- 0:41Speaker 3: Summer day. The cowboy coming off the road just to
- 0:50Speaker 3: pass the time away. Pulled the stool up to the
- 0:54Speaker 3: bar and he pushed his hat back on his head.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Now listen to the stories told, the words the cowboy said.
- 1:03Speaker 5: He said, I can tell you stories about the Indians
- 1:07Speaker 5: on the plains. Talk about Wells Fargo and the coming
- 1:13Speaker 5: of the trains. I can talk about the slaughter of
- 1:19Speaker 5: the buffalo that roamed. Sing you songs of setting, come
- 1:24Speaker 5: out looking for a home.
- 1:28Speaker 6: And the man with the big hat is buying. Drink
- 1:34Speaker 6: up while.
- 1:35Speaker 7: The drinking is free.
- 1:39Speaker 8: Drink up to the cowboys, the dead or the dying.
- 1:47Speaker 1: That's Jerry, Jeff, and Willie.
- 1:52Speaker 6: The song, The.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Man in the Big Hat. I'll tell you all about
- 1:57Speaker 1: that while we're playing it. Coming up here in a
- 1:59Speaker 1: few minutes. Welcome in this portion of the program. Brought
- 2:03Speaker 1: to you by Radiant Dentistry. As you just heard before,
- 2:06Speaker 1: we were on the air for Paul Feinbaum. SEC Commissioner
- 2:10Speaker 1: Greg Sankey surprisingly testified in the lawsuit in Baton Rouge today,
- 2:17Speaker 1: said he thought it was important to be here. Pete
- 2:20Speaker 1: Thamel quoting Sankey's comments to the media after a lengthy testimony, quote,
- 2:26Speaker 1: long experience. It's important to be here. Plenty of disagreement
- 2:30Speaker 1: on tough issues. I wanted to represent our universities and
- 2:34Speaker 1: their expectations. I think it's important to stand up for principles.
- 2:40Speaker 6: Even if people disagree.
- 2:42Speaker 1: We've not had people leaving NFL training camps and coming
- 2:46Speaker 1: back to college. It's important to stand up for our principles.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Right before Sankey took the stand, the SEC filed lawsuit
- 2:59Speaker 1: in U.S. District Court in Birmingham against LSU and Lane Kiffin,
- 3:05Speaker 1: the athletic director, and the president. That came, of course,
- 3:11Speaker 1: right before the preliminary hearing. Sankey said to the lawsuit,
- 3:17Speaker 1: we will let.
- 3:18Speaker 6: It speak for itself.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Meanwhile, Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrell, who showed up in
- 3:25Speaker 1: a purple blouse and said, go Tigers, to the reporters
- 3:29Speaker 1: sitting in front of the courthouse, called the lawsuit garbage.
- 3:34Speaker 1: She called the timing legal gamesmanship and criticized Sankey for
- 3:39Speaker 1: wanting to go home on a private jet. I don't
- 3:42Speaker 1: know what that has to do with all of the
- 3:45Speaker 1: lawsuits going on. It may be a while before we
- 3:49Speaker 1: get a decision in this lawsuit.
- 3:54Speaker 6: It's very interesting.
- 3:57Speaker 1: That that happened, and we will just continue to follow
- 4:02Speaker 1: all this. We think LSU and Clemson are playing football
- 4:07Speaker 1: Saturday night. Jerry Sandusky, remember him? We just mentioned his
- 4:13Speaker 1: name yesterday. has instructed his attorneys to seek cancellation of
- 4:18Speaker 1: a hearing scheduled next Tuesday in which one of his
- 4:21Speaker 1: accusers was expected to recant his sexual assault accusation, opting
- 4:28Speaker 1: to take his appeal for a new trial to federal court.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Frank Parlato Jr., an investigator, has been looking into Sandusky's
- 4:37Speaker 1: case for three years and encouraged accuser Ryan Rittenmeyer to
- 4:43Speaker 1: formalize His recantation in court told ESPN attorneys for the
- 4:48Speaker 1: 82-year-old Sandusky would file paperwork this week to withdraw from
- 4:53Speaker 1: the Tuesday hearing and instead seek a federal court remedy.
- 5:00Speaker 1: And Cody Campbell can't keep his mouth shut. Talking about
- 5:04Speaker 1: the Sorsby situation this summer, looking back on it, I
- 5:10Speaker 1: know that Texas Tech and I handled everything with integrity
- 5:14Speaker 1: and we did things the right way.
- 5:16Speaker 6: This is quoting from a documentary.
- 5:19Speaker 1: I think this is something that could have been handled
- 5:22Speaker 1: much more privately. We're not going to forget about that.
- 5:26Speaker 1: And I don't think they'll forget about it when we're
- 5:29Speaker 1: up by 40 and still throwing the ball in the
- 5:32Speaker 1: fourth quarter. That's where the retribution will come.
- 5:37Speaker 6: Okay.
- 5:39Speaker 1: We've got College football tonight. The Fighting Deion Sanders are
- 5:46Speaker 1: playing in Atlanta at Bobby Dodd Stadium against Georgia Tech.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Idaho and Utah play tonight. UAB and Illinois play tonight.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Missouri plays tonight. That game is on the SEC Network.
- 6:05Speaker 1: The Houston Astros scored two in the eighth inning on
- 6:10Speaker 1: Nelson Velasquez's RBI single that broke a scoreless tie.
- 6:18Speaker 6: Shut out the.
- 6:19Speaker 1: White Sox 2-0 yesterday to improve their record to 71-69.
- 6:30Speaker 6: Would you check their score real quick today? They won 62.
- 6:33Speaker 3: Crap.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Okay, well, the Astros are now 72-69 and putting more
- 6:40Speaker 1: pressure on the Rangers. Earlier today, it was announced that
- 6:44Speaker 1: Josh Hader has been named the American League Reliever of
- 6:47Speaker 1: the Month for August. He threw 13 scoreless, no, 14
- 6:55Speaker 1: and a third scoreless innings and 13 in appearances.
- 6:59Speaker 6: Four for four.
- 7:00Speaker 1: 47 batting average, 15 strikeouts.
- 7:04Speaker 9: And one walk.
- 7:05Speaker 1: In other words, he was really good in the month
- 7:07Speaker 1: of August, which is why the Astros, one of the
- 7:10Speaker 1: big reasons they started winning. The Rangers trying to get
- 7:14Speaker 1: a horrible taste out of their mouths, losing yesterday 9-2
- 7:19Speaker 1: to a bad Oakland team. Ranger pitchers gave up five
- 7:25Speaker 1: Oakland home runs yesterday afternoon.
- 7:28Speaker 6: And it gets worse.
- 7:29Speaker 1: They have to host the Tampa Bay Rays tonight. Cal Quantrill,
- 7:34Speaker 1: who's been pretty good, will be on the mound for
- 7:38Speaker 1: the Rangers, who are 69-71 and now two and a
- 7:44Speaker 1: half games behind the Houston Astros. They're playing tennis at
- 7:51Speaker 1: the U.S.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Open.
- 7:52Speaker 6: Coco Gauff plays at 6 o'clock.
