- 1:47Speaker 1: be a good one. Navy and Air Force. The Commander's Trophy.
- 1:56Speaker 1: One of the games of the Commander's Trophy. Alabama, Mississippi State.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Ohio State. and the Fighting Curt Ferences in Iowa. Those

- 2:12Speaker 1: only get harder. Go online, make your picks at chiphower.com,
- 2:18Speaker 1: at the contest page, and then sit back and watch
- 2:24Speaker 1: the loot roll in. Friday's Fearless Football Forecast Contest is
- 2:28Speaker 1: America's most loved football pick-em contest since the late 50s.
- 2:33Speaker 1: It's presented by Chad Jones Law and Zwernemann Flooring. I
- 2:42Speaker 1: had a lousy week last week. And I changed picks,
- 2:49Speaker 1: and I shouldn't have done that. Our winner, James, yesterday
- 2:55Speaker 1: told me not to do that. Baseball playoffs are underway.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Astros trailing 3-0, top of the third inning, to the
- 3:07Speaker 1: White Sox. The first game today was a dandy in Atlanta,
- 3:14Speaker 1: and Austin Riley hit a 99-mile-an-hour fastball for a three-run
- 3:20Speaker 1: Jimmy Jack in the bottom of the eighth to give
- 3:23Speaker 1: the Braves a 5-3 win over the Phillies. Game one
- 3:30Speaker 1: winners in these best of three series win something like
- 3:33Speaker 1: 82 or 85% of the time. So it's really important
- 3:39Speaker 1: to win game one. Following Astros White Sox on NBC,
- 3:49Speaker 1: Red Sox, Yankees, then Cubs, Padres, and San Diego. So
- 3:59Speaker 1: there you go. The wild card games underway now. Quick inning.
- 4:08Speaker 1: 3-0 going to the bottom of the third. Let's see.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Game two for the Houstons is tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Okay.
- 4:23Speaker 4: Okay.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Game three, if necessary, will be at a time to
- 4:31Speaker 1: be determined. It will depend on the other games. Okay,
- 4:35Speaker 1: that's how that works. The games on Willie, if you
- 4:41Speaker 1: want to listen to the radio call. TV is Peacock
- 4:48Speaker 1: and NBC Sports Network. Aaron....
- 4:55Speaker 5: A.J.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Blueball, by the way, started for the Astros, didn't last.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Aaron Judge isn't on the wildcard roster. He has been
- 5:08Speaker 1: out since September 16th with a right calf strain, which
- 5:15Speaker 1: was his seventh game back after missing more than three
- 5:19Speaker 1: months with a fractured rib. But Giancarlo Stanton who hasn't
- 5:26Speaker 1: played in five months, is on the roster. Trent Grisham,
- 5:31Speaker 1: who finished the regular season on the IL, is on
- 5:35Speaker 1: the roster for the best of three series with the
- 5:40Speaker 1: Red Sox. Oh, are the Yankees Red Sox playing? I
- 5:44Speaker 1: haven't seen anything about that. Brutal. Hockey season starting. It's about...
- 5:55Speaker 1: dang time. The hockey season is starting. It has got
- 6:02Speaker 1: to be better than the baseball season. I'm counting on
- 6:05Speaker 1: some big things this year. Of course, I was counting
- 6:07Speaker 1: on big things last year. But at least we know
- 6:13Speaker 1: the Stars teams, unless something really strange happens, will be
- 6:17Speaker 1: in the playoffs. Unlike another team in Arlington that we know. Actually,
- 6:23Speaker 1: there's two teams in Arlington that Have no shot. Athletics
- 6:28Speaker 1: outfielder Zach Gila has filed a lawsuit against the Tigers.
- 6:36Speaker 1: And I love it. I mean, I don't love the lawsuit.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I love the language. The lawsuit seeks unspecified compensation for, quote,
- 6:47Speaker 1: severe pain and suffering, lost wages and economic loss. I
- 6:52Speaker 1: don't know how that's different. mental and emotional distress, significant
- 7:01Speaker 1: medical bills, attorney's fees, and other damages. Jaloff was hurt
- 7:07Speaker 1: in the third inning in Detroit, July 9th, making a
- 7:10Speaker 1: sliding catch when he hit the fence. I don't think,
- 7:21Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know. This was last I think
- 7:25Speaker 1: a year ago, I believe. I think that's, if I
- 7:29Speaker 1: read this correctly. I don't think he liked the way
- 7:35Speaker 1: the fence was not protected. I think that's the issue here, okay?
- 7:44Speaker 1: Talked about this in the first hour. Tyler White, the
- 7:47Speaker 1: Ray Guy Punter of the Week, averaged 51.9 yards per punt.
- 7:55Speaker 1: with a long of 58, three punts inside the 20.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Tyler White is averaging exactly 50 yards a punt this season.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Is it hyperbole to say he's been the best player
- 8:12Speaker 1: on the team so far this year? I mean, I
- 8:16Speaker 1: don't think so. I mean, 50 yards a punt, I
- 8:21Speaker 1: will say this, If everybody was doing the job that
- 8:25Speaker 1: Tyler White was doing, A & M wouldn't be 2-2
- 8:27Speaker 1: right now. I think I'm safe in saying that. Kickoff's
- 8:34Speaker 1: a little after 6 o'clock on Saturday. That's on ESPN
- 8:38Speaker 1: The Deuce on Saturday night. This is weird. I'm waiting
- 8:46Speaker 1: to see more on this story. Former Auburn football staff
- 8:52Speaker 1: member 24-year-old David Jenrath is in jail on $ 15, 000 bond
- 9:03Speaker 1: for felony secret trading and computer tampering. Having to do
- 9:11Speaker 1: with Jenrath allegedly sending team secrets to other football programs.
- 9:21Speaker 1: The police have not identified the schools that received the
- 9:25Speaker 1: stolen information. We know that one of them turned the
- 9:31Speaker 1: information over to authorities. This happened July 19th at the
- 9:39Speaker 1: Auburn Athletics Complex. Like I said, there's never a dull
- 9:46Speaker 1: moment in Auburn. You can count on that. And in basketball,
- 9:56Speaker 1: Florida guard Denzel Aberdeen has been granted a 10-point lead.
- 10:01Speaker 1: injunction against the NCAA that would allow him to play
- 10:05Speaker 1: for the Gators this year, which only adds to a
- 10:11Speaker 1: stacked roster by Todd Golden in Florida. Aberdeen transferred from Kentucky.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Earlier this spring, in hopes of being granted a fifth
- 10:21Speaker 1: year of eligibility, Florida is expected to be the preseason
- 10:26Speaker 1: number one team when those polls come out in a
- 10:29Speaker 1: few weeks. Like I said, they're already loaded. I'm telling you,
- 10:35Speaker 1: this SEC, remember two years ago how good SEC was
- 10:40Speaker 1: in basketball? I'm looking around. I'm thinking it has a
- 10:44Speaker 1: chance this year to be like that. I mean, these
- 10:49Speaker 1: teams aren't kidding around. You look at what Florida, Kentucky, Arkansas, Texas, Alabama,
- 11:02Speaker 1: A & M. I mean, it's going to be.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Don't pitch to him. I'm telling you, do not pitch
- 11:15Speaker 1: to Jordan Alvarez. Got a runner on third, two outs,
- 11:23Speaker 1: and they got him to ground out. I don't care
- 11:26Speaker 1: that they got him to ground out. I would not
- 11:30Speaker 1: pitch to Jordan Alvarez. They did. They got away with it.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I don't know why. Why are you pitching to Jordan Alvarez?
- 11:41Speaker 1: Please tell me. With a runner on third base. I
- 11:48Speaker 1: don't get it. You know, like I said, they got
- 11:53Speaker 1: away with it. And statistically, if, you know, everything's done
- 11:59Speaker 1: by analytics, you know, the statistics say that of the
- 12:06Speaker 1: three times you pitch to him, two, you're going to
- 12:08Speaker 1: get him out. I understand that.
- 12:11Speaker 3: But.
- 12:14Speaker 1: My philosophy is, and I know you want to know
- 12:16Speaker 1: my philosophy, and this is any sport, you don't want
- 12:19Speaker 1: the best player beating you. Okay? I don't care what
- 12:24Speaker 1: sport you're talking about, but you do not let the
- 12:27Speaker 1: best player beat you. Period. So, like, on Saturday, I
- 12:35Speaker 1: just saw the highlights of Ohio State and Illinois, right?
