- 0:00I was fat for a very long time all of my life since I was 8 9 10 years old I started putting it on then and I went through I had a 65 inch waist which is 65 yeah almost double what it is today 34 36 but it depends on day of week but if you understand that if you have been fat all of your life and you have wanted to try to get it off you find out over time there are a lot of stumbling blocks a lot of mental things mental hurdles um they would call these obstructions speed bumps things in your way and obstacles if if we're gonna talk about Ryan holidays book the thing is a big thing that I held on to lots of things but one of the biggest was the fat but then were um justifications why maybe I don't want to restrict calories because I'm scared I'm gonna lose muscle or why I don't wanna fast because if I fast I'm gonna slow down my metabolism and hurt myself or I don't wanna lose anything I've worked for not that I was an avid weightlifter for all this time I had many times where I wasn't touching weights for months if not years but I always seem to gravitate back to some semblance of trying to be a fat guy lifting weights I was already big cause I was 365 pounds and 6 foot one so just that physical size earned a partiality partial respect I guess and that carried a lot with me but it didn't help me think that I was so out of whack that I really needed to change it while the physical pain that was what became insurmountable so if you're before physical pain and you think that you trying to to get thinner as you probably have hundreds of times I didn't start until I got into my 50s fat up until that time I had periods of less fat but I was still very fat I remember going on an appointment for real estate when I was at my fattest a couple called wanting to sell their house I guess it was in Canyon country so I didn't have any pants I you know I people I was a police officer with so there was no there was no impressing they just knew who I was so I could show up as obese as I was it wasn't a problem these were strangers and I remember going I wasn't mentally been found on my here's here's part of the but my dad he's dead died a long time ago but you know I still often think about some of the stuff that he used to do and he he was fat he hadn't been fat all his life he had the adult onset fat when he got got pictures maybe 40s 42 43 that's when dad started getting fat and that being the case I remember watching well the reminiscing about moments when he would see very very fat people I mean not further than he was really cause he had a massive gut but he would make fun of them and it kind of struck me as odd I guess even then here he and I are fat but he's making fun of fat people and it it didn't make sense it still doesn't make sense but that was him and his obesity adult onset and then contracting diabetes then having a leg whacked off below the knee which is interestingly ironic because his dad had the same leg locked off back in the day again from what he seems to remember he was very small but was probably diabetes as well a sugar issue and you know you have that there's new it's no longer fast absorbing and slow absorbing maybe you've heard this you know it's a good carb it's a bad carb carbs your body treats them as sugar from what I understand and an over abundance of no matter what type of carb pushes that your blood sugar higher insulin levels higher to have to deal with the blood sugar the more out of whack your body is the more insulin your pancreas has to secrete to deal with that over abundance and if your body is really out of whack then it's gonna need more insulin to be able to take care of that sugar the blood because you done burned it out over time you ate so much of the confectionaries the sugary treats the carbohydrates hell you could probably get it done with just eating apples the skin huh maybe apples with the skin but you would have to eat you would have to eat such a high volume to be able to push that what I'm saying is this it doesn't take a lot and we're all only one cigarette away from lung cancer I just don't know what cigarette that is maybe it'll take 20,000 to get there maybe in some people it'll just take five maybe in some people second hand smoke is enough to kick that one off I look at I look at and my transformation like it's something that had to happen but the the whole process was so different than I thought it would be I had failed many many times I I say this often in videos I don't know why this time worked except for something really simple I just want to give it so much more credit like well it worked because I found my higher power and I was able to establish this relationship with them I don't know why it worked except consistency seemed to be the thing and the difference was instead of me freaking out because I just screwed up again for the umpteenth bazillionth time I messed this up where I really wanted to try to get less fat and keep going with less fat I wasn't I didn't want to be less fat for a month or a week or a day I wanted to be less fat over time so seven and a half months I dropped well over 130 pounds and was some of it muscle sure I I couldn't tell you it wasn't however I feel pretty good today and I have realized that this fat loss thing is really a journey as well how you do it is how you're going to do it consistency forgiving yourself moving on and if you do end up at a drive through at 2 a m that happens to be open 24 hours a day with other sad souls that are looking to get some kind of fix if you do go down the road and that's what you do and you break your routine the thing that should be your routine for life see these little parts that come in where I'm gonna somebody offers