- 0:02Speaker 1: Minnesota Vikings fans, welcome back to the Purple People Leaders Podcast.
- 0:07Speaker 1: He's Aaron, I'm Chris, and we're here to break down
- 0:12Speaker 1: a blowout the Vikings completely just throttle Cincinnati. Aaron was
- 0:19Speaker 1: right for the blowout, but this thing was just over
- 0:22Speaker 1: before it started. It felt like, you know, we we
- 0:27Speaker 1: we do get some some folks back. Welcome back, dearrisaw,
- 0:32Speaker 1: Welcome back, Harrison Smith, Van Ginkel. Glad to have you backfellas,
- 0:37Speaker 1: and we got some more coming obviously with Addison and whatnot.
- 0:42Speaker 1: You know, good good performance at QB, but you know,
- 0:46Speaker 1: all sorts of shit was happening around him. Positively, Rogers
- 0:51Speaker 1: went off, Yeah, so we're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna
- 0:54Speaker 1: take a victory lap. You know, you don't give these
- 0:57Speaker 1: time of type of blowouts when you got Max coming
- 1:01Speaker 1: in the game. You know, it's a blowout when you're
- 1:04Speaker 1: backups in so and it's not obviously due to injuries.
- 1:07Speaker 1: So yeah, they're definitely gonna talk that through. And then
- 1:10Speaker 1: of course we're going on our European residents taken on
- 1:16Speaker 1: good old Pit. We'll preview and predict, break down all
- 1:22Speaker 1: the keys to the game, and then of course, if
- 1:25Speaker 1: you've been with us long enough, you know that we
- 1:28Speaker 1: end the show on a Gophers football segment and they
- 1:32Speaker 1: got a big game against Ruggers and must win. If
- 1:35Speaker 1: you want to have a winning season, you gotta win
- 1:38Speaker 1: this one. So we're gonna break it all down in
- 1:41Speaker 1: just a short little bit here. If this is your
- 1:43Speaker 1: first time listening to the Purple People Eaters podcast, welcome.
- 1:47Speaker 1: It's available in a variety of places. We do have

- 2:08Speaker 1: that's not. I just backed that up. Let me back
- 2:10Speaker 1: that up. Let me reverse that up. While you're at it,
- 2:13Speaker 1: head on over to the gruelingteot dot com and Sports

- 2:48Speaker 1: and then with one hundred over one hundred and sixty
- 2:51Speaker 1: channels eighty four ninety nine that gives you the ultimate package,
- 2:56Speaker 1: that's DIRECTVV. Okay, I'm gonna go ahead and bring in
- 3:00Speaker 1: I co host Aaron Man. You called for a blowout,
- 3:05Speaker 1: an old boy. Did we get a blowout? I think
- 3:10Speaker 1: the largest victory since a certain fifteen to one season
- 3:16Speaker 1: regular season.
- 3:19Speaker 2: I did call for a blowout, but I called for
- 3:22Speaker 2: Wentz being the best quarterback on the planet Sunday, and
- 3:30Speaker 2: that necessarily didn't happen. But the defense showed up, made
- 3:34Speaker 2: big plays, and you put forty eight on Cincinnati, who
- 3:41Speaker 2: looked out of swords without Burrow. But also you know
- 3:46Speaker 2: US Bank Stadium noon. Yeah, probably undefeated Noone on a
- 3:52Speaker 2: Sunday at US Bank Stadium. It's when you get to
- 3:56Speaker 2: seven fifteen, when you get to seven thirty, that's when
- 4:00Speaker 2: start to have problems. But no, it's good to see
- 4:03Speaker 2: a blowout. Good to see the Vikings win, you know,
- 4:08Speaker 2: and the offense be proficient and move the chains and work,
- 4:13Speaker 2: and the defense just ball hocking and stripping and doing
- 4:17Speaker 2: all kinds of stuff, you know, brings up a lot
- 4:20Speaker 2: of talk. Chris and I we talked a little bit
- 4:23Speaker 2: before we hit record about you know, the next what
- 4:27Speaker 2: six games and what it looks like and we you know,
- 4:33Speaker 2: it depends on the path, is what we kind of
- 4:35Speaker 2: came up with, right Chris. It was like, you're built
- 4:38Speaker 2: to win now, And I put a question mark at
- 4:41Speaker 2: the end of that, because it doesn't seem like you
- 4:44Speaker 2: can have McCarthy and win now with the Vets and
- 4:50Speaker 2: the free agency that you picked up and sell that
- 4:54Speaker 2: to them. But then again, Wentz has played one game
- 4:57Speaker 2: he like you said, he didn't you know, like the
- 4:59Speaker 2: world on fire, but he seemed to run to drive
- 5:02Speaker 2: the ship fairly well. So if he continues to do that,
- 5:06Speaker 2: and I think we'll probably wait until we get back
- 5:09Speaker 2: from Europe just to kind of assess where Wentz is
- 5:13Speaker 2: at and then maybe have the discussion going into a
- 5:17Speaker 2: Philly game about what do you do with McCarthy and
- 5:21Speaker 2: so on. But it is an interesting thing to start
- 5:25Speaker 2: thinking about, guys, because you you have two more weeks
- 5:31Speaker 2: of Wentz pretty much for sure. I think O'Connell was
- 5:36Speaker 2: pretty clear on JJ not being back until at least
- 5:39Speaker 2: because they were gonna put him on IR but he
- 5:41Speaker 2: wasn't that hurt. So you got to think three games.
- 5:44Speaker 2: So that's the next two, and then you got Philly
- 5:48Speaker 2: at home, and then you got San Diego on the road.
