- 0:02Acts chapter 24, let us pray. Our Lord God who reigns on high,
- 0:11we thank you, Lord Jesus, for another day.
- 0:15We thank you, Father, that you woke us up.
- 0:17You put us on our feet. You put us on mission.
- 0:20Today God, I pray in the name of Jesus for your name to be
- 0:23exalted higher than all of the kingdoms of this world.
- 0:28God, I pray in the name of Jesus for Yahweh everlasting to have
- 0:32the last word. Lord, we serve the God of
- 0:35Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God, we just want you.
- 0:40We want to be found doing whatever it is that you want us
- 0:43to do. Today, God, I pray that you will
- 0:46fill us with the Holy Ghost. Today I pray that we can keep
- 0:50your name. Holy God, we pray for your
- 0:52Kingdom and your will, Lord, right here on this earth, just
- 0:55as it is there in heaven. God Almighty, let us get out of
- 0:59our own way. Father, we serve you
- 1:01wholeheartedly. We're sold out to the King of
- 1:05Kings and the Lord of Lords. King, Jesus, Lord, we are
- 1:10desirous to come and learn from you, to be fed from you.
- 1:16God, we are desirous to be filled with the Holy Ghost to
- 1:20day, not just halfway, not just some are in part, but God, a
- 1:27fullness, A completeness, a overflowing God into our
- 1:33communities, into our neighborhoods, into the highways
- 1:36and hedges and byways. God, I pray that you'll call
- 1:39many to repentance, that you'll call many into forgiveness of
- 1:44their sins. God, I pray that you'll call
- 1:46many into the Kingdom. Lord and where we are.
- 1:50Father, I pray that they can be. Lord, we pray right now in the
- 1:55name of Jesus Christ for Jerusalem, for the peace of
- 1:59Jerusalem. God, we pray in the name of
- 2:01Jesus Christ for the ethnic Jews.
- 2:04God, we pray that you, Lord, will have your will and have
- 2:08your way and that we are watching your clock.
- 2:13We're watching, Lord, and we are in tune with what you're doing
- 2:17because we are fixated upon Israel.
- 2:21And so, Lord, bring about our salvation, bring about our
- 2:25rewards, bring about King Jesus, second Advent.
- 2:29Lord, we want you more than we want sin and self, more than we
- 2:37want protection. Lord, more than we want liberty,
- 2:42more than we want a nice cushy life.
- 2:48God, we pray right now for King Jesus to come back.
- 2:53We pray, God, Maranatha, that He has come and He is coming and He
- 2:58will come, Lord, and we bank on those promises.
- 3:03We live our lives sold out. Lord, we throw all of our own
- 3:09common sense aside, God, all the things that the world tries to
- 3:13sell us. Lord, I pray in the name of
- 3:16Jesus that we will see our redemption drawing near.
- 3:21I pray in the name of Jesus that we will see that you are high
- 3:25and lifted up over this entire universe.
- 3:30You are the only uncreated God the Father, God the Son, God the
- 3:34Holy Ghost. And Lord, we just approach you
- 3:39with fear and trembling. God, we're working our salvation
- 3:43out. Lord, we approach you, God, as
- 3:47the bride. Lord, we are waiting patiently,
- 3:53Lord, for you to make every wrong thing right and for you to
- 3:56come, Lord and gather us. Lord, and where you are we want
- 4:00to be. Lord, we just want to see your
- 4:02face. We want to see your glory.
- 4:04God, heal us today. Heal our bodies for your
- 4:10service. Lord, heal our minds for your
- 4:14service. Let us be found doing your will
- 4:18today. Lord, we get out of our own way.
- 4:20We acknowledge you. We're praying that you'll direct
- 4:23our steps today. Help us not to live in the past
- 4:26or in the future, but help us to lock in for today.
- 4:29Father, teach us your eternal words.
- 4:32Teach us your eternal paths. Teach us your eternal ways,
- 4:36Father. And as we open up your Word, let
- 4:39your Word read us. Hide it in our hearts so that we
- 4:43might not sin against you, Father God.
- 4:46You are our everything. You are All in all.
- 4:49You are the all sufficient sacrifice.
- 4:51You are the atonement for all of our sins.
- 4:54You, Lord, are all that we desire.
- 4:58Wash us in the blood today. Let us gird up our loins so we
- 5:03can stand in your presence. Father.
- 5:05We enter into the throne room boldly, God.
