- 0:06Speaker 1: I had a good week. How was your week busy? Well,
- 0:11Speaker 1: you're in a real chitty chatty kind of mood today,
- 0:13Speaker 1: aren't we towards This is going to be a really
- 0:15Speaker 1: short podcast.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Yeah, it was busy, and you'll find out soon about
- 0:23Speaker 2: the time that, well, you organized a bunch of stuff
- 0:26Speaker 2: and I didn't. I didn't communicate with you correctly.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Actually, do you know what this is? Why I've had
- 0:33Speaker 1: a great week. One I got to drive a whole
- 0:38Speaker 1: I got to drive a few cars that were on
- 0:40Speaker 1: my bucket list. I've driven them before, but this time
- 0:44Speaker 1: quite fast. That was an outright The other one was
- 0:47Speaker 1: a bmw M three competition, which, oh man, it's such
- 0:52Speaker 1: a refined car. Anyway, we'll get we'll get into it later.
- 0:54Speaker 1: But I also got to do the one thing that
- 0:57Speaker 1: was at the top of my bucket list, and that
- 1:01Speaker 1: was to take Trevor Long into a creepy basement and
- 1:04Speaker 1: put a blindfold on it, a.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Pink blindfold as well, pink blindfold.
- 1:10Speaker 1: He loved it.
- 1:12Speaker 2: So, yeah, hearing about this.
- 1:14Speaker 1: So Trevor and I found ourselves in a studio alone together.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Thanks for that, Pavelai.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Actually, I've got to be honest. I did this on purpose,
- 1:24Speaker 2: because the last time we were together, I could feel
- 1:27Speaker 2: a real tension between you guys, and I just thought,
- 1:31Speaker 2: you know, the best way to let them nut it out,
- 1:34Speaker 2: so to speak, is to leave them in a room together,
- 1:38Speaker 2: one blindfolded with a sort of frillly pink blindfold and
- 1:41Speaker 2: the other with I don't even know what device he
- 1:43Speaker 2: had for you, But how did that go down?
- 1:48Speaker 1: That's interesting. I learned a lot about Trevor that day.
- 1:51Speaker 1: You know. I was looking at Trevor sitting across the
- 1:53Speaker 1: studio and I was thinking, you remind me of someone,
- 1:57Speaker 1: and I couldn't put my finger on it, and then
- 1:59Speaker 1: I realized he looks like a courtroom sketch of a
- 2:04Speaker 1: man who's done some sort of sexual crime. Anyway, So yes,
- 2:13Speaker 1: I took Trevor de Actually, should we play this now?
- 2:16Speaker 2: Yeah, let's just do that, because then it won't be
- 2:18Speaker 2: as well. I assume it won't be as weird.
- 2:20Speaker 1: I'll roll the tape. I don't think Paul's showing up.
- 2:24Speaker 3: I mean I got here on time, I haven't checked,
- 2:26Speaker 3: I haven't reconfirmed. Shut up, trev He's definitely not coming.
- 2:30Speaker 3: There is that a hoodie triple extra large?
- 2:32Speaker 1: Yep?
- 2:33Speaker 3: Is there anything's gonna fit me? May you don't get
- 2:38Speaker 3: this body by gun on the gym?
- 2:39Speaker 1: Certainly not.
- 2:41Speaker 3: This is cadre induced.
- 2:45Speaker 1: You're actually slowly turning into a Chico roll.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Oh it's better than turning into the gobbleddock?
- 2:51Speaker 1: What's that? Is that a nineteen sixties reference? Is that
- 2:54Speaker 1: from hr stuff? What is that?
- 2:57Speaker 3: Don't pretend to be younger than you are.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I'm younger than you.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Well, I understand that because I'm feeling much more people
- 3:04Speaker 3: people listening out with the gobbled dookies. Listen, I've got
- 3:08Speaker 3: a great present from Amanda and Jonesy.
- 3:11Speaker 1: She doesn't even know who you are.
- 3:15Speaker 4: They sent me a smash cake. She doesn't know who
- 3:19Speaker 4: you are, mate, she knows he's exactly who. Excuse me
- 3:22Speaker 4: for a second, what are you doing? Just calling Paul?
- 3:27Speaker 1: Hih Hi, Amanda? It's how are you well? How are
- 3:31Speaker 1: you going?
- 3:31Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 3:31Speaker 1: Good?
- 3:31Speaker 5: Hey?
- 3:32Speaker 1: Just a quick question. Have you ever heard of someone
- 3:34Speaker 1: called Trevor Long?
- 3:36Speaker 6: Say it again?
- 3:37Speaker 1: Yeah, Trevor Long. He's uh, I don't know, but apparently
- 3:43Speaker 1: he recommends vacuum cleaners on the Today Show or something, so.
- 3:47Speaker 2: It's sort a police thing.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Listen.
- 3:51Speaker 4: I won't stand for this, Amanda.
- 3:55Speaker 2: He's not that guy that pretends to go to those
- 3:57Speaker 2: tech expos and just plays with the toys like a
- 3:59Speaker 2: five year old.
- 4:00Speaker 1: He's going to sex bo and he's playing with.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Got the wrong expo, did he?
- 4:07Speaker 1: I think so? More than once. The smash cake means
- 4:09Speaker 1: nothing unbelievable. Thank you for joining us on that. Hey,
- 4:14Speaker 1: by the way, before I let you go, I'm going
- 4:16Speaker 1: to try and butter you up and see if you're
- 4:17Speaker 1: coming our show one day. I'd love to do.
- 4:20Speaker 3: I have to talk about tech like Trevor does.
- 4:22Speaker 1: No, definitely not, please don't. But we can talk cars
- 4:24Speaker 1: because she drove in beyond two thousand. That's exactly right
- 4:27Speaker 1: when I was a little kid, and Trevor was probably
- 4:30Speaker 1: about forty two at the time. Yes, so you were
- 4:34Speaker 1: recommending amazing cars. I remember there was. You were showing
- 4:38Speaker 1: us stuff like sat NAV back in the day, noise canceling. Look,
- 4:42Speaker 1: tell me all that stuff.
- 4:44Speaker 6: I don't remember.
- 4:45Speaker 1: I'm happy to chat about it.
- 4:46Speaker 6: But as my husband knows, the car stories went in
- 4:48Speaker 6: one ear and out the other.
- 4:50Speaker 2: I didn't even recognize my own car in a crowded
- 4:52Speaker 2: car park.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Well, listen, it's good to know that we've cleared up.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Nobody knows who Trevor Long.
- 4:56Speaker 7: Is and I'd love to come on your podcast, so
- 4:59Speaker 7: I'll see you before two.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Thank you very much. Good to good to chat with
- 5:02Speaker 1: topping back on Jones and Amanda very soon. No one
- 5:04Speaker 1: knows who you are, that's sure.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Sure see your fellas.
- 5:09Speaker 8: Bye.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Do you know what's sad about that?
- 5:12Speaker 3: I bought your present?
- 5:13Speaker 1: You bought me a present? I bought you merch What I.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Bought you an FtM umbrella and hat buddy Paul Marreck
- 5:20Speaker 3: doesn't bring you car experts stuff, does he?
- 5:22Speaker 4: Oh?
- 5:22Speaker 1: Look at that it's metal and shiny. Wow, cheap shit,
- 5:26Speaker 1: this changes every and an umbrella.
- 5:28Speaker 4: And you've just feeding can stitch me up with Amanda
- 5:30Speaker 4: Keller's that hits hard?