- 7:57Speaker 1: American Madison Keys had to go to a third set
- 8:01Speaker 1: tiebreaker to win her match today. And American Taylor Fritz
- 8:07Speaker 1: is playing or has already played this afternoon against Mattia
- 8:13Speaker 1: Bellucci of Italy. So we'll keep an eye on that
- 8:19Speaker 1: one for you. We're going to hear from Lane Kiffin
- 8:25Speaker 1: coming up. We are going to have a high school report.
- 8:31Speaker 1: We're going to hear from both the Rangers and Astros manager.
- 8:37Speaker 1: In the second hour, we have our Clark Eisenhower outdoor edition.
- 8:43Speaker 1: We are going on a float trip down the Roaring
- 8:46Speaker 1: Fork River in Colorado.
- 8:49Speaker 6: And, of course, lots of animals attacking. Tomorrow, we're going
- 8:55Speaker 6: to be joined... By.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Kirk Bowles, Tony Catalina, Ryan will be in hosting. I'll
- 9:02Speaker 1: be back Monday with the Writers' Roundtable.
- 9:06Speaker 6: All right. Let's get this thing kicked off. We'll come back.
- 9:11Speaker 1: This portion of the program brought to you by Chad
- 9:13Speaker 1: Jones Law.
- 9:16Speaker 10: I'm Chad Jones. We know sports injuries hurt. And so

- 9:59Speaker 6: I got a reminder for you.
- 10:02Speaker 1: This is week one of Friday's Fearless Football Forecast Contest
- 10:06Speaker 1: brought to you by Chad Jones Law and Zorneman Flooring.
- 10:09Speaker 1: We have 10 games, 10 games to pick. Two high
- 10:14Speaker 1: school games, Thomas and Rudder consolidated at Huntsville. Our tiebreaker
- 10:19Speaker 1: is SMU Florida State. We've got Baylor Auburn, Louisville Ole Miss,
- 10:25Speaker 1: the Apple Cup, Washington State and Washington, Tulane and Duke,
- 10:30Speaker 1: Oklahoma State, Tulsa, UCLA and Cal and Clemson and LSU.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Those are the 10 games we are picking tonight. This week,
- 10:40Speaker 1: week one of the contest, if you don't get your
- 10:43Speaker 1: picks in, I don't think you can win the cup.
- 10:47Speaker 1: I don't think you can win the cup. We'll give
- 10:49Speaker 1: away weekly prizes, not till Tuesday because we've got a
- 10:53Speaker 1: Monday night game on the schedule. But we do this
- 10:56Speaker 1: every week right up through the end of the regular season.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Everybody wants to get their name engraved on the cup.
- 11:06Speaker 6: Go to chiphoward.com. Make your picks.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Friday's Fearless Football Forecast Contest brought to you all season
- 11:15Speaker 1: long by Zwirneman, Flooring, and Chad Jones Law.
- 11:22Speaker 6: I have, let's see, I've got some breaking news here. Wow,
- 11:28Speaker 6: that was quick. I can't get to it quick enough,
- 11:30Speaker 6: but here it is.
- 11:33Speaker 1: North Carolina general manager Michael Lombardi is resigning. He was
- 11:40Speaker 1: the highest paid general manager in college football. The bottom
- 11:48Speaker 1: line is he had been, I think, maybe on leave
- 11:52Speaker 1: because they were doing an investigation on But Lombardi is
- 11:57Speaker 1: now resigned, and despite the win over TCU, it's still
- 12:02Speaker 1: a dumpster fire with Bill Belichick and North Carolina, which again,
- 12:07Speaker 1: as we talked yesterday, how big is a dumpster fire
- 12:11Speaker 1: in TCU if that team beat TCU?
- 12:14Speaker 6: But they did. Still not sure Belichick will survive this season.
- 12:20Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 12:22Speaker 1: We'll see how all of that works out. So we
- 12:26Speaker 1: started the show with Jerry Jeff and Willie's song, The
- 12:31Speaker 1: Man with the Big Hat. Last night, I was able
- 12:36Speaker 1: to go to a preview of a documentary by filmmaker
- 12:44Speaker 1: Austin Sayre on Texas singer-songwriter Steve Frumholz. We're going to
- 12:50Speaker 1: get Austin on the show here in the next couple
- 12:53Speaker 1: of weeks. Lyle Lovett was hosting through the visual arts
- 13:01Speaker 1: department at A & M. Performance is called performance visualization,
- 13:08Speaker 1: it's easy for me to say, and fine arts, or
- 13:11Speaker 1: PVFA as we like to call it. So got to
- 13:17Speaker 1: see Lyle, got to visit with Austin Sayre a little
- 13:20Speaker 1: bit and watch this phenomenal documentary. It was debuted at
- 13:26Speaker 1: South by Southwest in March. It's got footage from Fromholz,
- 13:34Speaker 1: which is amazing because there's not much of it. Archival
- 13:39Speaker 1: footage from Austin City Limits. Lyle sang with Steve Fromholz.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Ray Benson is in it. Butch Hancock is in it.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Larry Joe Taylor is in it. It is really, really
- 13:57Speaker 1: well done. And Lovett covered Steve Frumholtz on his 1998
- 14:06Speaker 1: double album, Step Inside This House. If you've never heard
- 14:13Speaker 1: Texas Trilogy... It is an experience. And he was really amazing.
- 14:23Speaker 1: It's a terrific story. And by the way, I think
- 14:29Speaker 1: I surprised Austin Sayre when I told him, because in
- 14:33Speaker 1: the documentary, it talks about the fact that Frumholtz teamed
- 14:39Speaker 1: up with Stephen Stills on a tour. After Stills, one
- 14:43Speaker 1: of the many breakups of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young,
- 14:48Speaker 1: Stills was touring as a solo performer, but he took
- 14:52Speaker 1: Steve Frumholtz with him. And I saw Stephen Stills and
- 14:58Speaker 1: Steve Frumholtz in Dallas.
- 15:02Speaker 6: And I still remember the experience.
- 15:05Speaker 1: I saw Frumholtz a couple of three different times in
- 15:08Speaker 1: Austin when he was coming up. His debut album was
- 15:17Speaker 1: a critical success, if not just a huge financial success,
- 15:22Speaker 1: called Frummox. And he was really part of the Texas
- 15:29Speaker 1: music scene.
- 15:31Speaker 6: I mean, a big part of it.
- 15:35Speaker 1: And when Willie Nelson covered his song, I'd Have to
- 15:39Speaker 1: Be Crazy... That sent Frumholtz to another level. And we'll
- 15:43Speaker 1: hear that song coming up here in a little bit.
- 15:45Speaker 1: And Frumholtz is in that song. And they told a
- 15:49Speaker 1: story in the documentary about it. It won Best Documentary
- 15:55Speaker 1: Feature at the San Antonio Film Festival. He is headed
- 15:58Speaker 1: to Nashville here in a couple of weeks to debut
- 16:01Speaker 1: the film. It's called The Man with the Big Hat.
- 16:04Speaker 1: It is not out yet. I think they're still looking
- 16:08Speaker 1: for finances for wide release. I hope it comes out,
- 16:14Speaker 1: and I hope it rekindles and in most cases is
- 16:21Speaker 1: going to introduce people to Steve Frumholtz's music. But thanks
- 16:28Speaker 1: to the folks at PVFA.com. for having us out last night.
- 16:35Speaker 1: It was a terrific time.
