- 0:11The thing isn't though. Now you say that I can't see it.
- 0:13You're absolutely right. There were time to let's let's.
- 0:15Talk about that first. Because I was going to go in a
- 0:17totally. Different direction.
- 0:19You can make as much money as you need and work your way
- 0:22towards any ship in the game. They they were trying to cash in
- 0:26off of that nostalgia and that height.
- 0:30Oh yeah, look at that. Look how smooth that was.
- 0:37So very smooth. That transition could say with a
- 0:42little bit of practice getting pretty good at this.
- 0:48Practice makes perfect. Practice makes perfect and today
- 0:53I have a a very perfect special guest with me.
- 0:57You'll be listening and Tav's going to be out for the next few
- 0:59weeks. He's well.
- 1:01I can't say he's doing some good things.
- 1:06So while he's out, we're going to have some guest hosts.
- 1:09Some guest hosts like today Duke, later the second.
- 1:14Welcome to Open Comms Radio, Duke.
- 1:17Thank you. Thank you.
- 1:18Glad to be here. It's an honor.
- 1:21I thank you for pronouncing my name properly.
- 1:24What do? What do other people say?
- 1:27Duke lay tall. They just kind of drag out those
- 1:31uppercase ties into a couple of LS, you know?
- 1:34They don't know Roman numerals. It's, it's tough, you know, not
- 1:37everyone covers that. Maybe they're not from that part
- 1:40of the world, you know, Maybe they don't get Roman history.
- 1:42That's true. Right.
- 1:45Maybe they get Korean history. Right.
- 1:49I don't know the Korean numerals if there are different ones.
- 1:53I know Japan invaded. I mean, yeah, everyone knows
- 1:57that there was that movie. There was that movie for a long,
- 2:02long time. I wouldn't be able to say this,
- 2:05but I think I may know more about Star Citizen history by
- 2:08playing Star Citizen that I might know about other countries
- 2:12histories. I think that's probably, that's
- 2:16probably true of a lot of gamers who play Star Citizen or any
- 2:19other game. That's true.
- 2:21Well, now we finally have something.
- 2:23We have something like narratively.
- 2:25True. Yeah, we're getting some in game
- 2:27lore. Piggyback in piggyback in piggy
- 2:33piggyback in piggyback in off of the the resource drive which you
- 2:38could help me finish. I just I have to say this during
- 2:43this episode, cigi don't know. I don't know what you did but
- 2:49you really hated me. You hated me so hard this patch
- 2:53I would I was had one more mission left and twice I tried
- 2:56to do it. Both times I take a large cargo
- 3:01and I land on by genie point and I I go to take the cargo out and
- 3:06my hanger disappears just like that.
- 3:11And. Then I go back in my my ship is
- 3:14still there and all the cargo still in the ship and you can't
- 3:16move it off the ship. Now, when you were getting those
- 3:20that cargo, were the elevators working for you, or was it like
- 3:24it was at the beginning where you were desperately trying to
- 3:26get a large shipment? No, no, it was perfect until
- 3:29then. OK.
- 3:29Literally. Like, at least there was that
- 3:33they didn't totally hate you, you know, you, I mean, have to
- 3:35jump servers four times to find an elevator that works.
- 3:39Yeah, but I had to. I had to do the whole mission
- 3:41before I found out I'm. I kapooched it.
- 3:44But after the second time, I was like, you're not going to fool
- 3:46me again. There's no way.
- 3:48Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, I won't be fooled
- 3:53again. And it was, it was a week apart
- 3:55by the way, this wasn't like back-to-back.
- 3:58This was like I did that once and then I was like I'm not
- 4:00playing and I didn't play for like 5 days and then I did it
- 4:03again and the same thing happened so.
- 4:05You gave up. OK, You needed something.
- 4:08You needed that that week off to recharge.
- 4:10No, I didn't give up. I said, hey Duke, do you want to
- 4:14Co host the show? And you're like, yeah, I was
- 4:16like, great, can you also do this mission for me?
- 4:21That it was an honor, just like tonight.
- 4:23It it was an honor to help move those boxes for you.
- 4:26Wow, dude. And if I recall, I think I moved
- 4:28all the boxes for you and flew the ship and landed it and and
- 4:34dropped the boxes off and put them in the elevator and then
- 4:37all you had to do was push the button to send them down.
- 4:40To be fair, I've I've done it so many times before that.
- 4:44To be fair. I just couldn't bring that.
- 4:47Yeah, but some of the cool stuff that we could bring ourselves
- 4:51to. Did you try the what are they
- 4:55called the ASD missions? The the ASD missions, the Onyx
- 4:59facility I did. The Onyx.
- 5:01Onyx, Onyx. I did finally.
- 5:04I, I was going to wait. I've been waiting for a friend.
- 5:07I was going to try and do it with him, but I, I couldn't, I
- 5:11couldn't wait any longer. I had to try it because
- 5:12everyone's been talking about it.
- 5:14So I did jump in there today in between parental stuff like I
- 5:21got into a little bit, not as much as I wanted to.
- 5:25What do you think? That is a loaded question.
- 5:28I've got a lot of thoughts. I got a lot of thoughts.
- 5:31I think like I didn't even want it.
- 5:33Normally I would really dive into it and I would, you know,
- 5:37I'd write out my thoughts and, and kind of analyze it, but I
- 5:42wanted to just do it fresh. I wanted to do it with with our
- 5:44guest today and just talk it over and and see what they
- 5:47think. Well, that may be why you picked
- 5:49this week's question. It could be why.
- 5:53That is why. It's definitely why.
- 5:55What question did you pick this week?
- 5:58This week's question is Onyx Facilities the future of
- 6:03exploration gameplay or just another dead end bunker mission?
- 6:10It's harsh. It is, I mean, it's, it's a
- 6:13little harsh. It's a little, you know, it's a
- 6:16little controversial. Could be honestly, you, you said
- 6:19that and I was like, huh? It's I, I always, I have a lot
- 6:24of thoughts about it. I have a lot of thoughts, but I
- 6:27don't want well steal people's Thunder.
- 6:29We'll we'll share our thoughts with our with our new friends.
- 6:32No Duke, this is this is your show this week.
- 6:34You're the Co host, so anything you say goes however you like to
- 6:38do it. But just so everybody else
- 6:39knows, this is Opencoms radio, your Star Citizen call in show,
- 6:43where every week on Wednesdays and every week, anyone who wants
- 6:47to call in can just hop into the Discord here and call in.
- 6:50And we have some favorite friends and who are packed here.
- 6:53So we're going to get to it with the first one who is in the
- 6:56caller waiting room, Lord Anubis.
- 7:02Hello, hello, hello. Hello, my Lord.
- 7:09Duke, you can. You can ask him.
- 7:10Oh, I'm going to ask him. I I'm greeting him, I'm greeting
- 7:12him. I want to make sure he's greeted
- 7:14first. He's going to ask me.
- 7:16We're going to ask you. You ready?
- 7:18You ready for the question? Sure.
- 7:20OK. Tonight's question.
- 7:22Onyx facilities, The future of exploration gameplay, or just
- 7:26another dead end bunker mission? Well, I, I, I, I, I guess the
- 7:36only thing I could say is how many other things were
- 7:41supposedly going to change the way the game works.
- 7:45You know, Pyro is supposed to change everything.
- 7:50The executive hangers, oh whole like this is a whole new system.
- 7:54Every single thing that has come along has supposed was supposed
- 7:59to be the next step and and it was going to change the way we
- 8:02play. I think that the jury is still
- 8:06out on this. It's too early to say.
- 8:08I think that if they decide to leave these as is and not add
- 8:14additional content to them, that these are just the stories you
- 8:18run through here and that's it, that they're not going to like
- 8:20use them for other things. Then you have to dead end just
- 8:23like everything else. It's another new roller coaster
- 8:26that everybody's going to try and then they're going to go and
- 8:28move on to, you know, doing the other stuff and, and, and the in
- 8:33the amusement park, you know, and, and then no one goes on the
- 8:38roller coaster anymore because there's a new shiny.
- 8:41So I have, I have something related kind of to what you're
- 8:43saying about this. And it's about like so this,
- 8:47there's 120 of these facilities, they're all exactly the same.
- 8:52And it initially I was like really upset about that because
- 8:56it's like, I don't know, just put some like random stuff in
- 8:59it, right? I think it breaks the immersion.
- 9:02Yeah, and there's always in every facility, there's the same
- 9:04guy in the same chair who's like dead behind the desk or
- 9:08whatever. Maybe that maybe that's not a
- 9:10mistake. Well.
- 9:12Exactly dude, I was thinking that and the story and
- 9:16everything makes it seem like this should be like one place.
- 9:20And I think maybe initially they planned for this to be one
- 9:23place, like one location and they were maybe wanted to
- 9:26instance it. This content seems like it's
- 9:29made for instancing, not 120 different locations.
- 9:33I agree. Yeah.
- 9:35And like the fact the way the missions are functioning right
- 9:37now where you know, it's like go down, get the personnel files,
- 9:41go down, download, get the personnel files.
- 9:43And it's like, all right, leave the facility.
- 9:45And, and I'm like, wait, why, why am I leaving?
- 9:49Like, OK, I get it if that was the whole mission, but then it's
- 9:51like, all right, now go to this facility and it'll send you to
- 9:54another location of the exact same facility to go into the
- 9:58mission again. So it it's almost like the
- 10:00missions are broken where it all should have just been, like you
- 10:05said, like instanced in one facility, but instead it's got
- 10:08us hopping from one to the other to get through missions that are
- 10:11basically like go from room A to room B in the same facility.
- 10:16Right. And and then it's also, I feel,
- 10:19why am I going to if all these locations are exactly the same,
- 10:22why do I have to keep going to different ones?
- 10:25Right, that's what I mean. Like it is it broken?
- 10:27Was this the original intent? Because it's just.
- 10:30It doesn't make sense. I think they they couldn't get
- 10:33instancing done in time. Yeah.
- 10:36And then they just. Screw it, put the content out
- 10:39because it's cool narratively and they and I think the
- 10:42narrative is tight. They need to keep everything on
- 10:45track for the narrative for this year.
- 10:47Because if they had split up the facility into like smaller
- 10:50facilities and maybe done like four or five of them, then it
- 10:53would make sense, you know, to be jumping between them for the
- 10:57missions. But like you said, to go from
- 11:00one facility where you got Bob dead in the corner and then fly
- 11:05to a different moon, different facility and you go down the
- 11:07elevator and there's Bob dead in the corner.
- 11:11It's, you know, like I said, it's immersion breaking.
- 11:14It's a little disappointing, that's all.
- 11:18Unless this ties into the, you know, the whole, what's it
- 11:23called, Second Life initiative thing, right?
- 11:27And these whole facilities are clones.
- 11:28That's it. You know, they're, they're
- 11:31identical because they're, they've been copied.
- 11:35What do you think about that, Lord Anubis?