- 5:32Speaker 1: Okay, you know what? That hits real hard. I've got
- 5:35Speaker 1: a present for you too. Really yeah, I think it's
- 5:37Speaker 1: time where we become what we've always destined to be. Sexy. Wow,
- 5:44Speaker 1: this is for you, This is for you, show the cameras.
- 5:49Speaker 5: I did think it was something else, to be honest,
- 5:52Speaker 5: when I saw it come out of your pocket and
- 5:54Speaker 5: it looked pink and lazy, I thought, mate, what have
- 5:56Speaker 5: you got?
- 5:56Speaker 1: It is there's more to come. Are you ready, I'm
- 5:59Speaker 1: good to go. Okay, take your pants off. I've got
- 6:02Speaker 1: three different supercars for you, and you're gonna just feel them,
- 6:06Speaker 1: touch them, okay, and just find that. You've got to
- 6:09Speaker 1: work out the touching. Okay, are we ready? Let's go
- 6:13Speaker 1: with the first one. All right, Okay, here we go, touch, touch, touch,
- 6:17Speaker 1: We're going closer. Feel free to ask any questions.
- 6:20Speaker 2: There you go.
- 6:21Speaker 1: All right, trev is touching the car. Jesus, story of
- 6:25Speaker 1: your life.
- 6:26Speaker 3: That feels like the front.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Okay, that's the bonnet.
- 6:29Speaker 1: If we can avoid okay, you want me to avoid that,
- 6:32Speaker 1: you can avoid the badge.
- 6:34Speaker 2: That could be a Gillaway.
- 6:36Speaker 3: All right, Well, it's got strong lines, strong lines. Oh
- 6:41Speaker 3: hang on, that's an.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Out of our age. My god, he got it in one.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Take off the feet.
- 6:47Speaker 2: You got it. Very nice.
- 6:50Speaker 1: We get a chance to it's this bit they gave
- 6:52Speaker 1: it away. Oh yeah, jump on in, jump on in.
- 6:56Speaker 7: Where's the fire up button?
- 6:59Speaker 2: Listen to the smile?
- 7:00Speaker 3: Oh there it is there.
- 7:01Speaker 9: Yes, every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Right, let's go with carn number two. You have me
- 7:25Speaker 1: bring it over?
- 7:26Speaker 5: Who's bringing over?
- 7:26Speaker 1: You've got a bit of a taste of the engine.
- 7:28Speaker 5: I immediately felt Ferrari or push, but then I did.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Have a sense of land beginning.
- 7:33Speaker 5: But at this point I'm feeling Ferrara.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Okay, all right, let's get let's get touching. Bring it over,
- 7:39Speaker 1: bring it over, bring it over.
- 7:42Speaker 5: Oh oh oh jesus, hang on a minute. All right,
- 7:47Speaker 5: the kind of it's very very square. Okay, obviously four
- 7:53Speaker 5: will drive. So let's rule out Porsche because it's too square,
- 7:58Speaker 5: it's too tall to be a Ferrari out and it's
- 8:00Speaker 5: not a Urus, so that.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Rules out everything. I just suggested that down be the
- 8:05Speaker 1: biggest giveaway. Now that you're up the bath. Very square.
- 8:08Speaker 5: That's a range Rover. It must be at SV eight
- 8:10Speaker 5: or something. It's what do they call it. They've got
- 8:13Speaker 5: a name for their sports.
- 8:15Speaker 1: M Is it a range rover?
- 8:18Speaker 2: Yes, it's a range rover, sport with.
- 8:20Speaker 5: The sv whatever the hell it's called SVR SVR that's it.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Yes, take you blindfold off it well and in pearl too.
- 8:28Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Wow. So I remember when this is like the AMG
- 8:33Speaker 1: equivalent of it was.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Actually I remember when they launched this.
- 8:37Speaker 5: They losched it up on the Central coast and we
- 8:38Speaker 5: got to drive it around a private road and that sound,
- 8:43Speaker 5: I'm thinking, that doesn't come from a range road.
- 8:45Speaker 1: What are you talking about. It's incredible, I think to me,
- 8:48Speaker 1: that sounded when you.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Brought it over, I thought it was a Ferrari.
- 8:53Speaker 1: That wasn't a gr That's the greatest thing. I recommended
- 8:56Speaker 1: his car Scoop City up the front, but the back
- 8:58Speaker 1: with the quad exhaust, and it's.
- 9:01Speaker 5: I got to say this, Matt Pearl, I don't mind
- 9:04Speaker 5: at all.
- 9:05Speaker 1: It's nice. I do not mind. Are you in this
- 9:07Speaker 1: with your yeah Emily wagon?
- 9:10Speaker 2: You know, yeah?
- 9:12Speaker 1: All right? I love it? Big ass car, Yeah, big
- 9:14Speaker 1: ass car. You're ready for cart number three? Stand in
- 9:17Speaker 1: the corner, standing the dirty corner where you belong car
- 9:23Speaker 1: number three.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Well, that's very deceptive.
- 9:26Speaker 5: That's very deceptive because when you bring it over, the
- 9:30Speaker 5: rumble sounded nice. But over here look at his air conditioner.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Two steps forward.
- 9:35Speaker 5: So my initial thought again was push, because I had
- 9:38Speaker 5: a nine to eleven a few weeks ago and had
- 9:40Speaker 5: this kind of I don't know, very nice, subtle, we'll
- 9:44Speaker 5: hang on, very pointy, very pointy, but large headlight.
- 9:50Speaker 1: What are you thinking so far?
- 9:51Speaker 6: Matt?
- 9:52Speaker 5: Matt Finish, it's going to be a luxury European.
- 9:56Speaker 1: You're on a good track.
- 9:59Speaker 3: It's not a coupe. It's a bit more. It feels
- 10:02Speaker 3: like it's a sedan.
- 10:03Speaker 1: So it's a sedan.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Oh, nice little lip.
- 10:08Speaker 5: Mercedes.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I'll tell you what. Why don't we go around into
- 10:12Speaker 1: the passenger seat? Yeah, you can have a good listen
- 10:14Speaker 1: on there.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Am I feeling my way around there?
- 10:16Speaker 1: Yes? I wouldn't miss that for the world.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Jesus Christ.
- 10:20Speaker 5: It's very bulbous lights as well, very bulgy.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Is this the driver's about the car?
- 10:28Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 10:29Speaker 5: I've never gott into a cart blindfolded before.
- 10:31Speaker 1: So can I feel in here as well? Yeah? Yeah, yeah,
- 10:33Speaker 1: I feel the interior. What do you think?
- 10:35Speaker 5: Info attainment's up high.
- 10:38Speaker 3: But it's not a Mercedes because they like to blink
- 10:42Speaker 3: things together. It's got hints of BMW and Volkswagen. So
- 10:47Speaker 3: I'm going M three.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Take you blind off, Take your blindfold off? MW definitely
- 10:52Speaker 1: the MW M three competition.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Oh what does that add?
- 10:57Speaker 1: Well, that adds all this, that adds all this fiber,
- 11:00Speaker 1: that adds this.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Oh that's very nice.
- 11:06Speaker 5: It's a nice subtle growl and I reckon there's probably Yeah,
- 11:09Speaker 5: there is an exhaust button.
- 11:11Speaker 1: We love an exhaust.
- 11:12Speaker 5: Any any car that has the little exhaust button is
- 11:15Speaker 5: a car I want to be in.
- 11:19Speaker 1: It's really meaty, isn't it.
- 11:22Speaker 11: It's funny because the range Rover has more kind of
- 11:25Speaker 11: throat to it, you know what I mean, where this
- 11:27Speaker 11: is a little bit more I don't want to say restrained,
- 11:31Speaker 11: but there's a bit more throat to the to the ranging.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Yeah. Ah, well, Paul down he did, but we're best.
