- 2:12Am I right? Now the only thing I do with Wes
- 2:13is give him the soccer. The Silk Soccer The shock of the
- 2:20I'm lost in it anyways. Jeff Passan reports that the
- 2:23Nationals have fired longtime manager Dave Martinez and
- 2:29president of baseball operations Mike Rizzo.
- 2:32Martinez has been with the organization since 2018 and
- 2:37Rizzo has been with the organization since 2013.
- 2:40Both were there during their World Series winning season in
- 2:442019. USA Today's Bob Nightingale said
- 2:48there was always a long term plan of of judging the Nationals
- 2:53progress when deciding if they were going to bring back
- 2:58Martinez, who has a team option this year.
- 3:01He adds that Rizzo and Martinez were likely attached by the hip
- 3:06whether they decided to keep them or let them go and let them
- 3:10go. As a result of the Nationals
- 3:12having a 37 and 53 record, the Nationals traded many stars from
- 3:17championship teams such as Max Scherzer, Trey Turner wants and
- 3:22got back a lot of good young talent over the years.
- 3:26These players included catcher Ruiz, shortstop Abrahams and
- 3:332024 All Star pitcher Gray and two 2025 All Stars in pitching.
- 3:40I'm sorry, Mackenzie Gore and Al Fielder.
- 3:43James Wood, who by the way, James Wood is probably one of
- 3:46the best young superstars in the major leagues right now.
- 3:49Power eater big guy compared share his skills to the Aaron
- 3:53Judge type. I I will say this.
- 3:56The nationals needed to do this years ago and I'm not taking
- 4:01shots at the organization organization one they had Bryce
- 4:05Harper there they had Steven Strasburg there and they're no
- 4:08longer there. And one of the reasons why
- 4:10they're no longer there is because the organization don't
- 4:12keep superstars there. They eventually when they become
- 4:15free agents or they they have, you know, seasons where they
- 4:19have had great seasons or even turned around seasons, they find
- 4:23a way to move them. Some of them were good moves and
- 4:26some of them really bad moves. And the organization after
- 4:31winning the way they did and Juan Soto going, you know,
- 4:34absolutely, you know, hot in the playoffs and doing what he did
- 4:39in the playoffs and helping that team win a World Series and
- 4:42doing what a Bryce Harper because remember, Bryce Harper
- 4:45left, he went to Philadelphia the year before they won a World
- 4:49Series. So they they had Bryce Harper
- 4:51there, they had Stephen Strasburg, they they had a
- 4:53talented all around team. And Juan Soto was the young guy
- 4:56coming up. What was he, 1920 years old?
- 4:59Yeah. So he was a baby.
- 5:00He came up and got really, really hot at the end of the
- 5:02season and went on that unbelievable run in the playoffs
- 5:05where they were just untouchable.
- 5:06Max Scherzer, who I, I respect his ability.
- 5:09Max Scherzer, a guy that was a journeyman all the way through
- 5:13his career, went from, and I don't think people remember he
- 5:16was traded for, if I'm not mistaken, Curtis Granderson.
- 5:19If I'm not mistaken, it wasn't Curtis Granderson.
- 5:21He was traded for, Yeah. I think he was in the deal
- 5:23somewhere. Wait, no, it was a Diamondback.
- 5:25So no, it probably wouldn't. Have been.
- 5:27It wasn't, I'm not sure, but Curtis Granderson I think was
- 5:30involved with, it was a three team trade.
- 5:32Detroit was there. I think it was Detroit, the
- 5:35Yankees and Arizona and I think Granderson went to the Yankees.
- 5:39Detroit sent Granderson to the Yankees.
- 5:41Oh, you're right. Yes, you're right.
- 5:42It was Diamondbacks received. Ian Kennedy and Andy Jackson, I
- 5:45corrected you, Mr. I know it all.
- 5:48And yeah. Diamondbacks traded Scherzer and
- 5:51Dan Schlereth to the Tigers. Diamondbacks got Ian Kennedy and
- 5:54Edwin Jackson, and he's got Curtis Granderson.
- 5:56I remember that trade and, and, and really the team that won
- 6:00that trade was Detroit. And even with Curtis Grandison
- 6:03having those great years with the Yankees, if I think at one
- 6:05year he had close to 50 home runs, but the Yankees could
- 6:08never go over the hump And Curtis Grandison throughout the
- 6:11playoffs could not hit in the playoffs.
- 6:13And that was a big problem. He was a he really was a when he
- 6:16went to the Yankees, this guy was a A2 way player.
- 6:19And when he went to the Yankees, he became a power hitter more in
- 6:21Yankee Stadium than he was a defensive player or even a base
- 6:24Steeler. So and he was pretty good when
- 6:26he was in Detroit as an outfielder.
- 6:28But I, I think Max Scherzer was a journeyman and all the way
- 6:32through till he went to the Nationals and then he spent his
- 6:34career with the Nationals. If you look at his career, even
- 6:37with Detroit, he was only in there with Detroit for what,
- 6:40three years? And then he then went to the
- 6:42national sign that long term deal and then he went on that
- 6:45stand where he was the best pitcher in baseball.
- 6:47I don't think you could argue that he was that Scherzer had
- 6:50some of the best years we've seen a pitcher have when he was
- 6:53with the Nationals. But the organization over the
- 6:56last couple years have been absolutely putrid.
- 6:58They they don't keep players. They do bring in these young
- 7:01players. We'll see how they develop and
- 7:03Wood looks like he's going to be a star, but you never know what
- 7:06these Farms hands are going to be, where these guys, how these
- 7:08guys are going to turn up and how they're going to turn out.
- 7:11As you know with the New York Yankees over the years, as the
- 7:13Yankee fan, this guy's going to be good.
- 7:15That guy's going to be good. And they never pan out.
- 7:17None of them pan out. Usually one out of probably 10
- 7:20guys pan out. Remember Clint Frazier when the
- 7:22Yankees traded with the Indians? Remember that?
- 7:24I'm sorry, the Guardians remember that trade.
- 7:27Everybody, This guy is a home run player, 5 tool player.
- 7:30I mean, after he got hurt or something was going on with his
- 7:34brain, something happened. Yeah.
- 7:36He could not hit with the Yankees and then he was never a
- 7:39good player after he left in the New York Yankees.
- 7:41You just never know what these guys.
- 7:42How about Sheffield? Remember when the Yankees
- 7:44brought him in and they drafted him?
- 7:46Sheffield was going to be this unbelievable pitcher and then he
- 7:49couldn't cut it with. The He went to the Mariners,
- 7:51right? Yeah, James Paxton's right.
- 7:54He couldn't cut it with the Yankees.
- 7:55Then he went on, he went somewhere else and he couldn't
- 7:57cut it there with the Mariners. I these farm hands never, you
- 8:00know that. You just don't know what these
- 8:02guys. What we do know is Bryce Harper
- 8:04was a star. Juan Soda was a * Steven
- 8:07Strasburg, the star, All these guys that they they've brought
- 8:10up over the years, these great young players, besides
- 8:14Strasburg, who was there practically his whole career,
- 8:16every one of those guys were traded or let go or went to
- 8:19another organization because the organization in Rizzo and
- 8:22Martinez could not get. And by the way, they have a very
- 8:24rich owner. Their owner has money.
- 8:26It's not like he was born. He's one of the richer owners in
- 8:29the major leagues. They never kept their players.
- 8:32Could you imagine? Just think about this job, Think
- 8:35about this. If they kept Bryce Harper, Juan
- 8:38Soto, Strasbourg and Max Scherzer on this roster, how
- 8:43many championships they would have won?
- 8:45Just think about it, how many championships would have this
- 8:48team won if they kept all these guys on this roster?
- 8:52Rendon, remember him? He wasn't good when he went.
- 8:54He went somewhere else and he was 1/3 baseman and he he was a
- 8:57great player too, with the National when he left, when he.
- 9:00Left. That's when he actually wanted
- 9:01to play, though. Yeah, exactly.
- 9:03But just think about that. If you look at that roster right
- 9:06now, could you imagine if that roster was still together today?
- 9:11I mean, you're talking about maybe three titles.
- 9:13And I think that's how good they could have been.
- 9:15And I blame Rizzo, I blame Martinez.
- 9:17They didn't keep this team together, didn't keep this
- 9:19roster together. And it was problems.
- 9:21They brought these relief pitchers.
- 9:22I'm not going to mention any names.
- 9:24They they brought in these guys that just didn't get along with
- 9:27their superstar players, Bryce Harper being one of them.
- 9:30And that's why Bryce decided, hey, you know what, you don't
- 9:32want to pay me. You don't want me here.
- 9:33I'm going elsewhere. I go to Philadelphia.