- 11:44They just need. They just need shit that
- 11:47actually matters that you can still build upon and everything
- 11:52else like that. I mean, again, these rides are
- 11:55wonderful. They're you know, you go on the
- 11:57ride, you go with your friends and then it's done and then
- 12:00that's it. And I guess before, when it was
- 12:03just like, OK, well, we have just simple bunkers and we have
- 12:05simple things. It's it's, you know, it is what
- 12:07it is, but we were expecting that something was going to
- 12:11change things and something was going to make this feel more
- 12:14like a life that you're living rather than just a bunch of
- 12:18rides you're visiting. And it still hasn't happened
- 12:21yet. Now it feels like they're
- 12:23pumping tons of time and effort into more bunkers.
- 12:31Like what? When was?
- 12:32When was the last time you did a half door?
- 12:36Yeah, I mean, exactly. But you know orbital things and
- 12:39it's going to change everything and you're going to go mining
- 12:41and you're going to do all these.
- 12:42Other things for. Wiccolo and no one does it and
- 12:46it was and and even looting is just, you know, you got
- 12:52everything now. If they'd made those half bone
- 12:54minerals something that was just extremely valuable or, you know,
- 12:58very useful outside of Wicklow, Oh yeah.
- 13:02You know, I think people would be down there, you know, they'd
- 13:04be doing it more often. But they're just, yeah, first of
- 13:08all, I mean, the first, obviously they, they fixed it,
- 13:09but they tied this to the R&G in the beginning, which definitely
- 13:13turned people off. They were like, all right, well,
- 13:15I'm not going to waste my time. My main thought going through it
- 13:22was I just kept thinking this should be so much better if
- 13:27there was an economy, you know, because even like, I'm not, I'm
- 13:32not much of A loot goblin. I'm always going down.
- 13:34I see all the and I saw like some of the, what is it the ASD
- 13:39armor, the newest, like the Stealth 1.
- 13:43And I'm not into it. So I just, I don't know, I just
- 13:45don't pick it up. But there was like a, a built
- 13:48in, you know, economy where I could put that up for sale or I
- 13:52can bring it back to my, my base.
- 13:54Fingers crossed for 2025. And, you know, throw that in the
- 13:59what you want to call it in the mulcher, you know, and just get
- 14:03the, the parts for it, take it apart and use that to build
- 14:06something else. And hell yeah, I'd be doing it.
- 14:08I'd be down there. Yeah.
- 14:12You're not those other parts. You're not going to be getting
- 14:15anything of that like that, this, this, this next year.
- 14:19Yeah, 2025 is almost over. Yeah.
- 14:23I mean, they were supposed to be putting in, what do you call it,
- 14:27engineering, right? Yep.
- 14:30That was, that would have so going back to what you said,
- 14:32like, you know, all these things that were supposed to be game
- 14:34changing, that would have been game changing.
- 14:38It would have been a big difference for, you know, medium
- 14:41to large ship gameplay and they took it out and it would have
- 14:46made it exciting. I, I would be every night I'd be
- 14:48queuing up to be, you know, just an engineer on someone's
- 14:52interests or whatever, you know, right now, you know, sitting in
- 14:56the turret, they can get boring. But if I was literally running
- 15:00around putting out fires, swapping out components and
- 15:04fuses and stuff like that, I'd be there.
- 15:07But but they took that out. And I, you know, you have to
- 15:11believe that they took it out for a reason.
- 15:12It just wasn't ready. I mean, I mean, this has been,
- 15:18this has been years that they keep promising this and then,
- 15:22you know, they they dangle it in front of us and, you know, yeah,
- 15:25I want to be Scotty. I want to be someone.
- 15:28I don't just want to man a turret because I'm not that good
- 15:31at shooting from turrets. They just, you know, like I
- 15:35would like to. Do something like manatee.
- 15:39Manatee, yeah. Manate turret.
- 15:42I'm going to find an artist to draw that for me.
- 15:44It's going to be a turret with like a manatee tail all.
- 15:47Right. Well, Lord Anubis, I hope you
- 15:49stick around. Nah, I'm a bail.
- 15:52You're going to bail. No, I'm kidding.
- 15:56OK. Well, then you can scoot on down
- 15:58the couch there our next guest, cosmic Hobo Duke little science
- 16:03here see if you can pull hobo up and then you give him the intro
- 16:07I'm. Gonna go tug on hobo here.
- 16:09Let's see. Well, all right, I didn't say
- 16:11that like that. I can't.
- 16:13OK, I will bring Hobo from the guest waiting room channel into
- 16:18the open comms live channel. No weird innuendo at all.
- 16:24Duke, you want to introduce this guy?
- 16:27Cosmic Kobo. Welcome.
- 16:30Howdy. Howdy.
- 16:33All right. You ready?
- 16:34We've been we've been talking tonight's question.
- 16:36Onyx facilities. The future of exploration
- 16:39gameplay or just another dead end bunker mission?
- 16:43I think they're the future. If they can replicate this again
- 16:48for another storyline with a different facility, with a
- 16:51different kind of design. Yeah, sure.
- 16:55And I think at least for the short term, it's the future like
- 16:58short and medium term they're going to, they're going to melt
- 17:00this, they're going to open up that third wing with the next
- 17:03patch. We'll see where the story goes
- 17:07from there. I I don't think they did list in
- 17:12the Q&A that they were going to be other missions that involved
- 17:15the these facilities. Why they didn't release those
- 17:20missions with that Q&A, who knows, But so they're going to,
- 17:26they've got the assets, they've got the facilities, they're
- 17:29they're at least going to milk it for a while.
- 17:31And I hope they reuse this style at least and build upon it for
- 17:36other W lines. OK.
- 17:40So do you think, do you think now does this count as
- 17:43exploration or is this more like a re evolution of the the Pi
- 17:49investigation missions that we used to have?
- 17:53I think it's a bit of both. It's definitely more combat
- 17:57heavy than those Pi missions used to be, that's for sure.
- 18:01Until they started doing the hot drops of Cutty blacks filled
- 18:04with guys. Yeah, I, I, I, I only ever did a
- 18:08handful of those. I don't remember them.
- 18:10Very. I remember the spaceship ones I
- 18:12think, where you just kind of flew around with the.
- 18:14Horrible. Eva Mechanics.
- 18:16Oh yeah. And ran into stuff and it always
- 18:20looked way better in the trailers.
- 18:21But then now we have that proper Eva which that'd be cool to do
- 18:25those Pi missions again. I've been dying about those Pi
- 18:29missions back. Yeah, Yeah, this is this is sort
- 18:32of a cross between the those Pi missions and like a ACZ of
- 18:38sorts. Like they definitely maybe I can
- 18:43see people complaining that there was just maybe a too, too
- 18:45much E in the Pve of this of these missions.
- 18:50But I mean, I like it. I like that.
- 18:53I think that's, I think that was kind of the point, right?
- 18:56They were trying to deliver some of that Pve.
- 19:00I can't see, I can't see a really positive aspect of
- 19:07introducing PV PvP to this particular event.
- 19:12No, and unfortunately, though it will happen and.
- 19:15Has happened like. We've run into quite a few
- 19:18people already and I was, I was looting 1 box just the other
- 19:24day, just like my back was turned and I turned around and
- 19:28some guy came up and shot me and thankfully Murph and Rob were
- 19:32around. And yeah, I mean, it did.
- 19:35It happens. It's that person went to jail, I
- 19:39believe. So that worked because I went
- 19:43and shot him in the face. But it.
- 19:45Oh, I I learned something about that.
- 19:47So I don't mean to interrupt, but this is, this is good.
- 19:50There's a setting in your game settings like right on the
- 19:55right, on the top right on like the front page that says like if
- 19:59you don't, if, when after someone kills you and that
- 20:03message pops up like do you want to press charges?
- 20:06If you do nothing, it will automatically press charges.
- 20:09Really. Oh.
- 20:11Yeah. I need to you.
- 20:12Can turn it off. Do that.
- 20:14But it's on by default, so you don't even have to.
- 20:17Worry about take a look at that way.
- 20:18That's under game settings. Oh yeah, there it is.
- 20:22Report crime automatically if notification is ignored.
- 20:24OK. Yeah, I already have that as
- 20:25yes. It's on by default.
- 20:28Yep, OK. Opencoms PSA You don't have to
- 20:34do anything. If you've turned it off.
- 20:38Yeah, but. But yeah, I think they're great.
- 20:42I like them. I think they're the future.
- 20:45Yeah, All right, all right. How'd you feel about that?
- 20:48Go always go into the same one and see him Bob in the chair.
- 20:53It does get a little old. I I will say that I love them.
- 20:57I like it. We need more to the facilities.
- 21:00We need more wings. We need more.
- 21:02Floors, but I've said that about the bunkers in the past,
- 21:05although the bunkers, as has been stated on this show
- 21:08previously, we're very slap dash and thrown together and this was
- 21:12not this was clearly intentionally put together and
- 21:15planned out like I if these are the I still believe they took
- 21:21some of the level designers who are doing pretty much nothing
- 21:23from the squadron 42 once they finish their part of it and.
- 21:27On. This and if that is the case,
- 21:31then I genuinely have a much more hopeful out view outlook of
- 21:39a squad and four two. I, I've not had poor outlook of
- 21:41it, but I'm just like sure if it does well fine.
- 21:45But that, that, that gives me a little more hope on that.
- 21:49Yeah, I mean you, I, I hadn't even considered that because I
- 21:51mean, at this point, right, we are quote, feature complete.
- 21:56The level designers shouldn't be working their butts off right
- 21:59now, right? You should be.
- 22:01Doing miscellaneous tasks. Like clean up, you know, fixes
- 22:05here and there, but right, they got to put those people to work.
- 22:08So I can see now. All right, let's, you know,
- 22:11let's move them over to to Star Citizen.
- 22:13Let's get them putting together some stuff that that OK, you
- 22:17gave me some hope because that is a good way to look at it.
- 22:19There might be some more stuff in the pipeline.
- 22:22It was genuinely my first thought after saying the
- 22:25facilities is wow. They, they, they put those
- 22:27Squadron 42 designers to work because we've never seen
- 22:30anything like this in Star Citizen as far as level design
- 22:35goes, just nothing. But we have seen glimpses of
- 22:41this in the Squadron 42 trailers and demos and vertical slices
- 22:46and stuff they've shown over the years.
- 22:50All righty, all righty. I'm, I'm excited for it too.
- 22:53I think I agree in terms of level design and everything.
- 22:58Did you do the whole thing Cosmic?
- 23:00Oh yeah, we we, Murph, Rob and I did it all in like 1 sitting
- 23:05both on the PU and when it came out.
- 23:08So are you going to go back and do more?
- 23:10Yeah, OK. Very well.
- 23:15Speaking of Rob, yeah, I want to bring, we have two more guests
- 23:20in the bedroom, so I do want to bring up broccoli.
- 23:22Rob, if you could scoot over on the couch a little bit here.
- 23:27Give a. Little scooty dooty dooty Duke,
- 23:30you want to introduce this feller?
