- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello there, welcome to empower your soul with Nicole.
- 0:04Speaker 1: I am excited today to do another spirit led podcast, and this is all about the next steps.
- 0:09Speaker 1: I want to talk about you.
- 0:12Speaker 1: We're all in the middle of a lot of things, right.
- 0:14Speaker 1: We are in a post COVID world.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Things are freaking crazy, things are busier than ever, everything is asking for our time and attention and there are never, ever enough hours in the day.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Not necessarily going to be the most spiritual podcast, but this is going to be spirit led guidance for those of us that are living a very busy life and it's very difficult to prioritize the activities that we have on our to do list.
- 0:39Speaker 1: And this is a loaded, loaded topic, right.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I personally really, really struggle with my massive to-do list because if you, if you ask me, um what I'm doing and just a little bit insight into my world, so right now, I went back to consulting for a little bit um, just to give me a little bit more time and flexibility, building my business with the right energy, and I'm realizing how important that is.
- 1:04Speaker 1: So if those of you have the opportunity to do this, I would highly recommend it.
- 1:07Speaker 1: The most important part is I got out of the corporate world.
- 1:09Speaker 1: So now I'm back to working on my own terms, which I freaking love.
- 1:12Speaker 1: But besides that, I'm trying to essentially like stand up my business with better structure, so it's less stress, less of a daily hustle for me to constantly post on social media etc.
- 1:26Speaker 1: So there's a lot going on there other than, obviously, those two things which take up a lot of my time.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I am still, obviously, making podcasts, doing social media content for my business, trying to do events, trying to do private readings with people, right, and that's all great.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Besides that, I am trying to still cook dinner for my kids every night, right, getting them on and off the bus every single day, helping them with homework, um, driving them to practices, because I am coaching soccer and softball this fall and each of the kids are on two different teams, so you're talking about four different sports activities minimum every week.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I am.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I am in sports or coaching or at at the fields, five out of six days.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Five, five days, six days a week.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Right now.
- 2:10Speaker 1: It's a lot.
- 2:11Speaker 1: And I'm getting messages, for I love the messages from people, I do.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I like comments on my social media, I'm getting texts from friends and it's just it's kind of like it's coming from everywhere, right, and like birthdays coming up, anniversaries coming up, holidays are coming up, my to do list is literally bigger than probably the room that I'm sitting in, and it's just I don't know how to prioritize all this stuff and I feel like spirit, forcefully, is going to give me too much to do, so that I start prioritizing my time better, because what's happening, as all of these things are getting added to my plate, and I'm sure you're in the same boat I'm recording this and it's one o'clock.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I haven't eaten yet today.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Right, I'm prioritizing work over my own personal food.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I have an exercise today.
- 3:06Speaker 1: I have not cleaned out my chicken coop today.
- 3:08Speaker 1: That needs to get done as well, right?
- 3:10Speaker 1: So I'm literally putting myself last and not taking care of the bottom of what.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Is it?
- 3:19Speaker 1: Maslow's hierarchy of needs?
- 3:22Speaker 1: You know what I'm talking about.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I probably screwed up Every time I talk.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I screw up words on this podcast.
- 3:25Speaker 1: That's fine, um, but I'm not feeding myself.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Well, definitely haven't had enough water.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Definitely had too much coffee.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Um, did not get enough sleep last night.
- 3:35Speaker 1: That was not my fault.
- 3:36Speaker 1: My son was up all night and not exercising, which I know immensely helps me.
- 3:42Speaker 1: And, by the way, today it is going to be a gorgeous 70 degrees up here in New England.
- 3:48Speaker 1: The sun is shining.
- 3:49Speaker 1: I am sitting in my office with a blanket on my lap and all my windows closed, so like I'm literally out of my mind right now.
- 3:57Speaker 1: So this is like a timeout, reset opportunity for all of us to figure out how to handle all of the things that are coming from every single direction, so that we aren't so bumped and bruised at the end of the day that we can't take care of our own selves or focus on the things that are most important to us.
- 4:17Speaker 1: And that, I think, is just such a key thing is that if you don't set your order of priorities first, they will happen to you.
- 4:28Speaker 1: And when I say that there's an amazing YouTube video, I don't know what it's called or how to search for it.
- 4:34Speaker 1: I saw this a very, very long time ago.
- 4:36Speaker 1: But they have a big glass jug right.
- 4:38Speaker 1: It's giant glass jug and they have obviously, like, things of different sizes right, and each of the thing represents a different thing in your life.
- 4:46Speaker 1: So if you don't pick man, I'm gonna have to link it.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I'm gonna see if I can link it in the show notes.