- 5:08We enter into the holiest of holy places.
- 5:12God, rain down the Shekinah. Glory upon us today.
- 5:16Father, let us exude your light into everywhere that we go
- 5:19today. Lord, I pray that we can mirror
- 5:22and model the life of Jesus Christ for this wicked and dark
- 5:27and perverse generation. God, I pray that it'll be you.
- 5:32That is the first thing on our minds, and it'll be you that's
- 5:35the last thing on our minds. Lord, You are the Alpha and the
- 5:39Omega, and God, we just say yes and Amen to all the promises
- 5:45contained in the 66 books Canon, Father, from Genesis to
- 5:50Revelation, the infallible, inerrant word.
- 5:53God, we say yes and Amen to every single syllable, every
- 5:57jot, and every title. Father, you are the way, the
- 6:01truth, and the life, and we desire to come unto you.
- 6:04Father. Thank you Lord Jesus for
- 6:08Calvary. Thank you, Lord Jesus that your
- 6:11beard was plucked out. Thank you Lord Jesus you spat
- 6:15upon and the crown of thorns pushed upon your forehead.
- 6:19Thank you, Lord Jesus for spilling out the water from your
- 6:22side. Thank you Lord Jesus for the
- 6:24nail pierced hands and feet. Thank you, Lord Jesus, that you
- 6:31were resurrected so that we have the hope of the resurrection and
- 6:35the same power that raised you from the dead.
- 6:38God lives inside of us. So, Lord, we yearn for you.
- 6:43We lean into you, we lay our head on your chest.
- 6:46Father, teach us, talk to us, whisper to us in that still
- 6:50small voice. We love you, King Jesus, and
- 6:54it's in your holy, holy, holy, worthy, worthy, worthy, glory,
- 7:05glory, glorious name that we pray.
- 7:11Amen. Let's start in verse one.
- 7:16And after five days, Ananias, the high priest descended with
- 7:22the elders and with a certain orator named Tertullus who
- 7:28informed the governor against Paul.
- 7:32That's exactly what they did. They descended.
- 7:36They regressed. They are supposed to be the ones
- 7:39who are housing the Holy Word of God.
- 7:43They were the stewards of the spoken Word of God.
- 7:47They've been taught time and time and time and time and time
- 7:51again about following after Yahweh, and here they are,
- 7:57erring grievously. Here they are descending down
- 8:02into the depths of hell, friends, and they've bought,
- 8:05they've brought their little friend, the lawyer Tertullus,
- 8:09because he is to give some kind of farce statement, some hoopla
- 8:16garbage about Paul and all of the accusations that were false.
- 8:25And here he is, just like a lawyer, just like them, to twist
- 8:31the truth for their own benefit. Let's see how they fare in this
- 8:37courtroom of God with God as the witness.
- 8:40Let's see how they fare too. And when he was called forth,
- 8:45Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that by thee we
- 8:50enjoy great quietness, and that very worthy deeds are done unto
- 8:55this nation by your Providence, so here's a bunch of flattery.
- 9:01And this flattery is nothing but wickedness.
- 9:05Be wise, be careful. Beware of flattery friends.
- 9:12Anytime somebody is flattering you, it is to your destruction
- 9:18and demise. They are the ones that kiss you
- 9:21on the cheek as they sell you out.
- 9:23Friends, be careful, beware and be wise.
- 9:27Anytime someone tries to approach you with flattery, they
- 9:32will kiss you on the cheek and stab you in the back. 3 We
- 9:37accepted always and in all places, most noble Felix, with
- 9:42all thankfulness for notwithstanding that I be not
- 9:47further tedious unto you, I pray you that you would hear us of
- 9:52the clemency a few words. 54 We have found this man a pestilent
- 10:00fellow and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout
- 10:06the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.
- 10:10So here is one of the most complimentary compliments that
- 10:17Tortulis gave Paul. He called him a leader of the
- 10:21sect of the Nazarenes, and we know that he's talking about the
- 10:25way. We know that he's talking about
- 10:27Jesus of Nazareth, the branch, and we know that this little
- 10:32town was despised and it was looked down the nose upon.
- 10:37And here they were trying to relegate him to some commoner,
- 10:41not knowing that Paul was in connection with the King of the
- 10:45universe, the one who spoke everything into existence.
