- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Hey, Hollywood.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Hey, Hollywood go.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Go.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Mike Blitz.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: I am your host, Mike Wade, my co-host over there in South Richmond, Mike White.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: What is up, my guy?
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: How are you?
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: Holla holla holla hala hala.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: Let me holla ya.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: Halla halla ha um.
- 0:45SPEAKER_02: How's how you living, man?
- 0:46SPEAKER_02: What's going on?
- 0:47SPEAKER_02: Uh I'm good, man.
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: Uh, feeling good, you know.
- 0:51SPEAKER_02: Um, last weekend was really fun.
- 0:53SPEAKER_02: Um, spooky season, Halloween was such a good time with uh with the little ones.
- 0:58SPEAKER_02: We had a great time.
- 1:00SPEAKER_02: I'm sad it's over.
- 1:02SPEAKER_02: Uh now we're getting into dangerously close to Christmas season.
- 1:08SPEAKER_02: Everyone's starting to see you're starting to see the ads, you're starting to see the jingles.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you go to Home Depot and it's just packed to the gills with Christmas trees.
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: Um and yeah, so we're it's feeling like it's it's a little early for that, you know.
- 1:24SPEAKER_02: Let's slow it down.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: It's a little, it's always as they always do it.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: And but the funny thing is that we the reason it's not early, because there are people like um my better half who are playing Christmas music in the car yesterday.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: The day after it's it's it's crazy to me.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: The day after Halloween, Christmas has begun, which is too bad because Halloween is such a sweet holiday and it's so funny.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I had a blast.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: I've already eaten like nine pieces of Halloween candy tonight, which I really wish I hadn't.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: Um that's because my kids brought home so much, but it was great.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: I love walking around, I love all of the decorations, all the spookiness.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: Um, and it was just it was good, it was a really good, it was a really good time.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm now the flu house, everyone's sick, so I have a feeling that we're all gonna be.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: I didn't notice it until a second ago, but yeah, a little stuffy.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: I am okay, but I might be coming down with it.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: Um, the good news is it's start uh since Tuesday, or maybe Monday, 27 straight days of football, whether it's NFL, uh college football, or it's like a Mac.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: There's there's a I think Central Michigan is playing right now.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: Western Michigan's also on.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: Um so there's a northern Illinois game on.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: Super hyped for that.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: Go Huskies.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: Go Husky.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: So I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be watching a ton of college football anyway.
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: So um and I will say, I know that we are trying to slow things down a little bit, and I've had these conversations with Anna, your wife, and I love her for it.
- 2:43SPEAKER_02: We share our we share our love for Christmas music, but she starts it earlier than like anybody else.
- 2:48SPEAKER_02: She's a little too premature on this.
- 2:51SPEAKER_02: Um just yeah, we'll put the brakes on the Mariah Carey.
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: We'll be we'll get there.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: We'll get there.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: Oh, Christmas last season.
- 2:59SPEAKER_02: Go ahead.
- 3:01SPEAKER_02: We're also getting close to that special time of year where college football season and college basketball season overlap, which is really, really sweet.
- 3:10SPEAKER_02: Really, really sweet.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: And honestly, we're gonna, I mean, we are it's November 2nd.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: Like, this is like meaningful football.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: We're talking about we are now, I mean, with the college football playoff ranking came out, which we'll talk about in a minute.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: Like, we are now at the point of football where like it's it's like put up or shut up time, and like we're gonna find out really quick who we're gonna be paying close attention to in January.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: But we glossed over some things.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: First of all, um, what are you drinking tonight?
- 3:31SPEAKER_02: Normally I like to go out and get something a little bit weird for our show, just but to make it more fun.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: And I had some of my favorite beers of the season, but I drank them over Halloween.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: I got some um some Biggie S'mores, yep.
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: Um, which is I love it.
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: This time of year, Biggie S'mores so so good.
- 3:53SPEAKER_02: It's an Imperial stout from three notch.
- 3:55SPEAKER_02: Yep, yep.
- 3:55SPEAKER_02: And actually, the Biggie S'mores um bourbon barrel one is even better, it's fantastic.
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: So tonight I'm drinking my go-to like nine times out of ten.
- 4:05SPEAKER_02: If you check in my fridge, I'm gonna have a fear movie lions from Stone.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: That's what I'm drinking.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: Nice, nice.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: Um, I like you also bought a weird bunch of weird stuff.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: Um, and my neighbors brought me some weird stuff too.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: And I drank it all this weekend.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: So I am drinking my go-to as well, which is nothing other than a snub nose Hardywood lager in the glass bottle.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: Just cold and delicious and good.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: And I'm supporting the local axe, which I always like doing.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: Um, snub no bottles, which I which you've known from previous listening, I'm a big fan of.
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: Tastes good on a Wednesday night.
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: So comfort beers.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: That's what I'm drinking.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: Uh, let's get into the news.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: Uh, first piece of news uh uh after a month of sharpening the axe, Auburn finally did it.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: They kind of finally canned uh Brian Harson.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: Coincidentally, it did align with the new hiring of the AD.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: They just hired the new A the AD off Mississippi State, which was uh interesting timing.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: Obviously, new AD is gonna hire the new football coach.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: So maybe that has maybe that maybe that's why he wasn't fired a month ago.
- 5:01SPEAKER_02: Um, but um Yeah, those are the types of inner workings that we're not necessarily privy to, so that would make a lot of sense.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, nor would it really need to be.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: I don't really care.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: Um, do you have any like a top two or three, like who would you think would be a home run for Auburn or who would be like the worst hire, but they might actually do it?
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: Any hot takes?
- 5:18SPEAKER_02: Um, well, I so this is the time of year where everyone's throwing out like just random names.
- 5:25SPEAKER_02: So I don't know that you can really trust anything that you've seen because everyone's just gonna say, like, oh, this is a hot name.
- 5:30SPEAKER_02: Like, what about this guy?
- 5:31SPEAKER_02: Nick Staven.
- 5:32SPEAKER_02: Uh, a couple, yeah, a couple that I've seen that are interesting.
- 5:35SPEAKER_02: Um, Lane Kiffin.
- 5:37SPEAKER_02: Obviously, every time, every year.
- 5:39SPEAKER_02: And yep, every year.
- 5:40SPEAKER_02: And every year he's got something to think about because obviously the ceiling at Ole Miss is different than the ceiling at Auburn.
- 5:48SPEAKER_02: Um, the other one, Deion Sanders, which I thought was really interesting, and his name's gonna circulate a lot throughout the uh the coaching carousel, and that one could be pretty interesting.
- 5:59SPEAKER_02: It's a it's a complete 180 from Harson, which I think you know, if you have a kind of a flame out coach, that's a lot of times what you're looking for.
- 6:09SPEAKER_02: And he could recruit.
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: And if he I think for him it would be, you know, who does he fill out his coaching staff with?
- 6:17SPEAKER_02: You know, he doesn't necessarily have a deep coaching resume, so it would be who, you know, who are the coordinators he goes after, who's his staff.
- 6:24SPEAKER_02: Can he run, can he be the CEO of a major big time program?
- 6:28SPEAKER_02: Very different than Jackson State.
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: Um, there's a lot more involved, a lot more eyes on you.
- 6:33SPEAKER_02: You can't necessarily play it as fast as and loose as he's played it um in his current role.
- 6:38SPEAKER_02: So that would be interesting.
- 6:39SPEAKER_02: It that's a big step up.
- 6:40SPEAKER_02: That's a that's a ginormous step up.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's I mean that's my same take on him as well.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: I think there's a lot of things he would, a lot of intangibles he would bring with him, like the energy, the recruiting, the swag, the NIL stuff.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: Like he would be a king of all of that.
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: And his personality-wise, I think we actually actually fit pretty well.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: Jackson's not even that far from Auburn, as far as I know.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: Um, so it's in the right region of the world.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: I think I've seen I think Hugh Freeze out of Liberty is the name I've seen thrown around.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: He was obviously doing pretty well at Ole Miss, knocked off Bama twice, which is a big deal.
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: And you talk about Peak Bama 2010.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: He has redeemed himself, at least in the as much in the eyes of the college football overlords.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: So he's he's probably in fair play as well.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: Um, so it'll be interesting to see, obviously, being an SEC West rival.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: I've always got my eyes on the rest of the West.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: So um, we'll see about that.
- 7:24SPEAKER_02: We so speaking of Hugh Freeze, just I wanted to bring this up because you did throw that out in the Discord, and I didn't look it up, but I meant to.
- 7:32SPEAKER_02: His new deal will pay him 40 million through 2030.
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: Ooh, man, getting secure in the bag from Jerry Falwell and Company.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: Well from Liberty, that's insane.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: Well done, Mr.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: Freeze.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: Good for you.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: Good for you.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: Well, 40 million is a lot of dollars.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: I mean that's not that's not tech saying him 100 million dollars for 40 million dollars, nothing to sneeze out.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: So good for him.
- 7:53SPEAKER_01: And maybe you're right.
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: Maybe maybe that's enough to keep him there for at least a couple more years until who knows?
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: I mean, I don't know, Clemson or uh who knows.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: I mean, he's he I as if he keeps winning the way he's winning and he's given he's already done his proof of concept at Ole Miss.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't be surprised all the combat in, but whatever.
- 8:07SPEAKER_01: It's not about Auburn, uh, which is a uh doorstop program this year.
- 8:12SPEAKER_01: Uh college football playoff came out.
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: We were talking about earlier.
- 8:14SPEAKER_01: This is the this season, November is meaningful football.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: Uh, the first rankings came out, which don't mean much now, but they will obviously moving forward.
- 8:23SPEAKER_01: Number one, Tennessee.
- 8:24SPEAKER_01: Congratulations, very big, well done.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: Big done.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: Well deserved.
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: Well deserved.
- 8:27SPEAKER_02: Well deserved, well before we've been that drum for several weeks, yeah, and everyone didn't want to listen.
- 8:33SPEAKER_02: But the resume speaks for itself.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: And the playoffs reward you for it, and that as as they as they rightly should have.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: Number two, Ohio State, number three, Georgia, number four, Clemson.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: Whatever.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: Clemson, number Clemson, number five, uh Michigan, and number six, Alabama.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: Those are the top six.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: The uh the less the rest of the list, it looks more or less uh how you think it would look.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 8:55SPEAKER_01: Number 10, LSU.
- 8:57SPEAKER_01: Way ahead.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: Very interesting.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: Very interesting.
- 9:01SPEAKER_01: Now I'm the I'm gonna put it, I mean, it takes tin, I'm put my tinfoil hat on right now.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: A big part of me believes that was to help sell this game upcoming against next week.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: Because obviously it's a top 10 matchup.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: LSU is hosting Alabama in a top 10 matchup, just sounds better than a top 18 matchup, which is probably more realistically where we are.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: Um, but um, I'll take it, you know, LSU has had has has looked really impressive since the Auburn game.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's not gonna hurt you.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: No, it sure isn't.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: Um, so I mean, obviously as an LSU fan, I'm grateful for that.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: And what it does do is if if then the off-chance LSU beats Alabama, if LSU gets to Atlanta and beats a Georgia or Tennessee, we're probably in.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: We are high enough that with even with two losses, I mean, I think we'll need a little bit of help in that kind of far-fetched the hypothetical.
- 9:47SPEAKER_01: But starting at 10 and having two monster top five, top six wins, like that might be enough, especially if the the Big 12 eats itself, Pac-12 eats itself.
- 9:57SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: Maybe I mean there's there might be a backdoor, which would be not gonna happen, but it's nice to know that it gets possible.
- 10:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think um looking at the resume if you put a blind resume in front of my face, I'd say there's no way that LSU deserved a 10 spot.
- 10:14SPEAKER_02: Um, but I think it's great.