me something that seems to be so wonderful right on my alley my favorite thing whatever that may be most of the time I make a comment I've had that before well yes but you haven't had it from this place or you haven't had the one I made I understand that but I've had something similar depending on who it is I'm not gonna derail I'm not gonna put on pause my process they're gonna have to be pretty high in my world and enough so I'm willing to sacrifice myself cause even though I'm on this kick how far am I away from type 2 diabetes and what I'm gonna eat how far am I away from some other life threatening disease as a result of a dietary a dietary sacrifice so be careful with that if somebody's offering you something wonderful maybe you have had it before maybe you've had something very similar before that time will pass that person is not gonna be there trying to shove it down your throat you'll have a few moments of maybe depending on who it is being uncomfortable but then you get to move on and then the episode's over and that's a lot like hunger people say well I can't be hungry I get angry well I think we all do we all hate being hungry I don't like the feeling I mean my God that's why we were engineered to feel hungry instead of engineered to just be like whatever in fact having delivered alarms set throughout the day to eat could you imagine that because if you don't have an alarm set you're not gonna remember because you have zero desire and you have no hunger hormones wow what a world that would be but that's not the case we miss a meal we get hungry we eat a certain type of food that's laid with carbohydrates it doesn't help the hunger you can eat a lot of that and still keep eating how can you have if you eat a particular type of meal you won't even want dessert because it's gonna the meal itself is going to be so lacking of sugar and carbohydrates it really doesn't kick off into that sweet area but if what you're eating is empty processed a different type of food maybe food from out and you eat a lot of that Lo and behold ladies and gentlemen here's always room for dessert or maybe you start with dessert first these are all habitual cycles that require effort to change and then once you do change them once they require a lot of effort to continue know the process I understand that it really is you've heard the same one day at a time it really is one day at a time and it really is one meal at a time I can choose not to have a meal today and maybe I'll have one tomorrow or the next day but before you can even get in that I think at least I did maybe I maybe I'm way too analytical for everything but I have to realize and do my research and find out is fat gonna screw me up metabolicly the is fasting gonna screw me up metaboically if I start fasting and then what types of fasting are there oh my God juice fasting should I juice fast yeah I can just drink juice all day well the issue with juice ladies and gentlemen is it's loaded with carbohydrates which are glucose couple different types of of sugar are in carbohydrates but it really is glucose and so knowing that at least from what I've studied knowing that glucose too much of it over a period of time and that's very person to person dependent somebody might be able to drink alcohol every day for the rest of their lives and never develop cirrhosis of the liver a lot of it every day and some people has a few drinks and all of a sudden they have cirrhosis of the well they have fat in the liver and that translate to cirrhosis but some people go very long time smoking some people go very long time eating crap and living a long time I don't know if that's you but it sure as hell was it me because I was able very quickly to get fat as a child and then just continue life as a fat child a fat adolescent a fat teen a fat adult and then I got into my 50s and now I'm a fat middle aged man that doesn't even have wherewith all to go out and buy a hundred and fifty thousand dollar red convertible is a midlife crisis being that fat white guy in the BMW that was from a book I believe I would give it credit but I remember who said it but I didn't want to be that guy either it was something different when I embarked on it this time I hope this little exercise helped you in some way shape or form maybe it gave you hope maybe it was containing those magical words I talked about that are gonna move you forward have you forgiving yourself every time you as you have in the past and let's admit that we screw up and we wear them like badges of courage some of us live in the past some of us retain all of that pain on a daily basis and you basically take it out and with your baster stick and you you based it nice and glossy every single day with the same crap in the same baster folks if we're gonna hold on to the past at least grab a different section and see how that works but I promise you that none of it's going to be helpful thinking of what you should have done how you should have responded the trajectory you should have taken the road less travel that you chose to stay away from at the stage in your life if you're still breathing you can still make your adjustments now they might not be as grandiose as they used to be or they could have been but who cares as far as you're concerned they will be now they will be whatever you want them to be at this time the only thing is you have to take that step and yes you might have stepped a thousand times before you might have done many things to try to get your fatness in check you have a lot of folks against you you have the it almost seems you have professionals in the medical world that aren't helping as much as they could but they have people they have to answer to as