- 11:39Speaker 1: He's now so screw you, Paul, Yeah right or dies right, Yeah,
- 11:42Speaker 1: let's go.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Wow. That was so touching, and for you as well.
- 11:48Speaker 2: I'm glad that it was a bit touchy.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Fairly.
- 11:51Speaker 2: I'm glad the feuds finally over. And I'm actually good
- 11:54Speaker 2: on Tred for being a good sport because despite me
- 11:57Speaker 2: saying that I deliberately didn't turn up. I yeah, I'll
- 12:02Speaker 2: say it's your fault, but due to wires crossing, I
- 12:05Speaker 2: didn't turn up, and thankfully trev actually turned up and
- 12:09Speaker 2: took my place normally. I of the gagger is that
- 12:11Speaker 2: he should replace you, but.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Trev no, no, no, shut up, shut up. Car companies
- 12:17Speaker 1: would be jumping like rats from a seeking ship if
- 12:19Speaker 1: Trevor Long got involved in this fault.
- 12:22Speaker 2: But would there be a few uphots we wouldn't be
- 12:24Speaker 2: getting sued. Yeah, people would want to deal with us
- 12:26Speaker 2: in professional life. We'd receive good ratings.
- 12:29Speaker 1: What are you talking about? We're quite a reputable podcast
- 12:33Speaker 1: according to Johnna. Yeah, have you got reach out some
- 12:39Speaker 1: can News? Have you got any more dms from Donna lately?
- 12:42Speaker 2: No? No, she hasn't slid into my dms recently, so
- 12:45Speaker 2: I think I don't know if she's made parole yet
- 12:48Speaker 2: on but yeah, hopefully.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Donna would probably slide into your dms. But like should
- 12:52Speaker 1: put a little video she slides into your dams like parently, family,
- 13:03Speaker 1: it's me parently, it's Donna. Me neck me back. I
- 13:14Speaker 1: think I left some snacks under me rack. Hey Pavely,
- 13:18Speaker 1: I heard you like commodoores hed you like me on
- 13:22Speaker 1: Old Force.
- 13:27Speaker 2: That's good. I like that.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Do you do you want to be king of this mountain?
- 13:35Speaker 2: Hey?
- 13:35Speaker 1: Wei should talk can News because you decided to take
- 13:38Speaker 1: another chicky trip to Sweden, which your family must have
- 13:42Speaker 1: been wrapped about. Actually, the would have been genuinely excited.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I was gonna say I think I went too
- 13:48Speaker 2: uneven praised by that one.
- 13:50Speaker 1: But then this is this is kind of called the
- 13:53Speaker 1: the Ionic five N their arrival to the Kia EB
- 13:57Speaker 1: six G T.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Yes, well, I was sworn to secret. We were driving
- 14:01Speaker 2: prototype versions of the on five in and it's actually
- 14:05Speaker 2: the place is fascinating. It's called Argiplog, and I'm sure
- 14:07Speaker 2: I'm not saying that right, but it's basically a region
- 14:10Speaker 2: in the Arctic Circle within Sweden where there's five or
- 14:15Speaker 2: six different proving grounds and then a stack of tire
- 14:19Speaker 2: and manufacturer sort of shared proving grounds within the area,
- 14:23Speaker 2: and they all set up base there over winter and
- 14:26Speaker 2: they set up tracks over the lakes that are frozen
- 14:28Speaker 2: obviously at the time, and they develop all of the
- 14:31Speaker 2: cars heating systems, fuel systems, traction control systems. You've got
- 14:37Speaker 2: to think that I heard some great stories from the
- 14:40Speaker 2: guys at the Holden proven ground. They used to go
- 14:42Speaker 2: there in like a VA commodore, for example, and they
- 14:46Speaker 2: would put the worst fuel they could find in the
- 14:48Speaker 2: cars and just let them sit outside overnight in like
- 14:51Speaker 2: negative twenty degree temperatures and try and crank them. And
- 14:54Speaker 2: the whole point of it was to make sure that
- 14:56Speaker 2: if a customer wound up in this worst case scenario
- 14:59Speaker 2: that the car would be capable of starting and not
- 15:01Speaker 2: having any issues. So this place is where all of
- 15:04Speaker 2: that kind of testing happens, and Hyundai shares a facility there.
- 15:07Speaker 2: It's called the Mobus Test Facility that's owned by the
- 15:11Speaker 2: Hyundai brand. So we had a chance test IK five
- 15:14Speaker 2: end there and also put to test a system they
- 15:18Speaker 2: have called the Drift Optimizer, and it's basically it allows
- 15:22Speaker 2: you to do drifting in this car and we're doing
- 15:25Speaker 2: it on a frozen lake that when I got out
- 15:27Speaker 2: of the car I couldn't even stand straight on because
- 15:29Speaker 2: it was so slippery. Yet the car is able to
- 15:32Speaker 2: allow you to do these epic drifts, all sort of
- 15:34Speaker 2: fully controlled by the car. It was just absolutely unreal
- 15:38Speaker 2: and it just shows you how much tech has actually
- 15:40Speaker 2: gone into this thing. And yeah, I'm excited for it
- 15:43Speaker 2: to finally be launched.
- 15:44Speaker 1: What can you tell us about the interior because from
- 15:47Speaker 1: what I could sort of pinpoint and I'm not gonna
- 15:51Speaker 1: like it's a weird one with the Ionic five because
- 15:55Speaker 1: I've got a love hate relationship with the interior. It's
- 15:58Speaker 1: kind of cool at first, Glann, but after you spend
- 16:01Speaker 1: some time in it, it becomes not as practical as
- 16:05Speaker 1: you thought. But the EV six, for instance, has the
- 16:07Speaker 1: big seats with the gap and behind them. I'm guessing
- 16:12Speaker 1: this would have the same sort of thing.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a similar setup. They have made some changes
- 16:16Speaker 2: to the interior and we couldn't take photos of the interior,
- 16:19Speaker 2: but basically, the steering wheel is different to other Ionic fives,
- 16:24Speaker 2: so you've got extra buttons on the steering wheel for
- 16:27Speaker 2: all these n modes, and in addition to that you
- 16:30Speaker 2: have different seats as well, so they're really quite supportive.
- 16:33Speaker 2: They hug you in nicely. The car has a big
- 16:36Speaker 2: set of brakes. It's got different design up the front
- 16:38Speaker 2: there with these big air dams that lead air in.
- 16:41Speaker 2: It's got like a little spoiler built onto the back,
- 16:43Speaker 2: and more cooling for the rear motors. Sorry for the
- 16:46Speaker 2: rear motor, but it is. It is a very different car,
- 16:50Speaker 2: and I think the design is going to be significantly
- 16:52Speaker 2: different to the EV six in the sense that the
- 16:54Speaker 2: EV six GT doesn't look so different to the rest
- 16:57Speaker 2: of the EV six range as the Hendonic five will
- 17:00Speaker 2: look totally different. One of the things that I love
- 17:02Speaker 2: about it that they spoke to us about was the
- 17:04Speaker 2: ability to adjust your talk split so within the car
- 17:07Speaker 2: you can actually send all of the talk to the
- 17:09Speaker 2: rear axle or the front axle, or any combination in between,
- 17:13Speaker 2: similar to what you can do in Tesla products. They've
- 17:15Speaker 2: also created fake gear shifts so you can drive it
- 17:19Speaker 2: as a manual car. It's so weird. So you accelerate
- 17:23Speaker 2: and then you pull the lever to go up to
- 17:25Speaker 2: the next gear, and it simulates a sort of gear
- 17:28Speaker 2: shift in a talk bend.
