- 3:23Speaker 6: No, thank you so much for joining us.
- 3:26Speaker 3: I truly appreciate you giving us this time and this
- 3:28Speaker 3: hour be able to share your sunshine with us. So, Keisha,
- 3:35Speaker 3: throughout your journey and the evolution of your identity, you
- 3:38Speaker 3: survived experiences that would have broken many. What moment made
- 3:42Speaker 3: you realize that you were still here for a reason.
- 3:48Speaker 5: It was the moment I looked in the mirror and
- 3:54Speaker 5: God spoke to me and he told me that I
- 3:59Speaker 5: was here for a reason. That that was the moment
- 4:03Speaker 5: I would say I was thirty nine and a half.
- 4:06Speaker 5: If I had the pinpoint of actual moment, and it
- 4:09Speaker 5: was when I was coming out of my abusive relationship.
- 4:15Speaker 4: That was that moment.
- 4:18Speaker 3: When he speaks. You know, everybody should listen. I'm not
- 4:21Speaker 3: sure if everybody listens, but I know I do. And
- 4:24Speaker 3: for you to be able to remember that exact date,
- 4:28Speaker 3: that had to be a pivot to date in your life.
- 4:31Speaker 3: So I am so happy for you in your journey
- 4:34Speaker 3: towards healing. How did domestic violence try to redefine you
- 4:38Speaker 3: and how did you ultimately redefine yourself.
- 4:43Speaker 5: Yeah, so I've always had a background of faith my mother,
- 4:48Speaker 5: you know, I was in church from a little girl,
- 4:51Speaker 5: and so I always had that inside of me, and
- 4:55Speaker 5: it was just getting back to it. You know, I
- 4:58Speaker 5: could pinpoint it because I got to a point in
- 5:01Speaker 5: my life when I was sick and tired of being
- 5:04Speaker 5: sick and tired and looking in that mirror and reminding
- 5:08Speaker 5: myself of who I was and whose I was, and
- 5:12Speaker 5: that's what it was. It was like I knew at
- 5:17Speaker 5: that point that I deserved better and that that wasn't
- 5:21Speaker 5: the life that I deserved, and that gave me the
- 5:25Speaker 5: power to then move out of it.
- 5:30Speaker 3: I love that you said that you had to look
- 5:33Speaker 3: to see who you were and who you were? Can
- 5:36Speaker 3: you explain to us when you say who you were?
- 5:39Speaker 3: I have an idea, but I just want to hear
- 5:41Speaker 3: you explain that to our viewers and I'll listening as
- 5:43Speaker 3: for as whose you were.
- 5:45Speaker 5: Yes, So, like I mentioned before, like I grew up
- 5:48Speaker 5: in the church and my mother she took us.
- 5:54Speaker 4: She didn't just send us, she took us.
- 5:56Speaker 5: My mother is a minister, and so it was always
- 5:59Speaker 5: intille inside of me.
- 6:01Speaker 4: I knew that God was my father.
- 6:04Speaker 5: I knew that Jesus died on the cross to save me,
- 6:07Speaker 5: to redeem me. And I knew that he loved me
- 6:10Speaker 5: so much that I was to die for And I
- 6:14Speaker 5: just you know, when they said hide his words in
- 6:17Speaker 5: your heart, and then I just had to call them
- 6:20Speaker 5: back to myself because.
- 6:22Speaker 4: I had a.
- 6:24Speaker 5: Even if if I didn't live by it, I just
- 6:29Speaker 5: always knew, and at the moment that I needed to
- 6:32Speaker 5: call on God.
- 6:35Speaker 4: He was there to hear my cry.
- 6:40Speaker 3: So when trauma tried to redefine you or to define you,
- 6:43Speaker 3: what did we claim in rediscovering your true identity?
- 6:48Speaker 6: Required?
- 6:50Speaker 5: It's a mindset. It is a mindset because the enemy
- 6:56Speaker 5: is forever and that's Satan. The devil is forever on
- 7:00Speaker 5: his job to still kill and destroy. And so, like
- 7:05Speaker 5: what the Word is like every day, you got to
- 7:07Speaker 5: renew your mind every single day, and so you have
- 7:11Speaker 5: to stay prayed up and you have to stop believing
- 7:16Speaker 5: the lies that Satan will try.
- 7:19Speaker 4: To Okay, is that me? I just it just blanked out.
- 7:27Speaker 6: You can keep going it Okay.
- 7:29Speaker 3: It happens like that every once in a while, and
- 7:31Speaker 3: a lot of times just the distance of the two
- 7:33Speaker 3: people and then it may be weather or it could
- 7:35Speaker 3: be a combination of things.
- 7:37Speaker 4: Okay, but you can still hear me, Yes, I can Okay. Yeah.
- 7:41Speaker 5: And so I just had to get back to the
- 7:45Speaker 5: Word and renewing my mind and believing the promises that
- 7:50Speaker 5: the Bible has always told me, and just making sure
- 7:56Speaker 5: that I knew the difference between God speaking to me
- 8:00Speaker 5: in Satan's speaking to me.
