- Lucas: Hola, bienvenidos de nuevo. Welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo! This is episode 24. Luna: Hey, I'm excited! But wait, we did numbers up to ten, colors, body parts... What's next? Lucas: Today, we're going to learn how to ask for directions. Imagine you're in a new city and you need to find a place. Luna: Oh, that's useful. I always get lost. Lucas: Exactly. So, first phrase: '¿Dónde está...?' It means 'Where is...?' Let's say it slowly: ¿Dón-de es-tá? Luna: ¿Dónde está...? Lucas: Perfect. Now, let's add a place. For example, 'la estación de tren' — the train station. Luna: La estación de tren. That's a long one. Lucas: Break it down: es-ta-ción de tren. Say it with me. Luna: Es-ta-ción de tren. La estación de tren. Lucas: Great. So, '¿Dónde está la estación de tren?' — Where is the train station? Luna: ¿Dónde está la estación de tren? Lucas: Nailed it. Another place: 'el museo' — the museum. Say it. Luna: El museo. Easy. Lucas: So, '¿Dónde está el museo?' — Where is the museum? Luna: ¿Dónde está el museo? Lucas: Now, once you ask, you need to understand the answer. Let's learn three direction words. First: 'a la derecha' — to the right. Luna: A la derecha. Lucas: Second: 'a la izquierda' — to the left. Luna: A la izquierda. That's a bit tricky. Lucas: Try again: a la iz-quier-da. Luna: A la izquierda. Lucas: Better. And third: 'todo recto' — straight ahead. Luna: Todo recto. Lucas: So, if someone says 'a la derecha', you go right. Let's practice a mini conversation. I'll ask you for the train station. Lucas: ¿Dónde está la estación de tren? Luna: Umm... do I answer? I don't know the answer. Lucas: Right, you're the lost person. But let's switch. You ask me, and I'll answer. Luna: Okay. ¿Dónde está la estación de tren? Lucas: A la derecha. Luna: Oh, so it's to the right. Got it. ¿Dónde está el museo? Lucas: Todo recto. Luna: Straight ahead. Perfect. Lucas: Let's do a longer one. I'll ask you: '¿Dónde está el museo?' and you answer 'a la izquierda'. Luna: ¿Dónde está el museo? A la izquierda. Lucas: Awesome. Now let's put it all together. Imagine you're in a Spanish city. You need to find the train station. What do you say? Luna: ¿Dónde está la estación de tren? Lucas: And if I say 'a la derecha', what do you do? Luna: Go right. Lucas: Yes. Let's practice all four phrases one more time. Repeat after me: ¿Dónde está...? Luna: ¿Dónde está...? Lucas: A la derecha. Luna: A la derecha. Lucas: A la izquierda. Luna: A la izquierda. Lucas: Todo recto. Luna: Todo recto. Lucas: La estación de tren. Luna: La estación de tren. Lucas: El museo. Luna: El museo. Lucas: Great. Now try to say 'Where is the museum?' without me prompting. Luna: ¿Dónde está el museo? Lucas: Yes! And if someone says 'todo recto', what do you do? Luna: Go straight. Lucas: Perfect. You're ready to navigate a Spanish-speaking city. Remember, you can always ask '¿Dónde está...?' and then use these words. Luna: This is really practical. I think I'll remember 'a la izquierda' if I practice it a few more times. Lucas: Let's do a quick review. We have '¿Dónde está la estación de tren?' 'A la derecha.' 'A la izquierda.' 'Todo recto.' And 'el museo.' Say them all with me one last time. Lucas: ¿Dónde está la estación de tren? Luna: ¿Dónde está la estación de tren? Lucas: A la derecha. Luna: A la derecha. Lucas: A la izquierda. Luna: A la izquierda. Lucas: Todo recto. Luna: Todo recto. Lucas: El museo. Luna: El museo. Lucas: You did it. Now you can ask for directions in Spanish. Practice these phrases and you'll be fine. Luna: Thanks, Lucas. This was fun. I'm going to practice with my friends. Lucas: That's the spirit. And remember, Fexingo has more episodes to help you learn. Keep listening, keep practicing. ¡Hasta luego! Luna: ¡Hasta luego!
