- 1:36days ago.
- 1:37All right, guys, without any further ado, let's
- 1:39go ahead and kick this show off.
- 1:42Ladies and gentlemen, this is Inspirations for Your
- 1:45Life, in case you guys didn't know if
- 1:47you're on the right channel.
- 1:48When direction changes, because truth gets revealed.
- 1:53Ladies and gentlemen, this is series five, show
- 1:5618, episode number two.
- 1:57In this episode, ladies and gentlemen, of Inspirations
- 1:59for Your Life, with myself, John Seymour.
- 2:01John Seymour, formerly serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist,
- 2:06video producer, podcast host, coast, yes, keynote speaker,
- 2:15graduate student, passionate lifelong learner.
- 2:18And now ladies and gentlemen, I'm so grateful
- 2:20and proud to say that I am a
- 2:22published author.
- 2:22And I'm exploring how direction changes when truth
- 2:25is revealed through awareness, listening and higher guidance
- 2:30rather than force or constant action.
- 2:33I know a lot of people that want
- 2:35to rock the boat, they want to force
- 2:36things.
- 2:37And the reason they do this is because
- 2:38they panic.
- 2:39They think that if they push things that
- 2:41they can just do whatever they want, but
- 2:43that's not really the truth, guys.
- 2:45So we have to live intentional lives.
- 2:48I think that's a very, I think that's
- 2:50a very important point.
- 2:52And when you understand that, that's when you
- 2:54start to really embrace life.
- 2:55So ladies and gentlemen, this is about realizing
- 2:58that direction is not always created through effort.
- 3:01A lot of people think, oh, I got
- 3:02to spend hours working harder.
- 3:04No, that's actually just going to turn you
- 3:06down and basically burn you out.
- 3:08But revealed through clarity is what happens.
- 3:11So let's get right into our first point,
- 3:13all right, everyone.
- 3:13That is number one.
- 3:16Number one is direction begins with listening.
- 3:19That's what we were given by our creator,
- 3:20Two Wonderful Ears.
- 3:22Direction begins with listening.
- 3:24Awareness comes before the action settles in, okay?
- 3:28Awareness is that subtleness that we a lot
- 3:31of times miss that can keep us on
- 3:34our path or take us off our path.
- 3:38And so these are important things to realize.
- 3:40Number two, guys, silence carries clarity.
- 3:44Answers exist without noise.
- 3:46I think that's important to understand.
- 3:48Noise is basically another word for saying the
- 3:51word distraction, distraction, distractions, okay?
- 3:56That's a very, very important thing to know.
- 3:59So ladies and gentlemen, number three, guidance is
- 4:01rarely loud.
- 4:02Yeah, it's not somebody with a big bull
- 4:04or mega horn saying, you know, insight is
- 4:06subtle.
- 4:07And it actually is.
- 4:08Insight is very subtle.
- 4:10So we need to be aware of that
- 4:12and not expect it to be something like
- 4:14a grand gesture or something broadcasted like at
- 4:17Yankee Stadium.
- 4:18Number four, awareness requires a certain stillness.
- 4:22Noise blocks understanding.
- 4:25I think when we understand that, I'm going
- 4:26to have another one of these almonds.
- 4:27They're supposed to be very good for you.
- 4:30And while I'm eating these, I just was
- 4:31curious, health benefits of almonds.
- 4:36Let's see what they are.
- 4:38So almonds are highly nutritious, providing a dense
- 4:40source of vitamin E, magnesium, healthy, monosaturated fats,
- 4:45and a fiber which promotes heart health, wow,
- 4:49weight management, and improved skin.
- 4:52Pretty cool.
- 4:53A regular consumption helps lower your bad LDL,
- 4:57cholesterol, stabilizing blood sugar levels, reducing inflammation, and
- 5:01improving your gut health.
- 5:03Okay, I guess we should all eat more
- 5:06almonds.
- 5:07Number five, internal signals matter most.
- 5:13External noise distorts the truth.
- 5:14That's the truth.
- 5:16Number six, truth interrupts distraction.
- 5:20Confusion breaks under awareness.
