- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome into jag Zam. It's week sixteen.
- 0:18Speaker 2: I'm ka Nannie Stevens, and Brian and John are with
- 0:21Speaker 2: me here today as well. We're going to talk a
- 0:22Speaker 2: little bit about this game in Las Vegas that's coming
- 0:24Speaker 2: up as the Jaguars get ready for their final three
- 0:27Speaker 2: games of the season. So let's start out with big
- 0:28Speaker 2: thing number one, which is time.
- 0:30Speaker 1: There are three.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Remaining games in this regular season, and because there's no
- 0:34Speaker 2: playoff contention for this team, it is time to focus
- 0:37Speaker 2: on the younger players.
- 0:39Speaker 3: From a coaching perspective, gives you an idea of the
- 0:42Speaker 3: type of player that you drafted and you brought on
- 0:44Speaker 3: your team. And then for the player, it gives him
- 0:47Speaker 3: confidence going into you know.
- 0:49Speaker 4: The offseason.
- 0:50Speaker 3: I look back to what Buster did his rookie year
- 0:53Speaker 3: and then the chances he got to play early on
- 0:55Speaker 3: how that catapulted him into this season, you know.
- 1:01Speaker 4: And and and so that's a that's a great.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Example, right and and then even looking ahead, like the
- 1:06Speaker 3: confidence that you see in Tank and the confidence you
- 1:08Speaker 3: see in Brenton. And you know, Anton's been a day
- 1:11Speaker 3: one starter, but the young players that have played Antonio
- 1:14Speaker 3: Johnson's playing more this year and the more or the better.
- 1:21Speaker 3: I should say that they play in these last couple
- 1:23Speaker 3: of games will give them the confidence I think moving forward.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Frian, we've been talking a lot about this. Now we're
- 1:29Speaker 2: actually seeing it come to fruition.
- 1:31Speaker 1: And any of those names stick out to you.
- 1:33Speaker 4: Yeah, a lot of them do.
- 1:34Speaker 5: The one though, that he mentioned later in the interview
- 1:39Speaker 5: was Trey Prince. And and here's why that's important. Right,
- 1:42Speaker 5: Prince came in as a guy from Old miss He's
- 1:44Speaker 5: got all the trades. He's he's got height, he's got length,
- 1:46Speaker 5: he's got speed, he's got an attitude too. He's still
- 1:49Speaker 5: pissed off that he was drafted in the fifth round.
- 1:51Speaker 5: But he's a guy that's got the traits that can
- 1:53Speaker 5: be a player for you. You want to find out what
- 1:56Speaker 5: he's got because when you go into the the draft
- 1:59Speaker 5: process now next year, do you know if he is
- 2:02Speaker 5: a guy that you can count on? Do you think
- 2:05Speaker 5: he's a guy you can count on or do you
- 2:06Speaker 5: not know anything about it? Well, you'd like to have
- 2:09Speaker 5: some idea because at the top of the draft next year,
- 2:11Speaker 5: or a couple of cornerbacks that you might be interested in.
- 2:14Speaker 5: So knowing exactly what you've got is critically important at
- 2:17Speaker 5: this time of year.
- 2:18Speaker 4: So listen.
- 2:19Speaker 5: Ronald Darby, ten year veteran, helps you win games, not
- 2:22Speaker 5: important right now. I got to see Trey Prince. I've
- 2:24Speaker 5: got to know if he's a guy can go forward.
- 2:26Speaker 5: I kind of know what monterk Brown is. Christian Braswell's
- 2:29Speaker 5: another guy. I'm just using the cornerback position because I
- 2:32Speaker 5: know it's one that people are focused on as an area.
- 2:34Speaker 4: The Jaguars got to get better.
- 2:35Speaker 1: John.
- 2:36Speaker 6: Yeah, you'd like to see a little bit of Jefferson
- 2:38Speaker 6: and Prince.