- 23:32Broccoli. Yep, that was that was your
- 23:37name. We'll do that in post Broccoli
- 23:42Rob Tonight's question. Onyx facilities, the future of
- 23:46exploration gameplay, or just another dead end bunker mansion?
- 23:53Hey, all good to good to see everybody.
- 23:56So I think that it is a type of I think it's a future for a type
- 24:03of exploration gameplay. It's the first on rails content
- 24:08that this game has that I mean they're older missions, but
- 24:12those all been kind of pushed away.
- 24:15This the Onyx facilities are the first on Rails content that one
- 24:20point O is going to see. OK.
- 24:25You think they're going to stick around?
- 24:27I have a feeling like these are just going to go away after this
- 24:30narrative's done. I, I mean, we'll have to see
- 24:34where the story goes. It's possible, but I don't think
- 24:38they've put the work into this to just disappear them after the
- 24:42narrative is gone. A waste of resources.
- 24:46I mean that brings up another question which I thought too
- 24:48like this whole multi patch narrative that they're working
- 24:52on, right? Does that go away after one
- 24:56point O and or do they do they reuse it and start again once
- 25:00the game has been launched? I think they've said in the past
- 25:04they want to keep it so that people playing now get to be a
- 25:09part of shaping the world and see the world get shaped without
- 25:13having to sort of hit like a, a big retcon button at one point.
- 25:16O but yeah, I think that they can be, they could, this could
- 25:24just be open forever, like just say like, Oh yeah, we want to
- 25:27track down Doctor Joret and maybe he's always on the loose.
- 25:32Maybe these are just replayable. Or maybe they have plans to
- 25:36slightly alter some of the voice lines to like, change the game
- 25:40ever so slightly for sustainable, like replayability,
- 25:46you know? I'm just thinking Doctor Joy
- 25:49keeps escaping from Arkham Asylum.
- 25:52No, they don't even need to do that.
- 25:53Clones. Baby clones.
- 25:55Oh, they couldn't. It he figures it.
- 25:58Out Doctor Joy. Every every time he gets
- 26:01captured he he manages to kill himself and then he is reborn on
- 26:05a clone while he mastered all himself again.
- 26:10About instancing, I don't think that the plan was to ever have
- 26:14these instance. I think the plan like
- 26:18narratively it's one place, but I think if it was one place that
- 26:25was instance, we would have a line of ships out of atmosphere
- 26:29to try to get into it. I think they've recognized that
- 26:32problem and just saturated the market with different facilities
- 26:38so that people wouldn't be running into each other and it
- 26:41didn't come turning the jump down over the single facility
- 26:45that was instance. I agree with that.
- 26:50That's why I wonder when they're going to get into.
- 26:53So there's, there's a huge real estate that is unused in the
- 26:57game right now, open space, right?
- 27:03If they want to have like an instant instanced event or
- 27:06something could have it based on a station out in, you know, deep
- 27:11space between the moons or something like that.
- 27:14I thought that would give them much more room to play with and
- 27:16and not have people. Right.
- 27:20Yeah, like transient jump points to temporary systems.
- 27:24Yeah, exactly. And you know the the entrance to
- 27:28the jump point is transient. So it it jumps around, you got
- 27:30to find it and then it's going to get bring you to the instant
- 27:32mission. And that whole system is always
- 27:35completely random. That's when they they do their
- 27:38like proc Gen. stuff. Yeah.
- 27:42Could be like a a vandal system. Like we don't know where this
- 27:46hole will take you, but we believe it is a vandal system
- 27:49and bada boom bada Bing you end up in a randomized vandal area.
- 27:58That's a, that's, that's the true beginning of of
- 28:00exploration, right? Having to search down these
- 28:03transient jump points. Well, I wanted to say I think
- 28:08Onyx facilities are the true start of exploration gameplay in
- 28:13a sense, because I think exploration gameplay is not
- 28:17going to be find a new wormhole, enter a new system, name the sun
- 28:23after yourself, rename the star after yourself.
- 28:29I think a lot of it is like Jar Jar we're we're doing this when
- 28:32we went in to the facility and everyone was thrown, throwing
- 28:36themselves down the elevator shaft.
- 28:39I kept saying do not do that, don't just.
- 28:43Try and they would still jump. Fast as possible.
- 28:45They would. You'd say you'd stand by the
- 28:47elevator shaft and say don't jump down there.
- 28:50And then I'd look down and lo and behold, someone's down
- 28:52there. Yeah, but The thing is, if you
- 28:55go all the way to the bottom, you can't get back up to the
- 28:59location that you need to be at to complete the mission.
- 29:05Which is smart. It's actually the levels are
- 29:06really smartly designed. Yeah, it's forcing people to
- 29:11investigate. It's not.
- 29:12It's you can't just chase a waypoint looking at the ground
- 29:17until you get there, not listen to the next step and then just
- 29:22chase away, point staring at the ground until you get there and
- 29:25then take the elevator out. You have to look around.
- 29:28You have to take in the video game that you're playing.
- 29:32Golly, what a concept. Asking for a lot.
- 29:40I don't. I don't think that's.
- 29:42Exploring, you know. No, I know.
- 29:45I actually, you know, I, it bothered me the most when we
- 29:49would do it with like a group and someone would be talking
- 29:51when my guy was talking. But I realized that.
- 29:55All of our I'm. Trying to experience it, but
- 29:59they're not all playing at the exact same time, you know?
- 30:00It's like you can get the mission and it plays for you.
- 30:03And he's like, oh Jay Wes, he's Australian.
- 30:07Which is strange because they don't have an Australian studio,
- 30:10do they? Yeah, but they're in the UK, the
- 30:14Australians popping up there all the time.
- 30:17Yeah, they broke free. Yeah.
- 30:20I didn't. I didn't know they were allowed.
- 30:22They're not. It's illegal.
- 30:25Only when they're out on bail. Yeah.
- 30:28All right, all right, Brock and Rob, anything you want to say to
- 30:34our Australian listeners or anything else about the game
- 30:36before we bring on our next guest?
- 30:40No and Gary all have great coffee.
- 30:41Hope I can try it sometime. All right, Australia has a great
- 30:46coffee. Well, this is Opencom's radio,
- 30:49your Star Citizen call and show. Just to remind, you can always
- 30:52call on in by joining our Discord.
- 30:55And today we have a first time caller.
- 30:58This gentleman has commented before.
- 31:01I think he said something very positive before about about the
- 31:05show was. It one of the bots.
- 31:08Nope. Real bonafide human being coming
- 31:10on. This is Minglewood.
- 31:14Minglewood, welcome to OPEN Comms Radio.
- 31:17Thank you for stopping by. We have a question for you
- 31:20today, Duke. I asked question.
- 31:24Minglewood Onyx facilities, the future of exploration, gameplay,
- 31:29or just another dead end bunker? Dang, that's a pretty good
- 31:34question. Well, I've been listening.
- 31:41I think at first I was thinking that it wasn't, but I've
- 31:43listened to what you guys were talking about.
- 31:45Like it wasn't exploration gameplay necessarily.
- 31:47But I like Rob's point about how the how the maze is made.
- 31:52So you know, you can go too far and then not get back.
- 31:55Well, I mean, go back to the top and you guys start over again,
- 31:57right? So yeah, possibly, I sure do
- 32:03have some disappointments with some things about it.
- 32:05You know, I I'm really disappointed in in the group
- 32:12gameplay how they how 1 you, you don't share rewards, right?
- 32:17So, but you also screw up the mission for yourself and cannot
- 32:22get rewards if you do it with someone else on their mission.
- 32:28Yeah. You know, those things are I
- 32:32think that's pretty heinous and I think that CIG has had a lot
- 32:36of has not been supporting group game play enough.
- 32:41You know, they say they design these things for groups, but yet
- 32:46they don't really pan out in the end.
- 32:51Let's see as far as the the, I think Rob also made a really
- 32:58good point about the instance and I was sure that this was
- 33:00meant to be instance, but the line of ships thing, that's a
- 33:03real deal. So it couldn't have been one
- 33:06place. But I I don't like the the, the,
- 33:12the, you know, the the fact that I have to really try to suspend
- 33:16my disbelief when it's the same location every single place.
- 33:19But I guess that's just the way it's got to be because of the
- 33:21number of players. So yeah, yeah, I've had fun.
- 33:27I did all the missions through and I'm in the repeatable stuff
- 33:30now. It was enjoyable.
- 33:33Did you do them by? Yourself, I do wish.
- 33:35Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I think I, I, I, I, I, I, I had
- 33:39somebody come with me on one of them and they LED too much there
- 33:43and I was like, I'm not doing any more of these with other
- 33:45people, you know what I mean? No, it it wasn't Jar Jar at all.
- 33:55Yeah, I LED Duke this morning because I had to go.
- 33:57I was like, just fucking let's go.
- 34:00What I did wish, though, was that I wish that the missions
- 34:03themselves had more text to clue you where to go.
- 34:08I really like that it doesn't tell you where to go when you go
- 34:10in. It tells you go to research or
- 34:12to engineering, right? But it doesn't, I mean, I guess
- 34:15the first mission you get a marker because you're so close
- 34:17to it, but you don't get a a marker until you're close, you
- 34:19know, until you've come to the appropriate area.
- 34:22And I wish that there was a little flavor text in the stuff
- 34:25to kind of, you know, have you follow signs or you know what
- 34:30I'm saying, like, like. There's a point.
- 34:34Where I'm just like, I just need to stumble around until I find
- 34:37the thing, right. And you know, which is
- 34:39exploring, but it would be cool if there was some contextual
- 34:43clues about like where you might be going and then things in the
- 34:46environment that pointed you towards, you know, even, you
- 34:50know, suddenly towards. So I, I think I would have
- 34:53enjoyed that more, but you know, it did make you explore the
- 34:58space. It was funny.
- 35:00I found the gravity lab. Oh, I, I actually, I don't want
- 35:03to talk spoilers, but I found something like on my first time,
- 35:07I was in there and looked around a bit, but then when I needed to
- 35:11go there for the mission, I kept going past where to go in there
- 35:15and, and, and I was kind of frustrated by that.
- 35:17I won't say what that was, but then I'm then I finally like,
- 35:20oh, am I just not? I mean, and and and I knew the
- 35:24place I had to go to because I'd seen the sign and been there and
- 35:26I'm like, this is what this place is for.
- 35:28I know I got to go there, but I couldn't remember how to get to
- 35:30it. And I just, you know, didn't
- 35:33find that turn for for an hour or so.
- 35:36But oh dude, because the places. They're not even that big.
- 35:39Like you, when you realize they're not even that big, but
- 35:41they're so confusing. I get lost in them all the time.
- 35:45Abrinthian. Yeah, yeah.
- 35:46But that's, that's a good critique on like, you know, I
- 35:49like it 'cause you're, you're not talking about the, the
- 35:53delivery of it and, and the goals and stuff, but just a
- 35:55critique of how they did it. Where if there had been little
- 35:59queues, like you said, like, oh, like, you know, the next thing
- 36:01you need to find is it's in the newer section of the facility,
- 36:05which was most recently, you know, dug through the the the
- 36:10Baron, you know, the bare rock beneath the facility.