- 10:50And here they want to worship creation rather than the
- 10:53Creator. And it's no different than in
- 10:56our day and our our friends. It's no different then when
- 11:00people choose money over God, choose greed over God, choose
- 11:06their own lifestyle over God, choose they choose morality over
- 11:11God. They approach God from a
- 11:13moralistic approach and they think that God should behave in
- 11:18the way that the humans understand.
- 11:21And it doesn't work that way. God is in heaven and does
- 11:24whatever he pleases. Don't forget it.
- 11:27And the best thing we can do is learn the spoken words.
- 11:30Heaven and earth shall pass away, but not one of these
- 11:33words. Friends, learn these spoken
- 11:36words and you'll learn the heart of God and it'll spell Jesus.
- 11:44Period. All of Genesis, all the way to
- 11:48Malachi and all the way from Matthew to Revelation spelled
- 11:54Jesus, period. And that is what you need to
- 12:00know. That is the heart of God
- 12:03friends, is to exalt King Jesus to His rightful place and for us
- 12:09as the Bride to come in to the groom to come into the bride
- 12:14chamber. We have this love sick longing
- 12:18to be restored unto our groom. We just want more of him.
- 12:24I am my beloved and He is mine. Yes, that is what the bride
- 12:29says. 6 who also has gone about to profane the temple, whom we
- 12:39took and would have judged according to our law.
- 12:42So they just wanted to ambush and murder him.
- 12:46And by God's Providence he pulled him away from there
- 12:49because he had many books to write that you and I would be
- 12:52edified and built up through. And we're going to read those
- 12:55books together, friends, and you're going to see how Paul
- 13:00used this imprisonment to write 1/3 of our New Testament.
- 13:06Praise God, Hallelujah. Inspired by the Holy Spirit,
- 13:11These are God's words on a page that Paul is about to start
- 13:17writing while he's in custody. Seven.
- 13:21But the chief Captain Lysius came upon us and with great
- 13:26violence took him away out of our hands.
- 13:28Lies, lies and more lies. They were not trying to give
- 13:32Paul a fair trial. They just wanted to murder him.
- 13:35Just like they murdered his Messiah.
- 13:38They murdered our Messiah. And the Jews of this day are
- 13:44coming into the saving knowledge that Jesus Christ is the
- 13:48long-awaited Messiah. But there are many who are in
- 13:52denial, and they will not realize that Jesus is the
- 13:57Messiah until they have to go through the seven-year
- 14:00tribulation whenever they see the Antichrist and the rebuilt
- 14:04temple demanding to be worshipped as God.
- 14:09And is it is the abomination of desolation that is spoken of by
- 14:13the prophet Daniel. And you're going to see it
- 14:15whenever we get into Revelation, friends.
- 14:18You're going to see it as we get into Thessalonians and as we get
- 14:21into the Epistle of Peter. You're going to see it, friends,
- 14:25as we've seen it in the past. You're going to see that these
- 14:28things must happen, but woe to the one whom they come through.
- 14:418 commanding his accusers to come to you by examining of whom
- 14:46yourself may us take knowledge of these things, whereof we
- 14:50accuse him. Nine.
- 14:51And the Jews also assented, saying that these things were
- 14:55so. This is a mock trial.
- 14:59This is just a hearing. This is a bunch of garbage.
- 15:04This is an upended uproar of nothing but nonsense.
- 15:13Friends, Paul has done nothing wrong.
- 15:16He is not worthy of imprisonment, much less
- 15:20execution. And here, because of envy, they
- 15:23want to murder him. And look at how his life is
- 15:27mirroring and modeling our Lord Jesus Christ.
- 15:31And do not be surprised whenever you follow hard after God
- 15:35Almighty, whenever you're completely sold out to the King
- 15:39of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Do not be surprised if you get
- 15:42marginalized, if you get overlooked, if you get passed
- 15:47over. And praise God, Hallelujah for
- 15:50the Passover, whenever this world is going by the wayside.
- 15:54And you and I, we can lock eyes with Jesus, who is the author
- 15:58and the perfecter of our faith, and he's going to take us by the
- 16:01hand and he's going to lead us home.
- 16:04Brothers, sisters. 10 Then Paul after that the governor had
- 16:14beckoned unto him to speak, answered For as much as I know
- 16:20that you have been of many years a judge unto this nation, I do
- 16:26the more cheerfully answer for myself.
- 16:29Paul didn't hire a lawyer. Paul was his own advocate.
- 16:34And do you not know that you will judge the angels?
- 16:38And do you not know that you will judge the world?