- 9:35He wanted to be a Yankee because his father was a Mickey Mantle
- 9:37fan. So it's, it's been a problem for
- 9:39this organization, keeping stars in this organization, and that's
- 9:43why they're gone. They should have been gone five
- 9:45years ago. It's interesting they have one
- 9:46of the more fascinating 10 years when you look at it, because
- 9:48you're right. I, I agree with you.
- 9:49I probably would have fired him before they ended up winning a
- 9:51World Series because a lot of the moves they were making at
- 9:53the time were a lot of overpays on trades.
- 9:56Adam Eaton trading all those guys away to the White Sox at
- 9:58the time of two or three top prospects at the time.
- 10:00It seemed kind of weird, like you mentioned, overpaying a lot
- 10:03of the what we say about the Phillies bullpen now or their
- 10:05bullpen for a while, kind of a revolving door.
- 10:08And then they do these other things that make it work.
- 10:10They get great values value in these trades back for Soto and
- 10:13Max Scherzer and all that. These young core has been nice
- 10:15and now you decide to fire him. It's just very weird timing the
- 10:17way it happens because it's kind of an up and down tenure the way
- 10:20it's happened now. I never thought Dave Martinez
- 10:22when he took over as the Nationals manager was ever a
- 10:25amazing manager like he was probably, if you look at
- 10:27managers of one World Series, probably one of the lower ones.
- 10:29But he still won a World Series and now the team is rebuilding
- 10:32and all of a sudden like he becomes a scapegoat.
- 10:34At the same time, maybe there was a player relationship issue.
- 10:36Maybe he's not as good with the younger players because manage a
- 10:39veteran team. When they won the World Series
- 10:41in 2019 and that was even losing Harper, they still had, like you
- 10:44said, Rendon, Strasbourg, they brought in Howie Kendrick and
- 10:46Brian Dozier, guys like that. So it's one of those things
- 10:49where maybe it didn't fit with the younger players, but Rizzo
- 10:52at the same time was making these good trades and now you
- 10:54decide to fire him. Seems like a very trend dynamic.
- 10:56I agree. It's like 2017 or 18 and it
- 10:58didn't make much sense to keep him at that point.
- 11:00But then I think he did everything he showed to save it
- 11:02and then now all of a sudden you trade him now before the trade
- 11:04deadline, you're throwing rookies into the fire.
- 11:05It seems very odd. Yeah, it's I was just going back
- 11:11through and the dudes that they've had come through that
- 11:14organization. I mean, yeah, Ryan Zimmerman
- 11:17kind of tailed off the end of his career, but he had a great
- 11:19run, Trey. Turner had.
- 11:20I forgot about him too. Yeah, Trey Turner literally came
- 11:24up with them. And you know, when you when you
- 11:26look at all the talent that they've had like come through
- 11:30and not only, I mean, shit, you had Dusty Baker at the helm too,
- 11:33you know, so you had all kinds of opportunities to do a lot
- 11:38more than what they've done. I just it it, it surprises me
- 11:42that it took this long really, and especially because we don't
- 11:45see it a lot in baseball when they do it kind of mid season
- 11:48or, you know, in in this situation.
- 11:51So yeah, I would it, it didn't surprise me by any means.
- 11:55I definitely do agree that I I thought it should have happened
- 11:58a lot sooner than it did. And, and it'll be interesting to
- 12:01see kind of what direction they're going to try and go.
- 12:04And you know, they've got some, they've got some young talent.
- 12:07And I think you know, with, with what they've experienced before
- 12:11in the past, how are they going to use them?
- 12:13Are they going to do exactly kind of what they did and like,
- 12:16hey, we're going to try for a couple years and then hey, see,
- 12:19we're going to, we're going to. Go they're they're an
- 12:21organization and that really works like a small market
- 12:23organization. They're their owner's one of the
- 12:25richer owners in all of baseball.
- 12:28And I know that because we know Charlie slows.
- 12:30He's been on a show and he tells me all the time how rich their
- 12:34owner is and why he doesn't really dig into his pockets and
- 12:36keep these guys there with the organization.
- 12:39I think it's been a big problem over the years and I I blame
- 12:42Martinez. I think Martinez is a guy that
- 12:44should have been fighting for guys like Bryce Harper, fighting
- 12:47for guys like Trey Turner that should have stayed there.
- 12:50Why do you think Bryce Harper and Trey Turner are playing for
- 12:53the same organization right now in Philadelphia?
- 12:55Those guys loved each other. They were like brothers.
- 12:57And they go to the an organization that's in the same
- 13:00division as them. So it just shows you the way the
- 13:04organization works. They don't keep their players,
- 13:06they don't keep their players happy.
- 13:08And, and again, you go back and somebody like Dave Martinez.
- 13:11What scares me about Dave Martinez if let's say the
- 13:14Yankees decide, hey, you know what, we're going to part with
- 13:16Brian Cashman and we're going to just dig deep and we're going to
- 13:19bring in Dave Martinez to take over this organization.
- 13:22The Yankees are making a sloppy mistake.
- 13:24And again, with how Steinbrenner, I don't know what
- 13:27to predict on the way the Yankees are going to go if Brian
- 13:30Cashman or the Yankees decide to part ways with one another.
- 13:34So it scares the hell out of me when you hear Dave Martinez on
- 13:37the market for AGM job. So that's the scary part over
- 13:41there as far as Rizzo's concerned.
- 13:44Rizzo should not have had a job as a manager.
- 13:46OK. I, I just think very overrated.
- 13:48The talent that he's had there over the years.
- 13:50It just makes you sick to your stomach.
- 13:52Look at the pitchers they've had, look at the roster they've
- 13:55had and they've won 1 championship.
- 13:57And really without any of those guys besides a 19 year old Juan
- 14:00Soto and Max Scherzer, that's all they really.
- 14:03Because remember, Strasburg was not healthy that year.
- 14:06So they didn't have really the pitching, Jeff, you would have
- 14:09thought they were going to have over the years with Strasburg
- 14:12and Scherzer, that 1-2 punch that you would, but expected
- 14:14they were going to be just so dominant.
- 14:16And that, by the way, that that roster, when it comes to their
- 14:19bullpen when they won, was absolutely horrible.
- 14:22Yeah, they had a lot of. Random was horrible and.
- 14:24There were a lot of random over performers that year before that
- 14:26they were always struggling in the playoffs because of their
- 14:29bullpen. A lot of the time Nathan
- 14:30mentioned in the in the private chat Drew store and he was one
- 14:32of them that it seemed like he was always allowing in the 9th
- 14:35inning. A lot of home runs to teams that
- 14:37again weren't home run hitting teams.
- 14:38Those were a 97 win national team in 2012 that lost to a very
- 14:41scrappy Cardinals team. There was a the Giants beat them
- 14:45I think when they were a 98 win team in 2014.
- 14:47So it took them a while to get there and then all of a sudden
- 14:49as underdogs, sometimes teams just do Bender as underdogs.
- 14:52They have one of the best underdog runs.
- 14:53They beat a Brewers team that was very good.
- 14:55They came back off the hater and the bat bullpen.
- 14:58They beat the Dodgers. They beat a cheating Astros
- 15:01team. Like they beat a lot of really
- 15:02good teams that year. And again, I, I see that
- 15:05everybody is going to take shots at certain players like Granton.
- 15:09That was there. I, I like Granton as a National.
- 15:12He was a good third baseman. He was an All Star third baseman
- 15:15with the Nationals. Yes, we're we're eventually
- 15:18leaving the organization, I think went to the Angels.
- 15:20I mean, he did steal from the Angels.
- 15:22But again, it's an organization. The Angels have been an
- 15:25organization that takes on players and over paced players
- 15:28and they never banned out. So it's not, it's not, it's not
- 15:32his fault that he went to the organization and got paid that
- 15:34kind of money. You, you don't go after players
- 15:37that you know, don't have the love that you thought they had
- 15:40for the game of baseball. Now, I I will say this before we
- 15:44move on to King of the hill, the nationals organization are set
- 15:48up very well. Now we'll see how these guys
- 15:51turn out as players. All right, I don't know what
- 15:54they're going to turn out to be. I mean wood looks like he's
- 15:58going to be a star. We've heard what's his name
- 16:01again? Come on the show last week,
- 16:03Towers, towers come in and like, it was like, like sweating all
- 16:07over and wanting to come in his pants on on Jane Mack.
- 16:10Because he was on the Orioles. But I'm going to tell you, I
- 16:13don't know what Mackenzie Gore is going to be, Gray or
- 16:17Abraham's going to be. We got to see what these guys
- 16:19going to be. I don't care what they've done
- 16:21in one year. I want to see what they do in a
- 16:235 to 10 year span. When they become the players
- 16:26that we think they're going to be, then we can come over and
- 16:29and argue our points. That's all I mean and.
- 16:31Allegedly the second best prospect in that Soto trade is
- 16:33another outfielder, Robert Hassel.
