- 0:00Speaker 1: Why would a rubber make pie? Who cares if you
- 0:04Speaker 1: kill him? We'll be on TV.
- 0:05Speaker 2: You're right, boy, mom my aquarium. Hello, Homer, you're alive
- 0:16Speaker 2: and you've baked your pie.
- 0:18Speaker 1: O me, what's going on? I'm fighting a rubber. You
- 0:21Speaker 1: go get ice cream? Four finger discount, dude.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Welcome to four figure discat where. This week the podcast
- 0:42Speaker 3: is dedicated to the memory of Elsie Castelinetta and Dora
- 0:45Speaker 3: k Warren. How do you know who those two lovely
- 0:46Speaker 3: ladies are. I'm going to assume there's some mothers, the
- 0:49Speaker 3: mothers of Dan and Harry here.
- 0:51Speaker 1: There you go.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Yes, so obviously this is now. This was the first.
- 0:55Speaker 3: It's Mona Leaves and by the.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Way, yes, don't get ahead of yourself.
- 0:58Speaker 3: So this was the very first episode apparently to be
- 1:00Speaker 3: based around Mother's to be around Mother's Day in the
- 1:04Speaker 3: United States. I think the United States, in England, who
- 1:06Speaker 3: much the rest of the world maybe as celebrate Mother's
- 1:09Speaker 3: down in this particular day different to us, the one's mother.
- 1:11Speaker 3: So it's for Nikola here all of her friends back
- 1:14Speaker 3: in the uksa happy Mother's Then she's like, oh should
- 1:16Speaker 3: I because it's not Mother's Day here, it's always. It's
- 1:18Speaker 3: always like she celebrates it still the English way because
- 1:21Speaker 3: her mum's feeling like it's Mother's Day at that particular time.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I understand where Nichola was coming from. But you're in
- 1:26Speaker 1: Australia now, so you do it in Australia.
- 1:29Speaker 3: With the time.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Like you're not oz.
- 1:32Speaker 3: But Mona leaves us. This episode was about. This was
- 1:34Speaker 3: the finale, the sendoff for the end closest Mona, the
- 1:40Speaker 3: end of her arc, the end of the Mona arc.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Shall we say?
- 1:43Speaker 3: I don't know whether I was happy with her passing away.
- 1:45Speaker 3: I don't. I just feel like it's her story. Her
- 1:48Speaker 3: and Homer story is so tragic from beginning to end.
- 1:50Speaker 1: It really is. I must say. It makes me not
- 1:53Speaker 1: dislike the episodes, but it makes them hard to warm too.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, everyone, But.
- 1:58Speaker 3: It's funny because everyone always sees the or the end
- 2:00Speaker 3: of the first one as one of the most heartwarming
- 2:02Speaker 3: moments ever.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Well, it's become very mean the fact. I guess we're
- 2:05Speaker 1: talking about Homer sitting on the bonnot of his car,
- 2:09Speaker 1: all they.
- 2:10Speaker 3: That's the most mean shot. I think it's more than
- 2:13Speaker 3: Homer in the hedge. I think people every time a
- 2:15Speaker 3: celebrity dies, that's what you use.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I mean it strikes me as kind of
- 2:19Speaker 1: It's not as sad as say, the final moments of
- 2:22Speaker 1: a Jurassic Bark from Futurama.
- 2:24Speaker 3: But that that was more of a fuck you sad though,
- 2:26Speaker 3: wasn't it. Oh gosh, grussy bark. That was just like,
- 2:30Speaker 3: oh really you went there.
- 2:31Speaker 1: It's like we're really gonna yeah, stick it did and
- 2:34Speaker 1: break it off. Where Yeah, the end of that of
- 2:37Speaker 1: that episode, in that particular Armis feel sort of more
- 2:39Speaker 1: melancholy than Simpson we're talking about. Yes, that's right.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Yeah, And I just thought here I felt really I
- 2:46Speaker 3: thought the way they handled her actual death was done
- 2:48Speaker 3: really well. It was very simplistic but impactful.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Yeah. We've reviewed the part of Buffy on our TV
- 2:55Speaker 1: launch pod and the episode The Body of Buffy the
- 2:59Speaker 1: Vampire Sleigh where Buffy's mother dies. Spoiler. You usually say
- 3:02Speaker 1: spoiler before you actually reveal a spoiler. Yeah, maybe you
- 3:05Speaker 1: should do that, But anyway, watch Buffy Good Show is
- 3:10Speaker 1: a very very effective moment and this reminded me of
- 3:12Speaker 1: that to some way. I mean, they really sort of
- 3:16Speaker 1: capture the sense of disbelief that you have when you know,
- 3:20Speaker 1: someone who is so pivotal to your life and who
- 3:23Speaker 1: it was there one moment is now not it's like
- 3:27Speaker 1: oh wow, it's it's kind of a surreal moment.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Well, I think they realized this isn't a character that
- 3:31Speaker 3: can have a funny, wacky death, because some characters could.
- 3:34Speaker 3: I thought that Comic Book Guy could have a wacky
- 3:36Speaker 3: death and we'd buy it, right, I don't know, actually,
- 3:39Speaker 3: I mean they well, he has a death in the
- 3:41Speaker 3: trans of horror where he's like, we're still best death ever?
- 3:44Speaker 1: Would yeah, horror? Yeah, or bets are off those kinds
- 3:48Speaker 1: of things. I think with characters that have been established
- 3:51Speaker 1: for quite some time, even ones who are the butts
- 3:53Speaker 1: of jokes or supposedly unlikable, like Comic book Guy, even
- 3:58Speaker 1: if you lost them, they'd be like, ah, a bit
- 4:01Speaker 1: of the bit of the furniture's gone, a bit of
- 4:03Speaker 1: the bit of the fabrics gone. So you'd probably be
- 4:06Speaker 1: I don't think you'd be sort of upnights making moves
- 4:08Speaker 1: with a rip Comic book Guy or anything like that.
- 4:11Speaker 1: But I think, oh, okay, things aren't the same as
- 4:14Speaker 1: they used to be, and you turn you tune into
- 4:16Speaker 1: something like that. Simpsons because you know, how how often
- 4:18Speaker 1: are we used the term status quo? Yes, yeah, sorry,
- 4:22Speaker 1: sort of roll the tape back a bit. I mean, yeah,
- 4:25Speaker 1: it's it was hard to sort of get too. They
- 4:28Speaker 1: handled the death scene very very well. They handled home's
- 4:30Speaker 1: reaction to it very well, and the aftermath of it certainly,
- 4:34Speaker 1: particularly if you know, if you someone you love goes
- 4:38Speaker 1: and there's unfinished business. Oh shit. The last thing I
- 4:42Speaker 1: said to them was something I really wish I could
- 4:43Speaker 1: take back. All A lot of people could probably relate
- 4:45Speaker 1: to oh yeah, or oh they died, you know, thinking
- 4:49Speaker 1: that I didn't love them, or that, you know whatever.
- 4:52Speaker 3: I had that with my uncle Noel, because he's he
- 4:54Speaker 3: passed away in two thousand. Hit with the work incident,
- 4:56Speaker 3: right o, wait, God to do this? What happened? You
- 4:58Speaker 3: got killed at work? And he was the one relative
- 5:01Speaker 3: who watched wrestling with me. And then he got like
- 5:03Speaker 3: he was early thirties at the time, I was ten,
- 5:06Speaker 3: twelve whatever, and he's always come over to our place
- 5:08Speaker 3: on a Tuesday night and watched WWF raw at the
- 5:11Speaker 3: time on Fox Sports. And then he sort of he
- 5:14Speaker 3: got engaged and moved in with his partner. Blah blah, blah,
- 5:17Speaker 3: and then he just didn't really come over as often,
- 5:19Speaker 3: and I sort of like it didn't it pissed me off,
- 5:23Speaker 3: but I didn't.
- 5:24Speaker 1: I was just a child.
- 5:25Speaker 3: I was like, what what do you mean? You're gonna
- 5:26Speaker 3: hang out with you with your Beyonce? What do you mean?
- 5:29Speaker 3: So I never forget. He caught up on the Monday
- 5:32Speaker 3: and he and he said he wasn't going to he
- 5:35Speaker 3: was on the phone. I said, you come over and
- 5:36Speaker 3: watch the wrestling sight and he goes no, And I said,
- 5:38Speaker 3: all right, whatever, and I hung, I didn't hang out.
- 5:40Speaker 3: I gave it back to my and walked off. Next
- 5:41Speaker 3: day he gets killed. I've always sort of had that
- 5:43Speaker 3: in my mind, going, oh, last thing I said to
- 5:46Speaker 3: him was like I left he was he had disappointed me.
- 5:49Speaker 3: I was like that still to this day annoys me.
- 5:51Speaker 1: No, I can wholly under stair. Yeah. I mean a
- 5:55Speaker 1: lot of people ask me about the death of my dad,
- 5:57Speaker 1: which was more than ten years ago now, and of
- 6:00Speaker 1: course it's sad I miss him, that kind of business.
- 6:03Speaker 1: But at the same time, like, are you really saying
- 6:06Speaker 1: he really broke ups? Like no, because we had nothing
- 6:08Speaker 1: left unsaid between you got to say goodbye. We had
- 6:10Speaker 1: to say goodbye and yeah, yeah, we knew how we
- 6:14Speaker 1: felt about one. Yeah, and there was no sort of yeah,
- 6:17Speaker 1: like I said, nothing left unsaid. Yeah, but yeah, for
- 6:19Speaker 1: for home to be in this situation, yeah, I think
- 6:22Speaker 1: they conveyed that really well. But going back to the
- 6:26Speaker 1: character the moment, the fact that she's sort of been
- 6:27Speaker 1: in and out and she's she has her reasons, but
- 6:31Speaker 1: she just strikes me as completely unreliable when it comes
- 6:33Speaker 1: to her son.
- 6:33Speaker 3: I don't think she's a very good mother. No, no,
- 6:36Speaker 3: And there's probably listeners that they head were not going
- 6:39Speaker 3: to be annoyed by that because they really like the
- 6:41Speaker 3: Mona episodes. But she's not Grandpa is the rock Grandpa. Yeah,
- 6:45Speaker 3: he's the one who actually raised him. Yeah. Yeah, She's like, oh,
- 6:48Speaker 3: I was on the run for the government. It's like, yeah,
- 6:50Speaker 3: that's your fault. You created that situation. You were on
- 6:53Speaker 3: the run, not just because the government doesn't like you.
- 6:55Speaker 3: You fucked around and you didn't you were a random
- 6:57Speaker 3: found out. Yeah, you were irresponsible. You did thinks you
- 6:59Speaker 3: shouldn't have been doing. The mother of a child, and
- 7:01Speaker 3: you then have to pay the price and you're on
- 7:03Speaker 3: the run. He came back in to Homer's life and
- 7:04Speaker 3: then you're on the run again. Came backing to Homer's life.
- 7:06Speaker 3: You have to fake your death that the government was
- 7:09Speaker 3: I get. There's the sense of, oh, she faked her
- 7:11Speaker 3: death at the government so she can come back and
- 7:12Speaker 3: say goodbye.
