- 0:17Speaker 1: Hey, everybody, welcome back to another episode of I Do
- 0:19Speaker 1: Part two. Brian Austin Green and I am speaking with
- 0:22Speaker 1: Shannon Elizabeth and we've had an amazing conversation so far,
- 0:25Speaker 1: so we want to get back into this. Let's get
- 0:28Speaker 1: into a little bit of what it is you do
- 0:30Speaker 1: because people hear you're an animal activist, which a lot
- 0:34Speaker 1: of people hear about other people. You again, you're talking
- 0:40Speaker 1: to me from South Africa right now, so you're really
- 0:43Speaker 1: doing it like you are in this You're going you're
- 0:46Speaker 1: going strong. So tell me a little bit about how
- 0:49Speaker 1: this started and what it is you do now.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Okay, So after American Pie, it was my first time
- 0:58Speaker 2: I was in a position to giving back and I
- 1:01Speaker 2: knew animals was my mission on the planet to help animals,
- 1:05Speaker 2: and my partner and I at the time, we went
- 1:09Speaker 2: to all the animal rescues around town and decided we're
- 1:12Speaker 2: going to do this ourselves, and so we started the
- 1:15Speaker 2: charity Animal Avengers, and that was in two thousand and one.
- 1:20Speaker 2: After running it that way for over ten years, I
- 1:23Speaker 2: just knew I wanted to help more animals on a
- 1:24Speaker 2: bigger scale. I didn't know what that looked like yet,
- 1:27Speaker 2: and just went on this journey of discovery, and eventually
- 1:31Speaker 2: I was led to New York. I went to an
- 1:34Speaker 2: ivory and Rhinohorn Crush and met a lot of conservationists there,
- 1:39Speaker 2: and so I started following all these conservation organizations online.
- 1:43Speaker 2: And one night I was getting ready to go out
- 1:46Speaker 2: and something said to me, check Instagram. So I checked Instagram.
- 1:51Speaker 2: I didn't know what I was looking for, and I
- 1:55Speaker 2: ran across this video of a ranger in the field
- 1:58Speaker 2: and he's scanning with this phone what he sees in
- 2:01Speaker 2: front of him, and you see a trunk of an
- 2:04Speaker 2: elephant off to the side, and then you see kind
- 2:07Speaker 2: of you could just kind of make out the face
- 2:09Speaker 2: and the body, and you hear him say this, poor
- 2:12Speaker 2: baby's been out here all night suffering.
- 2:15Speaker 3: And then she moved.
- 2:16Speaker 2: And that moment when she moved got me like nothing
- 2:21Speaker 2: I had ever been through before. I couldn't stop crying.
- 2:25Speaker 2: I didn't realize how much they were suffering. I think
- 2:28Speaker 2: I just assumed that a hunter or a poacher would
- 2:33Speaker 2: just go out and kill the animal. But no, like
- 2:36Speaker 2: the poachers will sometimes disable them. They might cut their
- 2:41Speaker 2: achilles tendon or cut their spinal cord, so they can't run,
- 2:46Speaker 2: and then they take what they want and that's it
- 2:48Speaker 2: and they leave them to bleed out and die. And
- 2:51Speaker 2: it was in that moment a switch was flipped in
- 2:54Speaker 2: me and I said, this is what I have to
- 2:55Speaker 2: do with the charity, the idea that these animals could
- 2:58Speaker 2: go extinct in our lifetime. I can't do nothing now
- 3:02Speaker 2: that I know that.
- 3:03Speaker 4: How are people that that is? That?
- 3:06Speaker 1: That is mind blowing that someone could be that heartless
- 3:12Speaker 1: and just that removed from just emotional connection with animals
- 3:21Speaker 1: in the world around them.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Yeah, the problem is that it goes so much deeper
- 3:26Speaker 2: than that. It's so do you remember way back in
- 3:31Speaker 2: the day, there were a bunch of school girls that
- 3:33Speaker 2: were kidnapped in I think Kenya or Mozambique, and there
- 3:40Speaker 2: was a syndicate Bocahram, and there was there was Boco
- 3:44Speaker 2: Rum and there was Al Shabab, two really big syndicates.
