- 0:02Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:05Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:08Speaker 1: Amy Torber and coming up on today's show, Sophie Keisha
- 0:12Speaker 1: throws serious shade at her ex-fiancé Maddy Garrick, the ungrateful
- 0:17Speaker 1: influences at this year's Australian Open and our Friday Debrief.
- 0:21Speaker 1: The first M. Davies Hens weekend in Bali has been
- 0:24Speaker 1: making headlines. The bride-to-be's guest list is under the spotlight,
- 0:28Speaker 1: as well as the outfit she wore to a beach club. Kate,
- 0:30Speaker 1: can you tell us more? Well, the mainstream media have
- 0:33Speaker 1: been pretty cruel about Em's hens look. So for those
- 0:36Speaker 1: who haven't seen it, she wore this white bandeau-style bra
- 0:40Speaker 1: top and had a mini skirt made up of tulle.
- 0:42Speaker 1: It kind of looked like a tutu. And what set
- 0:44Speaker 1: people off the most was the visible G-string that sat
- 0:47Speaker 1: just above the skirt. which was embroidered with the name Mrs. G.
- 0:52Speaker 1: And all I could think about was the Chris Lilley character, Mr. G,
- 0:55Speaker 1: when I saw it. It reminded me more of Kath
- 0:58Speaker 1: and Kim. Remember, Kim used to rock a very visible
- 1:00Speaker 1: G string. I can see why this G string was
- 1:03Speaker 1: a bit of a focus in the mainstream media, because
- 1:05Speaker 1: every single Instagram story I saw on Saturday featured it.
- 1:09Speaker 1: It was either a close-up of Em twerking and the
- 1:12Speaker 1: G string in it, or just dancing around. She was
- 1:15Speaker 1: having the best time. She probably didn't care what was
- 1:18Speaker 1: being written about her. Well, the Daily Mail ran with
- 1:20Speaker 1: a story asking its readers to weigh in as to
- 1:23Speaker 1: whether they thought the outfit was appropriate for her hen's party.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I mean, they clearly were expecting some pretty vile commentary
- 1:30Speaker 1: on this. There were over 200 comments on the story.
- 1:33Speaker 1: And I was actually taken aback about how vile they were.
- 1:37Speaker 1: I mean, I know the Daily Mail is known for
- 1:38Speaker 1: that type of commentary, but it was next level. I
- 1:41Speaker 1: really felt for Em. Now, her outfit even made international
- 1:45Speaker 1: news with The Sun running with the headline, tacky mum
- 1:48Speaker 1: leaves little to the imagination in hen do bra and
- 1:50Speaker 1: skirt duo that even show off her G-string. I really
- 1:54Speaker 1: felt like these media publications weren't asking people to weigh
- 1:57Speaker 1: in on the outfit. They were more asking people to
- 1:59Speaker 1: weigh in about how they felt about a mum wearing
- 2:02Speaker 1: an outfit like this. There was a lot of shame involved.
- 2:05Speaker 1: And I felt for Em because this was literally her
- 2:07Speaker 1: first trip away from her daughter and It's such an
- 2:10Speaker 1: exciting time in her life. She's been juggling motherhood and
- 2:13Speaker 1: also planning her wedding. Why can't she let her hair
- 2:15Speaker 1: down and wear a cool outfit? Does being a mom
- 2:18Speaker 1: mean that you're not allowed to show off any skin?
- 2:20Speaker 1: You're not allowed to wear something cool. Look, it's not
- 2:23Speaker 1: really my vibe. I personally wouldn't be rocking a G-string
- 2:26Speaker 1: to my hen's party, but we're all very different people.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Em used to own her own fashion brand. She's very
- 2:31Speaker 1: up on the trend. But also this was a hen's
- 2:33Speaker 1: party in Bali where everyone was wearing bathers. It was
- 2:36Speaker 1: more of a bather bottoms than- a lingerie G-string. Yeah,
- 2:39Speaker 1: I don't like the shaming. That's what I find vile
- 2:42Speaker 1: about it. Yeah, that really grinded my gears. And the
- 2:44Speaker 1: thing is, as you said, Amy, she used to own
- 2:46Speaker 1: her own fashion label. She's very up with the trends.
- 2:48Speaker 1: And back in July last year, models were wearing exposed
- 2:51Speaker 1: G-strings on the runway at Paris Fashion Week. It's a
- 2:53Speaker 1: trend that's trying to make a comeback for quite a
- 2:55Speaker 1: couple of years now. Also, I feel like because she
- 2:58Speaker 1: is such a massive influencer, she's trying to make a
- 3:01Speaker 1: statement at her hen's party. She doesn't want to copy
- 3:04Speaker 1: what everyone else has done. I've never seen this visible
- 3:06Speaker 1: G-string used as a hen's party outfit it's a bit
- 3:09Speaker 1: like when we saw Tammy trying to have a pink
- 3:12Speaker 1: dress and have that moment they're all trying to have
- 3:14Speaker 1: a moment and create a trend I wonder if we'll
- 3:16Speaker 1: be seeing more visible hen's party g-strings I somehow don't
- 3:19Speaker 1: think it's going to go off as much as Tammy's
- 3:21Speaker 1: pink dress I'm actually more impressed that Em managed to
- 3:24Speaker 1: wear this outfit while she had her period because she
- 3:26Speaker 1: opened up in her stories that when she landed in
- 3:29Speaker 1: Bali she got her first period post-baby and But the timing,
- 3:33Speaker 1: I mean, doesn't this always happen? Your period always rears
- 3:35Speaker 1: its head at the most inopportune moment. Yeah, isn't it
- 3:38Speaker 1: the way anytime you have to wear white, that's when
- 3:41Speaker 1: your period arrives. Now, everyone has been really invested in
- 3:45Speaker 1: Em's hen's party guest list. And that is because Em's
- 3:47Speaker 1: bridesmaid and fellow influencer, Lily Brown, has a longstanding feud
- 3:52Speaker 1: with Em's other besties, Lucy Jackson and Nikki Westcott. And
- 3:56Speaker 1: seeing as Lily is a bridesmaid, you would assume that
- 3:58Speaker 1: she would have had a lot to do with the
- 3:59Speaker 1: planning of the event. So I was wondering whether Lucy
- 4:02Speaker 1: and Nikki's invite might have got lost in the mail. Well,
- 4:04Speaker 1: some people thought that Lily's invite got lost in the
- 4:06Speaker 1: mail because in some of the early Instagram stories that
- 4:09Speaker 1: were coming out from Bali, Lily wasn't in any of them.
- 4:12Speaker 1: And people were like, where is she? But she suddenly
- 4:15Speaker 1: popped up the next day. And Lucy and Nikki were there.
- 4:19Speaker 1: So Lily did the right thing inviting them. I would
- 4:22Speaker 1: have loved to be a fly on the wall, particularly...
