- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. I am Lucas. Luna: And I am Luna. We are so glad you are here. Lucas: It is episode two hundred twenty-nine. We have been going for a while. Luna: I know. It feels like we just finished cleaning up last time. Lucas: That is right. Last week we learned å rydde, to clean up. Luna: Yes. And before that, waiting and helping. So many useful things. Lucas: Today we move from cleaning to carrying and drying. Luna: Oh, I love those. They are so physical. Very easy to remember. Lucas: Exactly. Let us start with the first verb. It is å bære. Luna: Å bære. Okay. That means to carry? Lucas: Yes. To carry something in your hands or on your shoulder. Luna: Let me try. Å bære. Lucas: Good. Now let us make it a sentence. Jeg bærer. Luna: Jeg bærer. I carry. Lucas: Perfect. Can you say it again? Slowly. Jeg bærer. Luna: Jeg bærer. Yeah. It sounds strong. Like lifting something heavy. Lucas: It can be heavy or light. Let us add an object. Bære veska. Luna: Bære veska. To carry the bag. Lucas: Right. Veska means the bag. Often a handbag or a tote. Luna: Okay. Jeg bærer veska. I carry the bag. Lucas: Let us practice that whole phrase together. Jeg bærer veska. Luna: Jeg bærer veska. One more time. Jeg bærer veska. Lucas: Excellent. Now, think about where you might use this. Luna: At the store. Or maybe walking home from the library. Lucas: Yes. Carrying books. Or groceries. It is a very common action. Luna: I feel like I carry my bag everywhere. Especially when it rains. Lucas: That leads perfectly to our second verb. Å tørke. Luna: Å tørke. Is that to dry? Lucas: Yes. To remove water. To dry something off. Luna: Okay. Å tørke. Let me say it. Å tørke. Lucas: Good. Now the present tense. Jeg tørker. Luna: Jeg tørker. I dry. Lucas: Correct. It follows the same pattern as the others. -er at the end. Luna: So jeg tørker. I dry. Simple. Lucas: Very simple. Now let us add an object. Tørke hendene. Luna: Tørke hendene. To dry the hands. Lucas: Hendene means the hands. Plural, definite form. Luna: Okay. Jeg tørker hendene. I dry my hands. Lucas: Yes. Or someone else's hands. But usually your own. Luna: After washing them, obviously. With soap and water. Lucas: Right. Then you dry them. Let us repeat the full phrase. Tørke hendene. Luna: Tørke hendene. Again. Tørke hendene. Lucas: Great. Now put them together. Jeg tørker hendene. Luna: Jeg tørker hendene. I dry the hands. Lucas: Let us do one more round. Say it slowly. Jeg tørker hendene. Luna: Jeg tørker hendene. There we go. Lucas: You are getting faster. That is good progress. Luna: Thanks. I feel like these verbs are very grounded. Lucas: They are. You use them every day. Carrying bags, drying hands. Luna: And maybe drying dishes too? Tørke tallerkenene? Lucas: Yes! You can apply the pattern to anything. Tørke klærne. Dry the clothes. Luna: Or tørke gulvet. Dry the floor. If you spill water. Lucas: Exactly. The structure is flexible. Verb plus object. Luna: This makes sense. It builds on what we already know. Lucas: It does. Remember å hjelpe from last week? You help someone carry something. Luna: Oh, yes. Kan du hjelpe meg å bære veska? Can you help me carry the bag? Lucas: Perfect combination. You are connecting the dots nicely. Luna: I am trying. It helps to see how they fit together. Lucas: That is the goal. Small steps, big connections. Luna: So, to recap. Å bære. Jeg bærer. Bære veska. Lucas: And å tørke. Jeg tørker. Tørke hendene. Luna: I will practice these today. Maybe I will carry my groceries home. Lucas: Do that. Use the words in real life. It sticks better. Luna: I will. Thanks, Lucas. This was really helpful. Lucas: My pleasure.