- 12:39Speaker 1: Jeremiah Smith had, what, 15 touchdown catches? And they.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Keep putting one guy on Jeremiah Smith. I'm going, in
- 12:51Speaker 1: what world? Could you maybe slide a second or even
- 12:57Speaker 1: a third defender over on Jeremiah Smith? If their other
- 13:01Speaker 1: receivers beat you, then so be it. But you know
- 13:04Speaker 1: who the best player on the field is. You know that.
- 13:11Speaker 1: And Texas almost did it. For the first half, Texas
- 13:14Speaker 1: let Jeremiah Smith run wild. It almost cost them that game.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Don't let the best player on the opposing team beat you.
- 13:24Speaker 1: If you guys want to use that in your little
- 13:26Speaker 1: league coaching strategies, be my guest. Right? I mean, in
- 13:32Speaker 1: a little league, there's always somebody bigger. When your kid's playing,
- 13:38Speaker 1: it's always... The kid's like 17 years old, and he's
- 13:41Speaker 1: playing in the 10-year-old league. Right? Again, in any sport,
- 13:46Speaker 1: there's always one. Don't let that guy beat you. That's
- 13:50Speaker 1: all I'm saying. Okay. We carry Mike Elko on Mondays
- 13:55Speaker 1: with the media, live here on The Zone. I know
- 14:00Speaker 1: that a couple of you work. Let's hear from Coach
- 14:04Speaker 1: Elko's meeting yesterday with the media.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I think just starting by pointing out excited to
- 14:11Speaker 4: start the 150th. anniversary kickoff Saturday night. Obviously a huge
- 14:17Speaker 4: thing for this university and honored that they're going to
- 14:19Speaker 4: start the kickoff celebration at a football game. Pretty cool
- 14:23Speaker 4: that we're able to break out the camo uniforms as
- 14:26Speaker 4: it kind of, I think, symbolizes what this university stands for.
- 14:29Speaker 4: And so excited for that opportunity. And I think just
- 14:33Speaker 4: start with what I told the guys this morning. I
- 14:34Speaker 4: think when you're in a position where you're facing adversity,
- 14:38Speaker 4: where things aren't going the way that you hoped, The
- 14:41Speaker 4: only thing you can do is come together and work.
- 14:43Speaker 4: That's the only option you have. You've got to commit
- 14:46Speaker 4: to a process that's going to allow the results to
- 14:48Speaker 4: change somehow, some way. And so we can't want it
- 14:52Speaker 4: to happen. We can't talk about it happening. There's no
- 14:54Speaker 4: magic words. We've got to identify the issues, and we've
- 14:58Speaker 4: got to go to attack it every single day. So
- 15:01Speaker 4: we had a good practice this morning. We had to
- 15:02Speaker 4: come out and have a great week of preparation. and
- 15:05Speaker 4: then go out Saturday and perform at the level that
- 15:08Speaker 4: we know we're capable of. And so from there, we'll
- 15:10Speaker 4: kind of open it up to questions.
- 15:11Speaker 3: We'll go to the right, second row, David.
- 15:14Speaker 7: Coach Elko, during the offseason and looking back through the offseason,
- 15:17Speaker 7: the first start of this season, were there signs that
- 15:20Speaker 7: maybe this team might struggle to deal with adversity that
- 15:24Speaker 7: maybe you saw early on that have kind of been
- 15:26Speaker 7: amplified with the season?
- 15:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I think probably one of the easiest things to
- 15:30Speaker 4: do is do things in retrospect like that. I think
- 15:35Speaker 4: that there's been times where you feared things like that
- 15:39Speaker 4: and they didn't come to fruition. There's times where you
- 15:41Speaker 4: thought things like that and they did. I think the
- 15:44Speaker 4: reality is that's clearly where we're at right now. We're
- 15:48Speaker 4: not responding to things that are going against us in
- 15:52Speaker 4: game the way that we need to. I think one
- 15:53Speaker 4: of the strengths of our team last year was how
- 15:56Speaker 4: we played defensively. off of each other. You know, when
- 15:58Speaker 4: a side of the ball was struggling, the other side
- 16:00Speaker 4: of the ball's ability to make a play or to
- 16:03Speaker 4: recreate momentum, to recreate energy, we just were not doing
- 16:07Speaker 4: that at the level that needs to be done right now,
- 16:09Speaker 4: not even close. And so what happens is these snowball effects, right?
- 16:14Speaker 4: And so we've got to figure out how to do
- 16:17Speaker 4: a better job of playing off each other, playing some
- 16:20Speaker 4: level of complementary football to each other, Because momentum is
- 16:24Speaker 4: a real thing, right? It's not an excuse, but it's
- 16:26Speaker 4: a real thing in football. And we've got to do
- 16:29Speaker 4: a better job of finding ways to recapture momentum. That
- 16:33Speaker 4: will help immensely, I think, in these games.
- 16:36Speaker 3: We'll stay on the right. First row, Carter.
- 16:38Speaker 8: Mike, what gives you confidence that Marcel can get back
- 16:41Speaker 8: to the player that he was last season?
- 16:44Speaker 4: Yeah, just his work ethic, how he comes to work
- 16:46Speaker 4: every day, who he is, and I think how he's
- 16:51Speaker 4: attacking this thing. And so we believe in him. We
- 16:54Speaker 4: believe that we've got to find a way to create
- 16:56Speaker 4: opportunities for him to be more successful. We've seen him
- 17:00Speaker 4: be more successful, and so we've got to get him there.
- 17:04Speaker 8: How do you approach when you have a quarterback struggling,
- 17:06Speaker 8: kind of coaching him? Are you more critical? Is it
- 17:10Speaker 8: more delicate? How do you kind of– strike that balance.
- 17:13Speaker 4: Yeah. I think each kid is, I think that's what
- 17:15Speaker 4: coaching is and whether they're struggling or having success, I
- 17:19Speaker 4: think coaching is trying to identify the best way to,
- 17:23Speaker 4: to extract results and, you know, get better performance. And
- 17:28Speaker 4: so obviously we've got to continue to try to find
- 17:30Speaker 4: what that, what that recipe is with him. But yeah,
- 17:35Speaker 4: I don't think there's a set way that you handle
- 17:37Speaker 4: a struggling kid. I think you're trying to help every
- 17:39Speaker 4: kid find a way to better performance. Marcel is certainly
- 17:42Speaker 4: no different.
- 17:43Speaker 3: We'll go to the left second row, Alex.
- 17:46Speaker 9: When you kind of dissect and diagnose the offense's struggles
- 17:49Speaker 9: so far, is it scheme, is it personnel, is it execution?
- 17:54Speaker 9: How do you kind of evaluate where that is as
- 17:57Speaker 9: you try and correct that?
- 17:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's obviously a little bit of all
- 18:00Speaker 4: of it. I think we've got to do a better
- 18:02Speaker 4: job of– explosive plays. I think a lot of that
- 18:07Speaker 4: is we've got to find better leverages and create better
- 18:10Speaker 4: opportunities to be able to do that. We're having to
- 18:13Speaker 4: be too precise. Obviously, last game was a really poor game,
- 18:19Speaker 4: but even before that, we're having to be too precise
- 18:22Speaker 4: and and that's hard to do. And so we've got
- 18:25Speaker 4: to find ways to create more explosive plays. We've got
- 18:27Speaker 4: to make sure that we're developing a rhythm of what
- 18:31Speaker 4: our kids can do comfortably and try to create a
- 18:35Speaker 4: little bit more flow to it. We're so choppy right now.
- 18:40Speaker 4: It's a good play followed up by a TFL, or
- 18:43Speaker 4: it's a good play followed up by an incompletion, or
- 18:47Speaker 4: we're too choppy, which puts us behind the chains a lot,
- 18:49Speaker 4: and we're playing a lot uphill, and that's not helping us.
- 18:52Speaker 4: And then we've just got to figure out, again, ways
- 18:56Speaker 4: to creatively stay ahead of the chains and move the football.
- 18:59Speaker 3: We'll go back over to the right, first row, Travis.
- 19:01Speaker 10: Yeah, Mike, how much confidence, for any reason, injury, helmet
- 19:06Speaker 10: coming off, how much confidence do you have in the
- 19:08Speaker 10: rest of the quarterback room that doesn't have as much
- 19:10Speaker 10: experience that they could step in and take on that moment?
