- 0:16Speaker 2: to the show, Fellas, this is a special show. Biddy
- 0:20Speaker 2: saw one of the we had with a couple of
- 0:22Speaker 2: who do we have on the show? We had DJ
- 0:25Speaker 2: cas Oh, yeah, we had cash and we talked about Yeah.
- 0:28Speaker 2: He was like, we gotta get on here and we
- 0:30Speaker 2: need to talk. I was like, well, who's gonna bring
- 0:32Speaker 2: He brought the heavy hitters, and he brought the heavy
- 0:34Speaker 2: hitter the heavy architects. The architects. That's that's the perfect
- 0:40Speaker 2: of that of the Atlanta nightlife. Biddy in particular, was
- 0:45Speaker 2: one of the first people to give me a job when.
- 0:47Speaker 1: I moved to Atlanta. I literally moved to Atlanta.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Because he said, yeah, I got you that that's really
- 0:53Speaker 2: that's a terrible thing for someone to say, yeah, just
- 0:56Speaker 2: just move everything they they got going on.
- 0:58Speaker 1: My daughter was one.
- 1:00Speaker 2: I left to Atlanta because he said, yeah, I got you.
- 1:05Speaker 2: I'm gonna I'm gonna do the best that I can.
- 1:07Speaker 2: And he had me running around in the clubs. I
- 1:09Speaker 2: didn't know what the hell I was doing. I was
- 1:11Speaker 2: just going all over the to do I was doing that.
- 1:15Speaker 2: So Bitty Barnes Bachi abe wow, yeah, please introduce yourselves.
- 1:23Speaker 3: My name is mister Biddy Barnes. I'm from the Bronx,
- 1:26Speaker 3: New York, and I am one of the architects of nightlife.
- 1:30Speaker 3: I've been doing parties since nineteen ninety two ninety three.
- 1:36Speaker 3: I started with Al Entertainment ag Entertainment. I met him
- 1:41Speaker 3: at one of his parties actually at Ethiopian Vibrations, and
- 1:47Speaker 3: Mike Squib was like, I want to introduce you to somebody.
- 1:50Speaker 3: I think y'all should be friends, and introduced me to
- 1:52Speaker 3: Al and from that day we just clicked. And then
- 1:55Speaker 3: one day he introduced me to AID and that's where
- 1:58Speaker 3: that's where, that's where it really starts because ab gavers
- 2:01Speaker 3: Friday nights over there. That'sols Yeah, I remember I had
- 2:05Speaker 3: Friday nights aso. But go ahead, what's the first?
- 2:08Speaker 1: What's up? What's up? I'm Bachie uh the first? Yes,
- 2:14Speaker 1: that's so.
- 2:15Speaker 3: But they call you big Bachi.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Yeah. So, me and my brother two years apart. We're
- 2:20Speaker 1: from College Park, our parents are from Ghana. Bachi's our
- 2:22Speaker 1: last name. But I started throwing parties in really high school.
- 2:27Speaker 1: But college I went to West Georgia. Uh started my
- 2:30Speaker 1: entertainment company with my boys A and then Uh, it's
- 2:33Speaker 1: funny my cousin Pat Oh. Yeah, Russell. They used to
- 2:37Speaker 1: hold down Georgia Southern. So they had their crew at
- 2:39Speaker 1: Georgia Southern called Steady Rising. Had Bai and was Georgia.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Then our girl Nicole Martin, she was at Georgia State,
- 2:46Speaker 1: and we all grew up together. So everybody threw parties
- 2:49Speaker 1: at their colleges and when we would come home, we
- 2:51Speaker 1: had an umbrella company called Certified Crumptents. Through college, we
- 2:56Speaker 1: all was the man or the woman at they school
- 2:58Speaker 1: and then when we came home, we threw the parties.
- 3:00Speaker 1: So by the time we graduated, we already had a
- 3:03Speaker 1: name in nightlife in Atlanta, and so when we graduated,
- 3:07Speaker 1: we were still throwing parties and we already had a crowd.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I met both of these guys on our way up.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Ab was doing his thing, Biddy was doing his thing
- 3:17Speaker 1: with AG and I think I was like the first
- 3:20Speaker 1: young guy who came to him who had a crowd.
- 3:24Speaker 3: And from that before social media, before.
- 3:27Speaker 1: For social media, before we started doing the Texas. You
- 3:30Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, the text blasts and all that stuff,
- 3:32Speaker 1: and then.
- 3:33Speaker 3: The truth is the niggas came out of nowhere. He
- 3:36Speaker 3: was like, where did these guys come from?
- 3:38Speaker 1: We came out of nowhere to the Atlanta mainstream nightlife.
- 3:43Speaker 1: He's right. But if you were from our side, if
- 3:46Speaker 1: you from here and you went to college anytime doing
- 3:49Speaker 1: from two thousand to two thousand and eight, you knew
- 3:52Speaker 1: about us. And then we kept it going. You know
- 3:53Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So, and then from that graduated to
- 3:56Speaker 1: some ownership. So got saft buckhead. I have a tax
- 3:59Speaker 1: office business. Got you got a tax office too. Yeah,
- 4:02Speaker 1: I've been doing taxas fifteen years.
- 4:03Speaker 3: That's his ship. That's the bread and butter. Hey, what's up, sir?
- 4:09Speaker 4: My name is ab Washington, Washington, d C. Who swim
- 4:14Speaker 4: is the godfather? Sir? H I started uh the business
- 4:22Speaker 4: in d C. I started as a DJ, went up,
- 4:25Speaker 4: stopped promoting, did some clubs in New York, Washington, now Atlanta,
- 4:31Speaker 4: and we moved around up and down. During Super Bowl
- 4:34Speaker 4: doing Super Bowl All Star weekend. Biddy was there.
- 4:37Speaker 3: He ain't doing it right. Let me do it for him. No, No,
- 4:39Speaker 3: we're not doing that. That's a Washington. A Washington started
- 4:43Speaker 3: throwing parties in DC as a DJ. He went from
- 4:46Speaker 3: a DJ HI the DJ because his door was so busy,
- 4:50Speaker 3: he started working at the door. The owners of the
- 4:52Speaker 3: club that he worked at told these guys that killer
- 4:55Speaker 3: Manjar in New York, I got your manager. They sent
- 4:58Speaker 3: Aid to New York and became a manager of Killer
- 5:01Speaker 3: Manjary in eighty eight eighty nine, which is a huge
- 5:05Speaker 3: club in New York at the particular time. That's where
- 5:08Speaker 3: Abe learned all of the background of how everything works.
- 5:11Speaker 3: This is why all of this shit makes sense. So
- 5:13Speaker 3: Abe comes here, he leaves New York, comes to Atlanta.
- 5:17Speaker 3: During this time, me and Al had already started doing
- 5:19Speaker 3: these little parties or whatever. But then A pops in
- 5:22Speaker 3: and he has an idea. So Abe walking around the
- 5:25Speaker 3: city finds Essos. After he finds Essos, he goes to
- 5:29Speaker 3: the radio stations. I can't remember the person name he
- 5:31Speaker 3: spoke to, and he told him listen, there you go.
- 5:34Speaker 3: He said, listen, I want to do a live broadcast
- 5:36Speaker 3: at my club, Essos on Cortland Street. And they were like,
- 5:40Speaker 3: live broadcast, what is that? They didn't even know, So
- 5:43Speaker 3: he said, listen, your partner station. What's that called kiss
- 5:48Speaker 3: in DC? Call what you call it, They'll explain it
- 5:51Speaker 3: to you. He called them to explain it to him.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Abe created the first live broadcast in Atlanta that blew
- 5:57Speaker 3: everything up. Then he said, hey, you guys can have
- 5:59Speaker 3: the party. I don't even want my name on the radio.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Put your name on the radio. That's where the change
- 6:04Speaker 3: of the game was.
