Transcript
- 0:05everybody to Mom St. USA.
- 0:07My name is Jackie, AKA Wishes Mama.
- 0:09And on this episode of Mom St. USA, we are touching on a topic
- 0:14that I feel like kind of just goes hand in hand with any time
- 0:17you talk about a Disney trip and that is doing Disney on a
- 0:21budget. So I feel like this is a little
- 0:24timely given that just this week we got some increases in prices
- 0:31at Disney. But today the hope is to give
- 0:33you some tips and tricks to be able to save some dollars on
- 0:38your Disney trip. We are going to talk a little
- 0:40bit about a few of the other parks, but primarily focused on
- 0:43Disney. However, I will say a lot of the
- 0:45tips that I give you today will easily transfer to other theme
- 0:49parks that you are planning to visit.
- 0:51We have talked about this topic a long, long time ago on Mom
- 0:56Street. So my hope was just to revisit
- 0:58today, give you some reminders, maybe jog your memory about some
- 1:02of the most basic things that you can do in order to help your
- 1:06bank account and have a little bit of a budget and maybe some
- 1:11some savings ideas whenever you go to the Disney parks.
- 1:15So again, like I said, Disney is expensive, but there are some
- 1:20things that you can do to help save money and still have the
- 1:23most magical trip when you go to visit the parks.
- 1:25So this will hopefully serve as a starting point or maybe a
- 1:29reminder point for some of you. If you've heard some of these
- 1:32tips and tricks before, it may just be a place that you go.
- 1:35Oh right, yes, that's something that I need to start doing to
- 1:39help budget for my upcoming trip or to help budget before I book
- 1:44my next trip that I want to take.
- 1:45So we're, I'm going to talk primarily about two different
- 1:50kind of categories because we're going to divide it into the the
- 1:54timing of things. So we're going to talk about
- 1:57before you go on your trip and then during your trip.
- 2:02So those are kind of what we're going to hit on for today's
- 2:05episode. So let's start by jumping into
- 2:09what can I do before I go to Disney to help myself save money
- 2:15and set a very realistic budget for my trip.
- 2:19So the very first thing that I always suggest to anybody who's
- 2:23wanting to go is do your best to book your trip well in advance.
- 2:28I know it can be hard sometimes depending on work schedules,
- 2:32depending on school schedules, depending on budget like we're
- 2:36talking about, but the earlier you can book your trip, the
- 2:40better it's going to be for you overall.
- 2:43First of all, this will help you pay a little bit as you go.
- 2:46So Disney doesn't officially offer any sort of payment plans
- 2:51for their trips or for your, you know, your bookings that you do
- 2:56through them. However, depending on how far
- 3:01out you book and depending on what you book, you may have some
- 3:05different options. So if you book a package through
- 3:08Disney, you are going to be required to put a $200 deposit
- 3:12down for that package deal. That being said, the remainder
- 3:18of your balance for your trip will not be due until 30 days
- 3:21prior to check in. So you have all of that time to
- 3:25make whatever payments you want towards your trip.
- 3:28So you can put yourself on a payment plan if you so choose
- 3:32to. Now if you book like a room only
- 3:35deal that is a little bit different in that you will pay
- 3:39the equivalent of one night ahead of time like when you book
- 3:43and then the remainder of your balance will be due at check in.
- 3:46So again, you still have time if you can book early enough.
- 3:50It just depends on time frame with that.
- 3:53Now I will say with that, if you end up booking your tickets or
- 3:56purchasing your tickets separately from everything else,
- 4:01the entire amount of that will be due at time of purchase.
- 4:03So keep that in mind. Couple different ways to to look
- 4:06at that. Disney typically opens their
- 4:11reservation availability at least a year in advance.
- 4:16Sometimes it's more, sometimes it's a little less depending on
- 4:19the time of year and when things open.
- 4:21But almost always Disney is going to open that at least a
- 4:25year in advance. So that gives you the ability to
- 4:28really plan ahead and look at your budget, figure out your
- 4:32timeline if you do want to create kind of your own payment
- 4:35plan for yourself. The other thing that this will
- 4:38help you do if you do book your trip while in advance is if you
- 4:42were someone who is flying to the parks, you and your family
- 4:46are not close enough to drive. You're going to be taking a
- 4:48plane. This gives you the ability to
- 4:52use some of the apps and websites that are out there and
- 4:56available to help you track some flight prices.
- 4:58So things like Kayak, Hopper, Google Flights, even just some
- 5:04of the apps within themselves for like I know I've used it on
- 5:07Southwest and Frontier and some and American and some of those
- 5:11will even have, you know, the varying prices in their apps as
- 5:16well. But that just gives you the
- 5:17ability to look at what are these prices going to do?
- 5:21Where are they at now? Where I am, Do I think they're
- 5:24going to go down? Do I want to wait?
- 5:26You know, all those types of things.
- 5:27It's a little tricky to to get into and I'm not going to even
- 5:30try to go into the logistics of when to book your flights
- 5:37because it really varies depending on the airline and the
- 5:40airport and things that you're using.
- 5:42But if you book enough in advance, it does give you a much
- 5:46longer time frame to kind of shop for some of those cheaper
- 5:50prices for your flights. Now, Speaking of flights, we're
- 5:53not going to talk a ton about packing today, but looking at
- 5:56different options for what bundles they have for, you know,
- 6:00everyone is charging for carry ONS for checked bags now.
- 6:04A lot of places are charging for carry ONS now.
- 6:06So take a look at some of that and really shop around when it
- 6:10comes to your flights that you're looking at and what
- 6:14airlines you're planning to use. Because at face value, something
- 6:18might look less expensive, but when you get into those hidden
- 6:23fees, that's where they really get you when it comes to the
- 6:25prices. So again, booking further out
- 6:28gives you the ability to look at your flight prices.
- 6:32But then also don't forget to look at some of those checked
- 6:35bags carry ONS and maybe figure out how to save yourself some
- 6:39money, some money there if you're able to use just carry
- 6:42ONS or something like that. So that is the the the main tip
- 6:47that I will give as far as like before you go booking in
- 6:52advance, things like that. Now as far as setting yourself a
- 6:56budget, this is really going to depend on a lot of different
- 7:00variables. So it's hard for me to give
- 7:02specifics when it comes to that. The first thing that you really
- 7:06want to think about though is once you've set your budget, a
- 7:10way that can help you save money when it comes to the Disney
- 7:13theme parks is using Disney gift cards to help you budget.
- 7:19There are lots of different places that you can get
- 7:21discounted gift cards. You can get them through Target
- 7:24with your red card or circle card.
- 7:27I don't remember what they call it now.
- 7:28I feel like they just rebranded and changed the name but
- 7:32discount gift cards through Target.
- 7:35You can get them through Sam's Club if you have a membership.
- 7:37You can get them through Costco and BJ's if you have a
- 7:39membership as well. So a couple different places and
- 7:42they will run different deals throughout the year.