- 2:40Speaker 7: Javon Foster is tempting, but it's awfully hard just to
- 2:45Speaker 7: throw offensive linemen in there if they're not ready. It's
- 2:48Speaker 7: so much cohesion and you don't want to have the
- 2:51Speaker 7: offense not be functional because of one guy. Look, there's
- 2:54Speaker 7: all the draft position versus winning and what matters and
- 2:58Speaker 7: all that, but to me, in the last three games,
- 3:01Speaker 7: really take it for the last five. If they win
- 3:03Speaker 7: a few and they screw up their draft position, forget
- 3:07Speaker 7: the draft position for a second. If they win a
- 3:09Speaker 7: few and you'll love what Prince did, or you'll love
- 3:14Speaker 7: what Mason Smith did, and those guys feel like they're
- 3:18Speaker 7: standing in the locker room and saying I mattered in
- 3:21Speaker 7: this one.
- 3:22Speaker 6: I'm part of this. I feel confident going forward.
- 3:25Speaker 7: If you have nine or ten young guys who get
- 3:29Speaker 7: that feeling of we lifted it, then I think the
- 3:32Speaker 7: draft position losing it is okay. Frank, I'm not gonna
- 3:36Speaker 7: pick on Ronald Darby, but if Ronald Darby's staying in
- 3:40Speaker 7: the azine with a pick six and they won the
- 3:41Speaker 7: game because of that and he's not here next year,
- 3:43Speaker 7: then you sort of wonder was it worth it?
- 3:45Speaker 2: Sure, let's go to our second big thing, which is spark.
- 3:48Speaker 2: We've talked a lot about Mac Jones and the energy
- 3:50Speaker 2: he brings to the field, but he also hopes that
- 3:52Speaker 2: it's spreading to his teammates as well.
- 3:55Speaker 8: So I think we've had some good results here in
- 3:58Speaker 8: terms of like moving the ball and and like you said,
- 4:00Speaker 8: having fun guys making plays and really not letting one
- 4:04Speaker 8: play turn into like a snowball effect. Does that make sense?
- 4:07Speaker 8: So just kind of just playing each play one play
- 4:09Speaker 8: at a time and keeping it loose. Whether we did
- 4:11Speaker 8: something good on the first series or something bad. So
- 4:14Speaker 8: you gotta play each play, like I say, always, and
- 4:16Speaker 8: I think it definitely carries over to them. I think
- 4:19Speaker 8: that fits the personalities in the room, myself included, and
- 4:22Speaker 8: the coaches, and it's not been the best season so far,
- 4:25Speaker 8: but we're also still striving for perfection and keeping it
- 4:29Speaker 8: fun and loose and trying to win.
- 4:32Speaker 1: John, we talk a lot about the mac Jones experience.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Some mistakes will be made, but the energy's always there
- 4:36Speaker 2: and it's always entertaining.
- 4:38Speaker 7: Yeah, after the game the other day, I've watched the Jets,
- 4:41Speaker 7: I walked into the house and my wife would watched
- 4:43Speaker 7: the game and she said, you know that mac Jones
- 4:45Speaker 7: is cocky. There we go, and she said, but I
- 4:49Speaker 7: kind of wanted him to win. So I think that's
- 4:52Speaker 7: sort of the mac Jones experience in a nutshell. Yeah,
- 4:56Speaker 7: he's cocky and he does some weird stuff with the
- 4:59Speaker 7: hand stuff, but he cares about it and he's going
- 5:05Speaker 7: after it, and you get the idea of a guy
- 5:07Speaker 7: who's having fun playing.
- 5:10Speaker 6: So it's all mixed up into one.
- 5:12Speaker 5: Well, and listen, it helps with some energy in the room, right,
- 5:14Speaker 5: I mean, you've got three games left and you're not
- 5:17Speaker 5: playing for the playoffs whatsoever, and you need that spark.
