- 0:00Speaker 1: I'm being Christine in the morning here on 106.7 Light
- 0:02Speaker 1: FM on this Friday, September 11th. If the news today
- 0:05Speaker 1: is too much, you're in the right place. We will
- 0:07Speaker 1: keep the talk light, the music rolling. We will give
- 0:10Speaker 1: you the headlines coming up in a little bit and
- 0:12Speaker 1: we'll do our moments of silence later on.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 0:15Speaker 1: But hopefully we can be a little bit of a distraction.
- 0:18Speaker 1: If you need to take a break from the news
- 0:20Speaker 1: and we can get back to what we usually do
- 0:22Speaker 1: and Just talk about like, we're like a Seinfeld episode.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Yes.
- 0:25Speaker 1: A show about nothing. We just pick random topics that
- 0:28Speaker 1: we like and we roll with it.
- 0:30Speaker 2: We can make a whole show out of an order
- 0:32Speaker 2: at Stop and Shop.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Yes.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Yes.
- 0:34Speaker 1: And now we're talking 90s, you said?
- 0:37Speaker 2: Yeah, because just before we talked about candy corn and
- 0:40Speaker 2: how some of us have, we love it, we hate it,
- 0:42Speaker 2: but we have like a real nostalgic feeling around it.
- 0:45Speaker 2: So everything 90s is new again. I kind of love
- 0:49Speaker 2: that the 90s is really hot because I like the 90s.
- 0:51Speaker 1: You remember how like the 80s came back about 15
- 0:55Speaker 1: years ago?
- 0:56Speaker 2: And the 80s stayed.
- 0:57Speaker 1: And they stayed for a while.
- 0:58Speaker 2: For a long time.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Actually, yeah, probably in the year 2000. I remember 80s
- 1:02Speaker 1: clubs exploding.
- 1:03Speaker 2: But like it's still, still. But now finally.
- 1:05Speaker 1: But now the 90s is becoming the new 80s.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Yeah. 90s are starting to sneak in there and we
- 1:10Speaker 2: are looking for nostalgia. So if you want to have
- 1:12Speaker 2: a good 90s fall. This is what the experts are
- 1:16Speaker 2: saying you need to do. First of all, you need
- 1:18Speaker 2: to carve your own spooky pumpkins. They said, forget about
- 1:22Speaker 2: all the white and tan and fancy pants pumpkins that
- 1:25Speaker 2: you see on Pinterest.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Do it the way we used to do it.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Go old school, go to a farm stand, get yourself
- 1:31Speaker 2: a pumpkin and carve a spooky face in it. And
- 1:34Speaker 2: then you can toast the pumpkin seeds.
- 1:35Speaker 1: I love that. Yeah. By the way, is it too
- 1:37Speaker 1: early to put pumpkins on the front stoop or are
- 1:41Speaker 1: they going to be.
- 1:41Speaker 2: All I would say it's not too early, but do
- 1:46Speaker 2: you plan on some squirrels stopping by? Just my experience.
- 1:49Speaker 1: You're right about that. They'll find those babies and put
- 1:51Speaker 1: a hole in there.
- 1:52Speaker 2: They'll be like, oh, thank you. You can put out
- 1:54Speaker 2: a bowl of candy corn, like we said, very 90s,
- 1:57Speaker 2: love it, hate it. It's 90s. Put your phone down,
- 2:00Speaker 2: pick up your favorite magazines. Do we have them? I'm
- 2:04Speaker 2: sorry to sound rude, but I miss magazines.
- 2:06Speaker 1: There are a lot of magazines that just gave up.
- 2:08Speaker 2: I know. Okay. My sister-in-law, Barbara, does bring by People magazine,
- 2:12Speaker 2: so I know People's around. Rolling Stone, Better Homes and Gardens.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Right.
- 2:16Speaker 2: So you can get some ideas from there.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Things to keep you busy in the bathroom, right?
- 2:20Speaker 2: Is that what they're for?
- 2:21Speaker 1: Well, usually, I've said this before, I used to grab
- 2:23Speaker 1: a shampoo bottle if I had nothing to read.
- 2:25Speaker 2: You just need something.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Just need something to read.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Some type of distraction. Uh-huh. Okay, I love this. You
- 2:30Speaker 2: can wear your flannels over your baby tees. Yes.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Is that your favorite look?
- 2:35Speaker 2: I loved that look so much with a pair of
- 2:38Speaker 2: Doc Martens.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Doc Martens. That was like 92, maybe 93. Just loved it.
- 2:42Speaker 2: So yay to flannel. And head to the mall instead
- 2:45Speaker 2: of shopping online. Like, it feels fun to go to
- 2:49Speaker 2: the mall. You go to someplace like Bath and Body
- 2:50Speaker 2: Works and they're doing all the, like, the fall scents.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:54Speaker 2: That is just a good time. You can even hit
- 2:57Speaker 2: up a food court while you're there. Go old school.
- 2:59Speaker 2: And watch all your favorite fall movies when they're on.
- 3:03Speaker 2: They're streaming now. You can get some popcorn, order a pizza,
- 3:07Speaker 2: settle back, have a full-on 90s-style watch party.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Yeah. You know what? Give us a text at 44363.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I feel like we've got to keep the 90s-like things
- 3:16Speaker 1: rolling here because you brought up so many great things.
- 3:18Speaker 1: You know, get some Z Cavaricis maybe. I want to
- 3:21Speaker 1: keep adding to how we get more 90s. Okay.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I'd leave those behind. Okay. I would go more grungy 90s,
- 3:27Speaker 2: but it's your call.
- 3:28Speaker 1: What about my mullet? Should I bring my mullet back
- 3:31Speaker 1: from 1991?
- 3:32Speaker 2: Maybe for your Halloween costume.
- 3:33Speaker 1: My starter jacket. 80s was members only. 90s was starter jacket.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Oh, was it?
- 3:38Speaker 1: Yeah. All right. I want to hear from you. And
- 3:41Speaker 1: coming up, Mariah Carey. She had several hits in the 90s.
- 3:45Speaker 1: We'll play one of hers next.
