- 0:03Speaker 1: billy the kid in the morning on mix 102.9 brought
- 0:05Speaker 1: to you by.
- 0:10Speaker 2: 833-787-1029.
- 0:10Speaker 1: It's time. Go ahead. This is going to make me.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Sound like a horrible person, but around one of my
- 0:17Speaker 2: best friends, I pretend that I'm broke.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I know the feeling. You pretend that you're broke around
- 0:25Speaker 1: one of your friends? Why one of your friends?
- 0:27Speaker 2: One of my friends. Okay. So first of all, I
- 0:30Speaker 2: just want to say I'm not broke. I have a
- 0:32Speaker 2: good job. I pay my bills. I have savings and everything.
- 0:36Speaker 2: But I have a budget and my friend does not
- 0:39Speaker 2: understand the concept of a budget because she comes from
- 0:42Speaker 2: a very wealthy family. Like her dad is worth millions. Oh, wow.
- 0:50Speaker 2: She's single? Yeah.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Just saying.
- 0:55Speaker 2: I'll let you know. No, not right now. Yeah.
- 0:57Speaker 1: She might be soon. So she just spends whatever all
- 1:00Speaker 1: the time. She's just doing her thing.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Yeah. Like she's always like, you know, let's go shopping.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Let's like go to a concert. Let's get our nails done.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Let's take a trip. And I'm just like, that stuff
- 1:11Speaker 2: adds up. Like I can't casually drop like $ 300 on
- 1:16Speaker 2: concert tickets every other weekend.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Right. No, of course, especially right now, everything's so expensive.
- 1:21Speaker 1: You got to sit.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:22Speaker 1: You got to plan everything out that you're going to spend. It's,
- 1:24Speaker 1: it's hard out here right now. So, so you pretend
- 1:27Speaker 1: like you're broke so you don't have to hang out
- 1:29Speaker 1: or how do you, why do you do it?
- 1:31Speaker 2: Yeah. So like, okay. So like a year ago I
- 1:33Speaker 2: started telling her like, you know, you know, I, I can't, I'm,
- 1:36Speaker 2: I'm struggling right now. And you know, think times are tough,
- 1:40Speaker 2: but because she has money, like she'll just immediately say like, Oh,
- 1:43Speaker 2: don't worry about it. I got you. Oh, and Oh,
- 1:46Speaker 2: do you let her go? Uh-huh.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Yeah. You let her pay for stuff?
- 1:52Speaker 2: She's paid for my nails, like dinners, concert shopping. Really?
- 2:00Speaker 1: So you're saying it because you're saying I'm broke, so
- 2:03Speaker 1: she'll just go ahead and go, girl, I got it.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Don't worry about it. Just a couple hundred bucks.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Well, that wasn't the plan. I just thought she would
- 2:11Speaker 2: kind of like ease up and realize like we're not
- 2:13Speaker 2: in the same tax bracket. Right.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Okay.
- 2:16Speaker 2: It kind of backfired but a few months ago I
- 2:19Speaker 2: took it way too far my okay so first like
- 2:23Speaker 2: a little backstory my my dad got pretty sick and
- 2:26Speaker 2: he was dealing with some medical issues and like thankfully
- 2:28Speaker 2: he has really good insurance and financially you know he's
- 2:32Speaker 2: he's okay he's fine okay but my friend asked if
- 2:35Speaker 2: I wanted to go to Cabo with her and I
- 2:37Speaker 2: didn't want to spend the money so I told her
- 2:40Speaker 2: like you know I can't with everything going on with
- 2:42Speaker 2: my dad. I just basically said I've been helping my
- 2:45Speaker 2: parents with medical bills and stuff like that, which was
- 2:49Speaker 2: a complete lie.
- 2:50Speaker 1: But your dad is sick. He is unfortunately sick.
- 2:53Speaker 2: He is sick.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Okay, got it. Sorry to hear that. So you tell
- 2:56Speaker 1: her you can't because you've got to help with medical
- 2:58Speaker 1: bills and stuff.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Exactly. But then a couple of weeks later, she like
- 3:03Speaker 2: randomly comes over to my house and she wanted to talk.