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: You there's a lot of a lot of credit being put on that on that old miss win, which it was a blowout, which LSU is a very different team than they started the season with.
- 10:27SPEAKER_02: And I think one of the things that's very interesting that um the committee this year is maybe giving some credence to is kind of like the growth that you're seeing throughout the year from some of these teams.
- 10:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:40SPEAKER_02: And I think that's good.
- 10:41SPEAKER_02: They're they're not looking at it with blinders on, they're understanding that teams grow and change throughout the year, which I also think bodes well for an Oregon.
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 10:51SPEAKER_02: If if they if they continue to do what they're doing, totally.
- 10:54SPEAKER_01: Oregon's similar to Boat and LSU in that respect, even though they got greasted by Georgia and lost like 45 to nothing, but ever since then have been on an absolute tear, just uh really have re-established on Bo Nix is like might have even worked works worked his way into the Heisman conversation.
- 11:07SPEAKER_02: Although this year's like uh fourth or fifth best odds or something.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, although this year the Heisman trace, the Heisman race is loaded.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: There's so many guys that are worthy of highly consideration.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: Um, and also, I mean, I think I mean which is good because frankly, I mean, back to your point about kind of watching the teams mature and who they are.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: I don't think anybody who has two sets of eyes, who has a phone who has a pair of eyes on them, who's watched college football this year, thinks that the same Oregon team that played Georgia in week one is the team that they were talking about in January.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: The LSU team that lost to Florida State on like 17 special teams mistakes and including a blocked extra point is the team that we're talking about in January.
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: And that's the team, those are the teams we're gonna be watching on football, watching foot play football in January.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: So let's talk about those teams.
- 11:49SPEAKER_02: Um, so well, yeah, and I think conversely, you're seeing that play out a little differently for Georgia, who's who's maybe getting less credit for that Oregon win on paper.
- 12:00SPEAKER_02: That's a huge win.
- 12:02SPEAKER_02: But I think even the committee is looking at it with with probably better eyes than the casual fan and saying this is a different Oregon team than the one that got blown out in week one.
- 12:11SPEAKER_02: And outside of that, Georgia, your resume is um not that great.
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: I think Georgia and Tennessee both have backdoors in.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: But I think actually give I think given the ranking, given how low Michigan is, maybe Ohio, maybe I think Ohio State might be the third team.
- 12:26SPEAKER_01: I think Tennessee, Georgia, and Ohio State are the only three teams that have two ways in.
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: Um the one, the obvious way, win outright, win the conference.
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: Right, you're in.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: The second one, I think Georgia or I think the loser of Georgia, Tennessee, or Tennessee has a really, really good shot to be in at large.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: I think Ohio's, I think in a situation where if Georgia and Tennessee both lost again, um and Michigan won, Ohio State could backdoor its way in.
- 12:52SPEAKER_01: But those are really the only three teams.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: Everybody else from here on out, I think is playing for their life.
- 12:57SPEAKER_02: Well, see, I disagree with you there because I if if Tennessee wins this weekend, I do not think Georgia has a backdoor in based on where they are now.
- 13:09SPEAKER_02: Because the re the the committee is saying Georgia hasn't done enough to warrant, you know, a top one, two.
- 13:16SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 13:16SPEAKER_02: And if they lose, they're gonna drop one, maybe.
- 13:19SPEAKER_01: All right, let me play this out.
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: Uh Oregon loses another one.
- 13:22SPEAKER_01: They're two loss champions, including losing to Georgia.
- 13:25SPEAKER_01: The Big 12 eats itself.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: Uh, Tennessee runs the table, including knocking off Alabama, Ohio State runs the table, including knocking on Mississippi State, Clemson runs the table, uh knocks off everybody, ACC.
- 13:35SPEAKER_01: Who's the fourth team?
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: It's gotta be Georgia.
- 13:38SPEAKER_02: So well, I think you're forgetting you set me up too well for this.
- 13:44SPEAKER_02: The elephant in the room, Alabama.
- 13:46SPEAKER_02: Alabama would have two losses at that point to Tennessee twice.
- 13:50SPEAKER_02: Not necessarily, because I'm I'm saying Tennessee could still beat Georgia, lose in the SEC championship, and that would put Bama and Tennessee in, and Georgia outside looking in.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: Okay, yes.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: I guess in that scenario, Georgia wouldn't have the way in.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: I don't think Alabama's, I don't think it's gonna happen.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: Okay, but yes.
- 14:07SPEAKER_01: I still Alabama could certainly trip up.
- 14:10SPEAKER_02: They have far more left on their schedule in the regular season than Tennessee or LCU and Georgia and Tennessee have nothing left in the regular season.
- 14:18SPEAKER_02: No.
- 14:18SPEAKER_02: Um, and therefore, if Georgia loses this game, they're not an SCC championship, and they would need a lot to happen in front of them to be in.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, LSU and Alabama could play spoilers to a lot of things.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: I still think Tennessee, Georgia, and Ohio State have a better chance of losing, of dropping one and getting in than anybody else, but you might be right.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: There might be another scenarios where that doesn't work out.
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: Anyway, the good news is doesn't matter.
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: We're gonna find out here pretty damn soon.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: I'm actually I've I've I'm talking about, we'll talk about this past weekend first, but I think this week, this week is the Sweet 16.
- 14:49SPEAKER_01: This is the equivalent of the Sweet 16 of college football.
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: This is Sweet 16 football for LSU, especially for LSU, and a little bit for Tennessee.
- 14:57SPEAKER_01: You win this game, the next game is the Elite Eight, uh, Atlanta, and then the college football playoffs.
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: So I'm this is this is LSU's equivalent of the Sweet 16.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: Do you like that or hate that analogy?
- 15:07SPEAKER_02: I don't hate it.
- 15:08SPEAKER_02: Um I don't hate it for us.
- 15:10SPEAKER_02: I like it okay.
- 15:10SPEAKER_02: Uh I wish it were true for the rest of the country.
- 15:13SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 15:14SPEAKER_02: Um, one of the things that I've I've seen a few times, and it makes me sad, is if we were in a 12-team playoff scenario, this game, and for me and for you, for LSU and for Tennessee, would not this weekend would not necessarily be like the winner-go-home scenario, like the crunch time scenario that it is right now.
- 15:40SPEAKER_02: These regular season games that mean everything right now, they're not gonna mean as much.
- 15:44SPEAKER_02: And that sucks.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: And I'm sad about that.
- 15:46SPEAKER_01: That's true.
- 15:47SPEAKER_01: That's true.
- 15:47SPEAKER_01: There's gonna be a whole lot more mystique around like the the around the the the 13th and 14th seed, there's gonna be at the 6th, 7th, and 8th.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: That's gonna have a different it's gonna have a different team.
- 15:56SPEAKER_02: Then C could drop this, not go to the SEC championship and coast into like a 9C and B.
- 16:02SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: They wouldn't get a buy or host or host a season.
- 16:07SPEAKER_02: So the season right now would be the over, essentially, and we'd all be looking ahead towards the playoff.
- 16:12SPEAKER_02: That's true.
- 16:12SPEAKER_02: You're but you might be right.
- 16:14SPEAKER_02: Because this is the biggest game in in in in like a decade.
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't think that's gonna be.
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: I mean, I don't think that's as true as you think.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: I think I think I think they're gonna I think they've but sounds like they're gonna they've cheered pretty well with one through four getting buys and five through eight getting hosting a home game.
- 16:27SPEAKER_02: But if you're in, you're in.
- 16:28SPEAKER_02: That doesn't no one cares about that right now.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: Uh I mean now, but we're we're not I'm thinking two, three years from now, and I think we're when that's at stake, when I I think people are gonna I think it's gonna mean more.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: I don't think this game, it's not gonna be as juiced as this year, but this is the this is the biggest Tennessee-Georgia game in what 25 years?
- 16:45SPEAKER_01: Probably.
- 16:46SPEAKER_01: Um, so I mean probably.
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: So I mean so I don't I don't know that I don't know that's gonna have the same luster as that, but I have a hard time seeing Tennessee and Georgia, especially when both of those teams are as good or anywhere near as good as they are right now.
- 16:58SPEAKER_02: That game having but the long-term implications won't matter, uh, is what I'm saying.
- 17:02SPEAKER_02: Both of them could both either of them could lose this game and still end up top eight and be fine looking at the end of the goal prize, which is a national championship.
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: This is a whole spin-off pod that we're gonna do in the offseason.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: We're gonna talk about we can we can't because I I have so many things I want to say about that, but we're we can't do it tonight.
- 17:18SPEAKER_02: We got we got saying, you know my feelings about the regular season and and how it's being watered down.
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: All right, all right, all right, let's keep it rolling.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: So let's talk a little bit about what happened this last week.
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: Let's start with what happened on Thursday night uh to our beloved hokies.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: Uh Virginia Tech lost 21-22 uh at NC State 24.
- 17:41SPEAKER_01: Um, Virginia Tech at one point was up 21 to 3.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: It looked third.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: It looked really good for the it looked really, really good.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: Um uh NC State did not have Devin O'Leary.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: Uh didn't didn't matter.
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: Mr.
- 17:54SPEAKER_01: Morris came in 20 for 29, 265, and three touchdowns.
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: Uh go ahead.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: What do you have to say about the Hokies?
- 18:40SPEAKER_02: So I didn't coin this term.
- 18:42SPEAKER_02: I'm sure it's been thrown around in Hokie circles.
- 18:45SPEAKER_02: My my Hokie sister threw it at me and called them the chokies, and I kind of have to agree with it.
- 18:51SPEAKER_02: It's it's a little brutal.
- 18:52SPEAKER_02: I don't know how often that's used in Hokie circles, but it rings true.
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: Um, it does.
- 18:59SPEAKER_01: Uh, this is the worst offense in college football, which is which is crazy because the the number two worst offense might be just down the road in Charlottesville, which I'll talk about in a minute.
- 19:06SPEAKER_01: Um, this this team just continues to just underperform and not underperform, they're bad.
- 19:13SPEAKER_01: They bad teams do bad things.
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: Uh, they had they had a lot of opportunities to get to get a really signature program building.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: Probably wasn't gonna get them to a bowl.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: They probably had a couple when they're lost during their schedule anyway, but this was a chance to look at a glimmer of hope for the hokies and say, all right, things are going the right direction, and they let it slip through their cracks.
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: Um I'll say go ahead.
- 19:35SPEAKER_02: This is a red flag for me if you're looking at the new coaching staff, because they had a lot of things go their way, they were playing well.
- 19:46SPEAKER_02: Um, NC State did not do anything overpowering, they didn't do anything that says I have more talent than you, they didn't do anything that that although they could have, they are more talent than they're perfectly they yeah, but this game set up perfectly for the Hokies to say I've had my opportunity and I seized it, and they let it slip right through their fingers.
- 20:08SPEAKER_02: And I don't know who to blame this on.
- 20:11SPEAKER_02: I don't because it's the stats, you look at them and they're fairly even.
- 20:17SPEAKER_02: But if you watched the game, this was the Hokie's game the entire way, and somehow NC State got the win.
- 20:26SPEAKER_02: I don't understand it.
- 20:28SPEAKER_01: No, I don't really understand it either.
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: Um, I just you you really hope to get one done for the Hokie's.
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: Uh, hopefully they can rebound and string a couple together, but it's just this is this is where everyone's just gonna have to pour themselves another drink and look to the offseason and hopefully Pry can get some recruiting going and get it going.
- 20:43SPEAKER_01: I did like what I saw out of uh uh uh who were these gentlemen's names, uh Monsor Delane and Wright, the two freshman cornerbacks that look pretty darn good.
- 20:51SPEAKER_01: Uh that freshman tight end of theirs is pretty good.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: They have a couple spots that are exciting if we're silver lining it here.
- 20:56SPEAKER_01: Like you've seen some freshmen make some plays, but that's it.