- 8:03Speaker 3: You mentioned a mindset. Do you think that the mindset
- 8:07Speaker 3: on the right mindset works for everyone? Or do you
- 8:10Speaker 3: have to be in the present in order for that
- 8:12Speaker 3: mindset to push you into the area that you feel
- 8:15Speaker 3: as though you're going to be in or the area
- 8:16Speaker 3: that God wants you to be in.
- 8:20Speaker 5: Yeah, I can't speak for anyone else, but I know
- 8:24Speaker 5: that the promises are available to everyone else.
- 8:28Speaker 4: And you know I'm not no.
- 8:30Speaker 5: Psychollegist or are psychiatrists. I know that people have different experiences
- 8:36Speaker 5: in their lives. Some people, you know, drugs or what
- 8:40Speaker 5: have you make people minds be in different frames. And
- 8:46Speaker 5: so I said, for the most part, a regular adult person,
- 8:52Speaker 5: if you think enough, if you in your right mind enough,
- 8:57Speaker 5: I think that it's available for the for whoever wants it.
- 9:02Speaker 5: I would say.
- 9:05Speaker 6: So faith and healing.
- 9:06Speaker 3: When you say desperation is a choice for healing is available,
- 9:11Speaker 3: What does choosing healing require in real everyday situations?
- 9:16Speaker 5: Uh? Yeah, when I say that, because I was making
- 9:19Speaker 5: choices based on emotions out of desperation, whether it was
- 9:26Speaker 5: like low self esteem or longing to be loved or
- 9:32Speaker 5: for whatever reason that didn't fit what I truly deserved.
- 9:39Speaker 5: So once my mind changed, once I healed, once I
- 9:43Speaker 5: got in the word of God more, and I decided
- 9:47Speaker 5: to make that choice like every day, does this that
- 9:51Speaker 5: I'm doing serves me or it doesn't serve me? Is
- 9:56Speaker 5: this putting my mind at peace or not at peace?
- 10:00Speaker 5: And I started making choices that was more beneficial for
- 10:04Speaker 5: my mental health, for my emotional health, and for my
- 10:08Speaker 5: well being all around. It was just that that simple
- 10:13Speaker 5: of A or B and being consistent with that.
- 10:19Speaker 3: So was it more of a change in lifestyle behavior
- 10:25Speaker 3: or just just the mindset or where you were at
- 10:28Speaker 3: at that time.
- 10:31Speaker 5: Well, I would say it's a combination of all of that,
- 10:35Speaker 5: because when I think back on when I left my
- 10:38Speaker 5: ex husband, when I looked in the mirror and I
- 10:41Speaker 5: was thirty nine years old and I was sick and
- 10:44Speaker 5: tired of being sick and tied, I knew that I
- 10:47Speaker 5: had to physically move from the physical location where we
- 10:51Speaker 5: were living together if I was going to continue the
- 10:55Speaker 5: trajectory of being whole and being healed.
- 10:58Speaker 4: So I had to go out.
- 11:00Speaker 5: And you know, we owned our house and all of that,
- 11:03Speaker 5: but I had to make that decision to walk away
- 11:06Speaker 5: from it because it was no longer serving my peace
- 11:10Speaker 5: and it was no longer serving me as an individual.
- 11:14Speaker 5: So I knew I had to make a choice to
- 11:16Speaker 5: leave that environment. So it's it's all of that. I
- 11:20Speaker 5: personally think you can't heal in the same place where
- 11:24Speaker 5: you actually was broken at.
- 11:26Speaker 4: I just that's me personally.
- 11:29Speaker 5: I like that.
- 11:30Speaker 6: I like that I.
- 11:34Speaker 3: See that you also survived a pulmonary embolism challenge, and
- 11:39Speaker 3: the challenge your faith. How did your faith ultimately carry
- 11:42Speaker 3: you through it? And this is with faith in healing.
- 11:47Speaker 5: Oh yeah, Oh my god, it's so good. Oh here's
- 11:50Speaker 5: so worthy to be praised. Every time I think about
- 11:53Speaker 5: that moment, it just brings tears to my eyes. I
- 11:57Speaker 5: had just had back surgery and I didn't know I
- 12:01Speaker 5: had a pulmonary embolism. And I got home and I fainted,
- 12:07Speaker 5: and then my fiance at the time he's my husband now,
- 12:12Speaker 5: and my daughter they were taking care of me, and
- 12:14Speaker 5: it was like, are you gonna just you know, rest,
- 12:16Speaker 5: maybe you'll feel better, And instantly, like you know, that
- 12:20Speaker 5: desernment that God gave me was like, no, get back
- 12:23Speaker 5: to the hospital, Like, fainting is not normal. So I
- 12:27Speaker 5: went back to the hospital and sure enough, when they
- 12:32Speaker 5: did the CT with the contrast, they uncovered it. But
- 12:37Speaker 5: I had like no symptoms other than I fainted, and
- 12:41Speaker 5: that desertment said go and get it checked out. And
- 12:43Speaker 5: it just elevated my faith because I know personally, like
- 12:47Speaker 5: two family members who have actually passed away from a
- 12:52Speaker 5: clot from pulmonary embolism, So in that moment of me
- 12:58Speaker 5: not resting but like really going to the hospital so
- 13:02Speaker 5: I can get treatment right away, that just catapulted my
- 13:05Speaker 5: faith like just so much further because I was like, Wow,
- 13:10Speaker 5: what a good God to help to let me faint
- 13:14Speaker 5: and not just really like go to sleep and not
- 13:17Speaker 5: wake up because of the two family members that I
- 13:21Speaker 5: know that passed away from Pomner emblism. So I was like, Wow, Lord,
- 13:25Speaker 5: thank you for saving me. And I know that I
- 13:29Speaker 5: have more purpose left in me and I have to
- 13:32Speaker 5: get my story out. I have to help other people
- 13:35Speaker 5: heal and just proclaim how good God is.