- 7:45Like I know that Sam's Club always runs like a Black Friday
- 7:49deal for theirs. Target a lot of the times with
- 7:52some of their Circle week deals that they'll run, they'll run a
- 7:56deal on like entertainment gift cards that you can keep an eye
- 7:59out to see if Disney is included in that as well.
- 8:02And those typically will run you anywhere from 5:00 to about 9 or
- 8:0610% off of the price of your Disney gift card.
- 8:10So that can come in handy because not only can you use
- 8:14Disney gift cards when you're down in the parks, but you can
- 8:17actually use them to pay pay for your your to pay for your stay.
- 8:23You can use them for your resort.
- 8:25You can use them to pay for tickets.
- 8:26You can use them for a ton of things.
- 8:28Now, a couple things about that. Number one, if you use a Disney
- 8:32gift card to book anything, tickets your, your resort, hold
- 8:38on to that gift card. Do not throw it away until after
- 8:42your trip when you've come back and you've spent all your money
- 8:46at the Disney parks. Because if you happen to need to
- 8:49change your reservation, you need to modify it, you have to
- 8:53cancel it. Any of those reasons, they're
- 8:56going to refund you on the method of payment that you use.
- 9:00So you want to make sure you still have that gift card in
- 9:02hand. Now, if you don't, there are
- 9:04ways that they can work with you to figure out another way to
- 9:08refund you that money, but you want to make sure that you hold
- 9:12on to that until after your trip.
- 9:14The other thing that you can do is you can actually combine
- 9:17smaller quantity gift cards online.
- 9:21So if you go to disneygiftcards.com, you can
- 9:25type your codes in there for your gift cards and actually
- 9:28combine them up to $1000 per gift card.
- 9:31So that can be a really convenient way to kind of keep
- 9:34track of that. I know a lot of people that
- 9:37talking about budgets and kind of setting yourself up to save
- 9:41ahead of time. I know a lot of people that
- 9:43maybe once a paycheck will go to Target and with their red card,
- 9:49they'll grab a $50 Disney card with for 5% off.
- 9:54And that's part of their budgeting because they just
- 9:57include that in their weekly or bi weekly or monthly purchases
- 10:01that they make. So that's definitely a really
- 10:03good way to start setting yourself up for a budget for
- 10:08your trip and then to also save some money while you're doing
- 10:11it. Because while 5% sounds really
- 10:13small, when you look at the amount off that 5% is off of
- 10:17tickets and resorts, it can be a really, really massive
- 10:21difference. So that is a really important
- 10:23thing to keep in mind when you're planning for for that
- 10:26budget and trying to save a couple dollars here and there.
- 10:30The other thing to really consider this early on is
- 10:33deciding how long you really think you want to stay.
- 10:36So let's talk about that and kind of what what may weigh in
- 10:42on those decisions that you make.
- 10:43Now, the one thing that I will stress that I think is so
- 10:48important and super helpful is actually using a travel agent to
- 10:53book. So travel agents should be
- 10:56completely free. If they're not free, find a
- 10:59different travel agent. But travel agents are free to
- 11:02use. They actually if they're booking
- 11:03a Disney trip for you or one of the other theme parks, they get
- 11:07paid by that company to book. So they are completely free.
- 11:11They are experts at finding these deals and they should know
- 11:16a ton about the resorts and all of those types of things.
- 11:20So you want to use a travel agent whenever it comes to
- 11:24booking your Disney trip. It's going to save you a
- 11:28headache and it's it's going to give you a ton of really good
- 11:30information right at your fingertips through them.
- 11:33So the other thing is checking the calendars for cheaper times
- 11:37if you have a flexible schedule. So Disney actually now on their,
- 11:42their website gives you an option when you're looking at
- 11:47ticket prices to like look at when the cheapest time frame is.
- 11:53So if you go on to the Disney site and you're looking for
- 11:57tickets, you can click, there's an option that says like find
- 12:00cheapest time or something like that.
- 12:02But typically speaking, January, February, as long as it's not a
- 12:06run Disney event or a holiday is a really good time to go when it
- 12:11comes to prices. And then also August, September
- 12:14is a really good time to go. Again, avoiding any sort of
- 12:17events and things like that, which can be a little tricky to
- 12:20do. You got to do a little bit of
- 12:21extra research looking into that.
- 12:22But those are going to be some of the best times to go if
- 12:25you're looking for cheapest day rates for your resorts and for
- 12:30your ticket prices as well. So all of those things can kind
- 12:34of play into deciding how long you want to stay and looking at
- 12:39what your your budget is going to be for overall for your trip
- 12:44to then start to figure out how much you can save doing these
- 12:48different options that I'm going to talk about in this episode
- 12:51today. So that all being said, the
- 12:55other thing to really consider for your trip is what parks you
- 12:58want to visit and what locations you want to go to.
- 13:03So we've talked recently more about different, different
- 13:10Orlando theme parks. We've started to branch out a
- 13:13little bit and talk about Universal, SeaWorld, Legoland,
- 13:17some of those a little bit. If you are planning a trip,
- 13:22considering another location might be something that you want
- 13:26to do to maybe still have a theme park day, but maybe save a
- 13:31couple dollars from having to go to Disney all the time versus
- 13:37maybe visiting one of these other ones.
- 13:39So just a quick overview of what the different theme parks in
- 13:45Orlando kind of compare. It's a little tricky because
- 13:51there's so many different ticket options at Disney and Universal
- 13:54especially, but even at SeaWorld and Legoland, they've got
- 13:57different package deals and things like that that you can
- 14:00look into as well. So all of these, again, you
- 14:03really have to look at dates and and things like that.
- 14:07So if you're looking at cost comparison for theme parks, the
- 14:12big two to compare are Disney and Universal, right?
- 14:15And looking at how much it costs to visit them for a day.
- 14:19So looking at the three day ticket option, just as kind of a
- 14:24basic comparison when it comes to the the Disney and Universal
- 14:30theme parks, a typical three day ticket at Disney is going to be
- 14:34around $500 per person. Again, these prices will change
- 14:40based on when you're going, how busy they expect it to be, is it
- 14:44peak season, is it slow season, all of that.
- 14:46But around 500 is what you're going to be looking at for a
- 14:49typical three day ticket to Disney.
- 14:52A three day ticket to Universal is closer to 400.
- 14:56So a little bit cheaper when it comes to Universal's cost.
- 15:00Currently at this moment, when I looked at these prices, I was
- 15:04looking like beginning of March of 2026, if that kind of gives
- 15:08you a ballpark. So it was like before the Super
- 15:12busy season, after the slow season, kind of maybe hopefully
- 15:16somewhere in between was what I was going for, but again, who
- 15:19knows. So around 500 for Disney, around
- 15:21400 for Universal. So if you can kind of do that
- 15:24quick math for how much per day that is.
