- 1:14Jack. The Thunder and Nugget series
- 1:17has concluded in rare style. I mean 93 to 125.
- 1:22The Thunder literally brought out the storm against Denver.
- 1:27Yeah, You know, I got to watch the game kind of informally.
- 1:31I saw the beginning of the game at home, the first period.
- 1:35The Nuggets are looking good. Then I had to, I had a
- 1:39commitment. So I wound up watching it off TV
- 1:42without sound in the restaurant from the table I was at.
- 1:46And you knew when it was like a 14 point lead at half time, OK,
- 1:52She had a spurt. You kind of got the feeling.
- 1:54I got the feeling the Nuggets were never going to make a run.
- 1:57They were never going to make a run.
- 1:59And there was no way back. And there wasn't.
- 2:01And it was like the momentum stayed with the Thunder the
- 2:04whole way. And in a sense, it was a sad
- 2:07thing to watch because even though they're going to run it
- 2:10back with the same players next year, Denver, you got the
- 2:14feeling the windows closing. I just got to say something, OK?
- 2:18And David Adelman, their head coach, I'm.
- 2:22I'm looking at all this phrase for him today.
- 2:25I don't give him any of this phrase.
- 2:27He didn't do a bad job. Why are we phrasing David
- 2:30Adelman, the interim Nugget coach?
- 2:33What the heck did he do, Sonia? They would have lost in seven
- 2:37games with Malone the same way they got blown out in the
- 2:41seventh game. I don't want to hear about a
- 2:42great coaching job. I didn't know a great coaching
- 2:45job. I don't know if they would have
- 2:47gotten as far as they had gotten had he still remained the coach.
- 2:51I mean, they got further than what I thought they would, Jack
- 2:54and. The And I say something they
- 2:56maybe would have beaten the Thunder had they stuck with
- 2:59Malone. How do you like that?
- 3:01How do you like Malone is a championship coach?
- 3:05He won the NBA title two years ago.
- 3:08And I don't want to hear the Nugget players.
- 3:10Oh, we want David Adelman back, how much he helped.
- 3:12If you wanted them back, you were the one out and you would
- 3:15have beaten OK C and then you would have at least make on to
- 3:20the Finals and then you would have gotten the coach.
- 3:22Your choice. I can't stand this when these
- 3:25players are advocating for coach who they don't come through for.
- 3:30I mean, even Joker, they ask him and he says, well, the
- 3:33decision's out of my control. He's been diplomatic.
- 3:36And then he says, yeah, he created some energy like he
- 3:39threw a bone to David Adelman. I thought the Nuggets are under
- 3:440 obligation, OK, in any way, shape or form to bring David
- 3:49Adelman back. If they want to do it, fine.
- 3:53I mean, that's their choice. But you want to know something,
- 3:55Sonia? If I was going to bring them
- 3:57back, I'd bring them back on a one year contract because I
- 4:01think the fans, the media are spoiled.
- 4:03They're brainwashed. Whenever you hire coach, it's as
- 4:08if you have to give him a long term deal.
- 4:10You have to give him at least three years.
- 4:12Otherwise they say, oh, he's a lame duck coach.
- 4:15No, he's not a lame duck culture.
- 4:16The one year contract, that's all I would give him.
- 4:21With David Adelman here, you've given one year.
- 4:23If you do a good job, you know, we'll give you a multi year
- 4:27contract, that type of thing. You don't make a long term
- 4:31commitment to David Adelman, but I think they will because he was
- 4:36the Denver Nugget assistant. He's popular in the building,
- 4:40but he didn't do anything special in the slightest.
- 4:46I mean, I agree with that, Jack, because it's hindsight.
- 4:50Now they always say that's 2020. I literally feel the same.
- 4:54I feel like this was a championship coach that you guys
- 4:56let go of because you were impatient.
- 4:59You were in a win now mode and it, even though it looked good
- 5:03at first because we saw Denver actually advancing.
- 5:06Now the ultimate goal, which is the win now is missed.
- 5:10It's a missed opportunity. If I'm him, I don't even come
- 5:13back. I mean, the way they did him was
- 5:14absolutely horrible. And I honestly don't even think
- 5:19David Adelman, I don't think. He wouldn't come back.
- 5:23He was. He's salivating at the thought
- 5:25of getting the job. Like you said, he's a
- 5:29championship coach and they let. Malone.
- 5:32No, no. Malone.
- 5:33Malone. Mike Malone, who is let go, but
- 5:36he's not being offered any job to come back to Denver.
- 5:39He might get another head coaching job somewhere in the
- 5:42NBA. Because I was trying to make
- 5:44sense of that. Like, wait a minute, I didn't, I
- 5:46didn't know that part. So when you said it, I was
- 5:48trying to follow along, but I was like.
- 5:51Right. Well, David Adelman, their
- 5:52interim coach. Now they want them to come back,
- 5:58I mean. Well, yeah, it seems that way.
- 6:02They're going to supposedly evaluate the situation, but the
- 6:06way the Nugget ownership is talking, it's in the way some of
- 6:12the players are talking. It seems obvious Adelman is is
- 6:17the interim tag is going to get removed and he's going to be the
- 6:20full time coach. But all this phrase I'm hearing
- 6:24about Adelman after the game, oh, what a great job he did.
- 6:30He didn't do he didn't do a great job.
- 6:33The Nuggets personnel is the set is just as good as OKC's
- 6:39personnel. I could argue their personnel is
- 6:42better than OKCS. Yet OKC won the series and they
- 6:47blew out the Nuggets in the seventh game.
- 6:50I can see in seven. Games, it went seven games and
- 6:54that's big so. Big for what?
- 6:57If it went seven games, the Nuggets should have won it in
- 6:59seven games. The Nuggets, in my opinion, are
- 7:02better overall personnel in OKC. If you want to look at the
- 7:07players that they've got, I mean, you know, they got SGA,
- 7:11but Denver has Jokic, who's arguably the best play in the
- 7:15game. You know, like Jamal Murray,
- 7:18etcetera, etcetera, have players Denver and they got blown on get
- 7:24listen, Adelman didn't do a bad job.
- 7:27Like I said, if they want to remove the interim tab, make
- 7:30them the full time coach do it. But I'm going to tell you that
- 7:33was a damaging loss for the Nuggets.
- 7:36I don't want to hear. Well, it's OK.
- 7:39I'll come back next year. This is a veteran team.
- 7:41That's window. It's it's closing.
- 7:44It's gently closing. It doesn't mean they can't keep
- 7:48it together and make a run at the title next year.
- 7:51But they needed that game more than OK C yesterday because OK
- 7:55CS hope you're just ahead of them yet.
- 7:57OK C, You know, it's a team that's advancing up.
- 8:01Play the Minnesota Timberwolves. And if you want a prediction, I
- 8:06think the Wolves beat OKC. OKC is going to be favoured, but
- 8:10I think the Timberwolves beat OKC and they go to their first
- 8:14finals in franchise history. And then what we're going to
- 8:18say, they could have been in a position to, you know, they
- 8:23could have been in the position to play the Timberwolves in the
- 8:26West finals and they're not there.