- 7:13Speaker 1: She may feel regretful about the fact that she wasn't
- 7:16Speaker 1: in Homer's life, but it doesn't replace the fact that
- 7:18Speaker 1: she really wasn't in Homer's life. And when she does
- 7:20Speaker 1: come back in, she's there for a little while. Hopes
- 7:22Speaker 1: are built up, then they dashed again.
- 7:24Speaker 3: What are your thoughts on the fact that she used
- 7:26Speaker 3: him with the ashes to get one last screw you
- 7:28Speaker 3: to the government, Because in my thoughts, I thought, you're
- 7:30Speaker 3: putting Homer and you can get in trouble here.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Again, it felt like a selfish thing. I thought it
- 7:36Speaker 3: was a funny twist. I didn't see it coming, right,
- 7:37Speaker 3: but I thought it was. It was also a selfish
- 7:39Speaker 3: thing to do.
- 7:40Speaker 1: It felt that way to me as well.
- 7:41Speaker 3: In all honest I thought it was gonna be sentimental.
- 7:43Speaker 1: No, we're dreadfully conservative, show for good discounts, don't stick
- 7:49Speaker 1: it to the man. But I Holly get where you're coming.
- 7:52Speaker 3: From when that real make it have a risk his
- 7:54Speaker 3: life to get to the top of this mountains.
- 7:58Speaker 1: A rocket up the butt. It struck me as a
- 8:03Speaker 1: bit of a little bit of a selfish act. Yeah
- 8:06Speaker 1: for mine. I mean, you're lucky you've got Glenn Close
- 8:09Speaker 1: doing this one of.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Our I wasn't sure that it was Green Close. I
- 8:12Speaker 3: thought her voice was a little bit different. Yeah, I thought,
- 8:14Speaker 3: is this someone? But it was Glenn Close, it wasn't it,
- 8:17Speaker 3: which is good.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Oh? Absolutely. I like that they've got that continuity. And
- 8:20Speaker 1: you know, Glen Close is up for just about anything.
- 8:22Speaker 1: She's a very very good actor.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Hey, my favorite.
- 8:26Speaker 3: All right, what were your favorite moments in the episode?
- 8:28Speaker 1: What did I enjoy? Look, I'll be honest, there weren't
- 8:32Speaker 1: a whole lot that really sort of leapt out at me.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Then I did get a laugh out. It was, oh,
- 8:39Speaker 1: does Homo throw the Defender out the window at some stage.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Plan my aquarium. I just like the Defender in general.
- 8:46Speaker 3: The Defender was great.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Don't mess with the Defender, And I love that it
- 8:48Speaker 1: had a callback and thea that's what I thought. The
- 8:50Speaker 1: payoff Yeah, yeah, shouted to the Defender. But my aquarium,
- 8:56Speaker 1: I mean, you hear a crash, and they could be
- 8:58Speaker 1: anything like what's the words, oh it in aquarium? Yes,
- 9:00Speaker 1: that's terrible.
- 9:01Speaker 3: I really like, I'm really glad, he corrected me.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Honey.
- 9:03Speaker 3: People always really glad when they get created.
- 9:06Speaker 1: They felt like sort of classic Homer as well. Yeah,
- 9:09Speaker 1: I mean I like that he didn't go for the
- 9:13Speaker 1: gum drope haws a loi bubble, you know, he just
- 9:15Speaker 1: sort of played it very subdued dance he did, know,
- 9:17Speaker 1: which which I appreciated that. It was a good line
- 9:19Speaker 1: as well. I dug that a lot. And also one
- 9:22Speaker 1: thing I liked anytime he used a Paul A classic
- 9:25Speaker 1: Paul Simon song is all Right by Me and Mother
- 9:27Speaker 1: and Child. Rune is just a great song. Yeah, and
- 9:29Speaker 1: yeah we get white Rabbit as well. We do get
- 9:31Speaker 1: white Rabbit, which feels that's a little cliche when it
- 9:34Speaker 1: comes to all the time, it's the Simpsons.
- 9:37Speaker 3: It's the Simpsons thing. That's what they do. Every time
- 9:39Speaker 3: he's struggle about it's white rabbit.
- 9:40Speaker 1: It's either that or incense and peppermints. Yeah, quite regulars
- 9:43Speaker 1: a better song. Also, I think weed deficient to I
- 9:48Speaker 1: didn't think considered hemp bag unfair and it's going to
- 9:50Speaker 1: meet people, stewed. I didn't think that's going to happen.
- 9:53Speaker 1: I've traded Natalina whedon Is. But yeah, very very happy
- 10:05Speaker 1: to hear mother and children great song.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Also really enjoyed Lisa trying to get an outfit for
- 10:09Speaker 3: a dolphin CEO secretary of CEO.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I'm always I'm always a fan of that kind of
- 10:15Speaker 1: face off, Jeff Lenny a nurse secretary to a CEO.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Next question, you there eating the beast.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Tri hit me with your first Actually you sort of
- 10:28Speaker 3: relate to what we just talked about. What is the
- 10:30Speaker 3: name of said dolphin, Betsy, Let's see what one?
- 10:33Speaker 1: Okay, So I guess you've started. We're just jumping right
- 10:35Speaker 1: into it, right into it, Okay. Then speaking of Lisa,
- 10:39Speaker 1: she is going to elect to the food called businesses
- 10:41Speaker 1: about the use of what styrophone and starphone is correct?
- 10:44Speaker 3: What cookies did Lenny's mother cook for Karl make for Karl?
- 10:49Speaker 1: Well, there were two, yeah, because there were were there
- 10:51Speaker 1: lemon and then armond.
- 10:52Speaker 3: No first one. The second one was almond. The first
- 10:54Speaker 3: one is thinking of the palmi version of Indian food
- 10:57Speaker 3: in Australia.
- 10:59Speaker 1: But butter chicken, you guys got butter chicken. It literally
- 11:07Speaker 1: is the parmy of Indian it is. Indeed, I had
- 11:09Speaker 1: a party on Satday. No, yeah, living the kids and
- 11:11Speaker 1: I went to the Belmont Hotel. Belmont Hotel. It was
- 11:14Speaker 1: all right. It was okay because the party is the baseline. Right.
- 11:18Speaker 1: If you go to a pub and it's like we've
- 11:19Speaker 1: said this, yeah, okay, you don't really choosing Parmi Parmi.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Well, it's funny whenever you recommended a place good party
- 11:26Speaker 3: absolutely or palma put penny on. Where you're from, you
- 11:31Speaker 3: can be right and wrong.
- 11:32Speaker 1: So no, you can be right and say party. That's
- 11:34Speaker 1: what you can do. My next question for you is
- 11:36Speaker 1: that your turn? I think it's my speaking of the
- 11:41Speaker 1: Stuffer Hug place. Stuffer Hug is a what what Yeah,
- 11:47Speaker 1: it's like a it's a subsidiary or an offshoot.
- 11:50Speaker 3: Art what was it? I don't know's it's based on
- 11:54Speaker 3: build about or whatever it was?
- 11:55Speaker 1: Is. Yeah, welcome to stuff Hug A fun work love lab. Okay.
- 11:59Speaker 3: And my final quest, all right, I haven't got one here,
- 12:01Speaker 3: but i'll it's that place, Stuff and Hug. What are
- 12:04Speaker 3: the names of the employees, he says.
- 12:06Speaker 1: He told there's Eric, there's Andy, and there's black Eric.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Or is it the other way around? There's there's Alan,
- 12:13Speaker 1: Alan is Alan Eric and black Eric and black Eric.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Yes, because he he asked Eric, and Eric asked Alan.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Then Alan is asking Ic. I'm Eric, I mean black Eric. Yes,
- 12:24Speaker 3: there we go. Okay, I did like the input. I'm
- 12:26Speaker 3: like I've been.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Uh, do I have one for one more question? You
- 12:32Speaker 1: want to I've got two here? Okay, why not? Let's
- 12:35Speaker 1: just do one? Okay, Okay, your favorite? We see a
- 12:37Speaker 1: picture of cute little Homer a picture of not cute
- 12:41Speaker 1: little Homer. Yeah, what is not cute little Homer eating? Say? Okay,
- 12:48Speaker 1: it was a pink donut? Pink because he was only
- 12:51Speaker 1: a cookie in the first one.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Well, I think cupcake donut. Of course it's a Homer.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Yeah, you idiot. I wasn't going to say that thinking it.
- 13:07Speaker 1: You know who are idiots? Stone, gutter Stone, Absolutely, they're
- 13:10Speaker 1: not idiots. You know why? Because they're keeping the lights on.
- 13:13Speaker 1: They are.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Indeed, Yeah, particularly Katie g with their one hundred dollars support.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Oh, she just keeping the lights bright.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Indeed, and our man Andrews are keeping our glasses full
- 13:20Speaker 3: of water, keeping the facilities running here at the forking
- 13:24Speaker 3: a discount studio.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Gim me our glasses full of tap water.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Also our man Zach Putt. Of course, I'm going to
- 13:30Speaker 3: be launching his Mugging in the Middle podcast very.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Soon when he's not, you know, edit that out, Zach.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Yes, and Andrew Swany Swan the Lord of Discord, Lord
- 13:38Speaker 3: of Discord, and he's fixing up our website again for us.
- 13:40Speaker 3: We don't have a new website coming soon. I think, wait, what, yeah,
- 13:43Speaker 3: more fancy with basically with their website. I want it
- 13:46Speaker 3: to go to the homepage and there's the landing page
- 13:48Speaker 3: of all the podcast you can go. I want to
- 13:50Speaker 3: listen to that.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Oh so you have like here, here's my idea. Yeah,
- 13:53Speaker 1: are you paying attentions?
- 13:54Speaker 3: Wanting He's not building it, but he helps with the waste.
- 13:59Speaker 1: I forget build a bed, build a site. By the way,
- 14:02Speaker 1: this podcast sponsored by squares space, it's not really squarespace.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Be a friend of the pod. Yeah, there's a picture
- 14:09Speaker 1: of you and I in the middle like the sun
- 14:12Speaker 1: and then sort of raiding it from how it's like
- 14:14Speaker 1: speaking the hill fourfing a discount going down to South Park.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Something to do with movies, perhaps who knows many many podcasts,
- 14:22Speaker 1: but at the center of it is your pals. You
- 14:24Speaker 1: say it's going to guide them to the Yeah, this
- 14:29Speaker 1: is the longest, most drawn out four plays, like we're
- 14:33Speaker 1: going to get the fucking I really appreciate this poor play,
- 14:38Speaker 1: but get the fucking.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Yeah, you're gonna really like the show wants this launch.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Don't worry.
- 14:42Speaker 3: I've got four episodes in the can We're do indeed. Yeah,
- 14:44Speaker 3: it's good to have some in the bank.
- 14:46Speaker 1: That's true. I think that's the reason we're coming up
- 14:48Speaker 1: to Christmas time. I thought it'd be very good to
- 14:49Speaker 1: have some of the bank. It's good to have things
- 14:51Speaker 1: in the bank. Yes, yeah, I need stuff with the
- 14:53Speaker 1: map because you know why, we've got to wrap this
- 14:56Speaker 1: episode of quickly because I have to go to the dentist.
- 14:59Speaker 1: This in the film Godzilla Times Kong the New Empire.
