- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
- 0:05Speaker 1: The rex was not chasing the jeep. Murray, Murray, you there.
- 0:09Speaker 1: You love sandwiches. Huh, Let's go to eighty. It was
- 0:14Speaker 1: bo wow that Prime time. Maybe I had a crush
- 0:18Speaker 1: on Betty Rubble.
- 0:19Speaker 2: I honestly, until after the segment ended and we went
- 0:22Speaker 2: to a commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan Coachman
- 0:25Speaker 2: was black.
- 0:25Speaker 1: He caught them the game last night, although they won
- 0:28Speaker 1: the game. You're listening to Stugats and Company.
- 0:31Speaker 2: It is Stegts and Company, presented by FanDuel and the
- 0:34Speaker 2: FanDuel Sports Book. Israel Gudierrez is with us today. He
- 0:38Speaker 2: is with us on the zoom. He sounds awful. He
- 0:40Speaker 2: does we all well, we all figured, I.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Mean he is.
- 0:45Speaker 2: He had the strongest immune system amongst all of us,
- 0:49Speaker 2: and clearly he doesn't.
- 0:50Speaker 1: And that's a shock to everybody. How are you is he?
- 0:53Speaker 3: I'm doing well.
- 0:54Speaker 4: This is the times where I like regret having a
- 0:57Speaker 4: bunch of nieces and nephews or they're just like man
- 1:00Speaker 4: because you only go.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Around them all the time.
- 1:01Speaker 4: I don't build up the big strength that you know
- 1:03Speaker 4: my sisters do, and so when I go around them
- 1:06Speaker 4: every once in a while and they pass something along,
- 1:08Speaker 4: it's just deadly.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Sometimes I shouldn't say deadly.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Yes, But is he wanted to come in, you should
- 1:13Speaker 2: not say deadly no. Is he wanted to come in today?
- 1:17Speaker 2: We told him he couldn't because you know, if his
- 1:19Speaker 2: immune system can't handle it, I'm pretty certain mine can't
- 1:22Speaker 2: handle whatever it is that he has. And so he's
- 1:24Speaker 2: joining us on the Zoom. Mike Golick is going to
- 1:26Speaker 2: fill in again here on Radio Today, and Michael Wilbon
- 1:30Speaker 2: is going to join us to start the show. I
- 1:32Speaker 2: am very excited about that. Yes, I made friends with
- 1:35Speaker 2: Michael Wilbon while he was almost favor to fill in
- 1:38Speaker 2: for me. Well you know what happened, is he? What happened?
- 1:40Speaker 2: Well Goldok's a Hall of Famer filling in for you.
- 1:42Speaker 2: What happened with Wilbon is he actually saw me as
- 1:45Speaker 2: a father at the Final four at Northwestern, and I
- 1:48Speaker 2: think it.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Changed his opinion of me. And so I'm very excited. Yes,
- 1:52Speaker 1: what I.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Saw because I was watching the game.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Congratulations to you, Thank you and Rachel, Thank you, mostly Rachel.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Mostly Rachel. Yes, I didn't do anything.
- 2:02Speaker 4: Right, but I saw wilbon interviewed during the broadcast, and
- 2:05Speaker 4: I was like, Wow, this is going to be a moment,
- 2:09Speaker 4: like there's the collision course happening here Stu Goatts, Mike Wilbond.
- 2:13Speaker 4: And it turns out that you guys made nice So
- 2:15Speaker 4: I like to hear that.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Yes, I am looking forward to it. We also have
- 2:18Speaker 2: And this is the reason is he wanted to come on. A.
- 2:20Speaker 2: He was tired of not talking about basketball.
- 2:22Speaker 3: This is his time.
- 2:23Speaker 1: He loves this shit.
- 2:24Speaker 2: And B there was a press conference a Q and
- 2:27Speaker 2: A given yesterday in a particular radio show that that
- 2:31Speaker 2: upset is real goody aras, And so we want to
- 2:33Speaker 2: have a little Q and A to counter the Q
- 2:35Speaker 2: and A.
- 2:35Speaker 3: How about that? I mean, all right, I'll take that.
- 2:40Speaker 5: Much like Izzy, I'm sick of this Oklahoma City thunder team.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'm sick of talking about the prior show
- 2:45Speaker 1: I was on.
- 2:46Speaker 2: I gotta be honest with you, Jesus Christ Almighty, I
- 2:50Speaker 2: too am sick of Oklahoma City.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Is he what a weird series, man?