- 5:52Speaker 2: I believe the Lions after that, and you do have
- 5:55Speaker 2: that buy and you do have the buye. But you know,
- 6:01Speaker 2: it's tough. It's a really tough talker, and we'll probably
- 6:03Speaker 2: either revisit it later, but you gotta think about Obviously,
- 6:08Speaker 2: you want JJ back because you want to gain experience,
- 6:12Speaker 2: but if you're in the win now mode and Wentz
- 6:16Speaker 2: can continue to play as good or better as he
- 6:19Speaker 2: did on Sunday, it could be a hard sell to
- 6:23Speaker 2: the Vets to bring JJ back, especially for that four
- 6:26Speaker 2: game stretch, which is one of the major stretches of
- 6:29Speaker 2: the season.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean you gotta think, like, how you're doing
- 6:34Speaker 1: that part kind of will let us see how real
- 6:38Speaker 1: we are, especially if in fact the starting center comes
- 6:43Speaker 1: back and and you know, with Darris ib back and everything,
- 6:48Speaker 1: it is interesting. You know, we're definitely not on the Hey,
- 6:52Speaker 1: we're done with them. Clearly he's not ready, he's a bust.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Let's trade him. But we're also not on You know,
- 7:00Speaker 1: the thing is, when push comes to shove, he didn't
- 7:05Speaker 1: win the job from anybody. He didn't get in last
- 7:08Speaker 1: year and outplayed Donald or something. I mean he couldn't obviously,
- 7:12Speaker 1: but you know, he didn't win the job. This isn't
- 7:15Speaker 1: college football. He didn't. It wasn't neck and neck in
- 7:17Speaker 1: the spring and he looked better, and you know, he
- 7:20Speaker 1: didn't really win a job. I mean, it was already
- 7:23Speaker 1: his job. And even once he didn't come at the
- 7:26Speaker 1: start of camp, right, we got him during camp. So
- 7:30Speaker 1: you know, it is kind of interesting. We are in
- 7:33Speaker 1: win mode right now in the next few years. If
- 7:35Speaker 1: you look at the you know how much we spent
- 7:38Speaker 1: and the length of some of these contracts. It is
- 7:41Speaker 1: when now, So do you put JJ in in that
- 7:45Speaker 1: four game stretch? Maybe if we see the line improve
- 7:50Speaker 1: more and more over these next two games, it'll give
- 7:53Speaker 1: you a little bit more confidence to do it. But
- 7:56Speaker 1: we do have to remember beyond draft capital where we
- 8:00Speaker 1: was talking to my buddy AJ yesterday and he said
- 8:02Speaker 1: draft capital, like that's that's how he won the job,
- 8:05Speaker 1: because we got to get a look at him, and
- 8:07Speaker 1: it would, I mean, talk about a hell of a
- 8:09Speaker 1: test those four games. But also if the line's still
- 8:12Speaker 1: a little shaky, which you know, we did have nine hits.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I'm not saying that's all on the on the line
- 8:18Speaker 1: once held the ball a little bit at times, but
- 8:21Speaker 1: maybe stepped up when he shouldn't or whatever. But he
- 8:25Speaker 1: still got hit a lot. So and we're used to
- 8:28Speaker 1: that around here. Our quarterback's getting hit. But yeah, I mean,
- 8:31Speaker 1: do you when we're saying, well, let's not have him
- 8:35Speaker 1: during those four games, maybe just speculating. It's not like
- 8:39Speaker 1: we're giving them up, giving up on him. It's just,
- 8:42Speaker 1: you know, like the confidence thing. If he's getting hit
- 8:46Speaker 1: double digits all those games, almost that's you never know,
- 8:50Speaker 1: you never know. So I think it's worth, like you said,
- 8:53Speaker 1: to revisit it. We're more in between, you know, but
- 8:58Speaker 1: we can't. We got our Remember, he didn't win the
- 9:02Speaker 1: job because of his play on the field. He just didn't.
- 9:06Speaker 1: And he doesn't have a lot of experience. He's got
- 9:09Speaker 1: a handful of possessions a year ago in preseason, mind you,
- 9:16Speaker 1: and then literally one possession going into this year, so
- 9:20Speaker 1: he you know, he has eight quarters of live NFL
- 9:24Speaker 1: they count type stuff. Now, of course it counts in
- 9:27Speaker 1: the preseason because that's where he got hurt, right, But
- 9:30Speaker 1: it's worth talking about. It's not worth freaking out about
- 9:33Speaker 1: and having to make a decision or whatever. But just
- 9:38Speaker 1: kind of you know, started the game with a nice
- 9:42Speaker 1: little return. It was nice, like I said, to have
- 9:44Speaker 1: Darsaw and thank Ginkle and Harrison Smith and all three
- 9:49Speaker 1: of those guys made their presence felt very very early.
- 9:53Speaker 1: We got JJ act of early. Oliver got a touchdown,
- 9:57Speaker 1: you know, definitely causing a lot pressure on the quarterback,
- 10:01Speaker 1: making them get rid of it. Harrison Smith comes off
- 10:05Speaker 1: coverage with the tip, Rogers breaks a tackle, scores, you know,
- 10:11Speaker 1: just a bunch of pressure.
- 10:12Speaker 3: You know.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I wasn't crazy about that third and twelve run that
- 10:16Speaker 1: they got the first down. I was like, really, dude,
- 10:19Speaker 1: but you know, Chase I think got another first down.
- 10:22Speaker 1: But then it was holding I think, and it made
- 10:25Speaker 1: it third and seventeen. We forced a punt. You saw,
- 10:29Speaker 1: like I said, JJ getting active early, and then there
- 10:32Speaker 1: was a TJ. Hockinson sighting, you know, so that was cool.
- 10:38Speaker 1: There was that illegal use of the shoulder helmet or
- 10:41Speaker 1: the helmet, but I felt like it was more shoulder
- 10:43Speaker 1: than helmet. I don't like that call. That's an NFL call.
- 10:49Speaker 1: I'm not crazy about that. We had probably too many
- 10:52Speaker 1: false start if you break, you know, if you're breaking
- 10:54Speaker 1: down the game, we didn't play all that clean on
- 10:58Speaker 1: offense per se. But you know, you can't say enough
- 11:03Speaker 1: about Rogers and it was just you know, the kicker
- 11:10Speaker 1: hitting the sixty two yarder. It was just a fun
- 11:15Speaker 1: game to see that play out. Obviously we're not gonna
- 11:19Speaker 1: go possession by possession, but when you're up thirty four
- 11:22Speaker 1: to three and a half, this thing's well. I shouldn't
- 11:25Speaker 1: say over because we know that Colts game from a
- 11:29Speaker 1: futures back, but it's just everything was just swinging our
- 11:33Speaker 1: way here.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I got out of hand, you know, pretty quickly.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Like you mentioned, you know, Oliver gets the touchdown. Offensively,
- 11:42Speaker 2: you're moving the ball, which was good, and that has
- 11:44Speaker 2: a lot to do with the Jordan Mason, Like this
- 11:47Speaker 2: guy's a revelation. And if it's not Rogers, obviously who's
- 11:51Speaker 2: the player of this game. I think Mason's the second
- 11:54Speaker 2: on that one. Just big runs, timely runs and then
- 12:00Speaker 2: KOs callin run plays too is huge. You got to
- 12:03Speaker 2: kind of get into that, into that system of running
- 12:06Speaker 2: the ball. You know, we're old school, get off my lawn, guys,
- 12:09Speaker 2: but you got to run the football, or at least
- 12:13Speaker 2: the threat of running the football. And we've been talking
- 12:16Speaker 2: about that for a long time. And I don't care
- 12:17Speaker 2: how you know, pass happy the NFL gets. The fundamentals
- 12:23Speaker 2: are going to remain the same. And obviously having darrisawback
- 12:26Speaker 2: made a huge, huge difference in the run game and
- 12:30Speaker 2: the pass game. Yes, but a lot of Mason's big
- 12:34Speaker 2: runs were behind him and the rookie, so that side
- 12:38Speaker 2: of the line seems to be where you want to run,
- 12:39Speaker 2: and they did a good job of it. And Mason
- 12:42Speaker 2: just you know, he's not a lot of bullshit. He
- 12:44Speaker 2: just gets his head down, gets to the hole or
- 12:46Speaker 2: bounces outside. Very very simple, good running. Didn't really miss
- 12:53Speaker 2: Aaron Jones too much. I think in the passing game
- 12:56Speaker 2: we probably did a little bit, but maybe that forced
- 12:58Speaker 2: KOs to things up a little bit. And uh, I
- 13:02Speaker 2: mean he did run that trick play, which you know,
- 13:05Speaker 2: I don't think that's ever worked. He's running like two
- 13:08Speaker 2: or three times since he's been here.