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: I don't have much else to say um other than um I've just it's tough.
- 21:05SPEAKER_01: It's tough.
- 21:06SPEAKER_01: Uh let's keep it moving.
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: Uh in the other in Charlottesville.
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: So I'm we're gonna go right to we're gonna go right to Homer time right now.
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: I actually was in had the pleasure of watching this game in person.
- 21:16SPEAKER_01: Uh UVA against Miami.
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: Pleasure of this I had the pleasure of watching this un inscruciating loss.
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: Uh Virginia lost uh 14 to 12, not a single touchdown.
- 21:29SPEAKER_01: It was one of three games in all of college football this year where there was not a single touchdown.
- 21:33SPEAKER_01: The other two both involved that's a great stat.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: The other two both involved Iowa, which is really funny to me.
- 21:39SPEAKER_02: I would have guessed that.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 21:42SPEAKER_01: It was eight field goals.
- 21:43SPEAKER_01: They sang the good, they sang the New Year's Eve song uh no less than four times every time they got a field goal, which I thought was really weird.
- 21:49SPEAKER_02: It had to have been exhilarating.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: Uh it went to four overtimes, three failed two-point conversions, and finally a two-point.
- 21:55SPEAKER_01: The only thing that even I saw even resembling a touchdown was the final two-point conversion going in.
- 22:01SPEAKER_01: It was without a shadow of a doubt, the ugliest football game I have seen in person in my entire life, without a sh by a wide margin.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: I saw some, I've seen some bad football games.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: That was the worst game I've ever seen.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: Without a shadow of doubt.
- 22:16SPEAKER_01: Some good, some good things to some good things to say.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: The weather was amazing.
- 22:19SPEAKER_01: Shout out Nick Joseph for Incredible Seats.
- 22:21SPEAKER_01: My brother and I sat the Patreon members, my brother sat about the 50 yard line, about 20 rows back.
- 22:26SPEAKER_01: Scott Stadium was awesome.
- 22:27SPEAKER_01: There's actually a lot of people there.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: There was good buzz, good energy, the fall, uh, the the foliage, everything else was great, but the on field products, holy smokes.
- 22:37SPEAKER_01: Um, I don't know who.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: Feels worse.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: I don't know if it's Tony Elliott and UVA because I really I'm this is this is really tough loss for him or Mario Christopher and Miami.
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: They were they were a preseason top 10 team or something.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: They were up there and they looked terrible too.
- 22:53SPEAKER_01: Even even with uh Tyler Van Dyke out, they shouldn't have problems like they did.
- 22:57SPEAKER_02: Um it's just a and when and when they announced that Tyler Van Dyke was out, I I I think it was that day.
- 23:05SPEAKER_02: And I said to myself, like, oh wow, like UV's got a huge opportunity here.
- 23:10SPEAKER_02: And yeah, for you know, I expected more points from them at home.
- 23:14SPEAKER_02: When you look at the when you look at the box score, it looks like one of those three-point shooting contests, like check X, check X, 3-3-3-3-3.
- 23:24SPEAKER_02: Moneyball.
- 23:25SPEAKER_02: Like it looks like a skills competition in basketball.
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: No, yeah, and it just it just did not, it did, it certainly did not work it work out that way.
- 23:33SPEAKER_01: Brent Armstrong looked bad.
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: He's got legs.
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: You watching him move in person, the guy is quick.
- 23:38SPEAKER_01: And there's a couple balls that he threw on a rope, but he missed some guys so badly.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: There were two balls that should have been touchdowns.
- 23:45SPEAKER_01: One of them UVA caught, uh, it was just badly underthrown.
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: He got run down.
- 23:49SPEAKER_01: They get tackled on like the three-yard line.
- 23:51SPEAKER_01: Like, yes, UVA is gonna punch it in, go up the half, like seven to three.
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: Nope, three and out, three to three.
- 23:56SPEAKER_02: And obviously, that the rest of the story so this is what I don't understand because they have some other skill players.
- 24:03SPEAKER_02: Yes, and I I said this, uh, I said this about them the week prior.
- 24:08SPEAKER_02: Brennan Armstrong, he threw 25 times, he carried the ball 20 times.
- 24:14SPEAKER_02: Why aren't they handing the ball off?
- 24:16SPEAKER_02: I understand that he has legs, but like they have running backs, they do, and they've got some pretty good ones too.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: And they you know, uh Xavier Brown, uh Parish Jones, these guys have all shown flashes.
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: I know their offensive line is woeful, and it's and that and you and seeing it in person didn't look a whole lot better than it does on TV.
- 24:32SPEAKER_02: Do they just have the wrong quarterback for the system?
- 24:34SPEAKER_02: Do they want more of a dual threat?
- 24:36SPEAKER_01: Is that what we're seeing?
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: I don't know what Tony Elliott wants.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: I don't know what I this is a really bad look for him.
- 24:41SPEAKER_01: Is given given where the offensive, what the offense has and what they've proven they can do under Bronco, like what they did on Saturday, what they've been doing all season, with the exception of the Richmond game, which is the game they go, the only game they've scored over 24 points in, I think it's that week one game against Richmond, 34-17 or something like that.
- 24:58SPEAKER_01: They just like look lost on offense.
- 25:01SPEAKER_01: Um, kudos to the defense for continuing to fight, continue to fight above their weight class.
- 25:05SPEAKER_01: That defensive coordinator from Air Force, I think he is, has a pretty uh talentless unit playing pretty well, and they continues to do so.
- 25:14SPEAKER_01: But uh Tony Elliott, the offensive coordinator from Clemson, what are you doing, dude?
- 25:19SPEAKER_02: Give me the view from the ground.
- 25:21SPEAKER_02: Um, did you talk to any UVA fans?
- 25:24SPEAKER_02: What's the sentiment around there?
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: The everybody everybody there, um kind of like me, I think.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: They were like, it's a really beautiful day, and it was.
- 25:33SPEAKER_01: And the fall and the beer was flowing, and the Miami fans were the Miami fans were talking about football here.
- 25:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:39SPEAKER_01: I'm just saying, like, I that I'm asking you, like the the the feeling in the stands were like UVA's like it was a for me, it was a we're just happy to be here.
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: We're having a great time.
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: Everyone's you know, the sun is shining, the leaves are turning, Charlottesville is beautiful, and there's a football game on.
- 25:55SPEAKER_01: Maybe we'll win.
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: Like, it didn't seem like there wasn't like a there wasn't like a buy-in, like a we're we are here for a football game.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: The Miami fans who offered me a shot the second I got out of my car that in the uh I parked like the vet school, like a mile away.
- 26:09SPEAKER_01: Literally, they were bumping Dr.
- 26:10SPEAKER_01: Dre.
- 26:10SPEAKER_01: And the minute I got there, they asked me for a shot, wearing my UVA gear.
- 26:14SPEAKER_01: They were amazing.
- 26:15SPEAKER_01: UVA fans were just, I think they're just having a good time.
- 26:17SPEAKER_01: I think they're just enjoying themselves anyway, regardless.
- 26:20SPEAKER_01: So, all right.
- 26:21SPEAKER_01: Uh we had to keep it rolling.
- 26:22SPEAKER_01: We have a lot more to talk about.
- 26:23SPEAKER_01: Keep it rolling.
- 26:24SPEAKER_01: Let's keep it rolling.
- 26:25SPEAKER_01: Um, let's write to the headliners.
- 26:26SPEAKER_01: Uh, Florida, Georgia, largest cocktail party in the world's largest cocktail party.
- 26:31SPEAKER_01: Uh game happens in Jacksonville.
- 26:32SPEAKER_01: Uh Georgia, 42-20.
- 26:34SPEAKER_01: Uh, kudos to Anthony Rutcherson for making it close for a minute um there.
- 26:38SPEAKER_01: And for a minute, it was close.
- 26:41SPEAKER_01: Uh, Georgia went up big.
- 26:43SPEAKER_01: It was 28 to 3 at half.
- 26:45SPEAKER_01: Uh Florida got set scored 17.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: I think it made it 28-20.
- 26:49SPEAKER_01: And then Georgia uh started throwing the ball to um Brock Bowers, who's an absolute beast.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: Good luck figuring out what you can do about that guy next week.
- 26:57SPEAKER_01: Um, and who's a tight end for Georgia.
- 26:59SPEAKER_01: Um, and took care of business.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: Georgia looked impressive.
- 27:02SPEAKER_01: Florida looks uh like they need a lot of help.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: Um, that's my takeaway.
- 27:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:07SPEAKER_02: Um, I think Georgia got caught sleepwalking a little bit after they got a cushy lead.
- 27:14SPEAKER_02: Uh in reality, even though Florida made it close, it was never really a game.
- 27:18SPEAKER_02: Uh, what stands out to me is Georgia has a good rushing offense, and Georgia still only held him to 100 yards rushing.
- 27:26SPEAKER_02: So something to keep an eye on.
- 27:28SPEAKER_02: I mean, obviously Georgia's defense is good, uh, but Florida is continuing to unravel.
- 27:34SPEAKER_02: And I think this is another one of those tales of you know, you're not who you were at the beginning of the season.
- 27:40SPEAKER_02: They beat Utah, they give Tennessee a tough test, obviously.
- 27:45SPEAKER_02: Um I think the wheels are falling off.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: You're saying you expected Georgia to run to run over them much more than they did.
- 27:53SPEAKER_02: No, I'm just saying, uh no, I think I think Georgia got a comfy lead and let off the gas.
- 27:59SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 27:59SPEAKER_02: And things are unraveling more at Florida as you get further into the season, because quite frankly, there's not, you know, this is not the season they envisioned for themselves after beating Utah.
- 28:11SPEAKER_01: No.
- 28:12SPEAKER_01: Year one, billionapier started off hot and has since kind of cooled a bit.
- 28:16SPEAKER_01: Uh we'll see, we'll see.
- 28:17SPEAKER_01: We'll see what Anthony Richardson and those guys do moving forward.
- 28:19SPEAKER_01: Uh, number two, Ohio State.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: Uh, number 13, Penn State.
- 28:22SPEAKER_01: We I got this one wrong.
- 28:23SPEAKER_01: I thought Ohio State was going to cover with ease.
- 28:25SPEAKER_01: Kudos to Ben State, Penn State.
- 28:27SPEAKER_01: They came out guns blazing.
- 28:28SPEAKER_01: They were winning 14 to 13 and a half.
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: It was 16-14 after three.
- 28:32SPEAKER_01: Um, and then Ohio State put up 28 points in the fourth quarter uh to pull away when this one 44 uh 31.
- 28:40SPEAKER_01: Sean Clifford had a massive day.
- 28:42SPEAKER_01: 32, 47, 371 yards, three touchdowns.
- 28:45SPEAKER_01: Um, Marvin Harrison, even even Ohio State's offense did awesome stuff.
- 28:49SPEAKER_01: Even without uh Jackson's fifth pajigma, who's probably the best receiver in the country, one of um the story for Ohio State is the defense and the plays they made.
- 28:58SPEAKER_01: JT T Amal, did you watch this guy?
- 29:00SPEAKER_01: The uh five-star DN.
- 29:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he played a great game.
- 29:04SPEAKER_02: Um this game was way, way, way closer than the score would have you believe.
- 29:09SPEAKER_02: Totally.
- 29:09SPEAKER_02: Penn State, Penn State had a chance late um twice.
- 29:13SPEAKER_02: They they, if I'm if I'm a Penn State fan, I am just so frustrated with this game because I watched them go for it and fail when they shouldn't on fourth down, when they should have taken three points.
- 29:26SPEAKER_02: I watched them turn the ball over four times, and they had this game in the bag.
- 29:31SPEAKER_02: I mean, you look at the score, it doesn't look like it, but they that they gave up a garbage.
