- 0:00Hello there. I'm Tyler Griffin and this is
- 0:03Scripture Study Insights by Scripture Central.
- 0:06Today Second E Fight 26 through 30.
- 0:09And I want to begin today with a little question and analogy.
- 0:14Have you ever had the experience of preparing to teach a lesson
- 0:19or preparing to give a talk? And you sit down and you pour
- 0:24over the scriptures, You pour over general conference talks.
- 0:27You, you search and you dig and you you're studying like crazy.
- 0:33And there's this moment where it it's as if heaven has opened the
- 0:38windows and poured down light and knowledge and power.
- 0:42And you feel it and you get so excited and you think, wow, this
- 0:47is amazing and and you just can't wait to get into that
- 0:51classroom or that that family home evening or that saccharine
- 0:56meeting talk setting, whatever it may be.
- 0:59And you go in on fire ready to to help people experience this
- 1:05amazing thing that you just got through experiencing.
- 1:09And then you, you present that lesson or you give that talk and
- 1:13you get to that part where it's the big grand reveal and you
- 1:18notice that it falls kind of flat, that people aren't sitting
- 1:22there having this beautiful, revelatory experience like you
- 1:26did, and you're shocked and you're wondering what went
- 1:30wrong. How did that happen?
- 1:32Because it was such a beautiful experience for me.
- 1:34Why didn't it replicate for them?
- 1:38If you've ever experienced that, there are a variety of reasons
- 1:41why that could happen. There's not just one.
- 1:44But here's one thing to consider.
- 1:48There's a difference between the process of learning and the
- 1:56products of learning. In other words, you go through
- 2:04this long process of studying, searching, digging, praying,
- 2:10pleading. And in that process you discover
- 2:16some things and you come away with some products that
- 2:22represent that learning process that you went through.
- 2:26And then you go in to a setting like a sacred meeting or a
- 2:29classroom or into a family setting, and you start
- 2:33displaying those products of your learning.
- 2:37And people may not be as excited about those products as you are
- 2:40because they didn't pay the same price that you paid in order to
- 2:46get them. It wouldn't be terribly
- 2:49dissimilar to when people come back from a trip and they are so
- 2:54excited about the location that they visited and they want to
- 2:58show you all the pictures and give you all the rundown.
- 3:02And you're nodding your head and you're smiling and it's exciting
- 3:05to watch their excitement, but you just don't feel the same
- 3:09connection to these locations as the person does because they
- 3:14went through the process of visiting that location.
- 3:17They can see it better in its context, in their mind's eye,
- 3:22and it it's more exciting to them.
- 3:25So for today's scripture study insight, what I wanted to to
- 3:32focus on is don't be afraid of working through the long process
- 3:40of discovering principles and doctrines and truths and
- 3:49swimming through these pages in order to find these eternal
- 3:53truths. It would be kind of like the
- 3:56analogy of a swimming pool and a diving board.
- 3:59Sometimes, if we're not careful, we will teach in such a way that
- 4:04the scriptures and the words of our living prophets are seen as
- 4:08a diving board, a jumping off point where we'll quote our
- 4:14favorite verse or give our favorite paragraph on a screen
- 4:19from a general conference talk, which then launches us into a
- 4:23long discussion on a topic or a gospel principle, Which is
- 4:30great. But the problem is, is then
- 4:33we're swimming around in the pool of the group's perspective,
- 4:39the group's opinions, and the group's stories and anecdotes.
- 4:45What if we reverse that and spent more time treating the
- 4:49scriptures and the words of living prophets like the pool to
- 4:54swim around in so that we can help students learn the process
- 5:01of discovering truths in the scripture page?
- 5:04And yes, it's sometimes difficult.
- 5:07Sometimes they're going to feel like they dove in over their
- 5:10head and they don't understand. It's OK as long as we're with
- 5:14them to walk them through that process and help them discover
- 5:19some of those beautiful products of learning that are available.