- 4:24Speaker 1: It looked like a very boozy weekend. And that's usually
- 4:27Speaker 1: when fights break out. They had those IV drips after
- 4:31Speaker 1: the first night to help with the hangovers. And they said,
- 4:33Speaker 1: these are ahead of round two. I mean, I would
- 4:36Speaker 1: pay a lot of money to know what actually happened
- 4:37Speaker 1: behind the scenes because surely once alcohol's involved, feelings are
- 4:41Speaker 1: going to get out there. A notable absentee was Tammy Hembrough.
- 4:44Speaker 1: So Em and Tammy, they've been friends for a really
- 4:46Speaker 1: long time now. And Em attended Tammy's wedding back in November.
- 4:50Speaker 1: And after Em shared a reel of the event, a
- 4:52Speaker 1: follower asked why Tammy wasn't there, to which Em responded
- 4:56Speaker 1: she had to look after her bubbers. I mean, Tammy
- 4:58Speaker 1: has done a lot of traveling at the end of
- 5:00Speaker 1: last year and also this year. She probably just couldn't
- 5:03Speaker 1: add another overseas trip to her list. And she is
- 5:06Speaker 1: a newlywed, probably wanting to spend a lot of time
- 5:08Speaker 1: with Matt. It's really hard for me to get my
- 5:10Speaker 1: head around how quickly this wedding is approaching because it
- 5:13Speaker 1: only feels like yesterday when Em got engaged. But that
- 5:16Speaker 1: was two years ago back in March 2023. So Em's
- 5:19Speaker 1: engagement made big news too because she got engaged under
- 5:22Speaker 1: the Brooklyn Bridge in New York and everyone just thought
- 5:24Speaker 1: it was the most aesthetic proposal. Now Em also only
- 5:28Speaker 1: just gave birth to her first child Isla back in August.
- 5:31Speaker 1: So her and Joel have packed a lot in the
- 5:34Speaker 1: last two years. I'm so excited for the wedding. It's
- 5:36Speaker 1: on the 22nd of February. Do we think from the
- 5:38Speaker 1: choice of hen's party outfit that we're going to see
- 5:40Speaker 1: something quite outrageous in a number of her wedding looks?
- 5:43Speaker 2: Yes.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I think she'll have a similar second or third dress
- 5:47Speaker 1: to Tammy Hembrough's. You know that one she wore later
- 5:49Speaker 1: in the night when she was cutting the cake? The
- 5:51Speaker 1: short one. Yeah, it kind of looked like lingerie. I
- 5:53Speaker 1: think something like that.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Serena Williams.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Serena Williams. Yeah, I don't think she plays, does she?
- 5:59Speaker 1: I know, they say Sabrina Williams. Sabrina? Wait, is that true?
- 6:03Speaker 1: Serena Williams.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Yeah, Serena.
- 6:05Speaker 1: You said Sabrina. A number of influencers have been slammed
- 6:09Speaker 1: for their lack of tennis knowledge and labelled ungrateful after
- 6:13Speaker 1: being gifted free airfares and prime seats to the Australian
- 6:16Speaker 1: Open by big-name brands. One influencer was caught on camera
- 6:20Speaker 1: saying she predicted Sabrina Williams could win this year's Open,
- 6:24Speaker 1: whilst Tammy Hembrough told her Snapchat followers this. Heading to
- 6:28Speaker 1: the Australian Open. Watch some tennis. I definitely won't be watching. No,
- 6:36Speaker 1: I'll be. You don't like tennis? I'm not, like, into
- 6:41Speaker 1: tennis that much.
- 6:42Speaker 3: I'm only into it when I'm there.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Yeah, like, I'll watch to, like, fit in. To look
- 6:50Speaker 1: like I belong. This is a very privileged comment. Oh,
- 6:55Speaker 1: I'll get into it whilst I'm there. I'll get into
- 6:57Speaker 1: it whilst I have the best seats in the house. Well,
- 7:00Speaker 1: to add insult to injury, Matt and Tammy's seats looked
- 7:02Speaker 1: like they were literally sitting on center court. And as
- 7:05Speaker 1: a tennis fan, I couldn't help but feel so jealous.
- 7:08Speaker 1: It does leave a bit of a bad taste in
- 7:10Speaker 1: your mouth. The Sabrina Williams comment really throws me because
- 7:13Speaker 1: obviously that influencer was referring to Serena Williams. But She's
- 7:17Speaker 1: been retired for a couple of years now, so who
- 7:19Speaker 1: was she actually referring to? I think she might have
- 7:21Speaker 1: been trying to say Sablenka, which is one of the
- 7:23Speaker 1: women who is set to take out this year's title,
- 7:25Speaker 1: who won last year's Australian Open. We're just back to
- 7:28Speaker 1: Tammy's commentary. She has been slammed by tennis fans. One
- 7:32Speaker 1: called her out online saying, I'm so sick of brands
- 7:34Speaker 1: sending influencers who don't watch tennis. Another wrote, I get
- 7:38Speaker 1: that influencers are there to promote and do a job,
- 7:40Speaker 1: but it's such a waste of space slash tickets. to
- 7:43Speaker 1: send people who don't watch or pretend to like tennis.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I've really noticed in the past couple of years that
- 7:49Speaker 1: the Australian Open has had this transformation. It's become a
- 7:52Speaker 1: cool girl event. Everyone wants to be seen at it.
- 7:54Speaker 1: And I think it has a lot to do with
- 7:56Speaker 1: the fact that horse racing is very on the nose.
- 7:59Speaker 1: That used to be an event where you could get
- 8:00Speaker 1: dressed up, you could show off your outfits. And now
- 8:03Speaker 1: that's what the Australian Open and also F1 has become. Yeah,
- 8:06Speaker 1: and back when horse racing was really popular... The high
- 8:09Speaker 1: profile people going weren't there to see the horse racing.
- 8:11Speaker 1: They were there to socialize and party in the marquees.
- 8:14Speaker 1: And that's the thing with the Australian Open. They have
- 8:17Speaker 1: created such an amazing event that there's a huge fan
- 8:19Speaker 1: village there now. You can eat, you can drink there.
- 8:22Speaker 1: There's so many things to do that you don't actually
- 8:24Speaker 1: even have to watch the tennis. You can just be
- 8:26Speaker 1: a part of the atmosphere. And I get the vibe
- 8:28Speaker 1: that a lot of influencers are spending more time taking
- 8:30Speaker 1: photos of them with the court in the background than
- 8:33Speaker 1: they're actually spending watching the game. Whoever is doing the
- 8:36Speaker 1: marketing and the brand partnerships at the Australian Open needs
- 8:39Speaker 1: to be commended because over the last couple of years,
- 8:41Speaker 1: we have seen it go from strength to strength. There
- 8:43Speaker 1: are a lot of high profile brands that you wouldn't
- 8:45Speaker 1: normally associate with the tennis getting on board. And also
- 8:48Speaker 1: a lot of corporate tickets being sold. So brands like
- 8:51Speaker 1: White Fox Boutique, they're jumping on board and buying boxes
- 8:54Speaker 1: at the tennis and hosting influencers, a bit like we've
- 8:57Speaker 1: seen at concerts. I've also noticed that a lot of
- 8:59Speaker 1: these clothing brands like White Fox and Frevenue are they
- 9:02Speaker 1: have incorporated tennis court into their summer launches as well.