- 19:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, they're a group that hasn't done a lot,
- 19:17Speaker 4: but you certainly have confidence in how they're developing and
- 19:20Speaker 4: what they're doing and how they're practicing.
- 19:22Speaker 10: And with any position on the group, when you have
- 19:24Speaker 10: a multi-year starter who is a veteran, how challenging can
- 19:28Speaker 10: it be to recruit depth out of the portal for
- 19:32Speaker 10: someone who has established position?
- 19:34Speaker 4: Oh, I think it's impossible. I don't think anybody anywhere
- 19:37Speaker 4: is recruiting depth out of the portal. I don't think
- 19:39Speaker 4: there are SEC-level players in the country that are trying
- 19:44Speaker 4: to go places where you have an established starter. I
- 19:47Speaker 4: don't think that's a real thing.
- 19:49Speaker 3: Okay. the left, first row, Tony.
- 19:51Speaker 11: Mike, philosophically, when you have struggles, whether it be offense, defensively,
- 19:55Speaker 11: and you get to the point where you have four
- 19:57Speaker 11: games to sample size, do you at some point say, hey, like,
- 20:00Speaker 11: maybe condense this a little bit and kind of work
- 20:02Speaker 11: on what works? Or do you kind of say, this
- 20:04Speaker 11: is who we are. We're going to get to the
- 20:06Speaker 11: level we need to to kind of be where we
- 20:07Speaker 11: want to be?
- 20:08Speaker 4: No, I think every evaluation has to start internal. I
- 20:12Speaker 4: think we start with who we are, what we're asking
- 20:15Speaker 4: these kids to do. I don't think, you know, it
- 20:18Speaker 4: doesn't show this way. Like, when you get in a rut...
- 20:21Speaker 4: and you have consistent failure, it doesn't show that you're
- 20:24Speaker 4: trying to do things to fix it. We are actively
- 20:28Speaker 4: trying to do things to fix it. We've got to
- 20:30Speaker 4: continue to do it better. That's the obvious statement. But like, yeah,
- 20:35Speaker 4: you try to look at, okay, what are we doing?
- 20:37Speaker 4: How can we create confidence? How can we create better leverage?
- 20:41Speaker 4: How can we create ways while also in the back
- 20:45Speaker 4: of your mind knowing like we can't recreate the wheel
- 20:48Speaker 4: because that will cause more confusion and lack of execution
- 20:53Speaker 4: if all of a sudden we come in tomorrow and say, hey,
- 20:55Speaker 4: let's try to do this drastically different. And so you
- 20:59Speaker 4: have to find ways within your system, within what you do.
- 21:03Speaker 4: But I do think there's answers that we've got to
- 21:05Speaker 4: come up with. There's no doubt about it.
- 21:07Speaker 3: We'll go to the back right, Chip.
- 21:09Speaker 4: Mike, the history of this series, no matter who the
- 21:11Speaker 4: coach is, has been fantastic.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Fourth quarter games late in the fourth quarter for whatever reason.
- 21:19Speaker 4: Can you see a pattern of that, or is it
- 21:22Speaker 4: just one of those teams and one of those series
- 21:25Speaker 4: that you expect that's the way it's going to be? Yeah,
- 21:28Speaker 4: I've played six of them now, and all six of
- 21:31Speaker 4: them have been that way. There's not one of the
- 21:33Speaker 4: six that I've played that's uh we're five and one
- 21:36Speaker 4: in it but we haven't every single one of them
- 21:39Speaker 4: has been that um you know the first one i
- 21:41Speaker 4: played in was was donovan wilson intercepting a ball to
- 21:43Speaker 4: end the game on the two-minute drive to last year
- 21:46Speaker 4: the shootout going back and forth to my first year
- 21:49Speaker 4: as the head coach nick skirton getting the sack you
- 21:51Speaker 4: know i mean like it's just that to me is
- 21:53Speaker 4: how this game has has consistently played out and so
- 21:57Speaker 4: I don't know that you project what Saturday will look
- 22:00Speaker 4: like or play like, but certainly that's been my history
- 22:03Speaker 4: with this series, an extremely competitive game. They're a really
- 22:06Speaker 4: good program. They have gotten up for this game and
- 22:10Speaker 4: always played really well against us, and so I certainly
- 22:14Speaker 4: don't anticipate that being any different on Saturday.
- 22:16Speaker 3: We'll go over to the left for throw, Rob.
- 22:19Speaker 4: Howdy, Coach. Howdy.
- 22:21Speaker 12: As you're looking at the film, dissecting it, do you
- 22:24Speaker 12: feel like is it execution or do you think it's
- 22:27Speaker 12: effort that's the problem?
- 22:30Speaker 4: It's certainly not effort. Again, I think there's... There's a
- 22:34Speaker 4: lot of cliches that go into struggles, and one of
- 22:37Speaker 4: them is always, you know, oh, they're not trying or
- 22:40Speaker 4: they're not putting everything they have into it. And I
- 22:42Speaker 4: just think those are, in a lot of ways, cliches.
- 22:46Speaker 4: At the end of the day, we're not getting results,
- 22:48Speaker 4: and we're all in this business to get results. That's
- 22:50Speaker 4: what we have to do. That's what this whole thing
- 22:54Speaker 4: is part of. That's why I consistently reminded you about
- 22:57Speaker 4: me being a fit here. It was a lot generated
- 22:59Speaker 4: on my results. That's just the nature of this business, right?
- 23:03Speaker 4: And so we have to go out there and we've
- 23:05Speaker 4: got to find ways to be more successful. There's a
- 23:09Speaker 4: lot that goes into what that takes, but I certainly
- 23:14Speaker 4: don't think it's just a matter of try harder.
- 23:17Speaker 3: We'll go to the right, second row, Olin.
- 23:21Speaker 13: Yeah, Mike, is there any facets of the game, of
- 23:24Speaker 13: the team, that you feel like, You got them playing
- 23:27Speaker 13: at an acceptable level that you feel good about.
- 23:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, special teams for sure. And, you know, again,
- 23:33Speaker 4: like it's hard. You guys know me well enough. Like
- 23:36Speaker 4: I'm not a silver lining type of guy. That's not
- 23:39Speaker 4: my nature when things are going well. It certainly isn't
- 23:41Speaker 4: my nature when things are going bad. But, you know,
- 23:44Speaker 4: I think if you look at the way Tyler White's
- 23:45Speaker 4: punting the ball, you look at the way David Alano's
- 23:47Speaker 4: kicking the ball, the way we're covering things, those things
- 23:51Speaker 4: certainly have taken positive strides.
- 23:54Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 23:55Speaker 4: I think the rest of it is a work in progress.
- 23:58Speaker 13: Do you get the sense that you have a team
- 24:01Speaker 13: or members of the team that have lost confidence where
- 24:03Speaker 13: you have to build them back up or encourage them,
- 24:05Speaker 13: or do you just have a team that's maybe angry
- 24:09Speaker 13: about the way things have gone so far?
- 24:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I think for sure, like to the concept you're asking,
- 24:15Speaker 4: I think for sure angry about the things that are gone.
- 24:17Speaker 4: I don't think when you go in the meeting room,
- 24:20Speaker 4: you don't have a broken team that you're trying to
- 24:21Speaker 4: piece back together. I think how they get performance and
- 24:27Speaker 4: how they get results, I think some of that is
- 24:30Speaker 4: a lot of different things. I think you have some
- 24:31Speaker 4: kids that are pressing and wanting it so bad that
- 24:34Speaker 4: it's not coming the way they want. You have some
- 24:36Speaker 4: kids that need to learn a little bit more what
- 24:38Speaker 4: it takes to strain to the level you need to
- 24:40Speaker 4: strain to. I think you have some kids that need
- 24:44Speaker 4: to practice better. There's a lot of layers to each
- 24:47Speaker 4: kid as to where performance needs to improve to get
- 24:51Speaker 4: the result that they want on Saturday. But if you're
- 24:54Speaker 4: asking big picture kids, We have a team that showed
- 24:58Speaker 4: up on time for the team meeting this morning wanting
- 25:00Speaker 4: to figure out what it's going to take to fix
- 25:02Speaker 4: this thing, change this thing, and move it in a
- 25:04Speaker 4: different direction. Again, those are words, right? We have to
- 25:07Speaker 4: go do it.
- 25:09Speaker 3: We'll go all the way back to the left, Nick.