- 8:28So all we're going to hear what a great job David Adelman did
- 8:31having his team get their butt kicked in Game 7 and getting
- 8:35eliminated. Let me ask you this, Jack.
- 8:39So of course, just comparing this Series A little bit to the
- 8:43Boston Celtics, New York Knicks game, Aaron Gordon proved that
- 8:47he's unbelievably tough by even attempting to play with a grade
- 8:522 hamstring strain during Sunday's game seven.
- 8:56We didn't even see Steph come out and try to even suit up.
- 8:59I mean, is there a difference in their hamstring injuries or am I
- 9:03wrong on? That there's obviously some type
- 9:05of difference. I would never question Steph
- 9:07Curry. Don't even never question four
- 9:11time NBA champion, the Ultimate Team guy.
- 9:15I would not question Steph Curry.
- 9:17Sometimes you have to make a decision based on your head, not
- 9:21on your heart. And Steph Curry understands
- 9:24these type of injuries. If he wants to go out there and
- 9:27try to please the fans or whatever, but they just say, oh,
- 9:31what Steph Curry has and he goes limping out and makes the
- 9:34hamstring worse. These hamstring injuries, they
- 9:38can stay with you for a while. I mean, I, you know, I've had
- 9:42them just as an everyday runner. And even when it heals and you
- 9:47can get back and run, you feel it sometimes a little bit.
- 9:51You like, you kind of know it's there.
- 9:54And the NBA is about fast running, fast explosive
- 9:58movements and cutting and to come back too early, just you
- 10:02don't do it. But I'll tell you, if the
- 10:04Warriors were in the Finals or they won a Game 7 situation, I
- 10:10think it would have seen Steph Curry out there.
- 10:12But he's not going to go out there to win a game five of the
- 10:17series. If they're down three, One, just
- 10:19stay, stay alive. Because what does that mean for
- 10:22Game 6 and game seven? Chances are he wouldn't be ready
- 10:26to play. You know, it would be very, very
- 10:29difficult. So what Gordon did was
- 10:32courageous. It was great.
- 10:33It was done in the Game 7. If the series was 22, you
- 10:37wouldn't see him out there. You weren't going to see him
- 10:40out. Then he grabbed rebounds.
- 10:41He did what he could and you know what?
- 10:44It was semi effective or effective off the boards at
- 10:48least. Yeah, I don't know.
- 10:50I I feel like this team just I don't want to say was Dune, but
- 10:54New York, just the pride behind that team.
- 10:57I mean, you live in that area, Jack.
- 10:59It's just overwhelming to to come in and then to have, you
- 11:04know, some of your main starters like Jason Tatum go down as
- 11:08well. And he he had to end up having
- 11:12surgery. And so that specific series, I
- 11:15mentioned him earlier and I meant to mention Jason as well.
- 11:17I start talking about Steph, but I mean, did that team and now
- 11:22it's come out. Jaylen Brown was actually
- 11:24playing through a a slightly torn meniscus Jack.
- 11:28Yeah, I mean, that got on the part of Jaylen Brown.
- 11:32I don't know how wise it is. Did he consult with the team
- 11:36doctors? That would be a concern of mine.
- 11:39If he didn't consult with the team doctors and he felt
- 11:42something was there and we're still playing, it would have
- 11:45been foolish on Jaylen Brown's part.
- 11:48It would. I admire his courage stepping
- 11:52up, wanting to be a leader with Jalen, with Jason Tatum out.
- 11:57And he was the focus, you know, of the team at that point.
- 12:01You know, he didn't have his partner, dad, Jason Tatum.
- 12:05But the play through an injury like that way, you can make it
- 12:08so worse to the point where it could be affected the rest of
- 12:13your career. You know, I don't know how wise
- 12:16that is. You know, I remember that
- 12:17legendary game when the Knicks won the NBA championship in 1970
- 12:23where Willis Reed was really hurt.
- 12:26He had his injury and no one knew whether he was going to
- 12:28play the 7th game or not. And they interviewed the coach,
- 12:32his coach, Red Holtzman. And Red Holtzman said if it's
- 12:37the type of injury that could potentially be career ending, if
- 12:42we have him out there to play, he's not going to play even
- 12:45though it's game seven of the NBA championship.
- 12:48But as it turn out, Willis Reed hobbled out there.
- 12:52He hit two the first two baskets for the next, but was totally
- 12:55ineffective, totally ineffective the rest of the game.
- 12:59But the emotional boost he gave the team by being out there, you
- 13:04know, showing up and how it got the crowd going in the frenzy
- 13:10was invaluable. But still walk.
- 13:12Clyde Fraser got robbed of being the Finals MVP.
- 13:16That. Yeah, but they gave it to Willis
- 13:19Reed. I mean, no one talks about the
- 13:21injustice of that because Willis Reed's performance and
- 13:25leadership, you know, he was so courageous, people thought, oh,
- 13:30give him the give him the MVP. Same way Stone you and Joe
- 13:33Namath got the MVP is Super Bowl 3.
- 13:35Should have gone to Matt Snell, the running back, But we'll talk
- 13:39a little. Bit that meat on.
- 13:42It was a wrap with that meat that he had on.
- 13:45No, I mean, it's I mean the public, the public gets caught
- 13:50in these stories like, you know, and and I I don't go, but like I
- 13:55was venting about the David Adelman thing, you know, well,
- 13:58like with the great coaching job, everyone's saying he did
- 14:02and then for lost, they lost. And you're saying, well, they
- 14:10maybe wouldn't have gotten to a seventh game if it wasn't him.
- 14:13And I counted Sonia saying maybe they would have won the series
- 14:17if it wasn't, if they if they retained, you know, Mike Malone.
- 14:21So don't tell me Denver won an NBA championship.
- 14:25Them getting to a seventh game with OK C, At the very least you
- 14:30would have expected that. Yeah, you're right.
- 14:33You're right. Good morning, Rick.
- 14:35I mean, we got plenty NBA still left.
- 14:37It's a long time before the actual championship.
- 14:39The the big finale, of course, tomorrow, Tuesday, kicking off
- 14:43the Minnesota Timberwolves versus OKCU.
- 14:45They got a break off today, Wednesday.
- 14:47We'll see the Pacers and the Knicks on the 21st.
- 14:52Those games are both the 8:00 and 8:30 PM Eastern Standard
- 14:55Time. We'll see them the rest of the
- 14:57week. Literally every other day.
- 14:59But we'll have basketball every single day.
- 15:01One division we'll be playing or or the other.
- 15:04Not today, but starting tomorrow.
- 15:06Jack, who do you think's going to take this series with OKC and
- 15:09the T Wolves? No, I said a little while ago, I
- 15:13think the T wolves finally get over the top.