- 13:10Speaker 1: It's gonna work here someday, at some.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Point, yeah, it's got him, you know, his favorite little trick,
- 13:15Speaker 2: play to run.
- 13:16Speaker 1: But yeah, it looks so good on Thursdays though.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Yeah, right, I thought that. You know, they some of
- 13:23Speaker 2: the penalties, like you said, the false starts, but that's
- 13:26Speaker 2: new offensive line, new offensive lineman. Yep, you know you
- 13:29Speaker 2: kind of have to take some of those. I don't
- 13:32Speaker 2: think they were egregious. The Yakuda penalty, was it a penalty?
- 13:37Speaker 2: I mean technically at ahead at the other head, but
- 13:40Speaker 2: I don't think he led with the head right nonetheless
- 13:43Speaker 2: shoulder in. Yeah, and then Rogers had a great path
- 13:47Speaker 2: breakup on chasing the end zone. That's why it was
- 13:51Speaker 2: seventeen to three. You're getting pressure, you're getting sacks, you're
- 13:55Speaker 2: forcing penalties. I thought, you know, had you taking away
- 14:00Speaker 2: the defensive touchdown because I think we're just one at
- 14:03Speaker 2: that point in the first half, or did he get
- 14:05Speaker 2: that second one in the first half? You might have, Yeah,
- 14:09Speaker 2: he did in the first thirty four to three. But
- 14:13Speaker 2: I mean just it's almost like you said on your couch,
- 14:18Speaker 2: kind of dumbfounded, like really this is happening? Yeah, right,
- 14:22Speaker 2: those turnovers and forcing turnovers and you know, scoop and
- 14:27Speaker 2: score pick six sacks. Is it real? This defense was
- 14:32Speaker 2: outstanding and I feel like, you know, you get Harrison back,
- 14:38Speaker 2: you're still fairly healthy over there. You need cash man.
- 14:42Speaker 2: But I thought Wilson played well.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, he's made place it's building to be.
- 14:47Speaker 2: You know, you shut down the run, which was huge
- 14:50Speaker 2: because against the Falcons, you just you can't have that.
- 14:53Speaker 2: But it's a different back to so let's put that
- 14:55Speaker 2: in the equation. Bijon is different back than anybody Cincinnati had,
- 15:00Speaker 2: uh or a lot of teams are gonna have. So
- 15:03Speaker 2: you know, shutting down the run is it's easy to say,
- 15:06Speaker 2: but if you're looking at John Robinson it might not be.
- 15:08Speaker 1: That that easy.
- 15:10Speaker 2: But yeah, defense played outstanding. And then what do you
- 15:13Speaker 2: say about being up thirty four to three to half, Chris,
- 15:15Speaker 2: I mean, rarely does that happen. Rarely do we score
- 15:18Speaker 2: thirty in an entire game. And we're three and a
- 15:22Speaker 2: half now. The only lingering thought, and like you mentioned, was,
- 15:25Speaker 2: you know, we came back from a deficit like that,
- 15:28Speaker 2: so it's possible. We're all aware that that is possible.
- 15:32Speaker 2: And after all, absolutely, and then the kicker hits a
- 15:37Speaker 2: sixty two yarder, Uh, you know, big hitter this kid, well, yeah,
- 15:43Speaker 2: tell you you know you can hit sixty two yarders indoors.
- 15:47Speaker 2: I think he had a fifty two outdoor. So we'll
- 15:51Speaker 2: just you know, that was nice to see. We'll leave
- 15:53Speaker 2: it at that hit. The third quarter, defense forces three
- 15:56Speaker 2: and out punts. Offense comes out. Mason gets an nineteen
- 16:00Speaker 2: yard run. He's starting off those drives with these big runs.
- 16:03Speaker 2: It's it's really nice. Naylor gets a catch, Jefferson gets
- 16:07Speaker 2: a catch, little Xavier Scott action. Chris, Yes, nice run,
- 16:14Speaker 2: and then Hockinson gets a couple of catches and Mason
- 16:17Speaker 2: punges in for a touchdown. Yeah, and then it's forty
- 16:22Speaker 2: one to three. Get interception by Mattelis, and then the
- 16:25Speaker 2: game's done. At this point, you're at the end of
- 16:27Speaker 2: the third. Offense comes out, Mason gets twenty four to
- 16:32Speaker 2: kick off the drive. Naylor gets a catch, Hockinson gets
- 16:36Speaker 2: a touchdown, forty eight to three. Going into the fourth,
- 16:41Speaker 2: they kept mentioning they had darrisaw on a pitch count Chris,
- 16:45Speaker 2: but I saw he popped out for a little bit
- 16:48Speaker 2: and then he came back in. And then the Scrubs
- 16:52Speaker 2: came in for the fourth quarter, and even they, you know,
- 16:54Speaker 2: played pretty well, and it wasn't you know, you don't
- 16:56Speaker 2: have enough scrubs to do a full scrub team. But
- 17:00Speaker 2: I thought that they held up pretty well to Austin
- 17:03Speaker 2: Keys with a sack, MacAuthor got a PI penalty. Brozmer,
- 17:08Speaker 2: you know, I think he completed a pass. He wasn't
- 17:11Speaker 2: anything outstanding, but uh yeah. I mean it's one of
- 17:15Speaker 2: those games where you wish would be in the playoffs,
- 17:18Speaker 2: but unfortunately it's week three this season.
- 17:23Speaker 1: The kickers on the sidelines gunga the lunga. Yeah, like
- 17:28Speaker 1: in cam Akers, welcome back buddy. Why don't we just
- 17:31Speaker 1: sign him for an extra year and just keep him?
- 17:34Speaker 1: But yeah, knock on wood. Obviously we know why. I
- 17:36Speaker 1: don't even want to mention it. Yeah, and you know,
- 17:42Speaker 1: it was kind of nice to go fourteen, to know
- 17:44Speaker 1: in that third quarter, you know, to come out and
- 17:46Speaker 1: be like, hey, this thing ain't over. We're gonna put
- 17:48Speaker 1: it over. Like you said about Mason, he hits the
- 17:51Speaker 1: hole really fast. Doesn't doing that fancy, but he's always
- 17:57Speaker 1: like falling forward. He's in his prime. It's a big
- 18:01Speaker 1: dude with some speed. So I really like that. So
- 18:07Speaker 1: he played good. I thought Pace set the pace on defense.
