- 0:29So what is meant by, you know, education for all and what is
- 0:32that term really about when you're thinking about autism and
- 0:34the revolution that we've had with autism and education?
- 0:37Let's have a discussion guys. Welcome back to the Aspy world.
- 0:40My name is Dan and I have autism and ADHD and I make weekly
- 0:43videos all about this. So if you want to come along
- 0:44with journey with me to help empower, educate and really get
- 0:47autistic individuals up to the highest levels of their possible
- 0:50opportunities, then make sure to hit the subscribe button down
- 0:52below and also follow me on the social media platforms For more
- 0:56information on autism that I do daily.
- 0:58OK, so so you know, let's go back in time a little bit.
- 1:01When I was in high school or when I was in primary school or
- 1:04preschool for all of you guys, there was not much in terms of
- 1:07autism support. This meant that me and any other
- 1:10autistic individual were left out of most of the curriculum,
- 1:14which means there was nothing there to accommodate it.
- 1:16There was a massive chunks of my education that was just missing
- 1:19because there was nobody there who knew how to deal with me.
- 1:21They didn't know my learning type.
- 1:23This is happening daily. I know, for instance, I was part
- 1:26of a, an ALN reform for schools here in the UK.
- 1:30And I, I published a, a video on, on Instagram asking people
- 1:33to sign up a petition to get the government to actually act on
- 1:35this. And we're still having issues to
- 1:37this day on it. And it's 2023.
- 1:39But when you think about, you know, the 1980s and 1990s when I
- 1:43was really little in school, those things were kind of cover
- 1:46practice where they didn't really know what to do with you.
- 1:48So they lump you into a category of being, you know, the, the
- 1:51unit kids. And then we'd sit and just do
- 1:54nothing really. And that was really important
- 1:56for me, an important time for everybody to kind of really get
- 1:59to grips with a lot of skills and early intervention.
- 2:02This is why a lot of the time we look at autism diagnosis and say
- 2:05hey, autism diagnosis should be implemented early as possible
- 2:09because then we can have intervention early and help them
- 2:12achieve the best success as possible.
- 2:14I just want to interrupt this video guys to say thank you to
- 2:16today's video sponsor Brilia. Now Brilia is a homeopathic
- 2:20medication which is pretty excellent for autism and ADHD.
- 2:24Now I take this because it helps me with concentration.
- 2:26I'm feeling less anxious but it also works to help with
- 2:28restlessness, irritability and impulsivity and helps you in
- 2:32increase clarity and concentration.
- 2:34Now Brilia is a non subscription based medication.
- 2:37It also comes for adults and children, so you can check that
- 2:40out as well. Now it's stupid natural.
- 2:42There's no like nasties in it and there's nothing addictive in
- 2:44it, but I would say to recommend checking out with your doctor
- 2:46first before taking any medication just to make sure
- 2:48it's cool with you. But you can get it right now at
- 2:5115% off using the code ASPY 15. The link is in my description
- 2:55here now or in my biofuel go and try and find it, but it's
- 2:58brilliant and the link for that will be down below.
- 3:01OK guys back to the video. But when you think about it on
- 3:04the bigger picture, you have people coming out of school, out
- 3:07of schooling with no support and no help for special educational
- 3:11needs. Now all that is changing.
- 3:13Over the past 15 years, we've seen a massive increase in the
- 3:16amount of funding that's going to be available in Wales,
- 3:19England and across the world really for autism and education,
- 3:23because the stats are quite high.
- 3:25You have one in 100 people in the UK diagnosed autism.
- 3:29We have one in 33 in the United States diagnosed to autism.
- 3:31So there's a lot of children going through a system that
- 3:34really needs to protect and serve for these kids.
- 3:35Now there is an educational revolution going on here or the
- 3:38autism revolution where the education system is taking it
- 3:42seriously. They are training their staff
- 3:43appropriately and and they are able to have staff who can
- 3:47accommodate autistic individuals in mainstream schools.
- 3:50Because up until I'd say about 10 years ago, most it's not all
- 3:55children with additional needs would have to go to an
- 3:57additional needs school because that's where the specialists and
- 3:59the people who are trained in that would have resided.
- 4:02But unfortunately, when you have a growing population and a a
- 4:07stagnant number of schools for special educational needs, then
- 4:10you have to branch out into your typical schools and your
- 4:13mainstream kind of education and seen how can we educate the
- 4:16staff in these areas now? It has been a long, you know,
- 4:20hog, but they're actually getting there.
- 4:21And it's becoming so much more understood now in schools.
- 4:25And it's all the work all the advocates are doing and all the
- 4:27people who are taking legal action through the government to
- 4:30make sure that this training is is importantly implemented.
- 4:33I think it's absolutely fantastic.
- 4:34Now, there's so many things that you can do now.
- 4:36I would definitely check out your local educational board and
- 4:38see what facilities they have for autism.
- 4:40And if they have very little, you could always suggest them or
- 4:42get a group together and suggest them because this is vitally
- 4:45important, especially if your child or you are going to attend
- 4:48a school or a governing body that is kind of lacking in the
- 4:52areas of support for autistic individuals.
- 4:53There is funding available from pretty much all governments.
- 4:56So make sure you attach a letter to that and try and find the
- 5:00funding source to reference when you're doing that.
- 5:02Now guys, if you have something to add to this video, pop it a
- 5:04comment down below. I love reading every single
- 5:06comment gives video thumbs up and share it if you think this
- 5:08is valuable for somebody. I'll see you in the next video
- 5:10guys, peace.
