- 0:01Hey everyone, welcome back to Eye Opener Society and welcome back to this very
- 0:06first episode of a new series that I am doing and I'm going to take a moment
- 0:10to explain that I'm going to dive into it.
- 0:13I obviously as a podcaster follow, you know, statistics.
- 0:17I've never been too worried about getting thousands and thousands of listeners.
- 0:22I mean, to me, that's just ego.
- 0:24But I do follow it because like I said, I want to make sure I'm putting out
- 0:28a program that people are enjoying, and I can see that a lot of you are,
- 0:32and I cannot appreciate you enough for that.
- 0:36Like I said, the audience is always the best part of any podcast,
- 0:39just turning it on, listening, downloading.
- 0:41We appreciate that so much.
- 0:44But recently, myself, Lizzie, and Hannah Rose from The Sound Within,
- 0:49we recorded an episode that I thought was one of our best. And when I looked
- 0:53at those stats, it was the least viewed.
- 0:56And what I've come to the conclusion was the fact that it was 40 minutes long.
- 1:01And I know we've spoken about this before where people's attention span has
- 1:06been shortened and I blame social media.
- 1:10I know YouTube is going for the much shorter content and TikTok is strictly
- 1:15something just one to two minutes long. So I don't know.
- 1:19I'm a little disappointed. I
- 1:20know some of you have listened all the way through and I appreciate that.
- 1:24It's one thing if you just don't like the topic or if you just don't like us and I'm fine with that.
- 1:29You could find something else that's more enjoyable to you.
- 1:32But if it's too long, then I don't know, we're losing that sense of attention span.
- 1:40And it's becoming a little bit frustrating because sometimes there are things
- 1:44that are very important.
- 1:46And I think the topic that we covered was extremely important.
- 1:49So it just kind of made me think, hey, I'm going to change things up just a little bit.
- 1:54I'm going to do these sporadic little episodes and I'm going to sprinkle them
- 2:00out, you know, whenever I feel like putting them up onto the platform.
- 2:03However, they're going to be exclusive to Podbean listeners.
- 2:07If you don't have the app, you could always just go to podbean.com or go to
- 2:14iOpenerSociety.podbean.com and you could listen to the episodes right off the
- 2:20website itself or you could just download the app on the phone. It's free.
- 2:23I'm not charging anybody, but I'm going to make these exclusive only to Podbean
- 2:28people because 41% of our audience is on Podbean and I appreciate that very much.
- 2:35And this is just our little way of doing this for you. They're going to be solo episodes.
- 2:40I'm hoping as well that Lizzie can also do little solo episodes herself.
- 2:44This way we could break things up and give some fresh new ideas and perspectives.
- 2:48And I'm also hoping that maybe even Hannah Rose, Anne Lund, Sunset Child,
- 2:53and Elaine Arcane can also probably contribute to this because this is all for
- 2:56the collective and that's why I'm doing it.
- 2:58It's just smaller thoughts shoved into a five or 10 minute little talk series.
- 3:04That basically encourages you, inspires you.
- 3:08Hopefully you find something out of it. Because I've lately found that I think
- 3:12creativity, oh man, look at me.
- 3:16In the creative space that I have, I felt a little bit empty in these last few months.
- 3:23This month right now is October that we are in.
- 3:27And I've just, I've been very busy. I know I got a lot of things that are coming
- 3:31up on the weekends and all.
- 3:33So I'm trying to find space to record some episodes with Lizzie,
- 3:36but I've also found that I'm kind of void of any sort of real topic because
- 3:43I think every topic that's spoken about is important,
- 3:47but the creativity of people in general, you have that within you.
- 3:54It's one thing to listen to me, but it's another for me to listen to you.
- 3:59I always said it's very simple. And I think this is where the problem with short
- 4:03attention span. Everybody has a podcast.
- 4:06Anybody can do a podcast.
- 4:08You can do it for, you know, free on most platforms, or you can even just do it, you know, paid.
- 4:15If you want to reach a bigger audience, it doesn't take much, just takes a cell phone.
- 4:21You would be amazed of how much stuff that you have inside of you creatively
- 4:27that you can speak about. And it would be amazing for me to turn on Podbean
- 4:33and listen to you for a change.
- 4:35Find that creative spirit. Don't be so creatively empty.
- 4:40Now, speaking is one thing doing a podcast, but I mean, you could talk about
- 4:44your other creative styles, whether you're a musician, whether you are focused
- 4:49on artwork or whatever the case may be.
- 4:51If you're talking about it, then you.
- 4:54Becomes your creative inspiration, your spark, your desire, and you could share
- 5:00that with everybody else, or at least find it with those that match that creativity that you want.
- 5:07So this is about you, the audience, and how I feel when I speak to you.
- 5:14Like I said, if I'm only reaching one person, that's fine as well.
- 5:20It really excites me to do these podcasts for you, just simply because I've
- 5:25always been passionate for it.
- 5:27This is the longest hobby I've ever had and I'm just enjoying it.
- 5:31And I'm hoping that these little tinier five to 10 minute episodes can bring
- 5:38a little bit more of an audience as well to kind of expand Eye Opener Society.
- 5:44So I thank you for tuning into this and we're going to have more of these.
- 5:48And so just look out for them. Like I said, they'll be sprinkled about.
- 5:51I'll place them up at different times.
- 5:52But don't worry, our full-length episodes, which hopefully don't go longer than
- 5:5730 minutes with myself and Lizzie, they will continue to show up every Monday
- 6:03as normal, and they will be available everywhere.
- 6:06So, again, thank you for tuning in for this very first little quick episode,
- 6:09and look forward to more, and we look forward to you.