- 15:05Speaker 1: I actually it was pretty good. But old Kong he's
- 15:08Speaker 1: sort of open around or grumping. It's because he's got
- 15:10Speaker 1: a fucked up tooth and especially his nerves. Oh yeah,
- 15:14Speaker 1: and I don't know how I've got this job, but
- 15:18Speaker 1: this guy has to go in and basically sort of
- 15:20Speaker 1: like wrap a big harness around it and then a
- 15:22Speaker 1: helicopter sort of rips it out. That's going to be
- 15:24Speaker 1: me today, I'm pretty sure, because I've got a tooth
- 15:26Speaker 1: that's all fucked up. It's like, I'm honestly going to
- 15:28Speaker 1: say to the dend It's like, look, unless this is
- 15:30Speaker 1: really gonna mess up the structural architecture of my jaw,
- 15:34Speaker 1: just wrap it out of my head. I don't care.
- 15:36Speaker 1: You're going to borrow to get your teeth fixed. I
- 15:38Speaker 1: got one fix. I'm just one. Ah well, no, not
- 15:41Speaker 1: all of them. I think he came back of a
- 15:42Speaker 1: whole sentergary. Well, I've got some veneers. Yeah, and I
- 15:44Speaker 1: also got a crown done. But then, you know, there's
- 15:47Speaker 1: a lot of great things in the Davis DNA, sporting prowess,
- 15:50Speaker 1: full head of hair, and wait a minute, that was
- 15:53Speaker 1: I think I got all the regressive Jane, but teeth,
- 15:56Speaker 1: bad teeth is it runs in the Davis DNA unfortunately.
- 15:59Speaker 1: So yeah, I'm just gonna get this one send because
- 16:01Speaker 1: I've got a bit.
- 16:01Speaker 3: Of all week and bad teeth or bad oral hygiene.
- 16:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna say bad teeth because that takes the responsibility
- 16:08Speaker 1: of me. But then I was also I was leaving
- 16:11Speaker 1: the Lord of Luis's house yesterday and felt that feels familiar,
- 16:17Speaker 1: that feels like a flat Oh, I've got a flat tire.
- 16:20Speaker 1: I need to get a new flat tie. Yeah, and
- 16:22Speaker 1: they come along the RCV guys, Yeah, look at this,
- 16:25Speaker 1: you've got a You've got a screw flush into your tire.
- 16:28Speaker 1: So I got to go and get a new tires
- 16:30Speaker 1: after this. Well, so what I'm saying is still dropping
- 16:31Speaker 1: over the fat tire go around. So what I'm saying is, yeah,
- 16:40Speaker 1: it would be good to have somebody for Christmas, all right now.
- 16:43Speaker 1: But anyway, Yeah, that's that's my trivia questions, all right,
- 16:46Speaker 1: So I want to stone cutters. Well we haven't done
- 16:48Speaker 1: the rest of the stonecutters. Sorry, guys, no more important
- 16:53Speaker 1: than me and my problems.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Jonathan Rossi, Rach Beasley, Stephen Roberts, Sewn DV, Pete Anderson,

- 17:58Speaker 3: All right, let's get into our review, shall we of
- 18:00Speaker 3: Mona leaves up. So the visual edit was May eleventh,
- 18:03Speaker 3: two thousand and eight. Because all's bet similar for us,
- 18:06Speaker 3: isn't it. Maybe America celebrates the same as US. Maybe
- 18:07Speaker 3: a got it wrong.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Well, America does sort of do everything ask backwards.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, the rest of the world does everything
- 18:14Speaker 3: asks backwards with America would say it comes the metric system.
- 18:19Speaker 3: So Mother's Day America, Mother's Day America's ours is the
- 18:22Speaker 3: first Sunday in May.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Right, sounds about right, And Father's Days like the first
- 18:26Speaker 1: Sunday in September.
- 18:28Speaker 3: So first Sunday. Maybe it's the same for Mother's Day
- 18:32Speaker 3: Australia twenty twenty five. Okay, so American and Australia actually
- 18:36Speaker 3: the same. But England must be different. Mother's Day England.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Mother's Day England is the thirty for March is in March,
- 18:42Speaker 3: so it's England's any when it's different, ok I thought
- 18:44Speaker 3: it was America and England. Okay, so America's I'm we
- 18:47Speaker 3: don't do they don't do ask backwards, they do that
- 18:48Speaker 3: one right.
- 18:49Speaker 1: My apologies to everyone in American, particularly all the mothers
- 18:52Speaker 1: of America. I love you all. Man.
- 18:54Speaker 3: Well, I just think it's nice that you know every
- 18:56Speaker 3: Father's Day, Mother's Day is going to be a well
- 18:58Speaker 3: will it be Father's Day? Because I think it airs
- 19:01Speaker 3: lates of Tennessee. You're not going to get it because
- 19:02Speaker 3: it's the first Sunday and September. Isn't it Father's Day
- 19:04Speaker 3: for us?
- 19:05Speaker 1: You'll want to set alone to the line I understand.
- 19:07Speaker 3: There would be no math, So basically get March for
- 19:12Speaker 3: England and I'm assuming Europe maybe and same as US
- 19:15Speaker 3: May for America and Australia. If you're a fan of

- 19:48Speaker 3: two written by Joel H. Cohen, threaded by Mike B.
- 19:51Speaker 3: Anderson and Ralph Sosa, and the chopo gag is this
- 19:54Speaker 3: punishment is not medieval, written in medieval medieval and.
- 19:58Speaker 1: The cash gag. So this was filler.
- 20:00Speaker 3: I thought, Yeah, you've an episode Mona's Farewell and you're
- 20:04Speaker 3: filling it with well the first two minutes before the
- 20:06Speaker 3: episode of even start the Long Hours evolution, Yeah, where
- 20:09Speaker 3: have you been or whatever?
- 20:10Speaker 1: This episode kind of felt like it had a fair
- 20:11Speaker 1: bit of filler in it, though I didn't.
- 20:13Speaker 3: I didn't really.
- 20:14Speaker 1: I thought the last the third act was just it
- 20:17Speaker 1: was your silliness? Was it was? It was your stuffer hug. Yeah,
- 20:20Speaker 1: it really was. So maybe stuffa Hugg was a deliberate
- 20:23Speaker 1: think at this because actually the first act felt like
- 20:25Speaker 1: a bit of filler as well. All the stuff at
- 20:26Speaker 1: the mall, I mean all the stuff at stuff Hug.
- 20:29Speaker 1: It was like there's a lot of stuff and not
- 20:31Speaker 1: a lot of hug.
- 20:31Speaker 3: And then it was just had nothing to do the
- 20:33Speaker 3: story because they just came home. Yeah, you could have
- 20:35Speaker 3: justly started with the family getting home saying what a
- 20:37Speaker 3: fun day and the more.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Wow I went to stuff a hug. Yeah, I told
- 20:41Speaker 1: him to stop using starifoe.
- 20:42Speaker 3: Yeah, this this definitely felt. Yeah, you think you think
- 20:45Speaker 3: an episode that is all right, we're going to send
- 20:47Speaker 3: off Glenn Close as Mona. Let's base the entire episode
- 20:50Speaker 3: around that. Why do we have yeah five minutes.
- 20:53Speaker 1: I need to revisit the mother episodes because I don't
- 20:56Speaker 1: know how much of her background where actually sort of
- 21:00Speaker 1: privy too, I mean they do. They show a lot
- 21:02Speaker 1: of her, you know, anti establisher and hyginks. Of course
- 21:06Speaker 1: they do.
- 21:06Speaker 3: That's why mister Birds is trying to get her.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I'm just yeah, I'd like to know more
- 21:09Speaker 1: about her backstory. But then, of course they probably already
- 21:11Speaker 1: did that episodes and I don't remember. It would have
- 21:15Speaker 1: been nice to have more though in this episode. Yes,
- 21:17Speaker 1: as opposed to stuff a hug and nonsense. I justly
- 21:20Speaker 1: thought they were going to I thought they would bring
- 21:22Speaker 1: back Hanks Scorpio or something when they had the when
- 21:25Speaker 1: it was it was like, wow, this is a secret
- 21:27Speaker 1: missile launching face or something. It's like, I was just
- 21:30Speaker 1: burn what's this going on here? What I launched the
- 21:32Speaker 1: missile for? I have no idea? Oh no, they're launching
- 21:34Speaker 1: nuclear waste into.
- 21:35Speaker 3: The nuclear wat Yeah, get ready into the rainforest.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Yeah that's right. Yeah.
- 21:39Speaker 3: The thing is, though I was really surprised. Actually we
- 21:41Speaker 3: didn't I was gonna touch this at the start. We're
- 21:43Speaker 3: surprised by how early they killed her off because the
- 21:46Speaker 3: whole episode was meant to be. They brought back Glenn
- 21:48Speaker 3: Close for it, right, Yeah, she was in it for
- 21:50Speaker 3: like what two minutes.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Didn't have a whole lot to do. No, No, although
- 21:55Speaker 1: actually it made sense to me that they would bumper
- 21:58Speaker 1: off early. And then you've the rest of the episode
- 22:00Speaker 1: is Homer dealing with that.
- 22:02Speaker 3: I guess her ashes being part of the story, is
- 22:04Speaker 3: incorporating her the story.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean that whole aspect of She shows up,
- 22:12Speaker 1: she feels bad, Home's not accepting the apology, she's dead.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Homer feels remorseful. He's got one last task to sort
- 22:19Speaker 1: of like resolve everything by climbing to this, to this
- 22:22Speaker 1: peak and setting for actions like okay, that's that's a
- 22:25Speaker 1: good cord to build it around. But yeah, everything else
- 22:29Speaker 1: they surrounded with was like, ah, this is kind of empty.
- 22:34Speaker 3: I wrote my notes. It's feeling very awestime power ish.
- 22:37Speaker 3: And then we've got the Yeah. I was like, is
- 22:40Speaker 3: that what you were going?
- 22:41Speaker 1: I guess so.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Yeah, But Austin powers was it big what's one less?
- 22:44Speaker 3: Is it two thousand and eight, wasn't it?
- 22:45Speaker 1: Yeah? When was gold Member out five? I want to say,
- 22:49Speaker 1: I think so, yeah, because because the first is ninety seven,
- 22:53Speaker 1: Spy of Shagman is ninety nine, and then I'm guessing
- 22:58Speaker 1: gold Members early two thousands.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Look, Goldmember was in two thousand and two, really early,
- 23:03Speaker 3: so six years prior. Yeah, we had on Jim Show,
- 23:06Speaker 3: we had Mindy Yeah, and maybe must Powers fall on
- 23:12Speaker 3: the works. I feel that the world needs one. Make
- 23:16Speaker 3: myie has just been am I He's doing Shrek obviously,
- 23:18Speaker 3: but it hasn't been a when's the last time Mike
- 23:20Speaker 3: Myers appeared in something?
- 23:21Speaker 1: He did a show for Netflix called The Pentaverate, which
- 23:23Speaker 1: is kind of like a comedic conspiracy thriller kind of show.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Not really okay, to the best of my recollection, I
- 23:30Speaker 1: saw a little bit when I thought, this is a
- 23:32Speaker 1: lot of Mike Myers in various disguises, doing various accents,
- 23:35Speaker 1: amusing himself, maybe not us so much.