- 15:16I mean, I, I just think Rudy Goldberg could cancel out Chet
- 15:22Holmgren under the boards. Julius Randall's playing great.
- 15:26Anthony Edwards is Anthony Edwards.
- 15:28I think this is his time to shine.
- 15:30And I know you could say that about SGA, who's, you know, the
- 15:34most underrated superstar, you know, a star in the NBAI just
- 15:40think it's the it's the Wolves time, you know, and I think they
- 15:44can go into OKC and win a 7th game if need be.
- 15:49But I just, I kind of like the Wolves, you know, in I like them
- 15:55in six games. It doesn't mean I'm going to
- 15:56pick them in the Finals to win the NBA championship, but I'd
- 16:00like them to beat OKC. Now, are your homers, the Knicks
- 16:05going to take care of the Pacers or you think the Pacers are
- 16:07going to be on track? I mean, they eliminated number
- 16:09one team in the East when they eliminated the Cavaliers.
- 16:14I'm going to tell you I'm, I'm trying to, I tried to figure out
- 16:18the Final four, what's going to transpire, OK?
- 16:23And, and I'm partial towards the Knicks.
- 16:28Obviously, you know, being in New York, I want them to win.
- 16:32But I got to look at it very emotionally and, you know,
- 16:37objectively and the Pacers are playing so well.
- 16:42No one thinks that as a team. And we tend to look at the paces
- 16:46as being a number four seed. I don't look at them that way.
- 16:51I look at how they've been playing not early in the year
- 16:55when they were so, so, so you don't look at the overall record
- 16:58they've won. You know, they have a very high
- 17:01winning percentage since they started putting it together
- 17:05around mid season and they've carried it through the playoffs.
- 17:09I mean, they beat the Bucks in five games.
- 17:12The Cleveland Cavaliers are terrific team.
- 17:15And look what the Pacers did against them.
- 17:17They beat them in five games. They beat them all three games
- 17:20in Cleveland. It bothers me to say this.
- 17:23It bothers me to say this, but I'm going to.
- 17:26I'm picking the paces to win in seven games.
- 17:29OK, You know, winning a 7th game in Madison Square Garden with a
- 17:35Knicks or one game from going to the Finals.
- 17:38And what's going to hurt a little more?
- 17:40I'm picking the paces then to beat the T Wolves in the NBA
- 17:44Finals. And as crazy as it's going to
- 17:48sound in a year like this, who would have thought the Indiana
- 17:52Pacers could be NBA champions? When you think of who's going to
- 17:56be the NBA champion, Sonia, we're crowning.
- 18:01It's going to kind of be crazy. Think of all four teams, how
- 18:05crazy it is. The T Wolves have never gone to
- 18:08a Finals, So if they win it, it's their first NBA
- 18:12championship. And just getting to the Finals
- 18:15is great for the T Wolves because they've never been
- 18:17there. But it would be their first NBA
- 18:19championship. If OK C wins, wins it, it's
- 18:23their first NBA championship. If the Knicks win it, that's off
- 18:29the charts. New York, You know, people going
- 18:32to go crazy in New York. I mean, that would be bigger
- 18:36than if the Knicks win it. It would be bigger than the
- 18:40Yankees, Mets, Giants or Jets winning a championship.
- 18:45Okay, it would be bigger the next winning it would be bigger.
- 18:49I'm telling you that I know difference for the mood of the.
- 18:54Oh my gosh. You know the Giants of what?
- 18:58The Giants have won Super Bowls, it seems, in the Eli Manning
- 19:02era. The Jets, that was so long ago.
- 19:05But something about The Jets. They don't have the rabbit fan
- 19:09base the Knicks have. They just have a good fan base.
- 19:11The Knicks have a phenomenal fan base.
- 19:14That's the difference. And the Rangers didn't win one
- 19:17in the 90s, but they're not in the mix.
- 19:19So let's let's forget about hockey completely.
- 19:22And the Mets and the Yankees, you know, it wouldn't quite be
- 19:26as big, but so that would be. And if the Pacers win it?
- 19:30This is their first NBA. Yeah, if the Pacers haven't won
- 19:35an NBA championship either, the three of the fourteen haven't
- 19:41won an NBA championship. The only one who has is the next
- 19:45and that would be off the charts the Knicks winning it, but and
- 19:49for the other three, it's the first NBA championship.
- 19:53So it it would be it's it's it's exciting and I don't know if I
- 19:57use it's telling you you're probably selling your old school
- 20:01yard. I want to see Golden State and
- 20:03the Lakers. I.
- 20:04Mean, come on. I don't want to see the Lakers.
- 20:07I'm tired of them. I'm sick of the Lakers.
- 20:09I actually would be pulling for the Knicks if I was pulling for
- 20:12anybody left in the series because I I just, I'm kind of
- 20:17partial to New York a little bit.
- 20:18I have family that's there. My grandfather was from
- 20:20Brooklyn. I mean, I know the Nets are
- 20:22there, but still, if you got to go to New York team as to go
- 20:25with the Knicks and of course for Mac, I mean, we're pulling
- 20:27for the Knicks for Mac. But but let's be clear though,
- 20:30Jack, the Pacers didn't even. I love Mac, I love Mac, but I'm
- 20:35not pulling for the next with the next fan and I love Mac.
- 20:38I'm gonna, I'm gonna. That's just adding to I told you
- 20:41the first reasons were because I have family there and.
- 20:44It's another mad I might pull for the Giants for.
- 20:47No, I'm not pulling for the Giants.
- 20:48I usually, I usually pull for the East Coast when it comes
- 20:52down to the NBA playoffs, unless it's Steph Curry and the
- 20:55Warriors. Other than that, I usually pull
- 20:58for whatever East Coast team it is.
- 21:00But listen, this is the thing. The Pacers didn't even join the
- 21:03NBA until 1976. They have championships, but
- 21:07they're with the ABA 7072 and 73.
- 21:12So they had three championships in the same era before they
- 21:16joined the NBA and they're and the best performance that we've
- 21:21seen, except the team we see today, was in 2000 when they
- 21:25went to the NBA Finals and lost to the Lakers.
- 21:28What we're we're talking about, You're talking about.
- 21:31Yeah. You're talking about the Pacers,
- 21:33That right, Right. Well, the Pacers had great NBA
- 21:36teams. They had George McGinnis before
- 21:38he joined. Yes, it did.
- 21:40Yes, it. Was a a a great, great player
- 21:43for the Pacers. They had Mel Daniels, guys like
- 21:46that. And you're right, they were a
- 21:49strong ABA team in the sense their championships, but not an
- 21:54NBA championship. Look, I could say about the city
- 21:58of Minneapolis. Well, ages ago with the
- 22:00Minneapolis Lakers when they had George Mike and then the old
- 22:04days, you know, they probably won a championship of two that
- 22:07I'm not aware of. I'd have to look that up.