- 17:29Speaker 1: That's amazing, So you'll feel like a typical gear shift, almost.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Like a clutch. Yeah, yeah, right, and you can go
- 17:37Speaker 2: up and down gears like it is a remarkable sort
- 17:40Speaker 2: of setup that they've done, and the whole reason they've
- 17:42Speaker 2: done this is so that they can give a driver
- 17:44Speaker 2: transitioning from an internal combustion end car to one of
- 17:47Speaker 2: these a bit more comfort. And then they even take
- 17:51Speaker 2: it one step further with noise as well. They're going
- 17:52Speaker 2: to make it so you can upload all of your
- 17:54Speaker 2: own noises to the car as it drives. So yeah,
- 17:57Speaker 2: I reckon, it's pretty unreal. We don't know what the
- 17:58Speaker 2: price is yet. I reckon it'll be one hundred grand mark.
- 18:01Speaker 2: It'll probably be as quick if not slightly quicker than
- 18:03Speaker 2: the EB six GT, and Albert Bimm and the sort
- 18:07Speaker 2: of the technical director there, he's sort of quite confident
- 18:10Speaker 2: that this will be able to do to full lapse
- 18:12Speaker 2: of the Nerberg Green without any power degradation, which I
- 18:14Speaker 2: think is pretty surprising to me. So yeah, look, I'm
- 18:17Speaker 2: keen to have a drive of it when it is
- 18:19Speaker 2: not just on ice surface adaptive damping too for the ride,
- 18:23Speaker 2: and obviously our drive was fairly limited in terms of driving.
- 18:26Speaker 2: It was from the test facility through to the lake
- 18:28Speaker 2: test track and on this sort of right in handling
- 18:31Speaker 2: track as well, but on early counts it actually is.
- 18:34Speaker 2: It is a pretty pretty cool thing and looking forward
- 18:37Speaker 2: to having a proper drive.
- 18:38Speaker 1: I'm excited to see what this looks like because I
- 18:40Speaker 1: love I've become a bit of a fan boy of
- 18:42Speaker 1: what end products are all about and what they stand
- 18:45Speaker 1: for lately, and I think Young Day of just an
- 18:47Speaker 1: example of doing this, showing the industry on doing this
- 18:52Speaker 1: right because they've done it well. And I like the
- 18:55Speaker 1: fact that the end products are a different they look
- 18:58Speaker 1: different too, like that. One of my biggest disappointments with
- 19:01Speaker 1: the EV six GT, apart from a few little tweaks
- 19:05Speaker 1: and quirks here and there. It didn't look that much
- 19:08Speaker 1: different to you know, the the EV six. I think
- 19:12Speaker 1: car people would probably obviously be able to tell the difference,
- 19:15Speaker 1: but you know, the end cars are a completely different beast.
- 19:18Speaker 1: I'd like the I've heard whispers there could be screens
- 19:21Speaker 1: on the steering wheel similar to the Mercedes as well.
- 19:24Speaker 1: I like the fact that you can. I love the
- 19:26Speaker 1: fact that you can. You can like customize the noises
- 19:29Speaker 1: like as you're going that. It's just it's bizarre, the
- 19:34Speaker 1: fact that you can customize this. To say, when you
- 19:37Speaker 1: get up to say a hundred, Paul's car would just
- 19:40Speaker 1: start going oh yeahs as in the streams Kenny Rodgers, Babe,
- 19:46Speaker 1: you know this one. You're gonna pull over? You want
- 19:48Speaker 1: to pull over car? Yeah? What do you?
- 19:52Speaker 8: Reckon?
- 19:52Speaker 1: He's pull over?
- 19:54Speaker 6: All right?
- 19:55Speaker 1: Just just just for ships and gigs. Can I call
- 19:57Speaker 1: you Donna? Would you mind? Okay?
- 20:00Speaker 2: Thanks? Triv So I was browsing the internet and came
- 20:07Speaker 2: across the Hummer EV suv because I know they did
- 20:11Speaker 2: like a sort of pick up version, but there is
- 20:13Speaker 2: actually an suv version coming. They reckon They have ninety
- 20:18Speaker 2: thousand Hummer EV reservations about sixty percent of those for
- 20:22Speaker 2: the pickup. Have you seen this thing?
- 20:24Speaker 1: It is incredible. Like once upon a time, I think
- 20:29Speaker 1: I said to you, Americans can't do interior, and that
- 20:35Speaker 1: is that is that's changing big time. That's changed with
- 20:39Speaker 1: the with the Ford Ranger stuff, and it is certainly
- 20:43Speaker 1: changing with this Hummer. It is just incredible.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Yeah. Look, I've said all along that with these things,
- 20:48Speaker 2: Hummers have always been just about being the most ridiculous
- 20:51Speaker 2: vehicle for every ridiculous reason. And this is no exception.
- 20:56Speaker 2: It is just a pointless ev because it's like zero
- 20:59Speaker 2: to a hundred in like under four seconds. The battery
- 21:03Speaker 2: pack is ridiculously enormous and unnecessarily enormous. It weighs a
- 21:10Speaker 2: ridiculous amount as well, like it just has no logic
- 21:14Speaker 2: to it whatsoever. But even the numbers six hundred and
- 21:18Speaker 2: nineteen kilowatts of power and this is will we'll talk
- 21:23Speaker 2: fifteen thousand new meters of talk, I mean, and they're
- 21:27Speaker 2: working on like an even more ridiculous version that's said
- 21:30Speaker 2: to be like seven hundred and fifty kilowats of power
- 21:32Speaker 2: as well.
- 21:33Speaker 1: And the weight in this thing, like if you get
- 21:35Speaker 1: if you get hit by one of these, the survival
- 21:37Speaker 1: rate is zero. There is zero chance you are coming
- 21:41Speaker 1: back from getting hit by Ahama.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Yeah, like it is. It is ridiculous. And I'm just
- 21:45Speaker 2: googling the weight here, so nine thousand pounds, so that
- 21:50Speaker 2: is let me just ten thousand lbs to killograms. It
- 21:54Speaker 2: weighs four and a half tons.
- 21:56Speaker 1: It's just ridiculous.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I just have no words. So yeah, look, I
- 22:04Speaker 2: think there's a chance this may eventually come to Australia.
- 22:07Speaker 2: And that's one of the cool things with evs. They're
- 22:10Speaker 2: just easier to do conversions to right hand drive because
- 22:14Speaker 2: you have less of those components that you do in
- 22:17Speaker 2: internal combustion cars getting in the way of things, and
- 22:19Speaker 2: they have often eat pass set up steerby wire systems.
- 22:23Speaker 2: So yeah, I think it's pretty cool. And yeah, I
- 22:26Speaker 2: just ye, just look at it. It just looks stupid.
- 22:28Speaker 1: It looks amazing. Once upon a time, Arnie was famous
- 22:33Speaker 1: for driving one of these. And also yeah, yeah, there's
- 22:36Speaker 1: also a radio guy in the States called Howard Stern
- 22:39Speaker 1: who had one of the first Hummer stretch limos. Now
- 22:46Speaker 1: every bogan go into it. That is funny, bloody, desperate
- 22:48Speaker 1: and dateless ball in the country has got one of these.
- 22:51Speaker 1: But there's such a cool car.
- 22:53Speaker 2: The battery size two hundred and twelve killer what hours?
