But first of all, tell us about frontline harvest.

How did it start and why the name Sarah?

Yeah, so we picked the name frontline harvest ministry.

One was because we know we're fighting a battle, Ephesians 6.

And we are fighting against strongholds and the enemy and all that he's tried to stolen.

But our goal is to proclaim the gospel.

And we know that's the greatest victory is restoring people to hope to Christ

and allowing them to be reconciled to Jesus.

And with that comes a lot of battle.

So for years, it was just frontline and we had so many attacks that we were like,

we need to have some kind of a, you know, reaping here of harvest.

So we thought, well, frontline harvest, so that makes all the battles worth it.

You know, rewarding when we see the harvest of souls coming in.

So frontline harvest ministry, whether it's the battle of mental health, depression,

addiction, whatever it might be.

And we know that we go to battle and prayer.

So we are prayer warriors and we believe in fighting against evil.

Now you teach a women's Bible study as well.

You do disciples, you put a focus on discipleship, which is so needed in today's church.

And I want to go over to Shantay and ask, and then we'll get to your testimonies there.

They both have amazing testimonies.

Shantay, how did you get involved with this troublemaker for the Kingdom of God, Sarah?

And you know, tell us about your story, how you came to the Lord.

Well, the say I was already searching for the truth and a lot of wrong ways.

You know, I was just like basically living for myself, you know,
3:23
and I was into drinking and partying and I was just lost really.
3:28
And just like seeking for like, what is my purpose?
3:31
And you know, what is my life about?
3:34
You know, and I just felt like I came to another role kind of thing.

And it's just like, you know, what am I doing with my life?
3:40
And I felt empty and just like I was looking for answers, looking for hope and, you know,
3:45
and books and self-help books and magic, the dark magic, you know, art and stuff.

And just, you know, it went really, really extreme to the point of like seeking out evil spirits

for answers and psyched some unions and all that.

And so I know that was not the way, but the same time it was like, I want to answer.

You didn't know what the answer was?

You know, it was, I'm like, there's got to be some, some, some got out of here, you know.

But I grew up in the streets of Chicago,

single parent home and my mother took off and she started new life and Wisconsin.

And you know, I was still there at the time and I came from abuse and violence and just a lot of,

a lot of struggle, hardship at a young age.

And so I witnessed and allowed that.

It kind of shaped my world view in the sense of like how life is and how people can be.

However, though, I would say I got a fresh start once I was reunite back with my mom.

And just like having that relationship, building that relationship again.

And well, long story short.

So after that happened, my mom being placed back together and having a new start.

And where was this?

The streets.

So from Chicago to Wisconsin.

Okay, you were in the Green Bay area?

And so that was, that was a beautiful thing at the time of my life because I was used to

wouldn't send like I said, abuse and violence and drinking and all that.

And so it was like a huge change and like, people will point my life,

you know, coming from other environment.

But then being Jesus was even the biggest people in my life because it was like,

everything that I was looking for, that I was searching for, I found it in him.

And that's how I met Sarah actually.

It was because I was on the streets one night and I'm running to her at a gas station

through a mutual friend that she knew that I knew.

Just a coincidence, right?

Ah, yeah, no, not at all.

I'm kidding.

It was late, you know.
5:44
And so anyways, she came up to me and she shared a gospel with me in a way that I never heard it

before and I seen the light just come from her and just as joy.

And I was just like, there's gotta be something that she has.

And I'm like, I wanted to know what it was.

And so long story short, we started meeting together and I was

hard at first because I was like, you know, you're not going to tell me that the way I'm living

is wrong, you know, because at the time, I was just like, you know, Jesus, you know,

all these things about like, oh, why this is a sin, why this is bad?

No one wants to be told.

You know, right.

And so being told that and being confronted with that was like,

it was just like a moment where I had to stop and actually reflect on like the questions
6:25
that she asked me, you know, about my, my sinful lifestyle.

And I was like, wow, you know, I never had that before.

And so yeah, that's when I first started to actually get to know who Jesus was.

And so how long have you been friends then?

Oh, seven years.

Seven years.

