- 0:00Speaker 1: I just want to say I want to thank the
- 0:02Speaker 1: Prime Minister and the Prime Minister, Greenland, Denmark, and we're
- 0:06Speaker 1: going to have a tremendous relationship, a secure relationship, and
- 0:10Speaker 1: we look forward to it. We'll be working very hard
- 0:13Speaker 1: and very much in conjunction with each other. Almost every
- 0:16Speaker 1: president at least mentioned it, but most of them just
- 0:19Speaker 1: mentioned it. Some really wanted to make a deal and
- 0:23Speaker 1: never got done, but we're getting it done. So this
- 0:26Speaker 1: is tremendous for Europe and for the United States and
- 0:29Speaker 1: for everybody and for Greenland is going to be incredible.
- 0:32Speaker 2: You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Good Wednesday morning. Nice to have you with us on
- 0:37Speaker 3: the 47 Morning Update. And we've got two very big
- 0:40Speaker 3: stories for you. First up, the president of the United
- 0:43Speaker 3: States of America, Donald Trump, went to the U.N. General
- 0:45Speaker 3: Assembly in New York. And my, oh, my, did he
- 0:48Speaker 3: have a lot to say. He also had some warnings
- 0:50Speaker 3: for Iran and China. We break it all down for
- 0:54Speaker 3: you so you know exactly what he said and what
- 0:57Speaker 3: is happening because of it. Also, the president is now
- 1:00Speaker 3: being asked and pushed by many to do something that
- 1:04Speaker 3: we have not seen in quite some time. That is
- 1:07Speaker 3: limit diesel fuel from actually being exported from the United
- 1:10Speaker 3: States of America. So what would that do for the
- 1:13Speaker 3: price of the pump? We have that for you as well.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Before we get to that, though. The stakes couldn't be higher.
- 1:20Speaker 3: And we finally have a president and administration fighting for
- 1:23Speaker 3: America first. But if conservatives lose focus, the same people
- 1:27Speaker 3: who created this mess, well, they're ready to bring back
- 1:30Speaker 3: their progressive agenda. Now, protecting our rights and freedoms takes
- 1:33Speaker 3: all of us staying in the fight. And that's why
- 1:36Speaker 3: more people I know are switching, just like I did,
- 1:39Speaker 3: to Patriot Mobile. because they're America's only Christian conservative wireless provider.
- 1:44Speaker 3: You get premium priority nationwide service on all three major U.S.
- 1:48Speaker 4: Networks.
- 1:49Speaker 3: You get unlimited data plans, mobile hotspots, international roaming, and 100%
- 1:53Speaker 3: U.S.-based customer support. Now, you can switch in minutes and
- 1:57Speaker 3: keep your phone and number. And unlike other carriers, Patriot
- 2:01Speaker 3: Mobile puts your money towards defending faith, family, and freedom
- 2:05Speaker 3: by contributing millions of dollars each year to organizations that
- 2:10Speaker 3: are fighting for our God-given rights and the rights of
- 2:12Speaker 3: unborn children, as well as our military and our veterans. Now,
- 2:16Speaker 3: Patriot Mobile isn't just talking about saving America. They're literally
- 2:20Speaker 3: putting their entire business behind that fight. So make the
- 2:24Speaker 3: switch and join the movement today. Go to patriot mobile.com
- 2:28Speaker 3: slash Ben 47 or call nine seven to Patriot. Use
- 2:34Speaker 3: the promo code Ben 47 and you'll get a free

- 2:41Speaker 3: Patriot mobile.com slash Ben 47 or nine seven to Patriot
- 2:45Speaker 3: and make that switch today.
- 2:47Speaker 4: It's the 47 Morning Update and it starts right now.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Story number one.
- 2:51Speaker 3: President Donald Trump walked into the United Nations and delivered
- 2:54Speaker 3: a message that was unmistakably Trump. America is going to
- 2:59Speaker 3: use its power. America is going to protect its interests.
- 3:02Speaker 3: And the president says he is willing to act when
- 3:05Speaker 3: diplomacy fails. In other words, Donald Trump took the America
- 3:09Speaker 3: first message to the world. Now, this is not simply
- 3:13Speaker 3: a speech about one war or one country. It was
- 3:15Speaker 3: essentially Trump laying out his view of America's place in
- 3:19Speaker 3: the world. And the theme running through virtually everything he
- 3:23Speaker 3: said was this. While others have talked, I've acted. While
- 3:27Speaker 3: others have spoken of peace, I have made peace. Now,
- 3:31Speaker 3: Trump began by talking about America itself, arguing that the
- 3:35Speaker 3: country is stronger economically and technologically and highlighted the private
- 3:39Speaker 3: sector job growth, lower illegal immigration rates and declining crime.
