- 0:26Darcy Happy AI try: You’ve filled out your Google Business Profile.
- 0:28Darcy Happy AI try: Hopefully you’ve selected your categories, added your services, uploaded photos, and started asking for reviews.
- 0:36Darcy Happy AI try: But when you look at Google Maps, you keep seeing other clinics ahead of you.
- 0:40Darcy Happy AI try: And you’re wondering,“What else am I supposed to do?” Well, one place worth looking is the website connected to that profile.
- 0:49Darcy Happy AI try: Because you can spend a lot of time updating your Google Business Profile while overlooking the information on the other end of that website button.
- 0:58Darcy Happy AI try: Does that page clearly explain what your clinic does?
- 1:01Darcy Happy AI try: Does it show the correct address?
- 1:04Darcy Happy AI try: Are the services you highlight on your profile actually explained on your website?
- 1:09Darcy Happy AI try: And are both giving people the same information?
- 1:12Darcy Happy AI try: That’s what we’re talking about today.
- 1:14Darcy Happy AI try: Hi, I’m Darcy Sullivan with Propel Marketing Design, and welcome to The Clinic Marketing Podcast, where we simplify digital marketing for chiropractors, physical therapists, acupuncturists, med spas, dentists, therapists, and other clinic owners so more of the right patients can find you.
- 1:35Darcy Happy AI try: Today’s episode is about your website’s role in Google Maps rankings—and the connection between your website and your Google Business Profile that’s easy to overlook.
- 1:46Darcy Happy AI try: Here’s how I like to think about it: your website and your profile are teammates.
- 1:51Darcy Happy AI try: Your profile introduces your clinic in Google Maps.
- 1:55Darcy Happy AI try: Your website gives you room to explain the practice in more detail.
- 1:59Darcy Happy AI try: If the profile introduces one version of your clinic and the website presents something different, that creates confusion.
- 2:07Darcy Happy AI try: Sometimes the differences are obvious, like two different addresses.
- 2:12Darcy Happy AI try: Sometimes they’re more subtle.
- 2:14Darcy Happy AI try: Your profile says physical therapy, but your website talks almost entirely about wellness and movement, without clearly explaining that you provide physical therapy.
- 2:25Darcy Happy AI try: Today, we’re going to put those two teammates side by side.
- 2:29Darcy Happy AI try: If you want the broader explanation of how Maps rankings work, listen to our episode,“Google Maps Rankings Explained: What Really Moves You Up.” I’ll link it in the show notes.
- 2:40Darcy Happy AI try: For today, remember that Google describes local rankings in terms of relevance, distance, and prominence.
- 2:48Darcy Happy AI try: Your website is part of your broader online presence, but it doesn’t remove the influence of distance or competition.
- 2:56Darcy Happy AI try: These checks can help you find gaps.
- 2:58Darcy Happy AI try: They aren’t a guarantee of a particular ranking.
- 3:01Darcy Happy AI try: Let’s start with the website button itself.
- 3:04Darcy Happy AI try: When someone finds your clinic in Google Maps and taps“Website,” where do they land?
- 3:10Darcy Happy AI try: Actually click it.
- 3:11Darcy Happy AI try: Don’t assume it goes where you think it does.
- 3:14Darcy Happy AI try: Maybe your website was redesigned.
- 3:17Darcy Happy AI try: Maybe you changed your domain.
- 3:19Darcy Happy AI try: Maybe you moved a location page, but the profile still points to the old address.
- 3:24Darcy Happy AI try: Start by making sure the link works and takes people to the right clinic.
- 3:29Darcy Happy AI try: For a single-location practice, your homepage may be a perfectly reasonable destination.
- 3:35Darcy Happy AI try: For a practice with several locations, a page dedicated to the location shown in the profile will often be more useful.
- 3:43Darcy Happy AI try: We’ve already covered location pages in other episodes, so I’ll link those resources rather than walk through that entire process here.
- 3:51Darcy Happy AI try: For now, look at the destination and ask: Would a person arriving from Maps immediately recognize this as the clinic they just clicked on?
