- 0:01Hey. Everybody, welcome to the Good
- 0:03Morning from the Chicken Coop podcast.
- 0:05My name is Kim Johnson and I am a mastermindset, coach, creative
- 0:08strategist, and also happened to be a farmer.
- 0:11This is my Chicken coop and I come out here every day.
- 0:14To record a podcast to. Teach distinctions,
- 0:17possibilities, new ways of. Thinking.
- 0:19And just bring some. Joy into the world.
- 0:21So welcome to the coop. And let's.
- 0:23Start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:30coop. We're talking about looping
- 0:33today. And looping is something that
- 0:36you can't really stop. It's how brains work.
- 0:39Often it's just a bad habit of getting in something.
- 0:42And I can't, you know, we'll often refer to it as I can't
- 0:45shut my brain off. My brain just keeps going and it
- 0:47just keeps thinking and it wakes us up and it keeps us awake at
- 0:50night and we can't stand it. And it's really just a pain in
- 0:52the butt. And when you start looping,
- 0:56often it's on a subject that you feel hopeless or helpless with.
- 1:00Like you can't just quiet it down in your head because you
- 1:04don't know what to do to make it different.
- 1:06So you start overthinking it because you are conceptualizing
- 1:10that. If I think about it more and
- 1:12more, somehow I'm going to come up with a different answer.
- 1:16But the problem is not that you're in the loop and you're
- 1:20you need that loop to come up with the answer.
- 1:22The problem is the energy of that loop.
- 1:24The problem is the emotion driving that energy.
- 1:27So often when you're looping, it's anxiety or fear.
- 1:32That's the emotion that's driving your bus.
- 1:35And when you're in that emotion, that's the emotion that's going
- 1:39to give you the answer. So it it's kind of it, it's like
- 1:43you can't solve that problem. So it's Einstein is famous for
- 1:46saying the mind that created the problem is not the mind that can
- 1:49solve the problem. You have to change your mind
- 1:51essentially. And when we say change our mind,
- 1:54I mean, it's not like we can unscrew the top of our head.
- 1:57Yes, that's absolutely right. That's Samantha who's got a lot
- 2:00of opinions today, apparently. So you can't just all of a
- 2:05sudden, OK, OK, I'm going to take a little screw on the top
- 2:08of my head, unscrew it, take out my mind and change my mind
- 2:11literally by putting a different mind in my head.
- 2:13It doesn't work that way. Be kind of interesting if you
- 2:16could, or if you've watched the show Severance where you get in
- 2:19the elevator and basically if you haven't seen that show on
- 2:22Apple TV and you're into kind of like these weird shows, it is
- 2:25amazing. I'm very spooky and I can't
- 2:28watch it at night without having a problem.
- 2:30But that's a different story for a different day.
- 2:33In any event, you get in the elevator in severance and you go
- 2:37to work and you forget all about your personal life and you are
- 2:41now in innie, meaning you're innie when you're in work has no
- 2:45memory of the Audi life. And we can't, we don't have the
- 2:49the the ability to do that. And, and I would never want to
- 2:52do that because I want to be in a whole consciousness.
- 2:55And the whole consciousness comes with all of these emotions
- 2:57and all these feelings and all of this stuff that we take
- 3:00wherever we go. So this looping is normal.
- 3:03It's normal. I mean, I can't tell you how
- 3:05many times today I've said that to people looping is normal.
- 3:08And again, after my, you know, podcast from yesterday about how
- 3:13weird it is out there, I really just cannot wait for this full
- 3:16moon to show up and get over with because I'm telling you,
- 3:18it's bringing a lot of strange energy out there and people are
- 3:21getting very frustrated with it, as am I and I've got chickens
- 3:25that are fighting. I've it is just weird, weird,
- 3:29weird stuff. But anyway, so this looping
- 3:33takes place anytime it can show up anywhere, anytime.
- 3:38We just force ourselves to like pay attention to it because it's
- 3:43loud in our head. It just keeps going off and it's
- 3:45like, I can't, I can't stop thinking about it.
- 3:47But we do know that we can understand intellectually that
- 3:52those patterns do break because when they break, like if you get
- 3:55interrupted and all of a sudden you're thinking about something
- 3:58completely different, it is very, very easy to all of a
- 4:02sudden like, you know, break the pattern and be distracted with
- 4:06who's ever calling on the phone or who's ever doing something
- 4:09else. Very, very easy to do that.
- 4:11Very, very easy to just keep going in in that direction of
- 4:15whatever's interrupting you. And then all of a sudden you
- 4:16hang up the phone and you're like, oh, what was I thinking
- 4:18about? Oh, that's right, I was looping.
- 4:20And then you jump back to it. It's very interesting how
- 4:24quickly we can redirect ourselves.
- 4:27And it's very interesting how we torture ourselves by not
- 4:30redirecting ourselves. So when you remember that you
- 4:35can interrupt the pattern, you have to ask yourself, what can I
- 4:40do in this moment to change my thought process, my pattern, my
- 4:44state, my physical state? Sometimes it's just getting up
- 4:48and moving. Sometimes it's getting a glass
- 4:50of water. Sometimes it's washing our
- 4:52hands. Sometimes it's something as
- 4:54simple as saying no thank you. I choose not to think about this
- 4:57right now. Now, that may sound strange, but
- 4:59that works in my head because I've trained my drivers that
- 5:02when I say no thank you, I don't want them in the seat.
- 5:05So you have to interrupt it in a way that works for you and
- 5:09everyone is original. It's just like when I work with
- 5:11people on this individually in coaching, we spend time figuring
- 5:15out what they need to do to interrupt themselves and
- 5:18everyone can have different ways to do it.
- 5:20So figure out how you like to interrupt your pattern and make
- 5:24sure you do it because looping not the best thing in the whole
- 5:27world. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:29you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:31Bye.