- 13:40Speaker 4: To the masses.
- 13:42Speaker 5: And if he did it for me, he can do
- 13:44Speaker 5: it for everybody else who have faith and who seek
- 13:47Speaker 5: Him and want to be healed.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Well, thank God for your daughter and your husband for
- 13:54Speaker 3: coming in there and just telling me to go to
- 13:57Speaker 3: the hospital and not just you know, just rest. So
- 14:01Speaker 3: I'm happy that you're still here, Amen, happy that they
- 14:04Speaker 3: was able to walk in that room. But what happens
- 14:06Speaker 3: to our identity when we stopped fighting control and choose
- 14:09Speaker 3: surrender instead?
- 14:15Speaker 4: What happens to our identity when.
- 14:18Speaker 6: We stopped fighting control and choose surrender instead?
- 14:21Speaker 3: Like in the case that you just mentioned, you could
- 14:24Speaker 3: have controlled that by just standing in bed and not
- 14:27Speaker 3: getting up and going any place. But you stop fighting
- 14:30Speaker 3: it and you chose surrendering instead. You're surrendered to me
- 14:34Speaker 3: from what you're telling me, was to go to that hospital.
- 14:38Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I always was gonna do that because I'm
- 14:41Speaker 5: a low key hypochondriac anyway, so I'm always gonna air
- 14:46Speaker 5: on the side of taking care of myself. It was
- 14:48Speaker 5: my my husband who was like, did I want to rest?
- 14:51Speaker 5: And I was like, no, you gonna take me in
- 14:54Speaker 5: because the desertment that the spirit gave me was like no,
- 14:58Speaker 5: just say normal to faint. And you know, I was
- 15:02Speaker 5: in the hospital for the past three days and like,
- 15:04Speaker 5: what's going on?
- 15:05Speaker 4: And I've had.
- 15:06Speaker 5: Surgery before, so this was something new, this faint like
- 15:09Speaker 5: really it was just didn't sit right in my spirit.
- 15:13Speaker 5: And my husband asked me if I wanted to just rest,
- 15:16Speaker 5: and I was like, oh no, which one of y'all
- 15:19Speaker 5: gonna take me in?
- 15:20Speaker 4: My daughter or you?
- 15:22Speaker 5: And so that's how I end up at the hospital.
- 15:24Speaker 5: And so, like I mentioned before, it's just like listening.
- 15:28Speaker 5: And then I actually talk about this in my book too,
- 15:31Speaker 5: about listening to that small voice, and so my whole
- 15:37Speaker 5: disposition is trying to stay connected to that little small
- 15:42Speaker 5: voice and having decernment and listening and moving accordingly. So
- 15:50Speaker 5: I would say that for anybody that's listening like that's
- 15:55Speaker 5: the beginning of where healing comes in, and every thing
- 16:00Speaker 5: is just listening to that voice and moving accordingly, letting
- 16:03Speaker 5: it guide you.
- 16:06Speaker 6: Your body. He tells you, come on, let's go.
- 16:09Speaker 3: We have to start listening to our body because it.
- 16:13Speaker 6: It knows what he's doing, it knows how it feels.
- 16:17Speaker 4: Amen.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Sometimes we may just say that, you know, I'm just
- 16:19Speaker 3: going to sit down for a minute, but your body
- 16:21Speaker 3: is saying get.
- 16:22Speaker 6: Up and go. Your leadership has purpose.
- 16:26Speaker 3: You have many hats or the leader coach, how do
- 16:30Speaker 3: you stay aligned with purpose?
- 16:34Speaker 5: Uh? You know, it's the Holy Spirit and it's just God.
- 16:39Speaker 5: And I'm just grateful that I'm able to live out
- 16:43Speaker 5: my purpose. You know, I'm just grateful that God is
- 16:47Speaker 5: guiding me and leading me, and that not everybody uncovers
- 16:52Speaker 5: what their purpose is in life.
- 16:53Speaker 4: And able to walk in it.