- 3:49Speaker 2: One of those kidnapped the girls. So these are just
- 3:52Speaker 2: examples of two syndicates. What these syndicates do is every
- 3:56Speaker 2: illegal thing you can think of within the course of
- 3:59Speaker 2: a month, and they rotate it throughout the month. So
- 4:02Speaker 2: poaching happens during the full moon. They call it a
- 4:05Speaker 2: poacher's moon. And when they kidnap these girls, they need
- 4:10Speaker 2: lots of guns, lots of artillery, like they're terrorists. So
- 4:16Speaker 2: the easiest way for them to get the money to
- 4:18Speaker 2: buy the guns is wildlife trafficking, and it's killing animals
- 4:22Speaker 2: for the parts. Now, they might go to a local
- 4:27Speaker 2: villager outside of the park and say we're giving you
- 4:31Speaker 2: a pango, which is a big knife. We're giving you
- 4:34Speaker 2: a gun, and all you have to do is go
- 4:36Speaker 2: into that park, get a rhino horn and bring it out,
- 4:40Speaker 2: and we will give you one thousand dollars, which is
- 4:42Speaker 2: more they've seen their whole life. That rhino horn's worth
- 4:47Speaker 2: half a million dollars on the black market, so they're
- 4:51Speaker 2: getting a tiny little piece. The syndicates are making massive
- 4:55Speaker 2: money from this. They're not risking anything, and they've got
- 5:00Speaker 2: very clever and they're very well organized and funded, so
- 5:05Speaker 2: they they know how to go into an area and
- 5:08Speaker 2: start blackmailing someone. So it'd be like, oh, Brian, your
- 5:13Speaker 2: little girl needs a surgery. Oh we heard about that.
- 5:16Speaker 2: It's horrible. You don't have the money here, we'll pay
- 5:18Speaker 2: for it. Don't worry, We've got this. I'll pay for
- 5:21Speaker 2: the surgery, she'll be okay, and then it goes from there.
- 5:26Speaker 2: It's like, oh, well you owe us. Now you've got
- 5:28Speaker 2: to do what we say. Now, so you've got information
- 5:31Speaker 2: on where the anti poaching team is going tonight, So
- 5:34Speaker 2: we're going to go the other way. You're going to
- 5:36Speaker 2: tell us where they're going, and we're going to poach
- 5:39Speaker 2: in the other direction. Oh, if you don't, we're going
- 5:41Speaker 2: to kill your family. We're going to torture them. We're
- 5:44Speaker 2: going to torture your wife in front of you, and
- 5:46Speaker 2: they it.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Goes on that. You know, you don't want to kill
- 5:49Speaker 3: the animal, but now.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Your Facebook they own you. At that point, they own you.
- 5:55Speaker 2: So it could go one of many ways, but that's
- 5:58Speaker 2: that's one of the ways it can go. And it's
- 6:01Speaker 2: these people that are actually going out and doing the killing.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Most of the time, they don't want to kill. They
- 6:06Speaker 2: just want to feed their family, They just want to survive.
- 6:08Speaker 2: They just want to live.
- 6:10Speaker 1: And at that point, they've been threatened that if they
- 6:12Speaker 1: don't do it, then terrible things will happen to them.
- 6:15Speaker 2: So that's why and conservation, one of the biggest things
- 6:19Speaker 2: you can do to protect animals is uplift the people
- 6:22Speaker 2: around the parks is to work with them and give
- 6:26Speaker 2: them real ways of making money, making a living generation
- 6:32Speaker 2: after generation, not just like here's a job for today,
- 6:35Speaker 2: but teaching skills and developing skills that they can always
- 6:39Speaker 2: fall back on. And when you get a community on
- 6:42Speaker 2: your side and they can make money because of the
- 6:46Speaker 2: work they're doing with you, your organization, your sanctuary, whatever
- 6:51Speaker 2: it may be, then they want to protect you and
- 6:53Speaker 2: they want to protect the animals because that's their livelihood.
- 6:56Speaker 2: And so that is not a band aid real answer.
- 7:01Speaker 2: A lot of there's a lot of band aids going on.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Why people work on the real answers in the background.