- 5:24And by the way, these scriptures are they are bottomless.
- 5:30You will never get to the bottom of this pool.
- 5:34There are always going to be more truths to be discovered
- 5:39through the process of studying them.
- 5:42So with that, let's jump off the diving board of this this
- 5:47concept and dive into the scriptures and see what we can
- 5:52discover. So chapter 26.
- 5:56Remember, this is a continuation of chapter 25, which is Nephi
- 6:00giving his commentary on some of those Isaiah passages that he
- 6:04read to us or recorded on the plates from chapters 12 through
- 6:0924. And keep in mind he also is
- 6:14going to give a little bit of an intro in chapter 26 because he's
- 6:17going to jump back into Isaiah in chapter 27.
- 6:21He will he will quote Isaiah 29. And incidentally, second, Nephi
- 6:2727 has more changes than any other Isaiah chapter in the Book
- 6:33of Mormon. If you compare the Book of
- 6:36Mormon version with the biblical Isaiah version.
- 6:41So if you put Isaiah 29 side by side with second Ephah 27,
- 6:45you're going to find significant additions and modifications.
- 6:50And it's beautiful because it's all focused on those changes,
- 6:54are all focused on making very clear the Book of Mormon.
- 6:58It's coming forth its power and its instrumentality in the hands
- 7:03of the Lord in doing his work in the latter days.
- 7:06So in chapter 26 in verse one through 10, this is Nephi giving
- 7:13his prophetic vision as he looks down the quarter of time as a
- 7:17seer, having read the words of the seer Isaiah.
- 7:22It causes Nephi to become more prophetic.
- 7:26It causes Nephi to shift into a more looking to the future and
- 7:31prophesying things that are going to happen, And in verses
- 7:35one through 10 these are not pleasant things that Nephi see.
- 7:39He's seen the rejection of Jesus Christ by his own posterity, by
- 7:45his own people, and it's painful to watch.
- 7:48In fact, look at verse 70, the pain and the anguish of my soul
- 7:55for the loss of the slain of my people.
- 7:58For I, Nephi, have seen it, and it will nigh consumeth me before
- 8:02the presence of the Lord. But I must cry unto my God, Thy
- 8:07ways are just one of those attributes of God his justice,
- 8:12And he gives a qualifier here in verse 8.
- 8:16But behold, the righteous that hearken unto the words of the
- 8:21prophets, and destroy them not, but look forward unto Christ
- 8:25with steadfastness for the signs which are given at the very end
- 8:29of verse eight. It says they are they which
- 8:32shall not perish. There's a simple qualifier here.
- 8:38If we'll just listen to the words of the prophets, if we
- 8:42won't assume that we know better than them.
- 8:46There's a reason why God calls prophets and speaks to them.
- 8:50And it it's it's not our job to figure out what's right and
- 8:56what's wrong with what they say. There's a beautiful principle
- 8:59here of hearkening to the prophets and figuring out how to
- 9:04adopt the words of the prophets before we seek to adapt the
- 9:09words of the prophets. And then after finishing this,
- 9:12he gives us in verse 12 this beautiful conclusion.
- 9:17And as I speak concerning the convincing of the Jews that
- 9:21Jesus is the very Christ, it must, must needs be that the
- 9:25Gentiles be convinced also that Jesus is the Christ, the eternal
- 9:30God. So verse 13 says, Speaking of
- 9:33Jesus Christ, that he manifested himself unto all those who
- 9:38believe in him by the power of the Holy Ghost.
- 9:46And if I didn't say, if you believe in him, then he'll
- 9:48appear to you, He'll manifest himself unto you in the flesh.
- 9:51He didn't say that. He said He'll manifest himself
- 9:54unto notice the percentage unto all those who believe in him.
- 10:02And how will he do the manifesting?
- 10:04By the power of the Holy Ghost. I love how President Nelson has
- 10:09has asked us to expect miracles. This is so repeated, this
- 10:19concept of believing in Christ, following the words, hearkening
- 10:24to the words of His prophets, repenting of our sins.