- 29:36SPEAKER_02: I was it a I I don't even remember, it was a scoop and score or a pick six late to to to to make it look like a bloodbath.
- 29:43SPEAKER_02: But Penn State was in this game until the very end.
- 29:47SPEAKER_02: And they had a chance, and they should they probably should have won.
- 29:51SPEAKER_01: Seems like a theme with Penn State.
- 29:53SPEAKER_01: It's like they're always they're they they they find themselves, you know.
- 29:56SPEAKER_01: Obviously, the Michigan game wasn't a story, but they've done this to Ohio State a couple of times when they've kind of found themselves there late, having the finish.
- 30:02SPEAKER_01: I think James Franklin is now 0-11.
- 30:05SPEAKER_01: The takeaway for me, I mean, I recognize that Penn State had a chance to win this game.
- 30:09SPEAKER_01: I never really thought they would, even when I was watching it.
- 30:11SPEAKER_01: Um, I always thought Michigan would find uh Ohio State would find a way.
- 30:14SPEAKER_01: I thought they'd cover, they did not.
- 30:16SPEAKER_01: For me, the takeaway is that like, is now the time to start talking about James Franklin?
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: Is now I granted you're if you're a Penn State fan, you're saying as a Penn State fan, you'd be frustrated.
- 30:25SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't be so much frustrated with this game.
- 30:27SPEAKER_01: I'd be frustrated with the fact that we are an eight-nine game winning team that never really gonna challenge for the East unless something changes.
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: And I think that something has to be James Franklin.
- 30:38SPEAKER_02: Penn State is looking an awful lot like Mark Ricked.
- 30:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's a good analogy.
- 30:45SPEAKER_02: And then Mark Rick's a former coach of Georgia who And that will only get you so far winning nine, 10, 8, 9, 10 games a season, but never quite getting.
- 30:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, now Mark Rick did win, did win the SEC in 2005, and I think he and he had a run of the national championship in 2001.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: He got pretty close, but in general, for his 11, 12 years, he was a perennial eight, nine, ten winner.
- 31:07SPEAKER_01: And he never he a very it's a good analogy.
- 31:09SPEAKER_01: It just could just give you a few.
- 31:10SPEAKER_02: And that'll cut it in a lot of places, but when you reach a certain threshold, it just won't.
- 31:15SPEAKER_02: It just won't.
- 31:16SPEAKER_01: And I think after a while, you're like, well, let's see what you it's after a while.
- 31:20SPEAKER_01: You you have to see what's if the grass is greener.
- 31:22SPEAKER_01: Sometimes it's not, and a lot of teams find that out the hard way.
- 31:25SPEAKER_01: But I think if you're a Penn State team, you might be looking at looking at that and wondering, although his buyout is like it's like the fourth biggest.
- 31:32SPEAKER_01: I was looking at the list recently.
- 31:34SPEAKER_01: There's some, I mean, obviously, it's who you'd expect Kirby, uh Dabo, uh Saban.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: And there's a couple yeah, there's the Jimbo's bad one, Tucker's a bad one.
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: Franklin's right there.
- 31:46SPEAKER_01: I think they owe him like 60 million dollars if they fire him tomorrow.
- 31:49SPEAKER_01: They're not gonna do that, but I think this should be a start to be a conversation that they're having in Happy Valley about the future of Penn State and if James Franklin is the guy.
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure that he is.
- 31:59SPEAKER_02: Well, this is always the conversation you're gonna have when you play against kind of those juggernauts every year.
- 32:05SPEAKER_02: You know, if you're Michigan, you gotta beat Ohio State.
- 32:07SPEAKER_02: If you're Ohio State, you gotta beat Michigan.
- 32:09SPEAKER_02: If you're Penn State, you've got to beat Michigan.
- 32:12SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 32:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and they and and Jim Frank, James Franklin has never done it to either of those teams when they're good.
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: Sure, they've beaten a down Michigan, I think.
- 32:20SPEAKER_01: And I think they've taken one from I think they'll beat Ohio State in 2016 when they were, but like that's it.
- 32:25SPEAKER_01: They've never they've never beaten, they've never they're never beating these teams when they're good.
- 32:29SPEAKER_01: And if you never, if you can't do that, then it's anyway.
- 32:32SPEAKER_01: Um, let's keep it moving.
- 32:33SPEAKER_01: Uh staying in the Big Ten East.
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: Uh, number we'll come back to obviously Tennessee, Kentucky at the very end.
- 32:38SPEAKER_01: Uh, number four, Michigan, uh, just uh dismantling uh uh Michigan State uh final score 29 to 7.
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: Michigan State got an early touchdown and then they didn't score the rest of the game.
- 32:49SPEAKER_01: Uh the story here is obviously, I mean, obviously a bit of rivalry, solid win for Michigan.
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: They continue to do what they do.
- 32:55SPEAKER_01: Blake Quorum, 33 carries, 177 yards.
- 32:58SPEAKER_01: God, what a beast.
- 32:59SPEAKER_01: Um, the fight.
- 33:01SPEAKER_01: There was a nasty fight in the in the in the Michigan stadium.
- 33:05SPEAKER_01: For whatever reason, uh, most college football stadiums, most modern ones, there are two tunnels, a home team and away team.
- 33:11SPEAKER_01: You go there, you go there.
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: In Michigan, there's one.
- 33:14SPEAKER_01: It's always been that way.
- 33:15SPEAKER_01: And it's it's been a problem before in the past, and it was a pretty bad one.
- 33:19SPEAKER_01: Uh, just kind of give I'm gonna I'll give the quick and dirty, and you I want to hear your thoughts on it.
- 33:23SPEAKER_01: Um, Michigan, Michigan State, where players are going back, and Michigan players buying its own.
- 33:27SPEAKER_01: This was not a football fight, this was a real fight.
- 33:30SPEAKER_01: This was four or five or six Michigan State players essentially jumping and really, really pretty, pretty violently assaulting a Michigan player.
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: It sounds like there might be some uh the Ann Arbor police are gonna get involved.
- 33:40SPEAKER_01: It sounds way worse than some pushing and shoving and a heated practice.
- 33:44SPEAKER_01: Uh go ahead.
- 33:46SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, this isn't the first time this has happened.
- 33:49SPEAKER_02: A lot of people are saying, you know, they're blaming the stadium design.
- 33:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's probably more a function of the programming, having those people interacting with each other in the tunnels.
- 34:01SPEAKER_02: That shouldn't happen.
- 34:02SPEAKER_02: I mean, you've got to separate separate them first and foremost and not let that happen because it's really, really hard to train these guys to be out for blood over here.
- 34:14SPEAKER_02: But hey, if you walk 10 feet that way, cool it off.
- 34:18SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 34:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 34:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 34:19SPEAKER_02: Uh the thing that stood out to me, sorry, I just I gotta finish this thought.
- 34:23SPEAKER_02: Um, is that there weren't any other Michigan players anywhere to be seen.
- 34:30SPEAKER_02: This was like 15 or 20 Penn State guys, they all had their helmets on.
- 34:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 34:34SPEAKER_02: Michigan State guys, they all had their helmets on, and a Michigan player without a helmet, like, where did he come from?
- 34:41SPEAKER_02: Why was he?
- 34:42SPEAKER_02: I mean, I don't know what the scenario was, but it definitely looked like a a situation that warrants further investigation, actual charges.
- 34:52SPEAKER_02: This is not like a, oh, this is a football incident, like no, you know, it's not that like they didn't like they should have cooled it off.
- 34:59SPEAKER_02: Um, it's different when you have like jarring and and and trash talking back and forth between one team and another.
- 35:06SPEAKER_02: They've all got their helmets on, they're all in the tunnel, juices are flowing, you're ready to get out there, and like you know, shoves happen and and this and that.
- 35:14SPEAKER_02: This was like an ambush.
- 35:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, this is this is, I mean, you could if you want, you can Google it or watch it on uh Twitter.
- 35:20SPEAKER_01: I would not it's it's a little, it's a little group, it's a little rough.
- 35:22SPEAKER_01: It's not a it's not an easy watch.
- 35:24SPEAKER_01: It is a real fight.
- 35:25SPEAKER_01: So just uh warning if it's if you want if you want to go on that road.
- 35:28SPEAKER_01: I'm wondering if we're not gonna hear from Michigan's because Harbaugh, you know, he said he was supposed to say like that shouldn't have happened.
- 35:35SPEAKER_01: Michigan police are involved, they hope they should charge him protecting his guys.
- 35:38SPEAKER_01: I'd like to hear I think I think I think people are blaming the stadium design and or at least the program of that, which is not really Jim Harbaugh's space, or that's not his problem.
- 35:47SPEAKER_01: Like somebody else, somebody else is responsible for deciding when Michigan comes out and when Michigan State comes out.
- 35:53SPEAKER_01: It's not Harbaugh.
- 35:54SPEAKER_01: So I wonder if we're gonna hear, or if we if we have, I miss, I don't think we have yet, though, about um, oh, we're starting a new entrance, we're building something, we're gonna renovate.
- 36:03SPEAKER_01: Or these are old stadiums.
- 36:05SPEAKER_02: You can't just like put a new tunnel in.
- 36:07SPEAKER_01: This is kind of like no, I mean, I don't realize we're talking about moving earth, but like I, you know, it's it's uh I wonder if not that there will be some permanent program where the Michigan you stay on your sideline for for 90 seconds, and like there's gonna be an army of people move pushing ruckers out next week or whoever they're playing.
- 36:25SPEAKER_01: Like, I wonder if that's the next thing.
- 36:27SPEAKER_01: Like, and if not, why haven't you been doing that since forever?
- 36:30SPEAKER_02: But yeah, this this won't happen again, I'm sure.
- 36:33SPEAKER_02: There's security in place for it.
- 36:35SPEAKER_02: I think this is the type of thing that becomes really, really pushed to the front of our attentions with all of the cameras and phones and social media and things.
- 36:49SPEAKER_02: This may or may not have happened countless times in the past.
- 36:53SPEAKER_02: I mean, who knows, but it's worth fixing for sure.
- 36:56SPEAKER_01: Uh, let's keep it rolling.
- 36:57SPEAKER_01: Uh, number eight, Oregon beats the brakes off of uh Cal 3-5, Cal 42-24.
- 37:02SPEAKER_01: Story here for me.
- 37:03SPEAKER_01: Uh Bo Nicks continues to be the non-Auburn quarterback that he once was.
- 37:07SPEAKER_01: 27 for 35, 413 yards, three touchdowns, just looked crisp and excellent.
- 37:12SPEAKER_01: They have just been on a tear since uh the Georgia um tragedy.
- 37:16SPEAKER_01: Uh that's all I got.
- 37:18SPEAKER_01: I they they're they are they seem like they are on a collision course for uh the Pac-12 championship.
- 37:22SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna look pull the rest of their schedule right now.
- 37:24SPEAKER_01: Any thoughts on on Oregon this week?
- 37:27SPEAKER_02: Um, not really.
- 37:28SPEAKER_02: Uh Bo Nicks and the Oregon offense are firing on all cylinders, but the Cal football bears are abysmal.
- 37:36SPEAKER_02: They're terrible.
- 37:36SPEAKER_02: They're one of the worst teams.
- 37:38SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 37:38SPEAKER_02: It doesn't matter.
- 37:39SPEAKER_02: It's a it's it's a non-factor.
- 37:41SPEAKER_02: Moving on.
- 37:42SPEAKER_01: Let's move on.
- 37:43SPEAKER_01: Uh, this is a really fun game for me.
- 37:44SPEAKER_01: Number 15, Ole Miss uh uh takes down uh Texas AM 31-28.
- 37:50SPEAKER_01: Uh Quishon Judkins, 34 carries, 205 yards.
- 37:53SPEAKER_01: Uh one thing a Texas AM was holding their hat on all season was their run defense, um, which they gave up like 400 yards rushing this week uh to Ole Miss.