- 16:55Speaker 5: And so from early on, I just always have this
- 16:59Speaker 5: servant leadership model, even as a little girl, and I'm
- 17:05Speaker 5: just grateful that I'm able to fulfill it. And I
- 17:09Speaker 5: didn't realize that my whole, like my focus would be
- 17:14Speaker 5: on healing, that I would go through stuff that I
- 17:16Speaker 5: would have to survive to be able to heal and
- 17:21Speaker 5: help other people, even early on. You know from the
- 17:24Speaker 5: molest station, a lot of women have been through that.
- 17:27Speaker 5: And you know, I grew up in an area where
- 17:29Speaker 5: people didn't talk about anything, and you know, you had
- 17:32Speaker 5: to get out the room because grown folks were talking.
- 17:34Speaker 4: But you know a lot.
- 17:36Speaker 5: Of us suffered from childhood traumas because people didn't talk
- 17:42Speaker 5: about it. And so now I'm talking about it and
- 17:44Speaker 5: shouting it from the roof because if I healed, if
- 17:47Speaker 5: I survived, I can walk hole in my fifties. Everybody
- 17:52Speaker 5: else can too if they make that choice.
- 17:55Speaker 4: It's what I believe.
- 17:58Speaker 3: That statement, because not many people are up to talking
- 18:02Speaker 3: about it, and.
- 18:05Speaker 6: Some of them feel that they may have to just
- 18:07Speaker 6: tuck it away.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Many believe that people won't believe them, and some people
- 18:12Speaker 3: just not ready yet. They're just not ready yet to
- 18:15Speaker 3: face that this has happened to them and it's not
- 18:18Speaker 3: their fault. So a lot of people are carrying some
- 18:21Speaker 3: heavy heavy weight when it comes to situations like that.
- 18:26Speaker 3: How has navigated leadership with Labor Union strengthen your commitment
- 18:30Speaker 3: to empowering women in both personal and professional spaces.
- 18:39Speaker 5: I would say that, you know, relationships matter, and I
- 18:45Speaker 5: believe that God put people on our journeys for reasons, seasons, lessons,
- 18:51Speaker 5: and blessings. And I'm just grateful to have a career
- 18:55Speaker 5: where I come in contact with so many people that
- 18:59Speaker 5: I share with that I can help both professionally and personally.
- 19:05Speaker 5: And so in that preview of being a labor Union leader,
- 19:10Speaker 5: it affords me opportunities to just connect with people from
- 19:14Speaker 5: all different backgrounds, all different walks of life, and so
- 19:19Speaker 5: I just take great joy in like the relationships that
- 19:25Speaker 5: I build.
- 19:27Speaker 3: So you do a lot of transitioning, because I'm saying
- 19:30Speaker 3: you we own these hats. How do you transition from
- 19:33Speaker 3: leading out of a survival instinct to leading from homeness?
- 19:42Speaker 4: Okay, let me say I never even.
- 19:45Speaker 5: I never thought about it in those terms, because I
- 19:49Speaker 5: would say that my personality in the core of who
- 19:54Speaker 5: I am, have always been the same that leadership personality.
- 20:03Speaker 5: Even going through the abuse, I still never switched up
- 20:07Speaker 5: on people. I still was able to help people that
- 20:12Speaker 5: I needed help. Now I switched to like help people
- 20:17Speaker 5: more personally because I'm not afraid to talk about it,
- 20:20Speaker 5: Like I didn't talk about my abuse while I was
- 20:24Speaker 5: like going through it. So I'm able to help at
- 20:28Speaker 5: a different level now. But I've always been like the
- 20:32Speaker 5: same person with the same personality, the same like sunshine disposition.
- 20:38Speaker 4: It's just now I think I'm just.
- 20:39Speaker 5: More bolder and I actually engage with different people based
- 20:45Speaker 5: on what their healing needs are.
- 20:49Speaker 3: You did a lot of transformation, and you also are coaching.
- 20:53Speaker 3: When a woman says she's ready to heal, what is
- 20:57Speaker 3: the first intentional step you got her to take on
- 21:00Speaker 3: that journey.
- 21:04Speaker 5: Yeah, it's to be honest. That's the first thing. You
- 21:08Speaker 5: gotta be honest with yourself and with God and what
- 21:14Speaker 5: you really are trying to heal from. Like I've coached
- 21:19Speaker 5: and talked to so many women that are are are
- 21:23Speaker 5: They're not. You gotta be ready and you gotta want
- 21:25Speaker 5: it at the end of the day. And so my
- 21:27Speaker 5: first thing is about just being honest. That's the first thing.
- 21:30Speaker 5: You gotta be honest with yourself and with God and
- 21:33Speaker 5: making sure that you are ready. You gotta be ready.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Yeah, So how do you help women move from surviving
- 21:42Speaker 3: to thriving, whether they're ready or not. You know, some
- 21:46Speaker 3: will say that they're ready. I'm quite sure you can
- 21:49Speaker 3: tell that there's a little hesitance there. But how do
- 21:51Speaker 3: you help those women move from surviving to thriving?