- 23:38Speaker 3: People saying he just never recovered from the Love Guru.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I've heard that as well. I mean, I could
- 23:44Speaker 1: go for a new Austin Powers if they passed the Torch.
- 23:47Speaker 1: You need to find some young.
- 23:49Speaker 3: She revealed to us that the story that might pitch
- 23:51Speaker 3: to her for it would be it would be from
- 23:53Speaker 3: Doctor Evil's perspective. He would be the star. Okay, essentially
- 23:56Speaker 3: was the start, but it's more we're seeing it from
- 23:58Speaker 3: his side. Okay, Austin Powers is sort of like the
- 24:01Speaker 3: one we occasionally see well, I mean.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Otherwise, like the Doctor Evil Scott Evil dynamic and but
- 24:06Speaker 1: I think it'd be great if you had, like if
- 24:09Speaker 1: you found the right actor to play Austin Powers's son,
- 24:12Speaker 1: I think that'd be kind of interesting. I mean, the
- 24:15Speaker 1: first person springs to mind is Tom Holland for some reason.
- 24:19Speaker 3: They'd have to see what it all depends on the dialogue.
- 24:21Speaker 1: It really does.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Yeah, and a super Bowl commercial several years ago. That's
- 24:25Speaker 3: what we touched on in the Inn. Mindy and you
- 24:28Speaker 3: wash and you go. This can still work like him
- 24:30Speaker 3: and Seth Green doing their father's son. I'm like, if
- 24:33Speaker 3: it was the right script, Yeah, these guys can still
- 24:36Speaker 3: pull it off.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Well, you know, these legacy sequels are very in right. Yeah.
- 24:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I think if they said Austin Powers for is
- 24:42Speaker 3: coming to like Netflix where people be all about it.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Oh yeah, but having said that. I mean, Beverly Hills
- 24:46Speaker 1: Cop four came to Netflix and everyone was like, yeah,
- 24:49Speaker 1: I can't wait for this, and now it's like, oh wait,
- 24:51Speaker 1: there was a fourth one.
- 24:52Speaker 3: What's why I'm really concerned about Happy Gillmore too.
- 24:55Speaker 1: That's true.
- 24:56Speaker 3: It's like, ah, I love that movie so much, it's
- 24:59Speaker 3: not going to be the same and the expectations. I'm
- 25:02Speaker 3: leaving my expectations really low. I got burned by Bill
- 25:06Speaker 3: in ten three big time.
- 25:08Speaker 1: I get where you're coming from completely. I mean, yeah,
- 25:11Speaker 1: it strikes me that, you know, outpal the Sandman has
- 25:13Speaker 1: sort of built up enough of a brand of just
- 25:15Speaker 1: being we'll show up for anything that Sandler does that
- 25:19Speaker 1: you don't need to attach his best ip to it. Yeah,
- 25:23Speaker 1: you know, it's just like.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Coming to a Netflix Halloween film was actually pretty good.
- 25:31Speaker 1: He'll be Halloween. I didn't mind it. Yeah.
- 25:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I think he's just one of those guys, Adam
- 25:35Speaker 3: SANDLERWI just go I've got time for you, mate, because
- 25:40Speaker 3: you know, he's just a great guy.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Yes, but to possibly tank the good memories that people
- 25:47Speaker 1: have of say Happy Gilmore or if he did another
- 25:49Speaker 1: Billy Madison or something like No, I.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Do feel like that's Adam sounds still going to be
- 25:55Speaker 3: running the show though, which makes me think it hopefully
- 25:59Speaker 3: he won't let them ruin his baby, hopefully because how
- 26:02Speaker 3: many times do you see them do a rebui or
- 26:04Speaker 3: whatever and it's not the same direct jone. It's like
- 26:05Speaker 3: someone's different vision.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Correct correct.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Anyway, let's get back to the episode. Let's episode kicks off.
- 26:13Speaker 3: We have even understand So that's Springfield more and I
- 26:16Speaker 3: loved the reveal here. So you think it's just Mo
- 26:19Speaker 3: wanted to get in the car. I'm not leaving, not leaving,
- 26:21Speaker 3: not leaving. No, he's doing it deliberately because he's just
- 26:23Speaker 3: the son of a bitch.
- 26:25Speaker 1: It's very much the people who actually do this deliberately.
- 26:28Speaker 1: But it really does grow on my gears. If you've
- 26:29Speaker 1: got someone who's sitting in a car in a car
- 26:31Speaker 1: park and it's like you're on your phone or but
- 26:33Speaker 1: they've turned their car on.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like, well, I can get it if it's
- 26:36Speaker 3: a hot day, because I've got the air con running,
- 26:38Speaker 3: and I do it. Sometimes Nicolly goes, just wait in
- 26:40Speaker 3: the car, I'm gonna get run in and I'll be
- 26:42Speaker 3: straight out and I do that and people.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Look, look at me, and I'm like, it's hot house cool.
- 26:47Speaker 1: I don't be sitting here listening to not that.
- 26:50Speaker 3: I get it, And I also get said from both sides.
- 26:52Speaker 3: I can get why it's frustrating, but can also get
- 26:54Speaker 3: why some people would have the car on just being
- 26:57Speaker 3: a prick, yeah, which I thought was a nice gag.
- 26:59Speaker 3: And then we get the family walking out of Itchies
- 27:01Speaker 3: and Scratchies, which is not show.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Not a filing out with the beloved cartoon characters, but
- 27:05Speaker 1: instead just itchy and scratchy sweaters. Yeah you got any
- 27:09Speaker 1: of these? No, not really.
- 27:11Speaker 3: I used to have a couple when I was younger.
- 27:12Speaker 3: Mum used to knit sweaters, not always itchy.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Yes, I think it was a very late twentieth century thing.
- 27:19Speaker 1: I forgot when we sort of made the transition from
- 27:22Speaker 1: it feels like I'm wearing nothing at all. Do I
- 27:25Speaker 1: ever got to wear this jumper?
- 27:26Speaker 3: Look at some of my old jumpers, and I'm just like,
- 27:28Speaker 3: you can tell mum knitted it right, And I go,
- 27:31Speaker 3: it's pretty.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Bad ass, Mum. Absolutely, you need to be apart Simpson.
- 27:36Speaker 1: I'm like, that's legit branding something out of it. It's
- 27:38Speaker 1: like move over, Uncle Rica. Yeah.
- 27:43Speaker 3: I also you know when you get I don't know
- 27:46Speaker 3: whether it because you weren't watching the Simpsons when you
- 27:48Speaker 3: were young, But there's gags and the Simpsons right that
- 27:50Speaker 3: relate to you. You know, when you're a child, you
- 27:52Speaker 3: were right. You get to look through Star Wars and Jaws.
- 27:55Speaker 3: You got it better than me, don't you worry.
- 27:56Speaker 1: That's correct.
- 27:57Speaker 3: So there's gags and the Simpsons that I appreciated as
- 27:59Speaker 3: a kid, and there's gags that I appreciate as an adult.
- 28:02Speaker 3: I don't remember watching this episode at all, really probably did.
- 28:05Speaker 3: Don't remember watching it, so I don't know whether I
- 28:07Speaker 3: this went.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Over my head.
- 28:08Speaker 3: But the gag of kids complaining about being bored or
- 28:11Speaker 3: whatever and Marge saying I'll let you listen to music
- 28:13Speaker 3: radio in the car, holy shit? Does that relate now?
- 28:17Speaker 3: Because they can't. It's like the car the kids will
- 28:19Speaker 3: listen to Spady or Wiggles. I'm like, I just put
- 28:21Speaker 3: on my top back radio, please in my podcast. That's
- 28:24Speaker 3: it's all I listened to.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Now. I don't put music radio or anymore. Can I
- 28:26Speaker 1: listen to Kyle and Jackie O?
- 28:29Speaker 3: Don't do you listen to radio in the car? Actual music?
- 28:32Speaker 3: I don't at all unless I'm in.
- 28:34Speaker 2: The mood.
- 28:36Speaker 1: To be in the mood. Yeah, I mean I was
- 28:38Speaker 1: listening the other day to well, why was I not
- 28:42Speaker 1: listening to my usual podcasts or whatever? I don't know,
- 28:45Speaker 1: but smooth a than came.
- 28:46Speaker 3: I was gonna say, is it smooth Smoothes go to
- 28:48Speaker 3: for me? Now?
- 28:49Speaker 1: Smooth and gold Classic. It's so smooth because they have
- 28:52Speaker 1: a mix of like new and old brashing and it's
- 28:56Speaker 1: it's not a bracehief or anything like that. It's just
- 28:58Speaker 1: good smooth tears my hard, light hearted jeez, A bit
- 29:02Speaker 1: of smooth band to take us up to news. Andrew
- 29:06Speaker 1: D's camera came. I think I've made a mistakes several
- 29:11Speaker 1: times in the podcast. You don't mix up those two.
- 29:14Speaker 3: I mean the funniest commercial shows, didn't he Australia wackiest commercials?
- 29:18Speaker 3: I was always like always Andrew dadda.
- 29:20Speaker 1: I think so when he married like Australian not quite
- 29:22Speaker 1: supermodel but still incredibly hot. Alison Bray, Yeah, you're just
- 29:25Speaker 1: looking at them, was like, oh god, damn it. You
- 29:26Speaker 1: two are just living the dream because they're like my age,
- 29:28Speaker 1: like mid fifties or something. It's like, you two, this
- 29:33Speaker 1: is what I Shakhada. It's look when you see home
- 29:36Speaker 1: in the mirror, sort of like this is how he
- 29:38Speaker 1: sees and I was like, that's how I see myself.
- 29:39Speaker 1: It's like, no, that's not you. The lovely Louise of course,
- 29:42Speaker 1: looks like Alison Bray. I didn't look like Cameron.
- 29:44Speaker 3: Dada is a camera or Andrew who buried her?
- 29:47Speaker 1: Cameron? It is camera. Yeah. The brother's confused. Good last
- 29:52Speaker 1: time a lot of Dada's. Yeah, nearly Dano, it's correct,
- 29:57Speaker 1: I nearly there should get him on the show. He
- 29:58Speaker 1: has Dado and Dan quite Dan and not quite a dad.
- 30:02Speaker 1: But you'll get the good knee. It was meant to
- 30:05Speaker 1: be Jacques turned into Sergio. It was a zoo. Troy
- 30:11Speaker 1: put it in Edge. Yeah, but listen to music radio.
- 30:14Speaker 3: Yes, but Marge says you can. We'll pick one fun
- 30:17Speaker 3: thing to do before we leave. Lisa wants to complain
- 30:19Speaker 3: about the starrophone, but once based toys, I wants to
- 30:21Speaker 3: sit on the bench.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Relatable. You can tell this was written by people who
- 30:26Speaker 1: either have children or just advanced age. Yeah.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Yeah, and Maggie wants stuff and hug so she says,
- 30:31Speaker 3: let's do something. Maggie wants to do you ever remember
- 30:33Speaker 3: that we've done it? And I'm like, that is so true?
- 30:35Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, very much.
