• 0:01
[rock music] Yeah. [laughs] That's, that's what this needed. Right.
• 0:18
[laughs] King Diamond coming to town. Hey, everybody. Yes. [laughs] Where's he coming to? Uh, the High Life Theater, I think. Oh, okay. As long as it's not Shank. Oh, hell no. Get out of...
• 0:33
It, it, it's, uh, Full Spectrum Cycling, folks. This is number 266. We're only 400 away from the Devil's podcast. Oh. Oh, yeah. Gotta stick around. We can do it. Stick around. We can do it. Yeah, we got Tony. Mm-hmm.
• 0:47
Got JK. Carol's reading the newspaper. [laughs] I'm Sven, and, uh, this is, again, the Full Spectrum Cycling thing we do here. Uh, I haven't seen King Diamond ever, I don't think. [laughs] I...
• 1:04
Familiar with, but haven't- Yeah... seen live, so. I think I was at a show, but I had missed them at the show. Gotcha. They had been in the opener zone. Yeah, there's some overlap to a lot of, uh- Yeah... opener metal.
• 1:20
I know they were on the bill, I just didn't get to see with my eyes. Right on. Did I, uh- All the same. Did I tell you when I was buying, uh- Tempted, tempted, tempted...
• 1:28
when I was buying Daniel's training wheels, the person that sold 'em to me had a Sleep shirt on. Yeah, always a- [laughs]... it's always fun to see that- And I'm like-... in the wild... I'm like, "Where'd you see 'em?"
• 1:38
Like, "Madison, Silvie." Ah. Where'd the training wheels come from? He's like- Oh, Silvie. Ah, Truly. Oh, right on. I went, I stopped over there- I got excited for a second then you said Silvie, which isn't the worst.
• 1:48
Right. We, we did have a discussion- But-... about the Silvie too. Yeah, yeah. But I did the 4/20 show in Madison for Sleep, and it was, oh, yes it was. It's what I hold the, yeah, the bar is there- I'm sure...
• 1:59
whenever seeing them a couple shows. I'm sure. That had to be a good show. Oh, yeah. I, they must be doing business over there at Truly. I stopped in 'cause, uh,
• 2:06
Aton needed a clamp for a meg or a break or something and- They were busy. Yeah, well, they weren't busy when I was in there, but there was, like, five people in there working, so- Mm-hmm...
• 2:16
they must be doing some stuff. I, I've been in there where it is you've had to wait for someone. Yeah. So they- Right on... do some brisk, brisk work- Yeah... on some things, apparently. Brisk. Brisk, baby.
• 2:27
Uh, little change in the weather. Beautiful [laughs] change in the weather as far as I'm concerned. I've got the pants and the pants I can wear long pants again. I'm, I'm dual shirted again. Right on.
• 2:38
My work shirt and my Alien Andre. Now it's, yeah, now it's the season of not, like, okay, what am I wearing? No, no, no, that's too much. That's too little. Da, da, da, da, da. Yeah. You have, like, two costume changes.
• 2:50
Gotta have 'em in your bag. Bag. I had the, uh, had the lower door open, the upper door open, the shop door open, windows open. It was blowing through there like a hurricane- [laughs]... in, uh, Georgia.
• 2:59
It was fantastic, I bet. Coming through. I got home from work- It was. It was a ride... very fast tonight on my, uh, Ape. I was gonna say, the- Windows out in the back... ride here was perfect.
• 3:07
I was like zing, you know, just had this, had the shirt out like a sail, psht. There you go. Just take me home. If, uh, if our dear listener hasn't heard, uh, Tony was the latest victim of a
• 3:19
bicycle theft in our fair city. Mm, yep. Phil- fill us in a little bit just, uh, in case it ends up in Portland or Seattle or- I mean, it's, it's, uh, it started life as a electric Expedition,
• 3:34
but then I modified it with Surly Moloko bars and bag, I have the bag actually, um, Ergon grips, um, a, oh, it's so hard to say. Selle Anatomica- My Selle-... Ostrich... Anatomica- Saddle... Ostrich saddle.
• 3:52
Bright yellow, you can't miss it. It was so beautiful. And it, and- It felt better than it was beautiful. Unlike most of these Expeditions, it currently doesn't have a front rack on it.