- 16:38Speaker 6: Okay.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin's team is actually scheduled to play a football
- 16:44Speaker 1: game this weekend, a pretty big football game. They're scheduled
- 16:48Speaker 1: to host Clemson at Death Valley. The people at LSU
- 16:52Speaker 1: have already said there are more media and more celebrities
- 16:57Speaker 1: will be at that game than the history of Death Valley. Okay,
- 17:05Speaker 1: which means so far Lane has done everything they hired
- 17:10Speaker 1: him to do, including all the circus. Okay, he met
- 17:17Speaker 1: with the media in Baton Rouge earlier this week.
- 17:24Speaker 12: All right, guys, game week. Couldn't be more excited for
- 17:27Speaker 12: this to be here. You know, 649 on Saturday. On ABC,
- 17:34Speaker 12: stadium sold out. It was really neat Saturday. We try
- 17:39Speaker 12: to always prepare them for everything. We've always had a
- 17:43Speaker 12: mock game. Gone through hotel, meals, walkthroughs, everything that they do.
- 17:50Speaker 12: How they dress. Everything from Sunday all the way until
- 17:56Speaker 12: the end of Saturday. I didn't know that On our walk,
- 18:02Speaker 12: I just thought nobody would be there. It was pretty
- 18:05Speaker 12: cool that some fans were there somehow. It was really
- 18:08Speaker 12: neat to see the band play during the game so
- 18:11Speaker 12: we could get used to that when that is. TV
- 18:15Speaker 12: timeouts and everything. That kind of made it as real
- 18:19Speaker 12: as we could make it for them. Hopefully that helps
- 18:21Speaker 12: prepare them for Saturday. It's awesome having college game day here.
- 18:25Speaker 12: I think that speaks a lot of where LSU is
- 18:30Speaker 12: as a program. and how it's viewed. And that's really exciting.
- 18:35Speaker 12: It's what kids want. They want to be the national
- 18:38Speaker 12: game of the week and they want college game day
- 18:41Speaker 12: to cover them. So I'm really excited for that part.
- 18:44Speaker 12: But again, this will be about preparation, not hype. There's
- 18:48Speaker 12: so much hype into this game, so much excitement from
- 18:51Speaker 12: our fan base, you know, to watch us probably that
- 18:55Speaker 12: same excitement for everybody else in the country to root
- 18:57Speaker 12: the other way against us. And, um, Just a lot
- 19:02Speaker 12: of work went into it. Whatever, seven, eight months of
- 19:05Speaker 12: getting to this point. I always look at the game
- 19:08Speaker 12: really as like a performance. The players do all this work.
- 19:13Speaker 12: The coaches do all this work to make sure they
- 19:15Speaker 12: put the best performance out there for our people and
- 19:19Speaker 12: our fans. Really tough opponent in Clemson. Very well coached.
- 19:25Speaker 12: Veteran staff of guys that have won a lot of games.
- 19:28Speaker 3: Coordinators.
- 19:29Speaker 12: Head coach obviously. Dabo's one of the best ever ever
- 19:32Speaker 12: do it and has done it for a long time.
- 19:35Speaker 12: This is a great matchup, one we're excited to be
- 19:38Speaker 12: part of. Again, I've said it before, I'm humbled to
- 19:42Speaker 12: be here as the LSU head coach. I don't take
- 19:45Speaker 12: that lightly. I would hope that the way that we work,
- 19:48Speaker 12: the time that we put in, and the preparation that
- 19:50Speaker 12: we do over these seven months is what people brought
- 19:55Speaker 12: us here to do I.
- 19:56Speaker 13: Guess just the you talked about it a little bit
- 19:58Speaker 13: but just some of the decisions that you guys have
- 20:00Speaker 13: made over the last week to potentially bring in some
- 20:02Speaker 13: of these players from NFL rosters just if you could
- 20:05Speaker 13: expand on that a little bit more and then just
- 20:06Speaker 13: your conversations with the conference too in terms of making
- 20:10Speaker 13: sure everything's okay?
- 20:12Speaker 12: That's a great question about these decisions. I probably am
- 20:18Speaker 12: in the minority of how I make decisions and probably
- 20:21Speaker 12: not what most coaches do. I feel like my decisions
- 20:25Speaker 12: should always be made in the best interest of the
- 20:28Speaker 12: players that sit in this team room and not but
- 20:32Speaker 12: for my reputation and how the decisions play in the
- 20:35Speaker 12: national media or other fan bases. I've never been that way,
- 20:39Speaker 12: and that could be wrong. It's probably part of my
- 20:40Speaker 12: story why it is the way it is. But those
- 20:43Speaker 12: players and the people that hire me always know he's
- 20:46Speaker 12: constantly trying to do the best thing for them. So
- 20:49Speaker 12: I struggled with it a lot. There's a lot of
- 20:53Speaker 12: factors into it and different things.
- 20:55Speaker 3: And one that.
- 20:58Speaker 12: I struggled too was, okay, this late, even though that's
- 21:01Speaker 12: what you do in the NFL, And there's an argument
- 21:03Speaker 12: these players are paid like that. And it's what happened
- 21:06Speaker 12: yesterday in the NFL. New players come in and take
- 21:08Speaker 12: people's spots and added to rosters. And other guys have
- 21:11Speaker 12: been there working. So I met with our leadership committee
- 21:16Speaker 12: of our players. And I asked them, it's your team.
- 21:20Speaker 12: What do you want to do? If these players are
- 21:24Speaker 12: allowed to be added to rosters, what do you want
- 21:27Speaker 12: to do? And every one of them was emphatic about.
- 21:32Speaker 12: They can help us win, bring them. And, you know,
- 21:35Speaker 12: we understand that, you know, we have a team that's
- 21:38Speaker 12: practiced together, worked together all off season, but one of
- 21:42Speaker 12: them said, Hey, this is how it works at the
- 21:44Speaker 12: next level. And this is how the real world works.
- 21:47Speaker 12: There aren't days you can't bring employees into, um, certain
- 21:51Speaker 12: jobs to help the, help the company. So, um, that
- 21:55Speaker 12: made me feel a little better in the struggle and
- 21:57Speaker 12: being torn back and forth. Um, So we'll wait to
- 22:03Speaker 12: hear for more guidance. The SEC issued guidance in our
- 22:07Speaker 12: question about that they'll follow court orders. And so we'll
- 22:11Speaker 12: wait until this week to see if there's any more guidance.
- 22:14Speaker 12: And the question whether myself as the head coach of
- 22:18Speaker 12: football and will football follow SEC orders, I said it
- 22:21Speaker 12: earlier this morning when asked, of course we will.
- 22:25Speaker 14: Coach, do you like where your offense is at this point?
- 22:28Speaker 14: Do you feel like with being game week, do you
- 22:30Speaker 14: feel like you've had enough practice time? Are they gelling
- 22:33Speaker 14: the way you like or do you feel like the
- 22:34Speaker 14: defense might have to carry you a little bit?