- 10:28If we'll do those things, he will manifest himself unto us by
- 10:31the power of the Holy Ghost. We will be guided.
- 10:34It may not be the exact way you anticipated or guiding you in
- 10:38the direction you anticipated, but the promise is sure.
- 10:42God is a God of truth. He cannot lie.
- 10:46And He has given us this assurance in multiple ways and
- 10:50in multiple places, from multiple prophets over multiple
- 10:55generations of time. It is true.
- 10:58It happens, and it will have continue to happen.
- 11:01And then I love the second-half of verse 13.
- 11:04Which parts of the world does it apply to?
- 11:06Yeah, unto every nation, kindred, tongue, and people
- 11:13working mighty miracles, signs and wonders among the children
- 11:16of men according to their faith. Now we live in a world.
- 11:20We live in a society that breeds and encourages and fosters this,
- 11:26this culture of doubt and unbelief.
- 11:30So you're you're going to face plenty of opposition if when you
- 11:35embark on on this journey of covenantal loyalty to God and
- 11:41seeking to live a life of faith and repentance and trusting God
- 11:46and hearkening to his prophets. And and he talks about it in
- 11:49verse 15. After my seed, and the seed of
- 11:51my brother and shell have dwindled in unbelief, and shall
- 11:56have been smitten by the Gentiles, yeah, after the Lord
- 11:59God shall have camped against them roundabout, and shall have
- 12:01laid siege against them with a mount and raised forts.
- 12:05He goes on all of this because they've dwindled in unbelief,
- 12:09they've forgotten. And then he shifts gears into
- 12:15yet the words of the righteous shall be written, and the
- 12:19prayers of the faithful shall be heard.
- 12:22And how are they going to be heard?
- 12:24Think of the Book of Mormon verse 16.
- 12:27For those who shall be destroyed shall speak unto them out of the
- 12:31ground, and their speech shall be low out of the dust, and
- 12:36their voice shall be as one that has a familiar spirit.
- 12:40Picture the words of God, the words of the Nephites and the
- 12:46Lamanites who have fallen, coming out of the ground from
- 12:50those golden plates and hissing forth their speech low, out of
- 12:55the dust, and they bring words of life.
- 13:00Such a beautiful analogy looking at this Book of Mormon and how
- 13:05it's brought to light and how it spreads and multiplies and how
- 13:11it brings us to an understanding of our our utter dependence upon
- 13:17Jesus Christ. Now we come to our day.
- 13:22For the rest of the the these chapters, he's speaking largely
- 13:26of the latter days, Nephi being a prophetic seer and giving
- 13:32these these future visions that he's had.
- 13:36Verse 20 The Gentiles are lifted up in the pride of their eyes,
- 13:40and they've stumbled because of the greatness of their stumbling
- 13:43block. They've build up many churches.
- 13:46They put down the power in the miracles of God.
- 13:49They preach up unto themselves their own wisdom and their own
- 13:52learning that they may get, gain, and grind upon the faces
- 13:58of the poor. Then Nephi gives us one of the
- 14:01most beautiful sections of Scripture to describe this
- 14:05attribute of God called no respecter of persons.
- 14:11So rather than me doing this for you, rather than me sharing some
- 14:16products of learning, let me encourage you to go through this
- 14:22process of digging out these principles for yourself in
- 14:28second Eph I, chapter 26, starting in verse 23 down
- 14:33through 28 in the in the print version of the scriptures.
- 14:37It's just one column here. Pay close attention and study
- 14:41this carefully. What does the Lord say about who
- 14:47he's offering salvation to? And look for keywords like I'll
- 14:53I'll give you one example. Verse 24.
- 14:56He doeth not anything, save it be for the benefit of the world.
