2:06
[SPEAKER_04]: It's up to his estranged daughter to unravel his dark past.
2:10
[SPEAKER_04]: It's a big reveal in the movie.
2:11
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm gonna be talking with the movie's leads, Deborah Ann Wall and Jeffrey Donovan, Deborah Ann, you know, for from Daredevil, true blood, the Punisher Queen of the Ring, a scape room, and Jeffrey, you've seen in Burn Notice and Extension in Sikario, Shot Color, just to name a few.
2:31
[SPEAKER_04]: We're gonna get all into this to this horror movie, just in time for the season as well.
2:40
[SPEAKER_04]: on something that has been made very many times throughout film history.
2:46
[SPEAKER_04]: So I want to ask about the originality of this script.
2:49
[SPEAKER_04]: What they saw and there's some forensic science involved and it just so happens that Deborah was really interested in that before she even got into the movie.
2:58
[SPEAKER_04]: So we'll hear about that as well.
3:00
[SPEAKER_04]: and for Jeffrey, the supernatural, the natural, supernatural elements that shooting in Astoria, Lint, the whole shoot, and arriving on his first day to shoot a morgue scene.
3:12
[SPEAKER_04]: All that and more, let's talk about the cycle out on shutter.
3:16
[SPEAKER_04]: It's Kyle Meredith with Deborah Ann Wall and Jeffrey Donovan.
3:20
[SPEAKER_04]: Congratulations on the cycle, you all.
3:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
3:23
[SPEAKER_04]: Have either one of you all been, uh, been keeping up with the, um, the fan guesses as to what this movie was actually about?
3:31
[SPEAKER_00]: No, I can't say, I can't say how, how are they doing?
3:34
[SPEAKER_00]: Are they winning?
3:36
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I think that the word's getting out there now, but it's been really interesting because here you've got this movie, you know, it's sort of got a reveal to it and that's kind of be fun going into it.
3:45
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, especially, you know, from the acting, you know this story,
3:52
[SPEAKER_04]: you know I don't know let's let's let's get into a little bit because what what it it is a cool it kind of starts as one thing I was thinking like it evokes like it was making me think of like seven the movie seven at the beginning and it turns for something entirely different Jeffrey maybe I'll throw this one at you do you do you have touch points for your films like when you're working on something like this does does that help the job?
4:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's it's always exciting to read something that you haven't seen before.
4:19
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's hard.
4:21
[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes when you're offered things that you go, well, I've done this.
4:25
[SPEAKER_02]: I've seen this, but it is a job and I like these people that are running.
4:30
[SPEAKER_02]: But if you can read a piece of material and you go, oh, I haven't seen this before, this is really fascinating.
4:38
[SPEAKER_02]: And can you pull it off?
4:40
[SPEAKER_02]: And that's always the question.
4:43
[SPEAKER_02]: And thank God, I think we did.
4:45
[SPEAKER_02]: So it was thrilling to read and even more thrilling to watch at the Cannes Best.
4:51
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I'll echo that, too, just like, I went into a blind, you know, since screener and there it is, we go into it and I can't take my eyes off of what's going on.
5:00
[SPEAKER_04]: And especially like, one of the greatest things about this, Deborah, is that right at the end, the very first credit, you know, it's not directed by or what, it's makeup artists, you know, that's what we're looking at here.
5:12
[SPEAKER_04]: Like old school effects, how did that affect the job itself?
5:18
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I wouldn't have done it if they weren't going to be practical effects.
5:22
[SPEAKER_00]: So I will say that right away.
5:23
[SPEAKER_00]: It would be a very different movie because probably Jeffrey and I wouldn't be in it.
5:27
[SPEAKER_00]: Is that right?
5:28
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I don't mean I won't speak specifically for Jeffrey, but that was a condition for me.
5:34
[SPEAKER_00]: When I first met with Jordan, the two questions I had because I already liked the script.
5:40
[SPEAKER_00]: And I just said, how open are you to be in collaborative on the character, and he said as much as you want to be, and they said, and are you doing practical effects, and they said, yeah, 100% across the board, and I was like, great, and then, because my favorite
5:55
[SPEAKER_00]: horror movies, my favorite creature features are all practical effects.