- 25:12Speaker 4: Hey, Mike. After the U.K.
- 25:13Speaker 14: Game, you said that Marcel, I believe the word you
- 25:15Speaker 14: used was pressing. Did you feel like that was an
- 25:17Speaker 14: issue again against LSU? And I guess how do you
- 25:19Speaker 14: just help a player try and get through that sort
- 25:21Speaker 14: of just mental block that they might be going through?
- 25:24Speaker 4: Yeah, I think the struggles in the LSU game I
- 25:28Speaker 4: think were really deep. I think, again, these are obvious statements,
- 25:33Speaker 4: but he's a part of it. I don't think he
- 25:37Speaker 4: was the only part of it. And so... I think
- 25:41Speaker 4: there were struggles at so many levels in the LSU
- 25:45Speaker 4: game that it's hard to pinpoint one guy and what
- 25:49Speaker 4: he did wrong.
- 25:50Speaker 14: And then defensively, just the inability to get to and
- 25:53Speaker 14: sack the quarterback, has that surprised you through four games
- 25:55Speaker 14: so far? And I guess how could you generate more
- 25:57Speaker 14: pressure on this defense?
- 25:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I think we've got to figure out ways to
- 26:01Speaker 4: attack and blitz better. I think we've got to figure
- 26:04Speaker 4: out ways to make the quarterback more uncomfortable. There's no
- 26:08Speaker 4: doubt about it. I think that again, I don't think
- 26:11Speaker 4: it's a four-game problem. It certainly was a problem Saturday.
- 26:14Speaker 4: I think Saturday obviously was the first time where a
- 26:16Speaker 4: team really stood there through drop-back passes, and we weren't
- 26:19Speaker 4: able to get there the way we wanted to. And so,
- 26:22Speaker 4: you know, we've got to figure out a better plan
- 26:25Speaker 4: to do that more effectively.
- 26:27Speaker 15: All right.
- 26:28Speaker 3: We'll go over a second row. Alex.
- 26:31Speaker 9: I did want to ask what you see from this
- 26:32Speaker 9: Arkansas team that you're going to face on Saturday.
- 26:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's a team that's forming its identity
- 26:37Speaker 4: with a new staff. A lot of respect for Coach
- 26:39Speaker 4: Silverfield and what he's done. Ran a really, really strong
- 26:42Speaker 4: program at Memphis, obviously coming off of a really strong
- 26:46Speaker 4: victory last week against a Tulsa team that had been
- 26:49Speaker 4: playing really good football. And so they're certainly going to
- 26:51Speaker 4: come in here now with a lot of confidence that
- 26:54Speaker 4: they've started to figure things out and are moving in
- 26:56Speaker 4: a direction they want to move. And so a team
- 26:58Speaker 4: that's going to give us an awful lot Saturday night
- 27:00Speaker 4: for sure.
- 27:01Speaker 3: We'll stay on the left, Robert.
- 27:02Speaker 16: What about, Mike, when you look at your past defense,
- 27:05Speaker 16: you know, overall the last few games, going back in 24,
- 27:08Speaker 16: you had some problems, but moving forward to last year,
- 27:11Speaker 16: you fixed them. Do you see any similarities, and how
- 27:14Speaker 16: do you go about fixing that?
- 27:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I think when you break down the defensive game
- 27:20Speaker 4: Saturday night, I think it falls into three categories. I
- 27:25Speaker 4: think there were some times where early on we actually
- 27:29Speaker 4: were playing defensively, at an acceptable level. Then there were
- 27:34Speaker 4: some things that I would relate as like eye violations
- 27:37Speaker 4: where guys got lost in play actions in the backfield,
- 27:40Speaker 4: which caused some layers to the coverage issue. And then
- 27:45Speaker 4: there were just some, in my opinion, technical issues in
- 27:48Speaker 4: the second half where we got beat in man to
- 27:51Speaker 4: man so not so much the not matched on the
- 27:54Speaker 4: right guy not being on the right guy but getting
- 27:57Speaker 4: beat um and so um i think in those three
- 28:00Speaker 4: buckets um it's a little bit different but uh still
- 28:05Speaker 4: something that's obviously not to the level it needs to
- 28:07Speaker 4: be and needs to get corrected and improved all right anything.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Else for coach all right thank you great thank you guys.
- 28:20Speaker 1: All right, that's Coach Elko. We carried that live like
- 28:25Speaker 1: we do most of the time here on The Zone.

- 32:01Speaker 1: it feels like Monday around here. It's not. Sorry, it's me. Sorry,
- 32:04Speaker 1: it's Lizzie. Lizzie is in. I need to... I've got
- 32:09Speaker 1: an eye appointment coming up, actually, within the next minute.
- 32:11Speaker 1: I even dyed my hair to make it easier on you.
- 32:13Speaker 1: It looks beautiful.
- 32:13Speaker 18: Thanks.
- 32:14Speaker 1: It's just this auburn red... Um, lovely hair.
- 32:22Speaker 18: It's very kind of you to say.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Yeah. And I need whatever, whatever dye you use. I
- 32:26Speaker 1: need that.
- 32:27Speaker 18: Oh, I can hook you up.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Okay. I know.
- 32:30Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 32:30Speaker 1: You, uh, you hooked up, uh, you helped Corliss a
- 32:34Speaker 1: little bit, I think. Didn't you?
- 32:35Speaker 18: I've helped Corliss with a few things.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Yeah. Um, you, you, you were a big music, uh, uh,
- 32:42Speaker 1: MTV video awards watcher Sunday night. I know. Right. What
- 32:48Speaker 1: an evening that was. What an evening.
- 32:50Speaker 18: Well, I mean, I want to hear more about it, please.
- 32:53Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 32:53Speaker 12: I don't know.
- 32:54Speaker 1: I don't watch it. It was like the Madonna night.
- 33:01Speaker 18: The Madonna and Sabrina Carpenter thing.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Do you know that Madonna got 13 nominees? Do they
- 33:07Speaker 1: even do music videos anymore? This is my question.
- 33:11Speaker 18: Actually, they're coming back.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Really?
- 33:12Speaker 18: It's a resurgence. Yeah, absolutely.
- 33:14Speaker 8: Really?
- 33:14Speaker 18: In fact, I have some friends that are breaking into
- 33:17Speaker 18: the industry that have made some recent videos.
- 33:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Do you know Madonna's 103 years old?
- 33:23Speaker 18: I don't know.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Let me rephrase that. Parts of Madonna. Very few parts
- 33:30Speaker 1: of Madonna are 103 years old.
- 33:31Speaker 18: If you add up the original parts.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Snoop was the host. Always entertaining.
- 33:36Speaker 18: Love that.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Madonna had 13 nominations. That's more than T-Swift, who only
- 33:44Speaker 1: had 11. Sabrina Carpenter with nine. Ariana Grande with eight.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Madonna had seven wins.
- 33:54Speaker 13: Right.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Which is five more than T-Swift had. I don't know
- 33:59Speaker 1: what happened. I think her five minutes are up. Her
- 34:04Speaker 1: five minutes of fame are up.
- 34:05Speaker 21: Yeah, she's out.
- 34:06Speaker 18: I think she's been busy in the last year getting married.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Nah, she's done. She's finished. Absolutely finished.
- 34:12Speaker 18: She's already made a billion dollars, so I really need it.
- 34:15Speaker 1: She won for the fate of Ophelia. Of course. Let's see.
- 34:24Speaker 1: The best country, Ella Langley. That is a shock. Her song,
- 34:33Speaker 1: Choose in Texas, is the most downloaded, listened to song
- 34:39Speaker 1: in the history of the world. The history of the world.
- 34:43Speaker 1: I mean, it beat Beyonce's Christmas song.
- 34:47Speaker 21: Wow.
- 34:48Speaker 1: For a number of plays.
- 34:48Speaker 18: Well, but it's spanning different genres, too. So that's not surprising.
- 34:53Speaker 1: I guess. BTS was the best group.
- 34:56Speaker 18: Yeah, I mean, they will be.
- 34:57Speaker 1: I mean, how can you?
- 34:57Speaker 18: They have such a following.
- 34:59Speaker 1: I don't know who that is.
- 35:00Speaker 18: Most of my kids love them.
- 35:02Speaker 1: The Song of the Summer. Ariana Grande, Hate That I
- 35:07Speaker 1: Made You Love Me. Oh, what a song that is.
- 35:11Speaker 12: I haven't.