- 15:27Now looking at SeaWorld and Legoland, SeaWorld a daily
- 15:31ticket ranges anywhere from 70 to 125.
- 15:35The busy easiest times and the most expensive times are going
- 15:37to be around the holidays at SeaWorld.
- 15:40So if you're looking at a holiday trip, you're going to
- 15:43find more expensive tickets around then.
- 15:46Now for Legoland, a daily ticket is anywhere from 54 to $89.00.
- 15:52Again, the holidays are going to be the more expensive times when
- 15:55it comes to Legoland as well. So SeaWorld and Legoland are
- 15:59definitely a lower cost option for a park day.
- 16:03If you still want to be able to go on rides, you still want to
- 16:06be in a theme park, you still want to have fun with your
- 16:08family, those are some options that you can look into.
- 16:11Disney and Universal are close in cost, but Disney is a little
- 16:14bit more expensive when it comes to tickets.
- 16:18Now, one more thing that I do want to just talk about with
- 16:20tickets is also something to consider when it comes to
- 16:23budgeting and if you're trying to save versus splurging and
- 16:27spending is the type of park ticket that you get.
- 16:31So Disney and Universal both offer a base ticket, what they
- 16:37consider like a basic base ticket and then a hopper ticket
- 16:41or a park to park ticket. So they both have these options.
- 16:44Your base ticket, your basic ticket is going to get you in
- 16:47one park per day. Your hopper option or park to
- 16:51park option at Universal is going to get you into more than
- 16:55one park per day. Now Disney a park hopper will
- 16:58give you access to all four of their theme parks.
- 17:02Some of them will also do water parks.
- 17:03That's another cost on as well. But you're most most of the time
- 17:07your hopper ticket is going to get you access to all four of
- 17:09the Disney theme parks. Universal, If you remember back
- 17:13when we did our Universal episode, we talked about
- 17:17Universal having 25 different ticket combination options since
- 17:23they opened Epic Universe. So you have to look and see
- 17:26because some of their park to park tickets will offer
- 17:30Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.
- 17:32Some of them will include Epic, some of them will include one
- 17:35day at Epic and a couple days at the other.
- 17:37So you need to kind of look around and see and shop around
- 17:40again. Travel agents are going to be
- 17:42your very best bet when it comes to that.
- 17:44Especially Universal tickets can be very confusing.
- 17:48So having someone you can chat with about that can be a massive
- 17:53help whenever it comes to booking for Universal tickets.
- 17:56But again, that being said, let's look at Disney versus
- 18:00Universal for that three day ticket.
- 18:02Again, Disney, we started around 500.
- 18:05You are going to add about $85 per person if you want to add a
- 18:10park hopper for that three day ticket for Universal.
- 18:17We started at 400, but you're going to add about $96 per
- 18:23person for that hopper ticket over at Universal.
- 18:27So in the end you're looking still a difference between the
- 18:32two, but it you know it it, it evens out in the end.
- 18:36Disney having four parks, Universal has three.
- 18:39Again, lots of different things to consider when it comes to
- 18:41that. But again, looking at low times
- 18:46when ticket prices start a little lower can help you save.
- 18:50And looking at do I really need a hopper ticket or can I get
- 18:54away with just doing 1 park per day can also save you a ton of
- 18:57money. Whenever it comes to booking
- 18:59your trip, the last thing with the tickets to consider is you
- 19:05really want to look at the dates.
- 19:08Once you've picked your dates for your trip, you really want
- 19:10to look at what date you want to start your ticket on because
- 19:14even day-to-day, sometimes those ticket prices can vary a lot.
- 19:18So keep that in mind. They have those price calendars
- 19:22on their websites readily available pretty far in advance
- 19:26for you to be able to look at the individual day ticket
- 19:29prices. So don't forget to look at that
- 19:32and and take a look before you officially pick your dates if
- 19:36you have the flexibility to do so.
- 19:39The other thing to keep in mind is that Disney is still offering
- 19:43the free water park admission entrance on check in day.
- 19:47If you're staying at a Disney resort.
- 19:49They have extended that into 2026.
- 19:51They haven't announced yet when that will end, but they have
- 19:56started to extend that into 2026.
- 19:58So something else to consider, you may be able to.
- 20:01To get that freebie which will save you money when it comes to
- 20:05your Disney trip overall. So that's kind of tickets in a
- 20:09nutshell. But let's talk about what else
- 20:10you can do before your trip to help you do Disney on a budget.
- 20:15One of the other things that I love to tell people to do is
- 20:19taking your kids when they're free.
- 20:23So kiddos that head to the Disney parks before they turn 3
- 20:27years old are free of charge. They do not have to have a
- 20:31ticket that you pay for for them.
- 20:33They're able to just join you on the rides that they are, you
- 20:37know, eligible to ride height wise and things like that.
- 20:41So that is one of the biggest ways to save some money when it
- 20:44comes to planning a Disney trip. We did take both of our kids for
- 20:49their first trip before they turned 3 because it was a
- 20:53significantly cheaper when we didn't have that extra ticket
- 20:56cost to use. So that is something to consider
- 21:00depending on your timing and if that's something that you're
- 21:03able to do. But that is a big way to save a
- 21:06little bit of money on some tickets when it comes to the
- 21:09Disney parks. Something else to consider is
- 21:13what type of resort you're going to be staying at.
- 21:16So there are so many options that you can look at to choose
- 21:21from. We just did an episode on our
- 21:24Mom St. top 10 Disney resorts for kids.
- 21:28So that is a great reference point if you're someone who is
- 21:31visiting and needs help looking at resorts.
- 21:33Not all of those are super budget friendly, so keep that in
- 21:37mind if you are looking for budget friendly, not everyone on
- 21:40that list is, but looking at the value category when it comes to
- 21:45Disney resorts is going to be your cheapest.
- 21:47So you can search and sort that way on your webs, on the
- 21:51website. Whenever you go to like price
- 21:54out your vacation and look at what your budget's going to be
- 21:58using, the value resorts category is going to be your
- 22:02cheapest options. At Disney, the value category
- 22:06includes all three of the All Star resorts, it includes Pop
- 22:08Century, and it includes Art of Animation with the catalyst that
- 22:12the family suites at Art of Animation are not really in that
- 22:15value price range. So it would just be Little
- 22:18Mermaid rooms, standard rooms at Art of Animation, plus the other
- 22:22ones that I mentioned. A couple things to consider
- 22:26because I know a lot of people also talk about staying off
- 22:30property at Disney or staying at a Disney Springs resort or a
- 22:35good Neighbor hotel. There are so many options.
- 22:38A couple things to consider considering whether or not
- 22:42breakfast is included Now at your Disney resorts, it's not.
- 22:46You're going to have to go to a food court or a quick service or
- 22:49a table service and pay for your breakfast.
