- 0:00Speaker 1: Like you said, like not having private thoughts, everything being
- 0:03Speaker 1: out in the open. And I mean, when we agreed
- 0:06Speaker 1: to do Monsters, Inc., Pixar was a lot smaller of
- 0:08Speaker 1: a company. So I don't think we, we definitely didn't
- 0:12Speaker 1: think it was going to blow up as much as
- 0:13Speaker 1: it did. And it's a huge movie. It's like international movie,
- 0:17Speaker 1: which is wild. But I am, I even growing up,
- 0:21Speaker 1: I was never like, I really loved doing theater and
- 0:23Speaker 1: musical theater and stuff when I was little, but I
- 0:25Speaker 1: was never like, oh, I really wish I was famous
- 0:28Speaker 1: or like, You know, so yeah, that's good.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Well, and it's funny when you said live up to expectations.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Boo literally has none. She's just a kid. It's so
- 0:42Speaker 2: interesting that it's like, what expectations should Boo be living
- 0:46Speaker 2: up to? Yeah, I guess.
- 0:47Speaker 1: But when I said that, I was thinking, you know,
- 0:49Speaker 1: when I go to Comic-Con, not that I'm not on
- 0:53Speaker 1: my best behavior in like day-to-day life, but you feel
- 0:56Speaker 1: like you have to be a little more like, mind
- 0:57Speaker 1: what you're saying like you know just little things like
- 1:01Speaker 1: that where it's not you know i think in day-to-day
- 1:04Speaker 1: life i don't feel like i'm happening to live up
- 1:06Speaker 1: to the expectations of boo but when you're like in
- 1:08Speaker 1: this setting where like people are like looking up to
- 1:10Speaker 1: you as a character that they grew up with you
- 1:13Speaker 1: want to you like don't want to let them down.
- 1:17Speaker 2: That's so sweet because like what I remember of Boo
- 1:19Speaker 2: is like just all these noises and like this really
- 1:21Speaker 2: cute kid that would run around and be scared of monsters. Yeah.
- 1:26Speaker 2: And I wanted to ask you when you were doing that,
- 1:30Speaker 2: and you've probably said this multiple times, but like, was
- 1:33Speaker 2: it true? Like your family would just make scenarios for
- 1:36Speaker 2: you to make the noises you needed for the scene?
- 1:38Speaker 2: Like you didn't really have a script per se? Yeah.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, since I was so young, I couldn't
- 1:43Speaker 1: sit down and read a script. A lot of it
- 1:45Speaker 1: was like just running around the studio and then following
- 1:48Speaker 1: me around with a microphone. Sometimes Pete Docter, the director,
- 1:53Speaker 1: he would use a Cookie Monster puppet to kind of
- 1:56Speaker 1: feed lines to me. Like Cookie Monster might say, what
- 1:59Speaker 1: would you say if you lost your kitty? I'd say
- 2:01Speaker 1: kitty in a sad way. Yeah, or like my parents
- 2:06Speaker 1: would be in there like tickling me or throwing me
- 2:08Speaker 1: up in the air to get a certain like, cadence
- 2:11Speaker 1: of laughter or whatever it is. So yeah, but a
- 2:13Speaker 1: lot of it was just like trial and error and
- 2:15Speaker 1: figuring out how to work with a three year old.
- 2:17Speaker 1: And the sound guy taped a microphone to a boom
- 2:20Speaker 1: and had to take his shoes off. So he wasn't
- 2:22Speaker 1: making a lot of noise chasing me around. So he's
- 2:24Speaker 1: like tiptoeing around me in his socks, like chasing me around.
- 2:27Speaker 1: So yeah, they had to get creative to make different
- 2:30Speaker 1: scenarios kind of like you said, she didn't I didn't
- 2:33Speaker 1: say much like Kitty Mike Wazowski. But sometimes they need
- 2:36Speaker 1: me to say it in a certain like enthusiasm or
- 2:38Speaker 1: sad or like, so they kind of have to get
- 2:41Speaker 1: creative with ways to get me to say what they wanted.
- 2:46Speaker 2: What do you, do you think that, um, like, would
- 2:50Speaker 2: they even do that anymore? You think have that young
- 2:53Speaker 2: a kid?