- 21:56Speaker 5: Uh, it's a step, a process that you have to
- 22:00Speaker 5: go through. But if you're not honest and ready to
- 22:04Speaker 5: take the first step, then you won't get to to
- 22:07Speaker 5: be able to thrive. You gotta go in the steps.
- 22:11Speaker 5: You gotta make sure that you're honest with yourself, you
- 22:14Speaker 5: gotta make sure that you're honest with God, and then
- 22:18Speaker 5: you just have to, uh make sure at that point
- 22:24Speaker 5: that you're ready to put in the work and do
- 22:26Speaker 5: the work to get you to the thriving steps.
- 22:30Speaker 4: You just you just have to.
- 22:32Speaker 5: Like I do encounter women that say they want to heal,
- 22:36Speaker 5: I want to get out of those situations. I want
- 22:39Speaker 5: to do that. But unless you're willing to do the work,
- 22:42Speaker 5: then it's not going to manifest the thrive party. And
- 22:46Speaker 5: that's the unfortunate part of the situation, is that you
- 22:50Speaker 5: got to take the steps to get there.
- 22:54Speaker 6: Have you come across I'm going to say that.
- 22:59Speaker 3: Some people feel a little bit uncomfortable, But I'm going
- 23:01Speaker 3: to ask the question, have you come across any woman
- 23:05Speaker 3: or woman who felt as though that they were upset
- 23:11Speaker 3: with God because of what happened to them, or that
- 23:14Speaker 3: they blamed him for what has happened to him and
- 23:17Speaker 3: they didn't he didn't help them.
- 23:20Speaker 4: Oh yeah, more times than not.
- 23:22Speaker 5: I'm glad you asked that question, because you know, I
- 23:27Speaker 5: have to tell them that a lot of what we
- 23:29Speaker 5: go through, and then my coaching everything is faith based.
- 23:33Speaker 4: It's all biblical based.
- 23:37Speaker 5: And you know, I go back to Genesis in the
- 23:40Speaker 5: third chapter about the fallen Man when when guilt and
- 23:44Speaker 5: sin entered in and a lot of what we go through,
- 23:49Speaker 5: it's not our fault, but life is gonna life. And
- 23:52Speaker 5: I talk about when when God talked to Satan and
- 23:56Speaker 5: told Satan that he was going to put emathy between
- 23:59Speaker 5: him and the woman.
- 24:01Speaker 4: And you gotta think that Satan is our our ops.
- 24:05Speaker 5: Like he's hard, he hate women more than men, right,
- 24:11Speaker 5: And and that's what we're facing at the end of
- 24:13Speaker 5: the day. And he's gonna be on his job to
- 24:16Speaker 5: still kill and destroy. But even in the midst of
- 24:19Speaker 5: all of that, God was preparing to have a savior
- 24:23Speaker 5: that was gonna save us from all of that. But
- 24:26Speaker 5: you gotta want to you gotta want it, you gotta
- 24:31Speaker 5: believe it, and you gotta walk in it. And you
- 24:33Speaker 5: have to have faith and works because they go together.
- 24:36Speaker 5: That's the dynamic duo. You can't have one without the other.
- 24:41Speaker 5: And God said that he is a healer in Exodus.
- 24:46Speaker 5: He told us I am God who heal it thee
- 24:49Speaker 5: and so God is gonna heal us. Hell is mentioned
- 24:53Speaker 5: over one hundred times in the Bible. So you know,
- 24:56Speaker 5: life is not without pain, it's not without guilt, it
- 25:00Speaker 5: is not without the obstacles that comes with it. But
- 25:04Speaker 5: God has left us a plan to help us to
- 25:08Speaker 5: get through all of that.
- 25:11Speaker 3: You mentioned faith without works. They work together one over
- 25:15Speaker 3: the other. If you can expose one myth about healing
- 25:19Speaker 3: that holds women back, what would it be.
- 25:25Speaker 5: That that is actually possible. Healing is possible. A lot
- 25:31Speaker 5: of women don't believe that it is. A lot of
- 25:34Speaker 5: women believe that they are just stuck where they're asked,
- 25:39Speaker 5: that the situations.
- 25:40Speaker 4: They're in won't be better than what they are.
- 25:44Speaker 5: And that is a myth. That is such a myth.
- 25:49Speaker 5: There is always hope. You can change, you can transform
- 25:54Speaker 5: if you just believe.
- 25:58Speaker 3: In other words, they's still those are those? What about
- 26:02Speaker 3: those women who still who's having a hard time transitioning
- 26:08Speaker 3: and accepting that there's another way or a better way
- 26:12Speaker 3: for me, who feels as though they deserve whatever.
- 26:16Speaker 6: It is that was handed down to them. How do
- 26:18Speaker 6: you work with those type of women?
- 26:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm gonna be honest with you.
- 26:24Speaker 5: Uh yeah, some some women I can't work with.
- 26:29Speaker 4: You know, it's it's some people I I just can't
- 26:32Speaker 4: work with.
- 26:33Speaker 6: Uh.
- 26:34Speaker 4: And I can talk.