- 22:12And but but what I'm saying, saying it's exciting now because
- 22:16it's a new God in the NBA. And in the beginning of the
- 22:20year, maybe even the beginning of the playoffs, we didn't think
- 22:24the four, these four teams, you know, it would play out the way
- 22:29it didn't even know. There were a lot of people
- 22:31picking OK C they knew how good they were.
- 22:33A lot of people picked up KC to go to the Finals or maybe even
- 22:40win the championship. You know, I've kind of changed,
- 22:43and that's not good. In the beginning of the year, I
- 22:46picked the Celtics. I, well, no, no, no, I didn't
- 22:51pick OKC to go to the Finals. I'm too ashamed of who I picked
- 22:54to go to the Finals in the West. But I've got to come.
- 22:58I. Know who it was?
- 23:01I'm not one of these who says I told you so?
- 23:04When it plays out, When I look terrible, I got to come clean
- 23:08Sonia, and show how little I know.
- 23:11I picked the Celtics, which most people did in the Finals to win
- 23:16the NBA championship, to beat the Phoenix Suns.
- 23:21And Phoenix Suns were dreadful, dreadful.
- 23:24They didn't even make the play in tournaments.
- 23:26So take it for what it's worth my predicting, but I like to
- 23:31also the KC Indiana. It pains me in seven games over
- 23:37the next and then the paces to beat the T Wolves in the final.
- 23:43Let me ask you this to the four teams left.
- 23:45If you're the NBA and you want to get a big jolt, what team is
- 23:51it best for the NBA to win the title?
- 23:56Who's going to create the most noise, the most charisma, the
- 23:59most impact out of these four teams?
- 24:03I think the Knicks, just because of the new, the New York
- 24:06culture, like literally New Yorkers are like you got so many
- 24:11celebrities actually that pull for the Knicks.
- 24:13They they, they make a whole presentation of showing
- 24:16everybody that's at this game all the time.
- 24:19I don't really see that with the other three teams that are in
- 24:22there. I mean, you might see a star
- 24:24here or two and they might kind of talk about it, but it's just
- 24:27literally the slogan goes, I love New York.
- 24:30Everybody loves New York. I mean, it's just the staple.
- 24:34I've always said I'm surprised New York is not the capital of
- 24:37the United States because so many people just love New York.
- 24:41And I think when you mix that with the culture and look at how
- 24:44they were part of it in the streets, Jack, I've seen some of
- 24:47the videos Spike Lee drives up in his big Tesla, whatever.
- 24:51He's got this, the cyber truck, I believe, sorry, not Tesla.
- 24:55And everybody's in the streets. They're climbing the light
- 24:59poles. I mean, they are acting as if
- 25:01they've already won the entire title.
- 25:04So when I saw that, and this is just, you know, getting into the
- 25:08finals, I was like, oh, yeah, this, this is where your spirit
- 25:11is. I don't see that unless they're
- 25:13just not showing it. I don't see that in the three
- 25:16other teams. This is New York.
- 25:18I don't see it in the paces. OK, Halliburton, wonderful
- 25:21player, but he's not the type of star where all we kind of watch
- 25:26the game. Halliburton, you know, is in
- 25:28there. Jalen Brunson's been a great
- 25:31player, but he's not mocking nation wise nation, you know,
- 25:37wide. I mean, you could look at Jalen
- 25:39Brunson and make an argument. Well, he's one of the top ten
- 25:42players in the NBA. Maybe you can make that
- 25:44argument, maybe you can't. That's another debate.
- 25:47We'd have to go down the list and you look at, OK, CSGA, you
- 25:53know, Sean Giglius, Alexander, it's just for whatever reason,
- 25:58his name doesn't come up. You know, when you talk about
- 26:01the great superstars and he's arguably one of the top five
- 26:05players in the game, you could say I could be one of the top
- 26:08three players. I mean, if I said he was the
- 26:10best player in the NBA, you couldn't.
- 26:14You know what, it's a valid argument even if I went that
- 26:17far, you know, but and then you look at Anthony Edwards, he's
- 26:22the guy they who creates the quotes, the buzz, the charisma.
- 26:27And I think the T Wolves playing the Knicks in the NBA Finals is
- 26:33the that's the must watch finals.
- 26:36And they have another element too.
- 26:38The Knicks traded at the start of the year.
- 26:40They made the deal with the Timberwolves, they got Karl
- 26:44Anthony Towns, the Tim Wolf's got Julius Randall.
- 26:47When they made that deal, who in their right mind would have
- 26:50thought you you those two? And the deal is worked out for
- 26:57both teams right now. Crazy.
- 26:59Now that's that's a fact. Now that's like that's a good
- 27:02stat to bring up. No one would have thought
- 27:04literally the two teams that made this blockbuster trade are
- 27:07now in. This is insane.
- 27:10You're right, Jack. Yeah.
- 27:12And Dante Di Vincenzo, who played with his three teammates,
- 27:17Brunson Hart, you know, so on at Villanova, you know, he got
- 27:23traded away from his three, you know, college teammates to go to
- 27:27Minnesota, you know, and that had to be a blow.
- 27:30You know, the Knicks were called Villanova, Villanova Light or
- 27:35something that were jokes about him filling up their roster with
- 27:38Villanova players. And.
- 27:42To me, I put put in perspective, if the Timberwolves get to the
- 27:48Finals, even if they lost to the next paces, the deal has been a
- 27:54success, trading Karl Anthony Towns for Randall because they
- 27:58would have achieved something they never did in their
- 28:01franchise history, and they couldn't have done it without
- 28:05Julius Randall. OK.
- 28:07And they weren't able to do it with Karl Anthony Towns.
- 28:11Yeah. OK.
- 28:12Yeah. I mean that that's basically the
- 28:14way you know I look at it. Yeah, that's actually a solid
- 28:19point, Jack. I mean, it's literally like both
- 28:22players are plugged and played right where they need to be to
- 28:26make the make the to be the difference makers.
- 28:28Let me ask you this. What happens if the Knicks are
- 28:33eliminated in this series? What, what?
- 28:36How do we go forward after that? It is going to be bad.
- 28:41I mean, it's one thing if you're if you're if they met up with
- 28:45the Cavaliers, the 64 win Cavalier team in the conference
- 28:51finals and the Cavaliers were playing really well.
- 28:54Let's say the Cavaliers beat the Pacers in five games.
- 28:57Let's say what the Cavaliers would do doing during the
- 29:00regular season. They kept rolling along and they
- 29:03kept playing great. You know, with Donovan Mitchell,
- 29:07Jared Allen, Ivan, Ivan, you know, Mobley, Darius Garland,
- 29:11etcetera. Let's say they were playing
- 29:13great and you lose to a really good Cavalier team.
- 29:19You know you can live with that. Somehow the Pacer team that you
- 29:23played last year that they lost in seven games to in the semis
- 29:28and they lost the 7th game badly at Madison Square Garden.
- 29:32If that should repeat itself, it's like, wow, it's, it's a
- 29:37terrible loss. If they don't get by the paces.