- 18:11Speaker 1: He was all over the place. THEO Jackson looked pretty
- 18:14Speaker 1: damn good as well, as you know, like you're saying, Rogers,
- 18:17Speaker 1: that's a good call to force fumbles a scool a
- 18:20Speaker 1: force fumble scoop in score. But that was that was
- 18:25Speaker 1: a good call as far as that that PBu that
- 18:27Speaker 1: was he was right there. This kid's fitting in the
- 18:31Speaker 1: Flora system. And it's it's some of the you know,
- 18:34Speaker 1: you just gotta trust Flores. You know, you're like, Okay,
- 18:36Speaker 1: this guy's been around a little bit, and yeah, I've
- 18:38Speaker 1: seen him playing all that, but yeah, it's you know,
- 18:42Speaker 1: definitely definitely looks like he's legit. As you mentioned that
- 18:47Speaker 1: kicker looks legit. The offensive line played pretty good overall,
- 18:52Speaker 1: very good at times. Still, you know, still some leaks
- 18:55Speaker 1: or whatever. Serviceable, maybe a little above serviceable at times.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Wents.
- 19:00Speaker 1: He get the ball out quick, that's for sure. For
- 19:03Speaker 1: the most part. Anyway, he held it a couple of times,
- 19:05Speaker 1: but or you know, started kind of climbing up the
- 19:09Speaker 1: pocket before maybe he needed to. But you know, he
- 19:12Speaker 1: was just solid and very decisive in his decision making.
- 19:17Speaker 1: So and that's what we need to do. And you
- 19:21Speaker 1: know to have that many turnovers. Yeah, paced twelve tackles,
- 19:26Speaker 1: got three hits on the QB. You know, we were
- 19:31Speaker 1: able to get nine hits. I actually looked at it wrong.
- 19:34Speaker 1: We only had five hits on wents, so but we
- 19:39Speaker 1: had nine hits on the QB. You know, tackles for loss,
- 19:43Speaker 1: seven of them five PBUs. You know, we played great Grenard.
- 19:47Speaker 1: They were trying to hold him. It didn't matter. It
- 19:51Speaker 1: was it was good man. Redmand kind of bounced back
- 19:53Speaker 1: like we it just looked really good. It was. It was.
- 19:56Speaker 1: It was a very good game. Like you said, we
- 19:58Speaker 1: just it's just nice to have that type of game.
- 20:01Speaker 1: It's crazy, like somewhere in the fourth quarter you're like
- 20:03Speaker 1: paying attention to your phone. You'll oh yea, yeah, yeah,
- 20:05Speaker 1: it's right the games, you know, like it's that much
- 20:07Speaker 1: of a blowout you kind of look at how people
- 20:10Speaker 1: are responding and whatnot to it. So, yeah, it was
- 20:15Speaker 1: a great game. And there's not like a ton to
- 20:20Speaker 1: break down, you know what I mean. So when you
- 20:23Speaker 1: get that in the bank like that, that is huge.
- 20:28Speaker 1: We'll keep an eye on this JJ stuff. You know,
- 20:30Speaker 1: before we hit record, like Daron was saying, we kind
- 20:33Speaker 1: of mentioned this where we're just kind of thinking it through.
- 20:36Speaker 1: You know, it's obviously a you know, if we go
- 20:38Speaker 1: and win the next two games and all of a sudden,
- 20:42Speaker 1: people are like, well, dude, you know, Wentz has been there,
- 20:44Speaker 1: done that, and we've had a track record of guys
- 20:47Speaker 1: that have had maybe a good season, and he bounced
- 20:50Speaker 1: around a lot. You know, if you've seen a lot
- 20:53Speaker 1: in your career, go to our bad you tend to
- 20:57Speaker 1: do pretty good in this system with koc And it's
- 21:01Speaker 1: just an experience factor too, and and and JJ McCarthy
- 21:05Speaker 1: just doesn't have the experience. It doesn't mean, you know,
- 21:08Speaker 1: we want to trade him, so everybody call him down there.
- 21:10Speaker 1: He may come back and we'll see, but it will
- 21:13Speaker 1: be interesting to see how we do on our UK
- 21:16Speaker 1: residence back to back games, Schootland first or Dublin, Well,
- 21:22Speaker 1: same thing kind of. No, I shouldn't say that because
- 21:26Speaker 1: it's not it's not even close. And I should know
- 21:31Speaker 1: that being a UK fight fan. And I also know
- 21:34Speaker 1: Ireland and Northern Ireland are much different than not the same,
- 21:38Speaker 1: and I respect that. But Dublin, you know, we're facing
- 21:43Speaker 1: our our old friend Rogers, and Rogers would light us
- 21:47Speaker 1: up for a game, and we tend to do pretty
- 21:49Speaker 1: good against them, even when we had like mediocre offenses.
- 21:54Speaker 1: We get enough pressure on them. And clearly he's fastest prime,
- 21:58Speaker 1: but the dude Bill knows the game, still has the arm.
- 22:03Speaker 1: You know, he may not do the Brett Favre stuff
- 22:07Speaker 1: as much where you're like, dude, just get him on
- 22:09Speaker 1: the ground and then right when you have his legs,
- 22:10Speaker 1: he'll dump it off to somebody and it's the first down.
- 22:14Speaker 1: He may not have that, but he's a stud. Addison back,
- 22:17Speaker 1: that'll help feeling. I got a little question mark is
- 22:19Speaker 1: feeling getting open and then when he's open, it seems
- 22:24Speaker 1: like he's not securing the ball that much. But this
- 22:26Speaker 1: will help having Addison back in the fold, just a
- 22:31Speaker 1: deep threat and you know he you know when it
- 22:35Speaker 1: was just when JJ got hurt and it was Cousins
- 22:38Speaker 1: and then I think it was Hall and then Dobbs
- 22:44Speaker 1: and you know it was one of those. But you
- 22:46Speaker 1: can target the guy, you know, it's he's like, if
- 22:49Speaker 1: they leave one on one, you gotta target him. So
- 22:53Speaker 1: if we can keep that TJ thing going as well,
- 22:56Speaker 1: I think that'll help feeling in the middle of the field.
- 22:59Speaker 1: And we were also talking before we hit record that
- 23:02Speaker 1: you know, it does drop down another level of who's
- 23:06Speaker 1: going to be guarding him. You know, they got to
- 23:08Speaker 1: put a pretty high level dude on Addison too. So
- 23:12Speaker 1: heading in this matchup though we are two and a
- 23:15Speaker 1: half point favorites. You know, it's funny. I looked at
- 23:17Speaker 1: the line after we got our ass whooped or not,
- 23:20Speaker 1: I shouldn't say that. I shouldn't say we didn't get
- 23:22Speaker 1: our ass whip, but offensively, we got our ass whopped
- 23:25Speaker 1: last ye, last last week. And I looked at it
- 23:28Speaker 1: before I looked at the Steelers matchup, and we were
- 23:34Speaker 1: three and some places had us three and a half
- 23:37Speaker 1: underdogs and someone had his highest four and a half underdog. Right,
- 23:43Speaker 1: But now all of a sudden, our favorites one game later,
- 23:46Speaker 1: you know, with all those points, so we're two and
- 23:49Speaker 1: a half point favorites. The over under is forty one,
- 23:53Speaker 1: so they're thinking this is gonna be a grinded out
- 23:55Speaker 1: type game. You know what, what says you about our
- 24:01Speaker 1: our first first part of this two week trip over
- 24:07Speaker 1: in the Dublin on the on the euro Residency where
- 24:11Speaker 1: we're we're doing two semesters over there this year we're
- 24:14Speaker 1: we're gonna get our doctrine or something like that. Rhodes Scholars.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Well, it's Rogers, right, Rogers against Rogers this time. Yeah,
- 24:25Speaker 2: I mean he's always tricky and you don't know, even
- 24:27Speaker 2: against the Jets, I didn't think he played terribly. You know,
- 24:29Speaker 2: he threw that pick to to the gank, but other
- 24:34Speaker 2: than that, I thought they played well. When he was
- 24:36Speaker 2: with the Jets. I think that was in Europe as
- 24:39Speaker 2: well last year, so we meet him again in Europe.