- 26:36Speaker 5: To them blue in the face, and you know, look
- 26:38Speaker 5: in my life, look what God brought me through. Here's
- 26:41Speaker 5: other examples of where women healed and uh yeah, it's
- 26:48Speaker 5: some women you can't heal. One of my best friends
- 26:51Speaker 5: I share this story.
- 26:54Speaker 4: One of my.
- 26:54Speaker 5: Best friends passed away last year due to alcoholism because
- 27:00Speaker 5: because she didn't find any other way out but through
- 27:05Speaker 5: the bottle, and it took her out.
- 27:07Speaker 4: And that hurt me to.
- 27:09Speaker 5: My heart because here I am, we're walking this journey together,
- 27:13Speaker 5: walking this life together, we're praying together. But at some
- 27:19Speaker 5: way she just was lost and couldn't find her way back,
- 27:22Speaker 5: and alcoholism took her off the earth. At forty four
- 27:26Speaker 5: years old. And so that's why I say, like someone
- 27:30Speaker 5: you can't help even my best friend, one of my
- 27:32Speaker 5: best friends, I couldn't help her. And we walked this
- 27:36Speaker 5: life together, this journey together.
- 27:38Speaker 4: She saw me heal and she.
- 27:41Speaker 5: Have hope or didn't have hope. I don't know, but
- 27:44Speaker 5: that kind of bothered me. When you ask that question,
- 27:47Speaker 5: it just made me think of her, and it was
- 27:50Speaker 5: nothing I could say to help her to stop drinking,
- 27:54Speaker 5: even though she would tell me I know, I know,
- 27:56Speaker 5: I know, she still still was lost, still didn't find
- 28:01Speaker 5: hope that she could be healed from what she was
- 28:05Speaker 5: going through.
- 28:06Speaker 3: I'm so sorry. I didn't need to bring it part
- 28:10Speaker 3: of your pain up again. It was just a question
- 28:13Speaker 3: that just had to be sitting on my mind and.
- 28:15Speaker 5: I just wanted to know that, oh yeah, yeah, no,
- 28:19Speaker 5: that's that's fine. Yeah, that's that's fine. And you know
- 28:22Speaker 5: I had to answer honestly because that that's what that's
- 28:27Speaker 5: the experience I went through.
- 28:30Speaker 6: Appreciate that.
- 28:31Speaker 3: I want to talk about your writing and ministry. How
- 28:34Speaker 3: is shareing testimony through storytelling minister to women who may
- 28:39Speaker 3: not yet have the words for their own.
- 28:41Speaker 5: Pain because it lets them know that they're not alone.
- 28:50Speaker 5: And so that's what one of the main purpose for
- 28:53Speaker 5: me putting it down, writing it in a book, sharing
- 28:57Speaker 5: it is for women to know that they are not alone.
- 29:03Speaker 5: And if I survived it and you can too, that
- 29:07Speaker 5: that was the basis of it when I when I
- 29:10Speaker 5: set out to write the book, I said, Lord, let
- 29:14Speaker 5: my words help somebody heal and if one person could
- 29:19Speaker 5: get healing from my words, then then my job is done.
- 29:25Speaker 5: And that's what what it was the intentions you to write.
- 29:31Speaker 3: They sent in books that blend spirituality and practicality together.
- 29:36Speaker 5: Absolutely, because I truly believe one hundred percent that that
- 29:42Speaker 5: God was the one who healed me and brought me
- 29:47Speaker 5: through those situations to.
- 29:50Speaker 4: Confirm to me that He is real.
- 29:54Speaker 5: And powerful and all I got to do is trust
- 29:58Speaker 5: in him.
- 30:01Speaker 6: Well, it sounds that he pulled you through.
- 30:03Speaker 3: What lasting impact do you hope your words leave on
- 30:07Speaker 3: a woman or women who is still in the middle
- 30:10Speaker 3: of her journey, her healing journal, her healing journey, and
- 30:14Speaker 3: sometimes they journal as well.
- 30:16Speaker 6: So what lasts the impact.
- 30:17Speaker 3: Do you hope your words leave on a woman who
- 30:19Speaker 3: is still in the middle of her healing journey.
- 30:23Speaker 4: That wholeness is available that healing is.
- 30:29Speaker 5: Sometimes it's like processes in cycles. Like sometimes people think,
- 30:34Speaker 5: oh I'm healed, and then that's it. But it's a
- 30:39Speaker 5: process that keeps going. And it's just like I pray
- 30:45Speaker 5: that my words help them to understand that even if
- 30:49Speaker 5: I'm going through this, I know that wholeness is available
- 30:52Speaker 5: and that I can continue to cycle of freeing myself
- 30:57Speaker 5: and becoming whole.
- 30:59Speaker 4: Through the experiences.
- 31:03Speaker 3: I want to talk about family legacy and balance and
- 31:07Speaker 3: what ways does your role as a white mother and
- 31:11Speaker 3: g mama influenced the legacy in your building? So here
- 31:14Speaker 3: the sun maybe in the back, so I'm quite sure
- 31:17Speaker 3: that that has an imprint in.
- 31:19Speaker 6: Your life in some way.