- 29:41I, I, I hate to say it, it would be a bad, bad loss.
- 29:45Yeah, it's it's right now, I know we don't get into betting
- 29:50too much, but you know, Vegas and the sports book people have
- 29:52already put out the odds of the the Knicks winning the next
- 29:56championship. They all they're they're all
- 29:58varying. I mean, you got several sources,
- 30:01excuse me, that show the Knicks that would range, like would
- 30:05range and actually win. Like if you put a put $100 bet
- 30:08on them, you'd win between 4:00 and 6460.
- 30:11If the Knicks won the championship displaces them as
- 30:13having a second best odds according to some sports book,
- 30:17right behind the Thunder. So, Jack, a lot of people are
- 30:19predicting the Thunder to be the championship of it all.
- 30:23Well, the Thunder's the conservative choice.
- 30:27OK, I did the conservative choice to win it all.
- 30:32Yeah. Well, we'll see.
- 30:33I mean, the Thunder, you know, we're the best team during the
- 30:37regular season and but the Pacers are playing so well now.
- 30:42You know, if the Pacers wind up playing the Thunder in the
- 30:45Finals, I might change my prediction and pick the Thunder
- 30:50to beat the paces, OK, Or maybe I'll pick the Thunder to beat
- 30:53the next. I don't know.
- 30:55But that if I have to talk in advance to what I think is going
- 30:59to happen, I think the T Wolves are going to beat the Thunder
- 31:03and I think the Pacers are going to beat the next.
- 31:06And I think, you know, the Pacers then play the T Wolves in
- 31:10the, you know, Finals. And I think the Pacers are
- 31:14playing so well as a team, you know, and I saw last year, too,
- 31:18they looked so good, the T Wolves going into their series
- 31:22with the maps in the Western Finals.
- 31:26And then somehow the Wolves just lost it last year.
- 31:30And Dallas went on to the Finals, but they didn't have
- 31:33Julius Randle last year, the T Wolves.
- 31:36And I think that makes a big difference.
- 31:38Yeah, it does. Rick had a question for you,
- 31:40Jack. He said you play against George
- 31:42in high school. I played against who?
- 31:44George. Yeah.
- 31:46George I play against George who?
- 31:48I don't know, I don't understand the question.
- 31:52Did you play against George? Who?
- 31:55George who? George who?
- 31:59Wait, wait, wait. Am I missing a George?
- 32:00Come on, I. Don't know.
- 32:03I don't know. You got to be clear that the
- 32:04whole I play against George, George Foreman, I don't.
- 32:08Know. So listen.
- 32:12So while we wait on Rick to clarify his question, let's move
- 32:16on to some MLB news. Jack.
- 32:18I mean, this was the weekend of rivalries, the Subway Series,
- 32:21right up in your neck of the woods, the Mets versus the
- 32:24Yankees. The Yankees absolutely a little
- 32:27obliterated the Mets yesterday in the Subway Series finale.
- 32:31Cody Bellinger hitting a Grand Slam and driving in six runs in
- 32:36the 8/2 victory. And that was after the Mets had
- 32:39won earlier games in the series. What were your thoughts on
- 32:42those? Well, my thoughts are they
- 32:45didn't obliterate the Mets as much as I'd like to say, as much
- 32:48as the final score might look that way.
- 32:52It was 22 tied up in the last of the 8th and the Yankees scored
- 32:56six runs. So the game was in doubt until
- 32:59late in the game. And then Cody Bellinger when the
- 33:02Yankees won the five two hit the Grand Slam Homer.
- 33:06You know, it looked to me at points like the Yankees were
- 33:08going to lose in the in the 7th inning.
- 33:11They had aces loaded, 2 outs and Anthony Voltes is at the plate
- 33:17and then strikes. He takes the pitch, strike one,
- 33:23then he's swinging at 2 pitches out of the strike zone.
- 33:27What are you doing? And he strikes down.
- 33:29There would have been ball four and he would have been ahead.
- 33:32And I'm like this and I and I'm. Here.
- 33:36I'm a big booster of Anthony Bobe.
- 33:40I want the Yankees to sign him as a young player long term,
- 33:44much as your Braves do it players.
- 33:46They sign him early on the process and the Yankees
- 33:49foolishly don't do it. That's the only thing I don't
- 33:52like about Brian Cashman. But yesterday I was exasperated
- 33:56with Anthony Volpe getting up. That was kind of like brutal to
- 34:02watch. And so, though, you know, the
- 34:06big talk with this series was Soto's return to New York.
- 34:10And one of the things, it wasn't so much yesterday, but in the
- 34:14first two games, the Yankees were scared of Soto.
- 34:18It's like they didn't want him to hit a home run.
- 34:20So they kept walking them. So.
- 34:22And oh, George, Mike and yeah, now that George, I was a little
- 34:26before George's time, that was a great center.
- 34:29But for the Minneapolis Lakers, they were cleared up.
- 34:33But they were scared of Juan Soto.
- 34:36And yesterday, Max Reed pitched to a more.
- 34:40They took the chances with Soto and you know, and so though he
- 34:47under swung on one ball, he hit the right field that could have
- 34:50gone out. Defensively, we saw the best and
- 34:54worst DeSoto this series. He played the carom off the
- 34:58wall. Well he got to another ball, you
- 35:01know in the gap well hit. But then we saw you know flaws
- 35:05in this defensive game to why why he gets mixed reviews as a
- 35:10as a fielder and why people are concerned with this 15 year
- 35:14contract. Is he it going to be only ADH in
- 35:187-8 years? That's not good.
- 35:21There was a fly ball hit with runners tagging up at third
- 35:24base, and Soto throws the ball home on three bounces.
- 35:29I mean, Roberto Clemente would have gotten it there on the fly.
- 35:33And I feel with a really good arm, maybe on one bounce and
- 35:39accurate throw. And there was.
- 35:43Yeah. And there was another time with
- 35:44Soto that could have cost the Mets badly.
- 35:48Juan Dominguez is on first base and a ball, you know, balls hit
- 35:54a double S hit. Soto picks it up.
- 35:57He's supposed to hit the cut off man.
- 35:59He doesn't even throw it to the cut off man.
- 36:02He throws it to second base. It's like he wasn't thinking.
- 36:06He wasn't on, you know, he wasn't strategizing and has had
- 36:09the possibilities. What am I supposed to do in this
- 36:12spot? That was terrible fundamental
- 36:15baseball. But with that said, the Soto is
- 36:19going to have some really great years ahead of them.
- 36:22Great, great years. I don't doubt them, the impact
- 36:25he's going to have for the Mets. But defensively, the Mets are
- 36:30lacking a little. It's up, Pete Alonso, a couple
- 36:33of miscues yesterday, one of his throws sailed home way over the
- 36:37catch his head. It was like, whoa, you know?
- 36:41Really. Yeah.
- 36:44I mean, you used the term exasperated Jack.
- 36:47I don't know if you will you do you have to remember this.