- 16:42And how much more are we able to judge amongst brothers and
- 16:47sisters in their disputes? Do not take it to the Pagan
- 16:50courtroom, friend. We should keep ourselves
- 16:55spotless and blameless from this wicked and dark and perverse
- 16:59generation. 11 Because that you may understand that there are
- 17:07yet but 12 days since I went up to Jerusalem to worship. 12 And
- 17:12they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man,
- 17:17neither raising up the people, neither in the synagogues nor in
- 17:21the city. Paul saying, check my track
- 17:23record. Where's the witnesses?
- 17:26This is their word against mine. There is no substantiality to
- 17:32any of their accusations. It's all a farce. 13 Neither can
- 17:41they prove the things whereof they now accuse me. 14 But this
- 17:49I confess to you, that after the way which they call heresy, so
- 17:58worship I, the God of my Father's, believing all things
- 18:02which are written in the law and in the prophets.
- 18:07Jesus did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it to
- 18:11the last iota, the last letter, friends.
- 18:16And that is what Paul is saying, that he has not given up on the
- 18:20law. He is desirous of a better word,
- 18:25a more fulfilled word of Jesus Christ fulfilling it.
- 18:30And as we lock eyes with Jesus Christ and as we love God with
- 18:34all of our hearts and all of our minds, all of our strength, and
- 18:37we love our neighbors as ourselves.
- 18:39All of the laws satisfied friends 15 and have hope toward
- 18:50God, which they themselves also allow that there shall be a
- 18:55resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.
- 19:00While Paul just hits him with a 123 Mike Tyson punch out right
- 19:05there, friends. He lets them know that they're
- 19:09going to have to give an account for all of these wicked ways
- 19:13they will be before the great white throne.
- 19:17And they're going to try to say, Lord, Lord, we prophesied in
- 19:21your name. We cast out demons in your name.
- 19:24We perform miracles in your name.
- 19:26And he's going to say, depart from me, for I never knew you.
- 19:30It is not enough to know God. We must be known by Jesus.
- 19:36Friends 16 And herein do I exercise myself to have always a
- 19:46conscience void of offense towards God and toward men.
- 19:52That is the calling that is placed on our lives.
- 19:55Friends. We should live an unoffendable
- 19:57life and we should not offend God by using our liberty to sin
- 20:04all the more. Far be it from US17 Now after
- 20:08many years, I came to bring alms to my nation and offerings. 18
- 20:15Where upon certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the
- 20:22temple, neither with multitude nor with tumult.
- 20:27He sang that he came to fulfill his vow, and he did not bring
- 20:32any Gentiles into the inner court. 19 Who ought to have been
- 20:38here before you, and object, if they had ought against me.
- 20:42He's saying, Where are your witnesses?
- 20:46You have none, because this is all a lie, and is that of envy,
- 20:53that you want to murder me. 20 Or else let the same here say if
- 21:01they have found any evil doing in me while I stood before the
- 21:06Council. 21 except it be for this one voice that I cried
- 21:12standing among them, touching the resurrection of the dead.
- 21:18I am called and questioned by you this day.
- 21:20So here he has made 2 little snippets, 2 little instances
- 21:26towards the resurrection and he is speaking boldly for the Lord
- 21:33Jesus Christ who was resurrected from the dead.
- 21:36He was the 1st. And we have the down payment of
- 21:39the Holy Spirit which gives us the ability, friends, to rise.
- 21:45We will rise friends. We will be resurrected from the
- 21:50dead, and the same power that rose Jesus from the dead will
- 21:56raise us up, Friends. 22 And when Felix heard these things,
- 22:09having more perfect knowledge of that way, he deferred them and
- 22:17said, When Lycius the chief captain, shall come down, I will
- 22:21know the uttermost of your matter.
- 22:24So here Felix deflects. He doesn't want to have to deal
- 22:30with all of the false accusations and lies of the
- 22:37Jewish leaders. He doesn't want to have to deal
- 22:39with it. He's much like Pilot in the
- 22:42sense that he finds no fault in him, but he's afraid of the
- 22:47people. And this fear of man has to go.
- 22:52We must fear God, and everything else will bow, even if it costs
- 22:57us our livelihood, even if it costs us our reputation, even if
- 23:02it costs us our very lives. We cannot let the fear of man be
- 23:06the driver. We must fear God and work out
- 23:11our salvation with fear and trembling. 23 And he commanded A
- 23:23centurion to keep Paul and to let him have liberty, and that
- 23:28he should forbid none of his acquaintance to minister or come
- 23:32unto him. So here he knows that Paul has
- 23:35done nothing wrong, but because he wants to appease the Jews, he
- 23:40wants to appease all of the High Council.