- 22:51But on some of the resorts that you can stay at that are off
- 22:55property and not Disney owned but nearby, they may have
- 22:58breakfast included. Thinking about things like the
- 23:02the benefit of staying on property is that early park
- 23:05entry. So if you're not familiar with
- 23:07that, Disney does offer early park entry for all of their
- 23:10Disney resorts. You get 30 minutes of early
- 23:14entry, extra time in the morning.
- 23:16So you get to go into the park 30 minutes before anyone else
- 23:20who is staying off property at one of those other resorts or
- 23:24nearby at an Airbnb or wherever it may be.
- 23:26So that is a perk of being able to stay on Disney property.
- 23:33Transportation is another big one.
- 23:35And this is one of the reasons why a lot of people like to stay
- 23:39on Disney property is because then you have the ability to
- 23:42take Disney transportation anywhere else on property that
- 23:45you want to go. You don't have to rent a car,
- 23:47you don't have to Uber. You don't have to spend extra
- 23:50money talking about Disney on a budget.
- 23:53You don't have to spend that extra money to get where you
- 23:56need to go. You can use Disney
- 23:58transportation. It is completely free of charge
- 24:01to use the buses, the boats, the skyline, or the monorail.
- 24:05All of those options are completely free.
- 24:07So being able to do that maybe alone will help you look at the
- 24:12cost difference between off property and on property and
- 24:15help you save a little bit of money.
- 24:17Because even if you're staying at a resort that has Disney
- 24:21transportation that is included, a lot of those shuttles are not
- 24:26really great when it comes to timing.
- 24:30They maybe only have a few hours that they run.
- 24:33They maybe only have set pickup time is a couple times a day.
- 24:36So there's lots of different little details to look into when
- 24:40it comes to transportation from getting from your resort to the
- 24:44parks if you're staying off property.
- 24:46So some of those reasons are good things to look at when it
- 24:50comes to comparing off property cost versus on property cost and
- 24:57then determining like I said, whether or not you need a car or
- 24:59if you have a car, that may be a big factor for you as well when
- 25:03it comes to that because transportation is a big thing.
- 25:07Planning transportation from the airport to and from the parks,
- 25:11all of that is, is a big cost that you might want to look at.
- 25:14Now, if we're talking about transportation from the airport
- 25:18to the parks, looking at something like the Mears Connect
- 25:22shuttle is probably going to be one of your most cost effective
- 25:25means of transportation. Now that being said, depending
- 25:29on how many people are in your party, it may or may not be.
- 25:31So again, you've really got it when you're looking at your
- 25:34budget, sit down and look at these costs because if Mears is
- 25:37going to be $15 a person and you've got five people that are
- 25:43going to be traveling, you know, math that out.
- 25:46An Uber that fits 5 May be cheaper.
- 25:51You just really have to check and see.
- 25:53Uber costs can ebb and flow a little bit with with the how
- 25:59busy they are around the airport.
- 26:01Same with Lyft, you know all those types of things.
- 26:03There are tons of different car services you can look at.
- 26:05Those get on the more pricey end though.
- 26:07So I would really look and compare how much is it going to
- 26:10cost us to take something like the Mears Connect bus?
- 26:14And then what would it cost for us to do an Uber ride?
- 26:19Even if you're not at the airport, you can still look on
- 26:23the Uber and the Lyft app to see about how much approximately
- 26:27it's going to be to get you to and from wherever you're going
- 26:31for your resort. So again, those costs are
- 26:34something to consider when looking at trying to do it on
- 26:37the more cheap budget friendly aspect or for something like
- 26:41this, do you want to do it just quickly as possible, Right.
- 26:44Just get to the resort as fast as we can from the airport
- 26:48because if you're doing something like mirrors, you may
- 26:49have to wait. Let's be real, you likely will
- 26:52have to wait for other families and other guests that are also
- 26:57going to be taking that because it is more of a public transit
- 27:00option when it comes to getting the transportation from the
- 27:04airport. A couple other things to keep in
- 27:07mind before and as you're kind of planning your trip and
- 27:11thinking about what are ways that I can save some money,
- 27:15Don't be afraid to schedule a resort day to save some money on
- 27:20park tickets. So we talked about tickets just
- 27:23a little bit ago and we talked about the differences in cost
- 27:26and different parks and things like that.
- 27:28But also not being afraid to use your resort as a day that you
- 27:35don't necessarily have to book the parks can be a massive way
- 27:41to save some money. So what we like to do is we
- 27:45typically schedule at least one, if not 1 1/2 to 2 resort days on
- 27:50our trips because it still gives our kids a ton to do.
- 27:54They can go swimming, they can go to the arcade.
- 27:56There's so many things that these Disney resorts to do that
- 28:00you can easily spend an entire day just at your own resort and
- 28:05your kids and you will have plenty to do.
- 28:08So that is a really good way to kind of break up the week, save
- 28:12a little bit of extra money and still have some fun activities
- 28:16and things to do whenever it comes to being at Disney I'm.
- 28:19So that is something I always suggest not only for saving
- 28:24money, also for giving your your whole Group A break from being
- 28:28in the parks, because being in the parks too many days in a row
- 28:31can really take a toll on you. So being sure that you kind of
- 28:36break that up to give yourself some rest so you can sleep in.
- 28:39You're not having to get up early to to go early entry.
- 28:42You're not fireworks, you know, you can just relax and have a
- 28:45more low key relaxing day at your Disney resort and save some
- 28:49money in your budget that way. I'm a couple other things as
- 28:53well. You can before your trip also
- 28:55starting to purchase essentials months ahead to be able to watch
- 28:59for sales. This is another one that I
- 29:01always do because I think it's so helpful when it comes to some
- 29:07of these costs that you forget about beforehand.
- 29:10So when we're talking about Disney budget, we talked about
- 29:14the tickets, we talked about the the resort, we talked about
- 29:17maybe transportation and some of that kind of stuff.
- 29:20But there's a lot of essentials for a Disney trip that we don't
- 29:23always talk about when it comes to budgeting.
- 29:25We don't remember that you might have to buy some new outfits,
- 29:28new shoes, you you might have to buy some ponchos.
- 29:32You might have to buy a stroller cover for rain.
- 29:35You might have to buy, you know, all those little odds and ends
- 29:38things that you need for your Disney trip that you might
- 29:43forget to include in your initial budget that you're
- 29:47making for your trip. So starting to purchase things
- 29:50ahead of time and looking for those deals, looking for deals
- 29:55on Amazon Prime Days and Target Circle Week and just sales that
- 29:58they're running online on different websites, you know,
- 30:02back to school sales or you know, so.
- 30:06Many, many. Websites and retailers run deals
- 30:10for holidays and so many different sales that you can
- 30:14look for. You can plan your outfits ahead
- 30:17of time. Be with this to start to spread
- 30:20out those clothing purchases. If you're someone that likes to
- 30:23do the matching shirts or coordinating outfits or things
- 30:27like that, starting to kind of plan those well in advance so
- 30:31that you can spread out some of that purchasing can be really
- 30:35helpful for your budget. And if it's something you're
- 30:37purchasing directly from Disney, if it's a shirt, you know,
- 30:41Disney Store online does offer some family like coordinating
- 30:44shirts that you can get. You can use Disney gift cards
- 30:48for those. We talked about Disney gift
- 30:49cards earlier today. So things like that are really
- 30:52helpful. A couple kid.
