Des Moines is set to host the nation’s largest youth multisport event, the AAU Junior Olympic Games, drawing 15,500 athletes and coaches and injecting $78 million into the local economy. Running July 28–August 8, the games feature 16 sports—from track and field to baton twirling—across venues like Drake Stadium, the YMCA, and the RecPlex. Day passes cost $20, full access is $50, and kids under 3 are free.