- 35:12Speaker 1: I haven't really heard that.
- 35:13Speaker 18: You're not just actively listening to pop music?
- 35:15Speaker 1: No.
- 35:16Speaker 18: That doesn't surprise. No, it surprises me greatly.
- 35:20Speaker 1: Speaking of which, you know, everybody has to do a
- 35:23Speaker 1: Dolly tribute.
- 35:25Speaker 13: Absolutely.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Even the MTVs. Well, Dolly's niece, Rebecca Seaver, is giving
- 35:35Speaker 1: USA Today a private tour of the new Dolly Museum.
- 35:40Speaker 1: The Life of Many Colors Museum. I love that title,
- 35:44Speaker 1: by the way. The Life of Many Colors Museum. A
- 35:48Speaker 1: rocking chair beneath wooden beams made to match those in
- 35:51Speaker 1: the Tennessee mountain home. A small, quiet corner in a
- 35:55Speaker 1: museum built to sparkle. A place where the woman known
- 36:00Speaker 1: for rhinestones, hit songs, larger than life dreams, feels close
- 36:05Speaker 1: enough to sit beside visitors, at least in spirit. Seaver,
- 36:10Speaker 1: the curator of the museum, worked hand-in-hand with Dolly to
- 36:13Speaker 1: build the space around the story of her life. In
- 36:18Speaker 1: the cabin, there's work boots, a lunchbox that belonged to
- 36:23Speaker 1: Dolly's dad, Robert Lee Parton, the pocket Bible that belonged
- 36:29Speaker 1: to her mother, Abby Lee. There's lots of Lees. Why
- 36:34Speaker 1: isn't there Dolly Lee? A feed sack dress... evokes what
- 36:39Speaker 1: Abby Lee may have worn while pregnant with Dolly. The
- 36:44Speaker 1: chair is part of a recreation of the family's mountain home.
- 36:48Speaker 1: For Seaver, it feels like an invitation to imagine Dolly
- 36:51Speaker 1: there resting, dreaming, turning memory into song. She says her
- 36:56Speaker 1: aunt would have liked it too. Nearly everything inside the 20,000
- 37:01Speaker 1: square foot museum on the third floor of Dolly's Songteller
- 37:07Speaker 1: Hotel Offers a similar connection. A coat of many colors,
- 37:13Speaker 1: original handwritten music. That's pretty cool.
- 37:16Speaker 3: Wow.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Wedding day photos of her and Carl.
- 37:20Speaker 14: Aw.
- 37:20Speaker 1: All 52 of her studio albums.
- 37:24Speaker 18: Holy moly.
- 37:25Speaker 1: Yeah. And plenty of Spangly jewelry. Yeah.
- 37:29Speaker 18: I mean, with all the Spangly jewelry, you probably need
- 37:31Speaker 18: about 10,000. I mean, let's go. I think that's amazing.
- 37:34Speaker 14: I'm going.
- 37:34Speaker 18: I love all the personal touches. Like a real, like.
- 37:38Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 37:38Speaker 18: Significant Dolly fan.
- 37:39Speaker 1: Been a few years since I've been to Nashville. I'm ready.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 37:43Speaker 18: But the fans that are really passionate about her are
- 37:47Speaker 18: going to feel really emotional.
- 37:48Speaker 3: I think.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Oh, they're going to love this.
- 37:49Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 37:49Speaker 1: No doubt. I mean, why wouldn't you?
- 37:51Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 37:54Speaker 1: You sure you didn't see the MTV Video Awards?
- 37:57Speaker 3: Okay.
- 37:58Speaker 1: I didn't either. Sorry. No, no, no. That's fine.
- 38:00Speaker 18: Let's move along.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Speaking of Dolly tributes, I got that.
- 38:04Speaker 18: Wig you asked me to get you.
- 38:05Speaker 3: No way.
- 38:05Speaker 18: The big blonde one.
- 38:06Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 38:07Speaker 1: I can't wait for that. Seriously.
- 38:09Speaker 18: We'll put pictures.
- 38:10Speaker 1: That's going to be awesome.
- 38:13Speaker 18: My turn?
- 38:14Speaker 17: Yeah, sure.
- 38:15Speaker 18: Prince Edward, the youngest of the four children of Queen
- 38:18Speaker 18: Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I can't keep them all.
- 38:23Speaker 18: This is why I'm telling you.
- 38:24Speaker 3: Okay.
- 38:24Speaker 18: Because I'm trying to set the stage. No, Edward.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Edward.
- 38:28Speaker 18: The youngest. He's 62. So he is the youngest child
- 38:33Speaker 18: of Elizabeth II and Philip.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Okay.
- 38:36Speaker 18: He is going to be.
- 38:37Speaker 1: So he's fourth in line to the throne, in other words. Ish? Yeah.
- 38:44Speaker 18: So he is actually widely known for his drama, free lifestyle,
- 38:48Speaker 18: and wide-ranging royal duties. He really is, and he didn't
- 38:51Speaker 18: even get the title of the Duke of Edinburgh until
- 38:54Speaker 18: like 2023.
- 38:55Speaker 1: Because?
- 38:56Speaker 18: That's when his brother bestowed it on him, Charles.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Really? Yeah. Okay.
- 39:01Speaker 18: Which is crazy because Prince Philip died in 21... And
- 39:04Speaker 18: then it was like two years later that.
- 39:06Speaker 6: Okay.
- 39:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 39:07Speaker 18: But he's on a five-day visit to the United States.
- 39:10Speaker 1: A walkabout.
- 39:11Speaker 4: A walkabout.
- 39:12Speaker 1: They love those. They love those in England.
- 39:14Speaker 18: Very cool.
- 39:15Speaker 1: He's going to have a hard time.
- 39:16Speaker 18: He's in the middle of it right now.
- 39:18Speaker 1: Well, he's. Is he thinking he's hitchhiking? I seriously doubt that.
- 39:23Speaker 1: If he's on a walkabout, this isn't the easiest country
- 39:26Speaker 1: to walk about it you know what i'm saying.
- 39:27Speaker 18: He's in a i worry about playing.
- 39:30Speaker 1: About i worry about the weather i worry about you know.
- 39:33Speaker 18: There is some significant weather happening right now people picking
- 39:37Speaker 18: him up you know just randomly off the highway i'm
- 39:42Speaker 18: pretty sure he's not by himself okay You know.
- 39:45Speaker 1: I would guess he's probably got a bit of an entourage.
- 39:47Speaker 1: You know, I live here. I don't know how these
- 39:49Speaker 1: things work over there.
- 39:50Speaker 18: Well, he's in the middle of it right now. He
- 39:52Speaker 18: came over September 28th.
- 39:52Speaker 1: Is he coming to College Station?
- 39:54Speaker 18: Unfortunately, I don't think that made the agenda this time around.
- 39:57Speaker 1: He's missing out.
- 39:58Speaker 18: He's going to be in New York, Baltimore, D.C. Baltimore?
- 40:01Speaker 18: And then up to Toronto.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Oh, good gosh. Toronto, as they say it. I hope
- 40:04Speaker 1: he doesn't get attacked in Baltimore. Never mind.
- 40:06Speaker 18: You know what? We don't need to speak these things.
- 40:09Speaker 1: Okay.
- 40:10Speaker 18: It's fine.
- 40:10Speaker 1: That's okay. Hey. He just needs to come here. That's
- 40:14Speaker 1: all I'm saying.
- 40:15Speaker 18: I think so, too.
- 40:16Speaker 1: I think he would have a blast. Where would we
- 40:17Speaker 1: take him?
- 40:19Speaker 18: The chicken. Take him to the chicken.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Be the first?
- 40:23Speaker 13: First stop?
- 40:24Speaker 18: Yeah, I think that would be a great place to start.
- 40:26Speaker 1: Okay.
- 40:26Speaker 18: Get him a nice beer and then take him around.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Have to have some Mexican food.
- 40:30Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 40:31Speaker 1: You know, we'd have to get him some Mexican food.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Where would you take him for some Mexican food? Maria Mia's. Yes.
- 40:37Speaker 18: We're on the same page there, my friend.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Yeah. He'd have to have some barbecue. You know, we
- 40:42Speaker 1: could just help him.
- 40:44Speaker 18: Yeah, we have too many options, really.
- 40:45Speaker 1: We'd have to take him to the library, the Bush Library.
- 40:47Speaker 18: I think so. I think he would need to see that.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Yeah, he would appreciate that.