- 30:55Items. To consider looking at ahead of
- 30:58time that will save you money in the long run are just little
- 31:03like trinkity gifts that you can get them ahead of time.
- 31:07So that way when you get to the parks might help them not ask
- 31:14for as many gifts in the gift stores when here in the park.
- 31:18So things like bubble wands that you can get online, glow sticks,
- 31:23little small toys that you can get, things that are fidgets,
- 31:29things that are magnets that you can stick to, things, all sorts
- 31:32of different little toys that they can have on the plane and
- 31:36the car in the parks, in a stroller.
- 31:40You guys that are our parents are used to traveling with
- 31:43little kids. You guys know exactly what I'm
- 31:45talking about. But any of that kind of stuff,
- 31:48purchasing those items ahead of time.
- 31:51So when you get to the parks, they're not all asking you for a
- 31:55$35 bubble wand because you've already got them one that you
- 31:58maybe only paid $5 for, but it's just as cool as that Disney one.
- 32:03It's still got Mickey and Minnie on it and it still makes bubbles
- 32:06happen. So things to consider beforehand
- 32:10purchasing to make sure that you can save a little bit of of
- 32:14money when it comes to that. Something else to consider ahead
- 32:17of time is your stroller. If you're someone who's going to
- 32:20need a stroller in your during your trip because you've got
- 32:24kiddos that need to have that accessible to them, really
- 32:29consider whether you want to bring your own or you want to
- 32:32rent now. There are so many different
- 32:35things to consider with this. First of all, if it is a brand
- 32:39new stroller, that's a. Really big.
- 32:43Risk of having it be damaged on the plane, having it be damaged
- 32:48in the park, having it get, you know, things get misplaced,
- 32:51things get stolen, unfortunately at all of the theme parks.
- 32:54So just something to consider. I tend to like to bring our
- 32:59strollers from home, but also any time I've brought my
- 33:05stroller from home, I knew that I had a backup at home that I
- 33:10could use if something happened to the one that I took it to the
- 33:13parks. So just really considering what
- 33:17stroller you want to take and whether or not you need to rent
- 33:21one now if you don't have a stroller backup at home renting.
- 33:28One may be a good. Idea because it may end up being
- 33:31cheaper than what you might have to pay for a new stroller if
- 33:35yours gets ruined when you're on your Disney trip.
- 33:37So again, just something to consider based on your needs,
- 33:42based on your budget, based on your comfortable comfortability
- 33:46level of renting versus taking your own.
- 33:50Now, if you do want to rent, I do just want to mention we do
- 33:54have an affiliate link for Kingdom Strollers in the link in
- 33:56our bio on our social media pages.
- 33:59So if you want to check them out, Kingdom Strollers is a
- 34:02fantastic company to rent your stroller from.
- 34:06So you can find the link to their website and our social
- 34:08media BIOS. Let's talk about.
- 34:11Magic Bands This is a big cost for a lot of families that are
- 34:16going, especially if you've got multiple children in your group.
- 34:20So are Magic Bands worth the price and worth putting into
- 34:25your Disney budget? I tend.
- 34:29To lean towards no here's why Disney now anymore you have.
- 34:36Full access to. Everything you need directly
- 34:38from your phone or your smartwatch, those to me are easy
- 34:44enough to use that if you are really trying to save money on
- 34:48your Disney trip, you don't need to purchase a magic band.
- 34:51As long as you've got a functioning digital wallet on
- 34:54your phone or your smartwatch or both, you do not need a magic
- 35:00band. Now, one thing I would consider
- 35:03is if you don't have, let's see, you're say you're not
- 35:06comfortable using a digital wallet and you want to use an
- 35:09actual physical card. I would grab like a lanyard or a
- 35:14badge reel or something to use for your card just to keep it
- 35:17more conveniently handy. Because having to pull it out of
- 35:23your bag, out of a wallet, those types of things is a little less
- 35:26convenient when it comes to scanning into the parks, when it
- 35:29comes to if you're using lightning lanes, all those types
- 35:31of things. So I would just consider that as
- 35:35maybe a purchase you want to make for at least one of the
- 35:38grown-ups in your group to have. Something that's.
- 35:42Easy access for those cards if that's your choice.
- 35:45But Magic Bands overall, I just, if you're really on a budget, I
- 35:50don't think they're worth it. So that is something that you
- 35:52can just opt out of. If you're staying at a Disney
- 35:55resort, that's going to save you 25 to 35 or $40 per person and
- 36:01that can be a massive expense depending on the size of your
- 36:03group. A couple other things to
- 36:06consider and how they will affect your budget.
- 36:09If we're talking about doing Disney on a budget, first one
- 36:13being the memory maker, this one.
- 36:16'S really hard. We've talked about Photo Pass
- 36:18before here on Mom St. and I love the Photo Pass cast
- 36:22members. I love the ability to have them
- 36:25take your photo. But here's the deal if you are.
- 36:29On a very. Strict budget and you are trying
- 36:32to make your money go absolutely as far as you possibly can.
- 36:36When it comes to Disney, I do not think you need to buy the
- 36:40memory maker because nine times out of 10, there's going to be a
- 36:46cast member available nearby to take a photo for you on your own
- 36:50device. If you're going to visit a
- 36:52character or you're going to a photo pass spot, those
- 36:55photographer's will use your device.
- 36:57You just have to ask them kindly.
- 36:59Would you please take a photo on my phone?
- 37:02They are more than happy to do so.
- 37:04So do you need the memory maker? No.
- 37:07If you're on a budget at Disney, I do not think it's something
- 37:10that you need. Do I think it's a great product
- 37:13to have if your budget allows? Absolutely.
- 37:17Because then you don't have to have this added stress of
- 37:20where's my device, your camera versus my camera?
- 37:24All of that can be a little stressful sometimes if you're,
- 37:29you know, trying to herd the cats while you're in the Disney
- 37:33parks and your children are running around like chickens
- 37:36with their heads cut off, you may want the, the ease of that.
- 37:40So it really depends on your, your budget.
- 37:43That Memory Maker runs anywhere from about 170 to 200 and that's
- 37:47good for the length of your trip and only one person needs to
- 37:50purchase it. So it just depends on if you're
- 37:53willing and able to spend an extra $200 on that when it comes
- 37:57to your Disney trip. I've done a ton of Disney trips
- 37:59without Memory Maker and still gotten some fantastic photos
- 38:03from our trip. So keep that in mind as well
- 38:05when you're looking at your budget.