- 16:35They haven't even called up yet. But whatever, I, I just think
- 16:39obviously the National Center organization, that's just an
- 16:42absolute joke and, and a debacle and hopefully they figure it out
- 16:45and, and put the right guy at the helm because the wrong
- 16:48person. Reach out to the Yankees.
- 16:50What's her name again? That was running the Marlins.
- 16:52Yeah. Why don't you hire Ink?
- 16:54She's great. She did a great job with the
- 16:55Marlins before she stepped down. She hasn't been hired yet.
- 16:59Reach out to the Yankees or reach out to her and see if
- 17:01she's available to to talk to. So I I think they, I think you.
- 17:04Thought she was thinking like you.
- 17:05She was going to like be a Yankees predecessor for a while.
- 17:08I remember that. All right, let's let's go to
- 17:10King of the Hill. And here's the king of the Hill.
- 17:14This, Bobby, is the Beltline. You never, ever hit below that.
- 17:18Not that kind of King of the hill.
- 17:19You dumb Ready? Are you ready?
- 17:22This is King of the Hill. OK guys, welcome to King of the
- 17:28Hill. I guess Tommy's out, so we need.
- 17:31I like anal. For this one, here it is guys,
- 17:35King of the Hill. We are of a trivia contest to
- 17:37see if someone can dethrone the King Errol.
- 17:41Once again, I think Errol's only lost.
- 17:43Carl plays with himself. Despite all of the playing with
- 17:47himself by Carl, he has not won. It was only King Zach.
- 17:51Let's get Zach, the former king. I think it's going to take this
- 17:55one off. So I think we're going to go
- 17:56with Jake and or Zach is going to come in on this.
- 18:00Who's who's the Aaron? 'S Oh no, I was just coming in
- 18:02because I thought you said my name.
- 18:03I bet. I did.
- 18:04Oh, nice haircut. Zach, Jake and Aaron come in.
- 18:07They're going to be the competitors tonight, along with
- 18:11Jabba and Speedy. I will take my spot over here
- 18:16for King of the Hill. It's only going to be 4 in this
- 18:18round. That's how we're going to do it
- 18:19from now on. Baseball is the theme tonight.
- 18:23Are you guys ready to play? All right, here we go with the
- 18:27first round, king of the hill. Here it is, peasant fight, best
- 18:34catchers of all time. So we're looking for people who
- 18:39were primarily catchers their entire career, not played for
- 18:44like one season. A catcher was a great player.
- 18:46All right, That is the only rule.
- 18:49We will get it set up. We will start like we're reading
- 18:53Hebrew from right to left. We'll go with Jake then followed
- 18:57by Jabba, Aaron and Speedy for two for round one.
- 19:00Jake. All right, so for my first pick,
- 19:04I'm gonna go for an old one. I definitely wasn't alive for
- 19:06it, but I'm gonna go to Yogi Berra, Hall of Famer, multi time
- 19:10MVP and All Star and 10 World Series.
- 19:13That's that's pretty ridiculous. But yeah, pretty much like Bill
- 19:17Russell just won all the championships back in the day.
- 19:19So I'm gonna go with the Yogi Berra.
- 19:21Jabba. I'm going to go, you know what,
- 19:26because he was one of my teammates and I grew up watching
- 19:29them. I'm going to go Pudge.
- 19:31Ivan Rodriguez kind of made throwing runners out sexy, other
- 19:35than he called a fastball away every time the runner was on
- 19:371st. And it pissed me off.
- 19:40But kind of just one of those guys that kind of epitomized
- 19:44that position. Yeah, they were, they were guys
- 19:46throwing runners out. But at the rate that he did it,
- 19:48nobody, nobody did it as prolific as he did.
- 19:51And you know, he could swing the bat a little bit too.
- 19:54Who knows? Maybe he did steroids too.
- 19:56Who knows who hasn't? Whatever.
- 19:57But yeah, he's got to be up there.
- 20:00Aaron. I'm going to go with the with an
- 20:02oldie. I obviously wasn't going for
- 20:04this, but Johnny Bench considered one of the best
- 20:06catchers in baseball with the Cincinnati Reds.
- 20:08I mean, obviously you just hear Johnny Bench and you and you
- 20:11know what you're talking about, right?
- 20:14With with the Reds, like I said, with P Rose in the mid 70s is
- 20:17the epitome of what a catcher should be.
- 20:19And like I said, you say his name and you know he was right
- 20:21away. So I'm going to go with Johnny
- 20:22Bench. Excellent speedy for two.
- 20:24Alright, I'll go with 1 old school and then 11 new school.
- 20:27Obviously I'll go as a Mets fan. Mike Piazza will arguably the
- 20:30best home run hitting. Definitely school.
- 20:33No no no no. The second one is old school.
- 20:35This ones the new school. No Mike Piaz, obviously one of
- 20:37the better power hitting catchers in in his era too.
- 20:40Did it for a very long time, even when he was before, he was
- 20:42with the Mets, with the Dodgers as well and with the Marlins was
- 20:44very consistent throughout his career hitting wise.
- 20:47So he's the first one and then I'll go with an old school one.
- 20:50Same era a little bit before with Yogi Berra is Brooklyn
- 20:53Dodgers, Roy Campanella, one of the better catchers in that era
- 20:55as well. Be great with many Hall of Fame
- 20:57pitchers calling the game is one of the biggest things with
- 21:00catchers. To be able to have those kinds
- 21:01of connections with the pitchers too and still have some good
- 21:03offensive numbers for that era as well.
- 21:06Excellent. Moving back the other way, Round
- 21:082 Aaron I'm. Going to go with the new school
- 21:11one with someone I look watched a couple years ago, Buster
- 21:14Posey. Buster Posey is considered
- 21:16probably a very up there one of the best catchers in baseball,
- 21:19at least for his time as well. He would be time with series
- 21:22champion with the Giants again, the epitome or what a catch
- 21:25should should do behind the plate.
- 21:27And if from the seat put one of those rules in with with that
- 21:31big play at the play where he he had broken his leg or or
- 21:35whatever it was, but was supposedly.
- 21:37I mean, it's just a great, great athlete.
- 21:39He's done what he has to do now and with the still with the
- 21:42giants and off run off the spot. I mean, he's just considered one
- 21:46of the best catchers honestly. Jabba Sorry, Speedy, but I'm
- 21:50taking Gary Carter. Just I, I I loved watching Gary
- 21:56Carter and I was I was short and fat.
- 21:59So I was a catcher for for most of my high school career.
- 22:02So there was it was a position that was, was huge.
- 22:05I mean, when basically single handedly won game five of the
- 22:07World Series in 86 played for 19 years And and to do it at that
- 22:13position to play that long is, is pretty impressive. 11 time
- 22:16All Star number retired just one of those guys that he, you know,
- 22:22you could root for and, you know, loved, loved watching him.
- 22:25They called him the kid and you know, he played like that and it
- 22:28was, it was always fun to to watch him play.
- 22:32Jake for two. All right, so for my second pick
- 22:36I'm going to go with Yadir Molina, multi time All Star
- 22:41couple World Series, 9 Golden gloves and then 4 platinum
- 22:45gloves. So it pretty much just
- 22:46epitomizes defense and what you need from a catcher, someone
- 22:49who's, you know, always going to be reliable and always going to
- 22:52be force back there, you know, just watching everything and
- 22:56calling things out. So he was fantastic.
- 22:58And then for my last pick, I'm going to go a little bit of
- 23:01Homer here, a little bit of our new school.
- 23:03I'm going to JT Romuto pretty much is a, you know, solid
- 23:06player. He's been doing that for a long
- 23:08time, started with Miami, comes up here to Philly.
- 23:10He's been so a defensive player, you know, decent hitter here and
- 23:14there. He's had great moments,
- 23:15especially during that miracle run we almost had to the World
- 23:18Series. Didn't quite get it done, but he
- 23:19had a lot of collective moments in that series.
- 23:21So. That's for my birthday.
- 23:23All right, back to Java. I'm, I'm going to go as a Homer
- 23:27myself too, because I was a Braves fan and I'm going to go
- 23:32with Javi Lopez. I I think this one for me is, is
- 23:37kind of twofold. Obviously won the World Series
- 23:40in 95. They won the division 15 years
- 23:43in a row, only won it one year. But to be able to navigate those
- 23:47arms and to be able to have the opportunity to catch all the
- 23:51goes those guys and to see the the Cy Youngs and everything
- 23:56that he did, he was he was the Puerto Rican athlete of the year
- 23:59for four straight years. So it goes deeper than, you
- 24:02know, just obviously playing here.
- 24:05He became Greg Maddox's personal catcher has caught no hitters.
- 24:09He was the National League MVP and I just I am, I'm a Braves
- 24:14Homer. So he, he, he goes down for me.
- 24:17Aaron. Yeah, I'm gonna go with another
- 24:20one that I watched growing up, Joe Joe Mauer.