- 40:50Speaker 18: We have some really good exhibits going on right now.
- 40:52Speaker 1: Yeah, we do. So what's his name again?
- 40:55Speaker 18: Edward.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Edward.
- 40:56Speaker 18: Yeah, Duke of Edinburgh.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Duke of Edinburgh.
- 40:59Speaker 18: Formerly the Earl of Wessex.
- 41:01Speaker 1: So he got promoted from Earl of Wessex to Duke
- 41:05Speaker 1: of Edinburgh?
- 41:06Speaker 18: Yeah, I mean, I guess so.
- 41:09Speaker 4: Okay.
- 41:10Speaker 18: Hold on.
- 41:11Speaker 1: I should be the Duke.
- 41:12Speaker 18: I'm not the expert.
- 41:13Speaker 1: I could be the Duke of Earl.
- 41:14Speaker 18: You know who's the expert in all of this?
- 41:17Speaker 1: Allie.
- 41:17Speaker 18: Ben Downs.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Oh, that's right.
- 41:19Speaker 18: He's the expert.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Ben is the expert.
- 41:20Speaker 18: We really wanted the timeline and everything. He'd probably lay
- 41:23Speaker 18: it all out for us. He'd probably get a whiteboard
- 41:24Speaker 18: out now in 2021.
- 41:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 41:27Speaker 18: He probably would.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Well, I'd need a whiteboard.
- 41:29Speaker 18: I need to work on my Ben Downs impersonation.
- 41:30Speaker 1: I can't keep up with the Royals. It's difficult. It's
- 41:34Speaker 1: really hard.
- 41:35Speaker 18: I can barely keep up with my own family.
- 41:36Speaker 1: They're always walking about. and I can't keep up. But
- 41:41Speaker 1: that's okay.
- 41:41Speaker 18: What you got?
- 41:43Speaker 1: Oh, what do I have?
- 41:44Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 41:45Speaker 12: Ooh.
- 41:47Speaker 1: There's a new possible ransom note in the Nancy Guthrie case.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Have you seen this?
- 41:54Speaker 18: Oh, I haven't, but I want to hear about it.
- 41:57Speaker 1: The Pima County Sheriff's Office announced they have recently been
- 42:01Speaker 1: made aware of the note, along with social media comments
- 42:06Speaker 1: about it, and they're Probing with the FBI to see
- 42:12Speaker 1: if the note is authentic. The contents have not been released.
- 42:18Speaker 1: She was kidnapped from her home in Tucson. That was
- 42:21Speaker 1: in February.
- 42:22Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 42:23Speaker 1: It's been too long. Almost eight months ago. Okay. A
- 42:31Speaker 1: mask intruder was caught on a doorbell camera lurking.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 42:37Speaker 1: The FBI released that footage. She has not been seen
- 42:43Speaker 1: since that day. But one of a couple of alleged
- 42:48Speaker 1: ransom notes from the suspect or suspects stated she was dead.
- 42:54Speaker 1: The Guthrie family believes that note is genuine, has publicly
- 42:58Speaker 1: publicly asked for her body to be returned.
- 43:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:02Speaker 1: TMZ and other news outlets received the ransom notes, which
- 43:11Speaker 1: were turned over to the FBI and the Sheriff's County.
- 43:13Speaker 1: More recently, the case has been languishing a bit. You think?
- 43:18Speaker 1: I don't know that it hasn't never been languishing because
- 43:21Speaker 1: I never found her.
- 43:22Speaker 18: I'm loving the true crime podcast that we've got going.
- 43:24Speaker 21: On right now.
- 43:25Speaker 1: But now with this new possible lead, they say things
- 43:31Speaker 1: are heating up again.
- 43:32Speaker 4: Interesting.
- 43:33Speaker 1: I mean, how could things be heating up again?
- 43:35Speaker 18: I'm wondering, because if we believe that, you know, we're
- 43:38Speaker 18: looking for simply remains at this point.
- 43:39Speaker 16: Right.
- 43:41Speaker 18: I guess heating up could mean a resolution.
- 43:44Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean, first of all. The people
- 43:50Speaker 1: who did this are idiots. I still believe they're going
- 43:53Speaker 1: to get caught.
- 43:54Speaker 18: Well, why are they sending.
- 43:56Speaker 1: Ransom notes after the fact? Hey, we'll give your mother's
- 43:59Speaker 1: body back for X amount of money.
- 44:00Speaker 18: And technology's not on their side either.
- 44:02Speaker 10: No.
- 44:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:03Speaker 1: I mean, the more of this stuff they do, the
- 44:06Speaker 1: more the chances increase they will be caught.
- 44:09Speaker 18: It's almost like they're trying to be caught. They're being
- 44:12Speaker 18: risky on purpose.
- 44:13Speaker 1: Oh, they want to be on all over social media.
- 44:15Speaker 18: Yeah, I mean, whatever.
- 44:17Speaker 1: They want to be... They want to be part of
- 44:21Speaker 1: the perp walk that cops them and takes them to jail.
- 44:24Speaker 1: Know what I'm saying?
- 44:27Speaker 18: I don't know, man. That would never be me. Also,
- 44:29Speaker 18: I would never abduct a human. All right.
- 44:32Speaker 1: Well, I'll put that down for you as a no.
- 44:34Speaker 4: Yes.
- 44:35Speaker 1: Okay.
- 44:36Speaker 18: Don't need a perp walk.
- 44:37Speaker 1: That'll go on that side of the ledger.
- 44:38Speaker 4: It's fine.
- 44:39Speaker 18: I'd rather just help you with your dollars.
- 44:41Speaker 1: Have you ever had a perp walk?
- 44:43Speaker 18: No, I'm a little too much of a rule follower
- 44:46Speaker 18: in some cases.
- 44:48Speaker 1: You don't have to apologize for that.
- 44:49Speaker 18: No, I think it's a good thing.
- 44:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:52Speaker 1: I've never had a purple.
- 44:53Speaker 18: I can apply for any job I want.
- 44:54Speaker 1: Now, paparazzi, that's a whole nother issue. I know. Yeah.
- 44:58Speaker 1: I don't like paparazzi. They just show up everywhere and
- 45:01Speaker 1: I don't know how they know where I'm going to
- 45:03Speaker 1: be on a given point. You know, I think we
- 45:06Speaker 1: got leaks here. There's no doubt about that.
- 45:08Speaker 18: I'm just, you know, the call up going, Hey, I'm
- 45:10Speaker 18: coming clean right now.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Chip's going to be here tonight. You know, that kind
- 45:13Speaker 1: of deal.
- 45:13Speaker 18: That and also probably that we post it everywhere on
- 45:15Speaker 18: our website.
- 45:16Speaker 1: I don't like that. I don't like that. But hey,
- 45:22Speaker 1: I can't excoriate public figures who say, oh, I don't
- 45:26Speaker 1: like all of that because they're public figures. You signed
- 45:29Speaker 1: up for it, right? I get that.
- 45:31Speaker 18: In a way. But there should still be human decency.
- 45:33Speaker 1: There should be boundaries.
- 45:35Speaker 18: Human decency.
- 45:36Speaker 1: That's all I'm saying.
- 45:36Speaker 18: Yes.
- 45:38Speaker 1: Keep the camera out of my family's faces. That's all
- 45:40Speaker 1: I'm asking.
- 45:41Speaker 18: You sounded very almost Will Smith when you said that.
- 45:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not happy. Yeah, yeah, I'm not happy about that. Well,
- 45:47Speaker 1: I haven't slapped anybody on stage.
- 45:50Speaker 18: You know, there's always time.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah, there is.
- 45:52Speaker 18: That's why I'm on the other side of the room.
- 45:53Speaker 1: Time's running out, but go ahead. Okay.
- 45:55Speaker 18: I got something about Al Roker.
- 45:58Speaker 1: You know, he's a friend of the show.
- 45:59Speaker 18: That's why we're talking about him, right?
- 46:00Speaker 1: Yeah, several time friend of the show.
- 46:02Speaker 18: He played hooky at work.
- 46:03Speaker 1: No way.
- 46:04Speaker 18: You want to guess why?
- 46:05Speaker 1: He was?
- 46:06Speaker 18: He was working.
- 46:07Speaker 1: He was hungry.
- 46:09Speaker 18: Come on.
- 46:10Speaker 1: He hadn't had breakfast. Be kind.