- 7:06Speaker 2: But it's hard and it's I mean, this is happening
- 7:08Speaker 2: at every park all over the world. They're quite often
- 7:12Speaker 2: outside the parks is where there's a lot of poverty,
- 7:15Speaker 2: and so you have to like work with those communities.
- 7:18Speaker 2: It's really important.
- 7:29Speaker 4: How did this even happen for you? Like how how
- 7:32Speaker 4: did you.
- 7:33Speaker 1: End up where you are doing what you're doing? I
- 7:36Speaker 1: mean you you moved again. You're in South Africa. Like
- 7:41Speaker 1: normally when people think South Africa, they think like you're
- 7:45Speaker 1: just walking down the street and you're like, oh, lion
- 7:47Speaker 1: what's up man? Like, you know, you're riding an elephant
- 7:49Speaker 1: to work like that?
- 7:51Speaker 4: People have those.
- 7:52Speaker 1: My fiance is from Australia, so it's the same thing
- 7:54Speaker 1: I tell people, like, Oh, Australia is beautiful and they're like, oh,
- 7:57Speaker 1: but there's deadly snakes and spiders.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Yeah, money cities Like if I get me.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Out back, you know, if I'm out there, like at
- 8:05Speaker 1: the Australia Zoo with the Irwins, I'm going to see
- 8:07Speaker 1: some of that stuff.
- 8:08Speaker 4: But otherwise I'm in a city.
- 8:12Speaker 1: How did you happen to just travel there first doing
- 8:16Speaker 1: something else and then that that caught your attention or
- 8:19Speaker 1: did you travel there specifically for animal activism and then
- 8:23Speaker 1: you decide to stay.
- 8:24Speaker 2: It's mainly the second one. I did travel here once
- 8:27Speaker 2: first actually for poker. I was out here for a
- 8:31Speaker 2: poker term.
- 8:32Speaker 4: Wait, yeah, I love that. That That poker is what.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Brought you to South Africa and then you ended up
- 8:38Speaker 1: staying for the activity it was.
- 8:39Speaker 2: It was actually two things. It was poker and I
- 8:42Speaker 2: was shooting a documentary for I think it was Say
- 8:47Speaker 2: the Children or Feed the Children. It was one of
- 8:49Speaker 2: these organizations and it was with oh gosh, there was
- 8:53Speaker 2: a lot of people.
- 8:53Speaker 3: You would know. Actually I can see the faces.
- 8:57Speaker 1: It's okay, we're old, so I know buffer sometimes.
- 9:04Speaker 2: So it was with a bunch of people, and so
- 9:07Speaker 2: it was a trip where I got to do that.
- 9:09Speaker 2: And then I did a big poker tournament here in
- 9:12Speaker 2: South Africa. So the and the filming was in Kenya.
- 9:15Speaker 2: So that was my first time to be in Africa.
- 9:18Speaker 2: But that was like two thousand and six or two
- 9:20Speaker 2: thousand and eight, and then I didn't think anything of
- 9:22Speaker 2: it after that. So I didn't know about the poaching.
- 9:25Speaker 2: I didn't know about any of that then. So when
- 9:27Speaker 2: I saw that video of the elephant online and that flipped,
- 9:31Speaker 2: that switch was flipped in me.
- 9:33Speaker 3: I said, this is I.
- 9:35Speaker 2: I kind of evaluated my life and the people in
- 9:38Speaker 2: my life at that point. And there were a lot
- 9:40Speaker 2: of people around me from South Africa. Some people were
- 9:43Speaker 2: in South Africa and some were South Africans that were
- 9:46Speaker 2: in New York with me. Like I just realized the
- 9:49Speaker 2: universe was saying South Africa. I'm like, finally one day,
- 9:53Speaker 2: I was like, okay, I hear you. Something's in South
- 9:55Speaker 2: Africa for me.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Got it?
- 9:57Speaker 2: So I put together a fundraiser to raise funds to
- 10:01Speaker 2: come out here to help a few organizations as a
- 10:03Speaker 2: way to just start exploring like what could I do
- 10:06Speaker 2: to help? And I got the names of some organizations
- 10:10Speaker 2: through friends I knew and trusted and came out and said, Okay.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Well what do you need. I'm going to buy you supplies.
- 10:17Speaker 3: And I did like.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Like an Amazon fundraiser as well, where people bought supplies
- 10:22Speaker 2: for vets and like camera traps for in the field.