- 24:23I mean, again, someone that is always, it was consistent behind
- 24:27the plate, catching forever, was pitching with the Twins, won an
- 24:30MVP, was recently inducted into Hall of Fame.
- 24:34Look, a lot of people can say he's overrated, but he's
- 24:36definitely, he's definitely up there with what he did.
- 24:38It consists while he's playing and in his era.
- 24:40So I'll stick with Joe Mauer. Speedy.
- 24:42All right. I'll go with one that was gone
- 24:44too soon unfortunately, but had a very good peak in his career.
- 24:47That was Thurman Munson, one of the better catchers in that in
- 24:50the 70s, late 60s, early 70s and again his offensive numbers.
- 24:53If he again what happened to him, very unfortunate that
- 24:56didn't happen. Could have been the best among
- 24:58the position. All right, Errol, that's
- 25:01everybody. I didn't think I heard.
- 25:03I don't think I heard someone say Carlton Fisk.
- 25:05I was a little surprised by that, but not.
- 25:07Making a Red Sox. Well, I mean, he played a couple
- 25:09of places, but famous, famous home run, as you know, for the
- 25:13Red Sox. He's known as a Red Sox.
- 25:16I thought I thought somebody might go Bill Dickey.
- 25:19Yeah, you can go all the way back to Bill Dickey.
- 25:21That would have been a good one too.
- 25:22But Errol, who you picking to move on to the?
- 25:25Joust all right, so I like Jake's picks.
- 25:29I like Aaron's picks, but I'm I'm going to go speedy
- 25:32definitely is moving on. I mean, I don't think you can
- 25:34argue that every single one one of the guys that Speedy picked
- 25:39our Hall of Famers and and some of the greatest catches we we
- 25:42can have. And I love Yogi Berra and I love
- 25:44Yogi Berra too. So I want to go with Jake, but
- 25:47I'm going to give Jabba. I want Jabba.
- 25:49I want to see what Jabba can do in the next round.
- 25:51He's a baseball guy. Let's see what he can do against
- 25:53Speedy in the second round. So I'm going to go job and
- 25:55Speedy. All right, our interns are both
- 25:58eliminated in the first round today.
- 26:01Well, let's move on to Round 2, the joust.
- 26:05And here it is, boys. This is, I'm pretty proud of
- 26:07this category, best double play combos of all time.
- 26:12So you got to tell me the second baseman and the shortstop and
- 26:17the team obviously probably played for a number of years
- 26:20together. All right, all right, here we go
- 26:23back at it. And on this one, Errol, tell us
- 26:26who you think should begin. I'm going to go Jabba.
- 26:30All right, Jabba, you go first. You're muted.
- 26:33You're muted. I'm going to go because I got to
- 26:39know him and I think the other one gets shunned.
- 26:41They did it for 19 years. That would be sweet.
- 26:44Lou Whitaker and Allen Treble to do it that long with one another
- 26:52once a Hall of Famer. I sweet lose in it for Detroit.
- 26:56But getting to know them and just see you could tell their
- 26:59camaraderie was just unbelievable and you know they
- 27:01would they would talk about one another and for 19 years to do
- 27:05it and they literally they hold the record for in Major League
- 27:10history because that's pretty unbelievable to do.
- 27:13And so that that one for me and kind of, you know, as a baseball
- 27:18fan to like get to see some of these guys and be able to like
- 27:23chat with them and like it brings the kid out and me and it
- 27:25was it's always fun. Like then you'd get to talk to,
- 27:28you know, guys like Al Kaline and like, I wish they would
- 27:30bring back old Timer's Day because that was one of my
- 27:33favorite days. But hopefully soon here and
- 27:36maybe maybe I'll go back because I'll be in my 40s at this point.
- 27:40So I said I'd never go back before I was 40.
- 27:43So so we're getting there. So.
- 27:45I hate that they got rid of that too all.
- 27:47Right. Yeah, it was, I mean, obviously
- 27:49the Covic thing and then everybody, well, what was
- 27:52happening was they weren't getting the younger generation
- 27:55of that now the kids that watched us grow up.
- 27:59And I think they'll start to get it more if they would like I I
- 28:02definitely would come back now, you know, now that my son's in
- 28:05college and you know, we're not chasing our kids around as much.
- 28:07So hopefully they do. I think it's, it's really cool.
- 28:10And you've seen other organizations kind of do
- 28:13something similar to it. So I think it's really cool.
- 28:16Before I get before I get my pick, I just want to mention
- 28:18Jabba. I was at because the Mets
- 28:19brought it back for the first time in a while too in 2022 and
- 28:22it was it was so funny. Like Daniel Murphy was playing
- 28:24it at like 3 years removed from one of his last Major League
- 28:27appearance. Was like.
- 28:28Just so much like faster than everyone else it was.
- 28:31Talk about a guy that got screwed, yeah.
- 28:35Another guy was with the Nationals.
- 28:37Yeah. All right.
- 28:37Let's keep going. Speedy.
- 28:38You're up, man. So I'm gonna go back to the same
- 28:40era that I mentioned a catcher for, and that was the 1950s
- 28:42Brooklyn Dodgers with Pee Wee Reese and Jackie Robinson.
- 28:45One of the best ones, one of the best overall infields in that
- 28:47time, obviously Pee Wee Reese, one of the best defensive
- 28:50shortstops we've ever seen as well.
- 28:51And then Jackie Robinson, just like great all around athlete as
- 28:54well. So 1950s Dodgers, those two.
- 28:56Take my first one and for the second one, I'll go further back
- 28:59to the 1970's, The Big Red Machine with Joe Morgan, Dave
- 29:03Concepcio. Damn it.
- 29:04There's another one Concepcio, and one of the most underrated
- 29:06shortstops ever. And Joe Morgan, one of the best
- 29:09overall second baseman we've ever seen.
- 29:12Speedy is good man. All right, Jabba, you're up for
- 29:16for two. I'm up for two.
- 29:19You know what, I'm going to go another one being a Homer.
- 29:23I am going to go Omar Vizquel and Roberto Alamar.
- 29:27You've got almost 20 gold gloves between those guys.
- 29:32Kind of the the modern day Ozzy Smith of what Omar could do with
- 29:36the glove. I think second most old gloves
- 29:41by Venezuelan and then Robbie just obviously wasn't with them
- 29:48as long as the duration wasn't. But some of the plays that those
- 29:51two made together and they they set a record one year for most
- 29:55old plays turned. And I think they had like a 982
- 29:59fielding percentage between the two.
- 30:01And they they got to everything. They weren't Sean Dunstan and
- 30:04Ryan Sandberg. Ryan Sandberg would Gator arm
- 30:06the shit so he can he could keep his his fielding percentage up.
- 30:10So, oh, yeah. And so, yes.
- 30:16But yeah. So that that's probably.
- 30:19And then I'm going to go, I mean, I have to.
- 30:20And it's it's Ozzie Smith and Tom her, Tom her obviously isn't
- 30:25the biggest thing that you can get.
- 30:26But if you go look at Tom, her number, he was like, I wanted to
- 30:30go like the prototypical Braves fan, Jeff Blouser, Mark Lemke,
- 30:34because they were boring. But they made all the plays.
- 30:36They played together for, you know, 14 years.
- 30:40Well, yeah, Ozzie Smith and and Tom Hur from, you know, the
- 30:43beginning of the 80s till 87. And just just to see the way the
- 30:47wizard worked and how he made Tom Hur that much better.
- 30:50And, and in the way that they, they went about their business.
- 30:53It was, it was fun. I, I got to watch them as you
- 30:57know, they were done and I was, I was a kid, but my dad was a
- 31:00huge Ozzie Smith fan. So I got to, I got to see all
- 31:03those highlights. So it was a a found appreciation
- 31:06of the things that he could do that I sure as hell couldn't do.
- 31:10All right, Speedy finish up the round.
- 31:12All right, as much as I can't can't stand this team, they were
- 31:15a very good infield and very good double play combo.
- 31:17The Phillies with Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins.
- 31:20Definitely Rollins was one of the better defensive shortstops
- 31:23as I I couldn't stand that Phillies team as a Mets fan.
- 31:26The two collapses were still scarring to this day.
- 31:30But Utley again, well-rounded player all around and Jimmy
- 31:32Rollins, not a Hall of Famer but still one of the best.
- 31:35Fastest defensive shortstops range wise as well.
- 31:39All right, Errol, who is taking you on to become the next king?
- 31:46It's hard, man. That's hard.
- 31:48That's all hard. It's so there are a lot of good
- 31:53choices. It's so close.
- 31:54Both guys, I was going to throw you off and be like Jeter and
- 31:58Canoe, yeah. I'm surprised Speedy didn't say
- 32:01Ray Ordonez and Jeff Kent. I'm going to, I'm going to go
- 32:04with Jabba. Let's see what Jabba could do in
- 32:06the next round. I don't think Ken was really as
- 32:08good defensively and again. He wasn't.