- 5:21Speaker 5: It can come from a lot of different places. You
- 5:23Speaker 5: hope it comes from within, but more importantly, when you've
- 5:25Speaker 5: got a quarterback guy that can function, right, I mean
- 5:28Speaker 5: you look at the situation with the Raiders right now.
- 5:31Speaker 5: I mean they are down to Desmond Ritter and they
- 5:34Speaker 5: could have Carter Bradley, maybe Aidan O'Connell, but I mean
- 5:38Speaker 5: they don't have a quarterback that can go out and
- 5:41Speaker 5: function at a high level, which is why they've lost
- 5:44Speaker 5: ten games in a row. Now, I'm not going to
- 5:45Speaker 5: suggest to you that mac Jones is all of a
- 5:47Speaker 5: sudden going to go out and throw for three hundred
- 5:49Speaker 5: yards completing seventy percent of his passes, and he hasn't
- 5:52Speaker 5: necessarily performed at a super high level, but he's playing
- 5:55Speaker 5: better and that gives this offense a chance to function
- 5:58Speaker 5: better and perhaps get a win, and it some valuable
- 6:01Speaker 5: time with these young players having success. Who out there
- 6:04Speaker 5: doesn't want to see Brian Thomas Junior catch more passes
- 6:09Speaker 5: for more yards and more touchdowns. Matt Jones gives you
- 6:12Speaker 5: a chance to do that. And the fact that he
- 6:13Speaker 5: brings that energy, that spark that fun no good for.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Us, Absolutely definitely good for us. Our final big thing
- 6:20Speaker 2: is going to be ball. We do want people that
- 6:21Speaker 2: love to play football, and I think Brenton Strange is
- 6:24Speaker 2: a perfect example of that. We saw him in his
- 6:26Speaker 2: best game career game so far. Without Evan Ingram out there,
- 6:30Speaker 2: he's been getting a lot of the targets and just
- 6:32Speaker 2: his mentality is good.
- 6:33Speaker 1: For the team.
- 6:34Speaker 3: If the players don't have that mindset, or if I
- 6:36Speaker 3: don't have that mindset, it's going to set you back
- 6:39Speaker 3: even further. But if you come into it and you
- 6:40Speaker 3: embrace it, all right, we know, we know our situation,
- 6:43Speaker 3: we got it, we understand that. But I think these
- 6:46Speaker 3: next three weeks really can set us up for the future,
- 6:51Speaker 3: for the offseason, for next year and how we can
- 6:54Speaker 3: build and where we need to add pieces and all
- 6:56Speaker 3: that kind of stuff, the development of our roster. But
- 7:01Speaker 3: having guys like Brenton make those comments, I mean, those
- 7:04Speaker 3: are the type of players you want, right You want
- 7:06Speaker 3: those football players that love being here in this building,
- 7:10Speaker 3: soaking up football, soaking up ball, love being on the grass.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Those are the guys that you can build your team around.
- 7:18Speaker 3: And we've one of several, obviously, and many that we.
- 7:21Speaker 4: Have on the team that can do that.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Ryan Renton after the game said he loves football and
- 7:25Speaker 2: he doesn't need to find motivation to play in a
- 7:28Speaker 2: season where they don't have playoff contention because he loves
- 7:30Speaker 2: to play ball.
- 7:31Speaker 4: I love it.
- 7:31Speaker 1: That's the perfect answer.
- 7:32Speaker 4: No, I loved it.
- 7:33Speaker 5: And the question you had been asked of a lot
- 7:35Speaker 5: of people, I hadn't heard the answer. And then Doug
- 7:37Speaker 5: said he had plenty of guys in that locker room
- 7:39Speaker 5: who expressed that, And I guess it makes sense that
- 7:42Speaker 5: the Jaguars have kept playing, they've kept fighting.
- 7:44Speaker 4: You haven't seen quit in them. He must.