- 46:11Speaker 18: No, no. He actually did work for a while, but
- 46:14Speaker 18: he left a little bit early.
- 46:15Speaker 1: He left the show?
- 46:16Speaker 18: Mm-hmm. So... Okay.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Let's see. I'm interested now.
- 46:21Speaker 18: So he joined in for the weather, for the nationwide
- 46:24Speaker 18: weather forecast.
- 46:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:26Speaker 18: And did Hurricane Polo updates.
- 46:29Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 46:29Speaker 18: And then he was like, I gotta go, guys. And so.
- 46:33Speaker 1: That's it.
- 46:34Speaker 18: Yeah, but then he made a post later on.
- 46:35Speaker 4: Like you do.
- 46:37Speaker 18: A video on Insta.
- 46:38Speaker 1: Like you do.
- 46:39Speaker 18: That he had jury duty on. And then he said,
- 46:42Speaker 18: I've got jury duty. It's everybody's duty to do your duty.
- 46:45Speaker 18: And then he said, he said duty twice.
- 46:48Speaker 1: He said duty.
- 46:51Speaker 18: Those jokes are always funny. It's like Animal House. I
- 46:54Speaker 18: got a story about that movie.
- 46:57Speaker 1: For another time. Okay. There's lots of Animal House stories.
- 47:01Speaker 18: It's about my dad's frat.
- 47:03Speaker 1: Really? Mm-hmm.
- 47:04Speaker 4: True.
- 47:04Speaker 1: Oregon State?
- 47:06Speaker 18: It's not about Oregon State.
- 47:07Speaker 1: Oh, okay. That's where it was filmed.
- 47:09Speaker 18: Yes, but that's not where... Jim Belushi hung out for
- 47:12Speaker 18: a while. Or John Belushi hung out for a while.
- 47:14Speaker 1: Where was it?
- 47:15Speaker 18: Where my dad was. I'm not going to get into it.
- 47:17Speaker 1: Oh, you're not?
- 47:18Speaker 18: It's for another show.
- 47:19Speaker 1: Oh, shoot.
- 47:20Speaker 17: Okay.
- 47:20Speaker 18: You got to tease him, right? Isn't that what we're.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Supposed to do? It was an animal house. It was
- 47:25Speaker 1: Caddy Shack. Yes. When they were cleaning the pool.
- 47:30Speaker 18: Snickers bar, in quotes.
- 47:34Speaker 1: Bill Murray goes, I got it.
- 47:35Speaker 7: I got it.
- 47:36Speaker 1: Put it in his mouth.
- 47:37Speaker 11: Yikes.
- 47:39Speaker 18: What a delight, Bill Murray.
- 47:40Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 47:41Speaker 1: You know, I just think he's hilarious. He's just not
- 47:44Speaker 1: a very good person, but he's hilarious. I just laugh
- 47:48Speaker 1: just seeing him. He doesn't have to do anything. He's everywhere, too.
- 47:51Speaker 1: He just has to stand there. He shows up at
- 47:53Speaker 1: people's weddings.
- 47:54Speaker 18: Yeah, doesn't he live in what?
- 47:56Speaker 1: He lives in upstate New York.
- 47:57Speaker 18: Right, but he also has a place down in like
- 48:00Speaker 18: the Carolinas.
- 48:00Speaker 4: Maybe so.
- 48:01Speaker 18: Because he hangs out down there.
- 48:02Speaker 1: Okay.
- 48:02Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Anyway. If there's free booze, Bill's going to be there.
- 48:07Speaker 18: Hey, count me in, too.
- 48:08Speaker 1: Yeah, you can count on that.
- 48:09Speaker 18: Give me some bourbon.
- 48:10Speaker 1: He's not going to be paid for any drinks. I
- 48:12Speaker 1: would sit in front of.
- 48:13Speaker 18: A fireplace with Bill Murray and share bourbon.
- 48:15Speaker 1: I would do it. That would be fun.
- 48:17Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 48:18Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 48:20Speaker 18: The first bourbon after that.
- 48:23Speaker 1: There's never just one. Yeah, but they're never quite how
- 48:26Speaker 1: you picture them to be. That's the problem.
- 48:28Speaker 18: No, I have a little bit too much experience with that.
- 48:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, me too. Tallulah Willis is sharing a cute
- 48:36Speaker 1: moment with dad Bruce, the youngest daughter of Bruce and Demi.
- 48:41Speaker 21: Yes.
- 48:41Speaker 1: She's 32. Because like rumors. Let's see if I can.
- 48:47Speaker 1: Let's see if I can name all of them.
- 48:49Speaker 18: Oh, I can't.
- 48:51Speaker 13: Apple.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Moses.
- 48:54Speaker 13: Scout.
- 48:56Speaker 18: Scout's right.
- 48:57Speaker 17: It is.
- 48:57Speaker 5: It is.
- 48:57Speaker 18: I'm pretty sure.
- 48:58Speaker 21: Rumor.
- 48:59Speaker 18: Rumor is right. I don't know. Scout is somebody's. Apple
- 49:01Speaker 18: is definitely not theirs. That's a whole different celebrity.
- 49:05Speaker 1: Okay. Anyway.
- 49:06Speaker 18: You're just saying words at this point.
- 49:09Speaker 13: Correct.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Shared a rare look at sweet father-daughter moment she shared
- 49:14Speaker 1: on Instagram yesterday.
- 49:17Speaker 18: On the photo app.
- 49:18Speaker 1: Like you do. In the snap, Tallulah could be seen
- 49:21Speaker 1: kissing her father on the forehead as she stood above him,
- 49:24Speaker 1: held his head in her hands. The fifth element star
- 49:27Speaker 1: could be seen closing his eyes as he soaked up
- 49:30Speaker 1: the moment. So cute, she captured the post, which offers
- 49:34Speaker 1: a role reversal from other photos she has shared of
- 49:37Speaker 1: her dad kissing her.
- 49:38Speaker 4: On the head.
- 49:39Speaker 1: The post comes a month after she had shared an
- 49:42Speaker 1: update on Bruce's health. Family announced the diagnosis, of course,
- 49:46Speaker 1: back in 22. Right.
- 49:49Speaker 18: It's amazing he's still doing as well as he is.
- 49:51Speaker 18: It's a form of frontotemporal depression.
- 49:53Speaker 1: The Los Angeles-based entrepreneur and artiste said at the end
- 49:58Speaker 1: of August her dad is, quote, doing the same in
- 50:01Speaker 1: terms of the last we updated, which I'm told is good.
- 50:04Speaker 1: But whatever kind of day it is, my family and
- 50:06Speaker 1: I meet him where he's at.
- 50:09Speaker 18: And that's the most important thing with that. And it's
- 50:12Speaker 18: so heartwarming. And I love it. It really makes me
- 50:15Speaker 18: feel good to know that they're taking the time that
- 50:16Speaker 18: they have.
- 50:17Speaker 1: I wish I'd have been nicer to my kids.
- 50:20Speaker 18: You're worried they're going to be like, hey, you see
- 50:22Speaker 18: that place across the street? That's where you're going.
- 50:25Speaker 1: Yeah, we're not taking care of him.
- 50:26Speaker 18: I know your kids.
- 50:27Speaker 1: They love you. Do we want to do birthdays? Do
- 50:34Speaker 1: you have another story?
- 50:35Speaker 18: The only one I have that I think I really
- 50:37Speaker 18: want to share is that Zahara Marlee Jolie Pitt is
- 50:40Speaker 18: now legally Zahara Marlee Jolie dropped the pit.
- 50:44Speaker 1: Oh, dropped the pit.
- 50:45Speaker 18: And that came Monday, was official, I believe.
- 50:50Speaker 1: She's really poisoned her children against him. I mean, you
- 50:54Speaker 1: don't know what's going on in the middle of all that.
- 50:56Speaker 18: Plus, those people have more money than sense anyway.
- 50:59Speaker 1: I have no clue.
- 50:59Speaker 18: Noah, she's been going by that name for quite a while, actually,
- 51:03Speaker 18: for three years at least, officially. She pledged her sorority
- 51:08Speaker 18: in 2023.
- 51:10Speaker 1: Is Angelina married?
- 51:13Speaker 18: Ooh, that's a bad question.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know.
- 51:15Speaker 18: She's actually been staying out of the limelight much.
- 51:18Speaker 1: We haven't seen a lot of her lately, have we?
- 51:19Speaker 14: But you know what?