- 22:37Speaker 12: I don't ever feel like we're there. Maybe that's a
- 22:40Speaker 12: good thing. I always feel like there's somewhere to improve
- 22:46Speaker 12: and there's something we haven't thought about. The mock game,
- 22:51Speaker 12: obviously against lesser competition because it's our service teams as
- 22:54Speaker 12: the other opponent went really well and we moved the
- 22:56Speaker 12: ball great. I'm excited to see them play. But at
- 23:01Speaker 12: the same time, you know, there's still a week of
- 23:03Speaker 12: practice here and still things to do and different things
- 23:08Speaker 12: to look at in offense, defense, especially to make sure
- 23:10Speaker 12: we're putting the best product out there for everyone Saturday.
- 23:15Speaker 3: USA's safe pilot rewards safe.
- 23:18Speaker 15: These rules to cut out players coming from professional football
- 23:22Speaker 15: down to college, did The iron fist that they tried
- 23:27Speaker 15: to rule with, did that surprise you? Did that disappoint you?
- 23:29Speaker 15: I was just kind of interested in your reaction to
- 23:32Speaker 15: that and then the other conferences kind of following in foot.
- 23:36Speaker 12: Yeah, there was never a plan. First off, a lot
- 23:40Speaker 12: of athletes filed these injunctions or temporary restraining orders around
- 23:46Speaker 12: the country against the NCAA that were in this fifth
- 23:48Speaker 12: year and felt their attorneys and them felt they should
- 23:52Speaker 12: get that year back because of the NCAA not handling
- 23:54Speaker 12: it properly. So as they started to win these cases, obviously,
- 24:00Speaker 12: then came in conference rules. And so I don't think
- 24:03Speaker 12: it was very much a surprise. If you're those kids'
- 24:08Speaker 12: attorneys or those kids, they feel they have a court
- 24:10Speaker 12: order saying they can play, and now if they're restricted
- 24:12Speaker 12: by someone to not, they brought a court order against
- 24:17Speaker 12: the conference. So there's no intent, nor there ever was,
- 24:23Speaker 12: to play somebody that we're not supposed to in order
- 24:27Speaker 12: of an SEC rule. So I think, again, I'm not
- 24:30Speaker 12: the spokesperson. I think now you're waiting to see Thursday.
- 24:34Speaker 12: You know, the SEC had a stance, made a rule.
- 24:37Speaker 12: The judge felt that they couldn't do that to the players.
- 24:40Speaker 12: So we'll be practicing, focused on Clemson, and spending our
- 24:45Speaker 12: time on that all week. And they can figure out
- 24:49Speaker 12: the rest, and we'll just wait for guidance.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Right here towards the middle.
- 24:54Speaker 16: So what would be a realistic timeline for someone being
- 24:59Speaker 16: able to actually play in a game when you bring
- 25:00Speaker 16: them in that late?
- 25:01Speaker 17: I mean, could you have.
- 25:02Speaker 3: People show up?
- 25:03Speaker 7: Are they here already?
- 25:04Speaker 16: When could they start practicing and when could they play?
- 25:08Speaker 12: Yeah, to clarify the rules. So the SEC has a rule,
- 25:14Speaker 12: which I think is the only conference, that we make
- 25:19Speaker 12: our list the day before the first competition for the
- 25:22Speaker 12: first game. So for almost everybody Friday. We have to
- 25:25Speaker 12: turn a list in of the 105 to the SEC,
- 25:27Speaker 12: and that is locked. That cannot move, from my understanding,
- 25:31Speaker 12: from our conference. So you've got to make decisions, unless
- 25:36Speaker 12: there's information I don't know, by Friday for that. No,
- 25:43Speaker 12: it's not your question, but I don't also look at,
- 25:46Speaker 12: you know, there's a lot of people say, well, how
- 25:47Speaker 12: could you take players then and then they'll be ready
- 25:50Speaker 12: for the game? It's a long season. So I don't,
- 25:53Speaker 12: in my opinion, just like in the NFL, they take
- 25:56Speaker 12: people in week one knowing that, hey, they'll have them
- 25:59Speaker 12: ready by week two, three, four, and then they'll be
- 26:02Speaker 12: playing their best and they'll know their system. So every
- 26:06Speaker 12: coach obviously runs their program the way they want to
- 26:10Speaker 12: and they see things differently, and I respect that. I
- 26:13Speaker 12: think that we create systems that help this for people
- 26:17Speaker 12: coming late. We did it last year. Trinidad got to
- 26:20Speaker 12: us in the summer last year. Not that much earlier
- 26:24Speaker 12: as a quarterback, so I think we could.
- 26:27Speaker 3: Do it with other players.
- 26:29Speaker 18: I do have a club manager question, but can you confirm,
- 26:32Speaker 18: are the players that are committed enrolled and are practicing?
- 26:39Speaker 12: I can tell you that Daquan practiced, and the SEC
- 26:43Speaker 12: knows that. We asked them before. Again, that's in no
- 26:46Speaker 12: violation of any previous rule or even the The rule
- 26:50Speaker 12: that's out there now, the new rule, does not prohibit that. And,
- 26:55Speaker 12: you know, strictly talks about that final roster when you
- 26:58Speaker 12: make your 105 Friday.
- 27:01Speaker 18: Dave Juan's the only one practicing?
- 27:03Speaker 12: He was the only one practicing, yes.
- 27:06Speaker 18: Chad Morris and Christopher Vazina?
- 27:08Speaker 12: Well, in that, I mean, I guess we should clarify
- 27:10Speaker 12: the question so I can give you the right answer.
- 27:14Speaker 12: Junior practiced, and he's in the same court hearings. So
- 27:19Speaker 12: I guess if the question is of the kids around
- 27:22Speaker 12: the country that are in hearing and potential players, uh,
- 27:25Speaker 12: who has practiced and be day quantum junior.
- 27:29Speaker 18: Chad Morris and Christopher Vazina with new on Clemson. Um,
- 27:33Speaker 18: how do you prepare for them? And maybe a thought
- 27:35Speaker 18: on Vazina, what little we've seen of him.
- 27:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:38Speaker 12: I remember from high school, actually watched him work out, um,
- 27:41Speaker 12: really talented, really throws well on the move. Um, you know,
- 27:45Speaker 12: so that's a really good combination of them coming in
- 27:47Speaker 12: together and, and us having to figure out what are
- 27:50Speaker 12: they going to do because you don't know. The coach
- 27:52Speaker 12: hasn't called for a little bit of time, and so
- 27:56Speaker 12: we're not sure exactly what they'll look like, and that's
- 27:57Speaker 12: always scary. But this will be about us practicing really
- 28:02Speaker 12: well and then playing really well in a really exciting environment,
- 28:05Speaker 12: but going back to not all the hype and just
- 28:08Speaker 12: the preparation of it and playing really well in our
- 28:10Speaker 12: first game together.
- 28:12Speaker 6: Lane's not into the hype. He doesn't really like the hype.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Getting his team prepared to play the fighting Davos. Big
- 28:24Speaker 1: game for Davos. Were they 5-7 last year, I think?
- 28:31Speaker 1: That game is at 6-30. So if you're going to
- 28:35Speaker 1: the Aggie game, you'll have to set the recorder if
- 28:37Speaker 1: you care.
- 28:37Speaker 6: 6-30 on ABC.
- 28:43Speaker 1: A & M' s on ESPN at 6.
- 28:46Speaker 6: The Battle of the Tigers... At 6.30. So, 5-7. Was
- 28:53Speaker 6: I right about that, Stan? They were, for the overall record, 7-6. Oh, 7-6.
