- 0:13Speaker 1: Hello, beautiful beans, and welcome to this focused episode. So
- 0:17Speaker 1: this focused episode is an extract from one of my
- 0:20Speaker 1: older episodes, just to bring it to the forefront and
- 0:23Speaker 1: remind you of for topic that is really important that
- 0:25Speaker 1: I've spoken about in the past. If you would like
- 0:27Speaker 1: to hear the entire episode, just click on the link
- 0:31Speaker 1: in the show notes and it will take you to
- 0:32Speaker 1: the full episode.
- 0:33Speaker 2: I hope you enjoyed, Dunker. Another reason why it should
- 0:39Speaker 2: matter is because of this idea of compounding interest. If
- 0:42Speaker 2: you do an action, and I've spoken about this when
- 0:44Speaker 2: we do, when I talk about habits and rituals and
- 0:47Speaker 2: why they're so important to absolutely transform your life. But
- 0:49Speaker 2: when you do an action, if you do it again
- 0:51Speaker 2: and again and again, these tiny actions, it compounds. It's
- 0:55Speaker 2: not like, oh, this little tiny action is then independent
- 0:58Speaker 2: to the other tiny action you do the next day. No,
- 1:00Speaker 2: they start to add up, add up. And not only
- 1:03Speaker 2: do they add up, but the benefits that you get
- 1:05Speaker 2: start compounding like interest, and the benefits get bigger and
- 1:09Speaker 2: bigger and bigger. So that's why it should matter. Now,
- 1:11Speaker 2: that's why you should be listening to this, and that's
- 1:13Speaker 2: why you should be paying attention, thinking Okay, I have
- 1:15Speaker 2: to put this into practice today, because if I maximize
- 1:18Speaker 2: my potential today, it's going to be better than if
- 1:20Speaker 2: I waited ten years. But if you did wait ten years,
- 1:22Speaker 2: then fucking maximize it then there. Okay. Next thing I
- 1:26Speaker 2: want to talk about is why is it that people
- 1:28Speaker 2: don't maximize their potential. The main reason is because they
- 1:33Speaker 2: don't know what they want in their life. Okay, and
- 1:35Speaker 2: they have well there's two things. Number one, they don't
- 1:38Speaker 2: know what they want or they don't know what their
- 1:39Speaker 2: purpose is. And another really big one is that they
- 1:42Speaker 2: have a huge lack of self belief. So they might
- 1:45Speaker 2: have an idea of what they want, but they don't
- 1:47Speaker 2: think that they're able to do it. They just don't.
- 1:49Speaker 2: They don't trust in themselves. They haven't ever had support externally,
- 1:52Speaker 2: so they think I can't support myself if I've never
- 1:54Speaker 2: received it externally, or they just don't know, you know,
- 1:58Speaker 2: if they have the intelligence, they just don't back soelves basically,
- 2:00Speaker 2: so they don't do anything about it. And before I
- 2:04Speaker 2: get into what you actually can be doing, I want
- 2:06Speaker 2: to talk about also what happens when you do maximize
- 2:11Speaker 2: your potential, you actually learn what you want and what
- 2:15Speaker 2: your purpose is by doing Okay, so I'm going to
- 2:18Speaker 2: talk about those points in a second. But when you
- 2:21Speaker 2: do things which I'll be teaching you how to do
- 2:24Speaker 2: in one second, when you do these things that are
- 2:25Speaker 2: going to help you maximize your potential in your life
- 2:28Speaker 2: in every area, you actually start to realize more and
- 2:32Speaker 2: more and more of what you want and what you're
- 2:33Speaker 2: passionate about. Okay, the more you sit around, the harder
- 2:36Speaker 2: it's going to get, the harder it's going to be
- 2:39Speaker 2: for you to formulate an idea of what you love
- 2:41Speaker 2: or what you're passionate about. Okay, we think that if
- 2:44Speaker 2: we start doing something, a lot of people have this
- 2:47Speaker 2: fucked up conception, like this idea that, Oh but if
- 2:51Speaker 2: I start doing that and I go too far down
- 2:52Speaker 2: the track, well then I've lost time. So I might
- 2:55Speaker 2: as well not bother investing time in that because I'm
- 2:57Speaker 2: not truly passionate about it, So I won't even start.