- 5:24When we become aware of even the most
- 5:26subtle things, magic happens.
- 5:29Number seven, guys, clarity appears in reflection.
- 5:34Insight comes in pauses.
- 5:37And number eight, timing is everything.
- 5:40Understanding how it unfolds gradually, I think, is
- 5:43the real secret of life.
- 5:44We can't expect everything to just pop at
- 5:46us like overnight or in seconds.
- 5:50I think that's why a lot of people
- 5:52miss success because they're waiting for something to
- 5:54be now, when it's not about now, it's
- 5:58about a gradual knowing.
- 6:00Number nine, guys, not all answers are immediate.
- 6:04I'm sorry, guys, you don't press a button
- 6:07and get an answer like in a computer.
- 6:09Patience is required.
- 6:12These almonds are very tasty.
- 6:14I haven't had them in a while, but
- 6:16I'm definitely going to eat almonds more.
- 6:17They're really good for you.
- 6:19All right, number 10, direction requires trust.
- 6:22Certainty is not required, guys.
- 6:24Certainty is not required to move forward.
- 6:28Number 11, resistance will block your insight.
- 6:32You have resistance, you're going to miss the
- 6:35awareness.
- 6:35You're going to miss the potential that could
- 6:37help you gain success.
- 6:40Ego interferes with clarity.
- 6:42If we have an ego, it's best to
- 6:44leave that ego at the door.
- 6:46I'm just being honest.
- 6:47If we don't leave the ego at the
- 6:48door, a lot is going to happen.
- 6:50And we're going to be trying to be,
- 6:53well, who's better?
- 6:55And the two sides are going to fight
- 6:57with each other, and that's not good.
- 6:58Number 12, guys.
- 6:59Number 12 is listening changes outcomes and attention
- 7:04shifts the results.
- 7:08So these are important things to realize.
- 7:11Listening changes the outcome because we actually become
- 7:14aware and clear of what's expected and what
- 7:17somebody's saying or doing.
- 7:19Attention to that, which is an awareness, will
- 7:22shift the result.
- 7:23Not immediately, but it will change our perception
- 7:28and our position on something pretty quickly.
- 7:32Pretty quickly, all right?
- 7:35But not overnight, let me say that.
- 7:38So number 13, intuition does strengthen decisions and
- 7:41internal signals guide better than the external ones.
- 7:46It's something about our internal gut that allows
- 7:50us to be grounded, all right?
- 7:52Maybe you've taken your shoes off before.
- 7:54Maybe you've gone outside.
- 7:56And when you've gone outside, maybe you wanted
- 7:58to actually put your, let's say, feet on
- 8:02the ground, but your bare feet on the
- 8:03ground.
- 8:04And that's a pretty interesting thing when that
- 8:06actually happens, to put your feet on the
- 8:10ground, all right?
- 8:11That's a very important thing.
- 8:13It feels really good.
- 8:15Number 14, guys, patience.
- 8:18Yeah, patience reveals the truth.
- 8:24Rushing hides understanding.
- 8:26People that rush are doing it intentionally because
- 8:29they don't want you to see the truth.
- 8:31People that are trying to just like, you
- 8:33know, sly by you so quickly, they don't
- 8:35want you to know the truth.
- 8:36They don't want you to wake up to
- 8:38it.
- 8:38So they're hoping that they can basically slither
- 8:41by you and trick or connive you so
- 8:45they can get what they want out of
- 8:46you before you will realize what they're doing.
- 8:49Number 15, guys, guidance challenges logic.
- 8:53It does.
- 8:54Insight is not linear.
- 8:56As much as we think it is, it's
- 8:58not.
- 8:59Guidance can be all over the path.
- 9:03And again, I think a lot of people
- 9:05get frustrated because they're like, well, where the
- 9:07heck are we going?
- 9:08What are we doing now?
- 9:09What is the universe trying to tell me?
- 9:12I think a lot of times we have
- 9:15to embrace that quiet stillness within us.
- 9:18And then we get this knowingness that something's
- 9:21going to change.
- 9:23We get an insight.
- 9:24We get a thought.
- 9:25We get an idea.