- 7:46Speaker 5: And so I was working the locker room yesterday and
- 7:48Speaker 5: I did find guys that expressed it, some of them
- 7:51Speaker 5: on camera, on microphone, some of them off. Trayvon Walker
- 7:55Speaker 5: was one who just point blank said, look, we should
- 7:57Speaker 5: all come in the building every day as if it's
- 7:59Speaker 5: the first day of the season, our first day on
- 8:02Speaker 5: the job, because in the NFL, which is not a
- 8:05Speaker 5: very long career, you.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Better make the most of every moment.
- 8:08Speaker 5: So I did go looking this week and found plenty
- 8:10Speaker 5: of guys in the locker room who expressed the sentiment.
- 8:13Speaker 5: And John, to me, that's really important because we talk
- 8:16Speaker 5: about culture and it's sort of a word that you
- 8:18Speaker 5: can you know, mold to mean whatever you want. But
- 8:21Speaker 5: you got to have a locker room full of guys
- 8:23Speaker 5: that play because they love the game and because they're professionals.
- 8:27Speaker 6: Yeah, and I think for the most part they do.
- 8:29Speaker 7: I think it's tough this time of year because you're
- 8:32Speaker 7: probably playing against a team of other people who have ball.
- 8:36Speaker 6: So.
- 8:37Speaker 7: There's a little bit of a you know, are you
- 8:41Speaker 7: trying ninety eight percent or is it one hundred percent?
- 8:44Speaker 6: Every day? Do I love it? Am? I passionate for it?
- 8:47Speaker 7: And I think that can be the difference this time
- 8:49Speaker 7: of year, because it's tough to find that hunger when
- 8:53Speaker 7: you're three and eleven. But I do think there are
- 8:56Speaker 7: guys in this locker room who have it, and I
- 8:58Speaker 7: think the last few weeks will be more chance for
- 9:02Speaker 7: the decision makers to make sure they have guys you
- 9:05Speaker 7: have it.
- 9:06Speaker 5: Enough and for all of those young guys that we
- 9:08Speaker 5: mentioned kai off the top to see what a professional
- 9:11Speaker 5: football season can be like when it doesn't go well,
- 9:14Speaker 5: and to learn and to understand and to actually execute.
- 9:17Speaker 5: Despite the record, It's Sunday, I'm the pro. I come
- 9:20Speaker 5: and play. That's why the last three weeks are so
- 9:22Speaker 5: critically important for this football team.
- 9:25Speaker 1: All right, stay with us here on Jagzam.
- 9:26Speaker 2: We're going to talk a little bit about the Raiders
- 9:28Speaker 2: and what that matchup is going to look like on Sunday.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Welcome back to jag Zam, brought to you by Field
- 9:39Speaker 2: Auto Group, Jacksonville's premiere luxury autogroup.
- 9:41Speaker 1: You can head over to fields Auto dot com check
- 9:43Speaker 1: it out.
- 9:45Speaker 3: It's a great player, good young player. It's just his
- 9:49Speaker 3: ability to separate, get open obviously, you know, using him
- 9:53Speaker 3: the right way, and just making placeball, you know. And
- 9:57Speaker 3: he's a he's a dynamic tight end.
- 10:01Speaker 2: We have a dynamic working on our team and Brian
- 10:03Speaker 2: Thomas Junior and now we have a dynamic I would say,
- 10:06Speaker 2: a dynamic tight end to be dealing with as well.
- 10:09Speaker 2: So when you look at that, Brian, what's something you've
- 10:11Speaker 2: seen from Brock Bauers.
- 10:12Speaker 1: It's impressive.
- 10:13Speaker 5: No, I mean just his catch radius. I mean it
- 10:15Speaker 5: doesn't seem to matter where the ball is delivered. And
- 10:18Speaker 5: I don't know that he's got freakishly long arms. He's
- 10:20Speaker 5: just one of those guys who it feels like the
- 10:23Speaker 5: ball is connected to him, John when you watch him play.