5:59
[SPEAKER_00]: Now yes, you use some visual effects to fill in a scene or a gap or to kind of smooth the edges.
6:04
[SPEAKER_00]: But the idea that there is something that has actual light reflecting off of it being caught on film is such a specific special thing and especially in this sub genre of horror, I think it's more important than other.
6:18
[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, I, you know, you asked, um, if we had touch points and things like that, and I went and I watched as many versions of this type of movie as I could find, mostly less because I wanted to copy it more because I just wanted to see what works and what doesn't work for me, you know, what, when I'm watching it, what makes me lean forward and what makes me sit back, you know, and make sure that I kind of wasn't fired by that going into this project.
6:44
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it is incredible, just as you say practical effects, real effects, how much it makes it feet.
6:50
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm saying it obviously, how much it makes it feel real.
6:53
[SPEAKER_04]: It's like the computers are supposed to make the job better, but in the ends, it's the real things that actually make the movie, I guess.
7:00
[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, you're going to take a quick pause if you like what you're hearing right now.
7:05
[SPEAKER_04]: Please do hit that subscribe button if you're not already, even just subscribing, helps out this series so much, and we'll be right back right after this.
7:15
[SPEAKER_04]: Welcome back.
7:15
[SPEAKER_04]: It's Kyle Meredith with Deborah Ann Wall and Jeffrey Donovan.
7:20
[SPEAKER_04]: Jeffrey, I don't know if I read this, right?
7:21
[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe it was for both of you all, but did I see that the more scene was your very first day?
7:26
[SPEAKER_04]: It was.
7:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
7:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
7:29
[SPEAKER_02]: That was the very first day for all of us.
7:31
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we're not for all of us.
7:31
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not for me.
7:32
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, not for her, but for all of us together.
7:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
7:36
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I don't expect you to get a lot of sets like that as we're talking about these practical effects.
7:41
[SPEAKER_04]: But what was it like walking in and like this is what you're seeing?
7:44
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, we've got the body on the table decomposing as it is, you know, effects or whatever, but that's the first, like, what was that walking into it?
7:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, whenever you walk on a set for the first time, you, your eye is drawn to the attention to detail and then that kind of dictates what's, what's, what's, what's,
8:01
[SPEAKER_02]: What's the type of movie am I doing?
8:03
[SPEAKER_02]: And the attention to detail from Jordan and Kevin and the production designers and props all the way down, it was remarkable.
8:09
[SPEAKER_02]: So you felt you were in very good hands.
8:11
[SPEAKER_02]: So the only one who could possibly ruin it is yourself.
8:14
[SPEAKER_02]: It's so cool to make sure you're like, okay, they've all stepped up their game, so I better step up for mine.
8:21
[SPEAKER_04]: You didn't ruin it, man.
8:22
[SPEAKER_04]: Good job.
8:25
[SPEAKER_04]: You did it.
8:26
[SPEAKER_04]: Diver that body, the composition, that's the word, right?
8:30
[SPEAKER_04]: Wow.
8:31
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
8:33
[SPEAKER_04]: If I read it also, you had had some interest in forensic scientists earlier in your career.
8:39
[SPEAKER_04]: How was it dealing with that on the sets?
8:43
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I loved it.
8:44
[SPEAKER_00]: They, luckily, they had a local ME there, and I had her walk me through what her, you know, first examination would be and how she would have gone about it.
8:53
[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously, they ended it together, so it doesn't, you know, take the full 10 minutes so that we would have taken.
8:58
[SPEAKER_00]: But I, I remember watching her, and I watched a lot of videos of friends against the politics and medical examers doing their job and sort of how they do it, and so much
9:10
[SPEAKER_00]: It's learned so far that it's now instinctual.
9:14
[SPEAKER_00]: And so there were moments where I was like, I think if I'm going to reach under and try to feel the vertebra on his back to see what condition they're in, it's actually going to be easy to do that if I don't look.
9:24
[SPEAKER_00]: And I just let my fingers sort of give me information of my brain.
9:28
[SPEAKER_00]: And so those little learned things that you get doing a job.