- 2:59Speaker 2: I'm just going to sit here and fucking wait till
- 3:01Speaker 2: something lands in my love that I adore, then I'll
- 3:04Speaker 2: follow that. That's not how it fucking works. Firstly, if
- 3:07Speaker 2: you found something that you were interested and you went
- 3:09Speaker 2: down that track, and you followed it and it didn't
- 3:11Speaker 2: work out, It wasn't a waste of time. And I
- 3:13Speaker 2: can guarantee you you either met someone, you learned something,
- 3:16Speaker 2: or you got a good memory out of it. Some
- 3:18Speaker 2: you had experiences that have now this is that compounding
- 3:22Speaker 2: interest have added to your life and helping steer you
- 3:25Speaker 2: in another direction if that wasn't the direction for you.
- 3:27Speaker 2: But a lot of people will sit there and be like, oh,
- 3:30Speaker 2: I could do that because I'm kind of interested, but
- 3:32Speaker 2: I don't love it, so I won't. So you would
- 3:34Speaker 2: rather not do something that you sent me interested in,
- 3:37Speaker 2: to sit in your ass and do fuck all with
- 3:39Speaker 2: your life. That's what a lot of people would rather do,
- 3:41Speaker 2: which is actually quite messed up. But people genuinely think
- 3:44Speaker 2: that things that they love and a passionate about are
- 3:46Speaker 2: going to land in their lap. Life doesn't work that way.
- 3:48Speaker 2: It doesn't fucking work that way.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Okay, Stop thinking that by making a decision or taking
- 4:14Speaker 3: a choice, you are cock blocking yourself.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Okay. It is always better, always better to have less
- 4:20Speaker 2: options that are good than endless options of which you
- 4:23Speaker 2: know nothing about. Okay. When you have endless options, it
- 4:27Speaker 2: is confusing, It is exhausting, and it is paralyzing. It
- 4:32Speaker 2: stops you from taking action because you're constantly like, oh, this, that,
- 4:35Speaker 2: And I have an episode all about you know, how
- 4:38Speaker 2: to make irreversible decisions and the importance of making a
- 4:42Speaker 2: decision where you can't you know, where you have less
- 4:44Speaker 2: options and why that is so beneficial. So that's all
- 4:47Speaker 2: in a decision making episode. So go check that one out.
- 4:50Speaker 2: So now I want to talk about things that you
- 4:52Speaker 2: can be doing already to start maximizing your potential. Now,
- 4:55Speaker 2: the first one I've kind of just touched on it
- 4:58Speaker 2: is less option. So we think that the key to
- 5:02Speaker 2: happiness is endless options, but it's not. It's having a
- 5:06Speaker 2: choice to stay or leave is the key to happiness.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Independence is the key to happiness in the sense that
- 5:12Speaker 2: you don't have that, you're not trapped or you're not
- 5:14Speaker 2: relying on someone to do something else, and if that
- 5:16Speaker 2: person won't do it, then you can't do it. Independence
- 5:19Speaker 2: is the key to happiness. Having a choice, freedom of
- 5:21Speaker 2: choice is the key to happiness, okay, but not endless options.
- 5:24Speaker 2: We don't need endless options, And often when we give
- 5:27Speaker 2: ourselves endless options, we think that we're a lot happier.
- 5:30Speaker 2: But in reality, we now are doing nothing because we
- 5:33Speaker 2: don't know what to choose. We don't know what to do. Okay, Simplicity,
- 5:37Speaker 2: When you scale things down and keep it simple, that's
- 5:40Speaker 2: when you're going to find that you're a lot happier. Okay.