- 9:27And then we need to respond to react
- 9:29to those thoughts.
- 9:30They're inspired thoughts.
- 9:32Number 16, guys, noise hides distraction.
- 9:37Okay.
- 9:38And what I mean by that is if
- 9:41it hides the distraction, it's causing something to
- 9:48change.
- 9:49So when I say noise hides distraction, it's
- 9:53still causing our brain to loop.
- 9:55But it's not allowing us to be aware
- 9:58of what's going on.
- 9:59So it just happens.
- 10:01So distraction reduces awareness within us.
- 10:04And that's a problem.
- 10:06Number 17, guys, stillness improves clarity.
- 10:10Every time.
- 10:13Quietness sharpens the perception.
- 10:15When we are quiet, when we are still,
- 10:17when we are in the moment, ladies and
- 10:20gentlemen, it's like we get this thought, we
- 10:26get this potential that things are possible.
- 10:31We start to realize that maybe what we're
- 10:35doing is wrong.
- 10:37Or maybe we're slightly off track or slightly
- 10:41off balance.
- 10:43But just being quiet for a few moments
- 10:46can allow us to settle the chattering monkeys
- 10:49in our head and allow us to just
- 10:52be.
- 10:53When's the last time that you were able
- 10:55to just be?
- 10:59Probably never.
- 11:00Probably a long time ago.
- 11:02But this is a key to us being
- 11:04healthy.
- 11:05Now, I don't mean healthy in the sense
- 11:07of, you know, good heart and things like
- 11:10this.
- 11:10I mean healthy in the sense of our
- 11:11whole body connecting together, right?
- 11:15Of course, it can reduce stress.
- 11:17But what I'm really talking about is that
- 11:19our body is staying grounded.
- 11:21Number 18, guys, realignment requires humility.
- 11:26Correction begins with openness.
- 11:31When you approach someone and they're doing something
- 11:34wrong and you give them feedback based on
- 11:36their behavior, not on them as a person,
- 11:40say, you know, Joe, you're doing a great
- 11:42job.
- 11:43And we just need to change some of
- 11:46the behaviors that are going on.
- 11:48I think you're great.
- 11:49And when we attract it or we position
- 11:51it like that, people become less defensive.
- 11:54Now, of course, some people may be still
- 11:55going to be defensive, but we need to
- 11:56appreciate it that way, okay?
- 12:00Appreciate it that way.
- 12:06And I know that seems hard for a
- 12:09lot of people, but it's the truth.
- 12:12Number 19, guys, awareness will always shift our
- 12:15behavior.
- 12:19If you're outside and suddenly you're focusing on
- 12:23the breeze or maybe you're focusing on the
- 12:28waterfall.
- 12:29Or maybe you're paying attention to just the
- 12:35rustling of the leaves as you're walking.
- 12:38This does something to us.
- 12:41It causes a shift in our perception and
- 12:44it changes our action that we're going to
- 12:46take next.
- 12:47Now, it might not seem like this is
- 12:49going to go anywhere.
- 12:51But when we shift one of our thoughts,
- 12:56our mindset, it's like we recalibrate the inputs
- 13:02going into our body.
- 13:03And I was talking about this before, which
- 13:05is combinational logic.
- 13:07When we give a circuit two inputs, if
- 13:10we give them the same inputs, just for
- 13:13argument's sake, let's say I give it a
- 13:14one and a zero.
- 13:15And this circuit always will output, it's an
- 13:18AND circuit that will always output a zero.
- 13:21If I give it a one to one,
- 13:23it'll always output a one.
- 13:27If we change the inputs, so it's one
- 13:31and zero.
- 13:32And now I get a zero output.
- 13:33And I think those are important things to
- 13:35understand is that one little change, just like
- 13:39a bit in the computer can change the
- 13:40entire outcome.
- 13:41So can the awareness of our mind and
- 13:44body change our trajectory towards success.
- 13:48Number 20, guys, insight arrives unexpectedly.
- 13:52Clarity is not scheduled.
- 13:54I'm sorry, it is not scheduled.