- 10:29Speaker 2: And so I came with a bag full of supplies
- 10:32Speaker 2: and then I had ten thousand dollars for three different
- 10:35Speaker 2: charities where I could buy something for them that would
- 10:38Speaker 2: help them in the field. And that was kind of
- 10:40Speaker 2: where I started, and that was I think twenty fifteen.
- 10:44Speaker 2: So I did that trip and went back to New
- 10:49Speaker 2: York and there was this moment where everybody was standing
- 10:53Speaker 2: at the crosswalk and everyone's like on their phone like this,
- 10:57Speaker 2: and the crosswalk goes and everyone's walking as fast as
- 11:00Speaker 2: they can but their faces down in their phone and
- 11:03Speaker 2: I'm just watching this and there's it just kind of
- 11:05Speaker 2: hit me that like everyone's racing like dealing with a problem,
- 11:10Speaker 2: but I'm like, I don't feel like these are real problems,
- 11:13Speaker 2: Like these are first world problems, but there's people dealing
- 11:17Speaker 2: with real struggles out there and real issues. And I
- 11:21Speaker 2: had seen like a different side of the world when
- 11:24Speaker 2: I came to Africa, and I just felt like I
- 11:27Speaker 2: wanted to be closer to the issues.
- 11:29Speaker 3: I wanted to come out here.
- 11:31Speaker 2: It was the only way I was going to learn
- 11:32Speaker 2: and try to understand what I could do to make
- 11:34Speaker 2: a difference and help.
- 11:35Speaker 3: And I just decided in that moment.
- 11:39Speaker 1: It's amazing when the universe puts you in that perspective
- 11:43Speaker 1: where you see things in a different way and you go,
- 11:45Speaker 1: you know what, there is nothing for me to serve here,
- 11:50Speaker 1: So I need to figure out where I am more
- 11:54Speaker 1: useful than I am right now in this space. And
- 11:58Speaker 1: you and you dedicate yourself to that. That's amazing. And
- 12:01Speaker 1: I think people find out at different ages and different
- 12:04Speaker 1: times in their life, for sure.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Yeah, And I think as long as you find that,
- 12:08Speaker 2: because I do feel like we all have a mission
- 12:10Speaker 2: here and we're all here for a purpose, and some
- 12:13Speaker 2: people the purpose is literally to have a family. That
- 12:17Speaker 2: is a purpose, you.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Know, to populate the world, to.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Bring other people in that will have their mission and
- 12:23Speaker 2: their purpose. But everyone has a reason for being here.
- 12:27Speaker 2: And I think I always knew at a young age
- 12:29Speaker 2: that animals were my purpose, helping give a voice to
- 12:33Speaker 2: animals that didn't have that voice. And I just I
- 12:36Speaker 2: didn't know what that looked like. I didn't know how
- 12:40Speaker 2: I was going to help animals. That was just something
- 12:42Speaker 2: that over time. I mean, I still question it all
- 12:44Speaker 2: the time. Am I doing enough? Am I doing what
- 12:47Speaker 2: I'm meant to be doing? Am I on the right path?
- 12:49Speaker 2: Or should I be listening to something else?
- 12:52Speaker 1: Was there something in particular that started that for you.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Were you in a situation where you were like, god,
- 12:59Speaker 1: I can I'd like, I really care about this animal,
- 13:02Speaker 1: and then it sort of broadened your mind to things.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Was there if you're looking back, because I strongly believe
- 13:08Speaker 1: in like catalysts, like these moments that happen where it
- 13:12Speaker 1: like a switch flips. Like you said you were standing
- 13:15Speaker 1: on the street corner and you saw people walking with
- 13:17Speaker 1: their phones. Was there something for you that was an
- 13:21Speaker 1: absolute catalyst of like, it's animals, this is what I'm
- 13:25Speaker 1: here for.
- 13:26Speaker 4: I know it more than anything.