- 10:27Speaker 5: Of course, I saw him plenty when he was at Georgia,
- 10:30Speaker 5: and I wasn't quite sure how that was going to translate. Ball.
- 10:33Speaker 5: Looks like he might be first team All Pro. He's
- 10:35Speaker 5: the best tight end in the game by numbers this year.
- 10:37Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 10:37Speaker 6: He strikes me a little like when Justin was here.
- 10:40Speaker 7: Justin Blackman that when the ball was in the air,
- 10:45Speaker 7: he just caught it and he had bitter hands and
- 10:48Speaker 7: he was more powerful than other people. Brock looks like that.
- 10:52Speaker 7: I'm with you and watching him at Georgia. I'm always
- 10:56Speaker 7: a little hesitant when I see a player in college
- 10:59Speaker 7: who dominates physically, because you think, can he dominate physically
- 11:04Speaker 7: against grown men as compared to sometimes you're playing boys.
- 11:08Speaker 6: But boy see I did that.
- 11:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I called a transition and it was very well executed.
- 11:13Speaker 7: He's he's really impressive, and he looks like a tight
- 11:18Speaker 7: end is a position where there's usually a guy in
- 11:21Speaker 7: the league for a stretch, and it looks like he's
- 11:24Speaker 7: going to be.
- 11:24Speaker 6: The guy after Kelsey, you know.
- 11:26Speaker 7: I asked, though, Richard kind of player than Kelsey, but
- 11:29Speaker 7: he'll be the guy.
- 11:29Speaker 5: I talked to the Jacks tight ends coach Richard and
- 11:31Speaker 5: Goolo yesterday Kai and was just asking him about Bowers,
- 11:35Speaker 5: and he gave me a good answer, and then he
- 11:36Speaker 5: looked at me like, did you not expect that? I mean,
- 11:38Speaker 5: the people that evaluated tight ends were just so enamored
- 11:45Speaker 5: with him coming out, and all of them were stunned
- 11:47Speaker 5: to see him slide because he's a tight end and
- 11:51Speaker 5: not a wide receiver. But he's one of those guys
- 11:53Speaker 5: that should have been taken much higher.
- 11:54Speaker 2: And we talk about, well, we also, I'm sorry, I'm
- 11:56Speaker 2: just gonna say, we talked about what these guys are
- 11:58Speaker 2: doing on bad teams as well. The Raiders barely have
- 12:00Speaker 2: a quarterback to throw it to him, and he's still
- 12:03Speaker 2: with nine hundred sixty eight yards of both here.
- 12:06Speaker 7: Yeah, Bowers is a little bit of a of a
- 12:09Speaker 7: cautionary tale because.
- 12:12Speaker 6: And what I mean by that is at the.
- 12:13Speaker 7: Combine last year, he didn't have a great workout, if
- 12:18Speaker 7: he even worked out, but there were questions is he
- 12:20Speaker 7: a little heavy? Is he perfect specimen coming in? And
- 12:26Speaker 7: sometimes when those little things start going onto the combine,
- 12:30Speaker 7: you forget that.
- 12:30Speaker 6: The guy can just play.
- 12:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:32Speaker 7: Right, So, I mean that is another one where I
- 12:35Speaker 7: remember Tom Brady's workout picture with that in the Hall
- 12:38Speaker 7: of Fame.
- 12:39Speaker 6: So maybe doing with this kid too.
- 12:41Speaker 5: If they have any hope of having success offensively.
- 12:44Speaker 4: Obviously Bowers has to be involved. Don't forget.
- 12:47Speaker 5: They took Michael Mayer, the Notre Dame tight end, the
- 12:49Speaker 5: year before in the second route, and he's a very
- 12:52Speaker 5: talented kid. So they've got two guys out there that
- 12:54Speaker 5: can really move in the middle of the field. Jaguars
- 12:57Speaker 5: had Devin Lloyd that crew better have their head straight
- 13:00Speaker 5: because those two tight ends can turn you inside out.