- 32:10He raked though, no? Cordonia's wasn't.
- 32:13He's among the best, like second baseman, like all around.
- 32:16Yeah, for sure. But his defense, I don't think
- 32:17was as good. I'm going to go with Jabba.
- 32:20Let's. Let's move.
- 32:21All right? Everybody else come back in.
- 32:23We got the round to become the king coming right up right now.
- 32:27So let's get our voters in. I don't know why it keeps
- 32:30changing camera angles. Aaron can come back in.
- 32:34Here we go. And who are we missing?
- 32:36Missing one more person. Zach is not on camera right now.
- 32:41No, no, that's fine. Zach, you can come in on this.
- 32:44All right, The last rounds. Here we go.
- 32:49Biggest wrench. That's pretty funny.
- 32:52Oh, we. Could just we could just do that
- 32:54instead of what I have but. The answer is Patrick.
- 32:57So who I have there's no debate. All right, so this one is
- 33:01emotional. It could be either regular
- 33:04season or playoffs, but I want to know the worst collapses of
- 33:10all. These are teams I'll go #1 the
- 33:15New York Yankees, OK, that that that up three O Mariano Rivera
- 33:20on multiple times. You would have thought, hey, the
- 33:23Yankees are going to win the World Series.
- 33:25They had the best chance that year to go all the way with, you
- 33:29know, obviously Rodriguez, Derek Jeter, all those guys.
- 33:32And they choked. They let the Red Sox come back.
- 33:34And then Johnny Damon in Game 7 just put on a freaking show
- 33:39against the New York Yankees. So I'm going to go that, yeah,
- 33:43that that Yankee team, that Yankee collapse.
- 33:45Horrible. You know what's?
- 33:48Funny about that too, Arrow. Remember the movie Fever Pitch?
- 33:51Yes, yes. They had to redo the movie
- 33:54because they had them going down to lose, so they had to put it
- 33:57back in production. I know I because that's that's
- 33:59not how they ended it. All right, in this round, we're
- 34:02just going to go back and forth. Not like no one's going to go 2
- 34:04times in a row. So Jabba, go ahead.
- 34:07I mean, I got to go the 2017 Atlanta Falcons belonging A283
- 34:11lead, right? And of course it had to be to
- 34:14Tom Brady and losing it in overtime.
- 34:16I mean, just an absolute debacle.
- 34:18And you kind of just saw it unraveling between your eyes and
- 34:21then you're just like, OK, well, it's just Tom Brady.
- 34:23He's got this. Oh, look what happens.
- 34:26Yeah, that one. That one was rough for the boys.
- 34:29If you're if you're an Atlanta fan, they're probably now going
- 34:32to celebrate the the All Star game there.
- 34:34But that one's I think is is is cut deeper for a long time all.
- 34:38Right over to Errol. How about the Boston Red Sox in
- 34:411986 collapsing against the New York Mets?
- 34:45Remember that right through the wickets.
- 34:48I remember that as the New York Mets.
- 34:50That was the last time they won in a World Series.
- 34:52In 1986, Doc Hood in Daryl Strawberry and and they have a
- 34:571-1 cents. And that was the Boston Red Sox.
- 35:00Horrible, horrible loss the way they lost in that series.
- 35:04So I'm going to go that that that was the year 1986 Boston
- 35:07Red Sox. I'm going to I'm going to double
- 35:11up with you on that Errol, because you know, obviously I'm
- 35:14not a Red Sox fan. So I'm going to use the 2011 Red
- 35:17Sox when they lost 20 of 27 with a nine game lead in September
- 35:22and missed the playoffs entirely.
- 35:25Didn't even get there. Just an absolute epic fail.
- 35:29And we've seen it on both sides. We've seen when the Rockies won
- 35:3122 out of 27 to get to the playoffs and then obviously
- 35:36swept until every series, then get to the damn World Series and
- 35:41had like 2 weeks off and then get swept.
- 35:42But yeah, to be to lose 20 and 27 with A9 cushion lead in
- 35:48September and not even make the playoffs like just missed it
- 35:51entirely, that is God awful. Job but was that the team that
- 35:55the Yankees swept them in like A5 game series because they had
- 35:59to make up 1 and there was like 5 games in a row they just took
- 36:02them to the woodshed? Because that's how they used to
- 36:04do it. They would put, they would back
- 36:06end all the like rain delays and you would literally lose your
- 36:10days off in September or they would, they would do a double
- 36:12header. But yeah, it was.
- 36:15Yeah, that was yeah, because that was.
- 36:17Five game sweep I remember. It was a 5 game sweep because
- 36:20yeah, I was in the bullpen that year.
- 36:23Bam, right, Let's go back to Errol.
- 36:27Well, I'm going to, I'm trying to go back because I had to
- 36:30remember the year and I found it.
- 36:31It was the 2011 Texas Rangers. Remember that, that absolute
- 36:37debacle against the Cardinals. I remember that.
- 36:41It was absolutely horrible losing the way they did.
- 36:44Lance Berkman, remember him? I I remember him very.
- 36:48Well, he was a Yankee. Yes, he was.
- 36:50And he was the big reason why He was the big reason why the the
- 36:54Cardinals came back in that series.
- 36:56That was absolutely putrid, the way the Texas Rangers and
- 36:59Washington as he choked not once but two years in a row, the way
- 37:03he did so the Texas Rangers. Right.
- 37:08Last one, Jabba. We got to get got to get
- 37:11something. You know, you, you brought this
- 37:13up. So I think I'm probably going to
- 37:16go run with it. I'm going to go with John
- 37:20McEnroe in the 84 French. He had won 42 matches in a row,
- 37:25which is the longest undefeated streak to start a tennis season.
- 37:29He'd won 13 titles. It was one away from the record
- 37:33for a Grand Slam that year. He was 21 and O, and literally
- 37:37he's playing some dude that nobody knows.
- 37:40And McEnroe gets upset, losing both in the tie breaks and gets
- 37:45bumped after setting a record for the most wins to start in
- 37:49not only a season but in Grand Slam tennis.
- 37:54All right, it's time to vote. I'm going to go 1st.
- 37:58I'm going to pick Errol on this one at the Yankees collapse.
- 38:01It's hard to beat that one. I remember everything about that
- 38:05game. In that series.
- 38:07There was a Ruben Sierra ground rule.
- 38:08Double that if it stayed in the Yankees, win that series.
- 38:11Who could forget him as a Yankee?
- 38:14As an A's. It's bad bounce.
- 38:16You want to talk about wearing chains?
- 38:18Ruben Sierra would wear some chain.
- 38:19He could. Hit the ball.
- 38:20Too literally, literally, if that ball doesn't bounce into
- 38:23the stands on that short fence, the Yankees win that game.
- 38:25That's all that was all that needed to happen.
- 38:27But I thought Errol's picks really got like that Texas big
- 38:31the end. And what was your second pick
- 38:32again, Errol? Yet I went with the Red Sox
- 38:378686, one of the most famous, you know, the most famous joke
- 38:41jobs of all time. I I got.
- 38:43If you notice, I went all baseball.
- 38:46I went all baseball. I didn't want to look past that.
- 38:48I went. All yeah, you didn't have to.
- 38:49You could have said, like Greg Norman, you know, collapse.
- 38:52I don't look at that, I just remember what's in my hand.
- 38:54Carl, pick the good word of the. Confidence.
- 38:56The only one. The blown me with the Oilers
- 38:58against the. Bills.
- 38:59The only one that I did not remember the year was the Texas
- 39:02Ranchers. I had to look that up.
- 39:03Right. But the the the 2 ones that the
- 39:05the Yankees and the Red Sox, those were my 2 collapses that I
- 39:08definitely. Yeah, that's the 2011.
- 39:11I was. That was the other one too,
- 39:13because I was like I played during all of it and like you're
- 39:15watching it in front of your eyes.
- 39:16You're like, what is going? On they were the American League
- 39:18favorites that year. Yeah.
- 39:21All right, let's go to Zach. I'm going to go with Errol too.
- 39:24I mean, I don't know much baseball, but I know about those
- 39:26collapses. So it's just.
- 39:29You can't really know baseball and not know this collapses, so
- 39:31I'm just going to go with Errol. He just had better picks in my
- 39:33opinion. So that's who I think.
- 39:36All right, Aaron. I mean, they both said it,
- 39:40Errol. I mean, you the two first picks.
- 39:42I mean, those are the first things you you learn when you're
- 39:45when you're growing up watching baseball, the 86 Red Sox.
- 39:48And then obviously I was born. I was only two years old when it
- 39:51happened, but 2004 Red Sox. Yeah, I, I know, but.
- 39:56It's yeah 3. Years old baby baby.
- 40:00Just a all right that clinches it for arrow Speedy.
- 40:02Why don't you get tell us your breakdown.
- 40:03I was. Going to say that was AI.
- 40:05Love the tennis one at the end. Jabba that actually made it.