- 13:55It happens by us becoming grounded in who
- 14:00we are and what we are doing every
- 14:03single day of our life.
- 14:08That's important, guys.
- 14:11Every single day, I didn't say one day,
- 14:12I said every single day.
- 14:15If you knew right now that you could
- 14:17change an awareness and by doing that, that
- 14:22could affect the level of your success.
- 14:25I wanna ask you right now, would you
- 14:27do it?
- 14:28Now here's the kicker.
- 14:30You could do it, but it's not gonna
- 14:33be easy because you know why?
- 14:36It's gonna be uncomfortable, not painful, but it's
- 14:39going to be uncomfortable.
- 14:44And when something's uncomfortable, we pause, we hesitate.
- 14:54We pause, we hesitate.
- 14:58And we do this because we're scared.
- 15:02We don't know what's around that corner.
- 15:07We don't know if we're gonna like it.
- 15:08We don't know if we're gonna hate it.
- 15:09We don't know if we can do it.
- 15:13But one thing we know is it's gonna
- 15:14happen if we make a change.
- 15:18So that scares some people, people.
- 15:20Number 21, truth appears in patterns.
- 15:28Huh, that's an interesting predicament.
- 15:34Repetitions reveal meaning.
- 15:39Repetitions reveal meaning.
- 15:43I bet you never thought about it that
- 15:44way.
- 15:45When something keeps popping up in your life,
- 15:47whether it's 911 or 1111, these synchronicities are
- 15:53not random.
- 15:55They are connected to something going to change
- 15:57in your life.
- 15:59Number 22, guys, misalignment becomes obvious.
- 16:04Imbalance will surface when the misalignment is obvious.
- 16:10And maybe you're saying to me, John, well,
- 16:12I don't know about that.
- 16:14Maybe you're saying that, but maybe you're also
- 16:16saying, I don't know.
- 16:19And the reason I'm saying you don't know
- 16:20is you're scared about what could happen and
- 16:23what may not happen, right?
- 16:29That's a very important thing, okay?
- 16:36A very, very important thing.
- 16:37It's something that I believe a lot of
- 16:39people shy away from.
- 16:42And they shy away from it because they
- 16:45don't believe that they have the skills, the
- 16:48traits, and the attributes they need to succeed.
- 16:51The truth of the matter is everyone has
- 16:53these attributes.
- 16:54It's just, do we want to activate them
- 16:57right now?
- 16:58Again, it's not going to be comfortable.
- 17:00It's going to become uncomfortable.
- 17:03So I've said we got to get comfortable
- 17:04being uncomfortable.
- 17:05Number 23, guys, correction improves path adjustment as
- 17:11it creates progress for us.
- 17:14So the correction improves the path and the
- 17:17adjustment creates the progress.
- 17:20But sometimes that adjustment sends people into a
- 17:24world where like, oh, I can't deal with
- 17:25this.
- 17:28It's not about dealing with this.
- 17:29It's about dealing with one thing at a
- 17:31time.
- 17:34Number 24, guys, understanding builds slowly.
- 17:40Clarity compounds over time.
- 17:44Clarity compounds over time.
- 17:49But I think that's something that many people
- 17:53don't understand or appreciate, that clarity becomes better
- 17:57over time.
- 17:58Not that it's going to happen overnight.
- 17:59Not that it's going to happen in five
- 18:00minutes.
- 18:03We gain understanding about something today.
- 18:06Tomorrow, we might get more insights.
- 18:10I'll give you a perfect example.
- 18:12I was recently given a gift.
- 18:14Many of you guys know I just became
- 18:15an author.
- 18:17And one of our good family friends actually
- 18:19gave me a pen to start signing my
- 18:23books as I was thinking about that.
- 18:24And when I first got this at lunch
- 18:27the other day, I was like, how do
- 18:29I use this thing, right?
- 18:30Because I wasn't sure.
- 18:31So it came with cartridges and stuff like
- 18:32that.
- 18:33And then there was other parts.
- 18:34And then I realized there were two parts
- 18:37to the pen later on in the day.
- 18:39I'm like, oh, wait, there's a way to
- 18:41use this pen with ink.
- 18:43That's like through a well.