- 6:05Speaker 2: That's fire, all right. So I want to start with
- 6:13Speaker 2: ad because a lot of people all I've never had
- 6:16Speaker 2: a problem with ad A treats me very well.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I don't know why, but people be like, man, Abe's
- 6:22Speaker 1: an asshole.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Fuck e damn A.
- 6:25Speaker 1: What the hell you did the pistols?
- 6:28Speaker 5: You know?
- 6:29Speaker 1: Could you treat me very well?
- 6:30Speaker 4: Let me let me tell you something. It's the nature
- 6:32Speaker 4: of the business.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Okay.
- 6:34Speaker 4: People don't understand the night life is really a business.
- 6:37Speaker 4: I run it as a business, all right. So persaying
- 6:41Speaker 4: you come to the door, I said, yo, you gotta
- 6:44Speaker 4: pay now, I'm an asshole, right, you come to the club.
- 6:51Speaker 4: Let's say if we have some moves on regulation. Yeah, man,
- 6:54Speaker 4: you can't come. You have a dress code where we
- 6:56Speaker 4: have this and that. You're an asshole. You know this business,
- 7:01Speaker 4: you can't have everybody love you otherwise ain't gonna make money.
- 7:05Speaker 4: It's true, you know, so people taking personally, I can
- 7:09Speaker 4: never understood why they think the night life persueing the
- 7:13Speaker 4: club business is just a game. So I usually ask
- 7:16Speaker 4: people say, yo, what do you do for a living?
- 7:17Speaker 4: Blah blah blah. So let me ask you a question.
- 7:19Speaker 4: You work in the store, men's store or you know,
- 7:21Speaker 4: clothing store. If I come there ask give me a
- 7:24Speaker 4: free jeans, will you do it?
- 7:26Speaker 5: No?
- 7:26Speaker 3: I can't.
- 7:26Speaker 4: You know I can't do that. Well, I can't let
- 7:29Speaker 4: you in for free because at the end of the night,
- 7:31Speaker 4: I gotta pay security, I gotta pay DJ, I got expense.
- 7:34Speaker 4: If I'm not gonna make money, you're not gonna stand
- 7:36Speaker 4: there say yo, abe here, let me chip in. You'd
- 7:39Speaker 4: be like I'm out. So when you don't give people
- 7:44Speaker 4: the way they what they want, all of a sudden,
- 7:47Speaker 4: you you know they'll see you as an asshole. So,
- 7:51Speaker 4: like I said, I'm not in this business to be
- 7:54Speaker 4: loved or this. I respect my customers. I love the business,
- 7:59Speaker 4: but I have rules. Regulation. Obey the woos on regulation.
- 8:02Speaker 1: That's it.
- 8:04Speaker 4: Not only if you want to time on this.
- 8:08Speaker 1: I mean when I first met Ad, I thought he
- 8:11Speaker 1: was on some bullshit at first too. I'm gonna keep it,
- 8:15Speaker 1: really I did. But what I learned, what I learned
- 8:18Speaker 1: as I got older, a lot of people don't didn't
- 8:21Speaker 1: respect what we do as a real business. You see
- 8:23Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So, and the difference between me and
- 8:26Speaker 1: him when we came in the game. A lot of
- 8:29Speaker 1: our friends was our core audience at first. Right, So
- 8:33Speaker 1: if I've been letting you in Ferrari since we've been
- 8:35Speaker 1: in school, now you see me like, damn botch you.
- 8:38Speaker 1: I told such such a why can I get in?
- 8:40Speaker 1: So typically I would let that person in. But then
- 8:41Speaker 1: when I learned is it is a business and you
- 8:44Speaker 1: gotta respect this shit as a business. And a lot
- 8:45Speaker 1: of people don't you understand what I'm saying. So, if
- 8:48Speaker 1: you got a party with five hundred people in there
- 8:49Speaker 1: and you don't let in two hundred and fifty people,
- 8:51Speaker 1: you look around, you think you're done, made some money.
- 8:53Speaker 1: At the end of the night, you count the money.
- 8:54Speaker 1: What the fuck you let everybody in free? So what
- 8:57Speaker 1: I learned from Abe and Alex Biddy and people who
- 9:01Speaker 1: are a little bit uh more vetting the game than
- 9:04Speaker 1: I was. You got to treat this shit like a
- 9:05Speaker 1: business from the jump, because at the end of the day,
- 9:09Speaker 1: you don't have to like me, but you can respect me.
- 9:10Speaker 1: And in this game, respect goes further than liking somebody
- 9:14Speaker 1: because you always hear about such owner. Damn, we're finna
- 9:19Speaker 1: go over here, all right, fuck it, we're gonna let
- 9:20Speaker 1: me get my money because I don't even want to
- 9:21Speaker 1: deal with this shit at the door. But then you
- 9:23Speaker 1: got your man party over here. Oh boy, we're good
- 9:25Speaker 1: over here. Were fine at first. I used to be
- 9:28Speaker 1: the you know, the good person, but then you want
- 9:31Speaker 1: to be the respected person because that's how you make
- 9:33Speaker 1: your money. Because guess what, at the end of the day,
- 9:35Speaker 1: two or three years, these people that's coming to your party,
- 9:36Speaker 1: that was your friend, you ain't gonna hear from. They
- 9:38Speaker 1: don't give a fuck about you, you see what I'm saying.
- 9:40Speaker 1: So it's business at the end of the day. So
- 9:42Speaker 1: that's just what it is.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Do you guys think hookah change the way how parties
- 9:49Speaker 2: are because now that I see I see hookahs and
- 9:52Speaker 2: sections more than the dance floor. Does that create more
- 9:56Speaker 2: money for you to get or is the the dance floor.
- 10:01Speaker 1: How do you guys?
- 10:03Speaker 3: You know, the.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Dance floor ran away? So in Atlanta, and correct me
- 10:08Speaker 1: if I'm wrong. The landscape of the music controls the
- 10:11Speaker 1: night life, correct all right? So when you saw a
- 10:14Speaker 1: dance floor in Atlanta clubs, they was making musics where
- 10:18Speaker 1: you were dancing, correct, right. But then when the music
- 10:20Speaker 1: changed and it was less about dancing and it was
- 10:23Speaker 1: more about popping bottles being vip trap music. There you go.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Then the music dictated the way you ran your club,
- 10:30Speaker 1: so it was about vip and buying sections. You understand
- 10:32Speaker 1: what I'm saying. And then the hookahs came into the
- 10:34Speaker 1: game too, and I think, you know, no disrespect. Nowadays
- 10:39Speaker 1: rappers rap about a lot of rap about using the
- 10:41Speaker 1: drugs instead of selling the drugs. You understand what I'm saying.
- 10:44Speaker 1: So the whole night life experience has changed because the
- 10:47Speaker 1: music has changed.
- 10:50Speaker 3: I want to tap into that a little bit. The
- 10:54Speaker 3: consumer controls what happens at the club. You guys have
- 10:57Speaker 3: to know that, right. And so in two thousand and three,
- 11:02Speaker 3: Vision Open. I think that Vision was the greatest, the
- 11:06Speaker 3: greatest thing, and the worst thing all at the same time.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Because prior to Vision, Atlanta has two worlds Atlanta and
- 11:14Speaker 3: then everybody else right, and so people from Atlanta always
- 11:17Speaker 3: partied where they was from south side, west Side, east side,
- 11:20Speaker 3: north side, and then people who transplants who came here
- 11:23Speaker 3: for school work, whatever, they partied Midtown, Buckhead and shit
- 11:27Speaker 3: like that. In two thousand and three were now open Visions.