- 36:12Like that would tell you like, OK, I'm probably going to see,
- 36:15you know, some bare rock walls, maybe some new construction.
- 36:19Little. Little cues like that.
- 36:21So that you're like, oh, like I'm on the right track.
- 36:23And I think that would make it more exploration investigation
- 36:28like as opposed to like you said, I'm stumbling around just
- 36:32hoping that I'm making the right turn.
- 36:35We had to follow like a just a few.
- 36:36Clues, you know that that you know, and you might stumble on
- 36:40it without seeing the clues, but like where there's clues there
- 36:43you know to be. So I'm just, I don't like like
- 36:45Indiana Jones and. Not like Mr. Bean.
- 36:48Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean.
- 36:49That's that's a good analogy. Yeah, yeah.
- 36:52So those are my feelings about it.
- 36:55I think that that that it looks it looks great.
- 36:59I think some. Of the.
- 36:59Waves of the enemies. Are silly, but I actually.
- 37:03Think. But I think a lot of that is
- 37:06them. Responding to gunfire, but I
- 37:09tried it with a silencer just to see if that would change it and
- 37:12I still had like tons of copions come rushing in when I shot one
- 37:18from a different, you know, in a different place, right, Like I
- 37:20would shoot a copion and then they would come running from
- 37:23some from you know, I'm not going to save the places so
- 37:25spoil stuff. They would be running from
- 37:27somewhere else, you know, So I think they're.
- 37:30Telepathic so. No, but they didn't come till.
- 37:34I shot the. Copians by me, right?
- 37:36So like as soon as I shot one of those Copians, I could, I knew
- 37:39that I just need to wait 30 seconds for the other ones to
- 37:42show up and, and, and it happened regardless of a
- 37:44silencer or not. So I thought that was
- 37:50interesting. So do you plan to keep going
- 37:54back? Yeah.
- 37:56Because I mean, I didn't. Intend to collect on the armor
- 37:59but now I've got like I just need.
- 38:02Like a couple I. Need like one leg and one arm
- 38:07and. 2 Back 3. Backpacks, you know, and then a
- 38:12little. Bit of a.
- 38:13Completionist. Well, just because.
- 38:16It's like I've got so. Many of the colors, now that I
- 38:18made it out with, it's like, Oh well, wouldn't it be cool to
- 38:20have them all? And you know, what else is there
- 38:22to do? What else is there?
- 38:25Yeah, well, I'm thinking so. We had this mission and then
- 38:29before this we had resource drive, and they're two very
- 38:31different approaches to missions and to gameplay.
- 38:35So mingle you can start. But this is obviously a question
- 38:38for everybody. Of these two missions, which do
- 38:44you prefer and which like, which do you want to see more of these
- 38:50two mission types? I think I'd like to see more.
- 38:55New places. So I think resource, I mean, I,
- 38:58I, I, I think the the new mission, I would lean there, but
- 39:02but mostly because of that, not just the fact that it's
- 39:05exploration or combat. I mean, like, I don't know if
- 39:08you guys read, but they said that, that, that, that you can
- 39:11take the red if you, if you got your Red Wing missions.
- 39:14And what was the other one? Repair missions maybe OK.
- 39:21That oh, Oh no. It was Eckhart mission, so if
- 39:24you have those opened up, you apparently can get missions and
- 39:28maybe it's not till three one but or maybe it's now I'm.
- 39:33Not sure. But anyway, the, the, it's if
- 39:35you're happening now or the plan is for the next patch, you're
- 39:38able to get Eckhart missions to go repair things in the, in the
- 39:42base and, or, or, or like Red Wing missions or, you know,
- 39:47whatever the, the, the freight services to bring things to the
- 39:52big places or perhaps pick things up for.
- 39:55Me. So they're.
- 39:57So. So they're already.
- 39:58Tying and hauling and repair missions which which which I
- 40:01think is a positive thing. And so I think my answer is not
- 40:05a particular type of mission, but it's like I liked it.
- 40:08I would want them to add more content that you can tie.
- 40:12You know the other game play into and I like.
- 40:16That this is exploration. Right.
- 40:18But now we have hauling coming to it.
- 40:20There's combat in it. I would like to have some less
- 40:22combatty parts, but you know, whatever.
- 40:27I guess it's only from the first time you do.
- 40:29The puzzle, right? And yeah, well, that's yeah, I,
- 40:33I think so. I.
- 40:33Think if they they added more random elements to it, if that
- 40:38if that's the direction they're going with adding other missions
- 40:40to it. If they add more random elements
- 40:41to it, I think then you'd have something there.
- 40:46I mean if they can make procedural.
- 40:48Like, you know, like parts, you know the section, you know
- 40:52where, where you actually do have to pause a, you know, have
- 40:55a, have a. Trap.
- 40:56Or a puzzle or A and have a few of those in.
- 40:59I think that would be pretty neat.
- 41:01But anyway, yeah, yeah. I mean, I should let someone
- 41:04else speak. What do you think?
- 41:06Brock the Rob between this mission and the last mission, so
- 41:13I. Did not like the last mission.
- 41:15I didn't like the that it really there was no benefit whatsoever
- 41:24to playing in a group. Let the the individual rewards
- 41:30were cranked up to 11. You get what I'm saying in this?
- 41:35One, there's, you know, a. Little bit of combat, a little
- 41:37bit of looting. Yeah, I'm sorry.
- 41:40In the current mission, a little bit of combat, a little bit of
- 41:41looting. But in the previous one it was
- 41:44move boxes alone so you can get paints.
- 41:48You know, I do like that they they said.
- 41:54Do this for war or. Do this so you can change things
- 41:57about the universe itself, which whether or not it's useful or
- 42:03not, it can be argued, but I like that idea.
- 42:08So I think there are elements to both of them that I like
- 42:11ultimately, I think I mean. I definitely like this.
- 42:16Current one more I think it it adds a lot and people it adds a
- 42:24lot and it doesn't add FOMO, which I can't stand as a way to
- 42:30motivate people to play the game, or at least.
- 42:36I think universal reward but. We won't have to get into all
- 42:38that, but I think both have their place in the purse but
- 42:42need to be changed slightly. OK, all right, who's who?
- 42:48We. Have next year I think Lord
- 42:49Anubis. Lord Anubis, you with us?
- 42:55What was that? So our question now is.
- 42:58Between the Onyx missions and then the previous missions, the
- 43:01resource drive missions, which do you want to see more of?
- 43:14I'd like to see them interlinked.
- 43:16I'd like to see them play into each other like you.
- 43:22Know having large. Events with multiple features
- 43:26utilizing multiple resources, like going back to Hathorp or
- 43:29something or whatever, you know, and, and also hauling and just
- 43:34having those types of things. Kind of like when we had the
- 43:36what was the one where we're making like millions permission,
- 43:41like 26,000,000 permission, the Ghost Hollow.
- 43:45I was like the. Drug hauling and But there were.
- 43:49Ways to do multiple things. You can either go into comet,
- 43:53you can do anything and I and I think you know, you incorporate
- 43:56FPS into that. You get everything all together
- 43:59and have them all playing to each other.
- 44:01I think that, but I'm not going to choose one or the other.
- 44:04I don't think I can't because you know, well.
- 44:09Then which one would you play? More like which one would you
- 44:11play more often? Would you be are you going to be
- 44:15running these Onyx? Missions or are you going to be
- 44:18hauling and mining and and doing something for?
- 44:22For resource drive, yeah. Well, I mean I I I I, I I think
- 44:27that I, I. Don't want the monotony.
- 44:31Of doing the same thing over and over and over again with hauling
- 44:34and everything like that. I would like the break to go do
- 44:36some to, to go do some of those Onyx missions.
- 44:40But again, I, I want them both to count towards things, you
- 44:43know, right. It's hard to choose between the
- 44:47two. I mean, honestly, I don't really
- 44:48have a particular play style that I want to stick to more
- 44:50than others, honestly. OK.
- 44:54All right. I hope that I don't think
- 44:55they're going to. Make us choose between the two.
- 44:57I mean, I certainly hope not. But that's really.
- 45:02It like bringing them. Together and you.
- 45:04Got me like the gear is turning on.
- 45:05Like imagine if there was an event or an admission right
- 45:10where we have to do some investigation.
- 45:13You're going to work through a facility or something.
- 45:15You've got to get to, you know, a computer console and get some
- 45:20details and then that opens up maybe another facility or a
- 45:25dense resource pocket or something.
- 45:28And then you can use that information or sell it on the
- 45:32server so that other people can then go to that facility and
- 45:35like load up their ships with with valuable resources.
- 45:38That's where that would be great, you know, if these things
- 45:41came together in an event like that.
- 45:45Yeah, I mean they they have enough.
- 45:47Resources to do it. I mean they have what, 1000
- 45:50employees? I mean, they should have the
- 45:53tools now to be able to be able to make these things on the fly
- 45:57in the time. They're supposed to be like,
- 46:01done with Squadron, we all know that.
- 46:04Oh yeah, feature complete. Yeah, feature.
- 46:07Complete. Except they still haven't
- 46:09figured out how they're going to do scanning and things like
- 46:11that, which. Again, you.
- 46:15Know Squadron sounds cool, but that's not the game I'm excited
- 46:19for. That's not the game I'm going to
- 46:21be playing for 10 years. Well, and if they don't?
- 46:24Know what they're going to do. With scanning, if they don't
- 46:26have a ship model yet, that's where like my my doubts come in.
- 46:29But we're not we're not talking about squadron right now.
- 46:31We're talking about which do you prefer, cosmic Hobo, this
- 46:34mission, Onyx facilities or the resource drive missions?
- 46:38I agree with Rob. 'S take, but it's to to be
- 46:42direct with the question. I I do ASD more just it's more
- 46:46enjoyable. I I like Rob said, I I want
- 46:52global awards. I want events to mean things on
- 46:56the end to the verse, but I don't.
- 47:00Want to do the? Same retrieval mission
- 47:062440880106 times or something? No.
- 47:14No thanks. Like that's it's it's exact.
- 47:18I'm doing one right now and it's like OK I've done this.
- 47:22Is the card always? In the exact.
- 47:23Same spot or whatever you're. Retrieving OH.
- 47:28For. For the ASD facility I'm I'm
- 47:30doing one of the ship retrieval missions right now.
- 47:33But oh OK. Depends on the.
- 47:36Card. Because the card and the
- 47:39avoiding spoilers the the floaty and not floaty places that one
- 47:45moves thousands in different spots at different times.
- 47:48The card at the flying pointy thing location is in the same
- 47:54spot every time I believe. And the card.
- 48:01For the spicy air area, is that a slightly, I think that's just
- 48:09a terminal. That terminal is one of the four
- 48:12or so they have around the there's a worm there.
- 48:16It's not one of the Super big ones, but the the room with the
- 48:19worm in the spicy spicy air. That head has different
- 48:25terminals for different times, but it's in the same like 5 feet
- 48:31from each other I guess. That's another one of their.