I remember you when you first, when I first met you,

oh my goodness, the work that God has done in Shantay.

I love people who see you at all, yes.

What's that?

Of all people you, you know, for sure.

Well, yeah, because I met you, you were a little unsure, maybe of your faith.

You knew you loved Jesus, but you're still learning the Bible.

You were still being discipled and you were quiet and shy.

You get her out there talking to people, man.

She is no longer the shy quiet one.

And you are bold.

You are loving and respectful.

But you will definitely address those conversations and confront one necessary.

So Sarah, back to you now, your story, how you came to the Lord,

because this goes back now before front line harvest ministries.

You were involved with dance and I think you were involved with witchcraft as well,

which I think we're going to come back after the break and talk a little bit about a Christian

response to Halloween.

But tell us a little bit about how your story came to be and how you came to the Lord.

Yeah, so my mom is always somebody at point two because she was like my training ground.

The fact that she was in child pornography and she was molested
7:47
and she was raped multiple times and she was on drugs and on the streets of Phoenix,

Arizona, never supposed to have a baby.
7:56
And well, at a strip club, she met my dad and was not supposed to have a baby.

Like I said, and that's how I came about a miracle.

She didn't know that she was pregnant.

The doctors told her she wasn't.
8:11
So she continued with drugs and then realized that she was pregnant.

And in fact, so then when I was born, I actually died and my heart stopped.

So growing up, not only was I exposed to a crazy, dangerous lifestyle with most of my mom's

boyfriend's going to prison for what they did to us and I was shot at and things like that.

But I also was struggling with a lot of mental problems, cognitive issues that I would never

be able to go to college.

I would never be able to do things and I couldn't be independent like I wanted to be.

I was always supervised in jobs and tests and things like that.

And I was also raised with Native American belief system.

And then I ventured out into witchcraft at 10 years old.

That was already very, like you could say, I was an expert at palm reading when I was in my teenage

year as I had people come into me all the time that the things I would say would come true.

I could meet you and tell you your birthday.

So there were definitely real powers that people don't want to play with.

Yeah, how did you know these things that I'm getting to the demonic experience, right?

Yeah.

How many can just make this stuff up if you actually new things?

Right. So so basically when I realized that these were real powers,

that's what led me into searching out how I could control it.

That's what I liked about it was that I could make things happen.

And not only that, but it helped me connect with people.

I always wanted to be able to connect with people in their soul.

And this was the way I could do that.

Like I could connect with people in their soul this way.

And I thought I was helping people.

But the whole time I was actually just engaging with demons,

never knowing that.

Amazing. So you were also a dancer, right?

Yeah.

And so how does that work into your story?

So I was always in dance.

Since I was little I had a passion for it.

I was in gymnastics and then by the time I was 18,

I was performing and competing salsa, Latin dance.

And I knew a lot of different dances.

And then I got into exotic dancing for money and things like that.

But I had to give that all up after I gave my life to Jesus.

And it wasn't until 2016 when I was called to go to India

that I was dancing in orphanages.

And I just asked the Lord one day in the hotel by myself.

I said, Lord, why do you really have me here?

I know I'm supposed to be serving you in these children

are beautiful and amazing and impacting my life.

And they opened the Bible up to Isaiah 26, 3.

He who keeps his mind state upon me,

I will keep in perfect peace.

And I'm like, Lord, I know that.

But then he made me realize something

that the word mind meant creative ability.

And therefore I recognize what he was saying to me.

It was a revelation of him calling me to come back to the states here

and do this with the kids and all the skills that I've had

to use it for his glory.

That's a cool part of the story.

So tell us before we got on the program here today,

you were talking about some of the purposes you have

when it comes to ministering to women.

And some of these women, they come out of prison

and Sarah and Shante work with them when they are a little

a little rougher on the edges.

But tell us the three things I think you mentioned

that you guys do.

Yeah, evangelize, equip, disable, serve.

So we're always about the gospel, right?

I'm not ashamed of the gospel of Christ.

It is the power of God until salvation.

First for the Jew and then the Greeks.

So we are very passionate to bring the gospel.