- 13:04Speaker 6: We're always fine against.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Yeah, we do really well against tight ends historically, so
- 13:07Speaker 2: I'm sure that it'll be just fine.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Let's talk a little bit about this offense. Obviously we're
- 13:11Speaker 1: watching it right now, but.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Head coach of the Raiders, Antonio Pierce, said he feels
- 13:16Speaker 2: Aidan O'Connell's trending up, so it's likely a game time decision,
- 13:19Speaker 2: but he looks like he could play this weekend.
- 13:21Speaker 1: I'm not sure it necessarily matters.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Obviously, Desmond Ridder got the start against the Falcons on
- 13:26Speaker 2: Monday Night Football and that was not very pretty. So
- 13:29Speaker 2: does it matter who plays or we just trying to.
- 13:31Speaker 7: It matters a little because there are different kinds of players.
- 13:34Speaker 7: Ridder is going to run a little more. O'Connell's more
- 13:37Speaker 7: in the pocket and talking to Victor Fours with.
- 13:40Speaker 6: The Athletic Covers the Raiders and.
- 13:42Speaker 7: Said, look, they started off the season with a you
- 13:46Speaker 7: know well, wanting to run, wanting to throw play action
- 13:49Speaker 7: and he said that was an awesome idea when they
- 13:50Speaker 7: had Devonte Adams.
- 13:51Speaker 6: Yeah, so.
- 13:54Speaker 7: O'Connor is going to be in the pocket and vig
- 13:57Speaker 7: things he'll play. He's gonna be in the pocket. They're
- 14:00Speaker 7: gonna know where he is. He's not mobile. Uh so
- 14:02Speaker 7: it it's a dramatically different kind of game they're.
- 14:05Speaker 6: Gonna play with O'Connell and it would be rare.
- 14:07Speaker 2: There's who we will get out there. It will be interesting, certainly.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Say we let's say we're gonna give you our predictions
- 14:13Speaker 2: for tomorrow's headlines today coming up after the break, jag
- 14:28Speaker 2: Van brought to you by Suttis Lord's trusted and reliable

- 14:36Speaker 1: Slash Jacks welcome back into jag Van.
- 14:47Speaker 2: We're gonna do our best at predicting what the headlines
- 14:49Speaker 2: are gonna be on Monday after this riveting Jaguars Raiders
- 14:52Speaker 2: game in Las Vegas this weekend, at least we'll have
- 14:54Speaker 2: a nice backdrop. I'm very excited to see Allegiance Stadium.
- 14:57Speaker 2: So what do you predict the headlines they're.
- 14:59Speaker 5: Gonna be brand Well, it has not been a very
- 15:01Speaker 5: fun season, but Mac Jones has sort of been the
- 15:04Speaker 5: theme this week. So you know, he had fun last week,
- 15:06Speaker 5: So I say fun in Vegas. Who doesn't have fun
- 15:09Speaker 5: in Vegas? And I just I think.
- 15:11Speaker 4: Mac Jones is the differentiator.
- 15:13Speaker 5: I think he'll be able to execute the offense, and
- 15:15Speaker 5: we saw last week twenty five points in opening drive touchdown,
- 15:18Speaker 5: the kind of things that we didn't think would be
- 15:20Speaker 5: storylines when the season started, but some some offense and
- 15:25Speaker 5: obviously Brian Thomas Junior just exploding last week. So I
- 15:29Speaker 5: think the Jags go out and there aren't many teams
- 15:30Speaker 5: that you'd say, well, they're gonna win on the road,
- 15:33Speaker 5: not not a team that's only won three games all year,
- 15:35Speaker 5: but they've only won two and they've lost ten in
- 15:36Speaker 5: a row. So I say the fun thing comes through
- 15:38Speaker 5: with Mac Jones and the Jags have a nice flight home.