- 3:44Speaker 4: As the president walked out on stage, he started with this.
- 3:47Speaker 1: It's my great honor to welcome the world to America
- 3:50Speaker 1: as we celebrate 250 years of glorious freedom and independence.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Two and a half centuries after the cause of liberty
- 3:59Speaker 1: found its home on this continent, I can report to
- 4:03Speaker 1: you with pride that America is back and our country
- 4:08Speaker 1: is stronger today than ever before. Our economy is the
- 4:14Speaker 1: envy of the world. Our military is the most powerful
- 4:17Speaker 1: on Earth. Our technology is second to none, and we
- 4:20Speaker 1: are leading in virtually everything. Our energy is fueling the planet.
- 4:26Speaker 1: America is rising. Our nation is growing. Our power is expanding.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Our country is doing better than ever before. And our
- 4:35Speaker 1: future is very, very bright.
- 4:37Speaker 3: As the AP put it, they said, quote, Donald Trump's
- 4:40Speaker 3: message was America's back. America's strong and America's strength gives
- 4:44Speaker 3: the United States leverage around the world. Now, the president
- 4:48Speaker 3: also talked about our economy and what we've done to recover,
- 4:52Speaker 3: saying that America was dead just a few years ago.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Since I took office, we have created more than one
- 4:58Speaker 1: million new private sector jobs, and more Americans are working
- 5:02Speaker 1: today by far than ever before. Last week, it was
- 5:07Speaker 1: announced that the poverty rate has reached its lowest level
- 5:12Speaker 1: in American history. We lifted 1.5 million Americans out of
- 5:16Speaker 1: poverty last Last year alone, another record. The African American
- 5:22Speaker 1: and Hispanic American poverty rates are at all-time lows. Real
- 5:27Speaker 1: household incomes for Americans have soared to the highest level
- 5:32Speaker 1: in history, 87,000 on average, surpassing the prior record that
- 5:38Speaker 1: I set in my first term. From day one, my
- 5:41Speaker 1: administration has worked to remove every single unnecessary regulation and
- 5:46Speaker 1: obstacle to doing business in America. We passed the largest
- 5:51Speaker 1: tax cuts in American history, and as a result, more
- 5:54Speaker 1: money is being invested in the United States right now
- 5:58Speaker 1: than has ever been invested in any nation anywhere in
- 6:01Speaker 1: the world.
- 6:03Speaker 2: U.S.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Stock markets have set 80 all-time records, and that's just
- 6:08Speaker 1: in the last 12 months. We've secured commitments for $ 21
- 6:13Speaker 1: trillion in new investments from all over the planet. compared
- 6:18Speaker 1: to less than $ 1 trillion in four years in the
- 6:21Speaker 1: previous administration. Two years ago, our country was dead, and
- 6:26Speaker 1: now we have the hottest country anywhere in the world.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Anywhere in the world, the president laying it out, saying,
- 6:34Speaker 3: I'm going to be proud of this country. Now, there
- 6:36Speaker 3: was also another very interesting conversation the president had. And
- 6:41Speaker 3: he says, while others have talked, I've acted.
- 6:43Speaker 4: And while others have spoken of peace, I've made peace.
- 6:46Speaker 3: But also he's willing to confront the world.
- 6:49Speaker 4: Specifically, he was referencing, obviously, Iran.
- 6:53Speaker 3: And I want you to take a listen to what
- 6:55Speaker 3: he had to say about America and our role in
- 6:57Speaker 3: the world, specifically when it comes to peace, but also
- 7:00Speaker 3: standing up to bullies like Iran.
- 7:02Speaker 1: The entire world is being lifted by the wealth, strength,
- 7:07Speaker 1: spirit and momentum of a newly energized and a very
- 7:11Speaker 1: powerful United States of America. And just as we moved
- 7:16Speaker 1: quickly to address problems we inherited at home, we have
- 7:20Speaker 1: acted with decisiveness and speed. to reshape the world stage
- 7:24Speaker 1: and solve problems that have plagued us for far too long.