• 4:02
It does not have a front rack on it 'cause I broke it. Um, it has the, um, cargo bag strapped to the Orbiter kids space, um, because that was a good way to do it, so. All sorts of stuff on there.
• 4:20
Yeah. I'm, I'm, I lost a great tool kit, several great tool kits that were in the side pouch. Um, some nice lights, you know. But yeah, it, it sucks. Uh, how much did it- Passing, passing notes.
• 4:33
[laughs] Oh, with doodads? Um- Watch, watch your head... um, we're looking at about 3,000 bucks. Yeah. You know? So, uh, it was in a locked garage and, uh- It was in a locked garage.
• 4:44
They actually took the lock too, so they were efficient enough to make certain, I'm guessing, so that there wasn't any fingerprints or something. I don't know.
• 4:53
It's, it's, I am absolutely certain that it has to be someone that knows my garage. They have to know it. They've seen me parked right there.
• 5:03
I only parked it there that night because it was supposed to rain, otherwise I have it way more securely locked in my yard. Right on. And unfortunately, both batteries,
• 5:13
um, fully charged too, so they could be 125 miles away by now. [laughs] Oh, shit. Might be time to think about setting that passcode on the old computer. Well, there's gonna be a lot of work.
• 5:24
Oh, I, you can't do it on that one. No? Or if you can- You should be able to... I don't know about it, and that makes me sad 'cause I would've. Yeah. Hmm.
• 5:30
Well, you did register it on Bike Index- It is, it is on Bike Index... dot org. And I'll be filing a police report tomorrow. Damn it. Long story.
• 5:39
Um, but yeah, I mean, it's, it's on the fence now, like you said, is how much is my homeowner's insurance? Is it worth claiming given that they're gonna just get it back in three years? Yeah. Yeah, it's a tough call.
• 5:52
Uh, it's definitely a reminder, everybody out there, Bike Index is your huckleberry for registering your bike. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Take a few pictures, get your serial number registered.
• 6:02
It's, yeah, as soon as you get a bike, the first thing you should do is pull out your phone and take a fucking picture of the serial number I'm not sure if it is- And the color...
• 6:09
if it's completely tied in, but shops that run, um... What was that old point of sale thing we used? Um, yeah. Lights- LightSpeed? LightSpeed. Yeah. You can plug that in.
• 6:20
I think, I think, I think they have a tie-in to Bike Index. So if you buy at a shop that has LightSpeed- Um-... it can automatically register it at Bike Index...
• 6:28
I found it fascinating that after I took care of all that, Bike Index actually offers to, for a fee, promote the stolen bike on the socials. Oh. Oh, okay. So anywhere from, I think, $20 to $80- I-...
• 6:44
they'll, like, flood social media... might, might be worth the, uh, effort. It's not a, it's not a bad... 'Cause they do the normal registration free. Right, right.
• 6:52
So I was wondering what their rev- And they want more trips... what their revenue model is. [laughs] Right. Yeah. It is exhausting to try to pull that social media barrage. Right. 'Cause I did. You know.
• 7:02
I mean, it, granted, it was kinda cathartic because it's like, "Okay, no, I can say this again," da, da, da, da, da, da, da. It's a, it's a drag, but- Yeah...
• 7:08
and throw it out there in the world and- It's more of a drag because- And things can come back... Daniel- I know...
• 7:13
would, like, listen to his classmates talk about their dad's Teslas, and then he'd come up with, "Well, my dad's got a car bike with two batteries."
• 7:21
[laughs] It pretty much is like, I think every kid's like, they have no idea what that means, so they're like, "Oh, that kid wins." [laughs] Yeah. You know?
• 7:29
Well, you know, I mean- And technically I do 'cause I don't own a Tesla... good, good call. Right? [laughs] I mean, so they, this is not, this is not the first bike that's been stolen in the very near neighborhood.
• 7:40
There is, matter of fact, two Lectric bikes were stolen this weekend. Really?
• 7:47
So, and apparently Seth, my, my buddy, saw a kid crash a Lectric on Holton and Locust, like, out joy riding it, so that could've been the other one that was stolen. Could've been, yeah.
• 8:00
So it's another, another reminder, you know, maybe carry a second lock around with you. And if you know some friend's bike has been stolen, just lock that puppy up- Mm-hmm... if you see it.