- 11:30Speaker 3: It was a big club. So it collapsed everybody all
- 11:33Speaker 3: into the same place. And then when he started doing
- 11:36Speaker 3: parties with trappers and Jesus and all that, then it
- 11:39Speaker 3: made people who were south Side, east Side, west Side
- 11:42Speaker 3: who wouldn't come into the city gave him a reason
- 11:44Speaker 3: to come into the city. So after a while, niggas
- 11:47Speaker 3: didn't want to dance no more. They wanted VIP sections.
- 11:50Speaker 3: Even the regular person that had a nine to five
- 11:52Speaker 3: job that it really wasn't for them. They wanted to
- 11:55Speaker 3: be a part of that. They wanted to be in
- 11:57Speaker 3: a section and.
- 11:57Speaker 4: Popet bottom and a Vision we had a days for
- 12:00Speaker 4: actually there was that was that was up there in
- 12:03Speaker 4: the bottom.
- 12:04Speaker 3: But Vision was also the place that had about ninety
- 12:07Speaker 3: VIP sections, and that created a reason for regular people
- 12:12Speaker 3: who never bought VIP sections because prior to Vision, there
- 12:16Speaker 3: was velvet room in the velvet room. There was big
- 12:18Speaker 3: dance floor and VIP sections. Regular people didn't buy sections
- 12:21Speaker 3: in there. Only VIP people bought sections. Football players, basketball players, hustlers.
- 12:26Speaker 3: At Vision nine to five people bought sections.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Okay, And the sections here's the key. The sections was elevated.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Were on the dance floor. I look up, you look
- 12:38Speaker 1: to see who in vi P, and when I'm in
- 12:40Speaker 1: vi P, I look down to see who on the
- 12:42Speaker 1: dance floor. Was that purpose? Okay? If I'm if I'm
- 12:48Speaker 1: gonna pay extra, I need to be seen and the
- 12:51Speaker 1: people that see me gonna be below me, so that
- 12:54Speaker 1: you know that's that's just how it is.
- 12:57Speaker 4: Let me break it down from my point of view, okay,
- 12:58Speaker 4: And I'm gonna break it down from both from the
- 13:02Speaker 4: club owner's side and from the customer side.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:06Speaker 4: The night life people keep saying, I know we're from Atlanta,
- 13:09Speaker 4: we talk about a land. As far as nightlife, I'll
- 13:10Speaker 4: be honest with you, the night life is dying all over.
- 13:13Speaker 4: You know you guys have some club owners elsewhere. Let
- 13:17Speaker 4: me tell your slow blah blah blah. Part of it
- 13:19Speaker 4: could be financial. People don't have money. In Europe. A
- 13:22Speaker 4: lot of big clubs are closing down there. They're blaming
- 13:25Speaker 4: the social media. They were saying, a lot of young
- 13:26Speaker 4: people don't want to go to the clubs no more.
- 13:28Speaker 4: They would rather stay on the social media.
- 13:30Speaker 1: That's what I hear.
- 13:30Speaker 4: Yeah, a lot of clubs is shutting down as far
- 13:33Speaker 4: as here home. Club owners. Let me tell you from
- 13:38Speaker 4: what I've seen club owners. First things first, they don't
- 13:43Speaker 4: want they don't wrun the business like business right. Two,
- 13:48Speaker 4: they forgot the customer service. They don't give no customer service.
- 13:53Speaker 4: Talk about three gouging they think. You know, there are
- 13:58Speaker 4: a lot of club owners just got into the clubs
- 14:02Speaker 4: because Atlanta is probably one of the easiest place you
- 14:04Speaker 4: can get a liquor license. I can go find a building,
- 14:08Speaker 4: slap some painting, some lights, put some sofas, sound system,
- 14:13Speaker 4: you know, go get a liquor license. If I can't
- 14:16Speaker 4: get a liquor license to the nightclub, I can get
- 14:17Speaker 4: a liquor license, a restaurant license, open it and running
- 14:19Speaker 4: at the club, parking ownership charging people forty fifty sixty
- 14:25Speaker 4: dollars to part.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Yeah, that's crazy.
- 14:26Speaker 4: Okay. When I say club owners, let me include the staff.
- 14:32Speaker 4: The staff they don't get enough training. How to handle
- 14:35Speaker 4: the customer, give them customer service. DJs, they don't care
- 14:41Speaker 4: about their art. They come and just play whatever they
- 14:45Speaker 4: want to play, this and this and that. That's from
- 14:47Speaker 4: that part. Now let me take you from the customer
- 14:50Speaker 4: point of view. The customers are confused. They don't know
- 14:53Speaker 4: what the fuck they want. They don't come to the
- 14:56Speaker 4: clubs to party anymore. Like but you say, partially, I
- 14:59Speaker 4: think the problem the music. The music has been coming
- 15:02Speaker 4: out the last what five six years, ten ten years?
- 15:06Speaker 1: He gave a party to it.
- 15:07Speaker 4: That's why if you noticed a lot of R and
- 15:10Speaker 4: B NICs are getting popular now in the city because
- 15:13Speaker 4: you can dance to it. That's true, okay. And the
- 15:16Speaker 4: customer don't know what they want. They want to come
- 15:19Speaker 4: to your club one o'clock just to party for one hour.
- 15:24Speaker 1: That shit is crazy, you know it's crazy.
- 15:26Speaker 4: I mean Jamin the pre dot to Day posted something saying, YO,
- 15:29Speaker 4: can you please if you book me from now as
- 15:31Speaker 4: a DJ, see if the crowd can come there twelve o'clock.
- 15:35Speaker 3: So he told him book me for twelve thirty. I
- 15:37Speaker 3: want to be on d don't put me to DJ,
- 15:39Speaker 3: that's what he says.
- 15:40Speaker 4: He's right, people show me Yo, when I opened the
- 15:44Speaker 4: door ten o'clock from ten to midnight, twelve thirty is nothing.
- 15:48Speaker 4: So you know I have a saying like, oh shit,
- 15:51Speaker 4: the airplane landed. It's like, you feel like everybody's coming
- 15:54Speaker 4: out the same time.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Yeah, So it goes back to my point again. You
- 15:58Speaker 3: know why that is because every body wants to be
- 16:00Speaker 3: VI and P. I keep telling you, when the opportunity
- 16:04Speaker 3: came for a regular person to feel like he was special,
- 16:07Speaker 3: they wanted to op all the way in. The regular
- 16:10Speaker 3: person doesn't come to the club. He don't have to
- 16:12Speaker 3: have no money. He not coming to one thirty.
- 16:14Speaker 1: The fuck you doing that?
- 16:15Speaker 3: You need to be there.
- 16:16Speaker 4: Tenure your promoters, your promoters. When we used to promote
- 16:24Speaker 4: to be at the we used to shop a nine
- 16:25Speaker 4: thirty the club. Make sure everything's right, make sure the
- 16:28Speaker 4: sound is there, make sure the DJ's there. Boom boom boom.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Opened the door. Now you promoters, they don't be shop
- 16:34Speaker 4: up to one o'clock and like, yo, yeah, celebrity, you're
- 16:38Speaker 4: just walking.