- 18:45And then there's a way to use this
- 18:46pen with cartridges.
- 18:47But that connection didn't become real for me
- 18:54until a few hours later, I went back.
- 18:55I'm like, oh, wait a minute.
- 18:57Now I see how this works.
- 18:59This is meant to be for this.
- 19:01And this is meant to be for that.
- 19:03It seemed weird in the beginning.
- 19:04But then I suddenly made that epiphany.
- 19:06I made that connection.
- 19:08Number 25, guys, awareness opens opportunities.
- 19:13Options will expand when we become aware.
- 19:18When we become aware, our opportunities open.
- 19:26Our mind starts to pay attention to the
- 19:30task we're doing and saying, are these tasks
- 19:33creating value in my life?
- 19:36Yes or no?
- 19:36If they're not, we stop doing them.
- 19:40Number 26, guys, direction becomes clearer.
- 19:46When that happens, guys, confusion reduces.
- 19:50So when direction becomes clear, our confusion just
- 19:52kind of minimalizes things.
- 19:54And that's good.
- 19:56But too many people expect the confusion to
- 19:59disappear overnight.
- 20:00And they don't even know.
- 20:01I'll give you a perfect example.
- 20:02First time I got my calculator.
- 20:04Okay, fancy little engineering calculator.
- 20:07And although it's a very straightforward calculator, there's
- 20:10a lot of functions in it.
- 20:11Just turning the thing off is not simple.
- 20:13You have to hit shift, and you have
- 20:15to hit the word off.
- 20:16So as I started to grow more with
- 20:18the calculator and use it, even things like
- 20:19how to use the mod feature and how
- 20:21to get into different numeric function menus, it's
- 20:24not like a typical calculator.
- 20:25And it has like, I think it has,
- 20:27if I turn it on, it has, if
- 20:29I go to menu, it has A through
- 20:36B.
- 20:37Okay, and there's even a spot on here
- 20:39called conversion.
- 20:40If I go on the conversion menu, there's
- 20:44a conversion utility located in the run menu
- 20:47through option six and one.
- 20:49So if I go back to the menu,
- 20:52so run the menu through option, basically run
- 20:55them action through F6 and one.
- 21:02So I'll go back here just to show
- 21:04you how this works.
- 21:05But this little thing like this, you wouldn't
- 21:08expect this to work like this.
- 21:09So I'm in the menu and it says,
- 21:11the conversion menu is located in the run
- 21:13menu through the option key F6, F1.
- 21:16So I remember how this works.
- 21:19I will go to the run menu.
- 21:20I will get out of your first menu.
- 21:22I'll go all the way back to the
- 21:24top, the run matrix menu.
- 21:26I will go to the F6 menu, okay?
- 21:31And then I can go to one, which
- 21:35is pretty cool because now that I know
- 21:36how that works, I can easily execute different
- 21:39functions.
- 21:41But the first time I picked up this
- 21:42calculator, I'm like, oh wow, there's so many
- 21:44options.
- 21:44There's so many ways to do things.
- 21:48But the key is to realize you don't
- 21:50need to learn everything in five minutes.
- 21:52You don't even need to learn everything in
- 21:53a day or a week or a month.
- 21:55Learn it in your time.
- 21:57And suddenly I'm like, oh, wait a minute.
- 22:00Starting these features, starting to grow on me.
- 22:03Number 27, listening changes outcome.
- 22:12The attention shapes the results.
- 22:14So listening changes the outcome and our attention
- 22:18to it shapes the results.
- 22:21Number 28, guys, guidance shapes decisions.
- 22:27Insight informs choice.
- 22:29Insight informs choice.
- 22:34Trust improves clarity.
- 22:38Resistance blocks understanding.
- 22:41Resistance blocks understanding.
- 22:44When we are resisting something, our mind is
- 22:49closed.
- 22:51We are not open to any inputs.
- 22:53Think of it like this.
- 22:54Many of you guys remember writing to either
- 22:57a floppy disk or maybe some of you
- 22:59remember writing to a cassette tape.
- 23:03I know this was many years ago.