- 24:43Speaker 2: You know, I'm more concerned about Steeler pass rush. Every
- 24:49Speaker 2: year they have one. Obviously, Flores was with them just
- 24:56Speaker 2: prior to joining us, so they have a general idea
- 24:58Speaker 2: of what Brian likes to do. Obviously, Rogers has seen everything,
- 25:05Speaker 2: so it's not like, you know, he'll figure out quickly
- 25:08Speaker 2: what Flora's is up to. And now he's got t
- 25:10Speaker 2: K Metcalf to get the ball too. Has also been
- 25:13Speaker 2: a thorn on our side throughout time. The running game
- 25:18Speaker 2: is a stealer running game, pretty simple, and it's you know,
- 25:23Speaker 2: I think his I don't remember the running backs name
- 25:26Speaker 2: they go to. It's Warren. I think I think it's
- 25:28Speaker 2: Warren's good back. And you know, obviously we don't have
- 25:33Speaker 2: Cashman back, so it's back to Wilson again to lead
- 25:37Speaker 2: the charge. Wilson in pace to Phil Holes and stop
- 25:41Speaker 2: the running game. You're gonna have to stop the running
- 25:43Speaker 2: game because you don't want Rogers, you know, just free
- 25:48Speaker 2: free throwing out there on second down. So because I
- 25:55Speaker 2: you know, I thought Rogers are Rogers, had a good game,
- 25:59Speaker 2: a little different hill, you know, Jake Browning and then
- 26:02Speaker 2: Aaron Rodgers, and like you said, he's seen everything under
- 26:07Speaker 2: the sun. So I'm trying to remember a matchup besides
- 26:11Speaker 2: last year Flores against Rogers, and I think that's the
- 26:17Speaker 2: only one that I can remember being kind of relevant here.
- 26:24Speaker 2: You know, I thought the forty one, the Miami.
- 26:28Speaker 1: One with Green Bay.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Yeah, the forty one seems low to me, because you know, WinCE.
- 26:35Speaker 2: I thought he played steady. I thought he's played professional.
- 26:39Speaker 2: I thought he was a real like calming presence after
- 26:44Speaker 2: all the you know stuff that was going on. But
- 26:47Speaker 2: I don't see him, you know, three hundred and three
- 26:50Speaker 2: touchdowns either. So I don't want him to limit turning
- 26:54Speaker 2: the ball over. If you can not throw any picks,
- 26:58Speaker 2: make smart plays, throw the ball away when you have
- 27:02Speaker 2: the opportunity. You're not moving like he used to, Carson,
- 27:06Speaker 2: so you know, deal with that. I think he tried
- 27:09Speaker 2: to do some of that and Cincinnati and lost eight
- 27:12Speaker 2: seven eight yards on a sack, right yeah, yeah, So
- 27:16Speaker 2: you're gonna have to be smart. And then just you know, again, Mason,
- 27:20Speaker 2: in the running game is if you can keep Rogers
- 27:23Speaker 2: off the field and all this stuff becomes kind of mute,
- 27:26Speaker 2: so so you can run the ball, convert their down,
- 27:29Speaker 2: move the chains. I think is gonna be the game plan.
- 27:32Speaker 2: And I think kind of the game plan just going
- 27:34Speaker 2: forward pretty much, JJ or I mean, all three quarterbacks
- 27:39Speaker 2: whoever's in the game, gonna need a running game. And
- 27:44Speaker 2: I would say some more than others, but not really,
- 27:47Speaker 2: they're all gonna need it. I mean, Carson, like I said,
- 27:50Speaker 2: is not gonna throw like Rogers and JJ, you know,
- 27:55Speaker 2: lack of experience, the same with brosmer So, and if
- 27:57Speaker 2: you get down to Ritter, it's gonna be the same thing.
- 27:59Speaker 2: So obviously get the running game going, kind of grind
- 28:02Speaker 2: it out, eat the clock. I like, boy, it's a
- 28:10Speaker 2: tough one because I think these are pretty evenly matched
- 28:12Speaker 2: teams and evenly matched parts of the season and all
- 28:16Speaker 2: this stuff. Obviously it's a neutral site, so I'll just
- 28:21Speaker 2: side with the home team here outside with the Vikings.
- 28:25Speaker 2: I say we win by touchdown, so I'll go twenty eight,
- 28:34Speaker 2: twenty eight to twenty one something like that. Throw a
- 28:37Speaker 2: field goal in there somewhere. But I don't think it'll
- 28:42Speaker 2: be any blow out by any stretch of the imagination,
- 28:46Speaker 2: unless it's a Steeler blowout, and then you know that's
- 28:50Speaker 2: that'll be a whole nother talker. But yeah, I like
- 28:52Speaker 2: the Vikings in this one on the road at a
- 28:56Speaker 2: neutral site in Dublin, week one of the European residency.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and and like you said, like we've done like
- 29:06Speaker 1: we do travel well there, so it probably will fill
- 29:10Speaker 1: like a home game. But then again, you know, pitt
- 29:13Speaker 1: they got some you know, Pittsburgh's got some crazy fan
- 29:17Speaker 1: base too, so they'll probably be over there a lot,
- 29:19Speaker 1: a little shorter flight as well, so maybe it'll be
- 29:22Speaker 1: more even this year. But when we have been in
- 29:24Speaker 1: there in the past, it feels like a home game,
- 29:27Speaker 1: but it is it is nice now that we're here
- 29:30Speaker 1: that it actually does count, I guess right as a
- 29:34Speaker 1: as a road game rather than being on the you
- 29:36Speaker 1: know road they do seem like they're they're pretty close
- 29:39Speaker 1: in offense twenty seven to twenty four or only three games,
- 29:42Speaker 1: so some of these stats can be a little skewed. Neither,
- 29:47Speaker 1: you know, neither teams lighten the world up passing. As
- 29:49Speaker 1: far as yardage, they're only averaging sixty three yards per
- 29:55Speaker 1: game on the on the ground. At the same time,
- 29:58Speaker 1: they're giving up one hundred and thirty nine. Now because
- 30:02Speaker 1: of two weeks ago, we're we're also giving up one
- 30:04Speaker 1: hundred and thirty right. So to your point, you know,
- 30:08Speaker 1: the rushing, it's got it. We gotta do that and
- 30:11Speaker 1: contain it. But when you look at the passing yards,
- 30:15Speaker 1: the Vikes to two forty six on defense, so and
- 30:18Speaker 1: they're given up close to twenty six points a game. Now,
- 30:21Speaker 1: it's only three games, so we don't want to lose
- 30:24Speaker 1: track of that. But here's where it gets really interesting.