- 38:08Something else that you will find as you are booking your
- 38:10trip and looking at your budget is the Disney Dining Plan.
- 38:14Now sometimes you can get lucky and you can find that this
- 38:19dining plan is included in your resort stay.
- 38:23They do run promotions for this. A lot of the times it's during
- 38:26like early summer time, but there are other times a year
- 38:30that they also will run it as well.
- 38:33But this is something to consider depending on your
- 38:37eating preferences for your group.
- 38:40If you are someone that you like to eat at a lot of table
- 38:43service, you like to eat a lot at quick service, you like to
- 38:47have sit down meals, this may be a really good thing to look at.
- 38:52If it's not free or included, I don't know that it's the most
- 38:58cost effective. Let me let me let me take that
- 39:00back. It is not the most cost
- 39:02effective way to eat at Disney. If it's included and it's free,
- 39:07you can absolutely take advantage of that.
- 39:09If it's not, I do not think on a, on a budget, visiting Disney
- 39:14and using the Disney Dining Plan is a good way to use your money
- 39:18because what you pay versus what you'll have to eat to get your
- 39:24money back is way more than you think.
- 39:27Most of the time. I cannot tell you how many times
- 39:30I see on, you know, social media, Facebook groups, people
- 39:35saying I have all these extra credits left off of my dining
- 39:38plan that I didn't use. So like, that's just money that
- 39:42is instead of being utilized towards things in in the parks
- 39:46is just being given to Disney and you're not getting anything
- 39:48back. So really look at that dining
- 39:51plan. I really only suggest that if
- 39:53you're on a budget when it's included.
- 39:56If it's not included, I I don't necessarily suggest purchasing
- 40:00that for your trip unless you know for a fact that that's how
- 40:04you want to eat. But we're going to talk a little
- 40:06bit more about food a little bit later when we jump to what you
- 40:10can do during your trip. So put a pin in that and hang on
- 40:13to that thought here. But let's talk about a few more
- 40:17things. To look at before your trip, a
- 40:22couple more notes on food before we get to the during your trip
- 40:27option with food. Do keep in mind if you are on a
- 40:30budget when you're visiting Disney and you want to do sit
- 40:33down restaurants, it is definitely feasible.
- 40:36If you are, you know, even if you are on a restricted budget,
- 40:40you just really need to look at the prices on menus, look at how
- 40:45much the food is going to cost. Is it prefix or is it, you know,
- 40:49per entree pricing? And then consider buffets
- 40:52because I feel like buffets, a lot of the times you can get
- 40:55more money's worth and more food that you know for sure you want
- 41:00to eat, especially when you're traveling with kids.
- 41:02If you've got kiddos that maybe are more particular in their
- 41:06food options, something to consider as well.
- 41:10Let's talk about my favorite topic to consider before your
- 41:14trip, Lightning lanes. Now we've talked about lightning
- 41:17lanes. We've done in depth overviews
- 41:20and deep dives on how to use the lightning lanes and what they
- 41:23are and and how much they cost and all that kind of stuff.
- 41:26So if you hop back a few episodes, I just did a refresher
- 41:29on Disney Lightning lanes not that long ago for multi pass and
- 41:33single pass rides. But looking at our budget, do we
- 41:38need Lightning lanes? This is a very specific question
- 41:44depending on what parks you're going to, when you're going, and
- 41:50what rides your group wants to do.
- 41:53Those are the the top three questions that I ask anybody who
- 41:57needs my help with Lightning Lanes.
- 41:59That's where we start because the answer to those will help
- 42:03dictate whether or not you need to purchase Lightning Lanes for
- 42:07your trip. So let's talk about the Disney
- 42:10Parks again. Some of this can also transfer.
- 42:14To universal. But their Express Pass is vastly
- 42:18more expensive than the Disney Lightning Lanes are.
- 42:21So again, when you're on a budget, probably not.
- 42:24But let's talk about Lightning lanes at Disney for the
- 42:29different parks. Here's kind of my general rule
- 42:32of thumb when it comes to purchasing Lightning Lanes for
- 42:35Magic Kingdom. They can be super helpful and I
- 42:39would definitely suggest if you're able to find a little bit
- 42:43of wiggle room in your budget, purchasing the single passes for
- 42:46Tron and Seven Doors Mine train. If you purchase those two, you
- 42:51probably don't need multi pass. You can probably get by without,
- 42:55but those, that would be my suggestion for Magic Kingdom.
- 42:58Again, blanket suggestion depending on the rides.
- 43:01If you're not a thrill ride person, you probably don't need
- 43:03those rides right at Epcot. If you use early park entry
- 43:08correctly, you probably don't need lightning lanes, but you
- 43:12definitely want to get a single pass for guarding to the Galaxy
- 43:17Cosmic Rewind because it will have a very long wait and then
- 43:20you can utilize single rider lines there as as well if you're
- 43:23able to. If you're in a group that is
- 43:26eligible to do that, Ratatouille, Remy's Ratatouille
- 43:31Adventure and France has a single rider line and the test
- 43:35track has a single rider line. So those are really great
- 43:37options as well. At Animal Kingdom.
- 43:41Most days you're not going to need lightning lanes at Animal
- 43:45Kingdom unless you're visiting during like Christmas week,
- 43:48might want to get them then. But generally Speaking of the
- 43:51Animal Kingdom currently as it sits you, you do not need
- 43:55lightning lanes. I would get a single pass for
- 43:57flight of passage and that would be the most cost effective way
- 44:02to kind of utilize lightning lanes at that park.
- 44:05And then as far as Hollywood Studios goes, it is a giant
- 44:08pain. There are so many rides there
- 44:11that are really hard to get on. I do suggest utilizing multi
- 44:15pass there. It's really hard to book.
- 44:19It's not a super fun park to navigate with lightning lanes,
- 44:22but I do think having them is extremely helpful at Hollywood
- 44:26studios. So overall, single passes are
- 44:30almost always a really good idea if you're able to have at least
- 44:33a little bit of money in a budget to utilize lightning
- 44:36lanes for rides multi pass for. Sure, at Hollywood.
- 44:42Studios also very helpful at Magic Kingdom if you're able to.
- 44:46But again, all of that depends on what time of year, what rides
- 44:50you want to book and what parks. So again, those are kind of my
- 44:55blanket suggestions, but it is not a one-size-fits-all when it
- 44:58comes to Lightning Lanes because it is so dependent on your trip,
- 45:02your group, and what rides you want to do, all of those good
- 45:05things. So that is kind of my overview
- 45:10of what to do to help save money, an what to consider for
- 45:15your budget when it comes to before your Disney trip.
- 45:19But let's talk about things that you can do during your.
- 45:24Disney trip. To help stay on a budget and to
- 45:28help save money, to help your budget be happy whenever it
- 45:33comes to visiting the Disney parks.