- 31:21Speaker 5: Yeah, that that that Actually he was born in twenty
- 31:29Speaker 5: twenty four and I actually published my first book in
- 31:32Speaker 5: twenty twenty four, and after his birth, that gave me
- 31:37Speaker 5: a little more fuel to just go ahead and be great,
- 31:43Speaker 5: Just publish the book, say yes to the speaking engagements,
- 31:50Speaker 5: and go and teach and help other women because it's
- 31:54Speaker 5: been on my heart since forever. And that actually gave
- 32:00Speaker 5: gave me the a little more courage to just do
- 32:04Speaker 5: it because I know that, Yeah, I was gonna say,
- 32:11Speaker 5: because I know that the work that I'm doing will
- 32:14Speaker 5: go on forever. You know, the published book will be
- 32:17Speaker 5: around forever. And so that is something that he can
- 32:23Speaker 5: look look forward to and the other generations and other
- 32:28Speaker 5: people in my bloodline could look forward to like I did.
- 32:32Speaker 4: I was able to to do this.
- 32:36Speaker 3: So is that what legacy means to you at this
- 32:38Speaker 3: stage in your life?
- 32:40Speaker 4: Uh?
- 32:41Speaker 5: It means yes, it means uh, leaving a march and
- 32:47Speaker 5: something that my future generations could look look up to
- 32:52Speaker 5: and be proud of that I changed somebody's life.
- 32:57Speaker 4: Legacy is like.
- 32:58Speaker 5: Change, making service, something positive.
- 33:06Speaker 3: So you pour so much into other people, how do
- 33:09Speaker 3: you protect your peace?
- 33:13Speaker 4: Prayer?
- 33:14Speaker 5: Prayer and knowing when to cut it off and staying
- 33:20Speaker 5: grounded myself?
- 33:24Speaker 3: Are there times that you feel as though that you
- 33:26Speaker 3: pour too much into other people and it just seems
- 33:28Speaker 3: to be getting them nowhere at all? That you just
- 33:32Speaker 3: keep pouring for It's almost like you're pouring and the
- 33:35Speaker 3: glasses half full. Will it ever be full enough for
- 33:39Speaker 3: what we're poured into them?
- 33:43Speaker 4: No?
- 33:43Speaker 5: Not at this stage in my life, because I know
- 33:46Speaker 5: when to cut it off now. I would say maybe
- 33:50Speaker 5: five years ago I would do that, and I'll be like, oh,
- 33:54Speaker 5: my god, I feel so dreamed.
- 33:55Speaker 4: I don't do that anymore. I know how to cut
- 33:59Speaker 4: it off.
- 34:00Speaker 5: Like I mentioned, like, it's some women I can't help
- 34:03Speaker 5: and I won't waste my time if they're not ready yet,
- 34:07Speaker 5: And so I know that now.
- 34:12Speaker 3: So to the women who feel trapped in desperation and
- 34:15Speaker 3: can't yet see their way out, what would you want
- 34:17Speaker 3: her to hear today.
- 34:21Speaker 5: That there's always a way out if you make the
- 34:25Speaker 5: choice to get out, if you really in your heart
- 34:31Speaker 5: want to there's always a way out.
- 34:36Speaker 4: You have to just see.
- 34:40Speaker 3: Have you ever had someone come to you and say, Okay,
- 34:42Speaker 3: that's fine.
- 34:43Speaker 6: For you, that was your way out, but it's different
- 34:46Speaker 6: for me.
- 34:50Speaker 5: I would I would say what out they wanted and
- 34:55Speaker 5: help them verbalize, like what what what's the out that
- 34:58Speaker 5: you want? Is it that you're trying to move away
- 35:01Speaker 5: from something or you trying to like get out of
- 35:04Speaker 5: a relationship. What's the out that you need? And then
- 35:07Speaker 5: we make a plan around that. You know, if it's
- 35:10Speaker 5: like housing, we gotta go look at If it's like
- 35:13Speaker 5: you're trying to get the law involved, it just depends
- 35:17Speaker 5: on it's an individual situation. What does the out look
- 35:22Speaker 5: like for them? And talking it out, writing it out,
- 35:25Speaker 5: and making a plan around it, because you're right, my
- 35:29Speaker 5: situation is it may be different, But I knew that
- 35:33Speaker 5: I couldn't stay in that house and heal with the abuser.
- 35:38Speaker 5: So I knew that I had to find a place
- 35:41Speaker 5: to stay. So it took me about two months to
- 35:44Speaker 5: drive around Los Angeles looking for a place to rent.
- 35:47Speaker 5: But I knew that I had to do that in
- 35:50Speaker 5: order for me, I had to do that, And it
- 35:52Speaker 5: took a couple months to find a place, but I
- 35:54Speaker 5: knew that a part of my plan was to look
- 35:57Speaker 5: for a place. So if that's the situation somebody is in,
- 36:02Speaker 5: then I would help them with the plan and thinking
- 36:06Speaker 5: about it. If it's like can you go move in
- 36:08Speaker 5: with a family member, if it's someplace that you gotta leave,
- 36:11Speaker 5: or sometimes like if it's like walking away from a relationship,
- 36:15Speaker 5: it's like you know the red flags, you know if
- 36:19Speaker 5: this person is good for you, this person is not.