- 36:50I remember being a kid watching Hee Haw, and that was one of my
- 36:54favorite shows growing up. And I don't know if they showed
- 36:57it up north where you all were, but it was a, you know, the show
- 37:00Hee Haw, the country show out of Tennessee.
- 37:03And there was a young lady on there every show.
- 37:06She was so pretty. She'd be sitting in a fan,
- 37:09sitting in a swing fan. So it's been such an
- 37:11exasperating day. So as soon as you said that, I
- 37:14was just immediately taken back to that.
- 37:16That's a strong word because that was a game that you're
- 37:20right, Clemente would have been a difference maker.
- 37:22Do you think that Soto going back to New York, going back to
- 37:25well, not New York, but to Yankees?
- 37:28You know, we we saw that they turn their backs, they booed all
- 37:31that. Do you think that that mentally
- 37:33got in his head during his with this performance?
- 37:37I don't know did it affect his performance?
- 37:39But it was on his mind like all the time.
- 37:42You know what it is? It was less hate this Soto
- 37:45thing. People are saying, oh, the
- 37:47Yankee fans hate Soto. I think it's fashionable to do.
- 37:52It's like a big party to boost Soto, get on them.
- 37:56It added to the entertainment of the game.
- 37:59It was kind of like the thing to do because it was such a build
- 38:02up. Oh, the reception that's going
- 38:04to breed Soto when he comes back, back to New Year, to
- 38:07Yankee Stadium. That's all we heard.
- 38:11All went along after he signed with the Mets in the lead up to
- 38:14this game. It was an event.
- 38:16It was a hot ticket. Why was it a hot ticket?
- 38:19Not to see Soto play Yankee fans on play all the last year for
- 38:25them, but to see him come back to Boo.
- 38:28I mean, I'm against booing athletes a lot of times, but in
- 38:33cases like this, it's understandable as long as you
- 38:36don't get vulgar. You could Boo them.
- 38:38You could turn your back on them and let and let's be honest
- 38:41about it. How would you feel if you're a
- 38:44fan? Take the fans in right field in
- 38:46the bleachers and all Last year, whenever Soda would run out to
- 38:50see them, he would lead the charge.
- 38:52Like, pump his fists, get them riled, Have this kind of
- 38:56friendship with the fans out there.
- 38:59And now he went to the arrival across town, but essentially the
- 39:05same money basically. Well, they paid him $700
- 39:09million. That was a little bit more
- 39:12right. No, no, no.
- 39:13As it turned out, I think it was an extra year.
- 39:17They were offering him something.
- 39:19I'm not sure the money and all could have been worked out, the
- 39:23remaining difference or whatever.
- 39:26It wasn't a question. It wasn't a question of 1 team
- 39:30clearly offering a lot more money than another team.
- 39:34So then the player could justify, well, I want this
- 39:38lifetime security. This extra money does mean a lot
- 39:41to me. You know, you laugh about
- 39:43players at times when they make a move about the money and they
- 39:46say it's not about the money. Usually that's about the money.
- 39:50I mean, don't give me that. Yeah.
- 39:52I mean, not, not, not always. And reportedly, you know, the
- 39:58Mets offered better family accommodation.
- 40:01Soto had other people in his ear and I'm not saying he shouldn't
- 40:05have listening to family members.
- 40:08Obviously when they met Steve Conan, the Mets, they saw the
- 40:11family area to this to that. And supposedly Soto wanted his
- 40:18family to have seats in a certain suite that are high
- 40:22profile suites. And the Yankees.
- 40:25Have charged their stars in the past for that because that's an
- 40:28expensive thing to them. Even Cheetah and Judge, they
- 40:33were paying for those extra seats.
- 40:36They're not just good seats, but they're like trying real estate.
- 40:41But the Mets were willing. But the Mets were willing to
- 40:44give Soto, you know, maybe for those seats for good, get extra
- 40:51limo for his family. Extra.
- 40:53Oh, extra that. No.
- 40:56Wow, the Yankees logic was. But if we haven't done this for
- 41:00Judge and Jeter, yeah, we, we can't do it for you, you know,
- 41:04and. He just turned into a prima
- 41:07Donna, honestly. I mean a prima.
- 41:08Donnas all the time Roger Clemens used when he was with
- 41:13the Toronto Blue Jays. He enjoyed playing golf, but
- 41:17players, even though they're wealthy, they like to be given
- 41:20things for free. So Clemens would go to this golf
- 41:24course in the beginning and play for free.
- 41:27And what he would do was plunk down like 20 tickets to a Blue
- 41:31Jays game, figuring, you know, let the staff have that.
- 41:35That's my payment. Obviously he didn't have to pay
- 41:38for the Blue Jays tickets and they started to want to charge
- 41:41Clemens to play at this exclusive club, so he wouldn't
- 41:45play it anymore. If I can't play there for free,
- 41:48he thought, I'm not going to play there.
- 41:49He could easily afford it to play there.
- 41:53But they expect things for free. You know, certain place they go
- 41:58into restaurants, they expect to eat for free.
- 42:02If they're ever charged for. No, they're going to go to the
- 42:05next restaurant that lets them eat for free, which is their
- 42:08right. Yeah, that.
- 42:09Would be their right. They feel like, you know, eating
- 42:13at this establishment, if I'm A Celebrity athlete, I'm bringing
- 42:17the revenue to you because if people know that I'm there, the
- 42:21hype is going to get out that oh, you know, you know, Soto was
- 42:25that this restaurant, blah, blah, blah.
- 42:27You got to eat there because it's where he eats.
- 42:29You know, you always have those fans.
- 42:30This gives it to the whole fandom thing and literally I
- 42:35don't know. But then you see where some
- 42:37athletes go and they they tip really well.
- 42:39You know, they'll have, they're actually paying and the waitress
- 42:42will come on social media and be like, oh, you know, this person
- 42:45was here and they gave me a $600.00 tip or whatever.
- 42:48Not if you're Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods.
- 42:50They were deadbeats. I heard Tiger Woods didn't tip.
- 42:55You know, you know, a guy doesn't care.
- 42:57I mean, maybe he's changed his philosophy.
- 43:00Michael Jordan was either didn't tip or was a cheap tip.
- 43:04I look, athletes did not tip any more than anyone else.
- 43:10That's usually, let's say it's a percentage.
- 43:12Let's say, for example, it's $100.
- 43:16Your bill, $20 is 20%. That's appropriate.
- 43:21But if you're an athlete, A wealthy athlete, and you go into
- 43:24a diner and let's say the bill's $100 and you leave 120, that's
- 43:29appropriate. That's appropriate.
- 43:32That's because you're a wealthy athlete.
- 43:34They think, oh, he's so cheap, he should have at least at least
- 43:37$50. Why?