- 4:01Darcy Happy AI try: Can they tell what kind of practice it is?
- 4:03Darcy Happy AI try: Can they tell where it is?
- 4:05Darcy Happy AI try: Imagine someone finds a physical therapy clinic in Maps, clicks through, and sees a large heading that says,“Discover Your Potential.” Or“Feel your best.
- 4:17Darcy Happy AI try: That might fit your brand.
- 4:19Darcy Happy AI try: But on its own, it doesn’t tell a new visitor what you offer.
- 4:23Darcy Happy AI try: You can keep that personality and add clarity.
- 4:26Darcy Happy AI try: “Physical therapy in insert name of your city to help you move with confidence” gives people much more useful information.
- 4:35Darcy Happy AI try: Also check the page title—the title associated with the page that often appears in the browser tab and may be used in search results.
- 4:44Darcy Happy AI try: If it only says“Home,” ask your website provider to make it more descriptive.
- 4:49Darcy Happy AI try: You don’t need to squeeze every service and nearby city into it.
- 4:54Darcy Happy AI try: Just describe the page accurately.
- 4:56Darcy Happy AI try: The first check is straightforward: does the website link work, and does the destination clearly represent the clinic in the profile?
- 5:05Darcy Happy AI try: Next, does your website speak the same language as your profile?
- 5:09Darcy Happy AI try: This is one of the most useful comparisons you can make.
- 5:13Darcy Happy AI try: Open your Google Business Profile and look at how you describe your practice.
- 5:18Darcy Happy AI try: Then look at your homepage and services.
- 5:21Darcy Happy AI try: Are you using language that helps someone understand they’re looking at the same business?
- 5:26Darcy Happy AI try: Let’s use a hypothetical example.
- 5:28Darcy Happy AI try: Your primary category describes you as a physical therapist.
- 5:33Darcy Happy AI try: Your profile lists physical therapy, sports rehabilitation, and dry needling.
- 5:39Darcy Happy AI try: But on your website, the practice is described as a“movement wellness studio.” Your services are called“restorative sessions” and“performance experiences.” There may be thoughtful branding behind those names.
- 5:53Darcy Happy AI try: But a person looking for physical therapy may not know what they mean.
- 5:57Darcy Happy AI try: You know the connection.
- 5:59Darcy Happy AI try: A first-time visitor may not.
- 6:01Darcy Happy AI try: Keep your branded language if it works for your practice, but pair it with plain descriptions.
- 6:08Darcy Happy AI try: Explain what the service is.
- 6:10Darcy Happy AI try: If a restorative session is a physical therapy appointment, say so.
- 6:14Darcy Happy AI try: If performance recovery includes sports rehabilitation, make that clear where it’s accurate.
- 6:20Darcy Happy AI try: This doesn’t mean copying your profile word for word onto your website.
- 6:25Darcy Happy AI try: It means making the relationship easy to understand.
- 6:29Darcy Happy AI try: And check for services that appear in only one place.
- 6:33Darcy Happy AI try: Maybe you introduced dry needling, added it to your profile, and never updated the website.
- 6:39Darcy Happy AI try: Or maybe you stopped offering a treatment, removed it from your website, and forgot it was still listed on Google.
- 6:46Darcy Happy AI try: Those are the kinds of gaps we want to catch.
- 6:48Darcy Happy AI try: For a practice with multiple locations, be particularly careful about availability.
- 6:55Darcy Happy AI try: A service offered at one office shouldn’t accidentally appear to be available at every office.
- 7:01Darcy Happy AI try: Here’s your question: If someone became interested in a service on your profile, could they find accurate information about that service on your website?
- 7:10Darcy Happy AI try: That brings us to the content itself.
- 7:12Darcy Happy AI try: Having the right words on the page is a start.
- 7:16Darcy Happy AI try: The page also needs to explain something useful.
- 7:19Darcy Happy AI try: A clinic website can say“chiropractic care,”“acupuncture,” or“physical therapy” repeatedly and still leave a visitor unsure about what the practice actually offers.
- 7:30Darcy Happy AI try: Look at the services you emphasize on your Google Business Profile.