- 13:29Speaker 3: I do.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Remember driving down the street with my dad in Texas
- 13:33Speaker 2: as a little girl and there would be say, a
- 13:36Speaker 2: dead armadillo in the middle of the road and I
- 13:39Speaker 2: would scream bloody murder. He'd slam on the brakes. What
- 13:42Speaker 2: what what? I'm like, there was a dead animal in
- 13:44Speaker 2: the road, like I would freak out, just as a
- 13:47Speaker 2: little girl. And he's like, oh, I thought I was
- 13:49Speaker 2: gonna hit a person. I'm like, as long as you
- 13:51Speaker 2: don't hit an animal, Like I was just all about
- 13:54Speaker 2: don't hit the animal. And it was just something that
- 13:58Speaker 2: I think I was just born with. I we had
- 14:01Speaker 2: a dog, and when the dog was no longer with us,
- 14:03Speaker 2: my parents did not let me get another animal. And
- 14:06Speaker 2: that's when I was like, well, I'm gonna have tons
- 14:08Speaker 2: of animals then when I grow up, because I can,
- 14:10Speaker 2: and you're not letting me have another animal.
- 14:12Speaker 3: And it was all about the animals for me.
- 14:14Speaker 2: It was just something I think I was born with
- 14:16Speaker 2: that just over time developed almost in a almost in
- 14:22Speaker 2: a way that it's like you don't even have control
- 14:24Speaker 2: over it. It just happens, you know, It just happens.
- 14:27Speaker 2: A dog comes to you, and now that dog is yours,
- 14:30Speaker 2: it just happens they find you.
- 14:32Speaker 1: For sure, was there someone in your life that like
- 14:36Speaker 1: you modeled that behavi Was there an aunt or somebody
- 14:40Speaker 1: that was that was very similar in the same way
- 14:42Speaker 1: that you sort of watched and you thought, oh, that's
- 14:44Speaker 1: really interesting. No, just completely your own amazing.
- 14:48Speaker 2: I can't think of anyone in my life that was
- 14:50Speaker 2: an animal person like me.
- 14:52Speaker 4: Isn't it weird how that how that happens.
- 14:55Speaker 1: It's so I have five kids, which is shocking for
- 14:59Speaker 1: a lot of people to here. But I always say, like,
- 15:01Speaker 1: it's really interesting that people get so caught up in
- 15:05Speaker 1: this thing of like, oh, I want to I want
- 15:07Speaker 1: to like raise a young version of myself or a
- 15:11Speaker 1: little version of me, or a mini me or And
- 15:15Speaker 1: kids are people, and they are absolutely unique and they're
- 15:20Speaker 1: themselves no matter what you do, and you can either
- 15:22Speaker 1: support that or you can that up early on, you know.
- 15:26Speaker 1: So like to me, I always have a sense of like, oh,
- 15:29Speaker 1: my job as a parent is to make sure that morally.
- 15:32Speaker 4: They're good people. I don't care what they do, like.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Your career, your passions, your thing or yours. Just be
- 15:39Speaker 1: a good person while you're doing it. But it's so
- 15:42Speaker 1: interesting that you just had this individual innate draw and
- 15:48Speaker 1: need for this in your life and you found a
- 15:50Speaker 1: passion with that.
- 15:51Speaker 4: That's that's so incredible to hear.
- 15:53Speaker 1: I think I wish that more people listened to that
- 15:58Speaker 1: instinct and follow that, because there's so many people that
- 16:03Speaker 1: are just kind of in these sort of dead end
- 16:05Speaker 1: jobs and these things where they're just their jobs, like
- 16:08Speaker 1: it's not really a it's not really a life or
- 16:10Speaker 1: a career.
- 16:10Speaker 4: It's not a passion.
- 16:11Speaker 1: And so my dad always said to me, if you
- 16:14Speaker 1: do something that you love doing, you'll never work a
- 16:16Speaker 1: day in your life.
- 16:17Speaker 4: And it's true. When you find some I love.
- 16:20Speaker 1: What I do, and when I get to work doing
- 16:23Speaker 1: any of those things, I love it. And getting up
- 16:26Speaker 1: early sometimes sucks, Like yeah, you get up at four
- 16:30Speaker 1: thirty in the morning, You're like, oh, this is you know,
- 16:32Speaker 1: just I.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Wish I had one more hour.
- 16:35Speaker 1: So the two things can be true at the same time,
- 16:37Speaker 1: you know, it's I don't feel like emotions are mutually exclusive.