• 8:09
Make sure that they can't get it back again. Right, right. The thieves, that is, not the owners. Right. Right. Uh- All right. Let's get that behind us 'cause that sucks. Yeah. Mm. Yeah.
• 8:20
Well, good- I have looked at replacements, though, and there's a pretty interesting replacement in the show notes. Does WSD- Yeah... fur- fur- Yeah... f- is it Furto Family Bikes? [laughs] Yeah, it is.
• 8:30
Isn't that hilarious? Feral? Fur- Furta. I just kept reading that as Feral. Furla, Furla Lagom electric cargo bike. Look at that thing. All right. Feral. Mid-drive. It's kinda like a Yuba sorta looking thing maybe.
• 8:44
Yeah, but it's, it's mid-drive, belt drive, dual battery. Another bike- Mm... with a front rack with no struts that go down to the fork. Well- Well, you can't, dude, 'cause-... it does have a s-... the fork turns...
• 8:55
it has a suspension fork. Yeah. But- Oh, the rack doesn't turn... the rack doesn't turn. I was gonna message you that, and then my bike got stolen. Well, it's just a, it's obviously not a good design because- Right...
• 9:06
it broke. Um, Yuba had a really cool one where not only did it have those four mounts, like, on the front, but it had, uh, an extension that went to, to the down tube, too.
• 9:18
So it really reinforced that rack, and it could hold a decent amount of weight. Kinda feel like Yuba's a little step above the average. They built a name for themselves. They weren't initially.
• 9:29
They were a run-of-the-mill bike, especially cargo bike, but they've gone gonzo and done some really nice, nice bikes. [laughs] I, I still remember that video or picture of, uh, uh, Schlabowski with his Yuba, uh, towing
• 9:45
the Schlick. Oh, yeah. [laughs] That was when the old, the bike fed used to be over on- Yeah, yeah... in Silver City down there. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. That was a good... It's always a good visual. Yep. For sure.
• 9:54
When I think of Yuba, that's like- I, I might've taken that picture 'cause he w-... first. I think you did... 'cause he was riding the bike and- Yeah, yeah. Yeah... yeah, I'm pretty sure I sh- I shot that one.
• 10:02
Nice, nice. [laughs] Nice. But, yeah, I, you s- you speak Yuba, I see that picture right there. Copy that. Uh- Peek inside my mind. [laughs] Okay. So yeah, so Furla. Yeah, it looks pretty interesting.
• 10:15
Got a couple of kid seats in the back, this and that. Like- That would not be the configuration- Yeah, the-... I would go with... if you keep scrolling along- There's some really neat, I mean-... weird...
• 10:23
Yeah, cool stuff... it's, it's a pretty cool bike. It's got, I mean, it's, it's, it touches some good buttons. Sure. Checks off some good boxes, so to speak. Did you check out that Woodpecker?
• 10:36
It's, uh, it's also in the show notes. It's, uh, uh, guy hasn't been making bikes very long, but apparently his partner has some disability that she used to ride a trike. Okay. And this is an electric.
• 10:48
It, it's a really cool look and it's kind of like a mid-long tail with the battery behind the seat. Take a look at that bike. I, I did see this. It's on- Yeah...
• 10:56
the, uh, this version of the story was on bikepacking.com, but, uh- It's-... it, it's, I think it's a one-off, but it's a really good-looking bike and it's- Yeah, it's cool... it's a good idea for- Right... you know?
• 11:07
Yeah. That, that's a cool, that's a cool setup. Right on. Cool. [sings] Do, do-do, do, do-do. Anybody do anything for music this weekend? Oh, my God, dude. Mm. I ate a lot of food. Last night, I went to Lake Park,
• 11:25
uh, music, Musical Mondays. Uh, it was Makamba. Oh, yeah. A, uh, African band. Uh, there were so many people, like, so many, like, cool musical freaking people. It was just killer.
• 11:42
'Cause I knew C-Bar was gonna be there, uh, dancing, and so was The Marcus, Radio Marcus Doucette. Mm-hmm. Uh, [coughs] Zito rolled up and he's like, "Oh, yeah, there's Reggie from..."