- 30:29Speaker 1: The Vikings have five sacks in the fourth quarter. They
- 30:33Speaker 1: lead the league. So let's hope we do that late
- 30:36Speaker 1: in the game if it's tight. But two major things
- 30:39Speaker 1: when it comes to Steelers, they lead the league with
- 30:43Speaker 1: yards after the catch. So tackling, Yes, tackling, I know
- 30:47Speaker 1: it sounds basic, but we saw, you know, pretty good
- 30:52Speaker 1: tackling the first two out of three games. With that one,
- 30:55Speaker 1: we didn't just in general, so yards after the catch
- 30:58Speaker 1: we have to Okay, you get the pickup, cool, but
- 31:01Speaker 1: we don't want to add twelve more yards. And then
- 31:03Speaker 1: when we get in the red zone, and this also
- 31:06Speaker 1: goes to the point we're talking about, Rogers still has
- 31:08Speaker 1: it to an extent a new way. The Steelers have
- 31:11Speaker 1: six passing touchdowns in the red zone so far. You know,
- 31:17Speaker 1: that's the most in the league. So if you get
- 31:20Speaker 1: inside that, you know we're a bend that don't break. Well,
- 31:22Speaker 1: these dudes have been breaking, folks. Donald, I think had
- 31:27Speaker 1: a pretty good game. He did it. I didn't actually
- 31:29Speaker 1: see it. I saw one of the picks. I didn't
- 31:31Speaker 1: see the other one. But you know, statistically, I didn't
- 31:34Speaker 1: see the full game or nothing like that. I saw
- 31:36Speaker 1: some of the highlights or whatever. He did throw two picks,
- 31:40Speaker 1: but he had two touchdowns, put up some yards or whatever.
- 31:43Speaker 1: But I'm kind of with you there. My scores, I
- 31:46Speaker 1: have two of them. Either twenty four to sixteen or
- 31:48Speaker 1: twenty seven to twenty is what I was kind of
- 31:50Speaker 1: looking at. But either way, like you said, a touchdown.
- 31:57Speaker 1: You know, touchdown wins. So yeah, I think they'll I
- 32:04Speaker 1: think they'll win the win the game. They should anyway.
- 32:09Speaker 1: But you know, yards after the catch, man, like big deal,
- 32:13Speaker 1: who cares they're gonna catch? You know, our Rogers is
- 32:15Speaker 1: gonna get yards, dude, you know, like we just can't
- 32:19Speaker 1: give up the big plays.
- 32:21Speaker 3: And and you know, hopefully now that we've had three
- 32:26Speaker 3: games worth of you know, tackling and get the rust
- 32:30Speaker 3: off and get your body used.
- 32:32Speaker 1: To it, because let's face it, you just don't do
- 32:34Speaker 1: a bunch of tackling. You just don't, you know. So
- 32:38Speaker 1: if you know, you do once you get going, but
- 32:40Speaker 1: you just don't play people in the in the the
- 32:43Speaker 1: preseason anymore basically.
- 32:45Speaker 2: So I think this will be a good litmus test
- 32:47Speaker 2: to Chris about yes, hard Greaves and Alan if you
- 32:53Speaker 2: can get pressure with four because you don't want to
- 32:57Speaker 2: be blitzing too much on Rogers, and you can get
- 33:00Speaker 2: pressure with the four, you know, and you can You've
- 33:05Speaker 2: got some edge guys. Now you've got the Gang and
- 33:08Speaker 2: Grenard and Turners kind of making himself known. And then yeah,
- 33:14Speaker 2: the Keys had a sack, so he might be worth
- 33:16Speaker 2: playing a little bit. So yeah, I mean, you've got
- 33:20Speaker 2: some guys that can get pressure. Now you just in
- 33:22Speaker 2: the interior. Can they hold it down? Get interior pressure
- 33:27Speaker 2: and not blitz Rogers as much would probably be a
- 33:33Speaker 2: better idea because you know he'll pick you apart. And
- 33:36Speaker 2: remember Stafford last year just replaced the blitzer, replaced the
- 33:40Speaker 2: blitzer field the whole way, and Rogers will do the
- 33:44Speaker 2: same thing if you let him do it. So I
- 33:46Speaker 2: think it'll be a good test to see, you know,
- 33:49Speaker 2: where we are as a as a defensive line and
- 33:52Speaker 2: pass rush as far as.
- 33:53Speaker 1: That's concerned, yep, and sticking to the run, and that
- 33:57Speaker 1: will see where we're at there and we'll see if
- 33:59Speaker 1: when UH can play that serviceable at times make enough
- 34:05Speaker 1: plays through the air and it could be a dump off,
- 34:10Speaker 1: you know, nothing wrong with that. Whatever, just keep the
- 34:13Speaker 1: chains going. And you know they they haven't looked great
- 34:16Speaker 1: on defense, u per se, but you can always look
- 34:21Speaker 1: to that one game where yardage wise we look pretty shitty,
- 34:24Speaker 1: but we did, you know, we kept stopping them and
- 34:28Speaker 1: until the bitter end when they finally scored. You know
- 34:31Speaker 1: a lot of that all that pretty much. You know,
- 34:34Speaker 1: obviously it's tough to bring down We know that, but
- 34:38Speaker 1: you know that the offense was just so so so bad.
- 34:43Speaker 1: So you're right. It is a really good test. Welcome
- 34:46Speaker 1: back Addison. And it does sound like hart Grove is
- 34:51Speaker 1: gonna play. But it's Monday. It could be more sore
- 34:55Speaker 1: than we think. You know, you never know, but it's
- 35:00Speaker 1: sounds like he's gonna play based off of what Kaoc
- 35:03Speaker 1: was saying. But you never know, you know, you never know.
- 35:08Speaker 1: But I don't want to force them back. But it
- 35:10Speaker 1: just sounds like a bump, some bruises and like, you know,
- 35:14Speaker 1: some tenderness. All right. So the Minnesota Gophers versus Rutgers,
- 35:21Speaker 1: we know each other very very well. Whether it's PJ
- 35:26Speaker 1: playing for the coach that the head coach. We know
- 35:30Speaker 1: on the defense. In offensive side, they have former coaches.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Last year they got the buy. This year we got
- 35:38Speaker 1: the buy, so we got an extra week to prep.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Rutgers made the Iowa offense look revolutionary. No really, they
- 35:50Speaker 1: were throwing the ball deep and all this. It was crazy.