- 7:34Darcy Happy AI try: Does your website explain those services in enough detail for a prospective patient to understand them?
- 7:41Darcy Happy AI try: Depending on the service, useful information might include: What the service involves.
- 7:47Darcy Happy AI try: Who provides it.
- 7:48Darcy Happy AI try: Which location offers it.
- 7:50Darcy Happy AI try: Who it may be appropriate for.
- 7:52Darcy Happy AI try: And what someone should expect when they contact you or attend a first appointment.
- 7:57Darcy Happy AI try: Keep that information accurate and have clinical content reviewed by an appropriately qualified person.
- 8:04Darcy Happy AI try: You don’t need to turn every page into a textbook.
- 8:08Darcy Happy AI try: You do need to answer the questions that help someone understand your practice.
- 8:13Darcy Happy AI try: For example, if your profile highlights sports rehabilitation, your website should do more than include those two words in a list.
- 8:21Darcy Happy AI try: Explain what sports rehabilitation means at your clinic.
- 8:25Darcy Happy AI try: Who provides it?
- 8:27Darcy Happy AI try: What kinds of patients do you work with?
- 8:29Darcy Happy AI try: Where is it available?
- 8:30Darcy Happy AI try: Specific information about your actual practice is much more helpful than a paragraph that could belong to any clinic anywhere.
- 8:39Darcy Happy AI try: We’ve covered how to organize service and condition pages in“Service vs.
- 8:43Darcy Happy AI try: Condition Pages,” and we’ve talked about the pages clinics need in“Website Pages That Make Google Send You the Right Patients.” I’ll link both.
- 8:53Darcy Happy AI try: Today’s task is to compare what you promote on your profile with what your website actually explains.
- 9:00Darcy Happy AI try: You may already have the right page.
- 9:02Darcy Happy AI try: It may simply need an update.
- 9:04Darcy Happy AI try: Now let’s check the basics: your name, address, and phone number.
- 9:09Darcy Happy AI try: You may hear marketers call this NAP.
- 9:13Darcy Happy AI try: That’s all it stands for: name, address, phone number.
- 9:17Darcy Happy AI try: Compare the information on your Google Business Profile with your website.
- 9:21Darcy Happy AI try: Does the clinic name reflect the same real-world business?
- 9:25Darcy Happy AI try: Is the address current, including the suite number where needed?
- 9:29Darcy Happy AI try: Does the phone number reach the right office?
- 9:32Darcy Happy AI try: Look beyond the contact page.
- 9:34Darcy Happy AI try: Check the footer at the bottom of your site.
- 9:37Darcy Happy AI try: Check location pages.
- 9:39Darcy Happy AI try: Check older sections that may have been carried over during a redesign.
- 9:43Darcy Happy AI try: Moving a clinic can leave behind more outdated information than you expect.
- 9:48Darcy Happy AI try: And put your address in ordinary, readable text.
- 9:52Darcy Happy AI try: If the only place it appears is inside a photo or a graphic, add a text version that people can read, copy, and use.
- 10:01Darcy Happy AI try: We have an episode about adding your address to your website footer, so I’ll include that in the show notes.
- 10:07Darcy Happy AI try: For today, I want you to focus on agreement.
- 10:10Darcy Happy AI try: Don’t get stuck worrying about“Road” being spelled out in one place and abbreviated in another.
- 10:17Darcy Happy AI try: Start with meaningful differences: the wrong street, a missing suite number that affects arrival, a disconnected phone number, or an old practice name.
- 10:27Darcy Happy AI try: If you intentionally use different numbers for tracking, have your marketing provider check that setup.
- 10:34Darcy Happy AI try: Don’t change it without understanding why it’s there.
- 10:38Darcy Happy AI try: Also compare your hours.
- 10:40Darcy Happy AI try: Hours aren’t part of the NAP abbreviation, but they’re part of the same patient experience.
- 10:46Darcy Happy AI try: If Google says you’re open until six and your website says five, a prospective patient has to decide which one to trust.
- 10:55Darcy Happy AI try: Make that decision unnecessary.