9:33
[SPEAKER_00]: But you would only know if you were in the job, right?
9:35
[SPEAKER_00]: So I as an actor would go, oh, well, I need to look closer because we're watching everyone else do it.
9:40
[SPEAKER_00]: There's just that kind of instinctual, almost like a chiropractor, you know, like feeling down your back.
9:44
[SPEAKER_00]: It's easier to do it that way.
9:46
[SPEAKER_00]: So you just pick up little nuances and try to put them in your work so that it feels authentic.
9:52
[SPEAKER_04]: So it actually, it sounds like it maybe changed the way of, like your understanding of Meg.
9:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
9:58
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, absolutely.
10:00
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, she's, she's weird and quirky and I think people who, you know, meet her at first glance are like, you know, you're a little surprised by maybe how macob she is.
10:08
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but that's, that's the fun thing.
10:11
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know, I got to look at a lot of friends again to politics and they're all these kind of wonderfully wacky, highly brilliant people.
10:19
[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe an obvious question, but is there a trick to like humanizing the supernatural?
10:25
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I do think keeping it as close to natural as you can, right?
10:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm a big fan of, I think that they call pre-ternatural.
10:34
[SPEAKER_00]: I think they talk about that in the haunting, where it's like, it's something that is only one step beyond our scientific understanding.
10:41
[SPEAKER_00]: And so it seems supernatural to us, but in a hundred years it will seem natural.
10:46
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think those are the best supernatural stories and the ones that live one-to-two steps beyond our understanding but they feel really based in fact and nature.
10:57
[SPEAKER_00]: And this movie feels like that, this version of this creature feels grounded and terrifying, rather than something that is completely out of the realm of possibility.
11:11
[SPEAKER_04]: And it's just beautiful, beautifully shot, I mean the atmosphere.
11:15
[SPEAKER_04]: Jeffrey, what did you all shoot this?
11:18
[SPEAKER_04]: in a story, an organ.
11:21
[SPEAKER_04]: So that probably just like lends it like gives its own atmosphere all the way around.
11:25
[SPEAKER_04]: Like I'm guessing you probably, you all didn't have to probably try too hard to capture that.
11:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it was in the mouth of the Columbia River.
11:31
[SPEAKER_02]: And so there was often a nest or fog that was rolling in every morning.
11:35
[SPEAKER_02]: And it's certainly lent itself to the mood.
11:37
[SPEAKER_02]: That's for sure.
11:38
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
11:39
[SPEAKER_04]: What is it?
11:40
[SPEAKER_04]: What is the after hours on a set like that?
11:44
[SPEAKER_02]: We go home to sleep.
11:46
[SPEAKER_02]: We're coming next to your homework.
11:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, do our homework.
11:49
[SPEAKER_02]: They're ready for another, another, you know, 12 to 14 hour a day.
11:53
[SPEAKER_04]: That's it again.
11:54
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I'm sure it's just a normal place in the daytime, but when you've got to like that, that's my thought, like, like, are you sort of living in that environments outside of work time as well?
12:04
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I was staying in like an old haunted Victorian house, which was pretty fun.
12:11
[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's something too people, you know, coastal horror is not done very often, but there is, you know,
12:18
[SPEAKER_00]: shipwrecks and the sort of majesty of the sea, there's death around you in that Columbia River.
12:25
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there's a maritime museum right there in a story that is there's a specific Coast Guard sector that is dedicated simply to getting the boats through that channel.
12:34
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's so deadly.
12:36
[SPEAKER_00]: And so, you know, I think we forget how much of that permeates the culture and the loss and the grief and the vibe of us, of a town like that.
12:46
[SPEAKER_04]: and just seeps itself into everything that you all are doing.
12:49
[SPEAKER_04]: I love it.
12:49
[SPEAKER_04]: I love everything about it.
12:51
[SPEAKER_04]: The Frankenstein's Monster joke was a fun I roll and the David's Soul Silver Lady song now lives in that creepy song thing that wasn't originally creepy.
12:59
[SPEAKER_04]: And what you guys done seriously, what a fantastic performance and a great story.