- 15:41Speaker 7: I'll tell you he's not gonna have fun in Vegas
- 15:43Speaker 7: any of us because the league. So you know, I've
- 15:47Speaker 7: never been to Vegabe on stage and I've never been
- 15:50Speaker 7: to Vegas, and apparently I won't even go this week
- 15:52Speaker 7: because he can't go to Sama, which I'm fine with.
- 15:55Speaker 7: I went a different direction, and I don't I don't
- 15:57Speaker 7: even know if I believe my headline, but I was
- 15:59Speaker 7: trying to figure out way to do what happens in
- 16:02Speaker 7: Vegas stays in Vegas. So I said, what happened in
- 16:04Speaker 7: Vegas needs to stay in Vegas. And I don't know
- 16:08Speaker 7: if I believe it, but I think there's a chance
- 16:11Speaker 7: that the Jags would go out there. It's almost a
- 16:14Speaker 7: West Coast trip. It's late in the season. We've all
- 16:17Speaker 7: seen sort of some of the things that happened West
- 16:20Speaker 7: Coast with this team historically. I don't know I they
- 16:23Speaker 7: believe that translate, but you could see a game where
- 16:27Speaker 7: the West Coast trip playoff ramifications. I think they get
- 16:31Speaker 7: blown out, but they're flying back and saying we should
- 16:34Speaker 7: have won that one and it just didn't happen.
- 16:37Speaker 6: Again.
- 16:38Speaker 7: The headline really is more because I couldn't think of
- 16:40Speaker 7: anything else other than what happens in Vegas is something.
- 16:43Speaker 5: Historically speaking, the Jaguars had only ever beaten the Raiders
- 16:46Speaker 5: on the West Coast. They never won in San Seattle,
- 16:48Speaker 5: they never won in San Francisco, they had never won
- 16:50Speaker 5: in San Diego, and then in twenty twenty two they
- 16:52Speaker 5: went out and beat the Chargers. So the only team
- 16:55Speaker 5: that they've really had sustained success against on the West
- 16:57Speaker 5: Coast is the Raiders.
- 16:58Speaker 4: But I agree with Johnny, it could go either way
- 17:00Speaker 4: when you got.
- 17:01Speaker 1: These two teams, I think so too.
- 17:02Speaker 2: I am going to air with positivity and go with
- 17:05Speaker 2: the Jaguars. But I said jackpot because I feel like
- 17:07Speaker 2: both of these teams had the jackpot with their with
- 17:10Speaker 2: their picks in the draft this year. Obviously, Raiders very
- 17:13Speaker 2: happy with Brock Bowers. We were very happy with Brian
- 17:15Speaker 2: Thomas Junior, especially after the last game when the two
- 17:17Speaker 2: touchdowns and breaking those rookie records.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Next is to come.
- 17:21Speaker 2: I think there's one more rookie record and then there's
- 17:23Speaker 2: a thousand yards receiving and hopefully we'll see as high
- 17:25Speaker 2: as we can go in these last three weeks and
- 17:27Speaker 2: hopefully they've cracked the formulas getting in their football.
- 17:29Speaker 5: Well, I believe he's tied with for the number of catches.
- 17:33Speaker 5: I think he just needs one more catch to break that.
- 17:35Speaker 5: And on that one, which one.
- 17:36Speaker 7: Yeah, and even beyond the records, because the Jaguars rookie
- 17:40Speaker 7: record it wasn't exactly Babe Ruth seven fourteen ninety eight.
- 17:45Speaker 7: But where he's gonna wind up, it looks like he
- 17:49Speaker 7: could wind up with eleven hundred and fifty twelve hundred
- 17:52Speaker 7: yards and not ten or eleven touchdowns. That's a really
- 17:56Speaker 7: good NFL rookie wide receiver season, and it shows you
- 18:03Speaker 7: he's not gonna sneak over a thousand yards. He's got
- 18:06Speaker 7: a chance to have a good number, and he's he's
- 18:11Speaker 7: going to be really really good.
