- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happen to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:29Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:32So today we are talking about getting ourselves ready for the
- 0:37second-half of February. So we are halfway through
- 0:41February and quite honestly, this is a very tricky time for
- 0:45people because we're 45 days roughly into the year and this
- 0:49is when people start to fall off whatever their intentions were.
- 0:52So whatever you thought you were going to be doing, whatever your
- 0:55goals were, intentions, all of that, this is a time when we
- 0:58start to see it go sideways, when we start to see things that
- 1:02get to be, you know, in our way and we fall off.
- 1:06We definitely fall off. Just like I told you, I had a
- 1:09headache now yesterday when on the on the podcast, when I
- 1:12talked about the fact that I missed the jump roping.
- 1:14So but but again, it's not just because of the headache.
- 1:17This is just that time of the year when we are grinding into
- 1:22it. We're making sure that we're
- 1:23getting stuff done and then all of a sudden it starts to wane,
- 1:26whether it's my like just jump roping, whatever happened with
- 1:30the headache or it's a project you're working on or whatever.
- 1:34We tend as human beings to hit that 45 day mark and we fall
- 1:38apart. So the first thing is to ask
- 1:42yourself, am I on track? Let's take a measure today.
- 1:45Am I on track for what I intended?
- 1:46Am I on track for what I wanted to do?
- 1:49And truly, if you're not, it's OK because it's very normal.
- 1:53Everybody does it. It's very common.
- 1:55Hear it all the time. What's not common is the course
- 1:58correction. People fall off of it and then
- 2:00they do nothing about it. They just fuck whatever.
- 2:04It didn't work out. I lost it.
- 2:06I lost my momentum and it just fell apart.
- 2:09But that's not what we want to see happen.
- 2:10What we want to see happen is to say, OK, I need desperately to
- 2:15check in on myself. So whatever you're doing, you
- 2:17take the time to check in and say, OK, where am I in the
- 2:20process? First things first.
- 2:22Yes, Rufus. Yes, take a measure and say, OK,
- 2:26where am I? Second thing is, once you have
- 2:28that, there's no beating yourself up.
- 2:30OK? If you feel bad that you fell
- 2:32off, it's OK to feel bad. It's just not OK to stay there.
- 2:36The message that you're getting is I got to do something about
- 2:39this now. It's not just about you doing
- 2:42something, it's about you looking at, am I, am I
- 2:44leveraging? I've had that conversation so
- 2:46much in the past couple of days with people about how you need
- 2:50to leverage what you're supposed to be doing.
- 2:52Instead of trying to do it all by yourself.
- 2:54Give yourself the opportunity to like, can I put this out to
- 2:58somebody else? Can someone help me?
- 2:59Can I, even if you can't hire somebody who can, you get to
- 3:03potentially help you with things?
- 3:05And it's important because there are a lot of little things like
- 3:08I have to go out and organize my whole seed area.
- 3:11We're getting ready to do seeds and that was on my goal list for
- 3:15this, this part of the year. Have to get them in by the end
- 3:18of February to be ready to put them in the ground by April
- 3:21first, maybe end of March, but we'll see how the the weather is
- 3:25going. But in any event, have to get
- 3:26them out and be ready to do that and I need help setting that
- 3:31area up. So I'm getting my recruiting, my
- 3:33son to help me because why not? He's great at this and I can
- 3:36help him. If I had to do it by myself, it
- 3:38would take far longer so I can leverage it out.
- 3:42The third thing is, if you can't leverage, you have to ask
- 3:45yourself what happened in my schedule or in my plan that took
- 3:50me sideways? Was it time?
- 3:51Was it energy? Was it just money?
- 3:54What was it that took you sideways on it?
- 3:57Was it just not making it a high enough priority?
- 3:59We've talked about this before. Is it a high enough priority?
- 4:02And if it's not, then we need to do something about that.
- 4:06And then the next part of this is, OK, what am I going to do to
- 4:08change it and make it different for moving forward?
- 4:12Because if I don't do that, if I don't make it different, I'm
- 4:14just going to be in the same spot in the next 45 days.
- 4:17By the time we hit that 90 day mark, you'll be pissed off at
- 4:20yourself for the not doing what you wanted to do.
- 4:23And I would rather avoid that now and check in.
- 4:25So you can say I'm making progress.
- 4:27I'm doing what I need to do, but it only happens when you measure
- 4:31and consistently measure. So let's do this.
- 4:34Let's put it all on paper and put it in front of you.
- 4:37And if you have to, which I highly recommend, use sticky
- 4:40notes to remind yourself of the things that you want to do.
- 4:43Put the stickies out in front of you so, you know, on your
- 4:46computer, on your mirror, in your bathroom, your
- 4:48refrigerator, whatever it needs. The screen of my computer is a
- 4:52great thing because I know I'm going to open the screen of that
- 4:54computer and I'm going to see it.
- 4:56It's going to be right in my face.
- 4:57So I can create screenshots that have messages to me on it.
- 5:01I can print things out. I use print, I use my
- 5:04whiteboard, I use my computer. I have everything in front of me
- 5:08so that I know it. I can't escape seeing it.
- 5:11Then it gets my priority. It gets my my attention.
- 5:14So that's what I would recommend.
- 5:17And I also would recommend saying to yourself, OK, it
- 5:19doesn't matter where I intended to be.
- 5:21It matters where I am right now and re sculpting it, because if
- 5:25I can do that, then I can course correct and I've learned a
- 5:28lesson. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:30you have a blessed day and I will see you all tomorrow.
- 5:32Bye.