That is the one true hope.

It is also to make disciples like Jesus call this to go out

and share the gospel to all nations.

But then also to equip them and to work with them

and walk with them and come alongside them

and help them find how they can heal in Christ

and how they can find freedom in Christ

and help build their faith so that they can finally reclaim

their identity and their dreams and their calling

and then go out and serve God with their purpose.

How does that work?

And then you put them up in the harvest home,

condense that for us, tell us about it.

So basically, we are able to reach out to girls

and minister to girls and jails and prisons

and oftentimes they're applying to come to harvest home.

So I go in and I get to interview them,

but in that interview, we get to present the gospel.

We also go to jails and do presentations and things like that.

So most of the times they're very interested

to come to harvest home and in harvest home

is about six months to one year program.

And we don't just address one thing.

We address three things, which is girls

for aftercare of incarceration, human trafficking,

and addiction.

And so they come and our program,

I don't really like to deal with programs and stuff,

but it's basically intense discipleship.

Yeah, where they can get tools, equipping, mentoring,

biblical counseling classes, groups.

Discipline too, huh?

In discipline, structure, accountability,

structure, the usual.

Yeah, sure a little bit about what your role is,

what you've been a part of there.

Well, just like Sarah say, basically,

working on equipping them right upon their release

and getting there, making sure they get a careback,

making sure they're directed to their room.

And then after that, we do the intake process

where we sit down with them, and then we just

go over some questions with them,

and then making sure we do the house rules,

making sure that we have understanding of like,

hey, this is how it's going to be,

and providing that foundation and that structure that they need.

And then I come in that where I'm doing like a day-to-day task

with them, like, some phone calls for appointments,

probation meetings, and even with connect with their children,

and making sure they have that relationship,

employment, if they need to look for a job eventually,

setting them up for success, basically.

And a lot of times, it's just like, hey, I need to talk.

I'm struggling with this.

And I can be there for them, you know,

and just do life with them, basically, on a day-day.

and there's always some confusion,

and there's a debate, you know, with Christians.

How do we, we don't celebrate a demonic holiday?

But we do have responsibilities in how we respond to it,

because there's kids in our church, even.

They go to Halloween parties or whatever.

They might call them something else, right?

So let's call it a harvest party or a fall, fall, shenday.

So let's start with you, Sarah,

because you both have background in witchcraft.

You know the demonic realm, the spiritual dimension is very real.

This is not just the spiritual part of this.

It's not just some made up thing.

It's very real.

Yeah, well, even just facts.

Halloween is the number one day out of all the year

that high crime goes up the most.

Why is there, what do you think that is?

The spiritual realm, you know, it's a day that rebellion.

Yeah, and it's the day that people are honoring Satan.

And even the founder of the Satanist church

had said that he was happy that Christians

let their children honor the devil at least one day of the year.

But yet we don't see anybody from Satan's church

coming to our church one day of the year

for any of the things we celebrate.

So there's a big disloyalty to Christ

when we celebrate Halloween.

There's the only thing like people can bring up,

well, there's Christmas is pagan and this is pagan.

Those things can be redeemed

because we can turn it for Jesus.

It's just dark.

There's spider webs, goblins, witchcraft, zombies.

Demons, vampires, that's it.

And here it is, this is a perversion.

It's a counterfeit of the truth

because even this fascination with living forever

are coming back to life, vampires, zombies.

we go to heaven, we're going to live forever, right?

But they are almost mocking this with zombies.

And what could you tell other Christians

or how would you counsel them on this?

I would say, I mean, for the most part,

we already know that Halloween

is just straight up for the devil.

And honestly, whenever we do give our worship to that,

we'll participate and we'll be in participants of it.

And so like Sarah was saying,

it's disloyal to you to Christ as a believer.

But if you're not a believer, I will say,

you know, there's not the wrong with being informed.

You know, it's better to be informed

than misinformed or completely ignorant.

And so the fact that we have people

who's constantly blowing the horn

and saying, hey, be careful to it.

It's not celebrating partake in this evil day.

And we know that God made all the days,

but this is one particular day

that the devil has his agents out there.