- 43:40I mean, because, OK, let me just tell you from personal
- 43:43experience, 2 situations, Jack, you know, because you live in
- 43:47Florida part of the year in Florida, at least in Miami,
- 43:50because I was there a couple years ago, I was there with one
- 43:53of the person and everywhere we went, they tipped on top of a
- 43:57tip. Like they, they added gratuity
- 44:00because during the pandemic, people weren't tipping and they
- 44:02said they actually came. I'm talking about even if you
- 44:04got A to go order, it was still gratuity 1820% plus you were
- 44:11expecting to tip because people were not tipping at all.
- 44:16On the flip side of that, I was a waitress years ago, and this
- 44:21wrapper came into the restaurant I was in.
- 44:24Now, this is still a celebrity. People know this person.
- 44:27He had a bunch of people with him, a bunch of kids.
- 44:31It clearly was his family. They were probably like 10
- 44:34people in his party. And they ran me like a Kentucky
- 44:38Derby horse. OK Jack, their bill was was at
- 44:44least close to $200. He gave me a $3 tip.
- 44:50He didn't even meet the the minimum I was.
- 44:54Looking at. The receipt, Like did he miss a
- 44:57zero? Like at least 30, Sir.
- 44:59Like are you kidding me? No, he's a rapper.
- 45:02Money. It's a $200.00 bill.
- 45:05Leave $50. That's 25%. $3 I never forgot
- 45:12that $3 and I know who he is. To this day every time I hear
- 45:17something about him I it clicks in my mind like he is so
- 45:20terrible and his attitude was bad too.
- 45:23His attitude was horrible so I wasn't even trying to be a fan I
- 45:27was just trying to take care of him as a customer and the the
- 45:30female he was with was compliments.
- 45:32She like thank you for everything, you were great, blah
- 45:34blah, but he was such a snob. Like you should have said, you
- 45:38should have said at the end. Thank you for the $3 tip.
- 45:41I appreciate. It he he left it so he left it
- 45:44after I like went to the back. So he left a whole bunch of
- 45:48stuff on the table. Like, you know, some people just
- 45:50sign the sign your receipt and they walk out.
- 45:53When I came out, you know, I. I would have maybe gone outside
- 45:56handing the $3. That's what one of my Co
- 45:59workers. Said it was my pleasure to
- 46:02serve. It's an honor for me to serve
- 46:04you, Sir, for you here. I don't need the $3 tip, you
- 46:09know, Really. I don't, I don't feel right
- 46:11taking it. He wrote it on the one of my Co
- 46:17workers told me I should go out in the parking lot and approach
- 46:20him and say the same thing. Like you know what, you clearly
- 46:22needed $3 more than me. You go right ahead and you take
- 46:25that. But.
- 46:25Yeah, but that case is listen to cases when I back the athlete
- 46:29not being cheap, Michael Jordan gets a drink in Vegas.
- 46:32How much was his drink? And it might cost, let's say it
- 46:34was $20.00 for argument's sake, he gave a $5 tip.
- 46:40If it's a $20 drink and you give a $5 tip, that's appropriate.
- 46:46That's 25%, that's 25. It's appropriate.
- 46:51An average person, if I got a $20 drink and I gave $25 for the
- 46:58waitress, $5, she brought me back a $20 drink.
- 47:02I think that's appropriate that. Is.
- 47:05But my if Michael Jordan does it, he's considered cheap.
- 47:08And Wayne Gretzky said that's not how we roll in Vegas and
- 47:12tells Jordan to give $100 on the 20.
- 47:15You know, but that's that. But the point is, I don't want
- 47:22to hear athletes getting cheapest that myself.
- 47:25And Mac used to have a lot of fun with this.
- 47:26I told Mac I once got into Dunkin' Donuts.
- 47:29I get one donut. I think could I have a Jelly
- 47:31donut and that behind the counter, I'm not sitting eating
- 47:34it there. They just hand me the Jelly
- 47:36doughnut. What's not leaving a tip because
- 47:40the person Mitochonda gives me a Jelly doughnut to cash.
- 47:44Order orders are optional. Matt says throw in a buck.
- 47:48He would tell me throw down the buck.
- 47:51Oh, really? Matt, come on.
- 47:53It's fine. It's not for me.
- 47:56Yeah. Sometimes I do, like if I'm at
- 47:58Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts. I don't.
- 48:00I don't always tip if I'm if I have A to go order on like that,
- 48:05but it but because I used to be the the person that took to go
- 48:10orders and I knew that those tips were appreciated.
- 48:13It comes from personal experience that every now and
- 48:16then I try to if I have it now, because sometimes I really don't
- 48:19have it, I'll throw at least a dollar in.
- 48:21But but to for them, like you said, like the the the most me
- 48:25is like, OK, if you got something that's already pre
- 48:28made and you're just handing it to me, I'll sometimes I'll ask
- 48:31them, I'll be like, you guys have a tip chip jar that
- 48:33everybody shares or how does that work?
- 48:36And those people at Dunkin' Donuts are already paid hourly.
- 48:38So it really doesn't matter about the tips.
- 48:40But for waitresses, Jack. That absolutely, absolutely.
- 48:45And I'm always generous for waitresses.
- 48:48Absolutely. That's.
- 48:49But even the to go order most of waitresses and some restaurants.
- 48:55I went into Atlantic City once. OK.
- 48:58All I did was get a bag of nuts. That's, you know, one of those
- 49:01convenience stores. It's $7.00, a $10.00 bill.
- 49:06I'm asked do I want back any change my $3 for one quick bag
- 49:11and nuts like, you know, And I say, yeah, I do.
- 49:13You know, I'm not tipping in the instances, but you get.
- 49:18Yeah, no, yeah. No, you're not if you're going
- 49:23in a store like that's, yeah. But begin with the wrap up.
- 49:26But the thing with Tiger Woods, he wouldn't just tip.
- 49:30And you're telling me the story with the rapper.
- 49:32I mean, that's disgusting. And Michael Jordan was a
- 49:35deadbeat tipper to that be times I heard he wouldn't tip.
- 49:38And Charles Barkley when he was friends with Jordan and Woods,
- 49:43he I remember him on the talk show and Charles Barkley was a
- 49:46generous tipper. Charles Barkley would tell Tiger
- 49:50Woods and you know, and Michael Jordan that you guys got to
- 49:56change your ways. Yeah, they're millionaires.
- 49:59Let's let's let's move on to the next series.
- 50:03This was a big MLB news. I didn't even realize that the
- 50:06the news for MLB that this was rivalry weekend across the
- 50:09board. So the Angels and the Dodgers
- 50:11also completed a three-game sweep.
- 50:14The Angels literally swept the Dodgers, Jack, three games.
- 50:18I can't believe it with Travis Diamond, former Brave, hitting a
- 50:23go ahead home run in the eighth inning in the latest win.
- 50:27I'm so tired of all these former Braves everywhere winning.
- 50:31You know, you just, you just said something, Sonia, that's
- 50:35thought provoking and I never even thought about it.
- 50:39I don't remember coming on the news last year.
- 50:42Otani leaves the Los Angeles Angels to go to the Los Angeles
- 50:48Dodges. But we didn't.
