Manitoba Conservation investigators are accusing Alamos Gold Inc. of negligence after a massive wildfire—burning over 85,000 hectares and forcing Lynn Lake’s evacuation—was allegedly sparked by unextinguished burn piles at the company’s MacLellan Mine. Despite holding a permit that mandated water suppression, Alamos Gold reportedly used only fire guards and stirring, allowing embers to ignite a wildfire that came within five kilometers of town.