- 23:44He tries to have it both ways. He keeps them bound, but he
- 23:49allows anyone and everyone to come and see him and to minister
- 23:54to him, and he gives them much of liberty even though he's
- 23:57under guard. And this is where you're going
- 24:00to see Paul starting to write all of his epistles.
- 24:04Praise God. Hallelujah for this eternal plan
- 24:07of God Almighty, using this very learned man to edify the church
- 24:15for thousands of years now. 24 And after certain days, when
- 24:24Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he
- 24:32sent for Paul and heard him concerning the faith in Christ.
- 24:38So here we see that Felix was very interested in what Paul had
- 24:45to say, and he brought Drusilla, who would have been
- 24:49knowledgeable of the laws and the decrees and the prophecies
- 24:54of the Jews. Being a Jewess, he brought her
- 24:59along with him to hear from Paul.
- 25:02And Paul was speaking the eternal words of life.
- 25:07Friends, Jesus Christ, the resurrection. 25 Any reasoned of
- 25:15righteousness, temperance, judgment to come.
- 25:20Felix trembled and answered. Go your way for this time.
- 25:26When I have a convenient season, I will call for you.
- 25:30So here Paul gets right to the point.
- 25:33Here Paul is preaching to him, self-control.
- 25:38He's preaching to him that there is a judgment that is coming
- 25:44that they're going to have to go through.
- 25:46He's preaching to him right living.
- 25:49And here Felix was shaking in his boots.
- 25:53He was fearful because he was not living the right way, and he
- 26:01was not concerned about the life to come.
- 26:05And what does it profit a man to gain the whole world but to lose
- 26:09his soul Friends. And he just pushes them aside
- 26:16and says, I'll call for you when it's convenient.
- 26:19What a grave mistake we make. Today is the day of salvation.
- 26:28Do not put it off for a more convenient time.
- 26:32You do not know if this is your last day on planet Earth.
- 26:37You do not know if this is your last week on planet Earth.
- 26:41You do not know if this is your last month on planet Earth.
- 26:45You do not know if this is your last year on planet earth.
- 26:49Friends, today is that day. Make a decision for Christ
- 26:54today. He is reaching out His mighty
- 26:57outstretched hand. Grab a hold of it today and let
- 27:02Him pull you up out of the muck in the mire of despair and
- 27:06lostness and longing for Him and Him alone.
- 27:14He is the only way. There is no peace outside of a
- 27:22relationship with God through his Son Jesus Christ. 26 He
- 27:29hoped also that money should have been given him of Paul,
- 27:34that he might loose him. Wherefore he sent for him the
- 27:38oftener, and communed with him. So here he was hoping for a
- 27:43bribe. Look at how these politicians
- 27:46are so steeped with bribery, they're so steeped with greed,
- 27:54and they want to be bought off. It is no different in our day
- 27:58and our our friends is happening all around us.
- 28:01People want to be in these high positions, but they do not
- 28:05realize that they are under the thumb of God Almighty, and
- 28:08everything is getting moved along exactly according to plan,
- 28:12and woe to the one whom they come through, even though they
- 28:15must come. 27 We'll end here. But after two years, Portius
- 28:25Festus came into Felix's room, and Felix, willing to show the
- 28:32Jews of pleasure, left Paul bound.
- 28:35How despicable Felix will go down in the history of mankind
- 28:40as trying to appease man rather than following after God
- 28:45Almighty. He had been given the gospel of
- 28:48the Lord Jesus Christ and he was waiting for a more convenient
- 28:52time to do the right thing and it is despicable in the sight of
- 28:57God. Friends, we need to do the right
- 29:07thing, practice integrity even when it's not convenient.
- 29:14We need to be found teaching the Word of God in season and out of
- 29:18season, always ready to give a reason for the hope that you
- 29:23possess. Friends, don't hide your light.
- 29:28Let it shine bright. Friends, I hope that you've been
- 29:34blessed by this amazing chapter in the Word of God.
- 29:43I know I sure have. Praying for you.
- 29:52I love you. So does God.
- 29:57Put your full armor on today. Stay prayed up, walk in the
- 30:03Spirit, do not satisfy the lust of the flesh, be content with