13:05
[SPEAKER_04]: Good job, y'all, and thank you so much for giving me how to talk about it.
13:08
[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you very much.
13:10
[SPEAKER_04]: And we'll be right back right after this.
13:13
[SPEAKER_04]: All right, welcome back.
13:14
[SPEAKER_04]: Now we're going to head back to the 2022 for a little rewind here with the actor Steve Howie.
13:21
[SPEAKER_04]: You'll remember him from Shameless.
13:23
[SPEAKER_04]: But around the time that we got the talk, we were catching up about the vampire action comedy called D-Shift.
13:30
[SPEAKER_04]: uh... and uh... that's where we got to talk about it working with uh... stuntman turned director jj parry and pulling off these wild fight scenes and it bringing back the spirit of eighties and nineties action movies uh... and also talking a little bit about uh... stepping in Arnold Schwarzenegger's shoes for a tv version of a true lies but it's that it's the it's the monster creature feature that were uh... that were focused on and and why
13:53
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm pairing these two interviews together.
13:54
[SPEAKER_04]: So a little bonus time here on today's episode with a special rewind segment.
14:00
[SPEAKER_04]: It's Kyle Meredith with Steve Howie.
14:03
[SPEAKER_04]: Hello, day shift.
14:04
[SPEAKER_04]: This is such a fun movie.
14:06
[SPEAKER_04]: It is absurd and it is funny and it is some of the coolest action that I've ever seen.
14:12
[SPEAKER_04]: And what you all did with the vampires.
14:15
[SPEAKER_04]: What is what is the pitch you get with the movie like this?
14:18
[SPEAKER_04]: Because that had to look good on paper as well.
14:21
[SPEAKER_03]: Jamie Fox, Jamie Fox, Megan Good, Snoop with the cowboy hat and a gattling gun, you know, they had, they, you know, I've never done.
14:38
[SPEAKER_03]: an action thing before like this.
14:42
[SPEAKER_03]: And I've been very fortunate to be on TV and done other movies, but you know, the movies that I've done have been, well, supercross had some stunts, but nothing like this, not like hand-to-hand combat, right?
14:54
[SPEAKER_03]: And, and I've been so lucky of hope being on
15:04
[SPEAKER_03]: And it was like being in a lazy boy.
15:07
[SPEAKER_03]: It was just like, you know, I was just like, what is that?
15:11
[SPEAKER_03]: So, but the stunt guys, JJ stunt team and the stunt coordinator, these guys were so great and gracious and they taught me so much.
15:22
[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, I know how to throw a punch, right?
15:25
[SPEAKER_03]: I can kick, I'll kick the leg.
15:27
[SPEAKER_03]: I can kick the leg pretty good.
15:29
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm trained.
15:30
[SPEAKER_03]: But throwing a movie punch is completely different, and it is a choreography, and it is something that takes a while to learn, and so hopefully I did adjust this, but man, it was so much fun.
15:48
[SPEAKER_03]: It was so much fun.
15:50
[SPEAKER_04]: It absolutely looks like it on screen too, I mean, just in the way you said, you know, it is a choreography, you know, and and the dance of what that like what is the training that goes into this because you all are doing some very inventive stuff on that screen.
16:05
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, well, that's all that's all that's all JJ, you know, he's he has a very infectious attitude, it's very positive and up and, you know, he who logs a lot and it's just a great vibe and then Jamie, Jamie Fox is this.
16:23
[SPEAKER_03]: is the goat like he's the same dude as he is when he's like I'm seeing you know what I mean and also I knew him back in the day because we used to hoop together him in one of his homies they burned out and we used to play in this NBA entertainment league and it was like decades ago
16:45
[SPEAKER_03]: But he was cool then, you know, he's like, you know, he did, he's a Oscar winning actor.
16:54
[SPEAKER_03]: He's a singer.
16:55
[SPEAKER_03]: He's a stand-up.
16:56
[SPEAKER_03]: He's an MC and then you see him in the new scene on set.
16:59
[SPEAKER_03]: And he's like, what's up, what's up?
17:00
[SPEAKER_03]: What are you doing?
17:01
[SPEAKER_03]: Good.
17:01
[SPEAKER_03]: How are you?