- 29:00Speaker 6: Better than I thought.
- 29:01Speaker 3: Okay.
- 29:03Speaker 9: All right.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Well, that's not championship level. It hasn't been for a
- 29:08Speaker 1: little while. And I'm a Davo fan, by the way.
- 29:11Speaker 1: I like Davo.
- 29:16Speaker 3: And.
- 29:16Speaker 1: When everything was swirling last year, Davos said, hey, fire me.
- 29:21Speaker 1: I'll go somewhere else and win. And eventually that's probably
- 29:26Speaker 1: going to happen. We've talked about this, but once you
- 29:32Speaker 1: get to the top, man, staying to the top is
- 29:37Speaker 1: just darn near impossible.
- 29:39Speaker 3: Very.
- 29:40Speaker 6: Very few can do it.
- 29:43Speaker 1: And then once it starts going down, it is really
- 29:48Speaker 1: hard to get back. And of course, by then, all
- 29:53Speaker 1: the fan base is totally spoiled.
- 29:55Speaker 3: Right.
- 29:56Speaker 1: It's like, hey, you want to you play for two more.
- 30:00Speaker 1: And we're seven and six. We need somebody else. And
- 30:05Speaker 1: that'll happen, I'm sure. Sevchak Service Center, 2200 Longmire, just
- 30:12Speaker 1: down from the post office in College Station, is open
- 30:14Speaker 1: until six this evening. You might need some new windshield wipers.
- 30:18Speaker 1: You might not have used yours for like three months.
- 30:21Speaker 1: And they have been hard and crusty, sit baking in
- 30:24Speaker 1: that heat. And you turned them on last night or
- 30:27Speaker 1: maybe a little bit today and went, hey.
- 30:30Speaker 6: I can't see.
- 30:32Speaker 1: They'll install them while you wait there, right there at
- 30:35Speaker 1: the gasoline pump. They do a lot more than that.
- 30:39Speaker 1: If you've got more serious issues, if you're going on
- 30:42Speaker 1: the road, they're open Saturday, by the way, from 7
- 30:46Speaker 1: to 4. So drop by and see Pat and the staff.
- 30:50Speaker 1: They're carrying on the long Sevchek's family tradition. It's Sevchek
- 30:56Speaker 1: Service Center, 2200 Longmire, just down from the post office.
- 30:59Speaker 6: In College Station.
- 31:02Speaker 9: This is C & J Barbecue.
- 31:05Speaker 12: Okay, so for the ad, I'm thinking fog machines, laser lights,
- 31:09Speaker 12: maybe a.
- 31:10Speaker 6: Do kids eat free?
- 31:11Speaker 3: Uh, yes.
- 31:12Speaker 6: Like, actually free?
- 31:14Speaker 9: Yes, every Wednesday night.
- 31:15Speaker 2: So I can get free barbecue?
- 31:17Speaker 3: That's how kids eat free works, buddy.
- 31:19Speaker 9: Wednesday's my favorite day now!
- 31:21Speaker 7: See?
- 31:22Speaker 12: No fog machine needed.
- 31:23Speaker 11: Oh, man.
- 31:24Speaker 9: Kids eat free every Wednesday night at C & J Barbecue.
- 31:27Speaker 9: Great food, happy kids, C & J Barbecue. Because dinner
- 31:30Speaker 9: shouldn't be another battle.

- 32:34Speaker 19: Welcome into the High School Report. I'm Caleb Rapley, and
- 32:37Speaker 19: today we are jumping out to the Polaris Fun Center
- 32:39Speaker 19: phone line to visit with the head coach of the
- 32:42Speaker 19: Iola Bulldogs football team, Mr.
- 32:45Speaker 18: Eric Blunden.
- 32:46Speaker 19: Coach, thanks for joining me today.
- 32:47Speaker 3: Appreciate you having me. Yes, sir.
- 32:50Speaker 19: Well, we are into the thick of the high school
- 32:54Speaker 19: football season here in Texas. Week one in the books
- 32:58Speaker 19: now officially. And for your Iowa Bulldogs, the first season
- 33:02Speaker 19: of a new era of Iowa football moving up from
- 33:05Speaker 19: 2A Division II up to 2A Division I. Started the
- 33:09Speaker 19: season off last weekend, unfortunately taking the loss to Buffalo,
- 33:12Speaker 19: a 3A school. But how is this offseason for you, Coach?
- 33:16Speaker 19: And how are you handling this transition moving up from
- 33:19Speaker 19: D2 to D1?
- 33:21Speaker 3: Yeah, it's been kind of a, you know, not a
- 33:23Speaker 3: normal transition most schools take from, you know, a smaller
- 33:27Speaker 3: division to a bigger division. I mean, we obviously have,
- 33:30Speaker 3: you know, some more kids in our enrollment than we did,
- 33:33Speaker 3: you know, the previous years. But, you know, we graduated
- 33:38Speaker 3: a gigantic, heavy senior class last year on a pretty
- 33:41Speaker 3: successful team. And, you know, we are very young this year.
- 33:44Speaker 3: So it makes it kind of a double whammy when
- 33:47Speaker 3: you're already young and now you're young and moving up. Now,
- 33:50Speaker 3: nobody's going to feel sorry for us, so we can't
- 33:53Speaker 3: sit around and say, oh, we're going to figure it out.
- 33:55Speaker 3: But the kids are doing a great job of kind
- 33:58Speaker 3: of learning on the job here, and we're just going
- 34:02Speaker 3: to have to keep getting better every week. That's really
- 34:05Speaker 3: all these first couple of games are for anyways before
- 34:08Speaker 3: you get to the start of district play. We've just
- 34:11Speaker 3: got to find a way to individually get better, which
- 34:14Speaker 3: in turn makes all.
- 34:15Speaker 18: Of us better.
- 34:16Speaker 19: So you were dropped into District 14 to a Division 1,
- 34:20Speaker 19: so staying in Region 4. But this district, I'm not
- 34:23Speaker 19: going to say it's a weak district, but these are
- 34:25Speaker 19: a lot of teams that had a lot of players
- 34:27Speaker 19: graduate this past season. I really think that there is
- 34:30Speaker 19: a pretty big opportunity for your Bulldogs. So what are
- 34:33Speaker 19: your thoughts on who some of the biggest contenders are?
- 34:37Speaker 19: I know Centerville is a perennial power, but they started
- 34:40Speaker 19: off their season with a loss as well. So what
- 34:42Speaker 19: do you think about the landscape of District 14?