- 18:14Speaker 5: Touchdowns would either tie or break the franchise record for
- 18:17Speaker 5: most touchdowns by a receiver in a season. So that
- 18:20Speaker 5: hasn't happened very often.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Record books are calling. We'll see what happens. Enjoy the
- 18:24Speaker 2: game this weekend. If you're going to Vegas, enjoy the trip,
- 18:26Speaker 2: and we'll be back on Monday or Tuesday to talk
- 18:28Speaker 2: a little bit about what went down.

- 18:55Speaker 2: because I've forgot how many blocks of the show we
- 18:58Speaker 2: were doing today. We do want to talk a little
- 19:00Speaker 2: bit about a special moment for one of our Jaguars legends,
- 19:02Speaker 2: Brian Yeah.
- 19:03Speaker 5: Rashie Mathis was honored by being named to the twenty
- 19:07Speaker 5: twenty five class for the Black College Football Hall of Fame,
- 19:10Speaker 5: which I guess is going to have a wing in
- 19:12Speaker 5: the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Campton. I was
- 19:15Speaker 5: texting with him last night and he's the same great
- 19:18Speaker 5: guy that he was when he showed up here as
- 19:19Speaker 5: a rookie in two thousand and three Englewood High product
- 19:23Speaker 5: who came in as a safety and they moved him
- 19:26Speaker 5: to corner and he turned out John and I know
- 19:29Speaker 5: you were an Indy for most of his career, but
- 19:31Speaker 5: turned out to be just a great football player. Finished
- 19:33Speaker 5: with thirty two interceptions, right and he had nine force
- 19:37Speaker 5: fumbles you saw that one right there. Five takeaways and
- 19:40Speaker 5: fumbles recovered so he has thirty seven career takeaways, and
- 19:45Speaker 5: he had so many big ones against Ben Roethlisberger and
- 19:49Speaker 5: this Steelers, including this one in a postseason game that
- 19:52Speaker 5: gave the Jaguars an early.
- 19:54Speaker 4: Lead that they never relinquished.
- 19:55Speaker 5: Rashee Mathis was truly a great cornerback for the Jaguars.
- 20:02Speaker 5: Damn good football player and a really good person. I
- 20:05Speaker 5: just I want to follow up with this and tell
- 20:07Speaker 5: you how many people run into Rachine and tell me
- 20:10Speaker 5: that he's their kids baseball coach, and what a great
- 20:13Speaker 5: coach he is. Rashie Mathis a local kid, made good
- 20:16Speaker 5: and honored by the Black College Football Hall of Fame.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Couldn't come for a better person than Rachine.
- 20:21Speaker 7: Yeah, I only I think I cover seen two years
- 20:24Speaker 7: when I got back in eleven and twelve.
- 20:26Speaker 6: I forget what year he left.
- 20:27Speaker 4: He left in beat team.
- 20:29Speaker 7: So but he's one of the guys from that era
- 20:34Speaker 7: that I remember thinking, Boy, I wish I'd been around
- 20:36Speaker 7: him longer because he was a great player and I.
- 20:40Speaker 6: Really enjoyed being around him. And congratulations to him.
- 20:43Speaker 5: Class At made lots of big plays and key moments,
- 20:45Speaker 5: and Jaguars fans remember that was named the Pro Bowl
- 20:48Speaker 5: and went wait.
- 20:49Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 20:50Speaker 5: He was named All Pro one year and much of
- 20:52Speaker 5: the Pro Bowl twice. Should have been more, but he
- 20:54Speaker 5: didn't play on a lot of great teams.
- 20:57Speaker 4: But a really really really.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Good football player, very well deserved. I'm glad to hear it.
- 21:00Speaker 4: Congratulations to Mashina and his family.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Absolutely all right. Now we are leaving. We hope you
- 21:04Speaker 1: enjoy the game this
- 21:06Speaker 2: Week and enjoy Vegas if you're going, and we will
- 21:07Speaker 2: be back next week to talk about it.