17:02
[SPEAKER_03]: Good man, what's up?
17:03
[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, do this.
17:04
[SPEAKER_03]: You know,
17:05
[SPEAKER_03]: He's cool as shit.
17:06
[SPEAKER_03]: And it was so nice.
17:09
[SPEAKER_03]: And so in JJ was great.
17:10
[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody was great.
17:11
[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody was great.
17:12
[SPEAKER_03]: It was such a great experience that I just, you know, I mean, I don't know.
17:19
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what to say.
17:20
[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, it was such a pleasure to show up to set and be a part of it.
17:23
[SPEAKER_04]: Do you guys still get to play ball?
17:25
[SPEAKER_04]: Is there opportunity for things?
17:27
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, is that game still going?
17:29
[SPEAKER_03]: Shit, I can't.
17:30
[SPEAKER_03]: I retired.
17:30
[SPEAKER_03]: I snapped my Achilles tendon.
17:32
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, oh.
17:33
[SPEAKER_03]: And then after that, it was like, you know what?
17:35
[SPEAKER_03]: I like my tendon to be attached.
17:39
[SPEAKER_03]: So maybe daddy needs to put the ball down and just do like slow twitch fiber stuff and not this fast
17:52
[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, you know, I still hoop a little bit.
17:54
[SPEAKER_03]: But no, they don't have that anymore.
17:56
[SPEAKER_04]: They don't have that entertainment league.
17:59
[SPEAKER_03]: It was pretty dope.
18:00
[SPEAKER_03]: It was pretty fun.
18:01
[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody went there.
18:03
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, you know, I got a hit on this character that you're doing on Dacia too.
18:06
[SPEAKER_03]: Is it the, is it the, is it the, is it he's sitting, is he reading brothers?
18:09
[SPEAKER_04]: The Xarian, is he reading brothers?
18:11
[SPEAKER_04]: Now, who are you using for this character?
18:13
[SPEAKER_04]: And what is that accent?
18:14
[SPEAKER_04]: Where is that from?
18:16
[SPEAKER_03]: That accent is a combination.
18:20
[SPEAKER_03]: of people that I went to high school with because I went to percent of value high school for three years and then I went to one year high school in and outside of Denver, Colorado.
18:32
[SPEAKER_03]: So for those first three year and the end of my junior high in some elementary school it would lock her center is right.
18:37
[SPEAKER_03]: It's like just north of Glendale.
18:40
[SPEAKER_03]: So Glendale in 1995 was the most populated area for
18:48
[SPEAKER_03]: the country of Armenia.
18:49
[SPEAKER_03]: And so there was, you know, or my friends on the basketball team, my friends in different classes were Armenian.
18:58
[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, they were some of them had accents, some of them didn't, and, you know, so when I talked to JJ, he had the idea for me to play it and I'm like, I am so white, like I am very Caucasian, you know, like, you know, and he's like, can you do an Armenian accent?
19:17
[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, I mean, listen, you want me to sell you Mercedes-Benz, you know, like, white on white, it's beautiful rooms.
19:25
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, so he was into it, and so it's a combination of like friends, but also, you know, there's like, there's a little bit of Persian in it, actually, too.
19:37
[SPEAKER_03]: It's not great.
19:40
[SPEAKER_03]: But, you know, because of the, you know, like you said that word absurd, the world that we're in,
19:54
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, because I asked Jamie one time, I was like, is this like, I showed up this set and I was like, and we after we did a couple of takes with my accent.
20:01
[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, is it, you're up, is this good?
20:04
[SPEAKER_03]: Is this okay?
20:05
[SPEAKER_03]: You're, you're cool with us?
20:06
[SPEAKER_03]: Is it, he's again, how many do you think?
20:07
[SPEAKER_03]: It's funny.
20:08
[SPEAKER_03]: It's funny.
20:08
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
20:08
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
20:10
[SPEAKER_03]: And so I was like, that's cool.
20:12
[SPEAKER_03]: But then Scott, who plays my brother,
20:16
[SPEAKER_03]: Scott Atkins, you know, he's there at Stuntrain and doing jump 360's.