- 38:02SPEAKER_01: Texas AM is now, they were actually preseason.
- 38:05SPEAKER_01: I think they're preseason number six.
- 38:07SPEAKER_01: They are three and five.
- 38:08SPEAKER_01: They are they're gonna lose to LSU.
- 38:10SPEAKER_01: They are not going to a bowl.
- 38:13SPEAKER_01: Holy smokes.
- 38:14SPEAKER_01: The offseason in college station is going to be one for the ages, Mr.
- 38:19SPEAKER_01: White.
- 38:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and they're not finding a fix anytime soon.
- 38:25SPEAKER_02: And Jimbo Fisher keeps acting like, you know, hey, next week we're gonna do this, we're gonna do that.
- 38:31SPEAKER_02: Um this has an amazing rushing offense.
- 38:34SPEAKER_02: Yes, they do.
- 38:35SPEAKER_02: So there's no, you know, they were gonna they were gonna run the ball.
- 38:38SPEAKER_02: A lot.
- 38:39SPEAKER_02: Uh Jenkins is what, seventh in the country in rushing so far.
- 38:45SPEAKER_02: And he and he's a freshman.
- 38:46SPEAKER_02: He's put up over a thousand yards already.
- 38:49SPEAKER_02: So that's not a surprise.
- 38:51SPEAKER_02: Uh everything else is a surprise.
- 38:53SPEAKER_02: AM can't score.
- 38:55SPEAKER_02: They're just, I don't know.
- 38:57SPEAKER_02: They've got to find answers, and it's not gonna happen this year.
- 39:00SPEAKER_02: So it'll be interesting to uh to continue to see how this plays out.
- 39:05SPEAKER_02: It's not a great win for Ole Miss.
- 39:07SPEAKER_02: Uh, they kind of played with their food a little bit.
- 39:09SPEAKER_02: We're gonna find out more about them as the season goes.
- 39:12SPEAKER_01: You know, I think Ole Miss really won Ole Miss there's there's been there's been a lot of off-season chatter between uh Lane Kiff and the head coach of Ole Miss and Jimbo Fisher, particularly about Nil, Lane Kiffin being pretty critical of Nil.
- 39:23SPEAKER_01: So I think for I think for Lane Kiffin in his press conference, he kind of made some snide underhanded uh references.
- 39:28SPEAKER_02: And Kiffen has been kind of defensive over um Jimbo talking trash to Sabin, too.
- 39:34SPEAKER_02: Kind of like, hey, that's my daddy.
- 39:35SPEAKER_02: You don't talk to him that way.
- 39:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:37SPEAKER_01: He's he's kind of coached up a little bit.
- 39:39SPEAKER_01: So I think there's a little bit of pride factor on that.
- 39:41SPEAKER_01: So I think Lane Kiffin was really, although this win is not impressive, it's not going to do much for your postseason resume.
- 39:47SPEAKER_01: I think it was a big win for Lane Kiffin, just feeling good about uh getting back at Jimbo Fisher for that.
- 39:52SPEAKER_01: Um, I will say for AM, they finally got the they five, they finally got the five-star freshman out there, Connor Wegman.
- 39:58SPEAKER_01: And he actually had a decent day, 28 for 44, 338 yards, four touchdowns, which is the best quarterback performance I think of any AM quarterback this season.
- 40:06SPEAKER_01: Um uh granted it was against Ole Miss defense, which is patently bad.
- 40:10SPEAKER_01: They are not good.
- 40:11SPEAKER_01: Um, and I mean they're just overrated.
- 40:13SPEAKER_01: So I I think if you're AM, you like that.
- 40:16SPEAKER_01: Obviously, there's is yeah, I think he I think they're probably gonna end up burning his red shirt because why wouldn't you?
- 40:21SPEAKER_01: Haynes King, Max Johnson are gonna aren't gonna offer you anything better.
- 40:25SPEAKER_01: Um, but other than that, holy smokes.
- 40:27SPEAKER_01: I think the offseason is gonna be so interesting for an AM.
- 40:30SPEAKER_01: What are all these five-star freshmen?
- 40:31SPEAKER_01: Are they gonna stick around?
- 40:32SPEAKER_01: What's next year's recruiting class gonna look like?
- 40:34SPEAKER_01: It's they're gonna be transfer portal.
- 40:35SPEAKER_01: U.
- 40:36SPEAKER_01: I think so too.
- 40:37SPEAKER_01: And I don't, but I you know, I don't know.
- 40:38SPEAKER_01: Is it gonna be in and it's gonna be just out?
- 40:40SPEAKER_01: Is it gonna be in and out?
- 40:42SPEAKER_01: I think there's a lot of things rapidly happening at Texas AM.
- 40:47SPEAKER_01: They gotta find a way to get to a bowl.
- 40:48SPEAKER_01: I don't think they're gonna do it, but they gotta find a way to get to find a way to get to a bowl.
- 40:52SPEAKER_01: Uh, let's keep it rolling.
- 40:54SPEAKER_01: Uh Notre Dame.
- 40:56SPEAKER_01: Notre Dame with a big win over number uh 16 Syracuse.
- 40:59SPEAKER_01: Obviously, Syracuse started the season like 6-0.
- 41:01SPEAKER_01: We were excited about them.
- 41:01SPEAKER_01: They think they've lost two straight.
- 41:03SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, we I've been saying it.
- 41:04SPEAKER_02: They're pretenders.
- 41:05SPEAKER_01: I've been saying it.
- 41:06SPEAKER_01: They're not pretenders.
- 41:06SPEAKER_01: They are pretenders.
- 41:07SPEAKER_01: But I kind of thought Notre Dame, I thought Notre Dame was pretending.
- 41:10SPEAKER_01: Notre Dame is now five and three.
- 41:11SPEAKER_01: Monster showdown against Clemson this week, which we'll talk about in a little bit.
- 41:14SPEAKER_02: They've kind of I wrote Notre Dame off weeks and weeks and weeks ago.
- 41:18SPEAKER_02: So if they came back and and beat Clemson, I I will eat all the crow.
- 41:23SPEAKER_01: All of it.
- 41:24SPEAKER_01: Find some for me.
- 41:25SPEAKER_01: I will eat it.
- 41:26SPEAKER_01: Uh, kudos to Notre Dame.
- 41:27SPEAKER_01: Uh Clem, uh, I think Syracuse is having a little bit of a regress to the mean.
- 41:31SPEAKER_01: Um, they are they are a solid team, they're having a good year, but uh a top 10 team, they are not.
- 41:37SPEAKER_01: So, you know, that's that's that's about all I have to say about that.
- 41:41SPEAKER_01: Um, North Carolina, really quietly, seven and one.
- 41:46SPEAKER_01: Um, after their loss, too.
- 41:47SPEAKER_01: I think they're there's I think their only loss was speak of devil.
- 41:49SPEAKER_01: I think it was Notre Dame.
- 41:50SPEAKER_01: I think that was like week two or week three.
- 41:52SPEAKER_01: Yes, Notre Dame, 45-32.
- 41:54SPEAKER_01: I kind of left them for dead.
- 41:55SPEAKER_01: Drake May is a Heisman court, is a Heisman candidate.
- 41:58SPEAKER_01: Their offense is absolutely balling.
- 42:01SPEAKER_01: They're they are lighting up everybody.
- 42:02SPEAKER_01: Gene Chis is a good thing.
- 42:03SPEAKER_02: We're talking about go ahead challenging Clemson.
- 42:06SPEAKER_02: Carolina's the team to do it.
- 42:08SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, I mean, I think I think at this point, Carolina has to be the odds-on favorite.
- 42:11SPEAKER_01: I'm looking to uh yeah, they are every other team in the coastal has two losses, although North Carolina has North Carolina's stretch is tough.
- 42:19SPEAKER_01: They've got well at UVA, not tough.
- 42:21SPEAKER_01: Wake Forest and NC State left.
- 42:24SPEAKER_01: But yeah, it looks like they're they're they are heading to ACC championship against Clemson.
- 42:28SPEAKER_01: And honestly, that might be the outside of Wake Forest, that might be the best, the best test for Clemson.
- 42:33SPEAKER_01: So interesting to see that.
- 42:35SPEAKER_01: Uh Drake May continues to have them just go off 34-45.
- 42:40SPEAKER_02: Tied uh for first and touchdowns.
- 42:43SPEAKER_02: I mean, he's killing it.
- 42:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the the um and on and the reason to criticize UNC, and I think the reason no one's really talking about them, is just they're continuing to be just so bad at defense.
- 42:53SPEAKER_01: Gene Chisick still having a job.
- 42:54SPEAKER_01: The former out Auburn, which speaking, you know, bringing it full circle, former Auburn national championship quarter coach, now the DC at northern at nort at North Carolina, and doing a terrible job.
- 43:05SPEAKER_02: Um well, also you got to look at strength of schedule and the ACC, who we both were pretty high on coming into this year, sure, has been not what we hoped they would be.
- 43:15SPEAKER_02: Pitt has kind of fallen flat on their faces.
- 43:18SPEAKER_02: That's not a very good win anymore.
- 43:20SPEAKER_02: Duke is surprisingly like their best win.
- 43:23SPEAKER_02: I mean, maybe Miami, like like their their out of conference was a loss to Notre Dame, and that's it.
- 43:30SPEAKER_02: They beat Appalachian State, so that's good.
- 43:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 43:33SPEAKER_02: I probably should have lost that one, but that was a 63-61 shootout.
- 43:38SPEAKER_01: No, I think you're looking at a team that could very easily be.
- 43:40SPEAKER_01: I mean, I I had about I'm looking at their sketches right now as well.
- 43:43SPEAKER_01: They could very easily lose NC State and Wake Forest, and then they're 9-3, and then they're not talking about you know, then we're not talking about an you know an ACC part two, an ACC second team tier.
- 43:53SPEAKER_01: Because still, it still feels like despite the fact they're seven and one, maybe we're wrong.
- 43:58SPEAKER_01: Maybe, maybe, maybe UNC is one of those is a is a grower.
- 44:02SPEAKER_01: You know, maybe they're one of those teams that could get that's gonna get better in the season.
- 44:05SPEAKER_01: What are they not if they're a grower?
- 44:06SPEAKER_01: I you know what I was gonna say.
- 44:08SPEAKER_01: Uh, maybe they're not maybe they are going to be a better team uh than they were week one and week two.
- 44:16SPEAKER_02: No, I actually like them to finish the season undefeated.
- 44:20SPEAKER_02: I don't think NC St I they're they look better to me than NC State.
- 44:24SPEAKER_02: I think NC State's done without uh Devon.
- 44:26SPEAKER_01: I mean, obviously.
- 44:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, epic comeback against Virginia Tech.
- 44:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're still front seven, still tough, but uh there there's no way they're gonna stop them scoring.
- 44:34SPEAKER_01: Uh the the the game, the game for UNC, which is gonna be in two weeks, is at Number 21, Wake Forest.
- 44:41SPEAKER_01: That game might go 130 points.
- 44:43SPEAKER_01: I mean, I I could see Sam Hartman, Drake May, those defenses, they might just go off, but whatever.
- 44:48SPEAKER_01: Uh, we'll come, we'll come back to that.
- 44:50SPEAKER_01: Um, I don't think other game.
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: Oh, we got to talk about this one.
- 44:54SPEAKER_01: Uh, number nine, Oklahoma State, number 22, Kansas State, 48 to nothing, zero points.
- 45:03SPEAKER_01: Everybody and their mother picked Oklahoma State to hand to take care of this to win, and they got shut out bigly.
- 45:11SPEAKER_01: Worst loss in Mike Gundry's career.
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: First top 10 team to get shut out, zero points in God knows how long.
- 45:19SPEAKER_01: Uh, I think I saw I thought on Twitter, I think it was I think it was 40s or 50s, but it's literally been a really long time.