- 7:29Speaker 4: Every leader in this.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Room and your great leaders, many great leaders, I know
- 7:33Speaker 1: all of you very well, but they know that given
- 7:36Speaker 1: only a short time to make this world better, safer,
- 7:40Speaker 1: and more prosperous for our children, for the people on Earth,
- 7:43Speaker 1: we have to take advantage of it. As president of
- 7:46Speaker 1: the most extraordinary nation in history, I have no interest
- 7:50Speaker 1: in leaving dangers to grow for another day. I do
- 7:53Speaker 1: not believe in letting problems fester. They only become harder
- 7:57Speaker 1: to solve. So while others have talked, I have acted.
- 8:03Speaker 1: While others have spoken of peace, I have made peace.
- 8:07Speaker 1: While others have ignored threats, I have confronted them. While
- 8:12Speaker 1: others have talked of courage, America has shown it. While
- 8:17Speaker 1: others have promised strength, I have used it to make
- 8:20Speaker 1: America the most powerful country in the world.
- 8:23Speaker 4: Now, the president wasn't done there.
- 8:26Speaker 3: He also talked about Iran and specifically what it means
- 8:30Speaker 3: for the president of the United States of America when
- 8:32Speaker 3: it comes to options with Iran and what the world
- 8:35Speaker 3: need to understand about Iran.
- 8:37Speaker 1: But I have a big decision to make. Will a
- 8:40Speaker 1: deal be made with Iran that lets them rebuild and
- 8:45Speaker 1: create a far greater country than it ever was before?
- 8:49Speaker 1: maybe one of the greatest in the Middle East or
- 8:51Speaker 1: even the world? Or do I annihilate the Islamic Republic
- 8:56Speaker 1: and do it quickly, never giving them a chance to
- 8:59Speaker 1: kill and destroy people and countries again? Do I drive
- 9:04Speaker 1: them into hell with no chance of survival and no
- 9:07Speaker 1: hope of future greatness or generations? But I believe we'll
- 9:12Speaker 1: make a deal right after the election because it doesn't
- 9:17Speaker 1: make sense for them not to They're waiting to see
- 9:20Speaker 1: how I do in the midterm election. What they don't
- 9:23Speaker 1: realize is that I'm not running. I did that already
- 9:28Speaker 1: and won in a landslide. We won in a giant landslide.
- 9:31Speaker 1: And I'll be here for two and a half years.
- 9:34Speaker 1: The Republican Party is running and I'll be helping them.
- 9:37Speaker 1: But I am not running. I gave absolutely no credence
- 9:42Speaker 1: and will not give credence to the election when it
- 9:45Speaker 1: comes to Iran. It doesn't even enter my mind. The
- 9:50Speaker 1: only thing that does is that Iran will never have
- 9:54Speaker 1: a nuclear weapon.
- 9:55Speaker 3: The president making it clear at the United Nations that
- 9:58Speaker 3: he will not be bullied by Iran It will not
- 10:01Speaker 3: change his domestic policy. It will not change the way
- 10:03Speaker 3: that he does the election coming up. And that he
- 10:06Speaker 3: will make sure that Iran comes to the table for
- 10:08Speaker 3: a deal that makes sure that Iran never, ever has
- 10:11Speaker 3: a nuclear weapon. And that, my friends, is the warning
- 10:14Speaker 3: from the president, not just to Iran, but also to
- 10:17Speaker 3: the rest.
- 10:17Speaker 4: Of the world.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Next, story number two.
- 10:19Speaker 3: President Trump has pushed to keep American diesel now in America,
- 10:24Speaker 3: as prices are hitting a record high ahead of the midterms. Now,
- 10:28Speaker 3: this is a major new fight breaking out in Washington
- 10:31Speaker 3: over the price of diesel fuel, and the president put
- 10:34Speaker 3: himself directly in the middle of it. Now, let me
- 10:37Speaker 3: explain to you what the basic argument is. It's actually
- 10:40Speaker 3: really simple. This is what the White House and advocates
- 10:44Speaker 3: are saying, that if American refineries are producing diesel in America,
- 10:48Speaker 3: should we continue shipping enormous quantities of that diesel overseas
- 10:52Speaker 3: while American farmers and truckers and businesses are paying record
- 10:56Speaker 3: prices here at home? Now, a growing group of lawmakers
- 10:59Speaker 3: and state officials are saying absolutely not. And now President
- 11:03Speaker 3: Trump says he has been pushing the same idea inside
- 11:07Speaker 3: his administration. Now, speaking to reporters on Tuesday before meeting
- 11:11Speaker 3: President Zelensky of Ukraine, Trump said, quote, I've said let's
- 11:16Speaker 3: not send out the diesel. We make a lot of diesel.