- 48:36One of their attempts to make sure that if one breaks that
- 48:40they don't all break, despite the fact that it kind of
- 48:46suspends your displace a wee bit.
- 48:48That's what I was going to ask is.
- 48:50Like have all those been used? Have you used all of those?
- 48:53Because there, there is also a Part 2 to these missions that
- 48:56they haven't released yet, right.
- 48:58So I'm. I'm wondering if we can.
- 49:01Figure out what Part 2 might be from from what we have well.
- 49:06There's levers at certain. Points and like, oh, there's a
- 49:14bunch of different things that we haven't used yet, especially
- 49:18in the engineering wing and the there's a whole level of the
- 49:23research area that is not currently used in any of the
- 49:28missions. And you usually just go past it.
- 49:32Most people just go past it and probably don't even realize it
- 49:35exists because you're you're going down an elevator shaft at
- 49:39that time and you need to, you know, you need to go to the
- 49:43bottom of set elevator shaft, but there's this whole floor of
- 49:48full of Copians mostly that's you don't really go down for
- 49:54anything right now. So yeah, there's there's
- 49:59certainly. Lots of other.
- 50:01Places, I think and and they could have some of them go
- 50:06together, like they could have certain things you need to do go
- 50:10go to point A to point B. Like I kind of expected more of
- 50:14that. Like the A to B spots so far are
- 50:18pretty close to each other with maybe one or two exceptions like
- 50:26the spicy. Air Room.
- 50:28Going to the even spicier. Air Room.
- 50:32Yeah, I mean they're there are small facilities.
- 50:35Yeah, they're not that big. They're just confusing.
- 50:38They are they? They give.
- 50:40A They have great atmosphere and they're just, I think they're
- 50:43great. I hope we get more than just
- 50:47another wing and just other missions like I.
- 50:49Like I said, I want to see this design replicated for more story
- 50:54arcs. It beats the pants off those
- 50:57old. Bunkers.
- 50:58Oh, definitely. Definitely does.
- 51:02Definitely does, but I. Do think we're referencing
- 51:05Duke's question. If there's not any randomness
- 51:08involved in it, this is going to get old and it will turn into a
- 51:11stale bunker. Because how?
- 51:13Many times you're going to see that.
- 51:14Pointy thing, yeah, it's just a fancier 1.
- 51:17So if they're going to keep these facilities around, like
- 51:20Mingle, you were saying that they're going to keep it around
- 51:23and they have other things to do in them, repair missions and
- 51:25stuff. I'd still like to see them
- 51:28randomized a bit if there's going to be right, because
- 51:31that's the. Thing with those silly old
- 51:33bunkers, you're fine with them being identical because that's
- 51:37the whole idea, right? They're basically just an
- 51:40extension of the prefab, you know, AB units.
- 51:44But this is supposed to be something really special, really
- 51:47unique, and yet there's over 100 of them.
- 51:51I think that's. Just more of a technical.
- 51:53Reason that's that's more of a that's a gameplay reason because
- 51:57they maybe they actually learned a lesson.
- 52:00That's if you have let, like everyone said already, if
- 52:04there's a line of ships out in front of it you, you're not
- 52:06going to it's it's, it's not going to matter.
- 52:10It could be it could be a well organized.
- 52:12Queue. We can fix that with.
- 52:14Shovels with shovels. Shovels.
- 52:18Shovels. Oh, shuttles.
- 52:20Well, that's. What they did with the worm
- 52:22facilities. The ASD facilities, they used
- 52:24shuttles for that. They could you, but you still
- 52:26have to. Fly in and land your ship.
- 52:28Yeah, right, 'cause. Using the elevator.
- 52:30Is. Similar to a shuttle, right?
- 52:33I mean if. It came out of a city or.
- 52:34Something or like a port. They could just use shuttles
- 52:37right? I was gonna say the the
- 52:38solution. Is Arc Corp.
- 52:43You land it. Arc Corp.
- 52:44Then you have to take a shuttle or, you know, a special metro
- 52:49system, whatever to if you want to call it, you know, it
- 52:52wouldn't necessarily have to be instanced because there's, you
- 52:55know, shit. Tons of real estate.
- 52:57For them to use under the city. So everyone can be getting
- 53:00different facilities. They can look the same, but you
- 53:03could have hundreds of them just on that one planet spread out
- 53:08and there you go. Like it's fine for everyone
- 53:11because they're all the same facility, but it allows them to
- 53:15space everyone out and and have them, you know, not on top of
- 53:20each other what they're, it looks.
- 53:23Like their plans to do for the sewers, right?
- 53:27Exactly. Environment.
- 53:29Or whatever those end up being, because I thought those were
- 53:33going to be kind of this in the sense that it's except I guess
- 53:37instance. I think having the multiple.
- 53:43Locations for this to, you know, avoid instancing or avoid
- 53:47overpopulation is fine as long as it wasn't sending me to
- 53:52multiple of them in the same mission chain.
- 53:57Right, I definitely agree with that.
- 53:59We we need to not have to. Leave the facility, let us go to
- 54:02the lobby, let us go to our hangar, and then let us just
- 54:06submit. Yeah.
- 54:08Well. If the admission is.
- 54:10Just to get files, then just submit and admission boom, all
- 54:14right, now we send you the next one.
- 54:15It's you know it's in the same facility.
- 54:18Get the next little bit. Mm hmm.
- 54:21See. That Yeah, I wonder if they.
- 54:23Did that again for a technical reason that they want to reset
- 54:27the environment so it doesn't constantly.
- 54:31It's not constantly streamed in. And we all know when something
- 54:35is streamed in constantly. Looking at you freight
- 54:38elevators, they break, things break.
- 54:41Yeah, but couldn't they just do that with the elevator?
- 54:43Going to the lobby, then you're in the lobby, and then it can be
- 54:46set because no one's in it. Yeah, no, Yeah, I agree.
- 54:49Like Lobby? But like, I don't know about,
- 54:53I'm worried. It's another instance.
- 54:54Of tech debt, right? They've designed the mission
- 54:57system like they're already in the process of doing it.
- 55:00And part of that is is randomizing, right?
- 55:03Like you, you accept the mission and then it's going to give you
- 55:07the location to do it based on where you are.
- 55:11And maybe they can't make it give you the mission at the same
- 55:15location maybe. Have there been?
- 55:20Have there been any other mission chains to where you
- 55:23complete a mission and then it will give you the next one in
- 55:26the exact same location? And I'm I'm asking because I
- 55:28don't know, not intentionally. Like what?
- 55:33Because one of the first things we did when the resource drive
- 55:38started as as as an org was we sat in like an interest at 1:00.
- 55:46Of the spawn. Locations for one of like the
- 55:49defend missions I believe it was and we.
- 55:53Just camped. It like we just sat there taking
- 55:57the mission, finishing it and then it would pop again and we
- 56:01would take it and refinish it and we did like 5 in a row
- 56:05before the servers crash. I.
- 56:13Yeah, I. Personally think.
- 56:15That having to leave the facility is a good thing.
- 56:20I think it forces people to slow down a little bit, which I think
- 56:26is important for exploration and investigation missions, because
- 56:31if you just want to try to chain these as fast as possible, it's
- 56:33like, OK, you're just. Like are you playing the video?
- 56:38Game or you just like grinding out a bunch of missions and like
- 56:41running from place to place it forces you to like slow down and
- 56:46take in the game a little bit sure I I.
- 56:50Think that it would. I think the first missions would
- 56:54benefit from leaving the facility, but the repeatable
- 56:56ones that that should be doable at the same facility.
- 57:02I think there's a good compromise there between if
- 57:05there's going to be grind required, like you need to drive
- 57:07through a Wick a little thing so you're going to have to grind
- 57:10them out anyway. I don't mind.
- 57:12Leaving for the first. Few missions if there was a
- 57:15lower reason. So like like you said, you know,
- 57:19it's good that it it slows people down forces kind of make
- 57:21it like an actual investigation and, you know, experience all
- 57:26the work they've put into the mission design.
- 57:28But OK, so make it you know, I go in, I get the personnel file.
- 57:33Cool. All right, mission complete.
- 57:35Thanks. And then put a timer.
- 57:37It's like, you know, you you're not going to get the next
- 57:40mission for like 1 in game day or something, you know 'cause
- 57:44they're going to analyse that yeah, I like that.
- 57:47But the you know the. Fact that I have to.
- 57:48Leave to, I don't, I don't know, just because I have to leave and
- 57:52then go right back in to get a different file or something.
- 57:55It would make me want to, you know, take my cuddy to wherever
- 58:00the guy's office is, who's who's running this mission and
- 58:03strangle him like. But do you have any idea how?
- 58:06Much. I mean, fuel taking off and
- 58:09landing from the facility. Just give me the next mission.
- 58:13Yeah. The only thing is that.
- 58:15There is a lower reason that you are leaving the facility.
- 58:18Yeah, It's because you download a hard drive or like a hard data
- 58:23that you have to turn in for him to look at.
- 58:26They could make it even harder and say you have to go turn it
- 58:30into his office in Louisville specifically because I was going
- 58:34to say there's there's no real. Reason I just send it to him on
- 58:38my mobi glass like I do with everything else.
- 58:41Well, no, you drop the. Hard drive into the freight
- 58:43elevator like you drive. You drop a hard copy later on,
- 58:47but not not the first. Machine there's an There's an
- 58:50inconsistency. There because you do you do just
- 58:53say, all right, I got it and it's like, OK, great.
- 58:56And then other times it's like you got to take that and drop it
- 58:58off at a station. It's like what?
- 59:00But can I just like e-mail you like?
- 59:04It's too big you. Reached the cap of your data?
- 59:08Data plan like what's what's up? But right, I guess like you
- 59:11said, it's. It's too big, right?
- 59:13John Jar Yeah, it's too big. Or it's.
- 59:15Security. You can't risk it being hacked
- 59:18or stolen or whatever that that is an actually a thing.
- 59:23Still, they will have careers, you know, especially for large
- 59:27data sets that need to be processed by AI.
- 59:29They'll have couriers with hard drives bring something because
- 59:32it is faster and more secure to do it that way.
- 59:34You. Want to know something else
- 59:38that's real that? I thought about that relates
- 59:39directly to this game. So we talk about reputation a
- 59:44lot in the game. And there's a guy in this in the
- 59:49town I live in who was really active and advocated, like went
- 59:54to City Hall and went to all the meetings and activated for like
- 59:58bike lanes and for stuff for bicyclists.
- 1:00:02And he's kind of like locally famous because he got the city
- 1:00:05to implement all these different bike lanes and bike stuff for
- 1:00:08bicyclists. So now he has such a.
- 1:00:12Good reputation around town that he always gets really good
- 1:00:16discounts at all the bike stores.
- 1:00:20That was his pencil. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:23So. CIG.
- 1:00:23Just use. That as a model.
- 1:00:27And, you know, let's. It's it happens.