- 16:40Speaker 1: You can have two things. You can be proud of
- 16:42Speaker 1: your friend and then you can also be envious of
- 16:45Speaker 1: your friend at the same time and wish you had
- 16:47Speaker 1: that opportunity. You can be jealous of them, like both
- 16:49Speaker 1: things can live simultaneously.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Well, look, the good thing is is that it's never
- 16:54Speaker 2: too late to follow your passion. It's never too late,
- 16:57Speaker 2: never too late. Reinvent yourself to do, to do your
- 17:01Speaker 2: next chapter. You know, like having that job, it's great
- 17:06Speaker 2: and it's a job, and we need jobs to survive.
- 17:09Speaker 2: I mean, acting was my job, but my mission on
- 17:12Speaker 2: the planet is the animals, right, And if I can
- 17:14Speaker 2: find a way that my job supports my mission, than great,
- 17:19Speaker 2: I'm winning. Then That's what I think it was given
- 17:22Speaker 2: to me for. Is that platform is there to support
- 17:25Speaker 2: the real work that I need to do.
- 17:27Speaker 4: Sure, and it's a strange platform. I always say. So.
- 17:31Speaker 1: I started acting when I was nine. I love acting,
- 17:35Speaker 1: I love being on set doing it. But at the
- 17:39Speaker 1: point when I turned fifty, I was like, God, there's
- 17:41Speaker 1: so much more that I want to do than just
- 17:43Speaker 1: be an actor. So I really got into this, into
- 17:47Speaker 1: this place of wanting to connect with people and help
- 17:50Speaker 1: people and sort of serve that way. And it's all
- 17:53Speaker 1: about the legacy that I leave behind. And my legacy
- 17:58Speaker 1: is I want to be kind to everyone that I meet.
- 18:03Speaker 1: I want to like positively affect people. And I have
- 18:06Speaker 1: this crazy platform I didn't ask for. But you know,
- 18:10Speaker 1: nine O two one zero is this weird fucking thing
- 18:12Speaker 1: that we were on it was like, oh my god,
- 18:14Speaker 1: people actually give us what I say, so cool. Let
- 18:17Speaker 1: me like, let me affect some positive change with that.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Let me use this thing to accomplish what it is.
- 18:24Speaker 1: I genuinely feel like I'm here to accomplish, which is
- 18:28Speaker 1: I want to be. I want to help people as
- 18:31Speaker 1: often as I can. And sometimes that's just with little
- 18:34Speaker 1: like light bulb moments. Sometimes that's you know, doing charitable work.
- 18:38Speaker 1: There are all different ways that I can that I
- 18:40Speaker 1: can serve and do that.
- 18:43Speaker 4: I love. I love animals, so I always have.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I've always had pets, I've always had animals around me,
- 18:49Speaker 1: and I've had every kind of animal you can think of,
- 18:52Speaker 1: snakes and dogs and goats and rabbits and like everything
- 18:57Speaker 1: except for legal ones, except for ones that you shouldn't have.
- 19:00Speaker 2: But good, good, I like to hear that that are
- 19:04Speaker 2: just that that just feel caged up, and you've got
- 19:07Speaker 2: them because it's fun to have.
- 19:09Speaker 4: Exactly Well.
- 19:10Speaker 2: The thing and the thing with conservation that I didn't
- 19:14Speaker 2: know when I got into it is that the way
- 19:17Speaker 2: to truly protect the animals is to work with and
- 19:20Speaker 2: uplift the people. So you know, it's kind of hand
- 19:24Speaker 2: in hand so as much as my passion and my
- 19:27Speaker 2: reason is for the animals, it means I'm also working
- 19:32Speaker 2: with the people and and I'm uplifting and helping people,
- 19:35Speaker 2: So I I kind of get the best of both
- 19:37Speaker 2: worlds there.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Before I let you go, because I know you have
- 19:51Speaker 1: rhinos to say this, like I'm the last person that
- 19:54Speaker 1: you need to be talking to, I want to ask
- 19:57Speaker 1: you uh quickly before we go.
- 19:59Speaker 4: And it's kind kind of it's a thing for me.
- 20:01Speaker 1: It's a question that I it's something I love talking
- 20:04Speaker 1: about and we've we've touched on it a little bit before,
- 20:06Speaker 1: But what is what.