- 9:07Speaker 1: So they understand the power that the Australian Open has
- 9:11Speaker 1: and that people want to look the part when they're
- 9:12Speaker 1: going there. There's been a lot of eyes on the
- 9:14Speaker 1: Ralph Lauren influencer activation. So Ralph Lauren are the Australian
- 9:19Speaker 1: Open's official clothing partner this year. They have been for
- 9:21Speaker 1: the last four years and they have put on a
- 9:24Speaker 1: massive influencer trips. So they've been flying out a lot
- 9:27Speaker 1: of influencers and putting them up in hotels and giving
- 9:29Speaker 1: them a real luxurious experience. Of course, they're also getting
- 9:32Speaker 1: prime seats to the tenor. So some of the big
- 9:34Speaker 1: name influencers in attendance at the Ralph Lauren event have
- 9:37Speaker 1: been Sammy Robinson, Millie Ford, Sammy Guggenheimer, Rebecca Harding and
- 9:42Speaker 1: Sophia Begg. Morgan Waterhouse also got an invite. I'm not
- 9:45Speaker 1: quite sure how he managed to get a ticket because
- 9:48Speaker 1: he really isn't in the same playing field as a
- 9:50Speaker 1: number of those influencers. It's quite interesting because in one
- 9:54Speaker 1: YouTube video, an influencer spoke about how Ralph Lauren had
- 9:58Speaker 1: brought in an expert to bring their guests up to
- 10:01Speaker 1: speed on the rules of tennis. Let's have a listen
- 10:04Speaker 1: to what was said.
- 10:06Speaker 4: Once we got there, we headed into the Polo Ralph
- 10:08Speaker 4: Lauren suite. They had cocktails and canapes for us and
- 10:12Speaker 4: we just chilled and talked and got picks and And
- 10:16Speaker 4: then Ava was here teaching us a bit about the
- 10:19Speaker 4: tennis because we didn't really know what was going on.
- 10:22Speaker 4: And then we headed down into the court. This was
- 10:25Speaker 4: my first time at the Australian Open. And honestly, I'm
- 10:29Speaker 4: a tennis girl now.
- 10:30Speaker 1: There's also been a number of influencers called out for
- 10:32Speaker 1: talking during games. And for anyone who is familiar with tennis,
- 10:36Speaker 1: it is a game of etiquette. You have to be
- 10:38Speaker 1: quiet during the points. And the players will be quite
- 10:41Speaker 1: vocal if people aren't being quiet. I'm ever watching a
- 10:44Speaker 1: number of games where there'd be some fans who were
- 10:47Speaker 1: cheering during points and the tennis players would get really
- 10:50Speaker 1: agitated and speak to the umpire because it's just against
- 10:53Speaker 1: the rules. You can't have people barracking or speaking during points. Yeah, well,
- 10:57Speaker 1: sports presenter and producer Michelle Escobar weighed into the debate
- 11:00Speaker 1: on TikTok saying this.
- 11:02Speaker 5: I'm talking about the influencers who are getting paid by brands,
- 11:07Speaker 5: who are working with brands, who are getting very privileged
- 11:11Speaker 5: positions and freebies and are also working at the Australian
- 11:16Speaker 5: Open while not even knowing the basic rules of tennis.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Now, up until a.
- 11:20Speaker 5: Few years ago, you had to work very, very hard
- 11:23Speaker 5: to be able to break into the media landscape. But
- 11:26Speaker 5: now it just seems like if you have a lot
- 11:28Speaker 5: of followers, you can jump the queue. The problem with
- 11:31Speaker 5: that is that you're just hiring people based on numbers
- 11:34Speaker 5: and not knowledge. So they don't actually know what they're
- 11:38Speaker 5: talking about.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Michelle went on to say that there were a number
- 11:41Speaker 1: of sports content creators doing really good work at the
- 11:44Speaker 1: Australian Open who have a genuine passion and interest for
- 11:47Speaker 1: the game and she hoped that they got more opportunities. Look,
- 11:50Speaker 1: I can totally see where Michelle is coming from because
- 11:53Speaker 1: it is utterly frustrating as a tennis lover to see
- 11:56Speaker 1: people there who don't necessarily appreciate it and who appear
- 11:59Speaker 1: to be taking the piss and making a bit of
- 12:01Speaker 1: a mockery of such a beautiful game. But we've got
- 12:04Speaker 1: to look at it from a marketing perspective because and
- 12:07Speaker 1: which brands are inviting which influencers, it doesn't really make
- 12:10Speaker 1: sense for White Fox Boutique to invite a sports content creator.
- 12:15Speaker 1: They want to invite a high-profile influencer who's going to
- 12:17Speaker 1: look good in the clothes, who's going to take lots
- 12:20Speaker 1: of photos and be able to provide that content they
- 12:22Speaker 1: want afterwards. It's also helping open up the sport to
- 12:26Speaker 1: a new category of people who haven't watched tennis before. Yeah,
- 12:30Speaker 1: it's all about getting the Australian Open brand and the
- 12:32Speaker 1: game of tennis out to as many eyeballs as possible.
- 12:35Speaker 1: And that's what's happening when you invite all of these influencers.
- 12:38Speaker 1: I think it also just comes down to the individual
- 12:40Speaker 1: responsibility of the influencer to not act like a jerk
- 12:43Speaker 1: and have respect for the event that they've been invited to.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Hopefully for some influencers, this might have kicked off their
- 12:49Speaker 1: love of the sport now.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:51Speaker 1: And I think it just shows what a great job
- 12:52Speaker 1: the Australian Open's marketing team have done to actually... put
- 12:56Speaker 1: the event on such a pedestal that people are jealous
- 12:59Speaker 1: that influencers are getting free tickets because it's not a
- 13:02Speaker 1: new thing. Influencers are gifted free tickets to concerts, so
- 13:06Speaker 1: many other sporting events, but it's really put people's noses
- 13:09Speaker 1: out of joint because they want to be there so much. Also,
- 13:11Speaker 1: we've got to remember that this has actually grown from
- 13:14Speaker 1: just being a sporting event. As we've discussed, there's a
- 13:16Speaker 1: real festival vibe around this. There's pop-up bars. There's a
- 13:20Speaker 1: lot of brands. They're trying to sell products. So That
- 13:23Speaker 1: is also why people are reaching out to lifestyle influencers
- 13:26Speaker 1: and not just sporting figures. The funny thing about all
- 13:29Speaker 1: of this is poor Mads. She didn't sign up for this.
- 13:34Speaker 2: She got really skinny, really fit, sexy mama when we
- 13:38Speaker 2: started dating. Now you've got this.