And he's caused and havoc.

And he's doing all types of really, really evil things

on this day.

And a lot of people think it's innocent, but it's not.

And so I would say, be careful to just jump all in

without being informed about what this day is about.

We don't have time to go into all the history

of Halloween where it started and the occultism behind it.

But there is a verse that you guys made me think of.

And you see Ephesians 5-11, do not participate

in the unfruitful deeds or works of darkness,

but instead expose them.

So if any of you out there, and there are some

that are hearing you guys talking about,

you're being a little harsh.

It's just one day you're, it's very real.

And we're not to participate.

We are to expose the darkness,

shining the light of Christ.

And that's what you guys are talking about doing.

Sarah, how would you respond to a mom?

Well, meaning Christian mother at church that says,

well, it's just harmless.

I just want my kids to go out and get candy

with all their friends.

How would you respond?

I would ask them, you know, do you know what this is about?

Do you know why you're celebrating this

and the impact that it can have on your child?

Because if you love your child,

you're not going to set them up to believe lies

and to eventually be a lukewarm Christian

maybe even by your example.

And just thinking about like costumes and things like that,

you're encouraging that belief that their identity

has found in external things and all of these things

when we're trying to teach to you that identity,

especially in this age, is so important

that you can't just be anything you want.

You should be who you're called to be in Christ,

who you are in Christ, who he created you to be,

which is in his image and not the things people

are trying to make.

So I would warn that mother and let them know

that this day, if you partake in it,

you are literally opening up doors,

not only for yourself, but for your children,

to curses, to darkness, to demonic attack.

And you do open yourself up there.

There's that window there, that door, that portal

that does open when you're starting to dabble

on some of this.

And it's not like you're dabbling in witchcraft

or pulling up a Ouija board,

but you are conforming to the world's ways

and the Romans 12, too, says do not conform.

Meaning don't copy the world or follow their pattern.

Halloween is a celebration.

It's one of the biggest, I think it's second only

to Christmas as far as the money making.

It's not just about the candy.

It is the costumes.

In all forms, we're called to not have any relationship

And so with that being said, I will say,

you're still compromising as a believer

if you still hire a children or your child

to go to anything that has something to do

with Halloween or dress it up.

Yeah, so you can't have an alternative

is what I think we would all agree on.

They can all get together at someone's house.

You don't need the costumes.

And I would say you don't even need all the sweets.

So bring that down a bit.

So why not use it as a teaching tool?

Of what harvest really is through the Bible

and make it fun for the kids and expand their mind

on how they can celebrate and have fun

in a way that's different from the world

and set an example for their friends

and use it as evangelism.

Invite the other kids to come

and teach them the gospel through it

and the real harvest of souls and things like that.

The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.

but because there's the spiritual dimension

that's very real Satan is not a made up being,

And that's why the Bible talks a lot about spiritual warfare.

So it's something that you don't want to play with.

that treat it as nationally evangelism day.

Because it's one day of the year

where kids are going to come to your door.

but you can get him a gospel track

and say, here's some the truth about Jesus.

So it's an opportunity to share the gospel.

A lot of people say, I'm going to shut the,

and I used to do this.

I did this probably for like 15 years.

I want nothing to do with, don't come to my house.

But then I thought, OK, if I've got a stack of gospel tracks

My closing thoughts is that as a Christian,

we should want to be set apart and different.

And we should show the joy of the Lord in that

and not be ashamed of that.

from the last couple of years ago or recent years.

They go, what are you doing handing this out?

Well, there are most of the time opened, actually.

Hand them a paper about what Halloween is.

And by taking interest in how they feel about things,

they're willing to listen to us.

And then we share a little bit.

And a lot of times we get to pray with people

for God to reveal this to them.

And we get in their contacts so we can follow up

with them and things like that.

One year it was almost like a whole revival on one street.

Like all these kids were coming and listening

and people were praying with us all over

where we would turn.

And it was really amazing.

And sure we do get people to reject.

We do have people that persecute us.

And all of them will always be happy to show up at our church

and do all this because we're on their property.

But it comes with the territory.