- 50:50We didn't get the one Soto hate. I don't remember anything.
- 50:55I think the Angel fans gave him an ovation when he left.
- 51:01Them, yeah. I think it's a little, well, I
- 51:05think it's different than one since the Angel fans, in all due
- 51:09respect to them, on as passionate as the Yankee fans
- 51:13they have and the team Zoltani was on weren't winning.
- 51:18He wasn't leaving a winner. He just got to the World Series
- 51:22and had the potential to go back.
- 51:25But though Tommy didn't get that level of discontent that Soto
- 51:29got with the Yankees, not even close.
- 51:31If anything, he may have been greeted wrongly.
- 51:34I I mean, I don't know Jack especially I still just can't
- 51:38get over he got his interpreter locked up, so I just.
- 51:48And he basically had his interpreter take the rap so he
- 51:57could keep it. There's no way, Oh Tawny's bank
- 52:00account, there's no way. I have a bank account and I
- 52:03never look at it. And when I do look at it, I see
- 52:06there's either a decrease or a significant increase, and I
- 52:10don't say anything. He had knowledge, and in some
- 52:13states, knowledge is culpable. You're culpable enough to go
- 52:17down with the person that's committed the offense.
- 52:19So even though his interpreter is now incarcerated or is about
- 52:22to be incarcerated, Oh Tawny was not 100% vindicated from that
- 52:26situation. I don't know whether he had
- 52:31knowledge of everything in his bank account.
- 52:34I mean, you have a lot of athletes who don't.
- 52:37They trust other people with their money, with their this,
- 52:40with their that. I don't know.
- 52:43There's no evidence that Otani knew anything at all.
- 52:47OK. There's no evidence at all.
- 52:49And unless I'm shown some evidence, you know, I move on
- 52:53from him. I got to believe if Otani was
- 52:56involved in any way, it would have come out.
- 53:00I can't see his interpretive going to jail, willing to go to
- 53:05jail and take a rap. I mean, they would less they
- 53:09would lessen a sentence whenever there's a big name, you know,
- 53:14prosecutors could get something on a big name athlete.
- 53:17They'll they'll go after anyone with a big name.
- 53:20Images change very, very quickly.
- 53:23Players with the biggest images change.
- 53:25It could change on them. They could go from the most
- 53:28popular athlete to, you know, one of the least popular of the
- 53:33night. That's a society we live in.
- 53:36There's no evidence. So, Connie, did anything, you
- 53:38know, wrong at all? I just, I'm, I'm just of the
- 53:42mindset that I guess I've been watching Sopranos and all these
- 53:46mob movies too much because you see where big people get caught
- 53:50up and stuff and they get as they call the little fish to
- 53:53take the rap and then they'll, they promise to take care of
- 53:56them while they're in jail. You know, they'll put money on
- 53:58their books so they can get commissary and everything.
- 54:01And it never comes out as long as the person is is quiet about
- 54:04it. They didn't give him a
- 54:06significant amount of time. But if it had been Ohtani, he
- 54:10would have been stricken from MLB.
- 54:12We see that they do lifetime bands.
- 54:14And we may be looking at another situation like the Pete Rose
- 54:18situation, where Otani would have never been, you know, not
- 54:21to mention he's from, you know, Japan.
- 54:24He may have been forced to leave the country.
- 54:26We don't know what would have happened with that.
- 54:27Situation. But I don't want to speculate.
- 54:30You know, nothing came out Otani did anything wrong.
- 54:33And, you know, we hope that's the case.
- 54:37But now I'm not so sure. There should be a, a lifetime
- 54:45ban on an athlete who bets on his own team a bets on another
- 54:49game for fun. I wouldn't want to ruin a career
- 54:53if the athlete has a habit of betting constantly, you know, if
- 54:56they're caught doing it, the league should deal with it.
- 54:59This should be a suspension, perhaps a year like Calvin
- 55:03Ridley, you know, the wide receiver got suspended, you
- 55:07know, Yeah, I believe betting. And then he had.
- 55:10Some, you know, other he's in Tennessee now he's.
- 55:13In Tennessee and. Then he went, I think to
- 55:16Florida. Now he's in Tennessee, back back
- 55:18playing. Yeah, and, and if I'm wrong
- 55:22about Calvin Ridley, what I said, then I I apologize to him,
- 55:26you know, Emery, But yeah, you know, I mean, I I hope he has a
- 55:32big year and I hope he has a great career.
- 55:34He's, you know, good receiver, you know, too.
- 55:39And he's overcome certain, you know, mental issues.
- 55:42It's trying to overcome it. And, you know, and someone like
- 55:45that I always root for. But, you know, it depends that
- 55:51they would talk of Michael Jordan, whatever his gambling in
- 55:54the Atlantic City for what you know, how he could be out early
- 55:59mornings. He tried to make more out of
- 56:00things than they are. Jordan hardly ever slept as it
- 56:03is. And what Jordan was betting in
- 56:06Atlantic City, that's his business.
- 56:08He could afford to. Rick said he's going to check.
- 56:12That's not timely. Get that, I will put that on
- 56:15there. You Sonia.
- 56:16Rick Timely. Rick was Sonia.
- 56:20It's not timely. What, Rick now Rick just before.
- 56:25Rick wants to know. Rick wants to know.
- 56:28Let's move on to the Florida matchup.
- 56:29The Marlins picture tools Immaculate.
- 56:32Any you know, just turning stone.
- 56:35Quantrio of the Miami Marlins pitched the first Immaculate
- 56:38inning of the 2025 MLB season against the Tampa Bay Rays,
- 56:42striking out three batters on 9 pitches in a single inning.
- 56:48That is insane. That was another matchup of the
- 56:52rivalries and the Cincinnati Reds completed a sweep with Will
- 56:56Benson hitting two home runs and their latest victory and then
- 56:59the Minnesota Twins their win streak.
- 57:01They had a 13 game-winning streak.
- 57:03It has been snapped by the Milwaukee Brewers with a key
- 57:08home run robbery by Jackson Torrio preserving the Brewers
- 57:11win and the Phillies pitcher Mick Abel had a strong Major
- 57:17League debut, striking out nine in a win over the Pirates and
- 57:20their star Paul Skeens. So those were all the MLB news.
- 57:26However, Jose Alvarado has been the pitcher.
- 57:30Philly reliever has been suspended for 80 games after
- 57:35testing positive for PEDs. Yeah, W Tax.
- 57:40We haven't seen them for a while to talk about the Philadelphia
- 57:43team. I we have not seen, we have not
- 57:49seen pegs and, and yeah, that's about our time for the day
- 57:54though, Jack. We we got to wrap it up, Jack
- 57:56and myself. Kudos to the Twins for their 13
- 58:00game-winning streak. Tonight on glove 5th, 7:00 PM
- 58:04Eastern Time during the show. Franklin Terzo myself during the
- 58:09show we're going to have on James Bone Crusher Smith, former