- 16:38Speaker 1: To be honest with you, though, the difference between when
- 16:42Speaker 1: you started, you started, even when I started, and now
- 16:44Speaker 1: is two things. The main one is saturated and what
- 16:48Speaker 1: I'm saying, is all the promoters ex promoters in Atlanta
- 16:52Speaker 1: are owners now right, True, that's number one. So it's
- 16:55Speaker 1: too many clubs. It's too like when I was going
- 16:57Speaker 1: to Visions and buying sections. You went to Visions on
- 17:00Speaker 1: this day. You went here on this day. You didn't
- 17:02Speaker 1: have a bunch of options. But the biggest thing that
- 17:06Speaker 1: you I think you said it. The biggest thing is
- 17:08Speaker 1: social media. I'm gonna break the shit down back in
- 17:10Speaker 1: the day, right, in order to be seen, in order
- 17:13Speaker 1: to see what's going on, in order to hear from somebody,
- 17:16Speaker 1: you gotta be there. You ain't come last night. But
- 17:19Speaker 1: now with social media, right, you can see it. Everything
- 17:22Speaker 1: in the part of your hand.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Saw what you missed last night.
- 17:24Speaker 1: So I was just talking to this lady and she
- 17:26Speaker 1: was telling me about how her son goes in his
- 17:28Speaker 1: room and don't come out. I said, my son do
- 17:31Speaker 1: the same thing. I said, wy, he gotta come out though,
- 17:33Speaker 1: because everything he needs is in his hand. If you
- 17:35Speaker 1: ain't go to the party last night, you can see
- 17:37Speaker 1: it on social media. If you want to see what
- 17:39Speaker 1: Ferrari was wearing last night, you can go to your Instagram.
- 17:41Speaker 1: You see what I'm saying, if you want to see
- 17:42Speaker 1: what everybody's talking about, you visit a blog site. Back
- 17:45Speaker 1: in the day, you ain't have to do that. You
- 17:46Speaker 1: had to be there. You don't got to be there
- 17:48Speaker 1: now because it's all in your hand. That's what's really
- 17:50Speaker 1: killing night life. And nowadays less is more. So you
- 17:56Speaker 1: want to be in intimate settings, Like when I go out,
- 17:59Speaker 1: I don't want to go out where it's two hundred
- 18:01Speaker 1: people on my back smelling like weed. I gotta stand
- 18:04Speaker 1: in fucking line. Like you don't want to do that ship.
- 18:06Speaker 1: You want to go somewherehere it's cool and where say
- 18:08Speaker 1: it's somebody. You see what I'm saying, Less it's more.
- 18:13Speaker 1: That's why we got saws. It's a small lounge because
- 18:16Speaker 1: that big ship is dead. Like nobody want to be there.
- 18:19Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying is to be honest right now,
- 18:22Speaker 1: no shade. The people who really club like for real
- 18:25Speaker 1: are young people or people who don't people who haven't
- 18:29Speaker 1: experienced it before. You know what I'm saying. Even y'all,
- 18:31Speaker 1: Like y'all was here when Jeezi was throwing parties, being
- 18:34Speaker 1: math parties or whatever you want to call it that era.
- 18:38Speaker 4: It's like every generation things change.
- 18:44Speaker 1: This generation changed technology now is like's I give you
- 18:51Speaker 1: all example, these motherfuckers was coming out with silent parties, bro,
- 18:55Speaker 1: you remember that that was the thing, a silent parties.
- 18:59Speaker 1: So just to think about a motherfucker coming to the club,
- 19:02Speaker 1: give you some headphones and everybody's partying and we're not
- 19:05Speaker 1: talking to nobody. What the fuck is that? But at
- 19:08Speaker 1: the same time, that's what that's that's what we had
- 19:11Speaker 1: it though.
- 19:12Speaker 2: I will remember one time I'll never forget. It was
- 19:14Speaker 2: a New Year's E party I was hosting, and everybody
- 19:18Speaker 2: in the.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Club was on their phone exactly they were.
- 19:22Speaker 2: People were having a good time, but people were like
- 19:24Speaker 2: this having a good time, and I was like, damn,
- 19:29Speaker 2: put the phones down.
- 19:31Speaker 1: All the people that's on their phone, they're making it
- 19:33Speaker 1: easier for the motherfucker people.
- 19:35Speaker 4: What's going on?
- 19:35Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 19:36Speaker 4: But you makes you antisocial?
- 19:40Speaker 6: Everybody's anti social, Like even like thinking about this means.
- 19:44Speaker 1: That's why, that's why there's the merge of social media.
- 19:47Speaker 1: You don't got to be you don't got to be social.
- 19:49Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. You like the girl, you
- 19:51Speaker 1: won't say nothing to it, but you're gonna like a
- 19:52Speaker 1: you're gonna like a post, but you don't have.
- 19:55Speaker 3: To talk to face to face, face to face the
- 19:58Speaker 3: other way.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Guess what she can deny you. She can deny you
- 20:01Speaker 1: on technology, you good. But if you tell you to
- 20:03Speaker 1: your face, like, man, what the fuck? I ain't talking
- 20:04Speaker 1: to you? Yeah, you're saying that shit hit different, you
- 20:07Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. But if you don't get a
- 20:08Speaker 1: reply on the DM and you don DM one hundred girls,
- 20:11Speaker 1: as long as you get two or three back, you good.
- 20:13Speaker 1: You see what I'm saying. But if you won't go
- 20:15Speaker 1: out and talk to one hundred girls, see what I'm saying.
- 20:17Speaker 1: So that's, in my opinion, that's really what it is.
- 20:20Speaker 4: Shit all the time of niggas do know how to
- 20:21Speaker 4: talk to girls? Ain't?
- 20:23Speaker 5: Well?
- 20:23Speaker 6: You know what I've noticed just this past years, I've
- 20:26Speaker 6: noticed it used to be like where people would go
- 20:28Speaker 6: to the club and they'll be happy to bring ten
- 20:31Speaker 6: fifteen girls to the club.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Now I'm like.
- 20:34Speaker 3: Man, where y'all where y'all girls at?
- 20:36Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
- 20:37Speaker 3: Like dudes in a section with seven eight dudes? I'm like,
- 20:40Speaker 3: where y'all girls at?
- 20:42Speaker 1: You know what that means though?
- 20:43Speaker 4: Right?
- 20:43Speaker 3: Tell me, huh cool, they can't afford it.
- 20:47Speaker 1: That's what I said. Hit me out, Hit me out.
- 20:48Speaker 4: Hear me out.
- 20:49Speaker 1: If the dudes with the bag, he can buy the
- 20:52Speaker 1: section by himself and control who comes in the section.
- 20:55Speaker 1: When you see eight hundred people over there, ten of
- 20:57Speaker 1: them split a thousand dollars, You understand what I'm saying.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Second section two thousand, You got ten tim boys put
- 21:04Speaker 1: up two hundred dollars a piece. Now you have to
- 21:06Speaker 1: do a crime for extra risbands because it's a sausage
- 21:08Speaker 1: party in your section. I mean, that's the truth all
- 21:11Speaker 1: about you.
- 21:12Speaker 4: But you know, hear me at the bars people, you
- 21:19Speaker 4: have to get this mind. You don't have to be
- 21:22Speaker 4: in the section as you do. No hall, no things
- 21:26Speaker 4: have to change them. You have to be You don't
- 21:27Speaker 4: have to be in the section.
- 21:28Speaker 1: It ain't about what you say. It's about the females.
- 21:30Speaker 1: The female is not gonna talk to by sitting at
- 21:32Speaker 1: the bar. And this is what I'm saying. She wanted
- 21:35Speaker 1: the god buying boles.
- 21:37Speaker 4: For real, for real, you can come to a club
- 21:41Speaker 4: if you don't have a section post off by the bar.
- 21:44Speaker 4: He was crazy. You don't have it. You can't afford
- 21:46Speaker 4: it right, meet one girl, buy a couple of drinks
- 21:50Speaker 4: and just talk to her.
- 21:51Speaker 1: That's true.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Let me say something real quick. I was raised.