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: Um they didn't even show up.
- 45:27SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 45:27SPEAKER_01: I mean, Walker Howard, uh, Okie State played well.
- 45:30SPEAKER_01: Deuce Vaughn continues to do Deuce Vaughn things.
- 45:32SPEAKER_01: Um, I I've I've no explanation for zero points in Mike Gundy's that team.
- 45:37SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 45:37SPEAKER_02: There's no there's no breakdown, there's no explanation, there's no like there's nothing that you can look at and say, Oh, here's, you know, here's my intelligent reaction to this.
- 45:49SPEAKER_02: This was just I mean, if you're an Oklahoma State player or fan or in this, you just gotta throw this out the window and move on.
- 45:58SPEAKER_02: There's nothing, there's nothing you can do.
- 46:01SPEAKER_02: I mean, 48 to nothing.
- 46:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 46:04SPEAKER_01: That's just uh yeah.
- 46:05SPEAKER_01: Uh this is this is, you know, they they use a cliche all the time, like kind of burn the burn the tape, burn the tape and move on.
- 46:11SPEAKER_01: Literally, if I'm if you're Mike Gundy, like just forget what everything you did, every part of your plan was wrong.
- 46:18SPEAKER_01: Just don't do that again.
- 46:19SPEAKER_01: Next week, move on.
- 46:20SPEAKER_01: Uh, the Big 12 continues to cannibalize itself, and I I recognize that TCU is undefeated and they still have a shot.
- 46:26SPEAKER_01: They've faced five backup quarterbacks, and it's gonna get dicey for them coming down the street, coming down the stretch.
- 46:31SPEAKER_01: And honestly, I think Kansas State, despite losing to TCU, is still the best team in the Big 12.
- 46:37SPEAKER_01: I think Kansas State's gonna get another shot at them, and I think TCU is gonna lose.
- 46:41SPEAKER_01: Um, but TCU still has Texas Tech, Texas, Baylor, and Iowa State, all four teams that are plucky at worst.
- 46:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's so funny looking at this right now.
- 46:51SPEAKER_02: Who had TCU and Kansas State leading the Big 12?
- 46:54SPEAKER_01: Dude, well, I was thinking of I was thinking about our picks.
- 46:57SPEAKER_01: I think you I picked Oklahoma State and Baylor, and you picked Texas and Oklahoma.
- 47:01SPEAKER_01: Neither of us is gonna get a single team right in the Big 12.
- 47:04SPEAKER_01: Holy smokes.
- 47:06SPEAKER_01: What is fine?
- 47:06SPEAKER_01: That's great football.
- 47:07SPEAKER_01: That's great.
- 47:08SPEAKER_02: That's what I love about college football.
- 47:10SPEAKER_01: I couldn't agree with you more.
- 47:10SPEAKER_01: I just like that.
- 47:11SPEAKER_01: Just goes to show you how how deep and how wild the Big 12 has been.
- 47:16SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, K-State and TCU.
- 47:18SPEAKER_02: And we've talked about the parody.
- 47:20SPEAKER_02: I mean, any of these teams can beat any of the other ones on any given week.
- 47:24SPEAKER_02: I mean, you've got Kansas still in the mix.
- 47:26SPEAKER_02: I mean, I don't know.
- 47:28SPEAKER_02: I'm not in the mix for the conference, but they can knock off any one of those teams still on there, and they're two and three.
- 47:34SPEAKER_01: There's gonna be there's gonna be the craziest tiebreaker.
- 47:37SPEAKER_01: If TCU drops one or two, and I still think they will, there's going to be the craziest tiebreaker scenarios because you're gonna have the biggest log jam of teams that are all gonna be nine and three, and they're all gonna be right there.
- 47:49SPEAKER_01: Um, so the tech Big 12 is going to be, which has already proven to be one of the most entertaining football conferences to watch, especially top to bottom.
- 47:57SPEAKER_01: I don't see the next month being any different.
- 47:58SPEAKER_01: I'm really looking forward to watching them down the stretch.
- 48:01SPEAKER_01: All right, we have to stop talking.
- 48:03SPEAKER_01: We didn't start talking about next week again.
- 48:04SPEAKER_01: We've already been talking for like I know.
- 48:06SPEAKER_01: We didn't even talk about Tennessee, Kentucky.
- 48:08SPEAKER_01: I know we have to get to it.
- 48:09SPEAKER_01: This is the biggest game of the week, obviously.
- 48:10SPEAKER_01: Uh number Tennessee, Kentucky last week.
- 48:12SPEAKER_01: I know as we're talking about right now.
- 48:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, sorry.
- 48:14SPEAKER_01: No, sorry, my bad.
- 48:14SPEAKER_01: Last week.
- 48:15SPEAKER_01: Number 19, Kentucky at Nayland, number three, Tennessee.
- 48:18SPEAKER_01: Uh uh, Tennessee came out in the all-black, spooky uniforms.
- 48:22SPEAKER_01: Uh, Nayland was electric.
- 48:23SPEAKER_01: The pregame was awesome.
- 48:24SPEAKER_01: I watched it.
- 48:25SPEAKER_01: Uh, just dismantled Kentucky Blue Wildcats in ugly fashion, 44-6.
- 48:32SPEAKER_01: Uh uh, Mr.
- 48:34SPEAKER_01: White, the floor is yours.
- 48:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, this game was all about defense for Tennessee.
- 48:39SPEAKER_02: Uh, we had a we had some guys back.
- 48:42SPEAKER_02: We're trending healthier than we have all season long.
- 48:45SPEAKER_02: Cedric Tillman at wide receiver, but arguably arguably our best wideout came back, and he was on a pitch count.
- 48:51SPEAKER_02: Uh, he got some early touches, everything just rolled Tennessee's way.
- 48:57SPEAKER_02: Will Levis threw three interceptions, he got sacked, he got beat up.
- 49:02SPEAKER_02: Uh, they they they couldn't run the ball like they wanted to, and Tennessee just dominated start to finish.
- 49:08SPEAKER_02: It was a really fun game, fun atmosphere.
- 49:10SPEAKER_02: And um, I mean, I don't know what what can you say about it?
- 49:14SPEAKER_02: It's just a beatdown.
- 49:15SPEAKER_01: I uh what can you say?
- 49:17SPEAKER_01: I thought Chris Rodriguez was gonna pose a bigger threat.
- 49:20SPEAKER_01: I thought the defense would have a couple more wrinkles for you guys.
- 49:23SPEAKER_01: I was impressed.
- 49:23SPEAKER_01: I was um Jalen Hyatt continues to be unguardable.
- 49:27SPEAKER_01: And he, you know, obviously, I imagine Tennessee fans, and you you can tell me if I'm right wrong here.
- 49:31SPEAKER_01: I imagine Tennessee fans were all nervous when Tillman went down who was gonna be their number two and number three.
- 49:36SPEAKER_01: And Jalen Hyatt has done more than I think anybody expected him to do this year, and he's just been he's been that guy for Henan Hooker.
- 49:44SPEAKER_01: Um, just be everywhere and scoring all kinds all kinds of ways.
- 49:48SPEAKER_01: Kudos to them.
- 49:49SPEAKER_01: Um, I guess I still believe Will Levis is a first round quarter NFL quarterback.
- 49:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, somebody that's what everyone keeps telling me.
- 49:58SPEAKER_01: I keep hearing, I keep somebody keeps saying that to me.
- 50:01SPEAKER_01: I keep hearing that's a thing.
- 50:03SPEAKER_01: I keep seeing it places.
- 50:06SPEAKER_01: It must be true.
- 50:07SPEAKER_01: It must be true somewhere.
- 50:08SPEAKER_01: I know their offensive line is bad, and I know they don't have Wendell Robinson, Wondale Robinson anymore.
- 50:12SPEAKER_01: She doesn't have a ton of weapons, but six points against that pass defense, which is getting better.
- 50:19SPEAKER_01: Respect Tennessee's pass defense is getting better.
- 50:21SPEAKER_01: Like it shouldn't have been like that, shouldn't have been that bad.
- 50:24SPEAKER_01: And he just he he didn't belong in that field, frankly.
- 50:27SPEAKER_02: No, we've done a lot of things to improve, and that's one of the things you keep seeing from from this this staff and this these players, and it's somebody different every week.
- 50:37SPEAKER_02: Um, we had guys, Danico Slaughter, who who was forced into action, who's been a safety, they moved him to corner, he made huge plays.
- 50:46SPEAKER_02: He he was in on two interceptions.
- 50:48SPEAKER_02: Um, he forced one, he got one himself.
- 50:51SPEAKER_02: Uh we've just keep having guys make plays, and I I would be shocked if he doesn't start this week, play corner, maybe maybe you put him on a tight end because he's so versatile.
- 51:02SPEAKER_02: Uh, but these are the guys that you know again, this is college football.
- 51:07SPEAKER_02: You don't hear about them all week, and then they're they make huge plays for you in meaningful games um later in the season.
- 51:15SPEAKER_02: So um I was really happy to see it.
- 51:18SPEAKER_02: We continue to get pressure on the quarterback, we continue to have the most underrated rushing defense in the country, and offense just keeps being unstoppable.
- 51:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, uh, people just better take notice because this is not stopping.
- 51:30SPEAKER_02: I mean, I don't know what's gonna happen against Georgia, but this team's legit.
- 51:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, this is the best Tennessee team that I've seen in person um in a really long time.
- 51:38SPEAKER_01: So it's and they're and they're they're just really fun to watch.
- 51:41SPEAKER_01: I mean, who are we kidding?
- 51:42SPEAKER_01: Um, but the the brand of football they're playing is super exciting.
- 51:45SPEAKER_01: All right, uh, that is enough of last week.
- 51:48SPEAKER_01: Let's go ahead and shift gears and talk about this week.
- 51:50SPEAKER_01: Um, LSU was on a bye.
- 51:52SPEAKER_01: Um, so obviously that's so they were off, which is good because they have their monster show down.
- 51:56SPEAKER_01: You know, let's start with uh the the two biggest games of this of the week of the season for you and I are our to our teams.
- 52:03SPEAKER_01: So let's start there and go and and and go down and go down from there.
- 52:08SPEAKER_01: Uh so we're gonna start with um let's start with Alabama at LSU.
- 52:13SPEAKER_01: So number six Alabama uh is at number 10 LSU.
- 52:17SPEAKER_01: Uh the over-under on this one is 56 and a half.
- 52:20SPEAKER_01: Alabama is minus 13 and a half.
- 52:22SPEAKER_01: It actually opened at like minus 11.
- 52:24SPEAKER_01: So uh it's gotten a little bit better since then.
- 52:27SPEAKER_01: Um but uh this is this is this, it's it's it is awesome that LSU is playing for uh meaningful football in November.
- 52:37SPEAKER_01: That's really the best I could have hoped for um at this point right now.
- 52:42SPEAKER_01: I'm not expecting to win this game.
- 52:44SPEAKER_01: Uh Jane Daniels is continues to grow.
- 52:47SPEAKER_01: Um, that's really exciting.
- 52:49SPEAKER_01: Uh what do you Mike?
- 52:50SPEAKER_01: You got any you got any feelings on uh Alabama uh LSU this week?
- 52:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, this one is a little tough for me to break down exactly.
- 53:00SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's hard for me to think that the same LSU that I watched so closely get dominated by Tennessee will not get dominated by Bama.
- 53:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 53:12SPEAKER_02: I mean, quite frankly.
- 53:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 53:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 53:17SPEAKER_01: But they've grown.
- 53:18SPEAKER_01: They've grown.
- 53:18SPEAKER_01: I don't think we're gonna win.
- 53:20SPEAKER_01: If we're if it's competitive as close, I'll be happy.
