- 0:16Speaker 1: putt and practice. If you don't have time for a
- 0:19Speaker 1: full round. Book your tea time today. Golf dot Breck
- 0:23Speaker 1: dot org. Golf dot Breck dot org says you back
- 0:26Speaker 1: on the practice field today. OTA's our buddy, Sean f
- 0:29Speaker 1: Zanfox eight, was there good enough to join us? Now? Sean,
- 0:31Speaker 1: how are you man?
- 0:33Speaker 2: I'm good man, How are you?
- 0:34Speaker 1: I'm doing awesome? Does basically everyone just flock right to
- 0:37Speaker 1: the quarterbacks to see those guys.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Yeah, and look they've so far in the limited amounts
- 0:45Speaker 2: we've been able to see that, they've been sort of
- 0:48Speaker 2: the the talk of the two practices. So it's natural
- 0:51Speaker 2: you go, you gravitate towards the quarterbacks, and their performances
- 0:54Speaker 2: of performances have kind of confirmed why we're we've been
- 0:59Speaker 2: watching them. So I think, yeah, all the book would
- 1:02Speaker 2: you see today?
- 1:02Speaker 1: From the quarterbacks?
- 1:04Speaker 2: I saw why the thing's drafted Tyler Shut, and if
- 1:07Speaker 2: you're a Tyler Shut guy, you saw well if you
- 1:11Speaker 2: weren't there, but if if you know, what was on
- 1:14Speaker 2: display was what attracted him. The thanks to him, I mean,
- 1:17Speaker 2: the arm town is very, very very real. He opened
- 1:21Speaker 2: seven on seven with an effortless sixty yard bomb to
- 1:24Speaker 2: Bove Memes for a touchdown during seven on seven. Uh,
- 1:28Speaker 2: two sessions later, not two sessions, but to two sets later,
- 1:33Speaker 2: if you will, the way they were doing this, the
- 1:34Speaker 2: way they're rotating. He did it again to dominant people's jones.
- 1:37Speaker 2: He had another great throw kind of on a deep
- 1:40Speaker 2: corner route to one of the tight ends where he
- 1:41Speaker 2: fitted in nicely. So the arm talent, the confidence and
- 1:48Speaker 2: just sort of the the maturity and comfort I think
- 1:52Speaker 2: is there now. He also threw the first interception that
- 1:55Speaker 2: we've been able to see with where I think is
- 1:57Speaker 2: as big as vulnerability right now. That's just he's just
- 2:00Speaker 2: not quite seeing it in that intermediate between the seams
- 2:04Speaker 2: part of the field. That's where he's getting a little
- 2:06Speaker 2: jammed up, so to speak. And he was laid on
- 2:08Speaker 2: a throw and got picked off. But the explosive this
- 2:11Speaker 2: was certainly there and it's seven on seven, so you
- 2:15Speaker 2: can't get too far. You gotta really temper your evaluation.
- 2:19Speaker 2: But just the raw physical talent I think was on
- 2:22Speaker 2: display today.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Right, So in seven on seven off so you don't
- 2:24Speaker 1: have the pass rush, which is a huge, huge question composition.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Whenever I hear something like that, though, Sean, my brain
- 2:31Speaker 1: goes to, Okay, do you praise the offense or you
- 2:34Speaker 1: worried about the defense? So flip it over and tell
- 2:36Speaker 1: me on those plays and really in the OTAs today
- 2:39Speaker 1: what you saw from the secondary.
- 2:41Speaker 2: But you know, I do think the offense has been
- 2:44Speaker 2: a step ahead during those seven on seven, but the
- 2:46Speaker 2: seven on seven period is generally an offensive period. But
- 2:51Speaker 2: even with that, for instance, Spencer Ratley went ten for
- 2:54Speaker 2: twelve today while Shuck went nine for twelve today. And
- 2:59Speaker 2: this is coming on the heel of eight for eight
- 3:00Speaker 2: for Rattler last week. It's seven for eight for Shucks.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I think you kind of seeing the mats here. So
- 3:06Speaker 2: you know, we talked to a Lante Taylor, you know,
- 3:08Speaker 2: he kind of said, you know, it's one thing during
- 3:10Speaker 2: seven on seven, but it's a lot different with the
- 3:12Speaker 2: pass rush. I would just say, look, they're missing some
- 3:14Speaker 2: guys on defense. Right now, it is it's geared more
- 3:18Speaker 2: towards the offense, But I think at some point that
- 3:21Speaker 2: that side of the balls got to catch up a
- 3:22Speaker 2: little bit.
- 3:23Speaker 1: You know, the two receivers you mentioned there, Bud Means
- 3:26Speaker 1: and Donovan People's jones or not. The receivers, I think
- 3:29Speaker 1: many of us are expecting to be standout Guys'd be
- 3:32Speaker 1: great if they are. But are you noticing anything from
- 3:35Speaker 1: a Lave Shaheed obviously both those guys coming back off injury. Yeah.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Absolutely. I thought she today had the most receptions of anyone.