- 21:54Speaker 2: I was raised, and I feel like I have really
- 21:56Speaker 2: good o g's around me.
- 21:57Speaker 1: B it b in one of them.
- 21:58Speaker 2: I was raised and talk that a party is ran
- 22:01Speaker 2: and circulated around women. I feel like if they show up,
- 22:06Speaker 2: if you cater to them, it's going to create a
- 22:09Speaker 2: great atmosphere for everyone to have.
- 22:12Speaker 4: It supposed to be.
- 22:13Speaker 1: That's how it's supposed. That's why he said, the R
- 22:16Speaker 1: and B parties is working like. That's why when we
- 22:19Speaker 1: were doing Cassette, right, the whole thing Hannah created and
- 22:23Speaker 1: Kenny Burns we created Cassette was to give you an
- 22:26Speaker 1: experience about something that you had back in the day.
- 22:29Speaker 1: That's why the artists were artists, Nostalion artists. That's why
- 22:32Speaker 1: it was really about R and B. Mostly because if
- 22:35Speaker 1: the women have a good time, everybody else is gonna
- 22:37Speaker 1: have a good to go. And so if the women's
- 22:38Speaker 1: on the dance floor singing, dancing or doing whatever, then
- 22:42Speaker 1: the guy's gonna come too. If it's an R and
- 22:43Speaker 1: B party, you can't look all that tough at the
- 22:45Speaker 1: R and B party, You singing fucking Jodsy. You understand
- 22:48Speaker 1: what I'm saying, So which one is it? So what
- 22:49Speaker 1: I'm saying is the art not real? So the R
- 22:52Speaker 1: and B party, if it's done right, it's supposed to
- 22:55Speaker 1: create that atmosphere where everybody's having a good time.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Give me, that's the most fun parties now be because
- 23:00Speaker 2: it's just.
- 23:01Speaker 1: But when you got and you drinking, what do you
- 23:05Speaker 1: start doing? Start singing exactly and.
- 23:08Speaker 6: You socialize, you have you have a good time. But
- 23:10Speaker 6: I don't like these fake R and B parties. And
- 23:12Speaker 6: when I'm talking about these fake R B parties, they
- 23:15Speaker 6: say it's.
- 23:15Speaker 3: An R and B part and then they play and
- 23:17Speaker 3: you go, where's.
- 23:20Speaker 1: R and B? We played?
- 23:21Speaker 6: Y'all play trap for two hours and play R and
- 23:23Speaker 6: B for thirty minutes and get us to walk through
- 23:25Speaker 6: the door.
- 23:25Speaker 4: Because you know, you know what a lot of DJs,
- 23:27Speaker 4: there's not a lot of DJs that's call R and
- 23:30Speaker 4: B all night long?
- 23:31Speaker 3: Can the djna have a real deep bad who.
- 23:34Speaker 4: Got music knowledge and you know in those music.
- 23:37Speaker 1: But Atlanta now is not a club times a restaurant time, yo.
- 23:41Speaker 3: So let's said that, But let's also do this right.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Another big problem is that promoters don't know the role
- 23:49Speaker 3: of what a promoter is supposed to be and.
- 23:51Speaker 4: Do what existence.
- 23:54Speaker 3: So that's that that.
- 23:59Speaker 4: You owner, don't say that what no, no, what I
- 24:02Speaker 4: about say. There's some a lot of them. Let me
- 24:05Speaker 4: rephrase it, a lot of them. They call themselves a
- 24:07Speaker 4: promoter promoter.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:10Speaker 4: Let me tell you one of my promoters, I told
- 24:12Speaker 4: you this by good night, right, one of my promoters.
- 24:14Speaker 4: Usually what promoters that we give them, you know, copp hookah,
- 24:18Speaker 4: com bottles. I saw promoter my surrounded with girls any section,
- 24:25Speaker 4: smoking the hookah, doing drinking the bottles and on Instagram.
- 24:32Speaker 4: So I called him. I said, listen, the house is
- 24:34Speaker 4: almost full. Go around shape. People say thank you for
- 24:37Speaker 4: coming me some new people.
- 24:38Speaker 1: So for now, people don't do that.
- 24:40Speaker 4: You know what he told me, I don't know a promoter.
- 24:42Speaker 4: I told him, what are you? He said, I'm lifestyle specialist.
- 24:46Speaker 4: Oh ship, I don't know what that ship means? I said,
- 24:49Speaker 4: Kenny birds. Kenny has a right to say that. So
- 24:57Speaker 4: that's when I say, Yo, these people came to support you. Yes,
- 25:03Speaker 4: but at least at least he can do is just
- 25:05Speaker 4: go around, you know, give him some data. Thank you
- 25:08Speaker 4: for coming out, blah blah blah, and go back to
- 25:10Speaker 4: your seat.
- 25:11Speaker 3: So let me, I'm gonna say something. Hey, can you
- 25:14Speaker 3: be man? Can we be mad? Right? This is the
- 25:16Speaker 3: truth and this is the super truth. Maybe, right, just
- 25:20Speaker 3: maybe that the early promoters worked so hard and did
- 25:24Speaker 3: the job so well that people wanted to be promoters,
- 25:28Speaker 3: not to be promoters, just to get the look that promoters. God,
- 25:31Speaker 3: they could care less about the business, they could care
- 25:34Speaker 3: less about the money, but maybe they wanted to look
- 25:36Speaker 3: so they can get girls and attention and stuff like that.
- 25:39Speaker 3: Because for all intense purposes where I come from, promoters,
- 25:43Speaker 3: you have three elements. Right, If you got a couple
- 25:45Speaker 3: people on your team, somebody's the cool guy that attracts
- 25:48Speaker 3: the people truth, and then you got the guy that
- 25:50Speaker 3: handles the business. And then then you got the guy
- 25:52Speaker 3: that's willing to do whatever it takes to make sure
- 25:55Speaker 3: that the event runs right. During the process. Now it's
- 25:57Speaker 3: just people. They're not do people not putting up there
- 26:00Speaker 3: money to do parties no more. They work with the club.
- 26:02Speaker 3: Somebody's handling in and they're just waiting for a little payout. Hey,
- 26:05Speaker 3: oh you got two twenty here's two seventy for you,
- 26:07Speaker 3: here's two fifty. You can't sustain off that, so you
- 26:10Speaker 3: got to go get a job.
- 26:11Speaker 4: No, you know what I think the problem the art
- 26:14Speaker 4: of promotion. The generation never passed it to the next
- 26:18Speaker 4: generation and then changed. No, social media has changed it
- 26:27Speaker 4: old my guys, how many flyers have you done? How
- 26:29Speaker 4: many fliers now? Social media? It's like you say, it's
- 26:32Speaker 4: a click away, you know, but the being more personal,
- 26:38Speaker 4: That's what I was going to say, thinking the customer, what's.
- 26:42Speaker 3: Wrong with that?