- 2:54Speaker 2: Because it's the rare it's the rare series that has
- 2:58Speaker 2: arrived at a seventh game. But the series hasn't been
- 3:00Speaker 2: right at all. The last four games have been blowouts
- 3:02Speaker 2: and so not a great series. But we all get
- 3:05Speaker 2: what we want, especially Nick fans. We get the best
- 3:07Speaker 2: two words in sports, Game seven, Game seven followed by
- 3:11Speaker 2: Game two, and we also get rest. And so we're
- 3:15Speaker 2: just waiting around as Nick fans, to see who we're
- 3:17Speaker 2: gonna face it at this point, I don't want anything
- 3:18Speaker 2: to do with Wendy. I don't want that alien at
- 3:21Speaker 2: Madison Square Garden. He'll take that place over and make
- 3:23Speaker 2: it his.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I don't.
- 3:24Speaker 4: I mean, it's funny because I text you, guys toward
- 3:28Speaker 4: the end of Game one of this series, which is
- 3:30Speaker 4: the best game of the series. You're right by far,
- 3:32Speaker 4: and I said the Spurs didn't sound like the most
- 3:35Speaker 4: profound statement at the time because it felt like everybody
- 3:38Speaker 4: in the country was saying this, But I said, finally, oh,
- 3:40Speaker 4: the Spurs are going to win the championship, because it
- 3:42Speaker 4: felt like they could still get more of what they
- 3:47Speaker 4: wanted against Oklahoma City than Oklahoma City can against San Antonio.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Now that has basically flip flopped from game to game
- 3:56Speaker 4: where it looks like sometimes it looks like, wow, the
- 3:58Speaker 4: Spurs really do. Like Game six, the Spurs really had more.
- 4:01Speaker 4: It felt like they could go to and if some
- 4:03Speaker 4: of that was Wemby because he was hitting threes and
- 4:05Speaker 4: then doing the whole hey, let me just throw it
- 4:07Speaker 4: off the backboard to myself.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Game again.
- 4:09Speaker 4: It just felt like they could take away more from
- 4:12Speaker 4: the Thunder than vice versa. But you go to those
- 4:15Speaker 4: games in Oklahoma City, Taylor, and it feels like that's
- 4:18Speaker 4: when the Thunder can get what they want. And it's
- 4:21Speaker 4: more of what you were saying earlier in the series
- 4:23Speaker 4: is Hey, they have more experience, they have more ways
- 4:26Speaker 4: to get the wins. I still believe in the Thunder.
- 4:28Speaker 5: Yeah, Izzy, this series had all the hype. Game one
- 4:31Speaker 5: surpassed the hype, and then to Stu's point, it has
- 4:34Speaker 5: felt almost unwatchable to a certain extent with the play
- 4:38Speaker 5: style that this Thunder team has, and it feels like
- 4:41Speaker 5: this is gonna be a bad look for the league.
- 4:43Speaker 5: Where Game seven will most likely be determined based on
- 4:47Speaker 5: how the refs call the game. Where you have Game
- 4:50Speaker 5: five at Oklahoma City, SGA shoots seventeen free throws before
- 4:55Speaker 5: they even get to the fourth quarter. The Thunder win
- 4:57Speaker 5: by thirteen. Game six in San Antonio, so he's six
- 5:00Speaker 5: of eighteen from the field, and he shoots just three
- 5:03Speaker 5: free throws. They lose by twenty seven. It seems like
- 5:06Speaker 5: whoever is calling this game and the impact the refs
- 5:09Speaker 5: have is kind of kind of gonna determine who wins
- 5:13Speaker 5: the series?
- 5:14Speaker 2: Is he It's so funny because when Oklahoma is playing
- 5:16Speaker 2: at home, it seems like they have the deeper team
- 5:19Speaker 2: and the deeper bench, and when San Antonio is playing
- 5:21Speaker 2: at home, it seems like they have the deeper team
- 5:23Speaker 2: and they have the deeper bench. And I will say
- 5:25Speaker 2: this about Oklahoma City. If they're gonna play that poorly
- 5:28Speaker 2: on the road, it's San Antonio. Imagine what the Mecca
- 5:31Speaker 2: is gonna do to that team?
- 5:32Speaker 4: All right, Yes, but I think it has a lot
- 5:35Speaker 4: to do with Wemby and not as much to do
- 5:37Speaker 4: with the place that they're playing. But I'm just wondering,
- 5:42Speaker 4: do you guys think that it is more Oklahoma City
- 5:46Speaker 4: not doing what they normally do or is it the
- 5:49Speaker 4: Spurs and Wemby actually affecting them? Right, because you know,
- 5:53Speaker 4: you talk about the free throws and everything else, And look,
- 5:56Speaker 4: am I.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Allowed to feel bad for the referees.