• 11:53
And I don't, I'm not familiar with him, but he's in a whole shitload of bands. Mail boss. And [laughs] what, uh, uh, Cactus Brother Mike Kasperzyk.
• 12:04
Him, and also I look down and I'm going like, "You know, I think that's Brian Ritchie- Just kinda hanging out there You knobs Yeah. [laughs] Wow. Totally. So I was like, damn, that and this, that.
• 12:16
Oh, and you know- A veritable who's who- It was-... of Milwaukee musicians... yeah, and the music was great. And the, uh, when the band was done, 'cause they do have kind of a hard 8:00 c- Right... for you.
• 12:27
I mean, people will like, "Oh, one more song." What, appropriately. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, we can. Not, but they can, but sometimes they just are like, "Oh, well, when you said be done, okay, we're done," kind of thing.
• 12:38
But- Yeah... but the band was just beautiful, just awesome. Just, just thankful and like whatever, just walking by. I'm like, "Great show." "Oh, thank you so much. And da, da, da."
• 12:47
They're playing three nights in Madison right now. Nice. So I was like, "Dude, you're gonna have a great time. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy, enjoy." [laughs] So yeah, that's what I did musically. [laughs] Very, very, yeah.
• 12:59
But- It was my reward, 'cause I went to Dundee over the weekend. Illinois? No. What's in- did- who did you go to Dundee with, Ken Keene? No. [laughs] No, it was just funny. It was like he willed it into sh- my orbit.
• 13:13
It was a, um, Taylor's birthday get-together. They have like a tiki beach- Yeah... bar. I think that's right across from the street from where he g- he stays when he's up there. Okay. 'Cause we were right there.
• 13:26
Where the, where the hell's Dundee? Oh, by Campbellsport. Hour. Yeah, I don't know. Oh. It, it's way up there. Hour north-ish. Oh. Yeah. It's in a- Think I know... yeah.
• 13:35
You, yeah, you wanna talk about, "Oh, yeah, you just kinda wander, wander, wander." I'm like, "I have no idea where the hell I am." [laughs] And you just spit out on this like little thumb-sized lake.
• 13:47
Well, yeah, it's, it's, it's weird- It's a weird place... it's weird that it, it was, it's been mentioned to me, uh, probably five dozen times. Yeah. But- And then I end up there.
• 13:55
Like- Well, you know when you hang around with Ken. Right. Kinda like, uh- Double nickels... kinda like- Double nickels. Kinda like headline news. Kinda g- kinda get the story- Oh... every 20 minutes.
• 14:04
Speaking of them having a bar- Oh... and what have you. Right on. Tiki, tiki-esque. It was kinda... Yeah, no, not really. They had like three things and whatever, but they did have $3, uh- I'm not even sure-...
• 14:15
Coors Banquet... is it technically open still? I think it was either for sale or being sold, or the actual tiki bar might be kind of like fly-by-nighty right now. Eh, it was operational. Drink your damn beer, Craig.
• 14:28
It seemed like there was like four businesses operating- Oh, Fresh Coast... operating together. Okay. Yeah. He- There was like a-... there was some story about it anyway. There was, like, water... Excuse me.
• 14:40
Goodness gracious. Um- That was very, very rich. Yeah. [laughs] Yeah. Just think- So since the hell has rained- All this, all this talking got me going brr or- Yeah. Tony brought the beer today. It's- Thank you, Tony...
• 14:52
it's- Oldie but a favorite as far as I'm concerned. I'm very excited to go visit this finally. Three Sheeps Juicy Pale Ale Fresh Coast. From the Sheboygan, Wisconsin. It's, it's, it's...
• 15:05
The nice thing about it- It was all a dream... it has Citra- You used to read Word Up Magazine... Arma- Every time I hear Citra- Armadillo?... I hear Voodoo. And Mosaic hops, and it's 4.8. Very sessionable.
• 15:20
It's so easily drinkable, and I absolutely love the, the taste of it. You know what's not as sessionable that they just got back at Amorphia? [laughs] You earned one. Yeah, that, and it's- Got your orange whip...
• 15:31
that hits you like a brick. Our, Art- Artemis Orange is back, everybody... it's a double sour. It's like a 7 1/2. That, that is a beautiful sour. Yeah. It's m- Molly loves that.