- 22:56Speaker 2: That are compared to let's say, my Tesla more Why,
- 23:00Speaker 2: which is sixty sixty ish killer what hours? It's like
- 23:05Speaker 2: almost four times bigger than that. It's just just ridiculous.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Do you know what I also love? I love the
- 23:10Speaker 1: fact that you can take parts off. Yes, it's just
- 23:14Speaker 1: so cool. Sorry, I would much rather just watch this
- 23:19Speaker 1: than Paul's face. I think I think the front light's
- 23:21Speaker 1: up too, like the letters up the front yep. Yeah,
- 23:24Speaker 1: what a beast ah Anyway, So you know what else
- 23:29Speaker 1: is ridiculous?
- 23:31Speaker 2: Would you pay one hundred and forty thousand dollars for
- 23:35Speaker 2: a Corolla?
- 23:36Speaker 1: Does it have the letters gr attached to it?
- 23:39Speaker 2: It does? But would you pay that much? Because that
- 23:43Speaker 2: is what a dealer in the States is trying to charge.
- 23:46Speaker 2: I have this thing called market adjustments in the States,
- 23:49Speaker 2: and it's basically an ability for the dealers to go, hey,
- 23:52Speaker 2: you know what, I know that this is limited, so
- 23:54Speaker 2: I'm going to go ahead and just charge you whatever
- 23:56Speaker 2: you want, you know, whatever I want for it. And
- 23:58Speaker 2: the market adjustment on this has put it up at
- 24:01Speaker 2: just around one hundred thousand US dollars, which converts to
- 24:04Speaker 2: about one hundred and forty thousand Australian dollars. It is
- 24:07Speaker 2: clinically insane. And I know that Toyota here in Australia,
- 24:10Speaker 2: we're trying to avoid that and didn't want to sell
- 24:13Speaker 2: the car to scalpers, but it's already happening. Like you
- 24:15Speaker 2: look at the people that have taken delivery and they're
- 24:17Speaker 2: already sort of straight onto car sales with stupid price
- 24:20Speaker 2: sort of listed on them, which you can't avoid ultimately.
- 24:23Speaker 1: No, I was just about to start looking that up actually,
- 24:25Speaker 1: because yeah, it's I mean, there's no more spots. Very
- 24:28Speaker 1: much like the gi Yaris. They're gone. They're gone before
- 24:33Speaker 1: they've arrived, which pisses me off in a way because
- 24:36Speaker 1: they're not necessarily going to the right people. They're just
- 24:39Speaker 1: going to the people that can you know, chuck what
- 24:42Speaker 1: seventy thousand dollars on a car instantly and no, they'll
- 24:45Speaker 1: probably make at least fifteen on it.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's the thing. It is kind of frustrating
- 24:50Speaker 2: because it locks actual people out from buying these things,
- 24:56Speaker 2: Like there's one list now on car sales for ninety
- 24:59Speaker 2: seven thousand, some five hundred dollars, which is like twenty
- 25:03Speaker 2: grand above asking And you know, I just think, I
- 25:08Speaker 2: just think these people are you know, they're just profiteering,
- 25:10Speaker 2: So you know, good on them, I guess is it
- 25:13Speaker 2: is what it is. But ultimately, at the end of
- 25:15Speaker 2: the day, you're going to have to I don't know,
- 25:18Speaker 2: you just lose brand appeal when this stuff happens, because
- 25:20Speaker 2: if you don't get one, you're not going to come
- 25:22Speaker 2: back for it because there's just no way you're going
- 25:24Speaker 2: to pay a hundred k for it.
- 25:25Speaker 1: I also wonder how long that that's going to stick for,
- 25:28Speaker 1: because you know gr yaris you could get when they
- 25:32Speaker 1: were readvertising that and scalping those off, it was probably
- 25:36Speaker 1: about fifteen grand over the buying price. So now would somebody,
- 25:41Speaker 1: even with say five thousand k's on now, would someone
- 25:43Speaker 1: pay far fifteen grand more than the buying price?
- 25:47Speaker 2: Look, I think some people would because they desperately want one.
- 25:50Speaker 2: But now even this guy I'm looking at it on
- 25:52Speaker 2: car sales. You have to have a registration listed on
- 25:55Speaker 2: car sales, and he's blanked out the regio and you
- 25:58Speaker 2: can't click on it to see the Joe either. So
- 26:01Speaker 2: he's going against cars Ole's rules there, because I think
- 26:04Speaker 2: this type of person probably has cars that are from Toyota,
- 26:08Speaker 2: which is the people they preferenced for this. And it
- 26:11Speaker 2: just says to me that, you know, this perfect person
- 26:13Speaker 2: is just here for profiteering. It's not just someone who's
- 26:15Speaker 2: bought one and had second thoughts about it.
- 26:17Speaker 1: You want to call him up?
- 26:21Speaker 2: What if we were to call and just to ask
- 26:23Speaker 2: why it's so expensive? I'll just be honest. Yeah, I'm
- 26:27Speaker 2: gonna go on yet. Hey, bro, how you doing beautiful?
- 26:32Speaker 1: I'm just looking at your car and I just wanted
- 26:34Speaker 1: to give you a call, so I'll I'll just be quick.
- 26:37Speaker 1: My name's My name's Paul. I do a podcast and
- 26:42Speaker 1: I was talking about how much I love the new
- 26:45Speaker 1: Toyota gr and we were just talking about it and
- 26:49Speaker 1: You're going on to castles and it came up and
- 26:54Speaker 1: we're like, oh wow, So do you do you want
- 26:56Speaker 1: to have a chat on air about this or do
- 26:59Speaker 1: you want to just yeah? I don't moment, Yeah, So
- 27:02Speaker 1: what's your name?
- 27:04Speaker 6: Pavel?
- 27:04Speaker 7: Oh?
- 27:05Speaker 1: Cool, that's me Pavel or Pavelvel. You've taken ownership of
- 27:11Speaker 1: the car. Yes, I have, yeah, right, how do you
- 27:14Speaker 1: How do you find it so far?
- 27:16Speaker 6: Honestly, it's better than I expected. I love it, And
- 27:24Speaker 6: to be honest, for this, from my circumstances, I would
- 27:28Speaker 6: honestly just keep it. But it's honestly, it's one of
- 27:32Speaker 6: the best guys I've driven. I've driven first few cars
- 27:37Speaker 6: from old school J D M down to like Z cars. Yeah,
- 27:41Speaker 6: and it's just a it's a different feel. I've never
- 27:45Speaker 6: never experienced anything like it. To me, to be honest, I.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Got a lot. I got to tell you, I'm surprised
- 27:51Speaker 1: you're selling it. Is it one of those things, I mean,
- 27:54Speaker 1: you seem to be in love with it. Is it
- 27:55Speaker 1: one of those things where you kind of go, well,
- 27:58Speaker 1: I'm into the car, but it's not quite many expectations.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Or is it kind of a situation where you thought
- 28:05Speaker 1: I can probably make a bit of coin if I
- 28:07Speaker 1: chuck it up now, do you know what I mean?
- 28:11Speaker 6: Not really, because it's one of those things where I've
- 28:15Speaker 6: always been into my European cars, and I'm more shifting
- 28:20Speaker 6: towards getting a European like an M three or a
- 28:25Speaker 6: V eight. I love my big block motors. I thought
- 28:28Speaker 6: I would give the little thrill all the chance, and
- 28:32Speaker 6: honestly it's amazing. But for the things I want to
- 28:35Speaker 6: do to the car, I don't want to really ruin it,
- 28:38Speaker 6: if you get what I mean. Yeah, So my plans
- 28:42Speaker 6: were to tune it, do it up at on exhaust wheels,
- 28:48Speaker 6: lawer it. But then at the same time, I don't
- 28:50Speaker 6: want to really accumulate too much money. But it's something.