- 26:44Speaker 1: But y'all, y'all are both of y'all are right. What
- 26:46Speaker 1: it is is it's saturated one. So when it's so
- 26:49Speaker 1: much of the same thing, people do less. And also
- 26:52Speaker 1: when when when I was promoting, I'm sure when you
- 26:55Speaker 1: guys were promoting, there was a personal element to it,
- 26:58Speaker 1: like you pass out a flyer or you text or
- 27:01Speaker 1: call up person you see what I'm saying. But now
- 27:03Speaker 1: I can post it on my page and you see
- 27:05Speaker 1: it and then you come versus me personally inviting you
- 27:08Speaker 1: to something that dove Like, listen, if you go to
- 27:11Speaker 1: my page and you saw an event I was doing,
- 27:13Speaker 1: you be like, damn, I might come. But if I
- 27:14Speaker 1: call you like, Rari, hey, I really need you at
- 27:17Speaker 1: my spot, or if I drive to your studio or
- 27:19Speaker 1: your office or whatever, and I'll hand you an invitation, like, bro,
- 27:21Speaker 1: I need you here. That needs exactly when it was,
- 27:26Speaker 1: you know, the days they talking about That's what people
- 27:28Speaker 1: was doing. You do that though, And it wasn't that
- 27:32Speaker 1: many parties, bro. So if I miss Biddy's party at
- 27:36Speaker 1: Velvet Room or ABS party at s O or whoever
- 27:39Speaker 1: you want to call it, you know or bot you
- 27:41Speaker 1: certified college reunion party. If I missed that event, I
- 27:44Speaker 1: may not get to go to that event again for
- 27:45Speaker 1: the next few months or the next year. You see
- 27:47Speaker 1: what I'm saying. But when it's every week, it's the
- 27:49Speaker 1: same shit, it's the same. You're not doing nothing, you
- 27:53Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. And original We partied so early,
- 27:58Speaker 1: for so long. By the time I started my freshman
- 28:03Speaker 1: in college, right by the time I graduated college, I
- 28:06Speaker 1: was damn that partied out because we part I was nineteen,
- 28:11Speaker 1: listen to me, So you was tired of it, right,
- 28:14Speaker 1: and so most of our generation, no matter if you're
- 28:18Speaker 1: in your fifties, your forties, or your late thirties, they
- 28:20Speaker 1: partied a lot in their twenties. So now they want
- 28:22Speaker 1: something different, especially when it's everybody doing it like damn,
- 28:26Speaker 1: he doing party too, Yo, I gotta do something else
- 28:28Speaker 1: like this, motherfuck god, it's too much. So now you
- 28:31Speaker 1: want something different, you know what I'm saying. And so
- 28:33Speaker 1: in Atlanta, the restaurants is more of an experience. Guess what.
- 28:36Speaker 1: You can go to the restaurant. You can eat good,
- 28:38Speaker 1: you can drink, catch a vibe, catch a vibe, and
- 28:40Speaker 1: a lot of them got DJs, and you're gonna get
- 28:42Speaker 1: better customer service to parking is cheaper. And that's saying listen,
- 28:47Speaker 1: that's same two fifty two hundred dollars budget you had
- 28:50Speaker 1: to go to the club. Oh, now you're doing something.
- 28:51Speaker 4: You full, you full.
- 28:53Speaker 1: You can gut some drinks and something for everybody.
- 28:55Speaker 2: And this is a good one. What dictates or what
- 28:59Speaker 2: determines hang the DJ the fee that.
- 29:01Speaker 1: They want.
- 29:04Speaker 3: Brand value meaning that you you know that the DJ
- 29:08Speaker 3: one when he posts it and he puts it on
- 29:10Speaker 3: his page, his followers are gonna pay attention to that. Two.
- 29:13Speaker 3: He doesn't just DJ at the club, He actually sits
- 29:16Speaker 3: in the space that is his own. That you're like, nah,
- 29:19Speaker 3: if you want somebody you call what's his name? For
- 29:21Speaker 3: that he's a specialist. He ain't just Oh yeah, I
- 29:24Speaker 3: could DJ reggae party, or I could DJ your hip
- 29:26Speaker 3: hop party, or I could DJ R and B party,
- 29:29Speaker 3: or your afrobeats. I could do that too, But what
- 29:31Speaker 3: is your specialty? What do you do?
- 29:33Speaker 5: Great?
- 29:34Speaker 4: You know Beddy what's her name? Posted regarding the dj
- 29:37Speaker 4: you know jan thing that day. Half of the DJs
- 29:40Speaker 4: they don't even post where they gonna be at. They
- 29:44Speaker 4: don't even promote where they're gonna be at. Okay, and
- 29:47Speaker 4: at the same token to I blame ownership. You know,
- 29:50Speaker 4: they used to be from New York. There were some
- 29:52Speaker 4: DJs that die hard followers, Oh what's his Name's gonna
- 29:55Speaker 4: be here? S and That's gonna be here, Kick gonna
- 29:57Speaker 4: be here, Flex's gonna be here, Social is gonna be
- 29:59Speaker 4: here Atlanta. The DJs never bothered to promote it themselves.
- 30:04Speaker 4: At the same token, ownership never bothered to promote the DJs. So,
- 30:10Speaker 4: as a DJ, as your name is your brand, you
- 30:13Speaker 4: have to create your own brand and you followers and
- 30:16Speaker 4: when you DJing, true t be told take it as
- 30:21Speaker 4: your skills. It's amazing how even though mind you most
- 30:26Speaker 4: of them. Some of them are producers. It's amazing how
- 30:28Speaker 4: the d M DJs they get paid fifty sixty seventy
- 30:31Speaker 4: thousand dollars a night, and our hip hop DJs don't
- 30:34Speaker 4: get but they don't get me call them and they
- 30:39Speaker 4: produce the ADM DJ is produced. But there's a lot
- 30:42Speaker 4: of DJs. Some DJs they don't take it seriously. They
- 30:46Speaker 4: don't take the art, meaning they have to probably DJ
- 30:50Speaker 4: every night because the pay is not that great. When
- 30:53Speaker 4: they DJ every night, they got the same set. I've seen.
- 30:58Speaker 6: I hate that when you know, when you know, okay,
- 31:00Speaker 6: he's about to play this, and then what time is it?
- 31:02Speaker 1: Oh, oh, he's about to play this.
- 31:06Speaker 4: I want to hear. I've seen DJs to my nigga. Listen,
- 31:10Speaker 4: they put a record on, put the hook on their mouth,
- 31:15Speaker 4: play all the way today switch I should yo, he's
- 31:22Speaker 4: not lying.
- 31:31Speaker 5: You know, they get on the mic shape I need
- 31:33Speaker 5: to refeel on chocold.
- 31:37Speaker 1: And that's disrespectful, bro, But listen, listen. He's right though.
- 31:46Speaker 1: But at the same time, hey, DJ actually has to
- 31:49Speaker 1: play good music, you know what I'm saying, Like, that's
- 31:51Speaker 1: what's gonna make a mother. I know listen what I'm saying.
- 31:55Speaker 1: First of all, in the DJ's defense. When the DJ
- 31:58Speaker 1: and this no shade towards you or whoever. When the
- 32:01Speaker 1: DJ gets paid what he's supposed to get paid, he's
- 32:03Speaker 1: gonna do everything you want him to do. Half the
- 32:05Speaker 1: time they taking pay cuts. So when I take a
- 32:08Speaker 1: pay cut, you're not gonna get my full It's just
- 32:10Speaker 1: like an artist. You want me to perform, or you
- 32:13Speaker 1: paying me to walk through. So if you pay me
- 32:14Speaker 1: a walk through price, I'm not touching the mike. But
- 32:16Speaker 1: if you give me my rate for my show, then
- 32:18Speaker 1: I'm gonna give you everything that you want.
- 32:21Speaker 3: That's number one. Number two, No, I want you to
- 32:23Speaker 3: stop on one. I want to respond to number one.
- 32:25Speaker 3: So I want to talk about DJ Casher. I don't
- 32:27Speaker 3: want to throw you off.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Hold your ahead.
- 32:29Speaker 3: If you're a DJ, you believe in yourself, don't take
- 32:31Speaker 3: the rate you don't like, don't take it. Dje my man.
- 32:38Speaker 3: I watched him and he was like bitty Alice, offering
- 32:42Speaker 3: too little. I don't want that, I need this much money,
- 32:45Speaker 3: he said, Nah, I don't. I'm not taking that truth truth.
