What to Do When Pursuing My Passion Feels Risky? · Intuitive Coaching with Amy Radio

  Speaker 1: and metaphysical wisdom. So the question is what do I

  Speaker 1: do when pursuing my passion feels risky. I've done some
• 0:24
  Speaker 1: shows recently on pursuing passion, and I think I summed
• 0:27
  Speaker 1: a lot of this up, but I'll put it here.

  Speaker 1: I'm a woman who has pursued her passions for her
• 0:34
  Speaker 1: a very long time and it being my job, and
• 0:39
  Speaker 1: so I can get the risky. I don't know what
• 0:42
  Speaker 1: risk the question is rooted in, but my first thought
• 0:46
  Speaker 1: was financial risk, and then I will talk about like
• 0:50
  Speaker 1: the risk of being seen, so financial risk, and I
• 0:57
  Speaker 1: think this is important to know. We have no idea
• 1:02
  Speaker 1: when whatever it is that we're up to is going
• 1:05
  Speaker 1: to pay off, and so you have to look at
• 1:07
  Speaker 1: everything that you do. It will add up and it
• 1:10
  Speaker 1: will lead to cash money at some point, and you
• 1:15
  Speaker 1: have to see it as a paycheck waiting to be cashed.

  Speaker 1: So and I learned this from an author not that
• 1:24
  Speaker 1: long ago, and I wish I had this mindset before.
• 1:27
  Speaker 1: So you really have to trust your intuition and be
• 1:31
  Speaker 1: really honest with yourself about does this look like an
• 1:34
  Speaker 1: immediate paycheck for me? And it doesn't mean you don't
• 1:38
  Speaker 1: pursue it, because if it's on your heart to pursue it,
• 1:41
  Speaker 1: it's right, and the timing is right to pursue it.
• 1:45
  Speaker 1: You just have to balance. You have to be balanced
• 1:48
  Speaker 1: and reasonable in how long you take to do it,
• 1:54
  Speaker 1: how much you invest in doing it, and how much
• 1:57
  Speaker 1: energy you exert. Because the other piece, so this is
• 2:00
  Speaker 1: if you think, you know, if you're really sensing the
• 2:03
  Speaker 1: payoff on it's a little bit further than what you
• 2:07
  Speaker 1: need in the immediate, then you have to have enough
• 2:12
  Speaker 1: gas in the tank, right, enough energy within you so
• 2:16
  Speaker 1: that you can go and do whatever you need to
• 2:18
  Speaker 1: do for money, immediate money, right, and so so and
• 2:31
  Speaker 1: vice versa. That's the piece I want to go with
• 2:33
  Speaker 1: because what just flash was a quote from Daniel Laporte
• 2:36
  Speaker 1: about energy and exerting yourself. So Danielaporte says, if you're
• 2:43
  Speaker 1: in a job right now and you're wanting to start
• 2:46
  Speaker 1: a business, she said this in the fire starter sessions,
• 2:49
  Speaker 1: you're going to have to pull back to like eighty
• 2:51
  Speaker 1: percent seventy percent. I have some clients they've been doing
• 2:56
  Speaker 1: their job so long, and they're so good at their
• 2:58
  Speaker 1: job that they can go back to twenty five percent
• 3:00
  Speaker 1: and still be wildly effective. And then that gives them
• 3:03
  Speaker 1: seventy five percent of their energetic resource to go and
• 3:08
  Speaker 1: do the business, to grow the business, to grow the passion,
• 3:12
  Speaker 1: if you will. And this can be really challenging. This
• 3:18
  Speaker 1: balancing of energy can be really challenging for people who
• 3:22
  Speaker 1: overfunction and overdo. But you're already exerting way more energy
• 3:28
  Speaker 1: than you need to, So you gotta really you have
• 3:31
  Speaker 1: enough energy to start the business. You just have to
• 3:36
  Speaker 1: be again be honest with yourself about does this really
• 3:41
  Speaker 1: require this must exertion? And oftentimes it's just thought. We
• 3:45
  Speaker 1: don't realize how much our thinking can deplete us because
• 3:49
  Speaker 1: thinking triggers feelings, and feelings get going in the body,
• 3:53
  Speaker 1: and then it does it does affect us, right, And
• 4:00
  Speaker 1: so you might be overthinking some project you can do
• 4:04
  Speaker 1: in ten minutes, maybe overthinking it for three days. Well
• 4:08
  Speaker 1: that was three days you could have been working on
• 4:11
  Speaker 1: your passion. So you really have to be one more
• 4:14
  Speaker 1: time honest with yourself about how much energy you're exerting
• 4:17
  Speaker 1: and where, and then and then you can find that, oh,
• 4:23
  Speaker 1: I can see where I can take risk to pursue
• 4:26
  Speaker 1: this thing. So paycheck waiting to be cash. You don't
• 4:32
  Speaker 1: know when the money's going to come back, but you
• 4:35
  Speaker 1: do have your intuition and if something's on your heart
• 4:40
  Speaker 1: to do it and be aware of you know, sometimes
• 4:46
  Speaker 1: we logically know, like if I'm doing a book launch
• 4:50
  Speaker 1: or if I'm starting a manuscript, I always set my
• 4:52
  Speaker 1: release date and then I know the earliest I would
• 4:56
  Speaker 1: see money from this book is, you know, given the
• 5:00
  Speaker 1: payment cycle for the retailers, right, so sixty days from
• 5:04
  Speaker 1: the date of release or sixty days from the sale right.
• 5:09
  Speaker 1: I say day of release because you know, there's usually
• 5:12
  Speaker 1: a lot more sales activity around a release date. And
• 5:16
  Speaker 1: so then I can gauge how much I'm going to
• 5:18
  Speaker 1: spend the way I'm going to spend it to determine
• 5:24
  Speaker 1: not if I'm not going to do it, I've already
• 5:26
  Speaker 1: decided I'm going to do it right. And you have
• 5:28
  Speaker 1: to really want something and you have to really be
• 5:32
  Speaker 1: passionate about that thing and love it, and then you
• 5:37
  Speaker 1: can gauge how to use your resources, particularly your cash,
• 5:44
  Speaker 1: money and your body or your credit. If you're you know,
• 5:49
  Speaker 1: say you're going to finance it. So I hope that helps.

