- 0:00Speaker 1: Looney Tunes is coming to the big screen. Rate the
- 0:03Speaker 1: flick with Ben O'Shea. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Oh,
- 0:11Speaker 1: I have high hopes. I used to love this cartoon.
- 0:15Speaker 1: And the premise of Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner is just,
- 0:18Speaker 1: it's so hilarious. Basically, the coyote, you know, sort of
- 0:22Speaker 1: lives in sort of the, you know, And he's just
- 0:26Speaker 1: desperate to catch the roadrunner who just meep, meep. He's very,
- 0:29Speaker 1: very fast. Can I just ask? Yeah. Since when is
- 0:31Speaker 1: it beep, beep? No, meep, meep. It was always meep, meep. Yeah, meep, meep.
- 0:34Speaker 1: There's a huge debate going on. No, it's meep, meep. Well,
- 0:37Speaker 1: he holds up a sign in it that says beep, beep.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I don't remember that. Anyway. They're dumbing it down again. Yeah, exactly. It's,
- 0:43Speaker 1: you know, it's just, what is going on? I'm staying
- 0:45Speaker 1: with meep, meep. Gen Z kids, Gen Alpha kids. It's
- 0:48Speaker 1: nothing real anymore. Can you not look it up? Yeah,
- 0:51Speaker 1: look it up. And so he uses these products that
- 0:54Speaker 1: he buys from the Acme Corporation, rocket powered roller skates,
- 0:58Speaker 1: a giant magnet and feeds the roadrunner ball bearings in
- 1:02Speaker 1: bird seed. And every single time these products backfire and
- 1:06Speaker 1: it always backfires on Wile E. Coyote and he gets
- 1:09Speaker 1: blown up, dropped off a cliff, a boulder lands on him,
- 1:12Speaker 1: various types of injuries. And so the premise of this
- 1:15Speaker 1: film is so perfect that eventually he has one of
- 1:18Speaker 1: these epic stacks in front of a billboard for a
- 1:21Speaker 1: personal injury lawyer. And he goes, he thinks to himself,
- 1:24Speaker 1: stuff this. I'm going to sue the Acme Corporation. It's
- 1:28Speaker 1: about time. It's so good. And as an idea for
- 1:32Speaker 1: a film, it's so perfect. And Will Forte from Last
- 1:35Speaker 1: Man on Earth and MacGruber and a bunch of other
- 1:37Speaker 1: stuff is this kind of like disheveled, down on his luck,
- 1:42Speaker 1: personal injury lawyer, like a real ambulance chaser. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Who all he cares about is getting like... Yeah, a
- 1:47Speaker 1: Lionel Hutz, totally. More of a putz than a Lionel Hutz.
- 1:51Speaker 1: And all he, in his kind of very low motivated state,
- 1:55Speaker 1: just wants small cash settlements for his clients because then
- 1:57Speaker 1: he'll never have to go to court. The huge Acme
- 1:59Speaker 1: Corporation will just pay $ 200 and not even... They'll just
- 2:02Speaker 1: cut the check and not even think twice. But Wile E.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Coyote refuses to take the small payout. He wants to
- 2:08Speaker 1: go to court. He wants justice, which puts them on
- 2:11Speaker 1: a collision course with the Acme Corporation's chief counsel, played
- 2:16Speaker 1: by John Cena. If you can imagine anybody playing a
- 2:20Speaker 1: high-powered lawyer in a three-piece suit, John Cena is not
- 2:23Speaker 1: that guy. Not really. So straight away, that is hilarious.
- 2:25Speaker 1: He leans into it. He's even more cartoonish than the
- 2:28Speaker 1: CEO of the Acme Corporation, Foghorn Leghorn. I say, boy,
- 2:34Speaker 1: I say. That's what he's saying to John Cena. Yeah.
- 2:38Speaker 1: And so it's so hilarious. And for people who have
- 2:41Speaker 1: a certain vintage, like the three of us, you remember
- 2:44Speaker 1: Jessica Rabbit and you remember Who Framed Roger Rabbit from
- 2:47Speaker 1: back in the day. So the great Bob Hoskin, RIP,
- 2:50Speaker 1: had Jessica Rabbit in that film. Will Forte gets Wile E. Coyote.
- 2:54Speaker 1: So he's maybe not as lucky, let's be honest. But
- 2:56Speaker 1: this film almost never saw the light of day. It's been, yeah.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Warner Brothers tried to shelve it indefinitely for a $ 30
- 3:02Speaker 1: million tax credit. There was a huge outcry in Hollywood.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Directors and actors refused to work with Warner Brothers unless
- 3:08Speaker 1: they sold it to another distributor. Eventually that happened. And
- 3:11Speaker 1: so now it's finally being seen. And just as a,
- 3:13Speaker 1: you know, middle finger to Warner Brothers, the film has
- 3:16Speaker 1: already made $ 66 million worldwide. So... Wow. So people are
- 3:20Speaker 1: getting behind it. And, of course, you've got all the
- 3:22Speaker 1: other Looney Tunes. You've got Bugs Bunny. Eric Bowser, who
- 3:25Speaker 1: does the voice of all the Looney Tunes, he's there
- 3:26Speaker 1: doing that. You've got Daffy in a hilarious cameo. Elmer Fudd.
- 3:31Speaker 1: All of these. Tweety. You've got them all in there.
- 3:33Speaker 1: And the premise is great as well. So this is
- 3:35Speaker 1: a film that the kids will like. The adults will
- 3:38Speaker 1: totally dig the premise because it certainly hits all the
- 3:41Speaker 1: right buttons. It's a legit legal drama. Legit. All right.
- 3:46Speaker 1: How many meep meeps are you giving it? Three and
- 3:50Speaker 1: a half. Meep meep. Meep meep. Three and a half.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Three and a half. Good fun. Great fun. Wow. Okay.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I'm glad because I was really worried that you were
- 3:59Speaker 1: going to shoot this one down. Excellent. Good news. Thanks, guys.
- 4:03Speaker 1: All right. We'll send you away to see another one
- 4:05Speaker 1: and you can come back again next week and play again.