- 45:35So during your Disney trip, there are several things that
- 45:38you can do that will help your budget stay where it needs to
- 45:42be. First thing that you can do, and
- 45:44this is a little bit before but also kind of during, is ordering
- 45:48groceries. So this is something that we are
- 45:50huge fans of in my family and it helps us save a ton of money
- 45:55because let's face it, theme park food is expensive.
- 46:00And unfortunately, like I mentioned the beginning of this
- 46:03podcast episode, Disney has been starting to raise some of its
- 46:07prices even without that price increase.
- 46:14It's still expensive theme. Park food is expensive, So what
- 46:17we tend to do is we will either order groceries or if we've got
- 46:21a car, we'll go and pick them up.
- 46:23So that way we can eat breakfast in our room or grab something in
- 46:27the morning. Granola bar, protein bar, those
- 46:29types of things. We will pack our lunches.
- 46:33So Disney does allow for you to take in food from the outside
- 46:39into their theme parks. So we always pack our lunches to
- 46:43take into the parks because it saves us so much money, even
- 46:47just as a family of four. And then?
- 46:49We also will. Pack snacks for the afternoon.
- 46:51That way we're not tempted to buy as many things in the park
- 46:54and we can get some snacks that will last well in our park bags
- 46:59and will be way more cost efficient and cost effective for
- 47:01us as a family than purchasing things in the parks.
- 47:05We do typically eat dinner in the parks because you can only
- 47:11eat so many, you know, sandwiches throughout a week.
- 47:14So we do typically do dinner in the parks and we'll do like a
- 47:18quick service restaurant for dinners, but that means we're
- 47:21only purchasing one meal per day at that inflated Disney price.
- 47:26So having snacks and things like that are, are a massive, massive
- 47:31way to save a ton of money. And This is why I was mentioning
- 47:34earlier that the dining plan is almost never worth it if you're
- 47:38paying for it. If it's included for free,
- 47:41different story. But if you're paying for that
- 47:44dining plan, it's almost never worth the cost because you can
- 47:49very easily save a ton of money just by ordering some groceries
- 47:53to your room or running to pick them up.
- 47:56Another. Way as far as eating goes,
- 48:01making smart choices when it comes to eating by using quick
- 48:05service restaurants instead of sit down table restaurants that
- 48:08are going to have a cheaper cost per person for the quick
- 48:11service. So table service you're going to
- 48:14see anywhere. From probably.
- 48:17Starting around $35 per adult, whereas quick service, you can
- 48:21find things that are significantly cheaper than that.
- 48:24You're going to be looking at 15 to 18 per adult maybe depending
- 48:30again on what you're ordering, where you're going.
- 48:33Lots of prices vary, so you can always look up all of those
- 48:36things online in the apps or on the websites to get an idea, but
- 48:42quick service are going to be your best option when it comes
- 48:45to trying to eat on a budget at Disney.
- 48:50Sharing meals is a really good thing.
- 48:52A lot of the times when you're in that Florida heat, you don't
- 48:55need a full meal all on your own.
- 48:58So having someone that you can share with, sharing with your
- 49:02kids will do that a lot. Or sometimes my husband and I
- 49:05will split meals. It just depends on how hungry we
- 49:08are and what we're getting and where we're going, things like
- 49:10that. But also ordering kids meals.
- 49:13This is something that I'm a huge advocate of because that
- 49:16you can find a lot of really good kids meals.
- 49:18It's not just only, you know, chicken fingers and Mac and
- 49:21cheese everywhere. Now don't get me wrong, there
- 49:23are a lot of chicken fingers and Mac and cheese which I will
- 49:26happily order off of the kids menu, but there are a ton of
- 49:29other options for kids menus as well.
- 49:32Those are going to be a lot cheaper of an option and they're
- 49:35still going to have a good amount of food.
- 49:36Some of these kids meals get as much as the adult meals, so just
- 49:44keep that in mind. Take a look around, make sure
- 49:47you're not missing out on a cheaper alternative, especially
- 49:50if you're someone that doesn't eat a ton or wants to split
- 49:54something. You can look at those options as
- 49:56well and that will definitely help you save some money.
- 50:00Now, if you're also looking at the best way to save some money
- 50:03for snacks in the parks, a couple things to consider.
- 50:06The big one is the refillable popcorn bucket.
- 50:09So it looks like a kind of large price point outright.
- 50:14You can find some popcorn buckets around $25.
- 50:18Some of them go upwards of 40 if they're more specialized or
- 50:21more, but the basic version you're going to be able to find
- 50:24for around $25. This is one of the most cost
- 50:29effective snacks in the parks because after that your refill
- 50:34price is $2.50. So that is going.
- 50:39To save you a ton when you can, after you've purchased the
- 50:43initial popcorn bucket, you can go back to any of the kiosks for
- 50:47the remainder of your stay and get a refill for that
- 50:50significantly cheaper cost. So that is my biggest suggestion
- 50:55when it comes to park snacks is to do a popcorn bucket, have a
- 50:59refillable 1. And the nice thing is then you
- 51:02can take it back with you and you have this fun little
- 51:05souvenir but you get to take home with you and you can use it
- 51:08on future trips as well. Another thing just to consider,
- 51:12and I feel like this is a given, but I do just want to mention it
- 51:16as far as saving money, is making sure you have a reusable
- 51:19water bottle with you, especially during the hot
- 51:23months. Now, if you're visiting during
- 51:24the winter when it's not quite as vital, you still got to drink
- 51:29your water, you got to stay hydrated, but it's a little bit
- 51:31easier to just grab a cup of water at a quick service
- 51:35restaurant. You may or may not need a big
- 51:39giant reusable water bottle, but if you are someone that is going
- 51:44to be visiting during the summer, make sure you have your
- 51:47own water bottle with you. Because otherwise you're going
- 51:50to be paying, gosh, $5 for a bottle of Dasani water.
- 51:54And you're going to be doing that for every person in your
- 51:58group. So if that were me, I'd be
- 52:00spending $20 a day just on water at minimum.
- 52:04You don't want to do that. Make sure you have your own
- 52:07water bottle. I love the Owala brand
- 52:10personally, but again there are tons of really great water
- 52:13bottles out there. Make sure you have a reusable
- 52:15one with you so that way you are not caught having to buy water
- 52:19in the parks. Also remember quick service
- 52:22restaurants will give you free cups of water anytime, any
- 52:25anywhere, any quick service that you go to.
- 52:28That being said, if you're someone that doesn't love water
- 52:34and doesn't like to just drink plain water, bringing your own
- 52:37flavor packets instead of purchasing juices and Gatorades
- 52:41can be another really big way to say stay on budget.
- 52:45You want to do a little bit of comparing to see though the cost
- 52:50of like a liquid IV packet versus the cost of a Gatorade
- 52:55packet versus, you know, those types of things.
- 52:58But generally speaking, flavor packets for flavoring your water
- 53:01is going to be significantly cheaper than purchasing a
- 53:04Gatorade or a soda or a whatever at the parks.