  Speaker 1: Now the risk of being seen, well, if you're pursuing
• 5:57
  Speaker 1: a passion that requires you to be seen in order
• 6:00
  Speaker 1: for that thing to be monetized, you got to go
• 6:03
  Speaker 1: ahead and get over the idea that it's risky to
• 6:08
  Speaker 1: be seen. It wouldn't be on your heart to do
• 6:11
  Speaker 1: something that requires eyeballs on you if it wasn't meant
• 6:17
  Speaker 1: for you to do it. And so just get over
• 6:19
  Speaker 1: the belief that it's going to be risky. Surround yourself
• 6:23
  Speaker 1: in a blanket of protection, believe that you know, if
• 6:26
  Speaker 1: you're doing something online, that the online space is peaceful
• 6:29
  Speaker 1: and safe for you, The online space is peaceful and
• 6:32
  Speaker 1: safe for you, and then get going. So there's no
• 6:40
  Speaker 1: risk in being seen if that's what's required of whatever
• 6:47
  Speaker 1: passion you're pursuing. And most of us have to be
• 6:50
  Speaker 1: seen for us to monetize a passion, right, So, and
• 6:56
  Speaker 1: I can understand, Oh, maybe I'm afraid of judge or
• 7:00
  Speaker 1: criticism or rejection. I mean that's par for the course, right,
• 7:05
  Speaker 1: And there will always be someone who doesn't get the thing,
• 7:10
  Speaker 1: you know, because I've said this before on the program
• 7:14
  Speaker 1: My second business, which I start, well, after this one
• 7:20
  Speaker 1: is a book business. I write and publish romance novels
• 7:25
  Speaker 1: and I and so I'll often read, you know, even
• 7:29
  Speaker 1: as I'm looking for a romance, I'll read some reviews
• 7:32
  Speaker 1: and I'll be like, what book did they read? Right?
• 7:36
  Speaker 1: And I have reviews for my books where I'm like,
• 7:38
  Speaker 1: what book did they read? That was not in the book?
• 7:41
  Speaker 1: You're always going to get something like that, right though,
• 7:46
  Speaker 1: my spear guits are jumping in. They're saying, because there's
• 7:50
  Speaker 1: a woman that have been following for years business coach,
• 7:55
  Speaker 1: I know she holds the energy of what is allowed
• 8:00
  Speaker 1: in her world, and her reviews reflect that. And so
• 8:07
  Speaker 1: you can hold the energy that you're not going to
• 8:09
  Speaker 1: get that whack and do person who's writing about a
• 8:13
  Speaker 1: book that wasn't there, Right, They've made up some story
• 8:16
  Speaker 1: about the book, and right, you can definitely hold the
• 8:19
  Speaker 1: energy that you're not a match to that type of consumer,
• 8:22
  Speaker 1: and you're available for people who genuinely love the work.
• 8:28
  Speaker 1: You can hold that in advance and believe that to
• 8:31
  Speaker 1: be true, and then that is what you will attract.
• 8:36
  Speaker 1: So I pray this was helpful. There is no risk
• 8:40
  Speaker 1: in pursuing a passion if you are reasonable and you
• 8:45
  Speaker 1: know that's not a word I often use on this program,
• 8:47
  Speaker 1: but reasonable as it relates to productivity, your energy essentially,
• 8:54
  Speaker 1: if you do it in a balance centered way, if
• 8:57
  Speaker 1: you do it in a conscious, aware way, stop and
• 9:00
  Speaker 1: you have quiet reflection and you get clear about what
• 9:03
  Speaker 1: you want. If you return to a place of stillness
• 9:06
  Speaker 1: as you're making decisions and trust, trust that the answer
• 9:12
  Speaker 1: is within you and that it's accurate. Right. If you're
• 9:19
  Speaker 1: sensing yes, this is going to be profitable, that's true,
• 9:25
  Speaker 1: trust that that's true, while recognizing you have no idea
• 9:29
  Speaker 1: how and when it's all going to come together and
• 9:32
  Speaker 1: in what form it's going to come together. So stay
• 9:37
  Speaker 1: open and stay aware, focus on your desired result and
• 9:42
  Speaker 1: not your fear. That's the other way you can manage risk.