- 5:58Speaker 4: Because I think this is an impossible series to referee
- 6:01Speaker 4: when you've got Victor Wembinyama who they're being. You know,
- 6:04Speaker 4: this is probably the first series or the first time
- 6:06Speaker 4: we've seen a team go super let's just go physical
- 6:09Speaker 4: in air quotes with Victor Wenbinyama and him have to
- 6:12Speaker 4: really deal with it, and the referees not really knowing
- 6:15Speaker 4: what they're looking at. And then you've got you know,
- 6:17Speaker 4: the Flopperonis over there in the thunder and you don't
- 6:20Speaker 4: know what's a foul and what's not a foul. I
- 6:21Speaker 4: feel sorry for them a little bit, but I do
- 6:23Speaker 4: feel like the Spurs can take the thunder out of
- 6:26Speaker 4: what they're doing more regularly.
- 6:28Speaker 3: It doesn't matter where they are.
- 6:30Speaker 2: I think the big question is who is the referee
- 6:32Speaker 2: for Game seven? Is it Scott Foster? Because that guy
- 6:36Speaker 2: loves to control the game and he will call a
- 6:38Speaker 2: ton of fouls a SGA will get We'll find himself
- 6:41Speaker 2: on the foul line a lot, and if he does,
- 6:43Speaker 2: they're gonna win because consistently over the last two years,
- 6:46Speaker 2: when he gets the foul line a lot, that team
- 6:48Speaker 2: wins most of their games. And so I think that
- 6:51Speaker 2: really depends on who the referee is. I'm not certain
- 6:54Speaker 2: who the ref is. Hopefully for Oklahoma City, they'll get
- 6:56Speaker 2: the referee they that they had in Game five, They'll
- 6:59Speaker 2: get that same games Brothers, Yes.
- 7:03Speaker 4: Tony Brothers definitely looks like if you just took some
- 7:06Speaker 4: still frames together, it looks like he's in the pocket
- 7:08Speaker 4: of the thunder.
- 7:10Speaker 3: But I do think that the main thing in the
- 7:13Speaker 3: game that the Spurs win.
- 7:14Speaker 4: It feels like they really take advantage of the fast break,
- 7:16Speaker 4: and that's a lot easier to.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Do at home.
- 7:18Speaker 4: You know, yesterday they were running hard, and if they
- 7:22Speaker 4: can still somehow do that and effectively in Oklahoma City,
- 7:26Speaker 4: then obviously they still have a shot. I think the
- 7:28Speaker 4: more difficult part to recreate, to replicate from San Antonio
- 7:32Speaker 4: to Oklahoma City is the non Wemby minutes, Right, those
- 7:36Speaker 4: were great in Game six? Yes, can you replicate that
- 7:39Speaker 4: in a Game seven on the road against the champs,
- 7:42Speaker 4: maybe getting a little bit of a friendly whistle and
- 7:45Speaker 4: you know, obviously playing as if their life depended on it.
- 7:48Speaker 5: Is You mentioned the non Wemby minutes, and this stat
- 7:51Speaker 5: kind of compares and contrasts SGA and Wemby's impact this series,
- 7:56Speaker 5: because I think everybody can kind of agree that SGA
- 7:59Speaker 5: has been pretty underwhelming the series in terms of being
- 8:02Speaker 5: just a back to back MVP. The Spurs are plus
- 8:05Speaker 5: fifty five with Wemby on the court this series, they're
- 8:08Speaker 5: minus thirty eight without him. Is the Thunder are minus
- 8:12Speaker 5: twenty eight with sgaight on the court through six games,
- 8:16Speaker 5: and they're plus eleven without SGA.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Overrated and No, it just speaks to a few things.