- 30:36Speaker 3: That's why when I look at people, I go, why
- 30:37Speaker 3: are you having this extravagant birthday party?
- 30:39Speaker 1: You knew you were about to say? For a one
- 30:41Speaker 1: year old? What are you doing? They won't have any
- 30:44Speaker 1: idea what's going on. I don't even need to make
- 30:46Speaker 1: him a cake.
- 30:47Speaker 3: They literally I get the cake and stuff is photos whatever.
- 30:50Speaker 3: But it's like, you don't need to go all out
- 30:52Speaker 3: like this.
- 30:53Speaker 1: It's not my sweet sixteenth. It's a party for you,
- 30:58Speaker 1: oh very much. So it's a party for the ground. Yeah,
- 31:01Speaker 1: that's it.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Yeah, or the TikTok, the tocking and the ticken.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Have you ever built a bear, built a bed?
- 31:07Speaker 2: No?
- 31:07Speaker 1: I never did any of that stuff.
- 31:08Speaker 3: Name I had the ones where you could draw on
- 31:10Speaker 3: them and rub it off and and redraw on those
- 31:11Speaker 3: more stacy, my sister had those notes. I'm never gonna
- 31:16Speaker 3: buy one for me. I don't want a teddy bear.
- 31:17Speaker 3: But it's cool, like you draw this special texture, wipe
- 31:21Speaker 3: it and come off with magic. Oh okay, yeah, but
- 31:23Speaker 3: I never built a bear.
- 31:24Speaker 1: No, I never built a bearer.
- 31:26Speaker 3: But the worker tries showing them the video on how
- 31:28Speaker 3: to build the bear or stuff the bear whatever stuff,
- 31:30Speaker 3: and Hug I did like that.
- 31:32Speaker 1: This is a you know, a minimum way do you
- 31:33Speaker 1: guys say, I'd tell you when I could show you
- 31:35Speaker 1: this video. Yeah, why do your job?
- 31:37Speaker 3: Unfortunately input missing.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Get Eric.
- 31:41Speaker 3: I'm Eric, So yeah, they had a little bad to that.
- 31:43Speaker 3: Then we get March saying can't buy a poodle because
- 31:46Speaker 3: it gives the dogs and ideas. Ralph overfills his teddy
- 31:49Speaker 3: and it becomes like a snow day and Lisa.
- 31:52Speaker 1: It's more Ralph being the new mel Yeah.
- 31:54Speaker 3: And then Lisa tries to get the dolphin outfit off
- 31:57Speaker 3: the working, which I thought was great. Just it's just
- 31:59Speaker 3: a great his sake of sexism.
- 32:03Speaker 1: So, little girl, what aut the do you want for
- 32:05Speaker 1: your dolphin?
- 32:06Speaker 2: Doctor? Okay, nurse?
- 32:08Speaker 1: It is profess, a kindergarten teacher, chef, lunch lady, see yew,
- 32:13Speaker 1: secretary to a CEO. You now it's a boy dolphin.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Oh here you go? Doctor Hm, lean full there, Betty.
- 32:27Speaker 3: Then we have but finding the hippos that can copy
- 32:30Speaker 3: his voice. These are always the best toys when you're
- 32:32Speaker 3: a kid. One of them I never forget the first
- 32:34Speaker 3: time Elliott. He's got this little radio thing and the
- 32:36Speaker 3: first like I was a dinosaur actually, and he said
- 32:38Speaker 3: something and I set it back to him. It was like, wait,
- 32:40Speaker 3: what what is this sorcery?
- 32:42Speaker 1: My? What's alone from? It's like Conan O'Brien, but where
- 32:48Speaker 1: he's flaying old time baseball? Oh have you never seen that?
- 32:54Speaker 1: Oh fucker? Since we're done here, Yeah, just time in
- 32:56Speaker 1: an old time baseball Conan, Okay, funny at fucking thing,
- 33:00Speaker 1: But I'll give you one I'll give you one bit
- 33:01Speaker 1: from that because it's like, you know, like Civil War
- 33:04Speaker 1: are reenactments and that thing. But it's like some old
- 33:06Speaker 1: time village and you know, they're playing old time baseball
- 33:10Speaker 1: like it's late eighteen hundreds or something. And he's got
- 33:12Speaker 1: like the big handle my mustard squat on and then
- 33:14Speaker 1: and everyone's really committed to the bit, and so Conan
- 33:17Speaker 1: does as well. But like a plane flights over, what
- 33:20Speaker 1: is that demonry? I loved it, but oh god, if
- 33:28Speaker 1: you've never seen old time baseball, I've made your day.
- 33:32Speaker 1: I pre emptly made your day. Fantastic.
- 33:34Speaker 3: Appeared in the premiere of the Simpsons this season.
- 33:37Speaker 1: I'm well aware.
- 33:38Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, the finale, Yeah, which I kind of ruined,
- 33:42Speaker 3: well done.
- 33:43Speaker 1: You know, he's got a lot of fans and Simpsons
- 33:46Speaker 1: hq uh what with the hippos with the top back? Yes,
- 33:55Speaker 1: it's al This is one of those things. I felt like,
- 33:57Speaker 1: this is just going on a little bit too long.
- 33:59Speaker 3: It felt like a I went into one of these
- 34:00Speaker 3: stores one day and was like, we could do a
- 34:02Speaker 3: whole bit around this. Yeah, we just can't find an
- 34:04Speaker 3: episode for it. Just check on the start of this one. Yeah, yeah, yeah, nothing,
- 34:08Speaker 3: there's nothing to it.
- 34:09Speaker 1: I wonder who the person is. Like, it's good, it's
- 34:11Speaker 1: not a whole episode.
- 34:12Speaker 3: Where's the filter here?
- 34:13Speaker 1: It's a bit good.
- 34:14Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I guess at this time, still making the
- 34:17Speaker 3: movie and whatever. They're just tired. You do get sense
- 34:20Speaker 3: of sometimes you go, I can I can't understand why
- 34:22Speaker 3: they were tired, but I just wish you could just
- 34:24Speaker 3: put a little bit more into it. But they get home,
- 34:26Speaker 3: and this is where the episode should have started. We
- 34:28Speaker 3: got home from somewhere and the door opens it's called
- 34:31Speaker 3: the door is open, sorry, and Bart is sent to
- 34:33Speaker 3: fetch the defender. I'm like, why didn't you just get
- 34:36Speaker 3: it yourself? But fetch the defender? So Buck goes and
- 34:39Speaker 3: gets it, brings back to a cement block, center block. Yes,
- 34:43Speaker 3: on a chain, and then he noises in the kitchen
- 34:47Speaker 3: that's where the food sleeps. So Homer goes in there,
- 34:48Speaker 3: spells a pie and finds his mother in there.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Do you have your version of the Defender? Do you
- 34:53Speaker 1: have like a home implement? And I really should, but
- 34:57Speaker 1: you said that, yeah, because when a kid, when a
- 34:59Speaker 1: kid fly kit the game, that's I just have these babies.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Well that's true, you've got the guy.
- 35:06Speaker 3: But you know, I'm sure that if a kid kicked
- 35:08Speaker 3: my garage door again, I went out with my fist flying.
- 35:10Speaker 3: They just come from all direction.
- 35:11Speaker 1: They're defending themselves. There's so many of them.
- 35:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I do need some sort of weapon. My dad's
- 35:18Speaker 3: got guns, but you have to keep them the safe.
- 35:20Speaker 1: Obviously, I would hope.
- 35:21Speaker 3: So it's like in Australia, guys, we have we're allowed
- 35:25Speaker 3: to have guns if you pass a certain test and
- 35:28Speaker 3: you keep unlock and key a proper test, and you
- 35:31Speaker 3: keep them in a safe and you don't wear them
- 35:34Speaker 3: in a holster on your belt when you go to
- 35:36Speaker 3: the seven eleven or too. Yeah, let's just let's just
- 35:40Speaker 3: move on.
- 35:41Speaker 1: That's a bit of a heart, but tur.
- 35:44Speaker 3: That's why people come to.
- 35:48Speaker 1: A whole lot of people. I'll give you a hundred
- 35:50Speaker 1: bucks a month for your scathing political commentary. I already
- 35:53Speaker 1: a fucking banter.
- 35:57Speaker 3: But it's his mum. He finds his mum in the kitchen.
- 35:59Speaker 3: He throws the send a block out, the defender out
- 36:01Speaker 3: hits the aquarium, aquarium, and I did like this margin,
- 36:04Speaker 3: what are you doing fighting rubber? Go get ice cream
- 36:06Speaker 3: because she's made him, made him a pie. That's spy. Yes,
- 36:09Speaker 3: so we come out from commercial is a commercial here?
- 36:12Speaker 3: It is just basically he says, you keep coming and going.
- 36:14Speaker 3: You just like the show Scrubs. That's a date of
- 36:16Speaker 3: reference now, but Scrubs was huge. Scrubs was good and
- 36:19Speaker 3: it was big and it was funny.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Yeah. I feel like it was one of those things
- 36:23Speaker 1: where people just turn on something more like someone because
- 36:29Speaker 1: I get the film. People's turned on Zach Brath for
- 36:31Speaker 1: no reason, for no reason. Oh didn't he do something? Well?
- 36:34Speaker 1: He made this movie Garden State that was very I
- 36:37Speaker 1: remember seeing this isn't bad. I mean's kind of knock
- 36:39Speaker 1: off where anders them? But that's uh no.
- 36:42Speaker 3: Natalie Portman, who's in what maybe's never messing in and
- 36:46Speaker 3: she's like wet on the front rest. Move continue, I'm
- 36:51Speaker 3: just confusing with another movie.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Yeah, but yeah, I think you're giving us too much
- 36:55Speaker 1: Zach Braf and we don't really want it now. Everything
- 36:58Speaker 1: that Zach Baff related is kind of like we don't
- 36:59Speaker 1: like it.
- 37:00Speaker 3: So no, I've never seen the movie. I always just
- 37:04Speaker 3: thought that was that was they were messing.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Oh and it's actually exactly yeah yeah, yeah, but it's
- 37:10Speaker 1: Garden State.
- 37:10Speaker 3: Yeah. The post of guards that she's they're like wet with, like.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Oh yeah yeah, all the three of them.
- 37:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought that was Debra Messing. I've never watched
- 37:16Speaker 3: the movie. Okay, yeah, it's.
- 37:18Speaker 1: Not bad, but it's one of those things where it's like,
- 37:20Speaker 1: were we really into this in the two thousands oh ago?
- 37:22Speaker 1: We were so sily and then that sort of thing
- 37:25Speaker 1: gains momentum. It's like we'd say, I don't know. Chris Pratt,
- 37:27Speaker 1: for instance, he says one or two things that a
- 37:30Speaker 1: few people don't like, and all of a sudden, the
- 37:32Speaker 1: tsunami happens. Like do you know he's like this and
- 37:34Speaker 1: that this would be good? You know, the guns gets great.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Chris prep wasn't it.
- 37:38Speaker 3: I swear Zach Braff had some sort of controversy exactly.