well then you have people like me that aren't monitoring any of this and Monet monetizing any of this as far as you know if somebody wants to send me something because it's helped great but it's not my purpose I sell houses I sell real estate here in Santa Clarita Santa Clarita Openhouses com if you want to send clients referrals thank you very much hopefully this helped tell people about their real estate service this is really my passion I love representing people buying and selling real estate that's that that part of my life I went from being a first responder LAPD cop to real estate and having gotten the fat thing together I offer that to you for nothing if you know people in real estate that wanna buy yourself send them my way knowing this how do you start well if you've gotten answers to all the questions you've talked to enough medical professionals then you just tomorrow don't blow it out today don't go out there and say oh my God tomorrow I'm starting this so I'm gonna eat everything just just be normal today just kind of look to tomorrow a little bit you don't have to live in tomorrow live in now but you can look at tomorrow and say okay th kind of gonna play out maybe get up and start your day with a shower if you're not a morning shower person kind of off you know you want to floss and brush and get prepared for that but I find just a little thing it's weird but I find that when I have good dental hygiene and I'm trimmed and shaved and clean the the the fast or even the night before I find that fasting day is relatively a little bit easier if you will it also helps me when I have been eating low carbohydrates for the period of time leading up to my fast now mostly I eat low carbohydrates so what's low less than 20 grams a day typically so I'm kind of living in that fat protein world that's where I most comfortable there's books on this blood type E for your blood type I don't know if any of that's true I'm not a medical professional but as truth would have it in that book you write for your but blood type type 0 is kind of more away from sugar and stuff so the high fat I pray anyway fits but it works for me I'm not endorsing that book you start your journey by if you normally eat breakfast maybe tomorrow you start with lunch not a combined breakfast and lunch but just the maybe you do that for a week and then the following week after that maybe you miss breakfast and lunch and have dinner the meal that you're going to eat I was more of an evening break into the refrigerator get into the chips which I don't have any of that stuff anymore or go bust out a thing of ice cream or a bag of candy or whatever maybe my evening time was that time so I was really good most of the day so my fasting time when I was doing that one meal a day or has I still do one meal a day now that time has changed back then because my weakness was in the afternoon in the evening that's typically when I would have my feeding it took a long time to get that feeding instead of because I was you know torch off body fat instead of making that feeding a 3,000 calorie allotment of what I would basically eat just to maintain at that time this meal had to just be the meal 7 8 900 calories and I lived with that that was the meal but that was the fasting it wasn't until the multiple day fasts came in when I wasn't eating for multiple days in a row check with your doctor but for me that was the trick because I was able to see weight loss on that scale that was first off phenomenal at 365 pounds truth be told I could go from living in complete indulgence of high sugar high carbohydrate combined with high fat high salt foods right pizza we're talking about stone cold ice cream we're talking about large portions of this not the little itty bitty size but something that an adult male that's held bent on wanting to have adult onset diabetes in the year end up in an early grave and possibly have some stuff amputated and end up being cared for by doctors in hospital beds for the rest of their life that type of allotment of food it took me a while to wrap my mind around just eating something that has a particular portion size and that was a weird thing for me because I hated those limits while I understand in my brain there are some things I cannot moderate can't so I don't drink it don't touch it if I'm at a party being offered it yeah I'll have to live through that I bet you had a problem with alcohol well I think I did I drank for a very long time I didn't end up in jail I didn't end up getting arrested I didn't end up any other place I don't know how much in life that dehydration every single morning slowed me down but I do know that I didn't like the way that I felt I didn't like the graininess I didn't like the aftertaste I didn't like that at all and I really didn't like the taste of straight vodka and but wasn't drinking for the taste either I was drinking for the effect and once I realized that I was drinking for the effect and I didn't like it I just quit and that was a good day and I never look back it's those quitting days you need the ones that work not all the practice that you put into this point stop practicing make it happen off a soapbox Connor with honor let me know if this helps somebody asked me how they communicate with me send me an email first last name at Gmail com real simple and maybe start that email with you know with honor for the spelling be well we'll talk to you soon thank you for watching trying to go to I didn't part of the story not that this really adds anything you have carbohydrates I know there's and we hold on to those screw UPS usually should be eaten when you have your weak point not realizing how much water my body was capable of carrying