- 34:45Speaker 3: I think from the outside looking in, you know, on paper,
- 34:49Speaker 3: it looks like it's pretty wide open and, you know,
- 34:51Speaker 3: I wouldn't disagree with that. But, you know, Centerville is
- 34:55Speaker 3: one of those teams that's, you know, they're always going
- 34:58Speaker 3: to be good. They've been good for the last 15,
- 35:00Speaker 3: 20 years and they're going to figure it out. And,
- 35:03Speaker 3: you know, Leon had a very great year, you know,
- 35:05Speaker 3: last year, you know, graduated a bunch of guys, but
- 35:08Speaker 3: they're still pretty senior heavy. And, you know, you start
- 35:11Speaker 3: looking down the line, you know, the Corgan Camden and
- 35:14Speaker 3: Love Lady and, and growth in it and people like that,
- 35:18Speaker 3: you know, and, and you go back and look at
- 35:20Speaker 3: their history, they're all pretty successful football programs. So, you know, there's, there's,
- 35:26Speaker 3: you know, I think every week's kind of a, you know,
- 35:29Speaker 3: you're going to have to look up in our district
- 35:30Speaker 3: and say, all right, who beat who? Because I think
- 35:32Speaker 3: they're all going to be very competitive games. I don't
- 35:35Speaker 3: think there's necessarily a front runner like some of the
- 35:38Speaker 3: other districts that you can probably look at, but, you know,
- 35:41Speaker 3: it should be a wild and kind of wacky ride
- 35:43Speaker 3: for the, you know, when we get to that part
- 35:45Speaker 3: of the schedule for everybody, just because there is a
- 35:49Speaker 3: lot of unknowns, you know, for everybody. And so, you know,
- 35:52Speaker 3: it's going to be all about who can get, you know,
- 35:54Speaker 3: their team the best ready to play in the next
- 35:56Speaker 3: four weeks. And, And then, you know, hopefully you're healthy
- 35:59Speaker 3: going into a Friday night. I think this is a
- 36:02Speaker 3: very competitive district. I think, you know, whoever gets in
- 36:05Speaker 3: one through four, I think they're all going to have
- 36:07Speaker 3: chances to win a playoff game.
- 36:09Speaker 19: So you mentioned a pretty young squad for the Bulldogs
- 36:12Speaker 19: this year. Who are some players that have stepped up,
- 36:15Speaker 19: some younger players, to fill the holes that were left
- 36:18Speaker 19: by those graduating seniors?
- 36:19Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, we graduated our whole offensive line, and
- 36:24Speaker 3: I don't care if you're in– Six man or if
- 36:26Speaker 3: you're up in 6A, you graduate a whole offensive line.
- 36:32Speaker 3: That's usually the place that comes together. It takes the
- 36:36Speaker 3: most time to come together because it's so important. I
- 36:38Speaker 3: don't care what kind of offense you're running. We've had
- 36:41Speaker 3: a couple guys step up there. Jack Smith has done
- 36:44Speaker 3: a great job of doing anything and everything we've asked
- 36:47Speaker 3: him to do. Leighton Bailey has done a great job
- 36:50Speaker 3: of stepping up on that offensive line. And, you know,
- 36:54Speaker 3: on the back end, you know, we got a first
- 36:55Speaker 3: year sophomore starter quarterback and, you know, playing quarterbacks hard.
- 37:00Speaker 3: You know, if it was easy, every NFL team would
- 37:03Speaker 3: have a really good quarterback and they wouldn't switch every
- 37:05Speaker 3: two years. And so that's a position that. you just,
- 37:08Speaker 3: you have to play it to get better at it.
- 37:11Speaker 3: And there's a lot of things he hasn't seen yet,
- 37:13Speaker 3: but he's doing a good job. And that's Colton Sajewski.
- 37:15Speaker 3: You know, he's doing a great job of kind of
- 37:17Speaker 3: learning on the fly here as well. So it's just,
- 37:20Speaker 3: you know, one of those things where I think we're
- 37:22Speaker 3: going to see gigantic leaps and bounds over the next
- 37:25Speaker 3: two or three games with our team, because there's a
- 37:28Speaker 3: lot of stuff they just haven't seen yet. And the
- 37:30Speaker 3: only way to see it is get out there and
- 37:32Speaker 3: play and make mistakes that learn from them and don't
- 37:34Speaker 3: do them again the next week.
- 37:36Speaker 19: One of the most impactful players from last season is
- 37:41Speaker 19: on the team in 2026, running back Adrian Garrett, the
- 37:44Speaker 19: centerpiece of the offense last year as he ran for 1,200 yards,
- 37:48Speaker 19: 15 touchdowns. How impactful is it to have a player
- 37:51Speaker 19: like that returning when a team is this young? How
- 37:54Speaker 19: big of a difference can that one player make?
- 37:58Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, we're asking a lot of him, you know, because,
- 38:02Speaker 3: you know, last year, you know, we had three guys
- 38:05Speaker 3: all get close to over 1,000 yards rushing football. And
- 38:09Speaker 3: so teams kind of had to, you know, they kind
- 38:12Speaker 3: of had to do something besides just watch one guy.
- 38:15Speaker 3: And our offensive line, like I said, was senior heavy
- 38:18Speaker 3: last year, so they can move a lot of people.
- 38:19Speaker 3: And so this year, everything's kind of, you know, everybody's
- 38:23Speaker 3: looking at him, not only us, but the other team
- 38:25Speaker 3: as well. And, you know, those holes may not be
- 38:28Speaker 3: as big as they were, you know, like they were
- 38:30Speaker 3: last year. So, you know, we're relying on him to
- 38:33Speaker 3: kind of, you know, anchor us down, if you will,
- 38:36Speaker 3: you know, especially here early until we can kind of
- 38:39Speaker 3: figure out who our next kind of playmaker is going
- 38:41Speaker 3: to be. And, you know, hopefully we can get him
- 38:44Speaker 3: going this Friday and continue after the season. But he's
- 38:48Speaker 3: done a great job of, of kind of leading those
- 38:50Speaker 3: younger guys and not getting frustrated with certain things, but
- 38:54Speaker 3: trying to do it the correct way. So we need
- 38:57Speaker 3: him to be a big piece for us to be successful.
- 38:59Speaker 19: Second week of non-district play on tap here Friday night,
- 39:03Speaker 19: going on the road to play Cypress Christian. So what
- 39:07Speaker 19: do you expect to see from them?
- 39:08Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, the funny thing about the tap schools
- 39:12Speaker 3: this year is They actually started a week ahead of us.
- 39:15Speaker 3: So this is their third game. So, you know, they're
- 39:18Speaker 3: kind of a game up on us, you know, as
- 39:20Speaker 3: far as experience, which right now, you know, like we
- 39:23Speaker 3: alluded to, you know, every every snap is so important
- 39:26Speaker 3: for us right now. You know, they they were very
- 39:28Speaker 3: successful last year. You know, they, they've had a good
- 39:31Speaker 3: kind of program in the taps division in Texas. And,
- 39:36Speaker 3: you know, they, they do a good job of slinging
- 39:37Speaker 3: the ball around and, and, It's kind of the exact
- 39:40Speaker 3: opposite of what we played this past week where Buffalo
- 39:43Speaker 3: was coming right at us. Cypress Christian is going to
- 39:46Speaker 3: throw the ball a little bit more. It'll be a
- 39:48Speaker 3: good test for our young guys on the back end
- 39:50Speaker 3: to kind of see something different than they saw the
- 39:52Speaker 3: week before. Anytime you go on the road, it's hard
- 39:56Speaker 3: to win. This is kind of the first time for
- 39:59Speaker 3: any of these guys to really go on the road
- 40:01Speaker 3: on a Friday night. And, you know, it's going to
- 40:04Speaker 3: be a great opportunity for us to kind of evaluate
- 40:07Speaker 3: the other parts of our team that didn't get a
- 40:09Speaker 3: lot of action the other day. So, you know, hopefully
- 40:12Speaker 3: we use it as a learning experience, however it goes,
- 40:15Speaker 3: win or loss, and learn from it and move on.