- 4:51Speaker 1: But if you start with, like, the little things, the little interruptions day to day, that is going to take up your entire time and you don't have any time left for the things that are most important to you, and I'm literally living that today, right now.
- 5:02Speaker 1: So instead, you almost have to flip the switch and take the perspective of identifying how you want to spend your time first and then fill in the gaps with the stuff that comes along the way, and what that means is shit's going to get dropped right, like I am not going to comment or reply on every single social media post that's out there, and sorry, I love you all.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I do read them all eventually.
- 5:30Speaker 1: I might take me a few days or a week, but I don't.
- 5:33Speaker 1: But I don't have time every single day to read your comments.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I don't.
- 5:37Speaker 1: I am truly sorry.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I wish there were more hours into the day to do that, but I need to make sure I'm spending my time the right way so that I'm getting the most out of my day.
- 5:47Speaker 1: So what that looks like for me is I need to start changing my calendar around so that I focus on working out, so that I'm focused on eating right, so that I go to bed at a reasonable time and I'm not working till midnight trying to do my side hustle because I don't have enough hours in the day.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Right, and what that means is I need to put my phone down, not scroll on social media.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Right, and it sounds easy enough to do.
- 6:11Speaker 1: But it starts with this basic concepts and like structuring the day and not going so free flowing energy throughout the day.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Because when I free flow, it's the opposite of what I should be doing.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Because when I'm not planning, when I'm not present in the moment, when I'm not consciously making the decision on how to best use my time, the things that don't, that are crap, end up filling up my time.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Like the things that don't add value, that are just time sucks because I'm so overwhelmed, end up taking the lead because mentally, that's all I can handle when I can't plan ahead.
- 6:50Speaker 1: So, boohoo, cry me a river, nicole, what?
- 6:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I know it's like time to stop complaining.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Stop complaining, stop complaining.
- 6:59Speaker 1: All right, I'm saying that to me, not to you.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Stop complaining.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Life is not this hard.
- 7:04Speaker 1: So it's a.
- 7:05Speaker 1: It and it like spirit is in my ear telling me this is a really easy fix, like you, so it's a and it, like spirit, is in my ear telling me this is a really easy fix.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Like you, all of us think that that's this huge burden, that you need to do everything and be everything for everybody and put the maximum amount of time in for absolutely everything that we do.
- 7:21Speaker 1: But we don't right.
- 7:22Speaker 1: But we don't, because people always want our time and our energy.
- 7:26Speaker 1: But we get to choose.
- 7:27Speaker 1: We get to choose how we want to spend that time and energy.
- 7:29Speaker 1: So let's reset it for you, right.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Like, if you have a pen and paper, let's do it right.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Write down what are the most important things in your day, and it needs to absolutely have eating, drinking I'm going to say water, you can write wine, that I'm not going to judge you.
- 7:49Speaker 1: In fact, could you invite me to that happy hour?
- 7:51Speaker 1: That would be great.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Exercising Time with family Time for you, like, these need to be non-negotiables that you build into your day, and what I highly suggest you do is schedule those non-negotiable scheduled time for these things.
- 8:13Speaker 1: So I am a stickler at my work and I always have been that like, after four o'clock I'm done, I will not be putting my corporate job on.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I've always been like this four o'clock on is kid time, family time, and if I ever needed to work, I worked, worked after they went to bed, but I made sure, like when they got off the bus to when they go to bed, this is my time with my family.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Um, I need to get back to that and I know that.
- 8:39Speaker 1: So, now that we have those in right, look at the rest of the to-dos on your list.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Look at them, um, write them down and then figure out what's the right order of these things.
- 8:53Speaker 1: And you're going to, naturally, just by writing down your to do's, you're going to figure out, like, what do I need to do now?
- 9:00Speaker 1: Like, what's important?
- 9:01Speaker 1: And this is, I think, my, my new business coach.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Oh, my god, I love her so much.
- 9:05Speaker 1: She kind of called it the rule of 10.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Right, what's going to be important?
- 9:09Speaker 1: Take each of those things on your to do list and write down next to them.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Is this going to be important 10 minutes from now, 10 hours from now, 10 days from now, 10 weeks from now, 10 years from now?
- 9:23Speaker 1: There's probably another 10 in between, but you know what I'm saying.
- 9:25Speaker 1: But, like, write it down, because what's the most important thing is the things that you need to address, like right now.
- 9:33Speaker 1: So like if I need to cook dinner, that's going to be yeah, that's going to matter in 10 minutes or or 10 hours, because if I don't do that, there are people that are they're going to starve.