- 13:42Speaker 3: So beautiful.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, tickle, tickle, tickle. Pajama entrepreneur Sophie Keisha
- 13:52Speaker 1: has thrown serious shade at her ex-fiancé Maddy Garrick during
- 13:56Speaker 1: a lengthy Q & A with her new girlfriend Maddy Prespakas. Sophie,
- 14:00Speaker 1: who is just weeks away from giving birth, couldn't resist
- 14:03Speaker 1: referring to her ex as a cheater and said she's
- 14:06Speaker 1: finally found someone who gets on with her family. So
- 14:10Speaker 1: the whole idea of this Q & A was for
- 14:12Speaker 1: followers to get to know her new girlfriend. And that's
- 14:14Speaker 1: why I think it was extra awkward that these shots
- 14:16Speaker 1: were being fired. In saying that though, I was really
- 14:19Speaker 1: invested in this Q & A because I've been really
- 14:22Speaker 1: curious to see the dynamic between Sophie and a new girlfriend.
- 14:25Speaker 1: There is a 10-year age gap. So I wanted to see...
- 14:29Speaker 1: what they're actually like behind closed doors. And we were
- 14:31Speaker 1: granted a half an hour glimpse into their lives. So
- 14:34Speaker 1: Sophie explained that her kids were in bed early for once.
- 14:37Speaker 1: So it was a great opportunity for her followers to
- 14:39Speaker 1: get to know Maddie, who she referred to as the
- 14:41Speaker 1: greatest human in the world. Big title. Now she went
- 14:44Speaker 1: public about her relationship with the AFLW player back in
- 14:48Speaker 1: November in an exclusive interview with Stellar Magazine, where she
- 14:51Speaker 1: spoke about her pregnancy and love life. It was a
- 14:55Speaker 1: really casual Q & A because both of the women
- 14:57Speaker 1: were dressed in their PJs, Keisha branded, of course. And
- 15:00Speaker 1: Sophie was enjoying cheesecake from Uber Eats. I think that's
- 15:03Speaker 1: one of her pregnancy cravings. I was going to say,
- 15:06Speaker 1: tell me you're pregnant without telling me you're pregnant. It
- 15:08Speaker 1: sounds delightful. She did add a disclaimer in the question
- 15:11Speaker 1: box saying that there was a no dickhead policy and
- 15:14Speaker 1: people would be blocked immediately if they crossed the line
- 15:17Speaker 1: with their questions. Now, this Q & A did spark
- 15:20Speaker 1: a lot of commentary about Sophie and Maddie's dynamic. And
- 15:23Speaker 1: I had to agree with a few comments in our
- 15:24Speaker 1: Facebook community. At times, it did feel like Sophie was
- 15:28Speaker 1: almost parenting Maddie and coaching her to give her the
- 15:31Speaker 1: right answer. So one of our listeners joked that they
- 15:33Speaker 1: were worried Maddie would get a question wrong and get
- 15:35Speaker 1: told off. It did feel like that. I mean, as
- 15:39Speaker 1: I said, there is a 10-year age gap between the couple.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Maddie's only 24. And I have to say, as a
- 15:44Speaker 1: side note, she seemed really sweet and like a nice person.
- 15:48Speaker 1: She seemed to answer every question almost like she was
- 15:51Speaker 1: being interviewed on the footy field. She was very diplomatic
- 15:54Speaker 1: and sort of matter of fact about it. You could
- 15:56Speaker 1: tell that she was really desperate and under pressure to
- 15:59Speaker 1: say the right thing as well because Sophie kept glaring
- 16:02Speaker 1: at her and sort of being like, hmm, yeah. So
- 16:05Speaker 1: not only was she trying to impress Sophie's followers but
- 16:08Speaker 1: also Sophie.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Now there was a question about the age gap and
- 16:12Speaker 1: whether it felt loud at times. This is what Maddie said. No.
- 16:15Speaker 3: No. Like, at the start, honestly, I was a bit like, wow,
- 16:21Speaker 3: I didn't plan to have two kids at my age. But,
- 16:24Speaker 3: you know, I feel like so. And we like the
- 16:29Speaker 3: same things. We have the same interests. We bond over
- 16:32Speaker 3: a lot of the same things. So, yeah, I feel like.
- 16:35Speaker 2: You are a much more mature person of your age
- 16:38Speaker 2: than I know, than I've ever met.
- 16:41Speaker 1: And I feel like I'm a young soul. I meet
- 16:44Speaker 1: you halfway.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Yeah, we definitely meet halfway.
- 16:47Speaker 1: As someone who has a history of dating younger guys,
- 16:50Speaker 1: I could recognize that Sophie was trying to say that
- 16:52Speaker 1: thing that we all say where you're like, oh, no,
- 16:55Speaker 1: this person I'm dating is very mature for their age.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Their old soul. Yeah, whether it's true or not. And
- 17:00Speaker 1: I think it's what you tell yourself until you break
- 17:02Speaker 1: up with them and then you tell everyone, oh, they
- 17:04Speaker 1: were so immature. Yeah, she was really trying to get
- 17:07Speaker 1: that message across. She said that Maddie was mature beyond
- 17:10Speaker 1: her years and she had her life together. She owns
- 17:13Speaker 1: her own home, her own car. and has her finances
- 17:16Speaker 1: well in order. Again, it almost felt like she was
- 17:18Speaker 1: talking about her own child. Like, they take the bin
- 17:22Speaker 1: out at night time. They... They mow the lawn, they
- 17:24Speaker 1: walk the dog, like that sort of vibe. Well, the
- 17:27Speaker 1: commentary around finances is interesting because I think Sophie is
- 17:31Speaker 1: trying to extinguish any negative commentary that might come up
- 17:34Speaker 1: about Maddie trying to be a gold digger. Yeah, I
- 17:37Speaker 1: think so too. The only time that Sophie admitted to
- 17:39Speaker 1: noticing the age gap is when they're having a sing-along
- 17:42Speaker 1: in the car together and Maddie doesn't know some of
- 17:44Speaker 1: the songs. Yeah, that really makes you feel old. We
- 17:47Speaker 1: have a couple of friends who are, I don't know,
- 17:49Speaker 1: six or seven years younger than us and they didn't
- 17:51Speaker 1: know who Hanson was and I was like, Now, throughout
- 17:55Speaker 1: this Q & A, as we touched on, Sophie threw
- 17:58Speaker 1: a lot of shade at her ex-fiance, Maddie Garrick. And
- 18:00Speaker 1: I hope that this segment doesn't get too confusing because
- 18:04Speaker 1: Sophie's ex does have, of course, the same name as
- 18:06Speaker 1: her new girlfriend. And then the ex before was also
- 18:09Speaker 1: an AFLW player. So there's a lot of crossover with
- 18:11Speaker 1: these partners. We say it all the time, but she's
- 18:13Speaker 1: obviously got a type. Yeah, definitely. Definitely. Now, Sophie dramatically
- 18:17Speaker 1: called off her engagement to Maddie Garrick in 2022. Oh,
- 18:21Speaker 1: was it 2022? And that was shortly after flying to
- 18:24Speaker 1: Italy where Maddie was playing basketball. And at the time,
- 18:27Speaker 1: Sophie made it very clear that she had been cheated on. Allegedly. Allegedly. Now,
- 18:32Speaker 1: the first potshot that was hurled was Sophie admitting that
- 18:34Speaker 1: she's the one who holds a lot of insecurities about
- 18:37Speaker 1: the age gap in her relationship with Maddie Press Packers.