- 28:54Speaker 6: It's one of those cars where I know if I
- 28:56Speaker 6: still for me to get one again, it will be
- 28:58Speaker 6: really hard because of what I've been hearing around as well.
- 29:04Speaker 6: I was actually specing out to get the Morozzo edition.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Yeah that's the one with the two seats in the rollbar.
- 29:11Speaker 6: That's right, the sixth seats and the roll bar. But
- 29:15Speaker 6: for me to get that, apparently it's like a lottery ticket.
- 29:18Speaker 6: So I went ahead and I wasn't even given a
- 29:22Speaker 6: choice of color or anything like that. It's just you know,
- 29:25Speaker 6: I was second in line and my dealership and they
- 29:30Speaker 6: gave me the same corner. I said, or you know what,
- 29:32Speaker 6: let me give her a go. I've fought from previously
- 29:36Speaker 6: owning a Golfer and like a fifth year other cars
- 29:41Speaker 6: as well. It's up there with the golfer. In my opinion,
- 29:44Speaker 6: what you're you're.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Like, you're selling it for twenty k more, you know
- 29:47Speaker 1: what I mean. It feels first glance. There's a lot
- 29:50Speaker 1: of people listening that will go, oh, that just this
- 29:52Speaker 1: dude's having a money grab, you know. But at the
- 29:54Speaker 1: same time, I get what you're saying.
- 29:55Speaker 6: So yeah, So originally because what I do is like
- 29:58Speaker 6: I because I usually keep them and I store them away.
- 30:02Speaker 6: I don't really want to let go of the croller.
- 30:05Speaker 1: So I just thought if we get as why not
- 30:08Speaker 1: I'm selling a Tesla model. Why if you're interested, I
- 30:15Speaker 1: don't know best tests.
- 30:16Speaker 6: Then I love my I love my guests. A Lean
- 30:19Speaker 6: engines for the moment.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Hi, it's good to chat, good to know where you
- 30:23Speaker 1: are with it, and yeah, best of luck with this
- 30:25Speaker 1: sal Man. You don't mind if we chuck you on
- 30:27Speaker 1: our podcast.
- 30:28Speaker 6: No, I don't mind, man.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Listen, Man, we'll love you and leave you. Thanks for
- 30:32Speaker 1: giving us some insight onto your car, Man, We really
- 30:33Speaker 1: appreciate it, and thanks for coming on the potty bro.
- 30:38Speaker 6: That's all right, man, I mean.
- 30:39Speaker 1: I guess we now naturally will talk about this car.
- 30:42Speaker 1: The twenty twenty three we should do you want to
- 30:45Speaker 1: get into the official car review, Let's do it. That's
- 30:49Speaker 1: not what you say, that's not what you say. Should
- 30:52Speaker 1: we get into the car review? Yes, okay, TV's going
- 30:58Speaker 1: to isolate that and play it back to him.
- 31:00Speaker 2: I knew that was going to happen.
- 31:03Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes, So the twenty twenty three Toyota GR Corolla. Man,
- 31:09Speaker 1: I remember when this popped up and the photos surfaced.
- 31:16Speaker 8: And.
- 31:17Speaker 1: I loved it, and you were like, nah, looks a
- 31:20Speaker 1: bit super cheap auto, you know, with the body kitten stuff,
- 31:25Speaker 1: especially with the three exhausts. But now that you've got
- 31:28Speaker 1: to see it up in the flesh, it's great.
- 31:32Speaker 2: Yes, it looks. It looks significantly better like in the
- 31:35Speaker 2: in the flesh, it's got like it's got pumped arches,
- 31:38Speaker 2: it's got the sort of functional vents on the bonno like,
- 31:42Speaker 2: it's got the big exhaust pipes like it is. It
- 31:45Speaker 2: is a really good looking thing. And like I heard
- 31:47Speaker 2: this the other day and I think this is right.
- 31:50Speaker 2: So it's a one point six letter turbo charged three
- 31:53Speaker 2: letter petrol engine. They was saying the power, Yeah, here
- 31:56Speaker 2: it is. So the kilo figure, according to toy puts
- 31:59Speaker 2: the GR roll on par with the Baghetti Shiron for
- 32:03Speaker 2: killawatt per liter of engine output. That is bloody amazing
- 32:07Speaker 2: because it's two hundred and twenty one killer lots of
- 32:09Speaker 2: power and three hundred and seventy meters of talks damn good.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Yeah, the figures on paper are amazing, and it's coming
- 32:16Speaker 1: out of such a small, sophisticated thing, a bit like Paul.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's yep. No, I'm like the hum Vy
- 32:25Speaker 2: just big brute anyway, So it's all we'll drive. I
- 32:31Speaker 2: love the fact that, like the Giaris, you can select
- 32:34Speaker 2: whether you want front bias, rear bias, or fifty to fifty.
- 32:37Speaker 2: This also has front and rear toss and limited slip differentials.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Like it's a proper little package here, and when we
- 32:44Speaker 2: fanged around the proving ground, it's really fun to drive.
- 32:48Speaker 2: It is fairly It has a bit of body roll
- 32:51Speaker 2: built into it. You can kind of feel that it's
- 32:53Speaker 2: built for a bit of a rally course to throw around.
- 32:56Speaker 2: It's not really like a civic type how where it's
- 32:57Speaker 2: super firm and quite uncomfortable. It'll do zero to one
- 33:01Speaker 2: hundred in under six seconds manual transmission only, and they
- 33:06Speaker 2: do a lightweight version that I think it's like thirty
- 33:09Speaker 2: five kilos lighter than the standard one that only has
- 33:12Speaker 2: two seats and lightweight wheels and slightly more talk as well,
- 33:16Speaker 2: and that is due to it being lightweight. So yeah,
- 33:20Speaker 2: I reckon it's a fun little car. I didn't love
- 33:23Speaker 2: the noise. So inside the cabinet sounds great, but outside
- 33:26Speaker 2: it just sounds like induction noise. And I don't know,
- 33:28Speaker 2: do you think that a car like this needs to
- 33:30Speaker 2: sound good?
- 33:31Speaker 1: You look at the competitors, like the yon Day I
- 33:34Speaker 1: thirty N or the Gulf R. Yeah, the I thirty
- 33:39Speaker 1: N sounds spectacular.
- 33:41Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 33:42Speaker 1: There. It's an interesting one because when you look at
- 33:46Speaker 1: those three stacked up, what's your favorite it is?
- 33:50Speaker 2: It is hard because I've just driven the Civic Type
- 33:53Speaker 2: A and that'll still be under embargos. I can't talk
- 33:56Speaker 2: about it. But it's a very different package to the
- 33:58Speaker 2: Corolla and the Civic Type A front wheel drive only,
- 34:01Speaker 2: so when you look at the Corolla, it's got the
- 34:03Speaker 2: benefit of being all wheel drive, but you're kind of
- 34:06Speaker 2: hampered with that engine. Like it's an incredible amount they've
- 34:08Speaker 2: been able to extract out of it, But I don't
- 34:10Speaker 2: know how much you could modify there without the thing
- 34:12Speaker 2: just igniting in flames if you try to get a
- 34:15Speaker 2: bit more out of it. Whereas with the I thirty
- 34:17Speaker 2: N and the Type you've got so much more headroom.