• 15:42
It's really, it's really good with vodka too. [coughs] Oh. Oh, almost spit take. Whoa, baby. Damn. Wow. [laughs] Goddamn. Wow. That would- That would be- That was a save. That was- That was a save... that was a save.
• 15:54
So close. I'm thinking it's a bad idea to add vodka to that. [laughs] I, I just recall there was a, a vodka time of my life where...
• 16:04
And then I went to White Claws, and then by John Kelly's suggestion, you know, so- Put vodka in the White Claw. Yeah. [laughs] It tastes good. You're not gonna notice it until you notice it.
• 16:15
[laughs] It's like, if you need to catch up, and- I don't-... not encouraging it anymore in my life or- Right... advising others- I don't want do that... to do that. I'm too old for that shit.
• 16:25
It actually is a, a effective way to- To catch up? [laughs] Continue, continuing my, uh, my spam. [laughs] I- maybe should be like a cartoon in- Yeah, I feel like-... in River West Currents or something.
• 16:37
Yeah, we're giving people anxiety. Just like a one, like Family Circus- [laughs]... it's just a one- One bubble? One panel... a one, a one-panel, uh, cartoon.
• 16:45
"My degree of admiration for your work is a reflection of my own enthusiasm for it." Mm-hmm. "Your sketch is visually appealing- Yeah... and composed material is both interesting and informative.
• 16:56
Despite this, you're apparently concerned about moving in a direction that may induce anxiety." [laughs] I'm sorry. What the fuck is this?
• 17:03
I agree that you will be able to deal with this situation quickly and effectively. It's spam comments that come to the, the website. So when I clean them out- That couldn't have been human. I- Skynet...
• 17:14
yeah, it's gotta be an AI-generated thing. Mm-hmm. I would imagine. I think the days of having pools of, you know, fourth-world country people posting all day long- Yeah... is probably over. That's been replaced with AI.
• 17:28
And that's a problem, because h- those people- And those people aren't gonna be able to live... they, they made money doing that. Uh, not a lot, but at least something, to irritate me.
• 17:36
And I don't think- Now they have to mine lithium... they couldn't have come up with this, though. For us to have Teslas. Yeah. Well- Bring the whole background in... no. Yes. You have to- You're a Tesla.
• 17:47
I'm definitely not a Tesla. [laughs] Yeah, yeah. Be a weird-ass South African. South African. [laughs] He's gotta take his daily dose of cat. Well, it's 'cause I'm Blick. Microdoses his cat. But you're, that's Blick.
• 18:04
Does not make any sense at all. I don't think he makes any sense at all, other than he's an idiot savant. Autistic dude. Mm-hmm. Well, it's served him well, at least. He has navigated the waters
• 18:19
Efficiently and effectively Right on Not- I agree... necessarily He's obviously very intelligent, he's just batshit crazy too, which a lot of super intelligent people end up being batshit crazy.
• 18:29
Kinda goes with the territory. Right. That's why I'm gonna live forever. Yeah. I'm fucking shit. The- Well, at least be-... the four hours of sleep a day doesn't help At least be entertainingly crazy.
• 18:37
Yeah You know, like, non-harmful crazy. So, uh- Not intrusive crazy... did we talk about the MADE, the MADE Bike Show last week? I don't think we did. I don't think we did.
• 18:45
It was in the notes, but I don't think we talked about it. You guys remember the North American Hand-Built Bike Show? Mm. Mm-hmm. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Which kind of- Alice Bikes. Yeah.
• 18:55
Uh, yeah, and a lot of great builders, but it kinda petered out during the pandemic and never got back up to speed. Okay.
• 19:02
And, uh, MADE is kinda the replacement for it, and s- I think smartly, because, uh, NABHS used to go to different cities, and I think logistics of running it in Charlotte and Denver and- [laughs]...
• 19:15
Austin and, and Portland and Seattle or whatever, was a challenge. This one I think is going to be kind of permanently in Portland, Oregon. Mm.
• 19:24
And the group that's running it, it, they're deep in the bike industry on the PR side, so hopefully they can keep it going. But it's basically NABHS by another name. Interesting.
• 19:35
Com- coming up on August 23rd if it's not too late to get out to- And the first one-... Portland... [laughs] of the builders, Acoustic Cycles. Yeah. If you ever were thinking you wanted to grab that name, too late.