- 37:41Speaker 1: He was dating Florence Pew for a while, the actress
- 37:44Speaker 1: Florence Pugh. And there's like, a yeah, pretty decent. The
- 37:47Speaker 1: age gap forty nine and twenty one. So that's what
- 37:50Speaker 1: twenty eight years that decidable, even notorious per that me
- 37:55Speaker 1: is going, wait a minute, what about Jerry Seinfeld did
- 37:59Speaker 1: he date? Like, yeah, that's that was a smaller gap
- 38:02Speaker 1: in this though. But she was like young, young, well
- 38:04Speaker 1: she was like a high schooler. Yeah, she was like underage.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Everyone's like, every time I've forgotten about that. Yeah, every
- 38:09Speaker 1: time I'm always reminded that Onion article. I was like,
- 38:12Speaker 1: eerie man always gets a little thrill out of telling
- 38:14Speaker 1: people John Lennon beat his wife, Hey that thing you enjoyed,
- 38:19Speaker 1: let me let me ruin it for you. It's like, yeah,
- 38:24Speaker 1: I conduct yourself in a decent manner. Celebrities and I
- 38:27Speaker 1: know other people in the world, But at the same time,
- 38:29Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah, I'd be a dick on social
- 38:31Speaker 1: media and take the moral high ground all the time.
- 38:33Speaker 3: So he was two years older than me. He was
- 38:34Speaker 3: thirty eight. Funny watched SI fan down. I want these
- 38:36Speaker 3: guys are fucking old. No, they're my age. Oh yeah,
- 38:40Speaker 3: he was thirty eight at the time. She was seventeen. Yeah,
- 38:43Speaker 3: two years from now. And then me going with the
- 38:45Speaker 3: seventeen year old seems kind of creepy.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Oh yeah, let's lose daughter's age and.
- 38:49Speaker 3: Yeah, you're a kid. Yeah, it's like they're literally a child.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Yeah, Jerry, what.
- 38:55Speaker 3: Are you doing?
- 38:56Speaker 1: What is the deal with that school?
- 38:58Speaker 3: By the way, if you like sidefad talk, I was available,
- 39:01Speaker 3: although we make it.
- 39:02Speaker 1: A season desist letter. Jerry's other You're not allowed to
- 39:06Speaker 1: talk about it anymore. Got back to the episode showy, Yeah,
- 39:11Speaker 1: why not. I gotta go to the dens and get
- 39:12Speaker 1: my tooth through it.
- 39:13Speaker 3: Bit the scrubs mentioned. I thought, now, if this was
- 39:15Speaker 3: made now, this episode, that joke would be a futurrama.
- 39:18Speaker 3: Do you think taken away coming back? Take it away?
- 39:21Speaker 3: It's been canceled up three times? That's true, Yeah, back again.
- 39:25Speaker 3: They just having finally for this season. But Billy was
- 39:27Speaker 3: telling me that they're doing a second season.
- 39:29Speaker 1: This will be Billy West, dan Tho's close personal friends
- 39:32Speaker 1: Billy West.
- 39:35Speaker 3: Everyone knew Billy, but I know that sounded really douchebaded.
- 39:42Speaker 1: I didn't mean that. It didn't. I'm being unnecessarily dog myself,
- 39:48Speaker 1: but the government.
- 39:48Speaker 3: I'm not looking for her anymore because she faked her
- 39:50Speaker 3: death and she always just wants to be his mum.
- 39:53Speaker 3: She just wants to back in his life. And Homer
- 39:55Speaker 3: says he won't let himself get hurt again, and he
- 39:57Speaker 3: won't even digest the pie that she cooked for him.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that looked painful. Also, I think Glenn Close is
- 40:03Speaker 1: a good enough actor that you kind of do buy Oh, yeah,
- 40:06Speaker 1: that you buy it. Yeah, that she makes her a
- 40:08Speaker 1: good mother though, no, no, but make she.
- 40:11Speaker 3: Wondered whether she knew she was dying and she was
- 40:13Speaker 3: coming back to sort of just try and get it
- 40:15Speaker 3: didn't feel like a we didn't know why she died. Yeah,
- 40:18Speaker 3: it just felt like natural causes.
- 40:20Speaker 1: Yeah, but I think Glenn closest is talented enough to
- 40:24Speaker 1: do a lot with a little and you know, the
- 40:26Speaker 1: material that she has here to go to convey a
- 40:29Speaker 1: bit of regret and a bit of I could have
- 40:32Speaker 1: done things better and jin acting. To quote my man
- 40:38Speaker 1: John Love, its to quote my man John.
- 40:40Speaker 3: Yes, did you know he beat up any dick I've
- 40:44Speaker 3: never heard this. He's got two most the two things
- 40:50Speaker 3: you've been most known for hitting any dick, and that
- 40:52Speaker 3: they're losing them. He's mad and I an't ripen their benefits.
- 40:58Speaker 3: I've seen that meme shared like three. I was in
- 41:00Speaker 3: the last twenty four hours.
- 41:02Speaker 1: I thought it was another dad.
- 41:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, thats just does yes, but mont of them
- 41:09Speaker 3: shows the kids the baby photos of Homer and the
- 41:11Speaker 3: really cute that he looked less cute and he lost
- 41:14Speaker 3: his cuteness and she's just glad that he wasn't raised
- 41:16Speaker 3: on television. I liked this for really. You think he's
- 41:18Speaker 3: in front of the TV. No, he's in front of
- 41:19Speaker 3: the fridge.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Yes.
- 41:20Speaker 3: This here is a moment though where you realize she's
- 41:22Speaker 3: not a good but she wasn't a good mother. So
- 41:24Speaker 3: she leaves because she has to chain hers up to
- 41:26Speaker 3: a sub nuclear sub and she doesn't eve give him
- 41:28Speaker 3: a hug. She just hugs and kisses, and he wants
- 41:30Speaker 3: a hug and she just walks off and I'm like,
- 41:31Speaker 3: you know, and then he hugs the KFC bucket. See
- 41:34Speaker 3: she wasn't a good mum.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Yeah, because we'll go over there and give a kid
- 41:37Speaker 1: a fucking like she's putting her own political beliefs in
- 41:40Speaker 1: her own what she wants, her own wants ahead of
- 41:42Speaker 1: raising a child. Yeah, one might say she don't care.
- 41:47Speaker 3: He loves it, but I like the you know, you
- 41:50Speaker 3: left the whole and mean I filled it with food
- 41:52Speaker 3: and I'm never fall Good line, good line. Yeah, Homer
- 41:55Speaker 3: is now watching the SP's What.
- 41:57Speaker 1: The hell are the Spies? It's like a sports award, okay,
- 42:00Speaker 1: because the ESPN ESPN is a sports network, right, Yeah,
- 42:03Speaker 1: so I think the SPS is like, ask ifp is
- 42:05Speaker 1: a sports network.
- 42:07Speaker 3: I didn't.
- 42:08Speaker 1: I didn't ask if it was. I phrased it as
- 42:10Speaker 1: a rhetorical question.
- 42:11Speaker 3: I put, you're like, SP's this pots network? Right? I
- 42:14Speaker 3: thought you meant is it? I now I know what
- 42:18Speaker 3: you're saying. Sorry, okay, I took it wrong.
- 42:21Speaker 1: My bad. We may have some indoor kids listeners who
- 42:25Speaker 1: like ESPN like the is that a Mayo brings? Then in.
- 42:35Speaker 3: The War show, I would explain what Lance Armstrong was there.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Indeed, now what I've written here is good supporting acting
- 42:40Speaker 1: work by Glenn Close. Bad came by Lance Armstrong. I
- 42:43Speaker 1: didn't think he was all that great. Also, Lance Armstrong,
- 42:46Speaker 1: I don't know history has shown him to be kind
- 42:49Speaker 1: of an iffy person.
- 42:50Speaker 3: It happens, so wait till these Diddy List comes out.
- 42:52Speaker 1: Oh boy, I think even we're going to be on
- 42:55Speaker 1: the Diddy List.
- 42:56Speaker 3: Remember Hollywood, it's gone now.
- 43:02Speaker 1: Yeah, remember that last fifty years of arts and entertainment
- 43:05Speaker 1: you enjoyed it. It's stricken from the record.
- 43:08Speaker 3: Kevin Spacey sit back going.
- 43:11Speaker 1: He's losing his reputation and I am reaping the benefits. Andy,
- 43:18Speaker 1: Yeah about like hit list and ship list? People who
- 43:27Speaker 1: have we done it? Andy Dick reference this week. Okay, go.

- 44:00Speaker 3: pozzy bear here rips the popping off and it's just
- 44:02Speaker 3: a hand Why up, Michael, wake up? Yep, and the
- 44:05Speaker 3: homework for give her though or accept her tucking. He's
- 44:07Speaker 3: basically saying, no, I will not do this.
- 44:09Speaker 1: That looked like a really good tuck in.
- 44:10Speaker 3: It did.
- 44:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I hate been tucked in. Oh I have my
- 44:13Speaker 1: feet being tucked in. Yeah, you're a foot outside of
- 44:15Speaker 1: the Car's got yet? Same here?
- 44:16Speaker 3: Yeah I can't. I literally cannot sleep with my feet
- 44:18Speaker 3: under the bake. Its just I get hot.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Yea to start with the lease, I've got to have
- 44:22Speaker 1: a foot outside, Yeah, at least one foot. Yeah, I
- 44:24Speaker 1: don't care if Gremlin gets it.
- 44:27Speaker 3: But then during the night he feels terrible, so he
- 44:29Speaker 3: makes her a card and it says been a real turkey.
- 44:31Speaker 3: Goes downstairs to give her the card and he finds
- 44:33Speaker 3: her dad on the chair.
- 44:35Speaker 1: Actually that was a really sweet the fact that this
- 44:38Speaker 1: kind of dopey guard.
- 44:39Speaker 3: Yeah, but heartfelt like he made the effort.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I've been a real dourky. Yeah I did the
- 44:45Speaker 1: hand turk in all that and something. It was like, yeah,
- 44:47Speaker 1: that was it was affecting.
- 44:55Speaker 2: I feel terrible. My own mother reached out to me,
- 44:58Speaker 2: and I rejected her. I'm going to make her a code.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Mom.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Are you asleep?
- 45:09Speaker 1: Asleep with your eyes opened? Mom?
- 45:14Speaker 2: Mom.
- 45:16Speaker 3: So at the funeral home, and Grandpa says he was
- 45:18Speaker 3: considering dancing on the grave, but now he's not going to.
- 45:21Speaker 1: He's just too sad. He's wearing his tap shoes. Is Yeah,
- 45:24Speaker 1: forgive me if I am not up to speed with
- 45:27Speaker 1: previous Mona episodes. But the three dudes on the other
- 45:30Speaker 1: side of Homer and grand paying attention to them, there
- 45:33Speaker 1: were like three guys. I'm wonderingly, are these like former
- 45:37Speaker 1: Are these like ex lovers or something? Oh I couldn't.
- 45:39Speaker 3: I'd have to go back and check. I'm not too sure. Yeah,
- 45:41Speaker 3: I wasn't really paying attention honestly. But home is now
- 45:43Speaker 3: at home now with the urn. He feels bad of
- 45:47Speaker 3: me to it before he passed away, and but then
- 45:49Speaker 3: tries to cheer him up because you didn't suck that bad.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Really that bad? Not that bad? You take away?