- 15:02So he's not isolating one group. He's talking about everybody
- 15:05here. For he loveth the world, even
- 15:10that he layeth down his own life, that he that that he may
- 15:15draw all men unto him. Wherefore he come on commandeth
- 15:21none that they shall not partake of his salvation.
- 15:26You're you're going to paint a picture here if you read Nephi's
- 15:30words all the way down through verse 28 of an all inclusive,
- 15:35universally loving God who is doing everything he possibly can
- 15:41short of taking away agency to bless and heal and lift and
- 15:48ultimately save all of Heavenly Father's children.
- 15:53But he won't force them. He won't drag anyone into heaven
- 15:58and force them to to obey or force them to be comfortable in
- 16:04the presence of God. So it's a beautiful process you
- 16:08can work through discovering these products of of this Christ
- 16:12like attribute or this godly attribute of He is not a
- 16:16respecter of persons. He's not picking favorites based
- 16:21on ethnicity, based on language, culture, country of origin,
- 16:27based on gender, based on any worldly dividing line that we
- 16:32have set up. He loves everybody and he will
- 16:36deny none that seek to come unto him.
- 16:39That's a beautiful power, powerful promise.
- 16:42So one thing for you to look for as you dive in to the the
- 16:49swimming pool, if you will, of chapter 27 and swim around and
- 16:54try to discover some some beautiful things in in these
- 16:58verses, pay attention to two very similar and yet very
- 17:05distinctly different things. In this chapter Nephi is going
- 17:11to quote Isaiah speaking about the book.
- 17:17So you get verse 7. Behold, the book shall be sealed
- 17:23and in the book shall be a revelation from God from the
- 17:27beginning of the world to the ending thereof.
- 17:31So there's this book that Isaiah is talking about that has all
- 17:37things revealed. And look at verse six.
- 17:41It shall come to pass that the Lord God shall bring forth unto
- 17:44you the words of a book, and they shall be the words of them
- 17:48which have slumbered. So you have two distinct
- 17:54elements here. You have the book, but then you
- 18:02have the words of the book. So if you look at it this way,
- 18:07you have a physical representation of the the golden
- 18:11plates right here. This represents the book.
- 18:15This is what was found by Joseph Smith under the direction of the
- 18:20Angel Moroni and brought forth out of the ground the book.
- 18:26But the book is very different from what you now have in front
- 18:32of you. Either in a physical book of of
- 18:34paper or on a smart device on a screen you have the words of the
- 18:40book. Now if you go through, if you if
- 18:44you like to mark your scriptures, you could simply
- 18:47mark every time you get the book and the words of the book and
- 18:49see the distinguishing features and how God is speaking about
- 18:54both of them. So for instance, verse 8, the
- 19:00bottom of verse eight it says, Wherefore the book shall be kept
- 19:04from them. The them is those who are living
- 19:07in wickedness and abomination in the latter days.
- 19:10And then in verse 9 But the book shall be delivered unto a man,
- 19:15and he shall deliver the words of the book, which are the words
- 19:19of them the slumber, and he shall deliver them unto another.
- 19:22So Joseph Smith is able to take some plates.
- 19:26This man, the book is delivered to him.
- 19:29He's able to take some words off of the plates and deliver them
- 19:32to another who then takes them. This is Martin Harris's story,
- 19:37who then takes them to Charles Anthem and Samuel Latham
- 19:42Mitchell. And these learned people are
- 19:46able to to see the the words of the book.
- 19:50And you now follow this through in all the way up to verse 15.
- 19:57But behold, it shall come to pass that the Lord God shall say
- 19:59unto him to whom he shall deliver the book.
- 20:03That's Joseph Smith. Because the book, the plates
- 20:07were never delivered to the learned, They were never given
- 20:10to the experts in ancient languages of his day.
- 20:14They were given to a farm boy who had three years of frontier
- 20:20style education. And it says.
- 20:24Take these words which are not sealed, and deliver them to
- 20:27another, that he may show them unto the learned saying, read
- 20:31this, I pray thee, And the learned shall say, bring hit her
- 20:35the book, and I will read them, bring the whole book, the
- 20:39plates. But why will they do that?