20:22
[SPEAKER_03]: He's going roundhouse 360's in the air.
20:24
[SPEAKER_03]: His stunt double is doing jump 360's and I'm like, can I stretch first?
20:30
[SPEAKER_03]: Can we like, this is, but it was, it was like going to like stunt school and getting paid for it.
20:40
[SPEAKER_04]: So like, like, I mean, having JG parent, you know, former stuntman making it like I would assume so, but let me point out the stunts Looking credible in it, but also so does the gum catch in the mouth.
20:52
[SPEAKER_04]: That's a that I don't know if that's a CGI gum, but if not, that's a stunt in itself.
20:56
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, this is that was like, you know, listen, that was Was that no, that was CGI thing was it?
21:05
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm let the helm.
21:07
[SPEAKER_04]: I want it to be real.
21:08
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, real.
21:11
[SPEAKER_04]: Thanks, whatever you wanted to be.
21:13
[SPEAKER_04]: Easter Bunny is still real and so is the gum catch.
21:15
[SPEAKER_04]: That's what I need to do here.
21:17
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, look, I mean, it's vampires in LA.
21:21
[SPEAKER_03]: Christus is not real.
21:25
[SPEAKER_04]: Now, being in the bloodline of Van Helsing as you were with Stan Helsing, were you able to throw on that at all?
21:33
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no, that, yeah, that talk about, yeah, that was some completely different, yeah, Stan Helsing.
21:44
[SPEAKER_04]: reaching in the bed.
21:45
[SPEAKER_04]: But you know, it seems like this is a magnet for you, you know, monsters and vampires.
21:50
[SPEAKER_03]: It's a, I'm down for it.
21:52
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I put, I need to do zombies now.
21:56
[SPEAKER_03]: You, you know, wearables, you know, Frankenstein's, let's get all the, I'll redo the mummy series.
22:05
[SPEAKER_04]: You know,
22:09
[SPEAKER_04]: monster squad you could do a mall in one and so that was a great thing about that when I had everybody in the same movie.
22:15
[SPEAKER_03]: had everybody in it.
22:16
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
22:18
[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's what's cool about this movie, though, is like it is a throwback to those 90s movies that was funny.
22:27
[SPEAKER_03]: Still had a heart action comedy.
22:32
[SPEAKER_03]: Some gross a little bit much, but it was like a drive in movie.
22:37
[SPEAKER_03]: And so Netflix is doing it, which is, you know,
22:43
[SPEAKER_03]: It's great that they did this because I don't know if there was an opportunity for this movie to be made otherwise, right?
22:49
[SPEAKER_03]: Because it's a popcorn movie.
22:51
[SPEAKER_03]: It's such a great excapism.
22:54
[SPEAKER_03]: Am I kids watched it?
22:56
[SPEAKER_03]: Two, two, seven year olds and a 13 year old.
22:59
[SPEAKER_04]: Totally into it.
23:00
[SPEAKER_03]: Totally into it.
23:02
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, they thought their dad was a little cringy, but like, you know, that's, that's awful.
23:06
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
23:06
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I'm hoping there's that there's more of this.
23:08
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm hoping there's a sequel involved, you know, that we, it feels like it could anyway, in which, you know, they all do all the good movies.
23:15
[SPEAKER_03]: You leave it a little bit open, but like they created a really, the writers and the producers created a really in JJ created a really cool world of this like, you know, this, this
23:30
[SPEAKER_03]: I really think that's kind of cool because it's like, you know, they're the ultimate good guys and it's the and when the enemy is a fictitious character, I think it's like let your imagination run on.
23:45
[SPEAKER_04]: Speaking of callbacks to the the 90s and everything I quickly bring up a true lies which we get to see you in next with the the throwback there what's it been like taking on that role right the Arnold role great transition all done from radio.
24:03
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you know, you know, but you know, well, when this came up, I was like, you guys know, I'm not an Austrian bodybuilder, right?
24:12
[SPEAKER_03]: Like you're not our median either, so it's good point, good point.
24:17
[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, I think, you know, I think the movie stands alone.
24:21
[SPEAKER_03]: It's a classic.