- 35:53Speaker 1: So they're they're giving up a buck fifty one on
- 35:56Speaker 1: the ground, giving up twenty four points a game. But
- 36:03Speaker 1: good old Ethan, who you know the Greek rifle like
- 36:08Speaker 1: at the end of his red shirt freshman year, when
- 36:10Speaker 1: Morgan was kind of in and out of the lineup,
- 36:13Speaker 1: he got a lot of playing time. And I remember
- 36:15Speaker 1: that Badgers game where it looked like, Okay, this kid's
- 36:20Speaker 1: this kid's gonna be something. Man. I like what I see.
- 36:22Speaker 1: But you know, the offensive coordinator was here and with
- 36:27Speaker 1: Flack for quite a while. Then he went to Penn State,
- 36:30Speaker 1: which I get he's from the East anyway, but he actually,
- 36:33Speaker 1: you know, Rutgers is his home basically, so he went there.
- 36:37Speaker 1: He's been there two years. And I gave give credit,
- 36:40Speaker 1: like he was recruited to play in a system like this.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Our system is more pro oriented now. So he wasn't
- 36:47Speaker 1: good in that he missed so many throws, But then again,
- 36:51Speaker 1: you put him in a system he's not good at,
- 36:53Speaker 1: so we can't just blame the kid and that's it.
- 36:56Speaker 1: So he's thrived last year. He was very good this year. Man,
- 36:59Speaker 1: he is. It's pretty damn great, to be honest with you.
- 37:02Speaker 1: He's played really, really good. So he's gonna he'll miss
- 37:07Speaker 1: some throws, you know, he'll he'll throw it into the
- 37:10Speaker 1: dirt really fast, or maybe it'll be just a dump off.
- 37:13Speaker 1: But he wants to show his arm. He'll do some
- 37:15Speaker 1: of that. But our secondary, like it did against Cal,
- 37:19Speaker 1: is going to get tested because they love to throw
- 37:22Speaker 1: the thing deep too, but they can run and we
- 37:25Speaker 1: know he's a good, big, big kid too, you know,
- 37:28Speaker 1: so this is a test in their defense. Man. Like
- 37:33Speaker 1: I said that Iowa game, like, the thing is like,
- 37:38Speaker 1: we have to be able to move the chains, run
- 37:41Speaker 1: the ball. We won't know if Darius Taylor's back, because
- 37:44Speaker 1: you know the big ten two hours before you'll get
- 37:49Speaker 1: if it's questionable, doubtful, out whatever, that's when you get it.
- 37:53Speaker 1: I don't anticipate him being back, but he you know,
- 37:55Speaker 1: if you look at it, you know he We did
- 37:58Speaker 1: get a buy in there. You know, we had Cal
- 38:02Speaker 1: that a bye, so you know he is removed quite
- 38:05Speaker 1: sometime from that game too. But it's tough to say.
- 38:08Speaker 1: But femi oh igible Ogibo, that kid, that retro freshman.
- 38:14Speaker 1: He was running hard. So I think we'll be okay there.
- 38:18Speaker 1: But we have to run the ball and keep that
- 38:23Speaker 1: potent offense that really wasn't too potent last year. But
- 38:28Speaker 1: we don't have the same defense, right so it's gonna
- 38:31Speaker 1: be interesting. But they're on the road this year. But
- 38:34Speaker 1: at home, dude, they have I mean they have twelve
- 38:37Speaker 1: over twelve. I think it's like twelve hundred yards passing
- 38:41Speaker 1: like they're real. They have a bunch of receiving first downs.
- 38:47Speaker 1: It's they're a legit offense. They're averaging forty basically forty
- 38:52Speaker 1: two points a game, and Iowa was known to be
- 38:57Speaker 1: a steady defender. Miami Ohio a pretty good MAC team.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Ohio just in general is too. And so that was
- 39:07Speaker 1: a really close game, thirty four to thirty one. So
- 39:10Speaker 1: that's where we're gonna be at right there. That thirty
- 39:12Speaker 1: four to thirty one. That that I think low twenties,
- 39:15Speaker 1: high thirties, or I should say low thirties, high twenties.
- 39:21Speaker 1: So yeah, man, it just comes down the long story short,
- 39:27Speaker 1: you know, like do we wanna do we want to
- 39:31Speaker 1: have seven eight wins? There's nine games left? Can we
- 39:35Speaker 1: go five and four? Can we go six and three?
- 39:38Speaker 1: Or where we go? You know, four and five or worse.
- 39:41Speaker 1: We are a five and a half point favorite, and
- 39:44Speaker 1: fifty one and a half is the over under.
- 39:53Speaker 2: That fifty one seems pretty accurate. I think, yeah, look
- 40:00Speaker 2: sure on calac Manus and I think, you know, what
- 40:02Speaker 2: scares me a little bit, like you mentioned, is their
- 40:04Speaker 2: offensive success against Iowa, who generally has a pretty staunch defense,
- 40:09Speaker 2: And unless they're in a down yere and we don't
- 40:12Speaker 2: know it yet, that means they can put up points
- 40:15Speaker 2: against a really good defense. Our defense, I wouldn't say
- 40:18Speaker 2: is really good. I'd say we're average, maybe slightly above average.
- 40:25Speaker 2: You know, Cal kind of exposed the secondary, but you
- 40:29Speaker 2: know it's not like Cal put up thirty on us.
- 40:31Speaker 2: You know, they put up what twenty seven so close.
- 40:36Speaker 1: And we spoon fed one of the touchdowns.
- 40:39Speaker 2: Yep, So you know, so we'll call it twenty one.
- 40:43Speaker 2: And you know, obviously there's some familiarity with players and coaches,
- 40:50Speaker 2: but on our end, we've got new coordinators that are
- 40:55Speaker 2: not familiar with these old ones, and so maybe that's
- 41:00Speaker 2: not as important as it was last year. But it's
- 41:03Speaker 2: a big game for us. You know, they beat us
- 41:05Speaker 2: last year. We're at home. Like you said, as far
- 41:11Speaker 2: as the swing of the season, you're not gonna get
- 41:13Speaker 2: many Rutgers to play. You're gonna be playing Ohio State.
- 41:16Speaker 2: You've got to deal with Washington and some other teams
- 41:22Speaker 2: where you can't just be like winnable games you have
- 41:25Speaker 2: to win, I guess, is my point, if you want
- 41:29Speaker 2: to have a successful season. The Cow loss kind of
- 41:33Speaker 2: hurt there because that was another winnable game that you
- 41:36Speaker 2: want to you know, make Hay when you can, and
- 41:39Speaker 2: you know, if you drop these two, it's just not
- 41:42Speaker 2: you know, you're making it much more difficult for yourself
- 41:46Speaker 2: to win eight games or what have you. Ruckers, you know, Ethan,
- 41:54Speaker 2: you know, I guess I differ from you. I didn't
- 41:56Speaker 2: really see a lot of success from me. You look
- 41:59Speaker 2: like another iteration of Morgan to me at the time.