- 9:42Speaker 1: They're going to starve, so that's next on my list, right?
- 9:44Speaker 1: So what's, um, the rule of 10, I think she called it.
- 9:48Speaker 1: So start writing those right like minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years.
- 9:57Speaker 1: If that's what it is, sorry, it's the.
- 9:59Speaker 1: That's the timeframe, right, it's your typical like date.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not going to say it again because I just listed all and I'll butcher it the second time.
- 10:07Speaker 1: So write down those durations next to each of your activities and then within those you almost have to.
- 10:14Speaker 1: So if you do this exercise and you get everything needs to be done within 10 days, you're going to have to take those and prioritize those and literally schedule those in right Like schedule working time for you to get this shit done every day too.
- 10:26Speaker 1: So make sure that's in there in your calendar too.
- 10:29Speaker 1: So once you figure out like that big list and you've prioritized what's now, what's in the near future, what's in the I don't know mid future, what's in the distant future, what can be held out for a little while.
- 10:40Speaker 1: This is how you need to tackle your life.
- 10:44Speaker 1: So, every time something that pops up in the middle of your day that you're like, oh shit, I got to go do that.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Is it going to be important 10 minutes from now, 10 hours from now, 10 days from now, right, like that's how you?
- 10:57Speaker 1: And if it's not, if it's 10 days from now and it's popping up, do you need to do it now or can you add it to your list and schedule that in a couple days?
- 11:06Speaker 1: Just a thought just challenge yourself because you need to live, live more in the present moment.
- 11:11Speaker 1: You need to live more in the here and now, and and the more that you focus on activities and like put your head down and get it done, the less that is going to be on your list and the less stressed you're going to get.
- 11:23Speaker 1: So you need to be like honed in, focused on crossing this shit off your list so that you're less stressed, so you make space for more things that are to come, because spirit always sends new things.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Life never stops, right.
- 11:36Speaker 1: So you need to start getting these things done so you can cross them off your list and so that you can keep going and continuing on your journey and being your best self, because what you do not want to happen is, right now, you having the same to do list as you will when, when it turns 2025.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Right, right, you don't.
- 11:54Speaker 1: You don't want the same to do's on your list, do you?
- 11:57Speaker 1: Do?
- 11:57Speaker 1: You still want to, like, go and I don't know?
- 12:00Speaker 1: Talk to your accountant, right, like, do you want to solve that now?
- 12:06Speaker 1: Right, like, you want to solve that now.
- 12:08Speaker 1: So, again, progress, people, progress.
- 12:12Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying.
- 12:13Speaker 1: So, again, not the most spiritual episode, but this is something that I'm personally going through right now, and using the guidance to really hone in on the prioritization of things that need to get done is really important to our, like, day-to-day health, our day-to-day.
- 12:31Speaker 1: How do we feel, what kind of energy do we have?
- 12:34Speaker 1: And ultimately, you know, for us intuitive professionals, that impacts our energy.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Right, if you have a million and one things to do and you can't stop to think or, sorry, you can't stop thinking about all those different things, that's gonna change the energy that you show up to your clients.
- 12:51Speaker 1: For business owners, that's going to change the way you show up to your business every single day.
- 12:56Speaker 1: If everything's a fire drill, then nothing's a fire drill.
- 12:59Speaker 1: You get my drift Like you can't.
- 13:04Speaker 1: You can't live in constant fight or flight mode.
- 13:06Speaker 1: It doesn't work.
- 13:07Speaker 1: It's too stressful.
- 13:08Speaker 1: You got to enjoy life too.
- 13:10Speaker 1: You know that right.
- 13:11Speaker 1: So part of that day, again, building the time for fun, building the time for joy, and if there's shit on your list that you don't want to do, do you have to do it.
- 13:21Speaker 1: I'm just going to toss it out there.
- 13:22Speaker 1: You know, just going to toss it out there.
- 13:24Speaker 1: So I hope this was helpful.
- 13:25Speaker 1: I'm just going to tap in and see if there's anything else from spirit.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Nope, they're saying good to go.
- 13:31Speaker 1: So, yeah, take a take a look at your to-do list.
- 13:34Speaker 1: What can you start knocking off?
- 13:36Speaker 1: Um, and getting done so that you feel better and brighter, and, um, having a more I'm going to say predictable, joyful, fun day and accomplished day, cause that makes us feel good too.
- 13:51Speaker 1: That's all I have for today.
- 13:52Speaker 1: I am going to go eat, probably clean out my chicken coop and get my shit done and hold myself accountable.
- 13:59Speaker 1: All right, take care of everybody.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Have a good one.