- 40:08I'm going to go with Arrow too, but that made a much closer.
- 40:10Like I thought the description of that was really good.
- 40:13I just like Arrow describing the O3.
- 40:16The O 4 Red Sox versus Yankees collapse was like it was going
- 40:20to be tough to beat after that. You put up a valiant effort, but
- 40:22I would have picked Arrow too. I believe we were calling that
- 40:26five game sweep, the Boston Massacre at the time because it
- 40:29was amazing. I don't.
- 40:30I don't ever want to remember that year ever again.
- 40:34Ever. All right, Jake, finish it up.
- 40:36Oh damn, I was going to say I wish you guys let me go first.
- 40:38I was actually going to pick Java because to me, like if you
- 40:41want to talk about a collapse like that, Falcons pick against
- 40:44the Patriots. Like if you want to talk about
- 40:46ruining A franchise, like Atlanta has never gotten back
- 40:50from that ever since. Like, sure, they've had seasons
- 40:52where they were mediocre, OK, but they have never reached that
- 40:56height ever again. So to me, like that's the
- 40:58epitome of a collapse when you just ruin everything great that
- 41:02you once had and it's all gone. But Congrats to Errol, but good
- 41:06job. And all they had to do is run
- 41:08the ball. It's a shame O'harel gets to
- 41:10stay the King another week here on King of the.
- 41:16Hill Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm just kidding.
- 41:20Anyways, all right, ladies and gentlemen, we call this Dial It
- 41:23Up. We interrupted this regularly
- 41:25scheduled hot mix to bring an important news.
- 41:27We got a. Big broadcast to do here.
- 41:29We're about to dial it up. All right, guys, this is our
- 41:36Lightning Round news segment where we got five stories that
- 41:40Errol has not been shown and he's going to have to dial up a
- 41:44take and then one of us will comment on his take.
- 41:47Are you right, guys? Ready to dial it up?
- 41:51Yes. No.
- 41:51Maybe so. Let's take a dump.
- 41:53Let's. Go Here we go Errol.
- 41:55First story The Steelers give general manager Omar Khan a new
- 42:01three-year deal. This was an extension, so it's
- 42:04actually four years on Saturday, I guess it was announced on
- 42:08Saturday, it happened on Thursday.
- 42:09Khan has been active this offseason, acquiring DK Metcalf,
- 42:13Jalen Ramsey, Jonnu Smith and quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
- 42:17I believe we are building a championship roster and look
- 42:20forward to the 2025 season and beyond as our goals continue to
- 42:25be to bring another Super Bowl to the city of Pittsburgh and
- 42:28our great fans, said Con, who's been his 25th year with the
- 42:32Steelers franchise. He's been GM just the past since
- 42:352022 when he succeeded Kevin Colbert.
- 42:39So the question really is, is Con building a bright future in
- 42:43Pittsburgh or is he a con artist?
- 42:47Errol. Dial it up.
- 42:50Well, it's pretty serious. Now I'm going to set everybody
- 42:54on fire because you signed the one and only DK Metcalf and you
- 42:59will not and have not given TJ Watt his extension and his big
- 43:05contract. This guy should be making 4550
- 43:08million. If Miles Garrett's making that
- 43:10money, all these guys are making big.
- 43:12Mucho De Niro and your best player, your superstar player is
- 43:16still sitting in the offseason waiting for that big contract.
- 43:19This guy brought in Aaron Rodgers.
- 43:22OK, you had Russell W Russell Wilson there.
- 43:26You also had Justin Fields there, guys Justin Fields who
- 43:29you let go to The Jets because you decided to start Russell
- 43:33Wilson over him when you were four and two.
- 43:35Your organization is a joke. You're never going to win it, by
- 43:38the way. Eight straight seasons, eight
- 43:41first round exits. Khan should have never got an
- 43:44extension and Mike Tomlin could be on his way out as well after
- 43:48they choked in this year with the great Aaron Rodgers.
- 43:51And by the way, TJ, don't sign the contract.
- 43:54Sit back, relax and make sure that everybody enjoys the show.
- 43:58When you get paid the biggest contract in defense of football
- 44:02history, when you get $50 million so.
- 44:05Yeah, there's really not a lot of things you could justify this
- 44:07type of move with a lot of just replacing guys with either
- 44:11slight upgrades or question marks when it came to character
- 44:14or a little bit of both. In the case of DK Metcalf,
- 44:17obviously he's a better receiver on paper than George Pickens,
- 44:19but he's still very loud. You bring in Jalen Ramsey, who
- 44:22played well in Miami the last two years, is he definitively an
- 44:26upgrade over Minka Fitzpatrick talent wise?
- 44:28I don't think so. I think Minka Fitzpatrick's
- 44:29versatility is there. Yes, he's healthier.
- 44:31Yes, he's very good outside. It's not a definitive upgrade.
- 44:34And then there's Aaron Rodgers, which yes, he's like talent
- 44:37upgrade maybe over Russell Wilson.
- 44:39And he is a loudmouth in the locker room that drives these
- 44:43teams down. It just really doesn't make any
- 44:45sense to trust. It can't be anything better than
- 44:47just mediocrity at this point. I would say 9:00 and 8:00 at
- 44:51most. And I can't even trust that
- 44:52right now. And.
- 44:53You're going to pick it. Can he pick it?
- 44:56I could go on and on and on. The quarterbacks that he was
- 44:58after Ben Roethlisberger, he's been an absolute plus.
- 45:01We're trying to find veteran quarterbacks to come in or even
- 45:04quarterbacks that Mason Rudolph. Are you kidding me?
- 45:08Get out of here. This guy shouldn't have got it,
- 45:10shouldn't have gotten a three, three-year extension.
- 45:13You have TJ Watt, the best defensive player in the league
- 45:16and you still haven't extended him And you give DK Metcalf a
- 45:19guy that you didn't even draft the money that you gave him.
- 45:22What a joke. And I was very critical of
- 45:24Kohlberg too, but I thought he had a lot of really bad moves at
- 45:26the end of his tenure before he before he stepped down in 2022.
- 45:30But it's not like you're justifying to say that Khan is
- 45:32like doing anything this massive improvements.
- 45:37All right, guys, let's move on to the next story here coming
- 45:41up. Oh, here's a great picture.
- 45:43An old man found the mermaid. Yes, it's Bill Belichick's
- 45:46girlfriend who's apparently now blocking wrestling transfers.
- 45:52Jabba, you're going to love this one.
- 45:54Nebraska wrestling coach Mark Madden made some waves on Friday
- 45:59when he claimed there were some issues when an athlete was
- 46:02trying to transfer to UNC from Nebraska on his wrestling team
- 46:06because of head football coach Bill Belichick's girlfriends
- 46:11Jordan Hudson. Rob Cole, the North Carolina
- 46:14coach who I've known for 35 years and is a great friend of
- 46:17mine, called me up when they didn't let AJ into the school at
- 46:20North Carolina and AJ was already there training some and
- 46:24they didn't let him in in mission wise for various
- 46:27reasons. And Bill Belichick's girlfriend
- 46:30had something to do with that. Manning believes Hudson made
- 46:35sure he didn't come to the university because of an
- 46:37incident in high school where he filmed in the other underage
- 46:40friends having sex. It was, it was just an incident.
- 46:44There was no punishment that when he got to the college ranks
- 46:47from that, there are no. He claims that Hudson also
- 46:49impacted the status of a potential basketball player at
- 46:54UNC in a similar way. Not even football.
- 46:59Now it's affecting the great university in Nebraska.
- 47:01Jabba, time for Errol. Dial it up.
- 47:06First of all, Bill Belichick's wife, girlfriend, whatever she
- 47:09is slut is out there doing whatever she's doing over there
- 47:14on a football field. She should not be getting
- 47:15involved with any of the other programs.
- 47:19The fact that she is just shows you one thing.
- 47:21Bill Belichick has no control over her or her.
- 47:24You know what? Her vagina.
- 47:26Her vagina shakes and North Carolina listens and as far as
- 47:30I'm concerned, she should not be speaking and she should not be a
- 47:35point of any kind of return when everybody knows that this woman
- 47:39doesn't know what the hell she's talking about.
- 47:41She knows nothing about sports and all she does is get on her
- 47:44hands and knees and sucks Billy off.
- 47:46I am so tired of hearing about this girl.
- 47:49She can look the part, do whatever she wants.
- 47:52Shakes her boobies, shakes her ass.
- 47:54I could give a rat's ass. Stay away from the game of
- 47:58football. Stay away from sports.
- 48:00You don't know what you're doing and you're ruining your man's
- 48:04name, which has been built as a sacred point on a sacred part of
- 48:09professional football. Yeah, it doesn't really make
- 48:15sense to me in any any way, shape or form.
- 48:17Like, OK, So what technically is her title?
- 48:22Bill Belichick's chick side piece arm candy.