- 20:42Because of the glory of the world, and to get gain, and not
- 20:46for the glory of God. And so the man will say, well, I
- 20:49cannot bring the book, for it is sealed.
- 20:51There's there's a whole portion of the book that is sealed that
- 20:56we can't open, we can't read. So then the learned will say, I
- 21:02cannot read it. Wherefore it shall come to pass
- 21:06that the Lord God will deliver again the book and the words
- 21:12thereof to him that is not learned.
- 21:16That's Joseph Smith. And the man that is not learned
- 21:19shall say I am not learned. This is such a beautiful story,
- 21:24showing what happened between Joseph and Martin and Charles
- 21:28Anthon and others. And yet some of you might be
- 21:33sitting here thinking, this is all fine and good, but what
- 21:37about us? What about me?
- 21:39Why should I care that these events happened almost 200 years
- 21:44ago? What difference does it make
- 21:46today? I think there's a beautiful
- 21:49principle as you're swimming around in the words of this part
- 21:56of the the pool. To use that analogy, if you come
- 22:00up for for air on the side of the pool for a moment and
- 22:04contemplate the fact that the same thing applies today, often
- 22:11if we're not careful, we will feel inadequate.
- 22:15We will approach the scriptures, especially in Isaiah, passage
- 22:18like this one and say I'm not learned, I can't read, I'm not
- 22:23an expert. I don't have a PhD in in ancient
- 22:27languages or ancient ancient cultures or biblical studies.
- 22:32Brothers and sisters, I love this principle that the Lord
- 22:35teaches Joseph Smith after he says I'm not learning, You want
- 22:41me to take this book and bring forth the words I can't do.
- 22:46I'm not learning. I'm not smart enough.
- 22:49I'm not capable of this. And here's what the Lord says to
- 22:52him. Verse 20.
- 22:55Then shall the Lord God say unto him, The learned shall not read
- 23:00them, for they have rejected them, and I am able to do mine
- 23:06own work. Wherefore thou shalt read the
- 23:09words which I shall give unto thee.
- 23:14It sure looks like Joseph is being told I don't need you to
- 23:18be an expert in foreign languages from the past.
- 23:23I need you to be humble and to be receptive to the words that I
- 23:28am going to give to you. So today in in our modern time,
- 23:35what a beautiful thing it is to become as learned as you can,
- 23:40but not focus on so much on what I know, but rely much more on
- 23:48what God has to reveal to me. So that when I open up my
- 23:52scriptures, it becomes this beautiful opportunity to say to
- 23:57Heavenly Father, I am not learned regardless of how much
- 24:01you may or may not know, regardless of how many degrees
- 24:04you may or may not have in whatever topics or subject
- 24:08areas. But to be able to constantly
- 24:10acknowledge that I don't know very much in comparison to what
- 24:16God has to reveal to me. And he says I am able to do my
- 24:20own work and then notice verse 21 touch not the things that are
- 24:24sealed. So speaking to Joseph Smith
- 24:27through Isaiah, don't don't break the seal on the plates,
- 24:31for I will bring them forth in mine own due time.
- 24:36Are you noticing this is not the work of Joseph Smith?
- 24:41This is the work of the Lord God of heaven and earth, Jehovah
- 24:46Jesus Christ. He's saying, I will.
- 24:48I will have those that seal broken, and I will bring that
- 24:52forth according to my own time. But it's not in your day,
- 24:56Joseph. And then he says, For I will
- 24:58show unto the children of men that I am able to do mine own
- 25:04work. If you like marking your
- 25:07scriptures, you could mark verse 20 and 21, that repeat phrase I
- 25:13am able to do mine own work. I think that's the Savior's way
- 25:18of reminding us I know what I'm doing.
- 25:22And I picked you, Joseph, an unlearned farm boy in upstate
- 25:28New York, to bring forth the words of the book for a reason.