- 10:57Darcy Happy AI try: Let’s talk about the map on your website.
- 11:00Darcy Happy AI try: An embedded Google Map can be useful on your contact or location page.
- 11:05Darcy Happy AI try: It helps visitors recognize where you are, explore the surrounding area, and get directions.
- 11:11Darcy Happy AI try: But check which map you’ve embedded.
- 11:14Darcy Happy AI try: Does it show your actual clinic listing?
- 11:16Darcy Happy AI try: Or as we often see does it simply point to an address without clearly identifying the business?
- 11:23Darcy Happy AI try: If it points to an old location—or a similarly named business—you’ll want to correct that.
- 11:30Darcy Happy AI try: You or your website provider can find the clinic’s listing in Google Maps and use the sharing options to embed the appropriate map.
- 11:38Darcy Happy AI try: Then test it.
- 11:39Darcy Happy AI try: Does the business name look right?
- 11:41Darcy Happy AI try: Is the location correct?
- 11:43Darcy Happy AI try: Can someone use it to get directions to the intended office?
- 11:47Darcy Happy AI try: Keep the written address on the page, too.
- 11:50Darcy Happy AI try: The map complements that information.
- 11:52Darcy Happy AI try: And add practical details that a map may not explain.
- 11:56Darcy Happy AI try: Is the entrance around the side of the building?
- 11:59Darcy Happy AI try: Are you on the second floor?
- 12:01Darcy Happy AI try: Is there a particular parking area patients should use?
- 12:04Darcy Happy AI try: Those details can make a first visit easier.
- 12:08Darcy Happy AI try: Now, I want to be clear about the ranking claim here: embedding a map isn’t a guaranteed way to move up in Google Maps.
- 12:16Darcy Happy AI try: Include it because it accurately connects visitors with your location and makes the page more useful.
- 12:23Darcy Happy AI try: It’s one part of presenting your clinic clearly.
- 12:26Darcy Happy AI try: Next is a small behind-the-scenes item called schema.
- 12:30Darcy Happy AI try: Stay with me.
- 12:31Darcy Happy AI try: This will be brief.
- 12:32Darcy Happy AI try: Schema is a way to organize information on your website so search engines can read what that information represents.
- 12:40Darcy Happy AI try: Think of it as a labeled information card.
- 12:43Darcy Happy AI try: “This is our business name.”“This is our address.”“These are our hours.”“This is the kind of business we operate.” You don’t need to learn code or add it yourself.
- 12:56Darcy Happy AI try: The useful question for your website provider is:“Do we have appropriate business schema on our website, and is the information accurate?” That’s it.
- 13:06Darcy Happy AI try: When we work with clients, we set this up for them.
- 13:09Darcy Happy AI try: What I don’t want you to do is take away the idea that every single page should include crazy schema code behind it to improve your rankings.
- 13:18Darcy Happy AI try: Nor do I personally want you adding this code.
- 13:21Darcy Happy AI try: Just simply ask the person who handles your website.
- 13:24Darcy Happy AI try: If you moved, changed your phone number, or updated your hours, ask whether that information has been updated behind the scenes as well.
- 13:33Darcy Happy AI try: It should agree with what visitors can see on the website.
- 13:37Darcy Happy AI try: And to be very clear, schema doesn’t replace clear content or an accurate Google Business Profile.
- 13:44Darcy Happy AI try: It also doesn’t guarantee higher Maps rankings.
- 13:48Darcy Happy AI try: It’s a way of labeling information you should already be presenting accurately.
- 13:53Darcy Happy AI try: That’s your entire schema assignment: ask whether it’s there, whether it’s appropriate, and whether it’s current.
- 14:00Darcy Happy AI try: There’s one more check worth making, especially after a website redesign.
- 14:05Darcy Happy AI try: Can Google access your important pages?
- 14:08Darcy Happy AI try: A page can look fine to you and still have a setting that prevents it from being included in Google Search.
- 14:15Darcy Happy AI try: You don’t need to diagnose that yourself.