- 18:40Speaker 1: And that is due to the way she was treated
- 18:42Speaker 1: by Maddie Garrick. Here's what she said.
- 18:45Speaker 2: On that, I will say I'm the one with the
- 18:47Speaker 2: insecurities about the age gap.
- 18:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:50Speaker 3: I feel like... I don't know. What to say?
- 18:54Speaker 1: No, I just.
- 18:55Speaker 3: You know my insecurities. I don't see the difference between
- 18:59Speaker 3: the age, but I see Soph's insecurities and, yeah, I
- 19:02Speaker 3: always just say that you've got nothing to worry about. Yeah,
- 19:04Speaker 3: we're definitely.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Heard that before.
- 19:06Speaker 3: We're aligned as people and that's all that matters. We
- 19:09Speaker 3: bond over good things and, yeah, we've got our life
- 19:12Speaker 3: set out together, so.
- 19:14Speaker 1: That's good. We've got big plans, baby. I wonder how
- 19:17Speaker 1: Maddie Press Packers felt about these comments being thrown in
- 19:20Speaker 1: when this is a Q & A where we're supposed
- 19:22Speaker 1: to be getting to know her because it kind of
- 19:24Speaker 1: makes Sophie sound like she's hung up on Maddie Garrick
- 19:26Speaker 1: and is still very hurt by her actions. Yeah. And
- 19:29Speaker 1: when someone talks badly about their ex, it's usually a
- 19:32Speaker 1: bit of a red flag because you're like, oh, if
- 19:34Speaker 1: we were to break up, is this how you're going
- 19:35Speaker 1: to talk about me?
- 19:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Now, Sophie also went on further to say that her
- 19:39Speaker 1: kids have been hurt in the past by her exes.
- 19:42Speaker 1: and she didn't enter into a relationship with Maddie 2.0
- 19:46Speaker 1: until her son Bobby gave her permission. She also said
- 19:50Speaker 1: that she's finally found someone that gets along with her family.
- 19:53Speaker 1: I'm not sure if she meant her immediate family as
- 19:56Speaker 1: in Jared and the kids or if she meant her
- 19:58Speaker 1: extended family because it's very clear that Maddie Press Packers
- 20:02Speaker 1: has made a huge effort with Sophie's kids. She sounds
- 20:05Speaker 1: like she genuinely loves them and has a really great
- 20:07Speaker 1: bond with them, which is very sweet. Oh, it's lovely
- 20:10Speaker 1: to see and it seems very genuine. In terms of
- 20:13Speaker 1: Sophie's extended family, there have been a lot of question
- 20:15Speaker 1: marks about how her relationship is with them, particularly her
- 20:19Speaker 1: sister who she was on Survivor with. There's been rumours
- 20:22Speaker 1: that there's a feud between them. I wonder if that
- 20:25Speaker 1: had anything to do with Maddie Garrick. It did seem
- 20:27Speaker 1: like there was a bit of a tension with one
- 20:29Speaker 1: family member that they were referring to in this Q & A.
- 20:32Speaker 1: This Q & A also revealed that Sophie and Maddie
- 20:35Speaker 1: Press Packers first hooked up just three weeks after she
- 20:38Speaker 1: called off her engagement to Maddie Garrick. So the couple
- 20:42Speaker 1: first met in 2022 at Electric Nightclub on Chapel Street
- 20:46Speaker 1: at 3am and by 3.30am they were sharing their first kiss.
- 20:50Speaker 2: I'll throw it back to 2022. I had returned from
- 20:53Speaker 2: an unfortunate overseas trip. Um, and I, it was like
- 21:00Speaker 2: three weeks later, I think me and Caitlin shout out
- 21:03Speaker 2: to Caitlin. We had this most random spontaneous day where
- 21:07Speaker 2: we like just went for lunch during the day. And
- 21:09Speaker 2: then somehow we were at a nightclub at three o'clock
- 21:11Speaker 2: in the morning and saw this little smile looking back
- 21:15Speaker 2: at me at the bar. And within five minutes I said,
- 21:18Speaker 2: I'm going to kiss you. And I did. So, uh,
- 21:23Speaker 2: I made the first move many moons ago. I kissed
- 21:27Speaker 2: you the second time up.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Oh, right. Who made the first move?
- 21:31Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, the first move.
- 21:33Speaker 1: That really made it sound like a rebound, but they
- 21:35Speaker 1: didn't actually start up a relationship for quite some time
- 21:38Speaker 1: following the kiss. They were friends for about a year
- 21:40Speaker 1: before anything happened. Sophie also dated Sophie van der Heuvel
- 21:44Speaker 1: in between. See, well, it's with the names. Like, just
- 21:46Speaker 1: don't date anyone with your name or the name of
- 21:48Speaker 1: your ex. Now, further shade was thrown at Maddie Garrick
- 21:51Speaker 1: when Sophie answered if she'd found the one. Here's what
- 21:55Speaker 1: she said.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Is she the one?
- 21:57Speaker 1: You both truly look happy.
- 21:59Speaker 3: You know what?
- 21:59Speaker 2: I fucking hope so because I'm a little bit sick
- 22:04Speaker 2: and tired of this.
- 22:04Speaker 3: I think so, everyone. I think she's the one. No, no,
- 22:09Speaker 3: I know she's the one. I think we've definitely found
- 22:11Speaker 3: our person in each other.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Everyone screen record that, please. Thanks. No cheetah, cheetah, pumpkin
- 22:19Speaker 2: eater here. No cheetah, cheetah.
- 22:20Speaker 1: No, you're not. God, that is so awkward. I actually
- 22:23Speaker 1: really feel for Maddie Press Packers because you get a
- 22:26Speaker 1: sense to what it must be like behind the scenes
- 22:28Speaker 1: between them, that she must always be having to reassure
- 22:32Speaker 1: Sophie that she's not doing anything wrong or she's not
- 22:35Speaker 1: acting like her ex. I think she must be working
- 22:36Speaker 1: in overtime to prove that she's nothing like Maddie Garrick.