- 25:36Nobody will be able to claim that this is is done by by the
- 25:41power of man and his wisdom. He he tells you that in verse
- 25:4623. For behold, I am God, and I am a
- 25:50God of miracles, and I will show unto the world that I am the
- 25:53same yesterday, today, and forever, another beautiful
- 25:56attribute of God. And I work not among the
- 25:59children of men, save it be according to their faith.
- 26:04This, this beautiful process that Joseph went through to
- 26:08bring forth the miracle of the Book of Mormon from the book
- 26:14that came out of the ground. It is a marvelous work and
- 26:19wonder. And then he also gives you this
- 26:22beautiful passage in verse 7 and 8:00 and 9:00, where in the
- 26:26latter days in our time there will be many people teaching
- 26:30doctrines of no consequences. You can do whatever you want.
- 26:35You do, you just live life to its fullest with no, no
- 26:40reference to God. And so they they'll say, E drink
- 26:44can be merry. For tomorrow we die, and it
- 26:46shall be well with us, because people will emphasize God's
- 26:50love, but they'll ignore or completely deemphasize God's
- 26:57perfect justice, his perfect judgment, his perfect attributes
- 27:04that give him this ability to be God.
- 27:09Verse eight. There will be some who say,
- 27:12well, it's not a God of no consequences, but it's low
- 27:15consequences. So eat, drink, and be merry, and
- 27:18you'll get beaten with a few stripes, but in the end you'll
- 27:20all be saved. It's all good.
- 27:22So it's this idea that encourages people to still go
- 27:25and do whatever they want to do rather than to repent and to ask
- 27:30God, what would thou have me do? How would thou have me live my
- 27:34life today rather than living my life for me and saying, I'm sure
- 27:40glad God's going to forgive me, Which creates this feeling of
- 27:43prependence, if you will, and make up this word prependence,
- 27:48this idea of I can go and do my will and I'm just going to trust
- 27:54that God's going to let me enjoy the the experiences that I want
- 27:58to have. And then he'll he'll just maybe
- 28:02beat me with a few stripes, but in the end I'll be saved, he
- 28:04says in verse nine. Yeah, and there shall be many
- 28:06which shall teach after this man are false and vain and foolish
- 28:11doctrines, and shall be puffed up in their hearts.
- 28:14If you read all of the scriptures, if you listen to our
- 28:18living prophets, Sears and revelators, they never, ever
- 28:21encourage us to go and just do whatever we want to do and just
- 28:27live it up. They always encourage us,
- 28:30encourage us to have faith in Christ and to repent of our sins
- 28:36and to strive to become more like Jesus Christ in our daily
- 28:39actions. It's beautiful pattern that just
- 28:44comes up over and over again. And then he gives us this
- 28:48indication of seeing what the devil is going to do in the
- 28:52latter days in verse 20. For behold it that day shall he
- 28:55rage in the hearts of the children of men, and stir them
- 28:58up to anger against that which is good.
- 29:01As we get closer to the second coming of the Lord, don't be
- 29:06shocked when you see people getting angrier and angrier and
- 29:10worked up more in in in Rage Against the words that are
- 29:16taught by the prophets and from the scriptures and verse 21 says
- 29:21and others will he pacify. So while it works to to stir
- 29:27some people up into rage, it may not work for everybody.
- 29:30So the devil will work up other people into this pacification
- 29:35and he will lull them away into carnal security and they will
- 29:39say all is well in Zion. Yeah, Zion prospereth, all is
- 29:42well and thus the devil cheateth their souls and leadeth them
- 29:46away carefully down to hell. So he does the same thing with
- 29:49us. He gives us these, these
- 29:53spiritual pacifiers, things that we can put great energy and
- 29:58effort and yet we receive nothing in return from investing
- 30:05in those pacifying activities or endeavors.