- 20:08Speaker 4: Do you want your legacy to be?
- 20:11Speaker 1: Like? What when people look back on you? What is
- 20:14Speaker 1: the thing that is the most important for you?
- 20:17Speaker 2: The work that I'm doing with my charity and hopefully
- 20:21Speaker 2: the work I haven't done yet. I think that there's
- 20:24Speaker 2: a lot more to come. We're we're starting to try
- 20:28Speaker 2: to work with the surrounding communities. And there's an amazing,
- 20:33Speaker 2: enormous community right next to where our sanctuary is and
- 20:36Speaker 2: we've just started engaging with them, and there's a lot
- 20:40Speaker 2: that I'm hoping to be able to do with them
- 20:42Speaker 2: for them, and and I'm i Yeah, we have lots
- 20:46Speaker 2: of hopes and dreams there that we're working towards. We
- 20:50Speaker 2: have a fundraiser at the end of June in Las
- 20:53Speaker 2: Vegas that I'm doing during.
- 20:55Speaker 4: Can you please invite me to that, like.
- 21:00Speaker 3: My celebrity like bounties in the tournament.
- 21:02Speaker 4: For sure, be amazing.
- 21:05Speaker 3: All right, actually you do it, I will send it.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Do please start.
- 21:10Speaker 2: We are just starting to, like we just put tickets
- 21:13Speaker 2: on sale and I'm just starting to ask people to
- 21:16Speaker 2: come and be like celebrity bounties and be a part
- 21:19Speaker 2: of it. And We've got some really cool things that
- 21:21Speaker 2: are starting to swirl around it and suppress that will
- 21:25Speaker 2: come and I'm excited. And so that's been my focus
- 21:28Speaker 2: right now. So once we do well with that, then
- 21:31Speaker 2: we have money to do the next chapter of like
- 21:35Speaker 2: what we're doing out here with the sanctuary and the
- 21:37Speaker 2: community and the programs and so yeah, I mean, I
- 21:40Speaker 2: think I know that I want my legacy to be
- 21:46Speaker 2: about the work that I'm doing, the giving back and
- 21:49Speaker 2: the things that I'm trying to leave behind on the
- 21:53Speaker 2: planet to make it a better place for people.
- 21:55Speaker 3: And animals and environment.
- 21:58Speaker 2: So the more I can do that, the more I
- 22:02Speaker 2: can build that legacy to leave behind a better planet
- 22:05Speaker 2: than I had coming into.
- 22:08Speaker 3: You know, that's that's amazing, that's amazing.
- 22:12Speaker 4: I love that, Shannon.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Thank you so much for sitting with me today and
- 22:16Speaker 1: sharing everything that's happening for you right now.
- 22:20Speaker 4: Could not happen to a better person.
- 22:22Speaker 1: I'm just absolutely, I'm so happy for you. I'm so
- 22:27Speaker 1: happy that we finally got to like meet and do this.
- 22:31Speaker 4: I'll see you in June.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Do not forget to send you an invite and all
- 22:35Speaker 1: the information that you can.
- 22:37Speaker 4: I'd love to be there. Sharna doesn't play poker, but
- 22:42Speaker 4: all teacher who learn.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Teacher like, it's going to be such a fun time.
- 22:47Speaker 2: I would love to have you both out there as
- 22:49Speaker 2: my guy.
- 22:50Speaker 4: Amazing. For sure.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Her birthday is in June, so there's no better way
- 22:54Speaker 1: to celebrate.
- 22:55Speaker 4: A birthday than doing that. What day is it the
- 22:57Speaker 4: twenty first?
- 22:58Speaker 1: And then our three year old his birthday is the
- 23:00Speaker 1: twenty eighth, Well that's.
- 23:02Speaker 3: The day of the event, the twenty eight Sunday, the
- 23:04Speaker 3: twenty eighth.
- 23:04Speaker 1: There you go, and that's his birthday. Well we'll bring
- 23:06Speaker 1: him out to Vegas with us. Yay, thank you, thank you, Shanon.
- 23:10Speaker 1: It's so nice to finally meet you.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Yes, it's nice to finally meet you, and I'll see