- 53:08So that is definitely the way to go when it comes to wanting
- 53:12something else to drink if you're not a water person.
- 53:16The other thing while you are there is one of the hardest
- 53:20things when it comes to budgeting is trying your best to
- 53:24limit your souvenir purchases. I am so guilty of overspending
- 53:30my budget because I found these cute souvenirs.
- 53:32I found this new set of ears, I found this new shirt, or my kid
- 53:37wants this new toy. But really, being strict on your
- 53:41souvenir budget is another massive way to save you money
- 53:44because Disney merchandise is expensive.
- 53:48Ears are $35 at a minimum. If you want a sweatshirt, you're
- 53:52looking at at least 50 to $60.00.
- 53:55Spirit jerseys are $80, lounge fly backpacks, backpacks are
- 54:00$90.00. So it adds up so quickly.
- 54:05So doing your best to stay on a budget and stick to that budget
- 54:10is really hard, but I have faith that you can do it.
- 54:13This is where your Disney gift cards will play a massive role.
- 54:17And this is something that we do with our kids.
- 54:19We give them a gift card as a set amount on it and once you
- 54:24spend it, it's done. So think about maybe giving
- 54:28yourself a budget on a gift card to help you stay in line.
- 54:32So that way you know, Nope, when my gift card money is done, I am
- 54:36done with my souvenirs for this trip.
- 54:39Again, I know it is so hard to do, but if you're on a budget,
- 54:45that is my best suggestion when it comes to merchandise and
- 54:49souvenir shopping. And then as far as like what
- 54:53souvenirs to get, you can find things for under 10 or $15.
- 54:58It's not a ton, but you can find it in the Disney parks.
- 55:04You just have to know what you're looking for.
- 55:05So do some research on what you want so you're not kind of
- 55:09sticker shocked when it comes to looking at prices for some of
- 55:12the merchandise that you may be wanting.
- 55:15Now those are kind of my basic during your trip checks budget
- 55:22tips. Let's just give an example of
- 55:27what a trip may look like, just so you guys kind of have a
- 55:31ballpark budget on the low end. Because I feel like when you are
- 55:38visiting the parks and trying to plan a trip, if you've never
- 55:42gone before or it's been a long time since you've gone or you
- 55:46know you've been with your parents, but now you're an adult
- 55:49and you want to try to go on your own, it's hard to know
- 55:52where to start aside from contacting a travel agent.
- 55:55Well, let's look at a couple trip examples just to give you
- 55:59kind of the low end basic budget for room and tickets.
- 56:05Again, this is not going to include transportation and all
- 56:08the odds and ends little things that you need to buy.
- 56:10However, if you want to go to Disney, let's say you want 4
- 56:15park days. You want to do 1 park per day,
- 56:19so 5 total days and you're. A family of four.
- 56:24And you're staying in a value resort.
- 56:26That's kind of the base level trip that I would suggest.
- 56:31Again, you can get into how many days you want to go, how many
- 56:34days you have. Do you do hoppers?
- 56:36Do you do non hoppers? I suggest base tickets just
- 56:39because I think that it's more cost effective to extend your
- 56:43trip a few days and do a base ticket than it is to try to cram
- 56:46it all in with park hoppers. That's my personal opinion when
- 56:49it comes to that. So a four day base ticket plus 5
- 56:55total days of a trip for a family of four at All Star
- 56:59Sports, which is one of those value resorts that is the low
- 57:02end of the cost comparison. Again, these prices were like
- 57:07beginning of March prices. So kind of hopefully somewhere
- 57:11in the middle, but you're going to be looking around $3860 for
- 57:18that trip. So that is kind of base level
- 57:22where you're going to want to start.
- 57:24When it comes to doing Disney on a budget and trying to stay and
- 57:29go as cheaply as possible, you're still going to be looking
- 57:32at just under $4000 for a family of four.
- 57:36So kind of ballpark that is at least what you need to know you
- 57:41can spend to make the most of your time.
- 57:45Now a similar trip at Universal, again, just for cost comparison.
- 57:50I know a lot of people mix and match their trip.
- 57:52Some people do 2 days at Disney, 2 days at Universal.
- 57:55Lots of different options. Talk to a travel agent please or
- 57:59if you need help send me an e-mail momstusa@gmail.com.
- 58:04But as similar trip at Universal, if you're going to be
- 58:06doing 4 park days now with Universal, they don't
- 58:10necessarily offer a base ticket with their packages on their
- 58:14website. It may be available if you book
- 58:16through a travel agent. I don't know 100% if I'm being
- 58:19completely honest, but so this is a four park day, but it is
- 58:23park to park because that is what they offer with their
- 58:25package deals. 5 total days. A family of four at Cabana Bay,
- 58:29which is one of their low end resort there you're looking at
- 58:33$3095.00. So still in that 3000 range, but
- 58:39less than your Disney for a similar length trip at a similar
- 58:43resort. Something to consider.
- 58:45So again, looking at where you want to go, how many days, what
- 58:51is my budget that I'm going to be looking at, those are things
- 58:54all to consider and considering whether or not Universal is
- 58:58something that appeals to you or SeaWorld appeals to your
- 59:01Legoland any of those that we talked about earlier in this
- 59:03episode is something to consider.
- 59:05So again, that just kind of gives you a general price point
- 59:10to kind of start with. So if you are you're trying to
- 59:14decide whether or not you have it in your budget to be able to
- 59:17go or you know want to start setting money aside now so you
- 59:21can book in a year or two. That 4000 is really a really
- 59:27good benchmark when it comes to that.
- 59:29If you have a family of four, now, if you're just on your own,
- 59:33you have to think that through as well.
- 59:36But for a fit, a standard family of four, if you will, around
- 59:41that 3 to 4000 mark is what you're going to be wanting to
- 59:44look at for your Disney budget. OK, Hopefully you got some
- 59:48helpful tips and tricks throughout today's episode.
- 59:52Again, these were just kind of some overviews of different
- 59:55things that you can consider, different things you can do if
- 59:58you're someone that's like, I need more help than this.
- 1:00:01Send us a message. We over here at Mom Street are
- 1:00:04happy to help and happy to help you brainstorm and look at
- 1:00:08different options and things like that.
- 1:00:10I am not a travel agent but I love to help people look through
- 1:00:14and plan their trips out. We do have partner travel agents
- 1:00:18with our good friends over at Tripp and Co.
- 1:00:20So if you would need someone, head over to their website and
- 1:00:23take a look at the different affiliates that they have over
- 1:00:26there because they do have some travel agents that are more than
- 1:00:30willing to help you when it comes to pricing out vacations
- 1:00:34and things like that. Again, travel agents should be
- 1:00:36free. Don't use a travel agent if
- 1:00:38they're going to cost you any extra for their services.
- 1:00:42But I hope that all of this was helpful to get your gears
- 1:00:45turning when it comes to doing Disney on a budget.