- 3:42Speaker 2: He had three, and it was sort of a It
- 3:44Speaker 2: was a quick slant run after catch type play, was
- 3:47Speaker 2: a middle of the field dig rolfs with Spencer Rattler.
- 3:50Speaker 2: He had another one as well. He almost had a
- 3:52Speaker 2: fourth one where he got behind his de Fender. Ratler
- 3:54Speaker 2: slightly underthrew him, so the ball was Defender was able
- 3:57Speaker 2: to close and he was able to knock it away
- 4:00Speaker 2: chrys alive. It was a really smooth working at that
- 4:03Speaker 2: sort of second level of the field. Ratley's best throw
- 4:06Speaker 2: was a was a deep dig to him today as well.
- 4:09Speaker 2: So both of those guys look fully recovered, fully confident
- 4:13Speaker 2: and embracing the I guess the new system, the more
- 4:16Speaker 2: offensive friendly system that this thing certainly have right now.
- 4:19Speaker 2: So they've looked good, but again they're in they're in
- 4:23Speaker 2: very favorable positions right now. They can't get hit and
- 4:27Speaker 2: there's no and there's no pass rush right now, so
- 4:30Speaker 2: it's a good thing, but they are certainly nowhere near
- 4:34Speaker 2: finished product.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I'm glad you brought that. I'm Sean Fazan's our guests.
- 4:37Speaker 1: He's on Twitter at Sean fazand Fox eight. If you
- 4:39Speaker 1: want to give a follow, Uh, whenever you can't hit
- 4:42Speaker 1: like it's it's why until they put pads on Sean,
- 4:44Speaker 1: it's almost worthless to talk about the line of scrimmage.
- 4:49Speaker 1: The rotation off the line of offensively is interesting with
- 4:53Speaker 1: Penning moving, But is there anything that you're seeing on
- 4:56Speaker 1: either line of scrimmage that's notable so far through the
- 4:58Speaker 1: couple O TA practices you've all.
- 5:00Speaker 2: It's just the personnel on the offensive line in my opinion.
- 5:03Speaker 2: I mean, look, we've all been talking about the Trevor
- 5:08Speaker 2: Penning skill set. It's just it felt so obvious for
- 5:13Speaker 2: a long time. And he is a guard. I mean,
- 5:14Speaker 2: you talk about how powerful he is how well he
- 5:16Speaker 2: moves going forward, how how much he struggles with lateral
- 5:20Speaker 2: quickness when he's out there on an island, how much
- 5:22Speaker 2: his footwork kind of goes away when he kind of
- 5:24Speaker 2: gets crossed up by those edge defenders. He's a mauler
- 5:27Speaker 2: in the run game. I mean he puts his hands
- 5:29Speaker 2: on you. I mean you've seen it a couple of
- 5:31Speaker 2: times on table. He puts guys like in the ground,
- 5:33Speaker 2: I mean like buries them. So that, to me, is
- 5:37Speaker 2: the most compelling storyline is the personnel up front, because
- 5:42Speaker 2: this to me and just listening to Kellen Moore, this
- 5:45Speaker 2: is the five they are gonna go with until until
- 5:48Speaker 2: otherwise noted, because it certainly feels like that's the five
- 5:51Speaker 2: they want to start this season. And I think it's
- 5:55Speaker 2: it's you. Look you think about it. You have Banks
- 5:58Speaker 2: as a natural left tackle, as left tackle is a rookie,
- 6:01Speaker 2: but still a left tackle. Blog is a national right tackle.
- 6:04Speaker 2: And now you have Pinning who shifts the game, but
- 6:06Speaker 2: he shifts back to his more natural side and me
- 6:08Speaker 2: is going to be his more natural position. And I think, look,
- 6:11Speaker 2: they've they've had so much investment up front. Yes, this
- 6:14Speaker 2: needs to be a strength of the team. They can't
- 6:16Speaker 2: just be competent. This needs to be a strength to
- 6:18Speaker 2: the team. And hopefully this is the right mix to
- 6:20Speaker 2: get those guys. And I'll also say they've got some
- 6:23Speaker 2: quality depth clap Landing Young and Dylan Rattins as well.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Uh as you're sort of your your three nick Sele
- 6:29Speaker 2: the various got some starts as well. But I think
- 6:30Speaker 2: they've they've got just they've got talent up front, but
- 6:33Speaker 2: also unlike last year, I think they've got some quality
- 6:35Speaker 2: depth pieces as well, showing.