- 11:21Speaker 3: I've called for it. I've called for it within my people,
- 11:24Speaker 3: referring to his administration. Now, this is significant because the
- 11:28Speaker 3: Treasury Secretary Scott Besson said alongside the president that the
- 11:31Speaker 3: administration is examining whether an export restriction is feasible and
- 11:36Speaker 3: whether it would make more sense to impose a full
- 11:39Speaker 3: or partial restriction. So this has moved beyond a couple
- 11:43Speaker 3: of members of Congress now. Now this is not just
- 11:46Speaker 3: them throwing an idea out there against a wall and
- 11:49Speaker 3: seeing if it sticks. The president now has officially and
- 11:52Speaker 3: publicly advocated for this concept. Now, the second question you
- 11:57Speaker 3: may be asking yourself is, OK, well, why is this happening? Well,
- 12:00Speaker 3: look at diesel prices. This is the part that hurts.
- 12:03Speaker 3: The national average reached about six and a half dollars
- 12:07Speaker 3: a gallon this week, according to AAA figures.
- 12:10Speaker 4: That's a record.
- 12:11Speaker 3: And the increase has been particularly brutal for America's agricultural economy.
- 12:17Speaker 4: Now, remember, diesel isn't simply another fuel.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Diesel runs the American economy. It fuels the tractors that
- 12:24Speaker 3: plant the corn. It fuels the combine that harvests it.
- 12:28Speaker 3: It fuels the trucks that carry the food to a
- 12:30Speaker 3: processing facility. And then another diesel truck carries the produce
- 12:35Speaker 3: or the product to the distribution centers. And then another
- 12:39Speaker 3: truck that is run on diesel carries it to your
- 12:42Speaker 3: grocery store.
- 12:43Speaker 1: So.
- 12:44Speaker 3: Even if you're never owned a diesel vehicle in your life, you, yes,
- 12:49Speaker 3: you are paying for diesel. You pay for it when
- 12:52Speaker 3: you buy your groceries. You pay for it when you
- 12:54Speaker 3: buy building materials. You pay for it when a package
- 12:57Speaker 3: arrives at your house. And that's why this is quickly
- 13:00Speaker 3: becoming such a major economic issue and a pressure point
- 13:04Speaker 3: for American voters. One of the loudest voices has been
- 13:07Speaker 3: the Republican Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa. Grassley himself is
- 13:11Speaker 3: a farmer. And he said the soaring diesel prices are
- 13:14Speaker 3: killing farmers income. And he publicly then asked why Trump
- 13:18Speaker 3: should impose an embargo on diesel exports similar to export
- 13:22Speaker 3: restrictions presidents used during the economic turmoil in the 1970s. Now,
- 13:27Speaker 3: Republican Congresswoman Ashley Henson of Iowa has also joined this push. Now,
- 13:33Speaker 3: the Congresswoman is advocating several ideas simultaneously. Number one, temporarily
- 13:39Speaker 3: she wants to suspend the federal gas tax. Two, pause
- 13:43Speaker 3: diesel exports. Three, expand E15 availability. And four, restore the
- 13:49Speaker 3: $ 1 per gallon biodiesel tax credit and creating a diesel
- 13:55Speaker 3: relief program for farmers and truckers. Now, the diesel relief
- 13:59Speaker 3: program may actually have the best chance of winning, and
- 14:01Speaker 3: I'm going to dive into that in a little bit
- 14:02Speaker 3: as well. Now, Republican Congressman Zach Noon has argued that
- 14:07Speaker 3: America should, quote, sell American energy to Americans first, while
- 14:13Speaker 3: other representatives have actually called for a total pause in
- 14:16Speaker 3: exports of any diesel fuel. Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers
- 14:21Speaker 3: in Michigan came out and is advocating for a temporary
- 14:24Speaker 3: diesel export embargo as well, arguing that American produced energy
- 14:30Speaker 3: should provide relief to American families before anybody else in
- 14:34Speaker 3: the world. Then there's also Congressman Tim Burchett of Tennessee.