24:23
[SPEAKER_03]: I think you can't really touch that.
24:26
[SPEAKER_03]: Also the show that we're doing is, well, in the pilot, we show, I don't even know if I'm supposed to say this, but who cares?
24:36
[SPEAKER_03]: Helen, the Jamie Lee Curtis character, played by Ginger Gensaga, she becomes an agent.
24:42
[SPEAKER_03]: So it's now, we're kind of the show
24:49
[SPEAKER_03]: you know, inspired by the movie, but yeah, those are not, you know, fun shoes to try to fill because, you know, he's a, you know, Schwarzenegger's a juggernaut and is like the, one of the legend action stars, a Terminator Conan, you know, everything else, um,
25:16
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you can't say that dialogue anymore.
25:19
[SPEAKER_03]: Can't say that it was a different time.
25:21
[SPEAKER_03]: It was a different time.
25:23
[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, I'm excited.
25:25
[SPEAKER_03]: But the movie was helpful for my stunt training into the stuff that I'll probably be doing for the CBS show.
25:36
[SPEAKER_03]: Because it's no more of like being behind a bar.
25:40
[SPEAKER_04]: and like you know talking shit anymore from shameless right now I got to get out and like kicks the mass in a suit which by the way you know I won't say anything anybody has a compliment you want to millions as before but seeing you in shameless for all those seasons that was such a great show and and it's been over for a year has that sunk in because you know usually you'd be done and you go back but this time you don't go back.
26:02
[SPEAKER_03]: We don't go back.
26:03
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, we were all, um, you, we're all still friends, right?
26:08
[SPEAKER_03]: We're all still family.
26:09
[SPEAKER_03]: You can't help it.
26:10
[SPEAKER_03]: Um, you know, Jeremy is like the, you know, he's, but he's always a star in any decade.
26:17
[SPEAKER_03]: I actually told him, I said, I feel bad for you that you weren't born in like the.
26:21
[SPEAKER_03]: decades before because you get a bit of just a huge star in the 50s and 60s.
26:26
[SPEAKER_03]: But he's a huge star now and then the bear is awesome.
26:30
[SPEAKER_03]: Danola has got a new show coming out on NBC.
26:34
[SPEAKER_03]: Cameron's, you know, got movies released.
26:37
[SPEAKER_03]: Emma is still doing her thing.
26:38
[SPEAKER_03]: Ethan's doing music.
26:41
[SPEAKER_03]: Um, Emmy had her show Angeline and Bill, you know, he played, I think he, one of the most underrated.
26:49
[SPEAKER_03]: He probably the most underrated character performance.
26:54
[SPEAKER_03]: He was never not Frank in all 11 seasons.
26:57
[SPEAKER_03]: He always came to work and showed up and played a charismatic piece of shit and a loveable drunk.
27:08
[SPEAKER_03]: who was a degenerate father and person, but you loved him.
27:12
[SPEAKER_03]: And he did that for 11 seasons.
27:15
[SPEAKER_03]: The guy's a, you know, he's a, he's an American film and television treasure.
27:22
[SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely.
27:23
[SPEAKER_03]: But thank you for that.
27:24
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that was, I'm, I'm, I'm very grateful.
27:28
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm, I'm, I'm a lucky dude.
27:30
[SPEAKER_04]: That's going to live on as one of the greatest all-time see, you know, when people do the rankings, it's already on there and it's going to stay that was such a hell of a run there to all of you all.
27:40
[SPEAKER_04]: In the meantime, I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do and true lies and day shift is so fun.
27:46
[SPEAKER_04]: I want to see more of these brothers.
27:48
[SPEAKER_04]: I want to see more vampires and what you guys can do with it.
27:51
[SPEAKER_04]: So I hope there's more in the future.
27:53
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, Kyle, thank you so much.
27:55
[SPEAKER_03]: It's really kind.
28:00
[SPEAKER_04]: And that's what they say.
28:00
[SPEAKER_04]: That's what they say.
28:01
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
28:02
[SPEAKER_03]: Though, I don't know what it means, but I hope it comes true.
28:07
[SPEAKER_04]: Steve, thank you so much for taking the time to talk.