- 34:19Speaker 2: And even though they're both front wheel drive, they both
- 34:21Speaker 2: deliver quite a mode of experiences. And with the Kyuendai,
- 34:24Speaker 2: like you don't even need to drive it fast, and
- 34:26Speaker 2: it sounds like, you know, it just sounds unreal. So
- 34:30Speaker 2: I just reckon that that they could have missed a
- 34:32Speaker 2: trick with this.
- 34:33Speaker 1: But it's also fairly expensive.
- 34:36Speaker 2: It is like seventy two grand or whatever, like it's
- 34:39Speaker 2: a lot of money. So yeah, you are paying for
- 34:41Speaker 2: that privilege. But look, it is a special car. And
- 34:44Speaker 2: I think in five, ten, fifteen years time, when electric
- 34:47Speaker 2: cars are becoming more and more normal, this is going
- 34:51Speaker 2: to stand out. And I think this will be a
- 34:53Speaker 2: collector's item. I really do think that in fifteen years time,
- 34:55Speaker 2: you look back at this and go, Wow, it's so
- 34:57Speaker 2: cool that they actually made one of those that wasn't
- 35:00Speaker 2: hybrid diized or anything like that. It was just pure
- 35:02Speaker 2: internal combustion. I reckon that's pretty cool.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, I think this will be one to
- 35:07Speaker 1: keep in the shed and try not to drive it
- 35:10Speaker 1: around too much. I think it's everything you say it is.
- 35:13Speaker 1: It looks great, it feels great. There's a few things
- 35:17Speaker 1: that lack a little bit. The interior for me wasn't
- 35:21Speaker 1: I don't think where it should have been in twenty
- 35:24Speaker 1: twenty three. I love that it's lost. I love that
- 35:27Speaker 1: it's mad.
- 35:28Speaker 2: Sorry, yeah, it lost a center console. Its no center console.
- 35:31Speaker 2: They deleted that, which means you don't get air vents
- 35:33Speaker 2: in the rear either. Like, it's just like.
- 35:35Speaker 1: What the infotainment display too, is just like's that thick
- 35:40Speaker 1: bezzling around the side.
- 35:42Speaker 2: In all, it's just and you can tell there's room
- 35:45Speaker 2: there for a much bigger and better infotainment system.
- 35:48Speaker 1: I mean that's you look at that compared to say
- 35:51Speaker 1: the I thirty en. I mean, I'm I'm not hugely
- 35:54Speaker 1: wrapped with the interior of the I thirty end, but
- 35:56Speaker 1: fuck they do that. They do the infotainment displaying that
- 36:01Speaker 1: so well with the track stuff and everything in N mode.
- 36:05Speaker 1: They do that brilliantly. And I just feel like the
- 36:07Speaker 1: tech in this it just looked a little bit. It
- 36:10Speaker 1: looked a little even though it is updated and it's
- 36:13Speaker 1: technically it's there. It just looks and feels a little
- 36:16Speaker 1: bit doss program in a way.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, exactly. The rest of the rest of the
- 36:21Speaker 2: car feels high tech, and then that doesn't. They did
- 36:24Speaker 2: deliver though, with a cool driver display and that gives
- 36:27Speaker 2: you like a g bubble and all these other really
- 36:29Speaker 2: cool gauges, which I really like. So all that sort
- 36:32Speaker 2: of stuff's cool. It revs all the way through the
- 36:34Speaker 2: red line, So a lot of these cars are sort
- 36:36Speaker 2: of limited so you can't actually rev them up. This
- 36:38Speaker 2: goes all the way through the red line, which I
- 36:40Speaker 2: reckon is pretty unreal, and it's not something you come
- 36:43Speaker 2: to expect with a sort of with a car like this,
- 36:46Speaker 2: you expect it to be a bit more docile. But
- 36:49Speaker 2: from that point of view, it's fun. I wish it
- 36:51Speaker 2: had like a drift mode or something. I sort of
- 36:54Speaker 2: tried fairly hard to get this thing to drift, and
- 36:56Speaker 2: it really doesn't do it unless you get the handbrake
- 36:58Speaker 2: involved or you're on of low news surface. So I
- 37:02Speaker 2: just wish it had the ability to kick all the
- 37:04Speaker 2: talk to the rear to sort of get it to
- 37:06Speaker 2: be a bit more sort of engaging in that sense.
- 37:08Speaker 2: But that's lot of that is it is really good
- 37:10Speaker 2: fun to drive, excellent brakes, and just it puts a
- 37:14Speaker 2: big smile on your face, which is what you really
- 37:16Speaker 2: want from a car like this.
- 37:17Speaker 1: It's packed full of the goods. It looks fantastic. I
- 37:21Speaker 1: love the fact that they've taken care and built this properly,
- 37:24Speaker 1: like they've built it in a separate factory to all
- 37:27Speaker 1: the other toyotas as well. But it's let down I
- 37:31Speaker 1: think slightly in the tech. That's a real shame. I
- 37:34Speaker 1: would have loved to have seen a bit more storage
- 37:35Speaker 1: as well. I mean, believe it or not, I mean
- 37:38Speaker 1: this storage and stuff like that. It's a simple thing,
- 37:42Speaker 1: but I feel like it. You know, it's as a
- 37:45Speaker 1: daily it should it should be there.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Yeah, one hundred percent. And yeah you could check out
- 37:50Speaker 2: the video review I shot of it at the Car
- 37:53Speaker 2: Expert YouTube channel. I have one hundred thousand views. Mate. Okay, okay, days.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Media guy Marty is crying after you said that as
- 38:06Speaker 1: he plays his piano. He loves the piano. Do you
- 38:10Speaker 1: know about that about producing?
- 38:11Speaker 5: Mary?
- 38:12Speaker 2: You know, I'm going to have to get some lessons,
- 38:14Speaker 2: I reckon, Yeah.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Get some lessons off Marty, you'll be like Jeffrey Rush
- 38:18Speaker 1: and shine before you know it.
- 38:20Speaker 2: I don't know what that means, but it sounds exciting.
- 38:22Speaker 1: It's a movie from the mid nineties. You were probably
- 38:26Speaker 1: un a bone back then, but.
- 38:29Speaker 2: It was that six months we were sailing to Astrata.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Yeah, you were just trying to survive.
- 38:34Speaker 2: Reception wasn't great on there.
- 38:35Speaker 1: You're too busy, just trying to avoid pirates, not pirates
- 38:39Speaker 1: at the caravans, actual pirates.
- 38:41Speaker 2: Thanks, guys, Hey, let's let's chat feedback. You know, it's
- 38:45Speaker 2: around this time of the show where I love to
- 38:48Speaker 2: sort of get into it and just share some of
- 38:51Speaker 2: the great feedback you guys leave us and sometimes not
- 38:55Speaker 2: not great as well, but sometimes great.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Let's just trade on the great because that's the only
- 39:02Speaker 1: stuff I care about, and it's the only stuff I
- 39:06Speaker 1: generally read. If it's doesn't mention how good I am
- 39:09Speaker 1: in the first three words, I don't care. I just
- 39:13Speaker 1: won't read the rest.
- 39:15Speaker 2: Well, I'll start with this one. I don't know if
- 39:16Speaker 2: I've already read this one, but the title is entertaining,
- 39:19Speaker 2: so it's a good start. From Jordan dot Ong, and
- 39:23Speaker 2: he wrote, frankly, don't know if this is a car
- 39:26Speaker 2: podcast or a Donna podcast. But overall ten out of
- 39:29Speaker 2: ten good feedback. This one's good as well. From Tought Tough,
- 39:36Speaker 2: it is heard rate humor not a great start, okay,
- 39:40Speaker 2: one star this review. The can't info components are fine,
- 39:44Speaker 2: the attempt at humor is puile.