- 22:39Speaker 1: And the thing is, you would have to be very
- 22:42Speaker 1: trusting if your girlfriend played AFLW because they're often on
- 22:46Speaker 1: the road, traveling, they're surrounded by women their own age
- 22:49Speaker 1: who have the same interests as them. And maybe that's
- 22:51Speaker 1: where some of Sophie's insecurities are coming in, particularly if
- 22:56Speaker 1: she was cheated on when Maddie was away on a
- 22:59Speaker 1: basketball trip. Yeah. Well, Maddie Presspacker, she plays for Essendon,
- 23:02Speaker 1: doesn't she? And Sophie Vanderhoeven also played for Essendon. So
- 23:05Speaker 1: when your exes are teammates. It's very awkward. Questions then
- 23:09Speaker 1: turned to Sophie's pregnancy and whether the couple were having
- 23:12Speaker 1: this baby together or if Maddie was part of the
- 23:14Speaker 1: decision-making process. And Maddie was quite honest and said that
- 23:18Speaker 1: because they started out their relationship as just friends, She
- 23:21Speaker 1: always knew that Sophie planned to have another baby. And
- 23:25Speaker 1: she said that when she finally fell in love with Sophie,
- 23:27Speaker 1: Sophie really tried to push her away because the baby
- 23:30Speaker 1: was her number one priority, understandably. But Maddie said it
- 23:33Speaker 1: didn't affect things on her end and that because she
- 23:36Speaker 1: loves Sophie's kids, Bobby and Floss, she knows that she's
- 23:38Speaker 1: going to love this third baby just as much. It
- 23:40Speaker 1: seemed like a very mature perspective. It is mature and
- 23:43Speaker 1: I'm not trying to take away at all from what
- 23:46Speaker 1: she's saying. But a newborn is very different to a 6-
- 23:50Speaker 1: and 10-year-old or however old her kids are. And I
- 23:53Speaker 1: think with Maddie only being 24, she might be going
- 23:56Speaker 1: into this a little bit blind. I think Sophie could
- 23:58Speaker 1: read the naivety in her tone and she could probably
- 24:01Speaker 1: see what people were thinking. So she kept saying, how
- 24:04Speaker 1: do you actually feel about the newborn stage though, Maddie?
- 24:06Speaker 1: Maddie said this. And what about the newborn stage, sweetheart?
- 24:10Speaker 2: Well, I suppose you just don't know what to expect, so.
- 24:14Speaker 1: No, she's going to be great.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Starting from the start. Learn how to change a nappy.
- 24:18Speaker 2: That's why she doesn't live here. So she can go
- 24:21Speaker 2: home whenever she wants.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Oh, I've got to go home and clean up.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 24:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:29Speaker 1: That's another interesting element because Maddie and Sophie don't currently
- 24:33Speaker 1: live together and they're not planning on moving in together
- 24:35Speaker 1: when this baby is born. I think that's a very
- 24:38Speaker 1: clever idea because this is such a fresh relationship. And
- 24:41Speaker 1: it's a lot to expect of a new partner, especially
- 24:44Speaker 1: someone who's so young if this wasn't their decision. I
- 24:47Speaker 1: think that's going to cause a lot of arguments though
- 24:49Speaker 1: because even though they're saying that they're not bringing up
- 24:52Speaker 1: this baby together, you'd be pretty resentful if you haven't
- 24:56Speaker 1: slept at all and you're dealing with a crying baby
- 24:59Speaker 1: and then your partner's like, all right, well, I'm just
- 25:01Speaker 1: going to pop home and get a good night's sleep.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Like I can see that this is going to be
- 25:07Speaker 1: quite difficult for them to navigate. But then again, it
- 25:09Speaker 1: will be important for Maddie to get a good night's
- 25:12Speaker 1: sleep if she's an athlete and she needs to be
- 25:14Speaker 1: in tip-top shape for her game. Again, you can see
- 25:18Speaker 1: how this works on paper but not in the real world. Yeah,
- 25:20Speaker 1: but the AFLW season will probably be over by the
- 25:23Speaker 1: time this baby's due.
- 25:24Speaker 3: True. True.
- 25:25Speaker 1: What is also interesting is they're planning on taking a
- 25:28Speaker 1: family vacation to London when the baby is born, which
- 25:31Speaker 1: surprised me. What is people travelling with a newborn? I mean,
- 25:34Speaker 1: I know everyone's experiences are different, but my son was
- 25:38Speaker 1: a very good sleeper. I've been very lucky with the
- 25:40Speaker 1: way he slept and has been going. But I still
- 25:44Speaker 1: couldn't think of anything worse than taking him on a
- 25:45Speaker 1: long-haul flight. Yeah, well, let's listen to what Sophie and
- 25:48Speaker 1: Maddie said about this trip.
- 25:50Speaker 3: Just having fun.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Just having fun with us and.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Two kids and a newborn.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Yeah. She doesn't know what she's in for, guys. She
- 25:58Speaker 1: has no idea.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Yeah. I don't know if I'm more scared for the
- 26:02Speaker 3: plane ride or.
- 26:04Speaker 2: I am.
- 26:05Speaker 1: But no, looking forward to it. I'll be very interested
- 26:08Speaker 1: to follow on and see how this goes. Hopefully it
- 26:11Speaker 1: runs a bit smoother than we think it's going to run.
- 26:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Well, there was a question asking whether Maddie will be
- 26:16Speaker 1: called mum as well. And Sophie confirmed that Maddie will
- 26:19Speaker 1: just be called Mads by the baby. She did joke
- 26:22Speaker 1: that she'd be called Papa. instead of mum. You can
- 26:26Speaker 1: see that Sophie is very keen to settle down. And
- 26:29Speaker 1: there was a question that she shared that said, I
- 26:30Speaker 1: cannot wait for Maddie to propose. Here's what Maddie's reaction was. Oh,
- 26:37Speaker 1: one day. What are you laughing at?
- 26:39Speaker 4: One day.
- 26:40Speaker 3: Any ring suggestions? No, can't wait either.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Oh, not yet. Not yet. Sophie Keisha is really opening
- 26:52Speaker 1: herself up to commentary, isn't she? And the thing that
- 26:55Speaker 1: just came across in this whole Q & A was
- 26:58Speaker 1: just how young Maddie is. Can't fault the girl. Sounds
- 27:03Speaker 1: like an absolute sweetheart, but maybe a bit naive. Now, Sophie,
- 27:06Speaker 1: who is only a couple of weeks from giving birth,
- 27:09Speaker 1: has opened up more about the relaunch of her young
- 27:12Speaker 1: mummy blog. So she did reveal in a stellar interview
- 27:15Speaker 1: that she was getting back onto it. This is a
- 27:17Speaker 1: decade later, which makes me feel really old because when
- 27:20Speaker 1: I was working at the Thunderbirds, the netball team, I
- 27:23Speaker 1: remember that we reached out to her and gave her
- 27:25Speaker 1: free tickets to come along to a game because she
- 27:27Speaker 1: loves netball. She was obviously living in South Australia at
- 27:29Speaker 1: the time too. So a lot's changed for her. When
- 27:32Speaker 1: she said it was launching again, I didn't think that
- 27:34Speaker 1: it would launch in a blog format because who reads
- 27:37Speaker 1: blogs now? This is going to be featured on her
- 27:40Speaker 1: Keisha Pajama website. So that's where you can find the blog.