- 45:55Speaker 3: You can get it now, is it Mo's? And Karl says,
- 45:57Speaker 3: you know it's important to make peace with your loved ones.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Then he calls his mum, but she wants to talk
- 46:01Speaker 3: to Carl he was her son too, and she says goodbye,
- 46:05Speaker 3: I love you or whatever, yes and out the quickie
- 46:08Speaker 3: mart and Hermer asked what happens to you when you die?
- 46:11Speaker 3: And he says, manjul is gonna sell his saw die
- 46:12Speaker 3: hair blonde and marry his cousin. But you get here
- 46:16Speaker 3: a little bit of a band between Flanders and a
- 46:18Speaker 3: pooh here oh for crown out loud.
- 46:20Speaker 1: People aren't mice.
- 46:21Speaker 2: Oh what a surprise, jor Jesus Junior is gonna set
- 46:25Speaker 2: us all straight. Look, Homer, people don't come back as
- 46:28Speaker 2: anything except for our Lord who came back as bread.
- 46:30Speaker 1: That's it.
- 46:31Speaker 2: It's it.
- 46:34Speaker 1: That's the thing with your religion. It's a bummer. Even
- 46:37Speaker 1: the sing along No, the sing alongs are rooky.
- 46:40Speaker 3: Marge then found finds the box of Monus things and
- 46:43Speaker 3: it's got a video Will in there by Gary's video
- 46:46Speaker 3: Wills the same guy he didn't make his birthday party
- 46:48Speaker 3: and he had to fight with his girlfriend there and
- 46:50Speaker 3: she leaves Bart the knife. Lisa, her rebellious spirit. Actually
- 46:54Speaker 3: want to touch on this happens throughout the episode. I
- 46:57Speaker 3: feel like Lisa wasn't very Lisa like in this episode.
- 47:02Speaker 3: For the last act anyway, because she tries to justify
- 47:06Speaker 3: not climbing up the hill. Oh, that's right for grandma.
- 47:09Speaker 3: She stole the necklet, the pearls, crystal rings and stuff,
- 47:13Speaker 3: and I thought Lisa wouldn't do this.
- 47:15Speaker 1: Yeah, this feels a little out of character. Felt a
- 47:17Speaker 1: little out of character.
- 47:18Speaker 3: Yeah. And Marge has the purse which is woven in
- 47:21Speaker 3: hemp and it smells like concerts. Then she leaves home.
- 47:25Speaker 3: A difficult task is to climb to Monument Park. Climb
- 47:28Speaker 3: the highest point and exactly three pm release her ashes.
- 47:31Speaker 1: I thought that's really fun for anyone, throw symbolic gests.
- 47:36Speaker 1: Go this one sucks. Yeah.
- 47:38Speaker 3: And then she puts some animal whoopers at the end,
- 47:40Speaker 3: just because she knows what he likes. Chimp on a toilet,
- 47:45Speaker 3: Chip sounds so much better than monkey a chimp.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Chip, I just to watch him crazy crazy.
- 47:52Speaker 3: I still haven't watched it yet, but I'll put it
- 47:54Speaker 3: on the watch list for sure. Wonderfully traumatic they arrive
- 47:57Speaker 3: at Monument Park. I will avenge you correct him. Oh,
- 48:01Speaker 3: we just love being correct to sweet.
- 48:02Speaker 1: We're always really glad when they're corrected, like.
- 48:06Speaker 3: When Homer can be secastle and actually, yes, actually makes sense, yeah,
- 48:10Speaker 3: but then stays behind. He's not going to be doing
- 48:12Speaker 3: it at Lista tries bailing out and eventually she just
- 48:14Speaker 3: lays down. Then Marge Omas says, the last one left. Marshes,
- 48:17Speaker 3: I've got energy, and I've even got energy. Despare makes
- 48:20Speaker 3: her piggyback. You're getting sweaty and I'm starting to slip off,
- 48:23Speaker 3: so she bails as well. It's only fifteen minutes to go.
- 48:25Speaker 3: So he starts climbing. I really like the reveal of
- 48:27Speaker 3: him climbing down. That's but he gets to the top
- 48:32Speaker 3: and you never knew me well, and if you did,
- 48:35Speaker 3: because if he did, you wouldn't ask me to climb anything.
- 48:37Speaker 3: And he sets the ashes free and exactly three o'clock
- 48:39Speaker 3: does exactly what he want Mum wants him to do,
- 48:41Speaker 3: and he goes straight into the missile guiden system and
- 48:44Speaker 3: the launch is avoided.
- 48:45Speaker 1: Yeah, and I went.
- 48:47Speaker 3: It seems like it's very extravagant, right because it's listally
- 48:49Speaker 3: what ten minutes later they've just got to go on again.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Yeah, he didn't break anything. It's like, I don't know,
- 48:54Speaker 1: is this the Simpsons. Rid's being showing a little bit
- 48:58Speaker 1: of conservatism or a little bit of even cynicism and
- 49:00Speaker 1: saying all these grand gesses that you protests are making
- 49:03Speaker 1: don't really add up a whole lot in the overall
- 49:05Speaker 1: scheme of things.
- 49:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that's too.
- 49:07Speaker 1: That is definitely maybe, maybe it's a possibility. I completely agree.
- 49:10Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a way of acknowledging that the rainforest shouldn't
- 49:12Speaker 3: be well, they should have viewer. Rainforests are getting sucked
- 49:16Speaker 3: over by people like this. But also protests aren't really
- 49:20Speaker 3: having that much impact, Yeah, which is kind of sad.
- 49:24Speaker 1: A little bit.
- 49:25Speaker 3: Yeah, but you can plain it all you want, ye
- 49:27Speaker 3: ain't listening.
- 49:29Speaker 1: The bog of people don't care?
- 49:31Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly right. So we get the worker here try
- 49:33Speaker 3: to solve the issue, and he says, you think you're Monk?
- 49:35Speaker 3: Monk said another show I never watch? Would I enjoy Monk?
- 49:38Speaker 3: I never really watched Monk either.
- 49:39Speaker 1: Okay, I like the guy who plays Monk, and I
- 49:41Speaker 1: think it's got a good cast. But I think it's
- 49:43Speaker 1: one those shows like Castle. Well you like white collar.
- 49:46Speaker 3: Right, yeah, that kind of thing that kind of it's
- 49:48Speaker 3: Castle and white collar as yeah.
- 49:49Speaker 1: Or burn notice yeah, yeah, which yeah, it's sort of
- 49:52Speaker 1: become a bit of punchlines. But you know, I think
- 49:55Speaker 1: when you reach a certain age, like well, I'm a
- 49:57Speaker 1: little further down the track, but and you being like
- 49:59Speaker 1: thirty five or what thirty five, thirty six, I'm thirty six now, yeah,
- 50:03Speaker 1: you're in the sweet spot where it's just like I
- 50:05Speaker 1: don't want to be too traumatized. I don't want to
- 50:07Speaker 1: watch the Red Wedding every week. I think I just
- 50:10Speaker 1: want to see James Spader sold some crime.
- 50:13Speaker 3: I want to be the same thing, same structure, same template,
- 50:16Speaker 3: and I want to know what I want to know
- 50:17Speaker 3: what's coming. That's why the last season SVU is getting
- 50:22Speaker 3: like depressing endings. I'm like, this is why I watched
- 50:24Speaker 3: this show. I want to get the bad guys, the
- 50:26Speaker 3: bad guys that I'm supposed to win. That's life, though
- 50:31Speaker 3: I'm like, oh yeah, this is, but this show is
- 50:33Speaker 3: not life. I watch the show to get away from it.
- 50:36Speaker 1: I've got a lot. Yeah, I don't like going a
- 50:39Speaker 1: television so I can escape that life for a while.
- 50:42Speaker 3: But Homer slips on the urn. Here it lands on
- 50:44Speaker 3: the missile and the workers shake it. You're supposed to
- 50:48Speaker 3: like it, and he falls hurts himself or they have
- 50:49Speaker 3: to hurt him because he didn't hurt himself. Yes, we
- 50:51Speaker 3: come back and they give the ashes back in like
- 50:54Speaker 3: vacuum vacuum yet and I don't want to back because she's
- 50:58Speaker 3: to me, she's nothing but trouble and revealed here that
- 51:00Speaker 3: it is actually mister Burns and he's using the rocket too,
- 51:02Speaker 3: as we said, disposed nuclear waste into the rainforest. But
- 51:06Speaker 3: Homer says he has to leave early next those days.
- 51:08Speaker 3: By the way, why I've got you here? Now the
- 51:10Speaker 3: system's operational again, so it's just like, what was the
- 51:13Speaker 3: point of all this?
- 51:14Speaker 1: Anyway?
- 51:14Speaker 3: They can just get it back up again. But home's
- 51:16Speaker 3: like the little prison bar throws him the knife, So
- 51:18Speaker 3: it's all sort of like coming forward circle the will.
- 51:21Speaker 1: Yeah, except look it's dumb asking it picky, but it's
- 51:24Speaker 1: lends in his head. How's how's he get it out
- 51:26Speaker 1: of his head? And then other knife in the head. Yeah?
- 51:28Speaker 1: It was stupid, wasn't it. I didn't like it.
- 51:30Speaker 3: I never liked that. They do a lot with mister Burns,
- 51:33Speaker 3: just the unrealistic body morphing and what can we move
- 51:37Speaker 3: on from that? But he sees the chain and cinder block.
- 51:40Speaker 3: What could I make out of those two things? He's like,
- 51:42Speaker 3: was it hanging off his nipples or something?
- 51:43Speaker 2: Oh?
- 51:43Speaker 1: Yeah, whatever.
- 51:45Speaker 3: But then Marge has the hamp bag. She burns it, which,
- 51:47Speaker 3: as you've already that wouldn't work.
- 51:51Speaker 1: It's going to get you.
- 51:52Speaker 3: But Lisa turns it, but burns it by getting the
- 51:55Speaker 3: diamond that she took from her nightstand.
- 51:57Speaker 1: I thought, whatever.
- 52:00Speaker 3: But then the workers that get high and we just
- 52:02Speaker 3: have your fingers a legs for your hand of a
- 52:04Speaker 3: I just high talk and he takes out seven of
- 52:07Speaker 3: them because birds and the higher ten people. Two of
- 52:09Speaker 3: them all away, and one is.
- 52:11Speaker 1: One of Jewish and has to sleep early before. Is
- 52:13Speaker 1: that a thing. Yeah, that's where you're not allowed to
- 52:18Speaker 1: do anything from our Jewish friends. Forgive me if I'm
- 52:21Speaker 1: messing this up. I don't think you're allowed to do
- 52:24Speaker 1: like anything from sundown on Friday to sundown on Saturday.
- 52:30Speaker 1: It's like you're not allowed to go on if you're devout,
- 52:33Speaker 1: if you're an Orthodox Jew.
- 52:34Speaker 3: According to law, shabbit is observed from a few minutes
- 52:37Speaker 3: before the sun sets on Friday evening until the appearance
- 52:40Speaker 3: of three stars in the sky on Saturday night or
- 52:42Speaker 3: an hour after sundown. So you can't work.