- 53:22SPEAKER_01: Um, again, I'm just gonna keep saying it because I really do believe it.
- 53:25SPEAKER_01: And I know there's no moral victories in this in this world, but we're playing, we are playing for the West at home in November in year one of a Brian Kelly team that had 39 scholarship players nine months ago.
- 53:38SPEAKER_01: It is hats off.
- 53:39SPEAKER_01: You've done an incredible job in year one.
- 53:41SPEAKER_01: If you're an LSU fan, if you're any even remotely realistic LSU fan, there's nothing to do but be happy.
- 53:47SPEAKER_01: I like us to cover because I think Death Valley at night's gonna be weird.
- 53:50SPEAKER_01: I think Jane Dana's gonna throw some wrinkles at us, but I'm not, I don't feel good about the win.
- 53:53SPEAKER_01: So I don't know.
- 53:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're head, you're ahead of schedule, you're playing with house money.
- 53:57SPEAKER_02: Yep, there's nothing but positive things to take away from this.
- 54:02SPEAKER_02: I mean, if you get blown out, you move on, no big deal.
- 54:06SPEAKER_02: If you make it a game and make it interesting, then all of a sudden, you know, yep, things are looking a lot better.
- 54:13SPEAKER_02: But yeah, Jaden Daniels is doing much better things.
- 54:16SPEAKER_02: They've figured out how to use him, they figured out how to use their wide receivers, and the defense has grown tremendously.
- 54:24SPEAKER_02: So I don't think there's enough to stop Bryce Young and what he can do, but I think it'll be a good game.
- 54:32SPEAKER_02: I don't think it'll be a complete blowout.
- 54:34SPEAKER_02: I think it'll be competitive, and uh there'll be a lot of good to take away from if you're an LC fan.
- 54:41SPEAKER_01: Yep, crazier things crazier things have happened.
- 54:43SPEAKER_01: Um, I'll obviously be watching it closely.
- 54:46SPEAKER_01: Uh the big game, the number one game, the biggest game of the season, and all we've already we've already said this about this team two weeks ago.
- 54:54SPEAKER_01: They're doing it again.
- 54:55SPEAKER_01: Number one, Tennessee.
- 54:56SPEAKER_01: This one going two Stanford Settings between the hedges.
- 54:59SPEAKER_01: Number three, Georgia.
- 55:00SPEAKER_01: This over under is 66 and a half.
- 55:03SPEAKER_01: Uh, Georgia is an eight favorite, minus eight favorite.
- 55:05SPEAKER_01: They opened up at minus ten and a half.
- 55:07SPEAKER_01: A bunch of money's coming in favoring the Vols, and for good reason.
- 55:10SPEAKER_01: Um man, uh, you want me to go first?
- 55:13SPEAKER_01: You want to go first?
- 55:14SPEAKER_01: Uh, why don't you start us off?
- 55:16SPEAKER_01: Um, so uh Georgia is a really good team.
- 55:20SPEAKER_01: They have shown weaknesses throughout the season.
- 55:23SPEAKER_01: They have shown they are not.
- 55:24SPEAKER_01: I thought we were gonna see Georgia 2.0, and they have not been that by any means.
- 55:30SPEAKER_01: Um, for me, this game comes down to um Tennessee's ability to scheme around uh Darnell Washington, Brock Bowers, and those uh those pass catchers.
- 55:42SPEAKER_01: I I I think if I think I think Georgia is a good enough running team that they're going to be able to keep Tennessee honest and they're going to be able to keep Tennessee um to bring to to to commit seven or eight guys in the box, and there's gonna be times, at least at least a handful of times, where Tennessee's secondary is gonna be super tested.
- 56:02SPEAKER_01: And Brock Bowers is a legitimate first round top 10 pick tight end who is going to create really gonna create problems for NFL teams next year.
- 56:13SPEAKER_01: Um, so that's the matchup for me.
- 56:15SPEAKER_01: What that I what I'm thinking about, I'm looking thinking about keys to victory for the Vols.
- 56:19SPEAKER_01: The Vols are gonna score.
- 56:20SPEAKER_01: I expect the Vols to score 35 points at least.
- 56:23SPEAKER_01: Uh I if I had to guess, I would say what's it, 65.
- 56:26SPEAKER_01: And yeah, I think 35 to 31 points the Vols will get.
- 56:29SPEAKER_01: The question is, can they keep the dogs to 35 or less at home?
- 56:34SPEAKER_01: And that's gonna come down to these tight ends and their pass catchers.
- 56:37SPEAKER_02: It's really funny that you said that number because I don't know if you've seen this stat, but Georgia is one and nine under Kirby when it allows 30 plus points.
- 56:49SPEAKER_02: 73 and six when they hold teams fewer than 30.
- 56:53SPEAKER_02: Tennessee has 11 consecutive games when they scored 34 or more.
- 56:59SPEAKER_02: So pretty interesting.
- 57:00SPEAKER_02: Just something to chew on.
- 57:01SPEAKER_02: A little rocket or hard play situation for sure.
- 57:03SPEAKER_02: Something's gotta give.
- 57:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think this game is really interesting because it's again two very similar teams in the way that they score points.
- 57:15SPEAKER_02: Georgia's offense is pretty underrated.
- 57:19SPEAKER_02: They score points at a high click, they're very efficient, they don't use um big plays to do it.
- 57:25SPEAKER_02: They drive the field, they grind it out on you, and they're more pass heavy.
- 57:29SPEAKER_02: Uh Tennessee will run the ball to throw it.
- 57:33SPEAKER_02: Georgia's gonna pass the ball to run it.
- 57:36SPEAKER_02: And I do like our our defense to hold up against against their run game.
- 57:41SPEAKER_02: They've they kind of play running back kind by committee.
- 57:44SPEAKER_02: Um, and when you look at their stat sheets, they don't have a lot of outside threats at wide receiver.
- 57:51SPEAKER_02: Uh so I think, yeah, you definitely got to key on on their tight ends.
- 57:56SPEAKER_02: And I do agree with you, Tennessee's gonna get their points, so it's just gonna be on the Tennessee defense.
- 58:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 58:05SPEAKER_01: And it's it's not, you know, they're playing outside the comforts of Nayland, you know.
- 58:09SPEAKER_01: Um Sanford's gonna be Sanford's gonna be jumping.
- 58:11SPEAKER_01: It's 3:30, CBS game of the week.
- 58:13SPEAKER_01: Um is has is game day going there?
- 58:15SPEAKER_01: If they're not, they should be.
- 58:16SPEAKER_01: But game, yeah, of course game day is gonna be there so it's gonna be electric.
- 58:19SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, and really we've kind of already said this.
- 58:22SPEAKER_01: After this, there is virtually nobody with a pulse um uh on their schedule for Tennessee or Georgia after this.
- 58:30SPEAKER_01: The winner of Shane, well, let's not sleep on Shane Beamer and the winner of this game is going to Atlanta.
- 58:39SPEAKER_01: The stakes could not be higher.
- 58:41SPEAKER_01: Um, I know Tennessee, I bet Tennessee hasn't been back to Atlanta since 2007, I believe.
- 58:46SPEAKER_01: Is that right?
- 58:47SPEAKER_01: The last time you guys were playing for the SEC.
- 58:49SPEAKER_01: So I know obviously Vols are dying to get back there.
- 58:51SPEAKER_01: This is the best team that had so that I so you know this is gonna be a max, this is gonna be a monster game.
- 58:58SPEAKER_01: This can be the game of the season.
- 59:01SPEAKER_01: Uh it's gonna define the east.
- 59:02SPEAKER_01: And honestly, these teams are both so good.
- 59:04SPEAKER_01: There's a good, especially if it's a good game, and I think it will be.
- 59:07SPEAKER_01: I think that I don't I don't see either teams getting blown out.
- 59:10SPEAKER_01: I really don't.
- 59:10SPEAKER_01: I think it's a good chance we're gonna see both these teams again in the playoffs.
- 59:13SPEAKER_01: So I that's I'm we might we might see them again, but for now, it's control your own destiny, win the east, get to Atlanta, get there.
- 59:20SPEAKER_01: So I'm I'm I'm really excited for this game.
- 59:22SPEAKER_01: I'm almost I'm almost more excited for this game than my own game.
- 59:24SPEAKER_01: Go ahead.
- 59:25SPEAKER_02: I think, and when I said this early on weeks ago, we match up better against Georgia than we did against Alabama.
- 59:34SPEAKER_02: I agree.
- 59:35SPEAKER_02: And the only difference is that we had Bama at home and we played Georgia away.
- 59:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, on paper, I love this matchup.
- 59:42SPEAKER_02: I I don't understand.
- 59:44SPEAKER_02: I know Georgia's defense is super salty, I know they've got talent everywhere, but when I look at the one-on-one matchups, I like Tennessee all over the field.
- 59:54SPEAKER_02: And I I'm scared to do it, but and I uh it's an eight and a half point spread.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_02: It's Georgia do it.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_02: I know what you want to do.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_02: No, I mean I think we win the game.
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_02: That's what I want to do.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_02: I think we win the game, but I think I think we win it with an exclamation point.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_01: With an exclamation point, with an exclamation point.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_01: You know, I like what you said about matchups.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_01: I think you're right because the the big difference is um, I mean, Bryce Young had a big day, and Bryce Svetson Bennett is good, he is not Bryce Young.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_01: Bryce Young.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_02: Um and they don't have a Jameer Gibbs, they've got him back by committee.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_02: Their best players are at tight end, and and when I mean, I know that they've been looking good so far this year, and I'm not trying to discredit or disrespect their offense because they put up a lot of numbers.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_02: But yeah, if I gotta look at the competition, you gotta look at the strength of schedule.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_01: If I'm Georgia, the way I'm attacking Tennessee is I want to run, I want to run a lot of sets, two tight end sets, and keep those guys on the field.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_01: If they if they can run the ball effectively with Darnell Washington and Brock Bowers on the field, and they have the and they have the ability to keep you off balance and do play action, it could spell huge problems.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_01: If you guys can really stop the run and they have to abandon it and they have to start going to a they gotta start putting him in the gun all the time, you guys can pin your ears back.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_01: I think we're talking about a different game.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_01: And and not only that, that also is gonna get your offense on the field a lot more, which is if you're for Georgia, the best thing I think that even though I mean Georgia's a damn good team, they're a damn good team, they're a damn good team, they're eight-point favorites at playing at home.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_01: Correct.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_01: They don't want to they don't want to get into a shootout either.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_01: They want, they want to grind, they want to grind Tennessee out, they want to wear out your defense.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_01: So I so if I'm Georgia, that's what I'm doing.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_01: I'm running those pro action, pro style, down the hill, keep Brock Bauer, Darnter wash in the field and make them available so they can do the play action stuff they need to.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_02: If this game does get into a shootout, doesn't think Georgia has the worst sack numbers in the SEC.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, now Nolan Smith, their best edge rusher, who has three sacks out of their 10 sacks, is out.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_01: They're not getting to the quarterback.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_01: No, which really which is which is puzzling because they're like, you know, they have the guys to get there.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_01: They're just I don't know what yeah.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_01: I mean, obviously, like, I mean, credit Dan Lanning, the former defensive coordinator who's now the head coach of Oregon, for finding ways to get there.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_01: Although they were they they they had they had those guys this year and last year.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_01: Last year they would get there.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_01: I'm that's that's a really puzz that's a really confusing statistic to me.
- 1:02:29SPEAKER_01: And I don't really know.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_01: They're worse than Bandy.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_02: And they've played cupcakes just like anybody has, they've had opportunities to pad the stats.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_01: Totally.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_01: And and when they're up big when the other team is just throwing the ball like crazy anyway, and there's and it's it's funny to be that that they have not had that kind of pressure, but whatever.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_01: Um, good luck this week, man.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_01: This is a big week.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_01: I mean, honestly, the tenor of this show next week is going to be one of, you know, hopefully we both get big wins, and then you and I are gonna meet in Atlanta again.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_01: How fun would that be for the podcast and for this show?