• 19:45
Yeah, no. [laughs] What about electric bikes? Did somebody have that one yet? I'm gonna guess maybe. I will guess so. Um, yeah, they've, they've got- But, but do they have electric bike? They've got quite a, uh,
• 19:58
quite a list of, uh, good builders and stuff. Oh. And their website, I dunno, are you into usability on your website stuff at all? No. It's got the little circle that follows you all over the place. Have you seen these?
• 20:09
No. It's pretty common now, I think, on new sites that are trying to be, um, super usable. Mm. 'Cause there's the cursor right where your mouse is, and it's a circle, and as you move around, that thing follows you.
• 20:20
It's, like, irritating. [laughs] But, um, yeah, I don't know how many exhibitors they actually have, but a lot. Uh, hundred, hundreds. Mm. So if you're in, if you're in the area for sure, or- I'm checking out this...
• 20:34
I'd like to go out there maybe next- On my birthday... maybe next year, August 23rd. Yeah. Be a good birthday present for Tony. Mm. Take a trip to Portland. Go see some- I ha- I would really like to go to Portland.
• 20:44
I've not- See some fancy bikes... I've been to Seattle a few times, but not Portland. Yeah, last time I was in Portland I was probably 17 or something. All right. So that doesn't even count.
• 20:54
Uh, yeah, uh, otherwise, uh, yeah, not much stuff coming up yet that I've got on the list. Uh, got your Gnomefest Single Speed Wisconsin. Okay. Not sure how that's gonna pan out, actually.
• 21:07
Have to talk to the powers that be- Mm-hmm, mm... and see if that's gonna be a Gomez free zone. [laughs] Uh- I don't know, one of these bikes looks insane. For the handmade thing? Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
• 21:22
It's like, like a, like a damn hammock. Yeah. Like, dang old, got a dang old hammock as your trailer. That looks like the trailer. Yeah. Oh, I like it. Hammock trailer. What's that? Oh, yeah. Sure.
• 21:34
We'll, we'll get to that in a second. I have a message. Um, Carol's giving us cues. She's the director or producer. Director? Uh- Promoter. Producer. I think it's this weekend or next. It's coming up.
• 21:48
Uh, when is Center Street, 17th? Yeah, uh, I shouldn't know that- Center Street Festival... but since it's- It's-... uh, since I could- It'll be right down the block from Tony Berger's place.
• 21:58
Two- I could throw a brick from my house there... two weeks. Two weeks. Oh, they always have a lot of good music. 17th. There's always a good punk rock stage. Yep, yep. Don't forget the cart race. Up, up to- Oh, yeah.
• 22:08
Yeah. Yeah, art carts. Art carts. Art cart race soon. Up Towner's- Art cart festival... got a good lineup, uh, and- Whenever anyone's gonna grab companies... uh, and what do you call it?
• 22:16
Uh, Quarters always has a good punk. A good r- a good punk rocks. Yeah, they do, they do have a good show. Yep, yep. Billy Dreamer- Yeah... always seems to end up playing, so. Let's say Saturday.
• 22:26
Always targeting the Billy Dreamer show. Is that a Saturday or is that a- Saturday... Sunday? Saturday. Saturday. Saturday. S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y. D-A-Y. Night. Right on. Did you guys, uh, did you ever ride a
• 22:39
mini velo bike of any kind? No. You know, like 20-inch... They're not like BMX bikes, they're, like, for full-sized people. I mean, I, I've rid- But they have m- 20-inch wheels...
• 22:50
I've ridden, like, folding bikes and stuff that have 20-inch wheels that- Yeah, this is-... but not, like, you mean like a Bike Friday? Yeah, look at the Soma Rufus. It's, uh, it's, I got a link in the, uh, show notes.
• 23:00
  I forgot to click on it, but yeah. It's, it's, it's a, it's a thing. It's, uh, making- It's a thing. It's a thing. Yeah, it's- Mm-hmm... it's like, make a bike that rides like a full-sized bike, but has 20-inch wheels.
• 23:12
Yeah. Yeah. There's one parked under Mitchell a lot. Well, yeah, that's kinda how my Trek, my, uh, Huber build is, not that, as such. The, oh, the one you, the one you rode today? Yeah.