- 1:00:29It's real though. It's it's even SIM like there's.
- 1:00:34Other games that have that if. You're aligned with certain
- 1:00:36factions. You get discounts for items that
- 1:00:38they produce, but that's another example of something they could.
- 1:00:41Have tied this investigation mission into right like give us
- 1:00:45a Rep as API and yeah, you can do like the first two missions
- 1:00:50and you have to leave the facility and this and that.
- 1:00:53You've got to get your Rep up. You know, you've got to be a
- 1:00:55level, you know you have to be a trusted Pi or something.
- 1:00:59And then all right now, now we know you, you've been vetted.
- 1:01:02We need you to go and actually get this hard drive that you
- 1:01:05can't just e-mail to us, but you've got to drop it at this
- 1:01:07location and stuff. Are we calling them hard drives?
- 1:01:11In the future, there's server blades.
- 1:01:14Is that what they're called I? Mean.
- 1:01:18You still call an SSDA hard drive still, right?
- 1:01:21I know, I know. I'm wondering.
- 1:01:22If that's how it's just going to be, we we still use the floppy.
- 1:01:25Disk save logo even though you know what was the last time
- 1:01:30someone used a floppy. Disk, right?
- 1:01:32You see that on all. Sorts of things.
- 1:01:34Literally, you hear? Stories of kids going wow, I
- 1:01:38found I found a physical model of a saved bio icon.
- 1:01:43You know you find a 300 floppy. Yeah.
- 1:01:46And and you still have. People film stuff.
- 1:01:49Things are on tape, you know? Yeah.
- 1:01:54It is funny watching shows like. Just just like, not that old,
- 1:01:58OK, they're kind of old, but I take Ghost in the show, for
- 1:02:01example. In fact, they still use like
- 1:02:03floppy disks in that it's just like, wow, OK, you've got
- 1:02:08cybernetic implants and you're using a flop.
- 1:02:12Those are just. Yeah.
- 1:02:15I mean. Star Trek the Original Series, I
- 1:02:18mean, they were like, Oh well, we have these data tapes and
- 1:02:21then they have these little plastic discs cards.
- 1:02:25And it was. A It was a major point of an
- 1:02:27episode that their computer was so sophisticated that it could
- 1:02:32it could detect and and and listen to sound.
- 1:02:38And it was. Like this whole?
- 1:02:39Thing and but we are so far beyond all of that stuff now,
- 1:02:46which is which is absolutely crazy.
- 1:02:48You know, who knows what'll what?
- 1:02:50What we're watching now that we think is really awesome but will
- 1:02:53be quaint in 20 years. Golly, phones.
- 1:02:57We're just going. To have implants or something.
- 1:02:59And it's like, why did you carry on a brick with?
- 1:03:02You all the time. It's like it was a phone.
- 1:03:05Remember when there were computers?
- 1:03:08Yeah. What's a computer you were
- 1:03:14saying, Anubis? It was when they still have
- 1:03:17electricity. A whole different timeline
- 1:03:24there. But but yeah, I had no other .0,
- 1:03:29OK. OK, OK, OK, OK.
- 1:03:33Did. Everyone answer that left that.
- 1:03:35Second question. No, I was just if we're calling
- 1:03:40them server blades in Star Citizen because we also have the
- 1:03:45Herald, which I think about now and again, and the MSR which are
- 1:03:51data running ships I don't think CIG thinks about.
- 1:03:54Them much? It looks like we can just run.
- 1:03:56Data on these little hard drives?
- 1:03:59Yeah, that's supposed to be a gameplay.
- 1:04:01Loop at some point is data running you.
- 1:04:04Know would have been. Data it.
- 1:04:07Would have been really cool. Then to require.
- 1:04:09Those ships just saying, right? Even if it gets you, we're gonna
- 1:04:14make it. Like we're gonna make it so
- 1:04:16that. Like you have a server blade
- 1:04:18that can only survive if it's in a data ship, Yeah, like it can't
- 1:04:22be out of a system for more than for more than 3 minutes or
- 1:04:26something, right? It overheats.
- 1:04:27It needs the. Cooling capacity and it's like
- 1:04:31OK. If you don't have.
- 1:04:32One get a friend. Yeah.
- 1:04:34To rent. One.
- 1:04:35Well, they. Just give you 1 like they did.
- 1:04:37You know, they used to give you a cuddy to do that mission on
- 1:04:39the rooftop. You'd go up and.
- 1:04:42Get the cuddy. Anyone know what I'm talking
- 1:04:44about? No.
- 1:04:45Oh yeah, no. It was.
- 1:04:49Yeah, it was. What's her face?
- 1:04:50One of the mission. Givers.
- 1:04:53She did that Lady. Yeah, you know the lady.
- 1:04:55Yeah. How long ago was this?
- 1:04:57Is this? Old man Star Citizen, not that
- 1:05:00old is is this. Star Citizen before.
- 1:05:02The PlayStation 42.7. Yeah.
- 1:05:07Those are the days. And Fritz Roberts was talking
- 1:05:11about. Star was still.
- 1:05:12Around OK. OK.
- 1:05:16But yeah. So they can do that.
- 1:05:17You know, they give you a ship, you know that you can.
- 1:05:21I think this was before hangers, I think.
- 1:05:22So obviously the complexity of, you know, can I store it and
- 1:05:26recall it? Is it gone there yet?
- 1:05:29But you had a ship that you were supposed to use for the mission.
- 1:05:31So they could do that now, like, oh, yeah, you got to go here.
- 1:05:34You got to get the Herald, you know, fly this location, get the
- 1:05:38data, pause it down on it because if.
- 1:05:41You if you wreck. It that's that's on.
- 1:05:43You and then I mean they could do the.
- 1:05:45Whole thing, right? You got to you got to go to the
- 1:05:47facility, get your way through, get the data, get, you know,
- 1:05:50upload it into the Herald or whatever.
- 1:05:53And then you have to fly the Herald through the jump point to
- 1:05:57Pyro, meet some shady dude, and you know he's going to he's
- 1:06:02going to take it. I like.
- 1:06:06I do like. Yeah, and I like Mingle's idea
- 1:06:09of you have to put it in that ship because when you know,
- 1:06:12insert lower reason here, it's like quantanium.
- 1:06:15You know, you have to send quantanium within a certain 25
- 1:06:19minutes or whatever to get refined.
- 1:06:21It's just like maybe it could be that the.
- 1:06:24The hard drive, which is what we're going to call it, that has
- 1:06:29like that has a a death time. On it for security.
- 1:06:33Reasons, right? The data can only because they
- 1:06:36don't want it to just be transferred from the to the
- 1:06:39Herald. They won't want someone to like
- 1:06:40knock you out, take the hard drive and then they've got it.
- 1:06:43So you've got to get it from the facility.
- 1:06:45You've got to get it into your data ship.
- 1:06:47It's downloaded now it's it's there and it's safe.
- 1:06:50And then when you get to a new facility, it's got to be
- 1:06:52transferred to a hard drive. You know, that way, you know, if
- 1:06:56the mission's not completed in time, like when the hard drive,
- 1:07:00then that data is gone. I love that.
- 1:07:03Love that. Idea.
- 1:07:04Oh. See you guys.
- 1:07:07All right, someone. Someone save this.
- 1:07:09Episode. Send it to CIG. e-mail Benoit if
- 1:07:13you're listening. Yeah, e-mail Jared.
- 1:07:18That's a free idea, Jared. Free idea.
- 1:07:24We've solved the data. Problem.
- 1:07:25Next one. Comes at a fee though.
- 1:07:27So oh, you're what's? The speed on the.
- 1:07:31On the on the ships, on the on the like on the Mantis, what's
- 1:07:36its top speed? Because when you think.
- 1:07:39About data running, it's. Like how is data running even
- 1:07:42possibly going to work with the system we have now?
- 1:07:45If a mantis and can lock down and and MSR?
- 1:07:49If it's faster than the MSR there ain't no way.
- 1:07:52Well, the MSR and the are ever. Going to get away.
- 1:07:55Yeah, but those are supposed to be two of the.
- 1:07:57Fastest ships? Yeah, but both of them?
- 1:07:59The Herald. 'S just basically an.
- 1:08:00Engine with a a wheel on it. So I would say the Herald could
- 1:08:04probably get. Away and I think the idea of the
- 1:08:06MSR is maybe it can fight its way out as well so.
- 1:08:12I mean you. Know obviously not in the state.
- 1:08:14It's in, but they gotta work. But theoretically it could take
- 1:08:17out a mantis. I think I should better take out
- 1:08:23a mantis. Right now.
- 1:08:24With the MSR I think. Mantises are too tough.
- 1:08:28I think the idea of both of them is that.
- 1:08:30They're going to be able to collect data as well, you know,
- 1:08:34that goes into the exploration. I'd like to see.
- 1:08:36A lot of that, yeah. Exploration ships in.
- 1:08:40General. Have upgraded computers, so like
- 1:08:43the 400 I the care. They've got better computers to
- 1:08:46start with, but you've got that. You've got that trade off if you
- 1:08:49want to use your computer for data, data storage.
- 1:08:53Data storage. Damn.
- 1:08:55Damn in the data. Storage or do you want to use it
- 1:08:59for scanning or research or whatever?
- 1:09:05And I think that's where the speed of.
- 1:09:06The data wireless comes in right, They're built to just get
- 1:09:09that data from one spot to the other as fast as possible,
- 1:09:14whereas. You know the the.
- 1:09:15Cataracts built to be out there collecting data, analyzing, you
- 1:09:20know, surviving for long periods of time.
- 1:09:24I feel like the way you're. Describing it.
- 1:09:26Is exploration ships are going to kind of be Jack of all trade.
- 1:09:30They can go far, they're pretty fast, They can scan, they can
- 1:09:34collect data, but they can probably do everything, you
- 1:09:36know, kind of. I think that's the idea for
- 1:09:38sure. Yeah.
- 1:09:39And then compared to the. The ships that specialize in
- 1:09:42those very specific things, right?
- 1:09:45Yeah. The other.
- 1:09:46Characters is the Enterprise right supposed to be out there?
- 1:09:49Five year mission, exploring new worlds, new civilizations, and
- 1:09:55then shooting the ones you don't like and boldly go may the
- 1:09:58force. Be with them all exactly.
- 1:10:01Always. Wow.
- 1:10:05Indeed. Indeed.
- 1:10:06So say we all. So am I.
- 1:10:08The only one I I. Prefer the cargo mission.
- 1:10:11Oh wow. Oh yeah, I was going to say
- 1:10:12every. Everybody said ASD, but I'm
- 1:10:15dude, I'm with you now and so. This was one of the few of these
- 1:10:21new missions things that I've put in a lot of time too.
- 1:10:24And there were a couple of reasons that one it's you don't
- 1:10:28have. To complete it in one sitting.
- 1:10:30And as someone who's procreated possibly more than they should
- 1:10:34have, you know, I, I don't always have as much time to play
- 1:10:37as I'd like. So I like that I could come in,
- 1:10:39I could, you know, do one or two runs, you know, 20-40 minutes.