- 32:52Speaker 1: No, he's right here, take the money. He went his
- 32:56Speaker 1: own way.
- 32:56Speaker 3: And look at him.
- 32:57Speaker 1: That's true, But that goes back to what I say
- 33:00Speaker 1: when you when you pay a DJ with what he's supposed
- 33:01Speaker 1: to you're gonna get out of him what you're supposed
- 33:03Speaker 1: to get. That's number one and number two, some of
- 33:05Speaker 1: these motherfuckers ain't real DJs, you know what I'm saying.
- 33:08Speaker 1: And then at the same time, niggas, shame on you
- 33:10Speaker 1: if you gonna pay this motherfucker and you're gonna allow
- 33:12Speaker 1: him Abe Washington, who don't play ship allow him to
- 33:16Speaker 1: smoke that who can play them records? He shouldn't have
- 33:18Speaker 1: been djning next year.
- 33:19Speaker 4: But the problem is batching most of them do.
- 33:23Speaker 1: What I'm saying is if he's smoking hookah and he's
- 33:27Speaker 1: not doing his job correctly, and it's not good because
- 33:32Speaker 1: guess what, I ain't seen Mars smoking, no God DJ smoking,
- 33:36Speaker 1: no hooka up there right, No, that's cat. I ain't
- 33:38Speaker 1: seen Cass smoking.
- 33:40Speaker 6: But you gotta understand you get what you pay for,
- 33:42Speaker 6: and that's what a lot of people did.
- 33:43Speaker 1: I'm making. Yeah, that's it.
- 33:45Speaker 6: And a lot of those DJs they take the low
- 33:47Speaker 6: price because they.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Jing five times a week, that's all they got, sometimes
- 33:51Speaker 2: three times in one night exactly.
- 33:53Speaker 1: So you if you cut your if you dilute your
- 33:56Speaker 1: brand right, and you going with you know, I'm going
- 33:59Speaker 1: over uh quantity versus quality. If that's your if that's
- 34:02Speaker 1: what you want to do, then that's what you're gonna get. Yeah,
- 34:04Speaker 1: you see what I'm saying.
- 34:05Speaker 3: The worstman state you can make in the space is
- 34:07Speaker 3: chase the money.
- 34:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Yeah. See a lot of people don't understand this is
- 34:11Speaker 1: business too, a lot of people. And it's gonna go
- 34:12Speaker 1: back to club owners a lot of people. And I'm
- 34:15Speaker 1: in the financial space a little bit, so I can
- 34:16Speaker 1: see this. A lot of people don't understand how business works,
- 34:19Speaker 1: and a lot of people do things they can't afford
- 34:20Speaker 1: to do. You understand what I'm saying. It's like, so
- 34:23Speaker 1: when you're a club, when you're a club owner, restaurant own,
- 34:25Speaker 1: or lounge owner, right when you open your business a
- 34:29Speaker 1: you're supposed to raise or get enough money to where
- 34:33Speaker 1: the business can run itself. You can't try to live
- 34:35Speaker 1: off the business at first, because when you try to
- 34:37Speaker 1: live off the business, you compromise the business and grow
- 34:40Speaker 1: for financial gain. So sometimes if you got an investment
- 34:44Speaker 1: and I don't know if the lounge costs two hundred
- 34:47Speaker 1: and fifty thousand dollars, and you get up two hundred
- 34:49Speaker 1: and fifty thousand dollars, you think you made it. No motherfucker.
- 34:52Speaker 1: You got to keep enough money in that account that
- 34:54Speaker 1: if that bitch closed for three four months, you're still okay.
- 34:57Speaker 1: That's what people don't realize, because it takes time to
- 35:00Speaker 1: grow a business anything sort of like a DJ too,
- 35:02Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying.
- 35:02Speaker 3: So these are vanity businesses, and we don't realize that
- 35:05Speaker 3: these are businesses that most people don't take on till
- 35:08Speaker 3: after they're super successful.
- 35:10Speaker 1: And at the end of the day, you're an entrepreneur.
- 35:12Speaker 1: You're an entrepreneur. But we all entrepreneurs, right, but nobody
- 35:16Speaker 1: really sat us down and told us how to start
- 35:19Speaker 1: a business, how to run a business, and and how
- 35:22Speaker 1: you're supposed to properly do that business. So sometimes you
- 35:25Speaker 1: jump into something and don't know what's hell you doing.
- 35:27Speaker 1: That's why a lot of these owners, you know, they
- 35:29Speaker 1: place be open and they ain't be close tomorrow because
- 35:31Speaker 1: they don't they living off the land.
- 35:34Speaker 6: And one of the things that I want to say
- 35:36Speaker 6: is that, yeah, you're living off the land. It's like
- 35:38Speaker 6: I just want to know the difference with this parking,
- 35:40Speaker 6: because this parking is a big deal. Why would you
- 35:42Speaker 6: go to an urban club it's sixty dollars apart, sometime
- 35:46Speaker 6: one hundred dollars apart. Then if you go to like
- 35:49Speaker 6: a you know, an EDM club ten dollars.
- 35:52Speaker 1: The part to answer that because we pay the shit
- 35:55Speaker 1: if we all came to that spot, that club, that venue,
- 35:58Speaker 1: the two three hundred people showing up, five hundred people, Yeah,
- 36:01Speaker 1: we're not paying here, we're not paying the parking ship.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Guess what that should have changed tomorrow, because if you
- 36:05Speaker 1: went to a Caucasian event and you told them, motherfucker's
- 36:08Speaker 1: fifty two hundred dollars, they're gonna make you turn. They're
- 36:10Speaker 1: gonna hardy.
- 36:12Speaker 4: You know you people forgot when I first moved here.
- 36:16Speaker 1: But it's not always the club owner. Though they both
- 36:19Speaker 1: own places to their own places, it's not always a
- 36:21Speaker 1: club own it because in Atlanta, the way it works,
- 36:24Speaker 1: when you get when you get a building in Atlanta,
- 36:26Speaker 1: you don't necessarily own the parking lot. Get somebody else
- 36:29Speaker 1: owns the parking lot.
- 36:31Speaker 4: By bout you the same token you can as a
- 36:33Speaker 4: club owner. You can go to the it might work,
- 36:35Speaker 4: might not work. You can people say, hey, listen, we're
- 36:39Speaker 4: not gonna get no customers because we're overcharging. So hopefully
- 36:44Speaker 4: the parking owners will understand and bring the price down,
- 36:48Speaker 4: because otherwise both of you gonna lose. Ain't gonna be
- 36:52Speaker 4: no customers. You ain't goddamn money.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't be understanding that, because like when we did,
- 36:55Speaker 1: a lot of times they get he ain't gonna tell
- 36:57Speaker 1: you all. Sometimes the owners get a cut.
- 37:00Speaker 6: And that's what I figured because we when we moved
- 37:02Speaker 6: to our news space for R and B Wednesday, and
- 37:05Speaker 6: when I got there, the valet guy to know me,
- 37:07Speaker 6: he was like, yo, sixty dollars. I said, why are
- 37:09Speaker 6: you charging sixty dollars of a place that nobody ever
- 37:11Speaker 6: been in?
- 37:12Speaker 3: Here?
- 37:13Speaker 4: Ya, i'n tell everybody go. I don't want to name
- 37:15Speaker 4: a club. I've been to a club they try to
- 37:17Speaker 4: charge me on the street. On the street, I said, Yo,
- 37:20Speaker 4: this city of Atlanta, probably how the fuck you want
- 37:22Speaker 4: to charge me? And they're backed off.
- 37:24Speaker 1: I know the wolves, I know what club you're talking about.
- 37:27Speaker 4: I don't want the club they want to I know.