• 23:22
Like, like, when you were mentioning how, like, the, uh, how my, my saddle is kind of honk like that, it's like, no, just to give it that little extra air, like, little h- more height- But, I mean-...
• 23:34
little more height so I can be up just enough. And with the- Those-... uh, like, not, with the BMX-ish bars. Right. The mini- I've gone lower profile... the mini velo makes sense in a lot of reasons, though.
• 23:45
20-inch wheels, as I've said before on the podcast, are virtually indestructible. That is true. Um, you just make a taller frame.
• 23:54
They're, I, I've known a number of people that have had 20-inch wheeled touring bikes that say if you close your eyes, it's a regular bike. Sure. Yeah. You will not notice the fact that you're on a 20-inch.
• 24:05
I think that's definitely the idea. This one, it's not, uh- Yeah, sure... it's not a BMX bike. It's not a cruiser. No, no, it's a, it's a road bike. Yeah, yeah. For sure. Uh- Yeah, that, that's cool.
• 24:16
Have you seen JK's seat position? I have not. [laughs] We're, no, I'm very intrigued. Kinda like the, the only other person I ever knew that- Yeah, it's, like, it's-... rode like that was the captain in, in Decora. Yeah.
• 24:25
He rides his saddle- 'Cause it's like, okay... like that for some reason.
• 24:27
See, normally seat, yeah- But if you do that, then, you know, this part just gonna lift you, your, your heiner up just a little bit And, and then, you slide down there No, you just use your butt Yeah, I'd be sliding off that thing, but it sounds like- I don't sit on my saddle What do you do, squeeze it with your butt cheeks?
• 24:40
Uh, tailbone. Gonna rest my- You're a weird freaking rider, man [laughs] Well- Yeah, I guess you could, I could...
• 24:46
If the seat is, if it's narrow enough, I could see you're doing that Yeah Doing It's not like I'm sitting on a damn tractor Right So- Put a little Velcro on my ass before I sit on here just so it sticks there now [laughs] It's good stuff It seems like it's working Just-
• 25:00
I don't feel like I have to explain my art to you [laughs] You definitely do not. I'm very excited to listen to this podcast though, 'cause it's weird [laughs] And then, uh, I, this, this one was for Tony.
• 25:11
Did you look at the, uh, Gouach? Is it G-G-O-U-A-C-H? The bat- It's like a rebuildable battery Yes, and that is... There, there's a couple other places that are talking about doing that too, but that makes total sense.
• 25:24
Little bigger- Yeah... but you can remove and reapply cells Yeah, very little bit bigger- Right... I think.
• 25:31
I mean, you, if you look at the site, you'll see it's, it's basically, like, where you would fill it in with epoxy anyway- Right, which is-... to build your pack Yep...
• 25:38
this is what it fills in with And you can, you know, buy free cells. You know what I mean?
• 25:44
Buy, buy for free I mean, that, yeah, you know what I mean Buy for free Single cells, not a full battery pack and, and, yeah Yeah, currently 18650s, but, uh- Yeah, I mean, they'll make it. They'll scale it Well, what...
• 25:55
So- And I like 18650s... I was talking to Sch- um, Schlabowski. He's talking about, um, electrifying a bike for his wife, uh, a mountain bike, and was asking about the CYC system. And I...
• 26:08
Most of the ones I see are, people are either doing 48 or 52 volts on them, and this thing has a really small frame. I'm like, I, I... He kinda pointed it out.
• 26:17
I forgot that they actually, the controller will do 36 volts too. There you go So you can make a 36-volt pack with the same capacity as a 52-volt pack, but it's a lot smaller because it uses a ton less cells. Right So...
• 26:31
  And I don't- Interesting idea... I don't think... I mean, I'm not convinced that everybody needs a 52-volt system. I don't...
• 26:38
I mean, 48 was plenty for me Well, after having ridden the 36 volt on the Omnium for- Yeah, those are incredible...
• 26:44
you know, several weeks now, it, I, I'm not looking for more power basically And that, that cargo bike is also same thing. 500 watt, 36 volt. You know, you can, you can
• 26:58
get some lon- some longevity mileage-wise out of it. Yeah Kind of a cool idea Yeah, 'cause you're, you're trading speed for, uh, distance. Good stuff. All right, everybody.