- 14:17Darcy Happy AI try: Ask your website provider to confirm that your main pages are accessible to Google and aren’t accidentally excluded from search.
- 14:26Darcy Happy AI try: Also ask them to check the page connected to your Google Business Profile for broken links or unnecessary redirects.
- 14:33Darcy Happy AI try: This is particularly useful after a domain change, a rebrand, or a move.
- 14:39Darcy Happy AI try: I wouldn’t use one unsuccessful Google search as proof that a page is blocked.
- 14:44Darcy Happy AI try: Your provider can check more directly using Google Search Console.
- 14:48Darcy Happy AI try: On your side, you can do a simple patient check.
- 14:52Darcy Happy AI try: Open the profile on your phone, tap the website button, and follow the page.
- 14:57Darcy Happy AI try: Does it load?
- 14:59Darcy Happy AI try: Can you read the information?
- 15:01Darcy Happy AI try: Does anything cover the address or phone number?
- 15:04Darcy Happy AI try: Can you reach the correct appointment page?
- 15:07Darcy Happy AI try: These checks matter because you want people who find you to be able to contact you.
- 15:12Darcy Happy AI try: That’s a different question from whether a particular change improves your Maps position.
- 15:17Darcy Happy AI try: A working booking button helps you make use of the visibility you already have.
- 15:23Darcy Happy AI try: We’ve covered that journey in“Why Patients Leave Your Clinic Website Without Booking an Appointment,” so I’ll link that resource if you want to go deeper.
- 15:32Darcy Happy AI try: Let’s bring this together with a fifteen-minute website-and-profile check.
- 15:36Darcy Happy AI try: The goal is to find gaps.
- 15:39Darcy Happy AI try: Some fixes may take longer.
- 15:41Darcy Happy AI try: Start with your Google Business Profile and follow its website link.
- 15:45Darcy Happy AI try: First: does it take you to the correct, working page?
- 15:50Darcy Happy AI try: Second: does that page clearly explain what kind of clinic you are and where you’re located?
- 15:56Darcy Happy AI try: Third: do the website and profile describe your practice and services in language that makes sense together?
- 16:04Darcy Happy AI try: Fourth: can someone find useful, current information about the services you highlight?
- 16:10Darcy Happy AI try: Fifth: do your clinic name, address, phone number, and hours agree?
- 16:15Darcy Happy AI try: Sixth: does the embedded map show the correct clinic, alongside a readable address?
- 16:21Darcy Happy AI try: Seventh: have you asked your website provider whether your business schema is accurate and whether Google can access the important pages?
- 16:30Darcy Happy AI try: And finally: can a person coming from Maps easily contact the right office or request an appointment?
- 16:37Darcy Happy AI try: Write down anything that doesn’t line up.
- 16:40Darcy Happy AI try: Then prioritize it.
- 16:42Darcy Happy AI try: An old address or broken website link deserves immediate attention.
- 16:47Darcy Happy AI try: A missing explanation of a service may become your next content update.
- 16:52Darcy Happy AI try: A schema question can go to your website provider.
- 16:55Darcy Happy AI try: You don’t have to rebuild your whole website to start making progress.
- 17:00Darcy Happy AI try: You need to identify where the information has drifted apart and bring it back into agreement.
- 17:06Darcy Happy AI try: That’s what I want you to take away from this episode.
- 17:09Darcy Happy AI try: When you’re reviewing your Google Maps presence, follow the website link.
- 17:13Darcy Happy AI try: Look at the page it opens.
- 17:15Darcy Happy AI try: Compare the information.
- 17:17Darcy Happy AI try: Check whether it represents the clinic you’re promoting today.
- 17:20Darcy Happy AI try: Your profile and your website should work together to help people understand who you are, what you offer, and where to find you.
- 17:29Darcy Happy AI try: Clear, useful information gives prospective patients a better foundation for choosing your practice.
- 17:35Darcy Happy AI try: And it supports a stronger online presence without relying on a single trick or ranking promise.
- 17:42Darcy Happy AI try: Your patients are looking for you.
- 17:45Darcy Happy AI try: Help them recognize the right clinic when they find it.