- 1:10:44And I made progress towards my overall goal.
- 1:10:48And I usually don't like grindy things.
- 1:10:50Like I didn't love necessarily the mission that I was doing,
- 1:10:54but I liked that I was able to come and like do it and come
- 1:10:58back and go. And I also liked the I was in it
- 1:11:03for the paints. I mean, I'm not, I'm not as big
- 1:11:06on the FPS side of the game. Part of that I feel like, you
- 1:11:11know, a server is always janky when I'm trying to do it and
- 1:11:13it's frustrating. But I wanted I wanted stuff for
- 1:11:17my ships. You know, the game it's it's a
- 1:11:20lot of it is about the spaceships.
- 1:11:22And I just love the fact that I was going to get paints.
- 1:11:25Now, if my dreams were really met, the paints would no longer
- 1:11:28physical items that I had to be in my home hanger and have, but
- 1:11:35that's another story entirely. But yeah, that's that was why I
- 1:11:38kind of preferred it. And again, I wasn't, I didn't
- 1:11:43have to just, I didn't have to dissell.
- 1:11:46My my. Belief and going to the same
- 1:11:49facilities over and over and stuff like it was just no I'm
- 1:11:52guy I've got a ship and I'm hauling cargo and that worked
- 1:11:57for me within you know the realism of the game yeah I.
- 1:12:04Like, I like that. I like how the narrative.
- 1:12:05Makes sense for me that it. Means a lot to me.
- 1:12:09That the narrative because I like I really like these ASD
- 1:12:12missions I do not like that it's 120 of them because.
- 1:12:18This, I mean star students. Is about immersion.
- 1:12:20Right. I mean, if there's one thing
- 1:12:21that keeps me coming back to this game year after year and
- 1:12:25and spending so much time on it is it just feels different,
- 1:12:31right? When I'm playing Call of Duty or
- 1:12:35Halo or something, I mean, I'm just, I'm playing a game, I'm
- 1:12:37running around, I'm shooting stuff.
- 1:12:40But when you're in Star Citizen, I mean, you're, I'm, I'm the
- 1:12:42dude, I'm the dude that's flying the ship, you know, I'm the guy
- 1:12:45that's, that's walking around. I'm moving boxes.
- 1:12:48It's, it's me and they're doing that stuff.
- 1:12:52So that's why like you said, I I do value that a lot.
- 1:12:59Yeah, and and I'm going to ask out that chick.
- 1:13:01From from our Corp next time I talk to her.
- 1:13:06Oh yeah, she's. She's a cutie.
- 1:13:08They, they know my type. She's like.
- 1:13:11Hey, what you doing my? And I'm like, what are you
- 1:13:14doing? What she was.
- 1:13:20Like I thought she was kind of a punk chick, but apparently she's
- 1:13:24like an Australian mobster. I pictured an eyebrow ring.
- 1:13:30Oh yeah, there's definitely an eyebrow ring.
- 1:13:31That's that goes without saying, little purple.
- 1:13:35Little purple highlights. In the hair, maybe, but she's
- 1:13:37still, you know, she's still dressed for.
- 1:13:39Work though, you know. Where'd you get?
- 1:13:41Is she sending you pics? Yeah, you don't get pics.
- 1:13:45I haven't gotten any pics. I haven't.
- 1:13:46Asked but I'm going to tier 5 first and.
- 1:13:49Then. Yeah, he he couldn't get to Tier
- 1:13:525. On his own.
- 1:13:53Maybe that's why she didn't send it to him.
- 1:13:54Secret Tier 6. Oh, Ouch.
- 1:13:58Ouch. It's true, but it still hurts.
- 1:14:00Brandy hurts because it's true. Probably.
- 1:14:03Yeah, I hope. I hope.
- 1:14:04The same. Sentiment can be said to Chris
- 1:14:07Roberts and CIG that. When we say things that are
- 1:14:10true. Maybe it hurts a little bit, but
- 1:14:13that's why. Because it's true.
- 1:14:15We only say it because we care. Too, Yeah.
- 1:14:20But then again, that's the same thing that like.
- 1:14:21My mother says to me and I'm like, Oh no, you don't have to
- 1:14:24say it Stuff, though. Well, it's because.
- 1:14:26I care, all right. How do you feel about this?
- 1:14:31The. Show today Duke, I feel.
- 1:14:34I feel pretty. Good, pretty good.
- 1:14:36We we didn't. We have no.
- 1:14:37We didn't. We didn't talk about our sponsor
- 1:14:39at all though. Oh, we didn't talk about our.
- 1:14:41Sponsor at all? Anubis, do we have our sponsor
- 1:14:45today? Do we hold on, let.
- 1:14:49Me let me look at notepad here. We should, we should really put
- 1:15:00some you can. Do you can do the zone?
- 1:15:02You can do the zone. Hopefully it's ready by now.
- 1:15:05Come on, I'm happy. We both did it, Yeah, had some
- 1:15:07good. Royalty free music.
- 1:15:10That's the best one. Wow, OK.
- 1:15:18Let's see if you don't have it. We've got some wordy shit, but.
- 1:15:22You know that doesn't help. OK, give me.
- 1:15:25Can you give me two? Lines 'cause they they only they
- 1:15:29only yeah, they only purchase like 5 seconds, 4 seconds, but
- 1:15:33I'm. Generous.
- 1:15:35All right, well. You know Volt.
- 1:15:39Is a wonderful. Company, because in times gone
- 1:15:42by, the trusty Taser was on your side.
- 1:15:45With Volt, it's on everyone's side and the walls and your team
- 1:15:48mates. Next time you're in a contested
- 1:15:50zone, show them that what unlimited power truly means with
- 1:15:54Volt's line of electric more than lethal wireless devices
- 1:15:59available at Walmart, hey? Well done you.
- 1:16:03Mean. You mean Kelter?
- 1:16:04You had it? Yeah.
- 1:16:07It's. You got to find the Walmart.
- 1:16:11Yeah, it's exciting to know that Walmart.
- 1:16:12Still exists. Oh it it will it.
- 1:16:15Will Oh yeah, when the earth is just a single.
- 1:16:17Rock floating in space. There'll be a pristine Walmart
- 1:16:20stuck on top of it somehow. There's a pristine Walmart.
- 1:16:26There's a jump. Point to.
- 1:16:28The Walmart, the Walmart system in every single star system and
- 1:16:32it just somehow that worked out. All jump points lead to
- 1:16:36Arkansas. Yeah, Oh, my goodness.
- 1:16:42All right. Well at the end of the show
- 1:16:44mingle. This was your first episode, so
- 1:16:46you may or may not know this and by the end of every.
- 1:16:50Episode I go around. And I ask everybody if they have
- 1:16:53something like to say to CIG Chris Roberts for the people on
- 1:16:57the Internet, we tend to go to go backwards.
- 1:17:00So, Minglewood, is there anything you'd like to say to
- 1:17:01CIG, Chris Roberts, or the people on the Internet?
- 1:17:10Mingle. Yeah, I'm sorry.
- 1:17:13I'm. Just.
- 1:17:15I'm just thinking do do. Do do do do do do.
- 1:17:21Yeah, I don't I don't I. Don't know man, just a touch
- 1:17:26grass. That's what I want to say.
- 1:17:28That's what I'm talking about. Summer's.
- 1:17:30Almost over. Touch.
- 1:17:32Grass. There you go going.
- 1:17:34To rain tomorrow. Dogs pooing.
- 1:17:36Grass. All right, all right.
- 1:17:40I guess Lord Anubis is. Next, Lord Anubis.
- 1:17:46Yeah, we'll do. Anubis.
- 1:17:47Anubis. Anything else they say Aggie
- 1:17:48'cause wrappers with people on Internet, dogs, poo and grass.
- 1:17:53Sage. All right.
- 1:17:54Was that to Chris? Roberts or the Internet?
- 1:17:57Oh yeah. That was to Chris Roberts.
- 1:18:02OK, Yeah, yeah. Broccoli.
- 1:18:05Rob, is there anything? You'd like to say to CIG, Chris?
- 1:18:07Roberts or the people? On the Internet.
- 1:18:10Yeah, keep doing these exploration.
- 1:18:13Missions. I think they're great.
- 1:18:15I really like story content. I think it's a necessary thing
- 1:18:19for the universe and people on the Internet.
- 1:18:22Something I just saw buy some ships with Tier 2 medical beds.
- 1:18:28That's it, boy. What do you what do you mean?
- 1:18:31What do you see that's. A whole.
- 1:18:34Other yeah, they they updated. Some medical.
- 1:18:38Beds stuff tier threes are not not going to let you respond
- 1:18:43anymore Soon we're getting ready to put to release the the.
- 1:18:48Apollo, that's positive. Get get hype for Apollo, get
- 1:18:53hype for. Apollo, I'm hype.
- 1:18:54Tour. So what ships have Tier 2 beds?
- 1:18:58Does the Cutlass have tier? Two, I think so.
- 1:19:01Sure it doesn't, no. The Cutty red it's not.
- 1:19:05It's tier 3. What about the Ursa?
- 1:19:09The Rover? Nope, that's the.
- 1:19:12Funniest one? It does not good.
- 1:19:15That's all I. Really care about.
- 1:19:19That was good. That was good information.
- 1:19:20Broccoli. Rob, you were holding out on us.
- 1:19:22Yeah. I I just saw it.
- 1:19:25I just everyone. Check Reddit, I saw it earlier.
- 1:19:28And I didn't want to bring it up.
- 1:19:32How about Yeah, sorry last week? Yeah, what the heck?
- 1:19:35Just. Came out like this week.
- 1:19:37I think are you trying? To are you trying?
- 1:19:39To sabotage? No, no, no.
- 1:19:41I was saving sabotage Duke show I was.
- 1:19:44Saving it for more contests. For the next.
- 1:19:47Episode yeah listen all the. Next episode will be.
- 1:19:51Spicy. Listen all y'all, it's a
- 1:19:53sabotage. All right, Cosmic hobo.
- 1:20:00Anything you want to say to CIG, Chris Roberts, or the people on
- 1:20:02the Internet? Use these ASD facilities as.
- 1:20:07Foundations for. Future bunker designs and please
- 1:20:13make the. Current bunkers.
- 1:20:16Way more, better add fours. Add more to them.
- 1:20:20They're oldest shit. And randomness.
- 1:20:22Little bit of randomness. Yeah, bunker missions.
- 1:20:25I'm not usually one for procedural.
- 1:20:27Stuff too much, but those bunker missions perfect candidate for
- 1:20:32for procedural generation. They have next to no story of
- 1:20:37any kind, and aren't they're they're not good in their
- 1:20:41current form. They need to be.
- 1:20:42Procedural generation is impossible in a space game.
- 1:20:45No one's ever done it. Before are you?
- 1:20:50What are you? Are you trying to start
- 1:20:52something or what's going on here?
- 1:20:53Are you triggering me? You make you make me want to
- 1:20:56play Elite Dangerous. You you want to?