- 51:20Speaker 18: That's great for her. I'm happy for her.
- 51:21Speaker 4: Good for her.
- 51:22Speaker 1: All right, let's do birthdays. Sunday birthday, Randy Bachman and
- 51:26Speaker 1: Bachman Turner Overdrive turned 83 Sunday.
- 51:29Speaker 18: Wow.
- 51:30Speaker 1: Liz Torres of Gilmore Girls turned 79. Wow, I love her.
- 51:37Speaker 1: Sean Cassidy turned 68 on Sunday. I'm not kidding about that.
- 51:46Speaker 1: Let's see. Gwyneth Paltrow. Oh. Speaking of Apple.
- 51:49Speaker 18: We were just talking about her childhood.
- 51:50Speaker 19: 54.
- 51:54Speaker 18: Can I just say I actually thought she was older
- 51:56Speaker 18: than that?
- 51:56Speaker 1: Parts of her. Let's see. She looks good. She's had
- 52:04Speaker 1: good work done. She looks good for 54. Avril Lavigne.
- 52:07Speaker 18: Oh, she's still alive?
- 52:08Speaker 1: She was 42 on Sunday. Yes.
- 52:12Speaker 18: People think that she's a dupe. Like it's a doppelganger
- 52:16Speaker 18: that she's not her anymore.
- 52:17Speaker 1: Like Elvis?

- 52:26Speaker 1: is still 80 today as far as we know. John Sayles, writer-director,
- 52:29Speaker 1: 76 yesterday. Janine Garofalo, kind of like her. I do.
- 52:37Speaker 1: I think she's funny. She did a wonderful turn on
- 52:39Speaker 1: Seinfeld as Jerry's girlfriend that was just like Jerry.
- 52:43Speaker 18: What was the movie, Mystery Men? Is that the one
- 52:44Speaker 18: she was in? She was a quote-unquote superhero?
- 52:47Speaker 1: 62.
- 52:48Speaker 8: 62. Okay.
- 52:50Speaker 1: Mira Savino, 59.
- 52:52Speaker 18: Okay.
- 52:53Speaker 13: Oh.
- 52:53Speaker 18: Let's hear it.

- 53:02Speaker 1: 59.
- 53:02Speaker 18: 59. 59.
- 53:03Speaker 1: And when was that? A couple of years ago. I
- 53:08Speaker 1: talked to her.
- 53:08Speaker 18: That's very cool.
- 53:10Speaker 1: Naomi Watts.
- 53:12Speaker 18: Okay.
- 53:12Speaker 1: 58. Mandy Barnett. I like her.
- 53:16Speaker 6: Uh-huh.
- 53:17Speaker 1: 51. 51. She's older than I thought.
- 53:20Speaker 18: Are we on today's birthday?
- 53:21Speaker 1: Not yet. We're getting there.
- 53:23Speaker 18: I'm eagerly awaiting.
- 53:24Speaker 1: I know you are. You've got many. Oh, Hilary Duff
- 53:28Speaker 1: turned 39 yesterday.
- 53:30Speaker 18: She's my namesake. No, I'm just kidding.
- 53:32Speaker 1: No.
- 53:32Speaker 18: Lizzie McGuire.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Sorry. Okay. Now let's do today. Okay.
- 53:39Speaker 18: I got Brian Gumpel, 78.
- 53:41Speaker 1: A friend of the show. No, actually, I talked to
- 53:44Speaker 1: Brian Gumbel before I had this show, years ago.
- 53:46Speaker 18: Friend of Chip Howard Directly.
- 53:48Speaker 1: Yeah, Houston Golf Tournament.
- 53:51Speaker 18: I'm really good at picking out the ones that are
- 53:52Speaker 18: friend of show.
- 53:54Speaker 1: Ian McShane from John Wick and Deadwood.
- 53:57Speaker 6: Love those movies.
- 53:57Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 53:58Speaker 18: John Wick movies are exciting.
- 54:00Speaker 1: 84 today.
- 54:01Speaker 18: Andrew Dice Clay is 69.
- 54:02Speaker 1: No way. Yep. Hadn't heard from him in a while,
- 54:06Speaker 1: have we?
- 54:08Speaker 18: Probably not.
- 54:09Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh. Alvin Crowe, fiddle player deluxe, 76, still
- 54:16Speaker 1: playing at the Broken Spoke in Austin. I love that.
- 54:20Speaker 1: I've seen Alvin Crowe several times at the Broken Spoke
- 54:23Speaker 1: in Austin. When he first started, his group was called
- 54:26Speaker 1: the Neon Angels. Now, this is back in the early
- 54:30Speaker 1: 70s right there. That's not them anymore.
- 54:32Speaker 14: Come on, Chip.
- 54:32Speaker 18: You're not that old, right?
- 54:33Speaker 1: Correct.
- 54:34Speaker 18: I got another musician.
- 54:36Speaker 1: Good.
- 54:37Speaker 18: Les Claypool of Primus, 63.
- 54:39Speaker 1: No way.
- 54:39Speaker 18: 63, yeah.
- 54:40Speaker 14: Okay.
- 54:41Speaker 4: Okay.
- 54:42Speaker 18: And the Crown actor, speaking of the Royals, Ben Miles
- 54:46Speaker 18: is 60.
- 54:46Speaker 1: I think I know who that is. Honestly. Emily Lloyd,
- 54:52Speaker 1: 56 today.
- 54:54Speaker 18: Kelly McCreary of Grey's Anatomy fame is 45. Is that
- 54:57Speaker 18: show still on? Yes, it is.
- 54:59Speaker 1: That show will not die.
- 55:00Speaker 18: Hey, you know what? I'm always going to speak up
- 55:02Speaker 18: for the Grey's Anatomy fans.
- 55:03Speaker 1: It needs to die. You and Krista. Krista was a
- 55:05Speaker 1: huge Grey's Anatomy fan.
- 55:07Speaker 18: I can't help it.
- 55:08Speaker 14: Uh.
- 55:09Speaker 1: Phillips?
- 55:10Speaker 18: Yes, 36.
- 55:11Speaker 1: No kidding.
- 55:12Speaker 18: And Halsey is 32. Halsey is 32.
- 55:15Speaker 1: Boy, they get away in a hurry, don't they?
- 55:17Speaker 18: Too much money for young people.

- 55:58Speaker 15: It was after a hailstorm a few years back. I
- 56:00Speaker 15: needed a new roof. Yeah, I shopped around, and then
- 56:02Speaker 15: I found Schulte Roofing, and boy, I'm glad I did.
- 56:05Speaker 15: The folks at Schulte guided me every step of the way.
- 56:08Speaker 15: They showed me my options. They told me what my
- 56:10Speaker 15: out-of-pocket cost would be after insurance. They took the complication
- 56:14Speaker 15: out of an otherwise very stressful situation. They took off
- 56:17Speaker 15: the damaged roof, put on the new roof, did all
- 56:19Speaker 15: the cleanup, and I had my new roof in one day.
- 56:21Speaker 20: Schulte!
- 56:24Speaker 22: Following their week three loss of Rio to the Baltimore Ravens,
- 56:32Speaker 22: Dallas Cowboys executive vice president, Steven Jones spoke on the
- 56:35Speaker 22: team's lacking ability to put away a game.
- 56:37Speaker 21: I think, I think it's got to become our identity.
- 56:40Speaker 21: I think he said it best. We do got to
- 56:42Speaker 21: put the game away. I mean, that's no question. That's
- 56:45Speaker 21: where our best players are not to take anything away
- 56:48Speaker 21: from the defense. If you just look at the math,
- 56:52Speaker 21: obviously with Dak and, two of the best receivers in
- 56:55Speaker 21: the league and two of the best guard you know
- 56:58Speaker 21: paying guard top of the line now he's not out
- 57:01Speaker 21: there right now but uh and a running back and
- 57:03Speaker 21: a tight end we got to you know you you've
- 57:06Speaker 21: got to go uh win the game right there and
- 57:08Speaker 21: unfortunately we didn't get the job done but uh if
- 57:11Speaker 21: we want to uh have the type of team uh
- 57:14Speaker 21: we know we can have and we uh Got to have,
- 57:17Speaker 21: then we've got to do better than we did last night.
- 57:21Speaker 21: We've got to finish and close and have every opportunity
- 57:24Speaker 21: to win that football game.
- 57:25Speaker 1: Kevin Walker, TSN Sports.