• 27:11
I'm going the distance Going the, go- going the distance I'm going for speed Da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, na, na. Oh, here's one last one. Sha I've been...
• 27:20
So I get all these product announcements and it's like, "We have new colors for our grips. We have an extra-" [laughs] Are they orange? Doesn't matter I mean- "We have three inches..." This is a new product.
• 27:30
"We have three inches longer on our locks this year." Easy No. Well- Really sure... okay, okay. But Spurcycle, as we all know, makes some of the best bells in the world, right?
• 27:39
Ding So they're making mirrors now Oh Oh And I thought, "Well, if they make them well, I guess that's a good thing." And they look- You know they're going to... they look pretty decent.
• 27:49
They got a lifetime guarantee, so they can't be that bad I know, I f-
• 27:52
I follow your logic, but I, I've also gone, followed logic like that and it's sometimes bites you in the ass Only Molly gets a Spurcycle Well- You don't get one Oh, I got, I bought her that bell.
• 28:03
I can't justify it for myself Yeah. They're like- I'm not, I'm not just, I'm not dismissing them...
• 28:06
they're like 69 bucks for the bell now And we liter- I, I got it for her for either her birthday or Mother's Day, and I didn't tell her, and I put it on the bike, and we were riding to work together and she's like...
• 28:17
As we're leaving, we always would ding each other, 'cause I was going one way and she was going the other, and she looks down and she's like, "You got me a new bell." And then she rang it and she's like,
• 28:28
"Oh my God" Ding Serious sustain Yeah.
• 28:30
I'm like, I'm like, "That's like one of the gr-" I said, "Yes, Mol, I got you a very fancy bell" Symbionts Just like, uh- That r- that, that sustain is, it's like a minute Yeah, it does ring for a long time It's like King Diamond.
• 28:42
Ah Plus, plus they have some new- [laughs] Let me help you, one of your chair Grandma
• 28:51
What was it like to hear on- Yeah, they've got some new colors if you're looking for someone, with- including ones with, uh, fancy colors on them Nice Yep. So anyway, so that's their second...
• 29:03
Oh, they f- I forgot they had water bottles before that looked like ketchup bottles and mustard bottles [laughs] They've always had those though. But anyway, yeah, cool They're goofballs They're goofballs Right on.
• 29:13
All right. Uh, I guess we'll be here next week again Supposedly I think there's stuff happening between now and then, so- Supposedly...
• 29:20
if, if you're, uh, still watching the Olympics, track is still going on, so watch- Yeah, breakdancing... watch your track stuff.
• 29:25
It's- Break, no, breaking It's called break- Never It's called breaking I took, I took, I took break- Breaking... I took breakdancing cart, classes at the Y- It's 'cause you're American...
• 29:33
WCA as a child, so- You should have been taking breaking classes with your American- Yeah, then you could be in the Olympics It was in the '70s, man Or like, or like the guy, the Turkish dude- Or early '80s...
• 29:42
that's doing the shooting with his hand in his pocket and- Yeah. Well, the, the Chinese lady too He, dude, that guy gave off the biggest Steve Albini vibes every time I s- Yeah, he did...
• 29:50
every time I look at him- Oh my God, he just looked like Steve Albini...
• 29:53
I'm just going, "Oh, oh, I'm seeing a Steve Albini just going, hand in pocket" And you know you gotta- And the other one's giving a hi-five Since, since I watched so much news on it, you gotta really feel bad for the, uh, French guy whose penis cost him [laughs] the high jump, or the, uh, pole vault Was he showing the shank?
• 30:10
I mean, I couldn't tell whether it was on purpose It's a really sad situation. I feel bad for the guy Should have just taped it back Right? I don't- [laughs] Talk to- Cut it off.
• 30:17
I don't know, I mean- Haven't you watched enough Silence of the Lambs? You do the tuck and then you'll be fine Yeah.
• 30:22
Yeah It was a pretty entertaining set of events to see It's kinda sad that that would cost him a, anything Well, I think it's gonna gain him a lot of things too though Should make him money from it [laughs] Karma Yeah, yeah.
• 30:33
I'm sure he'll be fine- Yeah... in his next career [laughs] All right, everybody You mean accountant? [laughs] Yes, exactly Later on. Goodbye to you.