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_01: But we'll just we'll have to see.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_01: Right now, both of us are dogs, so we'll just see how it goes.
- 1:03:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, I will not be surprised if we lose whatsoever, but this team is not one to get blown out.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_02: It should be a good game, and I do think we have the opportunity to to really create some separation if things go our way.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_02: Totally.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_01: Uh, we're not gonna talk about a lot of games because honestly, those are the two games that everyone's gonna be paying attention to.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_01: And we're running out of time.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_01: We've already gone super long.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, so let's just really quickly uh I think a sneaky good game we should talk about really quick.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_01: Number four, Clemson uh at Notre Dame.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_01: Uh, Notre Dame has shown some life.
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_01: It's only a uh Clemson's only a three and a half point favorite.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_01: That's way lower than I thought.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_01: Um, Notre Dame has a chance, uh, Marcus Freeman to get a massive win.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_01: This Clemson team is not the Clemson of old, um, or at least the Clemson of five years ago, I should say.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_01: Um, I like Notre Dame here.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_01: I like Notre Dame in this spot uh to really make a statement.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_01: They're gonna get their absolute best.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_01: Um, I'll be watching LSU Alabama, so I'll miss a lot of this game.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_01: Um, but this game has has sneaky potential to be really good.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I was shocked to see the line.
- 1:04:04SPEAKER_02: Um but this is what happens in these spots.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_02: It's all about spots, it's all about matchups, and this will be Notre Dame's Super Bowl.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_02: This is redemption.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_02: This is this is the opportunity to have a good season, a good start to the year, or a good first year, I should say, for Marcus Freeman, or something that goes completely the opposite.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_02: And Clemson's looked vulnerable.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_02: So we'll see.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_01: Will Shipley's a solid back, and they have weapons on offense, but there's again, I'm just gonna keep saying it.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_01: Clemson is good, they're not great at anything.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_01: I am I'm pretty confident they're the team that says the easiest path to the playoff, but I'm also pretty confident they're the first team that's gonna get smashed in the playoffs because I just this is not a team that has shown to be elite in the front four or front seven, which they should be given the high-end talent they have there.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_01: Um, DJ has made some has made has made steps, although Kate Klebbin looks like the future.
- 1:05:01SPEAKER_01: Will Shipley is a good back.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_01: I don't think he's a great back.
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_01: They don't have their proven wideouts.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_01: So I'm I'm this is a team that I think is good.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_01: I think Clemson's a damn good team.
- 1:05:11SPEAKER_01: They're in the they're in the top five and they should be, but they're the worst, they're the worst team in the top five by in the no if you ask me to rank the top five, 99% of confidence are gonna rank Clemson number five for good reason.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_01: So yeah, we'll see.
- 1:05:24SPEAKER_01: Uh let's keep it rolling.
- 1:05:26SPEAKER_01: Uh, number 24, Texas, and number 13, K-State.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_01: Texas is a two and a half point favorite on the road.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_01: I love this spot for K-State.
- 1:05:35SPEAKER_01: I know the Quinn Ewers is night and day, and I'm pretty sure they're coming off a bye.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_01: Um, but I just think K-State is damn good.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_01: Um, and they're playing in Bill Snyder Family Stadium, Manhattan, Kansas, the Little Apple.
- 1:05:46SPEAKER_01: Uh, any Texas, Kansas State takes for us?
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_02: Well, college football is all about knee-jerk reactions, and how can you not react after that Oklahoma State beatdown, just skull dragging that we saw.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_02: So, yeah, this is a good time to take K-State.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_02: Um I'm with you.
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_02: How can I not be?
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_01: Three and a half point home dogs.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'll take that.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_01: I like K-State, right?
- 1:06:09SPEAKER_01: I like I like K-State here big.
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm kind of cruising through.
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_01: I think we're gonna talk about a couple more things and we're gonna get out of here.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_01: We got to hit Wake uh NC State real quick.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_01: Okay, let's do that.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_01: Uh, we got number 21, Wake Forest at number 22, uh, NC State.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_01: Wake Forest is a four point favorite on the road, over 54 and a half.
- 1:06:27SPEAKER_01: Let's game the Carter Finley Stadium Rally, North Carolina.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_01: Um, Wake Forest with a just just for those of you who weren't paying attention very much last week, Wake Forest with a very, very uncharacteristic game last week, lost four.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_01: 48 to 21 to Louisville.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_01: Not very good team, Louisville.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_01: Six turnovers in the third quarter, I think is what I read.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna need, I'm not buying that in this one.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_01: I'm not knee-jerk and reacting to any of that one.
- 1:06:51SPEAKER_02: That's yeah, that's what I was gonna say.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_02: This is one of those times when you will not get that type of repeat performance.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_02: In fact, I expect Wake to be pretty sharp.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_02: And NC State has not been looking good.
- 1:07:03SPEAKER_02: I like Wake to get some redemption here.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_02: They actually, I think, turned the ball over eight times last week.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_02: They had they got sacked like eight times.
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_02: You're gonna see, you're gonna see a different Wake Forest team.
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_01: No, I think Wake Forest is, I still think Wake Forest is sharp.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_01: I'm really disappointed they lost the game.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_01: I was kind of hoping they were gonna sneak it to one of the uh New York Six Bowls.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_01: And though I think that I think their their chance for those is probably over, but it's not gonna matter this week.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_01: I also just don't think this NC State team is any good.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_01: I'm you know, part of me of the my disappointment well watching last watching the NC State Virginia Tech game last Thursday, just my disappointment in the Hokies was also like this game was the game was at NC State.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_01: NC State is not good, they were supposed to be good, and I think I either you or I or both of us picked them to go to the ACC championship this year, and uh that's obviously not in the cards.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_01: Uh so yeah, I'm with I'm with you.
- 1:07:51SPEAKER_01: I'm taking Wake.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_01: Minus four.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_01: We'll cover that.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_01: Deeks.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_01: Deeks.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_01: Uh let's do some hover times and get out of here because Pac Troll's not doing much interesting this week.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_01: Uh number uh number 17, North Carolina at you at uh Virginia, I believe.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_01: Is that it's on is that 12 o'clock noon?
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_01: Scott Stadium, yep.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_01: Um uh uh UNC's only a seven and a half point favorite.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_01: Why would you do that after last week?
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_01: Drake May is gonna light this team up full stop.
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_02: Yep, yep, yep, no chance.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_02: Sorry, UVA.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_02: They'll be gone.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_02: The fans will be gone by halftime because Drake May will put up a billion points.
- 1:08:26SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 1:08:27SPEAKER_02: I don't know, I don't know what that spread is.
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_02: I I I honestly don't.
- 1:08:31SPEAKER_02: If I was more of a betting man, I would hammer how much hammer that.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:08:35SPEAKER_01: Um, I just um, and honestly, I'm I know I'm just being repetitive.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_01: I Tony Elliott just seems lost.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_01: He seems confused.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_01: It doesn't seem like he knows what he's doing with his team or the team that he has, and I don't think it's gonna get any easier this week.
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_01: Miami was a chance to get a win, didn't get it.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_01: That's not gonna happen this week.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_01: Uh Georgia Tech, uh uh number three and five at two and six Virginia Tech Hokies.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_01: This game is at Lane Stadium.
- 1:08:57SPEAKER_01: So we have another home game here in Virginia.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_01: Um I've uh wow, Virginia Tech is a favorite.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_01: They are a minus three favorite against Georgia Tech.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_01: Um, this is two teams that are both terrible.
- 1:09:10SPEAKER_01: Um, who's gonna be the only thing that's uh who's gonna be less terrible?
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 1:09:15SPEAKER_01: I don't know, you know.
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_01: You got anything on this one?
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_02: I'll take the home team and I'll take I'll take Grant Wells.
- 1:09:21SPEAKER_02: He's been on a little bit of an upswing.
- 1:09:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he actually hit on some big plays against NC State's secondary last week.
- 1:09:28SPEAKER_02: He did.
- 1:09:28SPEAKER_02: They were kind of like toss it up and see what happens, but the wide receivers made some plays, and NC State has had a good secondary.
- 1:09:38SPEAKER_02: I there they haven't been as good for whatever reason this year.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_02: Their defense hasn't been as good.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_02: Um, but I think that could give them some confidence, especially at home.
- 1:09:45SPEAKER_02: I think they play better, and Georgia Tech has been a little suspect, a lot suspect.
- 1:09:50SPEAKER_02: Uh they've shown some sparks, but um, I like tech here.
- 1:09:54SPEAKER_01: Yep, I'm taking I'm gonna take tech too.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_01: Uh Georgia Tech is bad.
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_01: UVA's last win was at Georgia Tech.
- 1:09:59SPEAKER_01: Sorry, yeah.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_02: Virginia Tech.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_01: Virginia take Virginia Tech.
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_01: I I knew, yeah, I knew what you meant.
- 1:10:03SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm taking the hokies too.
- 1:10:04SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm also uh as what as much as I'm underwhelmed with Brent Pry and Grant Wells, I am even more underwhelms with Georgia Tech, which has no coach and no talent, um, is also in the midst of a major tailspin upheaval.
- 1:10:16SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, give me the hokies to get a win.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_01: Big win, get to three and six.
- 1:10:21SPEAKER_01: Let's do it.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_01: Um, I think that's all for week 10 preview.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_01: Anything else you want to touch on?
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_01: Week 10.
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_01: Um, oh, just one little teaser to keep your eye on.
- 1:10:31SPEAKER_01: Uh TCU is hosting Texas Tech, number seven TCU.
- 1:10:35SPEAKER_01: Texas uh Texas Tech's only uh only a nine and a half point dog.
- 1:10:38SPEAKER_01: Texas Tech is plucky, they're four and four.
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_01: Every now and then they give somebody a run.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_01: Joey McGuire has those guys playing motivated.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_01: I don't think it's gonna happen, but maybe keep your eye on TCU.
- 1:10:48SPEAKER_01: This might be this might be when the uh when the Big 12 cannibalizing itself really kicks in.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_01: Maybe Texas Tech gets a win.
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_01: Real quick, what do you think?
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_01: Washington, Oregon State.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_01: Michael Penix Jr.
- 1:11:01SPEAKER_01: is the best player on the on on both teams.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_01: I expect him to take care of business.
- 1:11:04SPEAKER_01: I'll Washington's four-point favorite.
- 1:11:06SPEAKER_01: Washington's only a four-point favorite?
- 1:11:08SPEAKER_01: Woo! Oh, that gives on Friday.
- 1:11:10SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna watch that game.
- 1:11:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm still thinking is the best thing, best thing on that field.
- 1:11:13SPEAKER_01: Oregon State is ranked.
- 1:11:14SPEAKER_01: They're six and two, they're having a solid season.
- 1:11:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they've been real quiet, but kind of sneaky, but so is Washington.
- 1:11:20SPEAKER_01: So is Washington.
- 1:11:21SPEAKER_01: I just think Michael Penix Jr.
- 1:11:23SPEAKER_01: is a stud.
- 1:11:23SPEAKER_01: I think their offense is gonna hum.
- 1:11:25SPEAKER_01: Uh and the game, they're playing it in Husky, the the comfy confines of Husky Stadium in Seattle.
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_01: Uh, give me the give me the give me the dubs for the dub.
- 1:11:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, uh, I think I agree with you.
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 1:11:40SPEAKER_02: I I really wanted to see what you thought.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_02: I don't have a strong opinion on this one, but yeah, push comes to shove.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_02: Uh I'll take I'll take Washington.
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_01: All right, cool.
- 1:11:47SPEAKER_01: All right, that's enough.
- 1:11:48SPEAKER_01: Let's get out of here.