- 40:18Speaker 19: Yeah, I know you like to keep it one game
- 40:20Speaker 19: at a time, but next week is also a very
- 40:24Speaker 19: intriguing matchup as you take on your former district bunkmate,
- 40:28Speaker 19: the Burton Panthers. beat them 37 to 36 last year
- 40:31Speaker 19: so i know that's going to be a pretty intense
- 40:34Speaker 19: game uh that's something you were happy about being able
- 40:37Speaker 19: to schedule one of your former district bunk mates in
- 40:39Speaker 19: a non-district play.
- 40:41Speaker 3: Yeah you know coach over there burton's been doing it
- 40:43Speaker 3: for a long time and burton you know they've had
- 40:46Speaker 3: a you know rich history in in football and and
- 40:50Speaker 3: uh you know they they got a very you know
- 40:52Speaker 3: they returned a lot of guys from that team from
- 40:54Speaker 3: last year so you know they're going to be pretty
- 40:56Speaker 3: good and And they're kind of a unique opportunity to
- 40:59Speaker 3: play somebody that you're kind of used to a little bit.
- 41:03Speaker 3: You've kind of been playing each other, you know, all
- 41:06Speaker 3: the way up from junior high to now. And, you know,
- 41:09Speaker 3: it'll be a good test for us because, you know,
- 41:12Speaker 3: their team, like I said, is very senior heavy. You know,
- 41:16Speaker 3: but it'll be good to kind of keep that thing going.
- 41:20Speaker 3: And if nothing more, just because I know how well
- 41:23Speaker 3: they're coached and how hard they play. And that was
- 41:26Speaker 3: kind of the whole, thought process with our non-district slate.
- 41:32Speaker 3: All four teams we played are playing in non-district, are
- 41:35Speaker 3: either bigger than us or all went, made it to
- 41:39Speaker 3: the playoffs last year. So we went with kind of
- 41:41Speaker 3: the theory of, hey, we're going to see the best
- 41:44Speaker 3: early on, so we make sure we're ready for whenever
- 41:47Speaker 3: district rolls around.
- 41:48Speaker 19: All right, Coach. Well, I appreciate your time today and
- 41:50Speaker 19: good luck this season.
- 41:51Speaker 3: I appreciate it. Go Dawgs.

- 45:05Speaker 4: The Houston Astros were victorious last night against the White Sox,
- 45:08Speaker 4: winning 2-0. The game was a stalemate throughout as the
- 45:11Speaker 4: teams were knotted at zero entering the eighth inning. But
- 45:14Speaker 4: in the bottom of the eighth, the Astros broke through,
- 45:16Speaker 4: playing two runs on a Nelson Velasquez double.
- 45:20Speaker 6: There it is.
- 45:21Speaker 19: Smoke to center for a base hit.

- 46:29Speaker 5: I'd have to be crazy to stop all my singing
- 46:35Speaker 5: and never play music again.
- 46:41Speaker 7: You'd call me a fool if I grabbed up the
- 46:44Speaker 7: top hat and ran out to flag down the wind.
- 46:52Speaker 6: I'd have to be weird.
- 46:55Speaker 9: To grow me a beard.
- 46:58Speaker 5: Just to see what the rednecks would do. But it'd
- 47:04Speaker 5: have to be crazy to.
- 47:06Speaker 7: Plot out my mind To fall.
- 47:10Speaker 15: Out of love with.
- 47:15Speaker 5: You I know I've done weird things I've told people
- 47:22Speaker 5: I heard things When silence was all that abounds Been
- 47:30Speaker 5: days when it pleased me to be on my knees.
- 47:35Speaker 7: Following ants as they crawl across the ground Been insane
- 47:42Speaker 7: on a train, but I'm still me again And.
- 47:47Speaker 5: The place where I hold you is true So I
- 47:53Speaker 5: know I'm alright Cause it'd have to be crazy to
- 47:59Speaker 5: fall out Welcome back.
- 48:03Speaker 1: So that first voice you hear is Stephen Frumholz. And
- 48:29Speaker 1: the story is that this is a Stephen Frumholtz song
- 48:33Speaker 1: and Willie didn't know all the words. And so Frumholtz
- 48:37Speaker 1: was singing them and Willie was following. And at the end,
- 48:42Speaker 1: the producer said, OK, now, Willie, you go ahead. We'll
- 48:46Speaker 1: take that Frumholtz out. Willie said, no, no, no, no, no.
- 48:49Speaker 1: We're leaving Steve Frumholtz in this record. And that record
- 48:55Speaker 1: made Steve Frumholtz a lot of money. and introduced him
- 48:59Speaker 1: to a whole wider audience when that song came out.
- 49:05Speaker 1: As I mentioned earlier in the show, I saw Stephen
- 49:09Speaker 1: Frumholtz sing that song with Stephen Stills back in 1972.
- 49:16Speaker 1: I'm telling you all this in case you missed it
- 49:22Speaker 1: because I went to the preview of The Man with
- 49:26Speaker 1: the Big Hat last night, the documentary by filmmaker Austin Sayre,
- 49:32Speaker 1: which hopefully will get into wide release.
- 49:36Speaker 3: It was.
- 49:38Speaker 1: won Best Documentary at the San Antonio Film Festival. It
- 49:41Speaker 1: was debuted at South by Southwest in March, and it
- 49:44Speaker 1: was played last night on the A & M campus
- 49:47Speaker 1: with Lyle Lovett because he is a big part of
- 49:51Speaker 1: that documentary. Okay, let's hear a little bit from Skip Schumacher,
- 50:00Speaker 1: who tries to explain the loss of to the terrible
- 50:04Speaker 1: Oakland A's yesterday. He will talk about Cody Bradford, who
- 50:09Speaker 1: was awful, the fact that they got a lead, which
- 50:14Speaker 1: this season they've been almost unbeatable with a lead. They
- 50:17Speaker 1: hit two home runs. And then he'll talk about the
- 50:21Speaker 1: fact that they gave up eight unanswered runs in the third, fourth,
- 50:25Speaker 1: and fifth inning.