- 30:10And so a question might be, as you swim around in this part of
- 30:14the pool is what are some of the pacifiers that maybe are taking
- 30:20some of my time, my talent, my money, my devotion, and yet
- 30:27they're not going to give me any nutrients there.
- 30:32There's no milk coming from those pacifiers that's that's
- 30:36going to feed my soul, spiritually speaking.
- 30:39What are those security blankets?
- 30:41What are the lullabies that are being sung that cause us to to
- 30:46fall asleep? For some, the rage works, For
- 30:50others the lulling and the Pacifying works, and then
- 30:53others, verse 22, He flattereth away and tell us them there is
- 30:58no hell and he saith unto them, I am no devil, for there is
- 31:02none. And so he's got a variety of
- 31:05these techniques that Nephi's pointing out.
- 31:07This is not an exhaustive list. This is just a handful of of
- 31:12tools that the devil is using against us.
- 31:15But if we can be aware of them and we can identify them, then
- 31:20we canmore powerfully ask God to help us to recognize and reject
- 31:26them in our life. And then he finishes off chapter
- 31:3028 with a whole list of woes in in starting in verse 24 through
- 31:3532. And it would be worth finding
- 31:37those what what is, what is giving, what elements are being
- 31:41given this cursed state. Woe unto him that saith, what or
- 31:48that do with what? And you can swim around in that
- 31:51part of the pool, and and find those products as well.
- 31:55It's beautiful. So I just have to say that I
- 31:58love the way he ends this chapter.
- 32:00After pronouncing all of these woes, he ends with this.
- 32:05For notwithstanding I shall lengthen out my arm unto them
- 32:09from day-to-day. They will deny me.
- 32:13Nevertheless I will be merciful unto them, saith the Lord God,
- 32:20if they will repent and come unto me.
- 32:23For my arm is lengthened out all the day long, saith the Lord God
- 32:26of hosts. I love that because it's not
- 32:30rocket science. Every one of us today can do
- 32:35that. Better we can turn to God in
- 32:38greater humility and with a spirit of faith in Christ, and
- 32:45plead with God to forgive us of our sins and to acknowledge
- 32:50them, to confess them to him and to say, I want to be better,
- 32:55please forgive me and his promises.
- 32:58I will be merciful unto them. He didn't say I might be or I'm
- 33:05capable of being or I ought to be.
- 33:08He says I will be. That's a pretty sure foundation
- 33:12to build on that, that you have assurance that if you go through
- 33:17through this process, he will respond.
- 33:20Now as you read chapter 30 to finish this off, this is the
- 33:27kind of the conclusion of the role of revelation, the Book of
- 33:32Mormon and how God is carrying forth his work.
- 33:36So as you sworn around in this part of the pool, I would just
- 33:39point out one verse. 5 And the gospel of Jesus Christ shall be
- 33:44declared among them, Wherefore they shall be restored unto the
- 33:48knowledge of their fathers, and also to the knowledge of Jesus
- 33:51Christ which was had among their fathers.
- 33:55This is speaking to whom it was back in verse 4.
- 33:58The remnant of our seed will know concerning us how that we
- 34:02came out from Jerusalem. So here's Nephi who, at the end
- 34:06of this incredible prophetic seership vision that he's had,
- 34:13he saw his people struggle. He sees us in the latter days
- 34:16and the Gentiles in the Book of Mormon coming forth.
- 34:19But then he gives this clarification of his people
- 34:23being brought back to the gospel of Jesus Christ to acknowledge
- 34:28in the latter days. There's hope for all of us to
- 34:32come unto Christ and to be perfected in him.
- 34:36May the Lord bless you as you find those diving boards, those
- 34:41jumping off points to get into and swim around in the words of
- 34:48prophets, both ancient as well as modern, as we seek to move
- 34:53forward in greater faith than ever before and help him in this
- 34:56effort of building up his Kingdom is my hope and my
- 34:59prayer. In the name of Jesus Christ,
- 35:01Amen. Know that you're loved.