- 6:37Speaker 1: A couple more the guy you're so right to, I
- 6:39Speaker 1: mean four first round picks and the second round. Look
- 6:42Speaker 1: at you like this, this has to be you have
- 6:44Speaker 1: so much investing, like they have to be good and good.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Penning's a miss as a tackle. He's a miss as
- 6:50Speaker 1: a tackle, but get something out of him. Uh sorry.
- 6:53Speaker 1: The This is also the time of year where uh
- 6:58Speaker 1: you can start to maybe see some off the rate
- 7:00Speaker 1: our guys, rookies U d f as just start to
- 7:02Speaker 1: flash a little. Has anybody caught your eye a little
- 7:05Speaker 1: off the radar?
- 7:07Speaker 2: I like Yarn the running back one of the Dakotas
- 7:12Speaker 2: of the undrafted rookie Marcus I think that's the guy.
- 7:17Speaker 2: He's got good vision, he's got he's got some speed
- 7:20Speaker 2: that you can work with. The guy they really pinpointed
- 7:23Speaker 2: during the GIRAFT. Had they may have had another pick,
- 7:25Speaker 2: possibly they would have gone with him, but he was
- 7:28Speaker 2: one that they really you know, valued in the undrafted
- 7:30Speaker 2: free agent process and didn't have quite as many undrafted
- 7:33Speaker 2: periagen because they had such a big class. So to me,
- 7:37Speaker 2: that's been the one guy that I look back and say,
- 7:39Speaker 2: because he's getting a few more rests because Kamara is
- 7:41Speaker 2: not there. So he's the guy I think that's got
- 7:44Speaker 2: a skill set that could perhaps translate to this level
- 7:47Speaker 2: where he potentially makes the roster and you know who
- 7:51Speaker 2: knows after that. So I think of the off the
- 7:53Speaker 2: radar guys, I think that would probably be the one
- 7:54Speaker 2: that qualifies both just as someone that's done a couple
- 7:58Speaker 2: of things to stand out.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Last thing up observation of the coaches as someone you know,
- 8:02Speaker 1: you've you've you've been there for Peyton and you've been
- 8:04Speaker 1: there for Alan and Rizzie and now more as the
- 8:07Speaker 1: first time had go jord the assistants, any observations from Kelly.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Moore the staff, Yeah, you know, I think Kellen Moore's
- 8:14Speaker 2: is not going to be the raw rock guy. He's
- 8:16Speaker 2: going to be more of a relatable type coach where
- 8:18Speaker 2: he's he's close to the guys in age. He's not
- 8:21Speaker 2: gonna be the yeller. He's kind of walking around. He
- 8:24Speaker 2: looked like he was calling some plays earlier. I don't
- 8:26Speaker 2: know if he was calling the plays during Seven on seven.
- 8:28Speaker 2: No I had a chance. I was a little concerned
- 8:30Speaker 2: because the few times we had a chance to meet
- 8:33Speaker 2: with him in the media, really especially during the whole
- 8:36Speaker 2: Derek car fiesco he was really buttoned up to tell him,
- 8:39Speaker 2: just trying not to say the wrong thing. But I
- 8:40Speaker 2: had a chance to kind of to not hang out
- 8:43Speaker 2: but chat with him for about ten minutes over the
- 8:45Speaker 2: Saints Hall of Fame golf tournament, and it really put
- 8:48Speaker 2: my fears at ease because he was a very relatable
- 8:50Speaker 2: guy off camera, very really cool guy. You can kind
- 8:54Speaker 2: of sense why the players can relate to a player
- 8:56Speaker 2: like that, So I think that's probably more of what
- 8:59Speaker 2: they're seeing behind the scenes. And look, they put all
- 9:03Speaker 2: their confidence behind him. He brings a certain certain style
- 9:07Speaker 2: and it's definitely different from the I guess you could
- 9:09Speaker 2: say that even the previous three coaches when you can
- 9:11Speaker 2: throw Darren Rizzy in there. But I do think change
- 9:14Speaker 2: was needed, and I think you're seeing that just because,
- 9:17Speaker 2: uh the Steven on the Ota Matt, this is probably
- 9:20Speaker 2: the lightest workload I've seen during OTAs. I mean, I've
- 9:23Speaker 2: never seen them not do a live eleven on eleven
- 9:26Speaker 2: during OTAs and all my years covering the team until now,
- 9:29Speaker 2: so this is what he prefers. They're kind of doing
- 9:31Speaker 2: it incrementally, and they're also you know, aiming for longevity
- 9:35Speaker 2: with some health and players. So it's a welcome change
- 9:38Speaker 2: and so far, so good.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Sean Fizzanne Fox eight in New Orleans. He's on Twitter
- 9:42Speaker 1: at Sean Fazanne Fox eight Guggiema follow. We appreciate it
- 9:45Speaker 1: as always, man, thank you all right, but