- 14:38Speaker 3: He has gone beyond talking about it. He's actually now
- 14:41Speaker 3: introducing legislation saying, Now, Burchett's bill would suspend diesel exports
- 14:47Speaker 3: through January of 2027. Another part of his bill would
- 14:52Speaker 3: trigger export restrictions when the national average diesel price hits
- 14:57Speaker 3: $ 5 a gallon and keep those restrictions in place until
- 15:00Speaker 3: the average falls to $ 4. 50 a gallon or below for
- 15:03Speaker 3: 30 consecutive days.
- 15:06Speaker 4: Which is a very interesting strategy.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Now, we now know that we have congressmen that are
- 15:11Speaker 3: behind this and senators, but what about states? Well, the
- 15:15Speaker 3: Louisiana governor has just proposed a straightforward 90-day pause on
- 15:19Speaker 3: American diesel exports. And Louisiana, by the way, matters because
- 15:24Speaker 3: it sits at the heart of America's Gulf course refining industry. Now,
- 15:28Speaker 3: Governor Landry's argument is this. America is producing the fuel.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Europe desperately needs the fuel. Europe is buying huge quantities
- 15:37Speaker 3: of it. And Americans are consequentially competing in a global
- 15:41Speaker 3: market for something being refined right here at home. Now,
- 15:45Speaker 3: Governor Landry of Louisiana argues that temporarily keeping more diesel
- 15:49Speaker 3: inside the United States of America would not only increase
- 15:52Speaker 3: domestic supply and provide immediate price relief, while Washington works
- 15:56Speaker 3: on a longer-term solution. Now, U.S.
- 15:58Speaker 4: Refineries produce more.
- 16:00Speaker 3: Than 5 million barrels of distillate per day. Now, that
- 16:04Speaker 3: primarily is diesel. And historically, roughly a quarter was then exported.
- 16:09Speaker 3: But the share has recently gone to above 35 percent
- 16:13Speaker 3: amid the global distributions, according to the Energy Information Administration's
- 16:17Speaker 3: figures that were cited by the Louisiana governor. Now, why
- 16:21Speaker 3: is the rest of the world suddenly so desperate for diesel? Well,
- 16:24Speaker 3: there's two enormous geopolitical conflicts happening right now.
- 16:27Speaker 4: Number one, Iran. And number two, Russia-Ukraine war.
- 16:32Speaker 3: The wars and associated distributions have squeezed global petroleum and
- 16:36Speaker 3: refining supplies, sending buyers scrambling for American fuel. And this
- 16:41Speaker 3: is where Trump connected the diesel problem directly to Ukraine.
- 16:45Speaker 3: The president said Ukrainian attacks against Russian refining facilities are
- 16:49Speaker 3: hurting Russia, but they're also affecting diesel prices. Trump said
- 16:54Speaker 3: he planned to discuss those refinery attacks with Zelensky as
- 16:57Speaker 3: part of their meeting that is taking place right now
- 16:59Speaker 3: at the U.N. But here's where this even gets more complicated.
- 17:04Speaker 3: There is also a serious economic argument against an export ban.
- 17:09Speaker 3: And interestingly, some of the strongest opposition is actually coming
- 17:13Speaker 3: from America's own energy industry. Let me give you an example.
- 17:17Speaker 3: The Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association. They're now arguing
- 17:22Speaker 3: that domestic pipelines are already operating near capacity. Its president
- 17:27Speaker 3: said if refiners suddenly cannot export excess diesel, but also
- 17:32Speaker 3: cannot efficiently move the additional product elsewhere inside the United
- 17:36Speaker 3: States of America. then refiners could be forced to reduce production.
- 17:41Speaker 3: And refineries don't just manufacture diesel. They manufacture gasoline and
- 17:46Speaker 3: other petroleum products simultaneously. So their argument is that an
- 17:50Speaker 3: export restriction intended to lower diesel prices could eventually reduce
- 17:55Speaker 3: refinery output and potentially put upward pressure on the fuel prices,
- 17:59Speaker 3: meaning this would do the exact opposite of what the
- 18:02Speaker 3: president is hoping that it will do. Now, the Interior Secretary,
- 18:05Speaker 3: Doug Burgum, expressed similar skepticism last week, saying an oil
- 18:10Speaker 3: or fuel export ban would would be unlikely to reduce
- 18:14Speaker 3: consumer energy prices. That is, well, now the center of
- 18:18Speaker 3: this debate. Supporters are saying, hey, you got to keep
- 18:21Speaker 3: American diesel in America, increase domestic supply, and drive down
- 18:25Speaker 3: prices immediately.