  Speaker 1: I think people people either don't take enough risk because
• 9:51
  Speaker 1: of fear, or they take too much risk because they're
• 9:54
  Speaker 1: feeling fear and they think they just have to bet
• 9:56
  Speaker 1: the farm, and neither of those really work. So stay

  Speaker 1: focus on what your desired result is in pursuing your passion,
• 10:04
  Speaker 1: and you will find that you win every time. You
• 10:07
  Speaker 1: win every time, and if you have a lot of
• 10:09
  Speaker 1: ideas beautiful, do them all. Do them all while again
• 10:13
  Speaker 1: respecting this model of paycheck waiting to be cash. You
• 10:18
  Speaker 1: don't know the date it's going to actually end up
• 10:21
  Speaker 1: as cash money. You're going to need to be balanced,
• 10:24
  Speaker 1: meaning you might have to exert energy over here so
• 10:28
  Speaker 1: that you can either bring in money or complete something.
• 10:36
  Speaker 1: And my stircuits are jumping in right now. It's just
• 10:40
  Speaker 1: you got to be mature. You got to be energetically mature,
• 10:45
  Speaker 1: and that can be tough. And that's why I do
• 10:47
  Speaker 1: the work I do, and that's why I create a

  Speaker 1: sacred space where you can have conversations like this so

  Speaker 1: you know, like, Okay, this is the best path for me,

  Speaker 1: and this is the next right step for me, and

  Speaker 1: this is the best toacision for me because I get it.

  Speaker 1: I get it. I know it all makes sense as

  Speaker 1: I'm saying it to you here on this show. But