- 27:44Speaker 1: But I originally thought because she launched a new YouTube
- 27:47Speaker 1: channel when she announced her pregnancy, that the young mummy
- 27:50Speaker 1: might take the new format of daily vlogs. Well, not
- 27:53Speaker 1: daily vlogs, weekly vlogs. Yeah, or TikTok vlogging. I'm surprised
- 27:57Speaker 1: that a media company like Mamma Mia hasn't picked it
- 28:00Speaker 1: up as a regular feature on their website. Maybe Sophie
- 28:02Speaker 1: thinks financially she's better off putting it on her own
- 28:05Speaker 1: website where she can get advertisers and get traction on
- 28:08Speaker 1: there and then also in turn get people to buy
- 28:10Speaker 1: her pajamas. See, I reckon she'd be better off actually
- 28:13Speaker 1: repackaging it as a podcast. I would definitely be keen
- 28:16Speaker 1: to listen to it. I think that she's going to
- 28:17Speaker 1: be pretty open and honest on there and it will
- 28:20Speaker 1: be Interesting for her to compare things now to how
- 28:24Speaker 1: they were a decade ago. She already said that there's
- 28:26Speaker 1: so many new apps and products on the market. And
- 28:29Speaker 1: she did joke that she should call it the middle-aged mummy,
- 28:32Speaker 1: which isn't true. She's only 34. Hey, hey, hey, we're
- 28:35Speaker 1: actually a year or two older than her. So none
- 28:37Speaker 1: of that. Maybe it could be called the geriatric mum
- 28:41Speaker 1: because aren't you a geriatric mum after 35? That's even
- 28:42Speaker 1: more offensive. I have not had anyone refer to me
- 28:45Speaker 1: medically as a geriatric mom. Yeah, I think they've got
- 28:48Speaker 1: rid of that term. Yeah, I wasn't referred to that.
- 28:50Speaker 1: But I was 34. No, I was 35 when I
- 28:53Speaker 1: gave birth. Yeah, I was waiting for it. But I
- 28:55Speaker 1: think that now a lot of women are having children
- 28:57Speaker 1: later that they're like, this doesn't really seem to apply. Well,
- 28:59Speaker 1: with pregnancy rage being a real thing, I don't think
- 29:01Speaker 1: anyone would have the balls to call a pregnant woman geriatric.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Let's get into our Friday debrief. And for the OG
- 29:09Speaker 1: listeners who can actually tell our voices apart, you will
- 29:12Speaker 1: have noticed that Amy's has dropped out. She had to
- 29:15Speaker 1: head off to a meeting, if you can read that code,
- 29:17Speaker 1: read between the lines. So I'm going to jump in
- 29:20Speaker 1: with a high of the week for me. So it
- 29:22Speaker 1: was my second wedding anniversary on Tuesday. Which is wild.
- 29:27Speaker 1: How was that two years ago? It actually freaks me out.
- 29:30Speaker 1: I can't believe it. It was such a good day.
- 29:32Speaker 1: And I'm at a point where I'm like, oh, I
- 29:34Speaker 1: feel like I really want to watch the video back
- 29:36Speaker 1: in full because the year after you kind of get
- 29:40Speaker 1: it six months after the wedding anyway. And you're like, oh,
- 29:42Speaker 1: I feel like I've already seen this, but it's sort
- 29:43Speaker 1: of like fresh again. So. We were going to watch
- 29:46Speaker 1: it on our wedding anniversary, but Rhys fell asleep watching Suits.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Very romantic evening. But it was a lovely day. I mean,
- 29:52Speaker 1: now that we have Jack, we actually didn't think ahead
- 29:54Speaker 1: of time to book in a babysitter. So we just
- 29:56Speaker 1: had takeaway on the couch watching Suits, but it was
- 29:58Speaker 1: absolutely perfect. See, I got a lot of flack for
- 30:01Speaker 1: celebrating the anniversary of my first date with my husband,
- 30:04Speaker 1: which was eight years since our first date. You pay
- 30:07Speaker 1: the shit out of me on the podcast for it.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Our night didn't end romantically at all because We went
- 30:12Speaker 1: to a little Thai place around the corner from us.
- 30:14Speaker 1: It's a nice place. We go there all the time. Sorry,
- 30:17Speaker 1: I shouldn't laugh, but poor Brandon ended up getting severe
- 30:20Speaker 1: food poisoning. So he woke up at like five o'clock
- 30:23Speaker 1: in the morning and he's like, I think I'm going
- 30:25Speaker 1: to be sick. And I said, I was like in
- 30:27Speaker 1: my pregnancy rage. Oh, shut up. You don't really mean it. Anyway,
- 30:31Speaker 1: fucking five seconds later. Anyway, back to my anniversary. As
- 30:35Speaker 1: I said, it was pretty low key, but I had
- 30:37Speaker 1: a really nice day because Rhys managed to surprise me twice.
- 30:40Speaker 1: So The night before, he came home from work with
- 30:44Speaker 1: this big, beautiful bunch of flowers. And he said, I'm
- 30:46Speaker 1: so sorry, your present hasn't arrived in time. And for
- 30:49Speaker 1: the second wedding anniversary, the theme is cotton. So I
- 30:52Speaker 1: was really racking my brains. Like, I don't know what
- 30:53Speaker 1: to get because there's some stuff on Etsy. Yeah, but
- 30:56Speaker 1: you kind of want to get something personalized. A lot
- 30:58Speaker 1: of the personalized stuff was a bit naff.
- 31:00Speaker 4: Anyway.
- 31:00Speaker 1: So I was like, oh gosh, this is, you know,
- 31:02Speaker 1: you could have just got me flowers. They're beautiful. The
- 31:04Speaker 1: next day at around 12 o'clock, I hear this knock
- 31:07Speaker 1: on the door and I was like, oh my God.
- 31:09Speaker 1: So I've got the two dogs at the door. I've
- 31:10Speaker 1: got Jack and I opened the door and there's this
- 31:12Speaker 1: man standing there. It almost looked like that show First
- 31:14Speaker 1: Date with a big bunch of 12 red roses and
- 31:17Speaker 1: a little bag. And inside the bag was a teddy bear.
- 31:20Speaker 1: And it said Kate Torbert. And I'm like, what? Because
- 31:23Speaker 1: normally Reese would say Kate Turner. And I was like,
- 31:25Speaker 1: who is this from? I was like, am I being trolled?
- 31:28Speaker 1: And then I was like- Well, it looked like a
- 31:28Speaker 1: Valentine's Day present. And didn't you think, oh, this is
- 31:31Speaker 1: a bit early? Well, I noticed it was from the
- 31:33Speaker 1: same florist that Reese had got the other flowers from.
- 31:35Speaker 1: And I was like, oh my God, he must've put
- 31:37Speaker 1: in an order for Valentine's day. And it's arrived like today.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Like there must've been some miscommunication. I was like, well,
- 31:43Speaker 1: this is so embarrassing. It's a good way to get
- 31:44Speaker 1: them cheaper. Don't send them on Valentine's day. Yeah. So
- 31:46Speaker 1: I rang him and I'm like, what's going on? He's like, no, no,
- 31:49Speaker 1: they are, they are for me. I just wanted to
- 31:50Speaker 1: send you a second bunch to surprise you. And I
- 31:52Speaker 1: was like, why the different name? I think he just
- 31:55Speaker 1: forgot to put Turner. And then a couple of hours later,
- 31:58Speaker 1: there was another knock on the door. And I opened
- 32:01Speaker 1: the door and there was a third bunch of flowers
- 32:03Speaker 1: from him. And I'm like, what is going on? This
- 32:05Speaker 1: is not clever because you're having to pay for two
- 32:07Speaker 1: lots of delivery. And they were from a different company. Anyway.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Why did he send three bunch of flowers? I'm still confused.