- 48:26Like, I don't, I mean, I don't know.
- 48:28I don't know her. So I will not refer to her as
- 48:30that because I don't know her. I don't.
- 48:32You don't have to. All right, I'll.
- 48:33Tell you she's but she's the second runner up for Miss Maine.
- 48:36That is the only title I know for her.
- 48:38Right. And so, but you, you as Bill
- 48:41Belichick in in what you've created for yourself, why, why
- 48:47are you even allowing her to be involved in any way, shape or
- 48:50form with any of this? Like just shut your mouth like
- 48:52this has nothing to do with you. Why are you trying to make in
- 48:57input on other sports that have nothing to do with what your man
- 49:00is even coaching? Like it's wrestling and
- 49:02basketball and it's like, and and why is North Carolina?
- 49:06Why are they allowing it like this?
- 49:10It smells like shit, but we're not there yet.
- 49:13Yeah, Jabba, I was even going to say I'm pretty sure that UNC had
- 49:16the deal this year to do in season Hard Knocks.
- 49:20That's what she. Said no.
- 49:22Yeah, there was just she pretty much got them like they were
- 49:25like during the interview, I'm pretty sure UNC, which is like
- 49:27we're not dealing with this like we're just going to.
- 49:28Cancel Doesn't he look like Dracula?
- 49:32You know, and I was talking about Adam Silver when I said he
- 49:35looked like Dracula. That's hard sex on clip that
- 49:38one. I think we're talking to speedy,
- 49:40but Jake, I I think we actually covered that exact event, you
- 49:44know, a couple of months before you spoke about she's been in
- 49:46the news a lot. That's put it, let's put it that
- 49:49way. Oh, we've got another guy who
- 49:50likes to be in the news that's Kendrick Perkins.
- 49:53Errol get this. He says Karl Anthony Towns needs
- 49:57to lose 15 lbs Yes, Kendrick Perkins.
- 50:01He can't even butt his jacket when he's sitting at the dais.
- 50:05So Kendrick Perk is not exactly the picture of fitness these
- 50:08days. Has some interesting advice for
- 50:10Knicks power forward slash center Karl Anthony Towns.
- 50:14Oops, one second right here. Here it is on the Perk Unplugged
- 50:18podcast, Perk, Perkins said. Carl Anthony Towns, if I was
- 50:23you, I'd go lose me about 15 lbs.
- 50:26You get 15 lbs off you bro, and you stay consistent.
- 50:29It's going to be smoke, boy. You going to be ready?
- 50:32I'm telling you all man, I'm looking forward, OK?
- 50:37Perk thinks that getting in better shape would improve Cat
- 50:40and Jalen Brunson, who are below average defenders with their
- 50:43lateral quickness. Perk, who is 610, played at 270
- 50:48lbs, was as big as 382 lbs before a recent weight loss.
- 50:53He was showing off in this picture.
- 50:57Errol. First of all, I don't want to
- 51:00hear about a Boston Celtics speaking about a New York Knick
- 51:03or a player Kendrick Perkins is the biggest dope in professional
- 51:07sports because after he retired the only person that would hire
- 51:11this idiot to go on a national stage is Stephen A Smith.
- 51:16What a dumbass. And this guy comes out and
- 51:18throws Karl Anthony Towns under the bus Karl Anthony Towns is a
- 51:22first team all NBA player, second team all NBA player.
- 51:25Has he this guy ever been a first or second team all NBA
- 51:28player? He's the first team, second team
- 51:31all NBA douche. That's what Kendrick Perkins is.
- 51:35He shouldn't be speaking. I don't want to hear what he has
- 51:37to say. As far as I'm concerned, the
- 51:39fact that he rooted for the Knicks this year only tells me
- 51:42that he jinxed the New York Knicks.
- 51:44So Kendrick, go push away. Go on Barclays side.
- 51:48Because every time Barclays speaks, everything on the
- 51:51opposite side happens. I don't want to hear from
- 51:53Kendrick Perkins ever again. And as far as his fatness and
- 51:57his fat ass, Mike Joppa says learn how to shut in a button up
- 52:00your your damn mouth and button up your damn coat because you
- 52:03look like an idiot too, fat ass. The problem is, he's right.
- 52:08Like he's right if Cat loses some weight and gets lower and
- 52:12he works out and. It's not going to make a
- 52:13difference. It's better on defense.
- 52:15It'll that of course it does if you will lose weight and you get
- 52:18a little bit. Cat doesn't play.
- 52:20Defense, he doesn't care. He doesn't care.
- 52:23Well, you say that, but if you were in shape, you wouldn't be
- 52:26making all these bad fouls because you have better control
- 52:28of your body. You know this.
- 52:30If you're lighter, you have better control over your body
- 52:32and how you do things. Let's just look at like Joel
- 52:34Embiid, when he's got like a bad knee, like he's just flopping
- 52:37all over the place, swinging his arms and then goes, what?
- 52:40What did I do? Well, because he's not healthy
- 52:42and he's not able to control himself on defense.
- 52:45A guy like Cat, who's not as big as Joel Embiid needs to have
- 52:49really good balance, and he doesn't have good balance.
- 52:52That's why you see all the dumb fouls him getting, you know,
- 52:55beat and then getting frustrated like a 7 year old and like
- 52:58fouling the kid. Perk is right, even though he's
- 53:02not the one to talk, really. Fish, Let me ask you a question.
- 53:05Carl Anthony Towns, he played for Kentucky, right?
- 53:08Yes. He was in pretty good shape when
- 53:09he played college ball, right? I mean, yeah, he was pretty good
- 53:12college. Did he ever play a liquor
- 53:14defense on that Kentucky team? Did he yes or no, yes or no?
- 53:21Did he ever play a lick of defense?
- 53:23Yes or no? Not really no.
- 53:25OK, so you're going to come out and say and you're going to
- 53:28agree with Perkins and saying if he lost 1516?
- 53:32Pounds. He'd be better.
- 53:33He's not playing defense. He's not just about to be
- 53:36player. He's not going to do that.
- 53:38He's A1 dimensional type of player.
- 53:41Stop it, Perkins. Should be speaking.
- 53:44Button your lips, man. I don't want to hear what you
- 53:46have to say, you dumb ass. Let me come on your podcast and
- 53:49let me piss all over it, OK, That's.
- 53:52Right, that would be the Perk Unplugged podcast.
- 53:55All right, here we go. Next story.
- 53:57This ones really crazy. So this is former Dolphins
- 54:00defensive back Rashad Jones who was robbed of two and a half
- 54:04$1,000,000 in a white collar crime and it was and he was
- 54:08schemed out of over 2 and a half million in Grand Theft and money
- 54:12laundering scheme. Now usually when you hear these
- 54:14things it's some kind of shady advisor.
- 54:16Well, Jones's financial advisor Isaiah Williams worked for
- 54:20Merrill Lynch and you abused his access to Jones's personal bank
- 54:24accounts along with the help of 49 year old Octavia Graham was
- 54:28pictured in this slide here stole money to fund his
- 54:32extravagant lifestyle and pay off his credit cards that he was
- 54:35using to live like, I guess live like a king.
- 54:38Overall here, get this, over 133 illegal wire transfers, 88
- 54:43illegal Zell transfers and 16 bad handwritten checks were
- 54:47written to defraud Jones of all the money.
- 54:50Again, he worked at Merrill Lynch and Jones's attorneys are
- 54:53working with Merrill Lynch to try to get, you know, this
- 54:57figured out. They are one of the most
- 55:00renowned investment firms. It's hard for athletes to figure
- 55:04out what to do with all this money.
- 55:06And if the one place that's like you're supposed to trust is
- 55:08doing this, that's pretty tough. I don't know what you think
- 55:12about it. Errol, it's time for you to.
- 55:14Dial it up. Are any of these people hanging
- 55:17out with Ohtani's friends? I mean, this story is this
- 55:22absolutely a joke? And honestly, I don't, I I don't
- 55:27know Jones. I don't know him personally, but
- 55:29I do know anybody that loses this kind of money through wire
- 55:32transfers and not understand in a timely fashion that money was
- 55:37being diluted and not being brought back in any kind of way
- 55:41through his accounts just tells you how stupid he really is.
- 55:45These football players, they believe and not even football
- 55:48athletes believe in their accountants, these different,
- 55:51you know, companies, financial organizations that they're
- 55:54working with that they're going to help them and do right by
- 55:56them. And how many times have you
- 55:58heard over the years that these these financial companies, AKA
- 56:02Antoine Walker, just absolutely throw his money away and believe
- 56:06in where his money is going to go and where the money is going
- 56:08to be divided out and he's becomes absolutely broke.
- 56:12You hear the stories all the time and this idiot is going to
- 56:15give 2 and $1,000,000 to a company yeah has the name
- 56:18Merrill Lynch and not know where his money is.
- 56:20Going through the wire transfers only tells you one thing.