- 3:07Speaker 2: And then she handed me a check for like five
- 3:09Speaker 2: thousand dollars. What?
- 3:12Speaker 1: To help?
- 3:14Speaker 2: Yes. She said, like, you know, like, I know you've
- 3:16Speaker 2: been stressed about your dad and like you can use
- 3:18Speaker 2: this for, you know, medical bills or like whatever your
- 3:20Speaker 2: family needs.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 3:22Speaker 2: That is so sweet.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Very sweet.
- 3:25Speaker 2: I know. And I started crying because it was literally
- 3:30Speaker 2: one of the nicest things anybody has ever done for me.
- 3:33Speaker 2: But also, I knew I was full of crap.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Right.
- 3:37Speaker 2: And so I almost told her the truth, but I didn't.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Okay. Let me ask you this. And I'm going to
- 3:44Speaker 1: just be honest. Oh, God. Did you take the check
- 3:48Speaker 1: and cash it?
- 3:49Speaker 2: I took the check. Oh!
- 3:52Speaker 1: Wow.
- 3:54Speaker 2: I know. I know. I know how bad it sounds.
- 3:57Speaker 2: My sister. In my head, I'm thinking, I'm thinking, like,
- 4:01Speaker 2: her family's so wealthy. Like, $ 5, 000 is probably like $ 20. Wow.
- 4:05Speaker 2: You know what I mean? For a normal person.
- 4:08Speaker 1: You were justifying it to yourself. And you're right.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 4:11Speaker 1: But at the same time, she thinks she's given that $ 5, 000. Yeah,
- 4:15Speaker 1: she thinks she's giving that $ 5, 000 to help your family,
- 4:17Speaker 1: which is incredibly sweet. What a great friend to do that.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Whether she has money or not, you can't expect people
- 4:23Speaker 1: to do that.
- 4:23Speaker 2: No.
- 4:24Speaker 1: So that was very nice of her. No, no. And
- 4:26Speaker 1: then you take the money and you're like, now I
- 4:28Speaker 1: got money for Cabo.
- 4:30Speaker 2: I couldn't give it to my dad because he'd be
- 4:32Speaker 2: so pissed that, like, I was going around telling people
- 4:35Speaker 2: I'm broke and, like, paying his medical bills. Yeah. I
- 4:39Speaker 2: told my friend that my dad is really prideful and, like,
- 4:41Speaker 2: probably wouldn't accept the money directly, but that I gave
- 4:45Speaker 2: it to my mom because, like, she handles all their bills.
- 4:48Speaker 2: And that's obviously a lie.
- 4:50Speaker 1: So another lie.
- 4:50Speaker 2: I still have, like, one.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Another one.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Yeah. I still have most of the money.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Oh, you do. Okay. What are you going to spend it?
- 4:58Speaker 1: I feel like you got to do something nice or
- 4:59Speaker 1: good with it.
- 5:00Speaker 2: I did. I actually, okay. So I did get him
- 5:03Speaker 2: a really nice recliner. So he can be like comfortable
- 5:05Speaker 2: at home while he's recovering. Oh, so he went towards him. Okay.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Did you go to Goodwill to get it? Yeah. No.
- 5:17Speaker 2: No. Brand new. Brand new.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Brand new recliner. Well, that's nice. So you did pay
- 5:21Speaker 1: it forward, kind of. Wow. Good confession. That is a
- 5:24Speaker 1: good secret. I mean, you're riding a very shady, blurred,
- 5:29Speaker 1: ethical line here.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Right.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Right. You know?
- 5:31Speaker 2: It's eating me up a little bit.
- 5:33Speaker 1: I'm going to be honest.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:34Speaker 1: What a good friend. Don't lose her, though. I mean,
- 5:36Speaker 1: not just because she's rich, but she has a... Big heart.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Yeah. Rich with a big heart. You don't get that
- 5:42Speaker 2: very often.
- 5:42Speaker 1: No, I've been looking for it for years.