- 1:20:58Fight you want you. Want to fight?
- 1:21:01I'll fight all. Y'all Speaking of speaking?
- 1:21:04Of fights. Speaking of fights, we are going
- 1:21:06to have a bar. Citizen in DC for a citizen con
- 1:21:09direct. Oh yeah, I'll make that my
- 1:21:11thing. My my message to everyone.
- 1:21:14Is that go to your local bar citizen?
- 1:21:18And if you're on the East Coast, well you have like 2 options.
- 1:21:22So Congrats, you have Jersey, you have DC.
- 1:21:27I am not sure of any others that are hosting a live stream on the
- 1:21:32anywhere east of the Mississippi that is.
- 1:21:35Yeah, if you're on the West. Coast apparently FU.
- 1:21:41There's no bar citizens, so drink alone in your room.
- 1:21:46You leave Anubis. You got to set that up next
- 1:21:49year, actually, hopefully we're physically.
- 1:21:51Drinking, drinking alone in my room.
- 1:21:54Yeah, yeah. Just plan.
- 1:21:56Ahead. Well.
- 1:21:58When I play with you guys, I drink and it's basically.
- 1:22:01The same as drinking alone. Yeah, next year, next year I
- 1:22:05expect to be playing. Squadron 40. 2 with Mark Hamill.
- 1:22:08Can you just grab him over? He's going to like no at at
- 1:22:14Citizen Khan. 2026. Anything less than that will be
- 1:22:19unacceptable. Thought you knew?
- 1:22:20Him and. Also, well, sorry I'll false
- 1:22:23alarm. On the medical treatment thing,
- 1:22:25it's it's. Not a real thing.
- 1:22:26It wasn't even true. Forget that said anything.
- 1:22:28Yeah, I was looking that up. I wanted to look it up just to
- 1:22:32be sure. It's outdated, more outdated.
- 1:22:36It was like 2 minutes ago and. Anyone that had to leave the
- 1:22:39show. Like 2 minutes ago is now
- 1:22:41walking. Out into the world with false
- 1:22:43information, Yeah, it's great. They're going to go to 1000
- 1:22:45people. They're going to learn COG.
- 1:22:49Where open comms? Radio.
- 1:22:52They told. Me the latest.
- 1:22:55Told me the latest CIG is going to nerf all the Med bits.
- 1:22:57No, we trained to. AI with bad info the.
- 1:23:01AIS that listen to us, they're going to have bad.
- 1:23:03Info. Look, we don't need you to
- 1:23:05comment on the video. On YouTube, we.
- 1:23:09Just need you to go on the spectrum, tell them spectrum
- 1:23:13like my wife's on the spectrum, we go on.
- 1:23:16This you know what I. Mean I have spectrum mobile.
- 1:23:20You tell them. That you want the the.
- 1:23:23Medical beds. You don't want those tier threes
- 1:23:25to respawn bodies anymore, yeah? I know, I know, like and it's
- 1:23:33not. You heard it here.
- 1:23:34On open comms. Radio it.
- 1:23:37It's not capable of like like. Repairing a.
- 1:23:40A gaping chest wound but you know it can just resin print you
- 1:23:45an entirely new body. What the hell is that?
- 1:23:48Shit does not make sense. There isn't even enough room in
- 1:23:51like. Danersa to have the goo
- 1:23:54necessary to print out a new me. And I'm not even a big guy.
- 1:23:58That's got to be such an easy addition too.
- 1:24:02That's got to be just like they just fucking change zero to A1
- 1:24:07somewhere. I know I'm sounding stupid, but
- 1:24:10that can't be like a difficult. Implementation.
- 1:24:12To like these. Beds responding when these beds
- 1:24:14don't well, can I, can I say I mean, this is this is the
- 1:24:17perplexing thing is. That they control all the
- 1:24:21dynamics in this game. And it doesn't make any sense to
- 1:24:25me that they don't have dynamic mission making, that they don't
- 1:24:29have, you know, modular facilities that could just be
- 1:24:35rearranged. I mean.
- 1:24:36The the the stations don't even really have any variety that it
- 1:24:41doesn't really make sense talking about the inside of the
- 1:24:45stations that. Was a modular test.
- 1:24:49That's that is modularity there there are different.
- 1:24:51Modules they use there and I think what they found there was
- 1:24:54that it didn't deliver. You know, it was supposed to be
- 1:24:57this thing like they were just going to give it a few
- 1:24:59parameters and it was going to create all these internal spaces
- 1:25:04and it didn't. They tried it and they said, you
- 1:25:06know, it just, it was not good enough, which I appreciate.
- 1:25:09I mean, if they did it and they were like this kind of looks
- 1:25:11like shit, then that's fine. Scrap it, you know, move on, do
- 1:25:16something different. But the but the fact that they
- 1:25:19don't have their own themes, you know that they don't.
- 1:25:21Have their own, you know, kind of true.
- 1:25:26It doesn't really make any sense because they've had 12.
- 1:25:29Years. These are not hard things that
- 1:25:32they they can just simply change textures.
- 1:25:35They could just simply change a little something, you know, just
- 1:25:39a just a tiny bit. You know, they don't need to
- 1:25:41change much because the outside of the stations are different.
- 1:25:45Yeah, well, the. Argument can be made that they
- 1:25:48are. Themed.
- 1:25:49They're all themed. As.
- 1:25:50Rough and Ready, which is the company that makes the space
- 1:25:53stations. True, Yeah, but I mean, you
- 1:25:57know, rest and. Relax.
- 1:25:59Yeah, rest and relax, I said. Rough.
- 1:26:01And ready you. Said rough and ready just.
- 1:26:03Rest, rest and relax. Thank.
- 1:26:05You. I mean.
- 1:26:06Even then, the only thing we have different is grim hacks.
- 1:26:09Which is is really cool, but there should be more variety
- 1:26:14around everything. You know, the fact that
- 1:26:17everything's pretty much just a a close clone to each other, it
- 1:26:21doesn't really quite make sense. You know, you would think that
- 1:26:25you know, out out out near Microtech, they have a different
- 1:26:28quite. You know little.
- 1:26:29Little decoration, you know difference in in culture and you
- 1:26:35know the NPCS that you'll see. You know, different foods, but
- 1:26:41it's just. Power changes.
- 1:26:42That time. I I.
- 1:26:46I can. See why if we had multiple
- 1:26:48systems, I. Would agree with that, but we're
- 1:26:50talking Corporatopia here. We've lived in Corporatopia for
- 1:26:5510 years and of course it would all look very similar.
- 1:26:58It's Corporatopia, but Everest Harbor should not look exactly
- 1:27:02like Seraphim Station. Yeah.
- 1:27:04I mean it's corporate, but they very different.
- 1:27:06I think that actually. Makes the argument that they
- 1:27:09should look different because these corporations just like the
- 1:27:13real life corporations, right? They put so much efforts and
- 1:27:17money into establishing their brand and their structure and
- 1:27:21and convincing people to be. Loyal to that.
- 1:27:24I mean, I'm walking around to am I wearing?
- 1:27:27I've probably got like a Patagonia shirt, you know?
- 1:27:31And why, why why do I have? That because they've.
- 1:27:34Tied their brand into certain things that I bought into and I
- 1:27:38bought the shirt and it. It doesn't take much to change
- 1:27:42these things to just spice. It up, add a little bit of
- 1:27:45culture, make the make the Galaxy seem a little bigger.
- 1:27:50Yeah. I mean, I think that's an
- 1:27:51inflammatory comment. Come on.
- 1:27:53I will, yeah, I think, I think saying whenever somebody says
- 1:27:56it's easy to do. Something like that.
- 1:27:58It's just. It's just make, just make the
- 1:28:00game, you know, just just make the game.
- 1:28:02Why haven't? They made the game yet?
- 1:28:04Why isn't that 1.0 yet? I do think.
- 1:28:06That. Oh God, no, no, go ahead.
- 1:28:11I. Think that well, low orbital
- 1:28:14stations. Should look like the landing
- 1:28:16zones, but I think that LaGrange points and like the random space
- 1:28:19stations. I think being rough and ready
- 1:28:23Jesus Christ be rest and relax. What's going on should is
- 1:28:27extremely too much time in pyro with just being like hey we.
- 1:28:32Need some space? Stations out here, can the space
- 1:28:35station company come out and do those?
- 1:28:36It's like, yeah, sure. Here you go.
- 1:28:38Here's a bunch of space stations and they're rest and relax
- 1:28:42because that's what we do, right?
- 1:28:44I mean, I, I see that. I agree with that.
- 1:28:47Maybe one day. We'll get alternatives.
- 1:28:50Maybe we will get a rough and ready space station.
- 1:28:54Wonder what that would look like.
- 1:28:55They already have heart rate. Checkmate Station.
- 1:29:00Yeah, the. Rough and ready is just because
- 1:29:04they saw the. R and the R from rest and relax
- 1:29:06and became Co opted yeah that's. What Pyro does, yeah.
- 1:29:12They should mess up. Land.
- 1:29:14I'd like to see an R Corp station.
- 1:29:16They have an. Ecumenopolis, but their space
- 1:29:18station. Is is the rest and relax right?
- 1:29:21Like what I feel? I feel like there's so much
- 1:29:23missing from from R Corp. They should be.
- 1:29:26A much bigger, a much bigger deal.
- 1:29:29I mean, they can cover a whole planet in a city.
- 1:29:31I do like yeah, I do like your point having whatever is in
- 1:29:34orbit of R Corp. Also be themed to R Corp.
- 1:29:37Yeah, yeah. It's, it's, it's, it's in, it's
- 1:29:40Trantor. I mean like.
- 1:29:44Yeah, I think that's a cool enough ask.
- 1:29:46And I and you can have some mixed, you know.
- 1:29:48Depending on what the corporation is, I get it.
- 1:29:51I mean, even textures like like it it it's.
- 1:29:56It it, you know, it doesn't sound like much in the span of
- 1:30:00time that they've all looked the same.
- 1:30:04True. Hey guys.
- 1:30:05I got to slide. Off the couch.
- 1:30:06Thanks for having me. Yeah.
- 1:30:08We're going to end the show right here.
- 1:30:09Thank you, Mingle. Thank you for coming in.
- 1:30:11First time caller Minglewood. Good friend, always there to
- 1:30:15help. So.
- 1:30:18Duke. Yes, Duke, we did it.
- 1:30:22We did it. I.
- 1:30:24Did it first. Time we did it.
- 1:30:27Very special thank you to. Lord.
- 1:30:29Nubis Cosmic Hobo Brock the Rob. Minglewood for calling in.
- 1:30:37How'd it go, Duke? I think it went well.
- 1:30:40I feel good. All right.
- 1:30:43You want to play us out? No, that's that's kind of.
- 1:30:49That's part of the stick. Part of the job description I
- 1:30:54didn't. Read that part What do I?
- 1:30:56Play, I don't know what. Just play it.
- 1:30:57Just play. Us out, man.