- 36:21Speaker 4: Sometimes it may be like.
- 36:23Speaker 5: Stop calling them, stop looking at their social media, all
- 36:28Speaker 5: different types of ways out. You just got to talk
- 36:31Speaker 5: it through and make the plan and follow through the plan.
- 36:35Speaker 3: Some women have unfortunately exhausted their family members, loved ones,
- 36:41Speaker 3: to where because they have been through this abuse for
- 36:44Speaker 3: such a long period of time, they're disconnected. And many
- 36:49Speaker 3: times they're disconnected because of their abuser. How do you
- 36:53Speaker 3: reconnect them with their family once they did get out.
- 37:00Speaker 5: Yeah, I believe that love covers a multitude of sin.
- 37:04Speaker 5: And a lot of times family members do give up
- 37:07Speaker 5: on you because they've seen it before. Right, Oh, you're
- 37:10Speaker 5: not serious, you're not ready. But if they see that
- 37:14Speaker 5: you've done something about it and you're you're no longer
- 37:18Speaker 5: like attached to that situation. Sometimes it's a matter of
- 37:23Speaker 5: just having a conversations. I always advise my my clients
- 37:28Speaker 5: to like write I was like, Okay, maybe you can't
- 37:31Speaker 5: verbally talk to somebody right now, but maybe just sit
- 37:34Speaker 5: down and write them a letter, and then maybe that
- 37:37Speaker 5: may be able to bridge the gap between what was
- 37:40Speaker 5: lost to write a letter.
- 37:42Speaker 4: But people got to see change. Though.
- 37:43Speaker 5: You can't try to reconnect with people if they still
- 37:47Speaker 5: see the same same things, the same habits. Most people move.
- 37:52Speaker 5: If they see change and they see that you're ready
- 37:55Speaker 5: and that you're serious that I believe love covers and
- 37:59Speaker 5: if they try really cover you, truly support you, then
- 38:04Speaker 5: it may take time, but you're on the right path.
- 38:10Speaker 3: So as you continue this work of healing and empowerment,
- 38:13Speaker 3: what's next and how can those who were inspired today
- 38:17Speaker 3: stay connected with you? I know you have to have
- 38:21Speaker 3: something coming up because you just seem to be so
- 38:23Speaker 3: busy and I'm always seeing you on social media.
- 38:26Speaker 6: I don't know how you find the time.
- 38:29Speaker 4: Guy, it's so good. Let me tell you. So what's
- 38:32Speaker 4: next for me?
- 38:33Speaker 5: I do have a couple other books in the works
- 38:37Speaker 5: that's coming out. I have a couple other speaking engagements, and.
- 38:44Speaker 4: I'm just letting God.
- 38:45Speaker 5: Use me however he so chooses. Like you said, I'm
- 38:49Speaker 5: on social media. I'm mostly I'm mostly on Facebook sunshine Pace,
- 38:54Speaker 5: but I do have a TikTok and an Instagram and
- 38:57Speaker 5: then my email is key Shia sunshine Pace at gmail
- 39:04Speaker 5: dot com.
- 39:06Speaker 6: Okay, all right, so thank you so much, Keisha.
- 39:10Speaker 4: Oh thank you for having me.
- 39:12Speaker 5: I hate that you couldn't see my face, though I
- 39:15Speaker 5: don't know what that's okay.
- 39:17Speaker 3: I got your picture, so I'm not worried about seeing
- 39:19Speaker 3: your face. It's beautiful anyway, but it's okay.
- 39:23Speaker 4: It's okay.
- 39:23Speaker 3: And if anybody else want to see who you are
- 39:25Speaker 3: and came in a little late. She just gave you
- 39:28Speaker 3: her social media information. You can connect with her that way,
- 39:31Speaker 3: and you can also see her face that way.
- 39:33Speaker 6: I know she'll get back to you. Yes, I want
- 39:36Speaker 6: to thank Keisha.
- 39:37Speaker 3: For joining us tonight, reminding us that healing is not
- 39:40Speaker 3: just possible, it's her story, her faith, and her truth
- 39:44Speaker 3: of proof that survival doesn't have to be the final chapter.
- 39:48Speaker 3: So be sure to connect with Keisha, explore her books,
- 39:51Speaker 3: and continue the work of healing, growth and abundance, and listen.
- 39:55Speaker 3: Don't go anywhere. Next week, well the phone week, I'll
- 39:59Speaker 3: be you. Gina Gatson, she is the founder of the
- 40:02Speaker 3: Distinguished Author's Guild Awards that's called DAG As we talk
- 40:07Speaker 3: about visibility, authorship and what it really means to an
- 40:10Speaker 3: an excellentenis storytelling. So you already know this is basic
- 40:15Speaker 3: Black after Dark, and thanks for keeping it basic