- 23:05If the read-write tab on the floppy
- 23:08disk was, let's say, there's a little tab
- 23:13there, right?
- 23:13And if that read-write notch, okay, on
- 23:19the disk is there, okay, then it can
- 23:28not only read, but it can also erase
- 23:30the disk.
- 23:31But when you put the tab over it,
- 23:36it now sees it and it's able to
- 23:38write to it, not just read it.
- 23:40Same thing would happen with your cassette tapes.
- 23:43There would be one notch on the left,
- 23:45one notch on the right.
- 23:46The left on the left would be on
- 23:47the first side.
- 23:48Notch on the right would be for the
- 23:49other side.
- 23:50And so there'd be a little tab you
- 23:52could break off.
- 23:53When the tab is broken off, you couldn't
- 23:55write to the tape again.
- 23:56Simple fix, take a piece of tape and
- 23:58you're good to go and you're able to
- 24:00record to that tape.
- 24:03Number 30, guys, direction becomes destiny.
- 24:10Awareness will always define the outcome, but too
- 24:15many people get upset because the outcome is
- 24:17not what they expect right away.
- 24:21Okay, it's not what they expect right away.
- 24:24And there is a reason for that.
- 24:26It is because people think it's just gonna
- 24:30happen like that.
- 24:31They don't appreciate that life has a gradual
- 24:35progression in it, right?
- 24:37And ladies and gentlemen, when you finally listen
- 24:39clearly, what you need to do becomes obvious.
- 24:44It's no longer difficult anymore.
- 24:46It becomes so simple, as easy as you
- 24:49breathe.
- 24:50And that, ladies and gentlemen, is where real
- 24:53direction begins.
- 24:56But my question for you, ladies and gentlemen,
- 24:57is if you are not getting to that
- 25:01point, if you're not able to start, let's
- 25:04look at a few things.
- 25:05One, are you resisting?
- 25:08Do you have an open mind?
- 25:11Or is it the fact that if your
- 25:13mind is open, but yet you're not paying
- 25:16attention, not being aware of things, you can
- 25:18have an open mind, but if you don't
- 25:20choose to be aware of something, it's not
- 25:24gonna sink in.
- 25:25So these are important things to understand.
- 25:30When we connect a realization to something you
- 25:33already know, let's say you're great at playing
- 25:35basketball, and the person I'm talking to plays
- 25:38basketball really well, but they don't know anything
- 25:41about, let's say, chemistry.
- 25:44I can compare basketball to chemistry by saying,
- 25:47look, in basketball, you have something called defense,
- 25:52right?
- 25:53Well, in chemistry, you have a defense as
- 25:56well.
- 25:57You have to make sure your lab is
- 25:58set up in a way that you are
- 26:00defensive so that you don't get hurt.
- 26:03You see how I compared that little analogy,
- 26:05right?
- 26:07There's also something in chemistry called focus.
- 26:11You have to focus on what chemicals and
- 26:14what order you are performing them in so
- 26:17you don't have an explosion.
- 26:20In basketball, you need to focus on who
- 26:22has the ball, who the ball is getting
- 26:24passed to, who's open, who's not.
- 26:27A little different perspective, but it's still focus.
- 26:31Yeah.
- 26:33So these are very important topics, and again,
- 26:38they're subtle, right?
- 26:39So this whole master topic for the week,
- 26:41ladies and gentlemen, in case you did not
- 26:42get it, I'm gonna tell you right now.
- 26:44The topic is when direction changes because truth
- 26:47gets revealed, okay?
- 26:49But when guidance comes from a higher signal,
- 26:53that's when we tend to listen, right?
- 26:57When we believe it's coming from our creator,
- 26:59when we believe it's coming from somebody we
- 27:01trust or we know, that's when we actually
- 27:04decide to do something.
- 27:05Why is it that we don't listen before
- 27:07that?
- 27:08I think the reason we don't listen before
- 27:10that is very simple.
- 27:11I think it's because we don't have enough
- 27:14trust in ourself, and that trust in ourself
- 27:17can make a huge, huge difference.
- 27:21Ladies and gentlemen, I am John Seymour Lai