- 37:31Speaker 1: But they suffering too. A lot of these valet companies
- 37:34Speaker 1: a lot of the they suffer because everybody's catching ubers
- 37:37Speaker 1: or they got smart.
- 37:38Speaker 4: Man, I don't.
- 37:39Speaker 6: I don't believe in the valets at the club, man,
- 37:41Speaker 6: unless somebody go part their car and walk to the club.
- 37:44Speaker 3: Why are you charging people sixty dollars door?
- 37:48Speaker 4: Don't pay it because I remember when I first moved
- 37:50Speaker 4: here in Atlanta, when they used to boot your car.
- 37:53Speaker 4: They used to charge you according to your car. If
- 37:55Speaker 4: you're driving your Bench, they'll tell you two fifty. If
- 37:58Speaker 4: you're driving a Honda, you will charge you this much.
- 38:01Speaker 4: Then eventually the city complaint and the mayor.
- 38:08Speaker 3: Listen, I remember when you didn't have to pay the
- 38:10Speaker 3: park nowhere, and I'm talking about you.
- 38:14Speaker 1: But you know what everything it's a lot of money
- 38:15Speaker 1: in Atlanta to though. So a lot of these V
- 38:18Speaker 1: I P customers you talking about, they got nice cars.
- 38:20Speaker 1: So when your car nice, I do want to pay
- 38:22Speaker 1: and park again? Guess what? I want to guess what front.
- 38:24Speaker 1: Guess what When that customer is talking to that girl
- 38:28Speaker 1: right and they get out the club, it's cold outside,
- 38:31Speaker 1: and she walked right in his car. You know that's
- 38:34Speaker 1: better than oh man, I parked, Wait.
- 38:35Speaker 4: You park without when the club put a shiny car
- 38:40Speaker 4: in the front looks it's a good look.
- 38:41Speaker 1: It's a good look. And guess right, I don't know
- 38:44Speaker 1: what y'all drive, but it's somebody in this in this
- 38:46Speaker 1: made bag or this Rosworth's truck or his bends that's
- 38:49Speaker 1: willing to pay the park in the front. And that's
- 38:51Speaker 1: okay because that's for those people. So if you got
- 38:54Speaker 1: ten space, you say, look everywhere it's free, but these
- 38:57Speaker 1: spaces right here. But that's just like sixty to park
- 39:01Speaker 1: in a bag and to park in the front, it's
- 39:03Speaker 1: a hundred.
- 39:05Speaker 3: What So people tell you go to Atlanta, you can
- 39:08Speaker 3: get rich. That's that's all. This is what y'all are
- 39:12Speaker 3: talking about. It's everywhere you turn, someone's trying to price
- 39:15Speaker 3: guard somebody for something. A bunch of black people on
- 39:18Speaker 3: our own people just to say.
- 39:19Speaker 1: Yeah, but but but don't get it twisted. We're we're
- 39:23Speaker 1: talking about this. Whole conversation is about why we think
- 39:26Speaker 1: the club experienced. Nightlife in the club has dwindled down,
- 39:30Speaker 1: but but on a better, more positive note, Atlanta is
- 39:35Speaker 1: the only place of his kind in the world where
- 39:38Speaker 1: a black man can have a black owned business and
- 39:41Speaker 1: do good for himself. Some of these things.
- 39:43Speaker 3: We have to raise the bar though the bar is
- 39:46Speaker 3: just way too low.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Bar is way too low, but we accept it.
- 39:50Speaker 2: I want to because we we gotta, we gotta wrap.
- 39:54Speaker 3: It's a mental health check in.
- 39:56Speaker 2: I want you guys to, uh, that's your cameras, you know,
- 40:01Speaker 2: just share what mental space you're in right now and
- 40:04Speaker 2: just leave, like with some positive words.
- 40:09Speaker 3: Every day. I pray every day, I meditate every day,
- 40:13Speaker 3: I do quiet time because I've learned and understood how
- 40:17Speaker 3: important it is to understand where you are mentally every day.
- 40:25Speaker 3: I don't think that we understand the depths of depression
- 40:30Speaker 3: and struggle and the different aspects that we all as
- 40:33Speaker 3: people go through. I suggest that everybody take the time
- 40:38Speaker 3: to connect with yourself, because if you don't and you're
- 40:41Speaker 3: in a dark place, anything is possible. Anything. Take time
- 40:46Speaker 3: for yourself.
- 40:49Speaker 1: I pray as well. I disconnect sometimes too. I think
- 40:55Speaker 1: as an entrepreneur, being an entrepreneur since school, a lot
- 41:01Speaker 1: of people don't realize the mental capacity that we take
- 41:04Speaker 1: on because, especially when you're an entrepreneur in the night
- 41:08Speaker 1: life or any business where you always have to see
- 41:12Speaker 1: that you're doing well. People don't take the time to
- 41:15Speaker 1: ask how you're doing, because oh that's botch you he's straight,
- 41:18Speaker 1: I know he good? Now, Nah, sometimes you're not good.
- 41:21Speaker 1: But as a result, you got to do what makes
- 41:24Speaker 1: you happy. You got to take the time to have
- 41:28Speaker 1: some me time for yourself, because that's very important. A
- 41:31Speaker 1: lot of people don't understand all the shit you see
- 41:33Speaker 1: on social media. Ninety percent of it is fake, you
- 41:36Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. And you don't need to compare
- 41:39Speaker 1: yourself to anybody else because that person may be doing
- 41:42Speaker 1: just as worse than you are. You know what I'm saying.
- 41:44Speaker 1: But mental health is very very important. I always try
- 41:49Speaker 1: to tell my son, I try to tell my daughter,
- 41:51Speaker 1: I try to tell the youngest around me. You have
- 41:54Speaker 1: to be grateful for what you have because somebody's always
- 41:57Speaker 1: doing worse.
- 41:58Speaker 4: Appreciate that right about now, k boch for this.
- 42:07Speaker 1: Now.
- 42:08Speaker 4: Life is up and down. You know, you go up
- 42:10Speaker 4: and down. It's a struggle. But don't give up. Be consistent,
- 42:15Speaker 4: have a good work ethics, and please talking about city
- 42:19Speaker 4: of Atlanta, Please our people. Let's love one another, you know,
- 42:26Speaker 4: in our business in the clubs, if there's some issues,
- 42:30Speaker 4: walk away. It ain't worth true killing somebody for a
- 42:35Speaker 4: nightclub you can't get in, or your ego or you know,
- 42:39Speaker 4: your ex girlfriend with somebody else on this, it ain't
- 42:41Speaker 4: worth it. Walk Away, That's all I have to say.
- 42:45Speaker 4: Walk away and let's just respect one another. That's it.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Last thing. It's somebody out there who's probably on drugs,
- 42:53Speaker 1: who drinks real bad. We've all lost people to gun violence.
- 42:58Speaker 1: And one thing I'm definitely gonna say is drugs and
- 43:02Speaker 1: alcohol are not meant to be mixed. So I don't
- 43:06Speaker 1: condone drugs, but if you're gonna use drugs, don't mix
- 43:10Speaker 1: because I've had people who got killed by somebody because
- 43:14Speaker 1: they won't this. They want that, they were drinking this
- 43:18Speaker 1: and it led to them doing something they didn't even
- 43:19Speaker 1: realized they were doing.
- 43:21Speaker 4: Egos too.
- 43:22Speaker 1: There you go.
- 43:23Speaker 2: I mean, appreciate you guys, man, anything be TV good.
- 43:26Speaker 1: Yep, man, we're good. This was a great conversation.
- 43:28Speaker 2: I can't wait for these clips to clip up.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Ball Alert Peace,