- 52:47Speaker 1: You can't work you can't like you can't travel in
- 52:49Speaker 1: a car. Really apparently all this stuff this is I
- 52:52Speaker 1: think this is a very heavily orthodox or if you're
- 52:54Speaker 1: about you okay, good way good because getting out of
- 52:58Speaker 1: work and Friday night work, can't it absolute? Someone's converting
- 53:03Speaker 1: nice nice one.
- 53:05Speaker 3: But so then we get the the brick so uses
- 53:09Speaker 3: the defender on the workers, as we said, that'll do
- 53:11Speaker 3: a brick babe reference. And then he accidentally activates this
- 53:14Speaker 3: self destruct but he escapes using the parachute. So is
- 53:17Speaker 3: everyone else in there dead? Now?
- 53:18Speaker 1: I have no idea what happened.
- 53:19Speaker 3: It's just it's not the wis didn't it? But we
- 53:22Speaker 3: get a nice ending note to Homer adds water to
- 53:23Speaker 3: the Ashually, I wanted to the ashes to bring it.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Back to life.
- 53:26Speaker 3: That's not how it works, Homer. At least it says
- 53:28Speaker 3: she will uh. The Homo says she'll live on forever
- 53:31Speaker 3: in our hearts because of what you did here today.
- 53:33Speaker 3: And then we get a montage just various clips from
- 53:35Speaker 3: the show of her appearances, and we get a new
- 53:37Speaker 3: clip here of Homer wanting extra sugar on his cereal
- 53:40Speaker 3: and she says no, because you're sweet enough.
- 53:42Speaker 1: That's a nice memory. And then he also just tastes
- 53:44Speaker 1: it anyway spoonful of sugar because he's Homer.
- 53:46Speaker 3: Yes, as the end of monat leaves are. So it
- 53:49Speaker 3: was a nice It was a twist on an appearance
- 53:52Speaker 3: because she appears for like what two minutes.
- 53:54Speaker 1: She's not in it long, but she makes a good impression.
- 53:57Speaker 1: Is in it?
- 53:57Speaker 3: Glenn Close isn't in it, but the character by Ashes
- 54:00Speaker 3: is in it.
- 54:01Speaker 1: Her spirit is throughout it. What do we learn, Bomber,
- 54:04Speaker 1: That's what.
- 54:04Speaker 3: You learn from the episode, mister Davis.
- 54:06Speaker 1: This may be a controversial position, mister Dando, but building
- 54:11Speaker 1: her own beer is for suckers. It's for chumps. Go
- 54:14Speaker 1: with pre built.
- 54:15Speaker 3: Yes, you're good at your ikea bears, do not stuff
- 54:20Speaker 3: a hardback, do not build a bear flat, and always
- 54:24Speaker 3: buy your shit preassembled or get someone to wear a
- 54:26Speaker 3: task of that shit.
- 54:27Speaker 1: Otherwise you will lose the respect of your girlfriend. Oh
- 54:30Speaker 1: wait a minute, Oh no, I didn't mean to say
- 54:33Speaker 1: when you can't do.
- 54:34Speaker 3: It, it was too late for Nickols. She'd already married before
- 54:36Speaker 3: she realized I couldn't put a shelf on the wall.
- 54:37Speaker 3: So I learn they should be that kind of thing
- 54:41Speaker 3: in dating. You used to have like a.
- 54:43Speaker 1: Your manly skills. Yeah, you have to run through a
- 54:45Speaker 1: series of tests.
- 54:46Speaker 3: It's like, describe the difference between a flathead and a
- 54:49Speaker 3: Phillip's head screwdriver.
- 54:50Speaker 1: Oh shit, flat isn't that tasty? Fish?
- 54:54Speaker 3: I learned that I wasted way too much time in
- 54:57Speaker 3: front of the television. I should have been sitting in
- 54:59Speaker 3: front of the fridge.
- 54:59Speaker 1: Could have be looking at the colonel, the glorious face
- 55:02Speaker 1: of the colonel all that time, him just staring back
- 55:04Speaker 1: down at you.
- 55:04Speaker 3: Can you remember the first time you had a major
- 55:08Speaker 3: franchise takeaway like a McDonald's or a KFC.
- 55:11Speaker 1: I have memories.
- 55:12Speaker 3: My earliest memories of McDonald's is the super size. I
- 55:17Speaker 3: have a super sized thing going, and now obviously you
- 55:20Speaker 3: can't do it anymore, damn you, Morgan. But super sizes
- 55:22Speaker 3: used to be a thing in the strade for a
- 55:23Speaker 3: little while. I just sort of it, come and go,
- 55:25Speaker 3: come and go, overgoing supersize, super sized, and was like,
- 55:28Speaker 3: you don't need it, super size, you don't need it.
- 55:31Speaker 3: You're fatty.
- 55:33Speaker 1: I thought you're a bad instead of supersized, Mama thought
- 55:36Speaker 1: you were going up to the concer superzars motherfucker excuse me,
- 55:43Speaker 1: but yeah, I'm trying to remember. I don't think it
- 55:47Speaker 1: was McDonald's. I think it was probably KFC or Kentucky
- 55:49Speaker 1: Bright Chickens. We used to call it, and we are
- 55:51Speaker 1: now calling it again.
- 55:52Speaker 3: It's still yeah, which makes me happy.
- 55:54Speaker 1: It does indeed look like it's fried food.
- 55:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 56:00Speaker 3: I feel like KFC is the one major franchise that
- 56:02Speaker 3: aren't afraid to go We're not good for you.
- 56:04Speaker 1: You don't care, you love it. Not to shill another
- 56:10Speaker 1: podcast or anything or YouTube channel, but friendly Jordie's Yeah.
- 56:14Speaker 1: Astrain comedian has been doing a lot of so and
- 56:17Speaker 1: so workers Confess your sins, and KFC's workers sins are
- 56:21Speaker 1: so much He's done two videos on them. It's like
- 56:24Speaker 1: he hears some real horror stories from what the what
- 56:26Speaker 1: the kids get up to, working into with the working
- 56:28Speaker 1: for the colonel, not washing their hands, that kind of thing.
- 56:31Speaker 1: Oh yeah, but also you know, oh, there's a lot
- 56:33Speaker 1: of oh and s issues, But there's also yeah, it's
- 56:35Speaker 1: just bad management. Also just terrible, terrible hygiene. It's like,
- 56:40Speaker 1: I don't care, I don't care. I love it.
- 56:43Speaker 3: Sometimes I look at them when I'm in the drive
- 56:45Speaker 3: and I'm waiting for the food, and you see them
- 56:46Speaker 3: whipping your food together, and you go, you didn't wash
- 56:49Speaker 3: those hands. Why aren't you wearing gloves? Oh there's chip
- 56:52Speaker 3: saw smush on the floor.
- 56:55Speaker 1: You look, ok, you twelve and you take the first
- 56:58Speaker 1: butte of that zinger. It's like, oh, listen, then from
- 57:02Speaker 1: this day forward, your name will be all right.
- 57:05Speaker 3: It is the Guy Davis New Name Championship for season nineteen.
- 57:09Speaker 3: I think we've pretty much conceded who the winner is.
- 57:11Speaker 1: It's going to be his name is Jeered. I love
- 57:15Speaker 1: if he has.
- 57:15Speaker 3: Never listened to the South Lie podcast and has no
- 57:17Speaker 3: idea what's going on?
- 57:18Speaker 1: If that would just make my why have they made
- 57:20Speaker 1: this dumbas song about why the name Jeered? What are
- 57:24Speaker 1: you taking the pit? I won the championship.
- 57:28Speaker 3: I've won it, damn it. But they Currently the board
- 57:31Speaker 3: stands at this in first position Jared Hornby on twenty
- 57:34Speaker 3: five points, in second position, Phil Hawkins on fifteen, and
- 57:36Speaker 3: third Adam Wolhouse on fourteen points.
- 57:40Speaker 1: This week, okay, first point one point goes to Adams
- 57:44Speaker 1: two ashes.
- 57:46Speaker 3: David Bowie reference.
- 57:47Speaker 1: I would imagine times too. That would be One might
- 57:50Speaker 1: also say a biblical reference just a pre date. David Bowie. Mon,
- 58:00Speaker 1: it's like Bible did it, Babel did it. By the way,
- 58:05Speaker 1: that's a shout out to something we'll be doing just
- 58:07Speaker 1: at while speaking of south Park.
- 58:09Speaker 3: Yeah, if you've never checked out the south Park podcast,
- 58:11Speaker 3: we're about to record our review of The Simpsons already
- 58:13Speaker 3: did it, so maybe you will want to check that
- 58:15Speaker 3: one out.
- 58:15Speaker 1: Least you'll find that everything is connected. Yes, so that
- 58:19Speaker 1: makes that is David Nelly, Dave Nelly.
- 58:24Speaker 3: What has Dave done to get that cut? Isn't it
- 58:26Speaker 3: like ram mc nelly. Oh yes, ram My Nallie David Nelly.
- 58:30Speaker 3: So he has got now two points one, I'm Dave.
- 58:32Speaker 1: On your Dave two points. Well, Dave got two points,
- 58:35Speaker 1: but these two points go to whoever gave us she's
- 58:39Speaker 1: leaving Homer Beatles reference made in my heart that or woman.
- 58:44Speaker 1: Let's see who it is. His name is Felip. His
- 58:49Speaker 1: name is Argus, but we're not going.
- 58:53Speaker 3: Philip Hawkins now on seventeen points he is, You've got
- 58:57Speaker 3: one episode left and he's eight points behind. I think
- 58:59Speaker 3: he's up shit without some sort of a paddle.
- 59:06Speaker 1: As the saying goes, the math ain't methon at the stage.
- 59:09Speaker 3: Well, he's claimed second position. You can only tie now
- 59:12Speaker 3: Adam gets Oh, Adam will at three points? You actually continue?
- 59:15Speaker 3: What's the next week one?
- 59:15Speaker 1: That's right because I'm still give three points, and I'm
- 59:17Speaker 1: giving three points to let her dope.
- 59:20Speaker 3: That is not Adam Willhouse, that's Rach Beasley on Rach.
- 59:24Speaker 1: Rach has made a bit of a run.
- 59:26Speaker 3: She's on five points now. I think it's like three consecutive.
- 59:28Speaker 1: Times retail end of the season on your rage.
- 59:33Speaker 3: Three point to two Rach Beasley. So we've now got
- 59:36Speaker 3: Jared Hornby still on twenty five. Phil Hawkins now second
- 59:39Speaker 3: on seventeen points, so he's three points ahead a third
- 59:42Speaker 3: one episode left, which means he can only tie now
- 59:44Speaker 3: for third if Adam comes hard with her three point
- 59:46Speaker 3: of next week.
- 59:47Speaker 1: Come hard with the three point of next week, and
- 59:48Speaker 1: we'll see what happens. Keep coming hard, you'll be fine.

- 1:00:08Speaker 1: centric that I don't think either of us minded. Either
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: of us thought it was.

- 1:00:15Speaker 3: I think, I think I enjoy I just looked at
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: the description. I'm pretty sure this is a good episode. Normally,
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: the finales, they usually end with a good one.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, well I'm not going to look. I'm just
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: going to go in completely blind. Yes, okay, so impartial.
