Philadelphia’s Parking Authority is expanding its smart loading zones from 22 to 52 blocks in Center City, using cameras to track parking time and ensure spots are used for loading only. Drivers must sign up via CurbPass and pay 10 cents per minute for up to an hour. Since launch last May, traffic speeds on Chestnut and Walnut Streets have improved, and delivery trucks are using designated zones twice as often — cutting double-parking and lane blockages.