- 39:47Speaker 1: You know what I liked about that? As you read
- 39:49Speaker 1: that in your media watch voice, you know you're watching
- 39:52Speaker 1: medium watch and they get to the letters part and
- 39:55Speaker 1: they're like that broadcaster was atrocious, se the fat controller.
- 40:03Speaker 2: But it's up from there. So then we had Rob
- 40:06Speaker 2: f one two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight nine,
- 40:09Speaker 2: and he wrote, or she wrote, they them funny as
- 40:12Speaker 2: the title, some funny gags with the sprinkling of car info.
- 40:17Speaker 2: I'm the target market, so I really enjoy listening to
- 40:20Speaker 2: this podcast on your Rob. And then this is probably
- 40:24Speaker 2: my favorite from Footy bogan Ah, titled Donna and Little Pavelet.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Yes, but it reads this is the.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Informative car podcast that I wasn't even looking for. I
- 40:41Speaker 2: asked chat gpt to find the best podcast for Little
- 40:44Speaker 2: Paveler and MILF's name Donna.
- 40:46Speaker 7: Trust me, she's not a milf that dream of converting
- 40:50Speaker 7: homosexual men of Serbian descent, and descent is spelt wrong,
- 40:56Speaker 7: so it actually reads homosexual men of Serbian decent.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Unfortunately, there is too much car talking between the daily
- 41:04Speaker 2: adventures of don on the school run. I agree, long lived,
- 41:08Speaker 2: little Pavlo.
- 41:11Speaker 1: Okay, we do have some serious dms. You know, it's
- 41:14Speaker 1: quite funny. There's that. There's one guy who keeps going, hey,
- 41:16Speaker 1: you've got to answer my question again this week. Hey,
- 41:19Speaker 1: you've got to answer my question again, and I can't
- 41:22Speaker 1: find him. I know. One of his questions were when
- 41:24Speaker 1: are we getting merch? And it was an interesting one.
- 41:27Speaker 1: I'm like, well, maybe we should get merch.
- 41:29Speaker 2: He gave merch to Trevor this week. That fluffy eye piece.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good one. Maybe we could do Maybe
- 41:36Speaker 1: we could do fluffy eye pieces of merch.
- 41:41Speaker 2: Yeah, Donna was here and it just goes on your face.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Maybe maybe we could do like a Donner car air
- 41:49Speaker 1: freshener that you're hanging your car and it's actually a
- 41:51Speaker 1: drawing of a vagina and it just smells like a
- 41:53Speaker 1: dozen rotten oysters.
- 41:58Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 41:58Speaker 2: I like that.
- 41:59Speaker 1: Okay, we'll get onto that. That's a good idea, Paul,
- 42:02Speaker 1: I catch Paul just opening the box of air freshers,
- 42:05Speaker 1: just like rubbing them under his harbit. It's just just
- 42:08Speaker 1: he just tears them open like it's a KFC refresher.
- 42:10Speaker 1: Towl just wipes his face anyway. So yes, when are
- 42:18Speaker 1: we getting merched? I don't know, that's not a bad one.
- 42:20Speaker 1: I'll speak to a few people. Maybe we can make
- 42:23Speaker 1: it happen.
- 42:24Speaker 2: That'd be fun to speak to Marty. Maybe between piano
- 42:27Speaker 2: lessons he can organize something muddy if you want to
- 42:31Speaker 2: be like a little a little parvlay. Yeah, please leave
- 42:37Speaker 2: us a rating on whichever platform you're listening to. Obviously,
- 42:41Speaker 2: since we ruptured the airwaves and had legal issues, some
- 42:47Speaker 2: people took issue with a lot of stuff and they've
- 42:50Speaker 2: just been very negative. So it's proved.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, since we since we kind of came back,
- 42:57Speaker 1: and when we did come back, ironically, we got more
- 43:01Speaker 1: listens than ever before. When we started sort of calling
- 43:04Speaker 1: out even more crap that happens in the industry, which
- 43:07Speaker 1: you know, I love, Everything went even bigger. But it
- 43:12Speaker 1: also brings out a few haters, which is fine.
- 43:14Speaker 2: Yeah, that's good. We thrive off haters and just on
- 43:17Speaker 2: very serious note, very briefly, I love haters because they
- 43:22Speaker 2: are certainly in our business life. We had a lot
- 43:24Speaker 2: of haters when we started Car Expert, and I love
- 43:28Speaker 2: haters because you take what they say and they're obviously
- 43:31Speaker 2: someone who sits at home and has nothing better to
- 43:33Speaker 2: do with their time, and you just use that to
- 43:37Speaker 2: grow and you use that to push you even further.
- 43:39Speaker 2: And I found that whenever we're in a position where
- 43:42Speaker 2: a hater comes out and says something, you basically use
- 43:44Speaker 2: that as fuel to keep going. So bring it on,
- 43:47Speaker 2: I say, And for those who can't be bothered wasting
- 43:49Speaker 2: their time being nasty pasties heading give us a five
- 43:53Speaker 2: star rating, leave a funny comment as well, because we'd
- 43:55Speaker 2: love to read it out on the show, and contact
- 43:57Speaker 2: at the Driver's Show dot com dot au if I
- 44:01Speaker 2: want to send us an email.
- 44:03Speaker 1: Two says are now an rs SO drivers.
- 44:06Speaker 2: He's hitting his keyboard, but I think it's got rubber keys,
- 44:09Speaker 2: which is why you probably can't hear this.
- 44:12Speaker 8: This podcast is fucking woeful. In my day, if you
- 44:24Speaker 8: had a point to make or some sort of an opinion,
- 44:29Speaker 8: you'd stand outside the steps of the town hall and
- 44:35Speaker 8: shouted through a rolled up newspaper now I don't mind
- 44:42Speaker 8: little pavlais comments, and I quite enjoy his YouTube channel
- 44:50Speaker 8: and might quite enjoy his program and his sense of fashion.
- 44:56Speaker 8: He really knows how to wear the shit out of
- 44:59Speaker 8: those rivers slecks. What I don't appreciate is that Gordon
- 45:08Speaker 8: Fellow who clearly hasn't driven anything pre nineteen eighty one.
- 45:18Speaker 8: What an absolute university trendy you want to be? And
- 45:23Speaker 8: probably a homosection. I could go on for fa too long,
- 45:30Speaker 8: and I probably will, which.
- 45:36Speaker 1: My wife will be like, why were you so late tonight?
- 45:41Speaker 1: I'm like, well, I was bashing an imaginary keyboard, making
- 45:45Speaker 1: up an old man voice with a little Pavli That's why.
- 45:49Speaker 1: Now go to bed.
- 45:51Speaker 10: You're waking up our children. Didn't you said that? You
- 45:58Speaker 10: said that, You said that was your I saw your mouth,
- 46:02Speaker 10: that was you.
- 46:03Speaker 2: I would never say that to my life anyway, Yes
- 46:05Speaker 2: you would. Anyway, I'm going home.
- 46:07Speaker 1: Yeah, did your wife still listen to this podcast?
- 46:09Speaker 2: By the way, I hope not.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Did you stop at the Trevor one because that offended
- 46:13Speaker 1: a lot of people. Anyway, Thank you Trevor for coming
- 46:17Speaker 1: back on the show. Thank you Pa, Thank you to everyone,
- 46:21Speaker 1: and please like, comment, share, love you, bye,