- 50:27Speaker 17: I evaluated as we had a good series, and we
- 50:29Speaker 17: won two out of three. We would have liked to
- 50:32Speaker 17: have won today, but, you know, two out of three
- 50:34Speaker 17: was a good start to a homestand, and obviously we
- 50:39Speaker 17: have a tough series ahead of us, so, you know,
- 50:42Speaker 17: it was important to win the series at least. Yeah,
- 50:44Speaker 17: Cody's fastball at the top got hit, you know, a
- 50:48Speaker 17: couple home runs, you know, middle up, opposite field, and
- 50:52Speaker 17: then obviously a poolside home run, and Some longer counts,
- 50:56Speaker 17: 85 pitches through four, so had to get them out
- 50:59Speaker 17: of there, try to keep us within striking distance, and,
- 51:02Speaker 17: you know, unfortunately they hit another home run, so just
- 51:06Speaker 17: couldn't really stop the bleeding. But, yeah, six of the seven,
- 51:11Speaker 17: you know, hard hits were off the fastball at the top,
- 51:13Speaker 17: and just, you know, kind of the location was the
- 51:16Speaker 17: issue today. Thought we were going to, you know, come out,
- 51:21Speaker 17: obviously with Duran hitting the home run to lead off
- 51:23Speaker 17: the game was, you know, great to see and I
- 51:26Speaker 17: thought we were just going to keep continuing to add
- 51:28Speaker 17: on and Foscue hit another home run and then just
- 51:31Speaker 17: had trouble with the cutter and the slider after that
- 51:33Speaker 17: with Lopez so yeah overall just kind of tough game
- 51:37Speaker 17: got to flush it quick to be ready tomorrow. Yeah
- 51:40Speaker 17: very similar I think they have really good starting pitching
- 51:43Speaker 17: a very good back end bullpen and bullpen in general
- 51:48Speaker 17: and you know they have an MVP candidate at third
- 51:50Speaker 17: base with then they played some small ball with some
- 51:53Speaker 17: speed so I think their run prevention is what makes
- 51:57Speaker 17: them really good as well. I mean, they're flying around
- 51:59Speaker 17: the outfield and catching everything. So their record is their
- 52:03Speaker 17: record for a reason. They pitch and play defense first
- 52:06Speaker 17: and foremost with some ways to beat you on the
- 52:08Speaker 17: offensive side. So we have just played a similar team.
- 52:11Speaker 17: We played Tampa Bay not that long ago, right after
- 52:15Speaker 17: the break as well. So we have an idea. But, yeah,
- 52:17Speaker 17: it's going to be a fun series, and I'm looking
- 52:20Speaker 17: forward to seeing what it looks like tomorrow.
- 52:22Speaker 1: Yeah, we're all looking forward to what it looks like
- 52:26Speaker 1: with the Tampa Bay Rays coming in. Tampa's maybe the
- 52:32Speaker 1: best team in the American League, actually.
- 52:37Speaker 6: They're really good.
- 52:41Speaker 1: I got to see them when they hosted the Rangers,
- 52:44Speaker 1: and the Rangers actually won a game in Tampa last
- 52:50Speaker 1: unfortunately they play four games this series.
- 52:53Speaker 6: That's the bad news. The good news is they're at home.
- 52:57Speaker 1: Where they've been a little bit better, but this is
- 53:02Speaker 1: nothing more than a barely 500 team. And every time
- 53:05Speaker 1: they try to get back to 500, they lose. Uh, honestly,
- 53:10Speaker 1: I mean, it would be a huge deal if the
- 53:15Speaker 1: Rangers could split this four game series. Um, There are
- 53:21Speaker 1: 22 games left in the regular season. But who's counting?
- 53:27Speaker 1: There's 22 games left in the regular season.
- 53:33Speaker 11: Now, look.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Now, we're not going to play Joe Espada because that
- 53:37Speaker 1: was from last night, and they've already won again today.
- 53:41Speaker 6: Did they sweep? They took three out of four from
- 53:44Speaker 6: the White Sox?
- 53:45Speaker 3: Okay.
- 53:46Speaker 6: Man, that just sucks. And I have... Wait a minute.
- 53:53Speaker 6: I have an Astro cheat sheet.
- 53:58Speaker 3: No.
- 53:59Speaker 1: They've won two out of three. They played the White
- 54:01Speaker 1: Sox again. Oh, they played them this afternoon. That's what
- 54:04Speaker 1: this cheat sheet is for.
- 54:07Speaker 6: And what was it?
- 54:07Speaker 3: 6-2?
- 54:08Speaker 18: Yes.
- 54:09Speaker 6: Good God.
- 54:11Speaker 1: What has happened to the White Sox? Well, they look
- 54:14Speaker 1: great against the Rangers.
- 54:17Speaker 6: I mean, they.
- 54:18Speaker 1: They did fine against the Rangers. The Astros are 72-69.
- 54:24Speaker 1: So they're three games over. 500 right now.
- 54:26Speaker 6: They are 52-38 since May 22nd. And the Red Sox
- 54:28Speaker 6: are 53-38.
- 54:44Speaker 1: Which is the best record in the American League since
- 54:47Speaker 1: May 22nd. And the Yankees are third on that list. Now,
- 54:54Speaker 1: they haven't gotten Judge back yet, right? He hasn't played yet, right?
- 54:57Speaker 6: Okay.
- 55:01Speaker 1: The Yankees are up there. I really do think the
- 55:05Speaker 1: Rays are probably the best team. They're pretty loaded in
- 55:08Speaker 1: the bullpen. Their starting pitching isn't bad either.
- 55:12Speaker 6: They don't.
- 55:13Speaker 1: Crush the ball but it doesn't matter that they bunt
- 55:16Speaker 1: a lot because whatever their formula is they win and
- 55:22Speaker 1: i think they're pretty solid all right we're.
- 55:24Speaker 6: Going to take a break we'll close things out here.
- 55:27Speaker 1: In this hour uh brazos valley flooring and design i
- 55:32Speaker 1: was with brandon uh tuesday uh and right next door

- 57:11Speaker 10: The Louie Bellina Show presented by CC Electric.
- 57:14Speaker 6: You want me to make real thoughts?
- 57:15Speaker 3: Yeah, go.
- 57:16Speaker 22: It's a nothing burger.
- 57:18Speaker 6: It's a total nothing burger. Like he's a quarterback.
- 57:20Speaker 22: Who has lost two games. He's the leader of Texas
- 57:23Speaker 22: A & M. They put a mic, they put a
- 57:25Speaker 22: recorder in front of him, and you have to say something.
- 57:28Speaker 9: And you know what?
- 57:28Speaker 22: Who wants a quarterback that doesn't feel like that? Do
- 57:31Speaker 22: you want somebody to be like, well, actually, no.
- 57:33Speaker 6: I love the Manning camp, and I love hanging out
- 57:35Speaker 6: with Arch.
- 57:35Speaker 22: Like, no, forget that. Like, he's going to– hey, listen,
- 57:38Speaker 22: we don't like them. When I go to Austin, I
- 57:39Speaker 22: don't like the color, and I want to beat them.
- 57:41Speaker 22: And if he said anything else, people would be on
- 57:43Speaker 22: his back just as much, if not more. He said
- 57:46Speaker 22: exactly what a kid I would hope in this position
- 57:48Speaker 22: would say. Now what comes next is you– You cut
- 57:51Speaker 22: the check. Now you've got to write, and you've got
- 57:53Speaker 22: to finish it, and you've got to cash that check.
- 57:54Speaker 6: So I don't have any problem with it.
- 57:56Speaker 22: Not like this game needs any more intensity or it
- 57:58Speaker 22: needs any more drama. It's not like Texas and go, oh,
- 58:01Speaker 22: now we want to win. Texas isn't going to. Marcel
- 58:04Speaker 22: said this, so now we've got to go harder.
- 58:05Speaker 6: Hang out with Louie.
- 58:07Speaker 12: Weekdays 11 to 2 on the Zone 1150 AM and 93.7 FM.
- 58:21Speaker 5: It's late December, the new year's never coming.
- 58:24Speaker 1: This is another Steve Frumholtz song that John Denver did.
- 58:29Speaker 6: Stay with us.
- 58:31Speaker 1: The Clark Eisenhower Outdoor Edition is coming your way next.
