This Sunday marked 25 years of joy at the Maisie DeVore Community Pool — a dream she fought for with relentless passion. For nearly 30 years, Maisie raised $100,000 by selling jams, jellies, afghans, cinnamon rolls, and crushing cans — even at Lake Wabaunsee — before a grant finished the project. The pool opened in 2001 right across from her home, letting her watch kids splash and laugh from her garage.