- 32:12Speaker 1: So he said the first was to celebrate our first
- 32:14Speaker 1: year of marriage. The second was to celebrate the second year.
- 32:17Speaker 1: And the third was for the year ahead. What? Yeah,
- 32:20Speaker 1: and he also– Two made more sense to me for
- 32:22Speaker 1: two years of marriage. Well, I'm not complaining. Did he
- 32:24Speaker 1: fuck up? Like, was this a mistake? No, it wasn't.
- 32:27Speaker 1: You can ask him tonight. All right, I will. I
- 32:29Speaker 1: loved it, though. I love getting flowers. What have you
- 32:31Speaker 1: got for us, Soph? I really feel like the karma
- 32:34Speaker 1: gods are on to me because we did a segment
- 32:37Speaker 1: last year about M. Davies trying to sell a white
- 32:41Speaker 1: couch that had stains all over it. It's funny you
- 32:43Speaker 1: say that because when I was doing some research into M. Davies'
- 32:46Speaker 1: hen's party for this episode today, I came across an
- 32:49Speaker 1: article Perth Now wrote about our coverage of said couch. Yeah,
- 32:53Speaker 1: and we were having a bit of a laugh because
- 32:54Speaker 1: this couch was beyond filthy. It looked absolutely terrible. I mean,
- 32:58Speaker 1: at least she was honest in the Facebook advert about it. Anyway,
- 33:03Speaker 1: Brandon and I, we want to get a bigger couch.
- 33:06Speaker 1: Now that we're having a family, we need a corner couch.
- 33:09Speaker 1: We currently have a three-seater couch and we are absolutely
- 33:11Speaker 1: squished on it. As the subs would know, you are
- 33:14Speaker 1: trying to make your house into a hotel. Not really.
- 33:18Speaker 1: I just want to make it a nice place to be.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Maybe the use of the word hotel was wrong. But anyway,
- 33:23Speaker 1: we have changed the configuration of our room. We ended
- 33:27Speaker 1: up blocking off a wall, like putting gyprock up. We
- 33:29Speaker 1: had these two ugly arches. So we now have our
- 33:33Speaker 1: TV where the arches used to be and the room
- 33:35Speaker 1: feels a lot bigger. So we needed a bigger couch.
- 33:38Speaker 1: And basically, and every time I tried to take a
- 33:41Speaker 1: picture of this old couch, it looked absolutely filthy. I
- 33:44Speaker 1: don't know if it's because we moved where it was
- 33:46Speaker 1: sitting and there was different light on it. Or it
- 33:49Speaker 1: just looked filthy the more we looked at it. But
- 33:52Speaker 1: I couldn't take a new photo of it. So I
- 33:54Speaker 1: found a photo that I took of when we bought it. Oh,
- 33:57Speaker 1: that's a little bit detective. And I also found photos
- 34:01Speaker 1: of what it looked like from where we bought it.
- 34:03Speaker 1: So we got it from James Lane. Anyway, we had
- 34:06Speaker 1: quite a few people inquire about it and someone wanted
- 34:09Speaker 1: to come and look at it and we thought, fuck,
- 34:11Speaker 1: like we can't leave it how it is. So we
- 34:13Speaker 1: have spent hours and hours and hours cleaning this couch.
- 34:18Speaker 1: We had one of those portable upholstery cleaners. I've got
- 34:21Speaker 1: one of those. It took so long and because I
- 34:24Speaker 1: was so nervous because I didn't want to take the
- 34:25Speaker 1: covers off and wash them because I'd read so many
- 34:28Speaker 1: website saying that it shrinks them. Or it could ball
- 34:32Speaker 1: up like Molly Mae's blazers. But anyway, we decided that
- 34:34Speaker 1: this upholstery cleaner was doing nothing. It looked so streaky
- 34:37Speaker 1: and dirty. So at 12 o'clock the other night, we
- 34:40Speaker 1: were laughing so much. We're like, fuck, we've got to
- 34:43Speaker 1: do something. It's going to dry overnight. So we grabbed
- 34:45Speaker 1: all of the pillowcases off. We filled up the bath
- 34:48Speaker 1: with water. We chucked in laundry detergent and we were
- 34:53Speaker 1: literally scrubbing them. We said our next door neighbor probably
- 34:55Speaker 1: thinks we're a murderer cleaning this couch off And you
- 34:59Speaker 1: said that I was like texting you and you suddenly
- 35:01Speaker 1: went MIA and I'm like, where are you? Why are
- 35:03Speaker 1: you ignoring me? And you're like, we're cleaning the couch.
- 35:04Speaker 1: And I was like, how long does it take? Well,
- 35:06Speaker 1: the next day, Brandon still was not happy with some
- 35:09Speaker 1: of these cushions that an hour and a half before
- 35:11Speaker 1: the people were set to come and look at it.
- 35:13Speaker 1: He's like, let's put these two back in the bath.
- 35:15Speaker 1: So we put him in the bath again. So Brandon
- 35:17Speaker 1: was suggesting getting a leaf blower out to try and
- 35:20Speaker 1: dry these cushions. You know, we have a dryer at
- 35:23Speaker 1: our house. We have a dryer at ours, but I
- 35:25Speaker 1: was worried it was going to shrink the cushions. Anyway,
- 35:27Speaker 1: we had to put it in the dryer. We pulled
- 35:29Speaker 1: it all together. It looks fucking brand new. I hope
- 35:33Speaker 1: the people that bought it aren't listening to this. The
- 35:35Speaker 1: girl rocked up and she was like, oh my God,
- 35:37Speaker 1: I love it. And we were like, Perfect. So she's
- 35:39Speaker 1: coming on Friday to come and get this. This goes
- 35:41Speaker 1: out Friday. Hopefully the exchange will have taken place by then. Well,
- 35:44Speaker 1: you know, you have a lot of people listening that
- 35:46Speaker 1: might want the couch. It's been professionally cleaned. It has been. Well,
- 35:48Speaker 1: that's what I thought. I'd probably be more happy to
- 35:51Speaker 1: buy a secondhand couch if I knew that it had
- 35:53Speaker 1: been cleaned. Yeah, it's been bleached into an inch of
- 35:55Speaker 1: its life. Anyway, moral of the story is, Be very
- 35:58Speaker 1: careful with your couch. Maybe don't let your dog on it.
- 36:00Speaker 1: I thought you were going to say with your marketplace purchases.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Be wary. Well, we're going to leave things there. Thank
- 36:07Speaker 1: you for listening to another episode. If you do enjoy
- 36:09Speaker 1: the show, we would love it if you could leave
- 36:11Speaker 1: a review. And don't forget that if you want to