- 42:03Speaker 2: And I didn't catch the highlights against Iowa, but I will.
- 42:07Speaker 1: Last year he had a really good year.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Yeah I realized that. But if he's really lighting it
- 42:13Speaker 2: up now, he's improved from last year, you know, that
- 42:18Speaker 2: could be a situation because I don't know about our
- 42:20Speaker 2: defensive backs. They you know, obviously they've got an extra
- 42:25Speaker 2: week too, you know, game plan against this squad, and
- 42:32Speaker 2: I just don't know, like Ruckers is changing on a
- 42:35Speaker 2: year to year basis as far as like improving and
- 42:39Speaker 2: recruiting and all that stuff. So it's hard to see
- 42:42Speaker 2: where they're at. But you know, if they pass us
- 42:46Speaker 2: Chris as far as maybe record and just quality of roster,
- 42:52Speaker 2: and that's another big thing that you're gonna want to,
- 42:54Speaker 2: you know, look at and if you beat us two
- 42:56Speaker 2: years in a row, it's kind of hard to say
- 42:58Speaker 2: that you haven't passed us, right, And that's where I'd
- 43:04Speaker 2: be a little more concerned than anything else. But as
- 43:07Speaker 2: far as the game goes, I think it's a must
- 43:09Speaker 2: win if you have to. If you have a must
- 43:12Speaker 2: win this season, this is a big one. I mean
- 43:16Speaker 2: it's not like, you know, a rivalry game in the
- 43:19Speaker 2: sense that it's a trophy game, but you know, considering
- 43:22Speaker 2: the relationships between the staffs and players, Yeah, this is
- 43:28Speaker 2: is a rivalry game here. Yeah, I like, you know,
- 43:32Speaker 2: I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go the opposite way. I'm
- 43:35Speaker 2: gonna go. Rutgers wins AH by three, probably both in
- 43:43Speaker 2: the twenties, a hard fought game. I think turnovers will
- 43:50Speaker 2: be the difference whichever, something that Minnesota hasn't forced much of, right,
- 43:57Speaker 2: And you know, generally flex teams don't turn the bottle
- 44:00Speaker 2: a whole lot, but no brain farts like the Parish
- 44:05Speaker 2: had last last game. Protect the ball. If you can
- 44:09Speaker 2: run it, run it and obviously stop the run and
- 44:14Speaker 2: pressure Calik Mannus. If you could do that, I think
- 44:17Speaker 2: you got a good chance to win. But unfortunately, I
- 44:20Speaker 2: don't think they're gonna do it. I think they're gonna
- 44:23Speaker 2: lose to Rutgers by three. And let's hope I'm wrong
- 44:26Speaker 2: about that. I'd love to be wrong and be on
- 44:28Speaker 2: the show next week talking about how wrong I was.
- 44:32Speaker 2: But I think Rutgers wins this one, and.
- 44:34Speaker 1: I'm gonna say we win it. And it may be
- 44:37Speaker 1: and I say this a lot, even if it's the
- 44:39Speaker 1: last second field though, you know, just winning it. Just
- 44:42Speaker 1: win the game somehow, I think they will. He usually
- 44:46Speaker 1: bounces back pretty good from you know, losses PJ Flack
- 44:50Speaker 1: and also you know, having the bye week and whatnot.
- 44:53Speaker 1: But for the record, I already have a plus six
- 44:58Speaker 1: and a half in on Rutgers, so I am anticipating,
- 45:02Speaker 1: like you mentioned, a very tight game.
- 45:05Speaker 4: And yeah, I don't know, man, it's just it's it's
- 45:12Speaker 4: you hate to like chalk it up to this game,
- 45:16Speaker 4: and man, but it really does point to how you're
- 45:19Speaker 4: gonna do because you know, we have some tough games
- 45:23Speaker 4: coming up.
- 45:23Speaker 1: I mentioned it again at Ohio State at Oregon at Iowa,
- 45:27Speaker 1: no matter what form of Iowa is at Iowa is
- 45:30Speaker 1: just not a gummea, you know, or not even there's
- 45:32Speaker 1: really not too many guineas. But but yeah, I'm gonna
- 45:35Speaker 1: say they win. I think they can ball control even
- 45:39Speaker 1: if they don't have tailor that that youngster's looking good.
- 45:42Speaker 1: So I think we'll be able to. And I'm thinking that,
- 45:46Speaker 1: you know, Jalen Smith is probably gonna catch three or
- 45:50Speaker 1: four balls, and I'll say anywhere from like like maybe
- 45:54Speaker 1: fifty yards, seventy five yards something like that, just because
- 45:59Speaker 1: there's there. He's not good. Now, I'm not like you said,
- 46:03Speaker 1: I'm not I'm not saying ours is per se. But
- 46:06Speaker 1: that's the whole moving the chains, you know, eight to
- 46:10Speaker 1: twelve plays type stuff. And if you need that, we
- 46:14Speaker 1: can give you that a lot of times. So and
- 46:17Speaker 1: I just like the way Femi, this red shirt freshman man,
- 46:20Speaker 1: he he he just keeps plugging away and he's hard
- 46:24Speaker 1: to take down, especially for how young he is. And
- 46:28Speaker 1: he and I know he missed the spring. I was
- 46:30Speaker 1: listening to the press conference today. I kind of forgot
- 46:32Speaker 1: about that he missed the spring. So you know, he's
- 46:36Speaker 1: he looked damn good in the in that last game
- 46:39Speaker 1: when we had to go to him. Hopefully Cam Davis
- 46:42Speaker 1: can look pretty good too, and you know, these receivers
- 46:47Speaker 1: got to catch the ball to it. We believe in
- 46:48Speaker 1: this young quarterback. But you know PJ said this a
- 46:52Speaker 1: while ago, like, dude, everyone around him has to up
- 46:55Speaker 1: their game, and you know so. But the secondary, funny enough,
- 47:01Speaker 1: especially the safeties, which if you look at the top
- 47:03Speaker 1: three of them, they have a lot of experience and
- 47:06Speaker 1: they're one of the better ones in the country. But
- 47:09Speaker 1: they gotta start playing like it. And that means, you know,
- 47:13Speaker 1: don't get beat on a double move, don't try to
- 47:17Speaker 1: do too much, you know, and that about wraps it up.
- 47:23Speaker 1: Hopefully we can we can double dip, you know, hopefully
- 47:26Speaker 1: we can double dip. And it's not a it's not
- 47:29Speaker 1: back to back losses for us, but yeah, hopefully hopefully
- 47:35Speaker 1: we get it done. Man.
- 47:38Speaker 2: Yeah, both teams kind of an improve it situation here,
- 47:40Speaker 2: like who are you identity type of thing. Obviously young
- 47:44Speaker 2: in both seasons and we want to kind of know
- 47:46Speaker 2: what we can hang our hat on.
- 47:47Speaker 1: For the season.
- 47:49Speaker 2: But yeah, Vikings in Dublin Gophers at home against Rutgers
- 47:53Speaker 2: we'll talk to you next week.