- 56:23The guy needs the right people around him.
- 56:27What a dumbass. Well, it just like for me, I,
- 56:32you know, now it's like everybody with their debit cards
- 56:34or credit cards, like you get an alert on your phone.
- 56:38Like if there's, you know, if there's a transaction or
- 56:40something, I get an e-mail or an alert depending on how you set
- 56:43it up. So I don't know if it was just
- 56:45the trust factor or you just not paying attention.
- 56:50I mean, yeah, they can kind of get away with it.
- 56:52You know, they, they, you always hear these scams of getting, you
- 56:55know, people. It's like, hey, I'm going to try
- 56:56and take, you know, $8 and $12.00 because you don't notice
- 56:59it. And then it's like, OK, I got
- 57:01him. And then it's a big one.
- 57:02You're like, oh, and it's just a pain in the butt because it's at
- 57:05some point every single one of us, our card number has gotten
- 57:08stolen and there's been fraudulent charges.
- 57:12That's just the way it goes. But for that to happen like it
- 57:15was, either he didn't have the right people around them, nobody
- 57:19was really watching his money, or it was just one of those
- 57:22where he was a dumbass, didn't care.
- 57:24Dumbass. And just yeah, so yeah, it
- 57:27sucks. And obviously it wasn't like
- 57:29this was just like a one time thing.
- 57:31It obviously kept happening. How do you not know?
- 57:34Unbelievable. It's the old Mizuhara EP.
- 57:39Mizuhara defense. I had no idea.
- 57:40I didn't know it was that guy. He did all of it.
- 57:44It was that dude, you're like, who the hell is that?
- 57:47It was him, this little guy who was just in my stooges my entire
- 57:50life. That guy.
- 57:51Yeah, I didn't know anything about it.
- 57:52Let you go, my butt. The last one have you?
- 57:57Did you see this one? Errol Alvin Kamara throughout
- 58:00the first pitch for the Cubs. This was funny though.
- 58:04Let's just say it didn't go exactly as planned.
- 58:07Spikes it as you see right there about 4550 feet from the mound.
- 58:12But he says no, no, let me go again, give it back.
- 58:16He's waving to everybody. He's got the face on.
- 58:19He still throws a ball, but he gets it over the plate.
- 58:23Made me think about all of the great, horrible first pitches
- 58:29we've seen. And we saw Haktua throw out a
- 58:31first pitch for the Mets last year.
- 58:33Just a cap on the great season the Mets had about. $0.50 That
- 58:35was funny. Yeah, that was the one I would
- 58:38remember. But Errol, why don't you tell us
- 58:39a little bit about that when you dial it up?
- 58:41Well, I, I mean, obviously I would be embarrassed.
- 58:44I'm a professional athlete. I'm one of the best running
- 58:46backs in the NFL, been one of the best running backs in
- 58:49athletic running backs in all the football for how many years
- 58:52and I can't throw a ball over the plate.
- 58:54That is despicable, honestly. And then he wants to throw the
- 58:57ball again and then he throws another dud.
- 59:00Thank God he didn't hit the dirt in the floor on the on the
- 59:02ground on the cleats. I I will say this now, the
- 59:05Camaro should stay away from baseball.
- 59:07Just play football, worry about the bad, as we say bad.
- 59:13It's not grass, we'll call it just terrible turf.
- 59:18OK, it's it's to me Alvin Kamara should just concentrate on
- 59:23football. And I again, we've seen this
- 59:25many, many times. We've seen many different
- 59:27athletes try to throw the ball or even musicians or even
- 59:31actors, actresses, every single even ex baseball players that
- 59:35can't throw it over the plate. So I'm not going to blame Alvin
- 59:38Kamara throwing the ball the way he did.
- 59:41I'm just going to say that he was a sore loser and he had to
- 59:45throw it again. So I, I'm, I'm never doing that.
- 59:48If I ever get a chance to go out there and they want me to throw
- 59:52a ball, you know what I would do?
- 59:53I would plead the 5th and say, okay, Jabba, you throw it for
- 59:56me. I'm not embarrassing myself.
- 59:59Did you see the one though? And I'll let the boys go after
- 1:00:01this one. And I don't know if you guys can
- 1:00:03pull it up, but it was, I think like. 2016, Seventeen.
- 1:00:08It was the Red Sox to do through a first pitch and hit the guy in
- 1:00:11the Dick, the photographer. That's funny because he, I mean
- 1:00:16he couldn't see it, smoked it. I mean, there there's been a
- 1:00:21whole bunch of famous ones that have been really bad.
- 1:00:24Carl Lewis, The Olympian got it about like not even 10 feet in
- 1:00:29front of him. That's one of the worst ones
- 1:00:31ever. Baba Bowie from Howard Stern
- 1:00:34show at one of the worst ones ever that they always made fun
- 1:00:37of him for. You're mad, Stephen A Smith.
- 1:00:39Your Mets are falling in on this for this.
- 1:00:42Show for this show, if they ever asked us to throw at for Yankees
- 1:00:47or the Mets, I'd be like, you know, I plead it.
- 1:00:50I'll let Jabba throw it. I'm not embarrassing myself in
- 1:00:53front of all those fans. Not Jabba.
- 1:00:54We're just not. We're just recruiting all the
- 1:00:56ones that we know are going. To I know I could throw it, but
- 1:00:58for some reason, I, I mean, New York is New York.
- 1:01:01I don't want to put myself in a bad situation.
- 1:01:03To be honest with you, I feel like again, I've played baseball
- 1:01:06all my life. I haven't played soul for now.
- 1:01:07So I feel like it's pretty. Maybe it's some nerves, but like
- 1:01:11you can't just like, even if we just like lobby over over to the
- 1:01:15plate, like you can't even get over the plate out of something.
- 1:01:17You you would piss your pants if you're standing in front of.
- 1:01:2050,000 people That is true. No, that is true.
- 1:01:24I. Pissed what?
- 1:01:25You know what the You know what the best one is?
- 1:01:28It was former President George W Bush who got up on the mounds
- 1:01:32right after 911 and fired a strike right down the middle.
- 1:01:35That was the best one ever. Yeah.
- 1:01:38It's $0.50, probably the worst one ever though.
- 1:01:41Fish. Now the real question if Nathan
- 1:01:42were ever a throw a first pitch. What?
- 1:01:44Would oh, I would love to see you versus Nathan who throws a
- 1:01:48strike first. Hold on, hold on.
- 1:01:50Nathan actually posted himself throwing a football and the
- 1:01:54first thing Jabba says is you need to work on the lower
- 1:01:57undercarriage. You got to work on your legs.
- 1:02:01To be fair, it wasn't the best form I've ever seen.
- 1:02:04I I coached kids though, Cody. Gave him compliments.
- 1:02:08He's he's a nice man in it, goody, that's why.
- 1:02:12Chava was like, you got to fix. You got to fix those sticks.
- 1:02:17Well guys, that's been another great addition of.
- 1:02:19Dial it all right. It's been a crazy one.
- 1:02:25By the way. Hopefully Tommy's feeling a
- 1:02:27little bit better driving home. Hopefully he gets home safe
- 1:02:30because he was on the toilet for about an hour and 50 minutes.
- 1:02:34I mean, that guy, I feel so bad, man Dude, he was sweating,
- 1:02:38soaked. I don't know what the hell he
- 1:02:40ate, but he ate something. Something burned that asshole of
- 1:02:43his. Anyway, thank you to all the
- 1:02:44fans on social media, TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook,

- 1:03:03be Phoenix Suns play by broadcaster and Dallas Cowboys
- 1:03:06play by play broadcaster Kevin or Ray?
- 1:03:08Oh, Kevin will join us. And by the way, Kevin, I'm sure
- 1:03:11he has his own thoughts about George Pickens, as we heard CD
- 1:03:14Lamb and George Pickens on a broadcast recently and CD came
- 1:03:18out and I wouldn't have ever thought this to to be true.
- 1:03:21CD Lamb said there's no one or two, it's all once.
- 1:03:25And he says now you got to contend with two number ones on
- 1:03:28one roster. Well, we'll see how that works
- 1:03:31for the whole season with George Pickens doesn't see enough
- 1:03:33balls, especially up his ass. And if he does, maybe somebody's
- 1:03:36going to bend over and give him a nice little poo Tang pie as
- 1:03:39Speedy would. Say fish.
- 1:03:40Maybe that's why Kevante Turpin had to do what he did, because
- 1:03:43he knew he wasn't a #1. Oh, absolutely.
- 1:03:45By the way, Speedy, I haven't used this drop in a long time.
- 1:03:48Though Syrup who Tang pie with the rock?
- 1:03:50Anyways, that's it for our show ladies and gentlemen.
- 1:03:53We'll be back with Nick Goody on Thursday.
- 1:03:55Hopefully Tommy feels better. He's pooping, he's scooping and