- 5:43Speaker 2: I'm not saying that you should now make your life
- 5:45Speaker 2: boring and have less options. I'm saying when you have
- 5:47Speaker 2: a whole bunch of options, start to cull it down
- 5:50Speaker 2: pretty quickly, very fucking quickly, okay, because you waste time.
- 5:54Speaker 2: And there's so many things in our life that have
- 5:56Speaker 2: been created to save time, but in reality they've made
- 5:59Speaker 2: us our life away. Okay. So now endless options is
- 6:04Speaker 2: what is marketed to us all the time, and we
- 6:07Speaker 2: now feel that if you have endless options, that's what
- 6:09Speaker 2: we want. Okay, in every area. Okay, look at look
- 6:12Speaker 2: at streaming services, something like Netflix endless options, and not
- 6:15Speaker 2: only is it endless options, but everything's at our fingertips
- 6:17Speaker 2: and we can access it now now now, now, now
- 6:19Speaker 2: look at dating apps. You have endless options at your fingertips.
- 6:22Speaker 2: So it's a lot harder to commit to one thing
- 6:24Speaker 2: because you're like wholl whoa whoah, whah whoah. But there's
- 6:26Speaker 2: like literally thousands of other people that I could be
- 6:30Speaker 2: like going through and checking out and maybe messaging. You know,
- 6:33Speaker 2: look look at food delivery services, look at those you know,
- 6:36Speaker 2: when you're trying to decide what to eat, and there's
- 6:38Speaker 2: just so many fucking decisions that it takes you forever. Okay,
- 6:41Speaker 2: has it made you infinitely happier all these things that
- 6:45Speaker 2: have that have occurred. No, it hasn't.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Okay.
- 6:47Speaker 2: The more options do not equal more happiness. Okay, we
- 6:51Speaker 2: need to be carling these fucking options and sticking to
- 6:54Speaker 2: fewer but good options. Okay. Do you remember when we
- 6:59Speaker 2: used to wait to watch one, maybe two of our
- 7:03Speaker 2: favorite TV shows on fucking TV and we would have
- 7:07Speaker 2: to wait to watch one hour and then once that
- 7:10Speaker 2: hour was over, we would have to be waiting until
- 7:12Speaker 2: the next week for that TV show to go on.
- 7:15Speaker 2: We didn't choose which show it was going to be.
- 7:18Speaker 2: It was just when the network decided when they were
- 7:20Speaker 2: going to er it. And this is now on eight
- 7:22Speaker 2: pm on a Thursday night, and that's just how it was. Okay.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Do you think you're so much more your life is
- 7:28Speaker 2: better and you are happier now that you've got infinite
- 7:30Speaker 2: TV shows at your fingertips. No, if anything, I was
- 7:34Speaker 2: actually a lot more excited because I had something to
- 7:36Speaker 2: look forward to and it was really good. And then
- 7:37Speaker 2: when it was on, I was fucking here for it.
- 7:40Speaker 2: I was present and I didn't want anyone to interrupt me,
- 7:42Speaker 2: and I was really enjoying it. Now there's this complacency
- 7:45Speaker 2: because we have so much accessibility, we have so much
- 7:47Speaker 2: hat of figurtives to start watching something, we get over it,
- 7:49Speaker 2: click next, next, next next. People are like that in
- 7:51Speaker 2: the dating scene as well. There's so much, so much available,
- 7:54Speaker 2: too many options that you're literally saying next next, because
- 7:57Speaker 2: you don't invest enough time in somebody to know if
- 8:00Speaker 2: it's worth your while or not. It's not that person's
- 8:03Speaker 2: not good enough. Is that people can't be fucked anymore
- 8:06Speaker 2: because they have too many options. Okay. If you want
- 8:09Speaker 2: to maximize your relationships, your time, your potential in your life,
- 8:14Speaker 2: cull your options. Okay,