- 8:21Speaker 4: It speaks to the rotation being altered, right because they
- 8:27Speaker 4: have Jaalen Williams in and out, They had aj Mitchell
- 8:30Speaker 4: in and out, you know, and even somebody like Isaiah
- 8:34Speaker 4: Joe is somebody that he could use as a every
- 8:36Speaker 4: once in a while, doesn't have to use him necessarily,
- 8:38Speaker 4: but he's been using them lately. And so I think
- 8:40Speaker 4: when you have the team that's required to be together, right,
- 8:44Speaker 4: five guys on a string at all times on both
- 8:46Speaker 4: sides of the ball, frankly, but five guys on a
- 8:49Speaker 4: string at all times, when you alter it, even in
- 8:51Speaker 4: the slightest, you're going to get, you know, imperfect resolutions, right,
- 8:56Speaker 4: imperfect solutions. And with SGA on offense, it's almost as
- 9:01Speaker 4: if he needs to isolate more. It's almost as if
- 9:04Speaker 4: he needs to just get everybody out the way and
- 9:06Speaker 4: say look. For a couple of reasons, One, it's a
- 9:08Speaker 4: lot easier for those referees to make those calls when
- 9:10Speaker 4: all eyes are on the isolation, right, You're not looking
- 9:12Speaker 4: over there, looking over there off the ball to see
- 9:14Speaker 4: if it's isolation. Everybody's got their eyes on the ball.
- 9:16Speaker 4: That's when SGA gets those foul calls. But also it
- 9:20Speaker 4: just eliminates a lot of the Hey, if Jared McCain
- 9:23Speaker 4: decides to take five straight shots and goes one for five,
- 9:26Speaker 4: all of a sudden, it's a ten oh run. We
- 9:28Speaker 4: need to knock that stuff out of here. I know,
- 9:30Speaker 4: I two time MVP can get my shot whenever I
- 9:33Speaker 4: want it, even against Wemby. He's shown in this series.
- 9:36Speaker 4: So it feels like you almost need more of the
- 9:38Speaker 4: usage of SGA.
- 9:39Speaker 5: STU, I'm dancing around what I actually want to say
- 9:42Speaker 5: right now, Yeah, go SGA. It is a pathetic play
- 9:45Speaker 5: style for a back to back MVP.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 9:48Speaker 5: And I'm at the point right now where I'm watching
- 9:49Speaker 5: SGA and I had the realization yesterday SGA is James
- 9:53Speaker 5: Harden with better pr YEP.
- 9:54Speaker 1: I want them, I do. I desperately want.
- 9:56Speaker 2: I'm telling you right now, the Knicks win that series
- 9:58Speaker 2: at five, they do, Isaiah Joe is average Joe. In fact,
- 10:01Speaker 2: they should change that term average Joe to Isaiah Joe.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Put it on the pole teller.
- 10:07Speaker 4: Who's who's defending SGA for the Knicks? Is it Michail Bridges?
- 10:13Speaker 4: Probably is it Ojan Andobi?
- 10:14Speaker 1: I mean, Mitchell Robinson is healthy. He's not the guy.
- 10:17Speaker 1: But by the way, put this on the pole. Is
- 10:18Speaker 1: there a guy who doesn't?
- 10:21Speaker 2: Is there a guy in the NBA who has who
- 10:24Speaker 2: who can play better without the use of his fingers?
- 10:26Speaker 1: That Mitchell Robinson?
- 10:27Speaker 2: Because like he is fine, he broke his pinky, He
- 10:30Speaker 2: is going to be back. He doesn't need his hands.
- 10:33Speaker 2: He just sets screens, you know. So, uh who is
- 10:36Speaker 2: going to guard SGA? It's probably gonna be I would
- 10:38Speaker 2: think Og or probably McHale Bridges.
- 10:41Speaker 5: I feel like in the early season matchups, is he
- 10:44Speaker 5: They've matched uh Okc's front court Hartenstein and Chet with
- 10:49Speaker 5: Kat and Og, so I would assume that leaves Bridges.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Let me rephrase the pole question that came out clumsily.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Does Mitchell Robinson need his hands playing basketball?
- 11:02Speaker 3: He is such a confusing basketball player.
- 11:04Speaker 4: I've seen clips of him taking and making threes and
- 11:07Speaker 4: pickup games, and yet he can't shoot a free throw
- 11:09Speaker 4: that goes an inch higher than the actual rim. It's
- 11:12Speaker 4: the flattest shot I've ever seen.
- 11:14Speaker 3: I don't understand it.
- 11:15Speaker 1: I don't know, but I love him. I mean, scrappy guy,
- 11:17Speaker 1: he'st that's the little things. Yes, you need guys like that.
- 11:20Speaker 5: There was no way when that injury update comes out
- 11:24Speaker 5: that Mitchell Robinson broke his pinky and would need surgery,
- 11:28Speaker 5: and at first it was his status was unclear. Now
- 11:31Speaker 5: they've upgraded to he fully expects to play Game one.
- 11:35Speaker 5: There was no way Mitchell Robinson was missing this series
- 11:38Speaker 5: because nobody has epitomized the Knicks journey from a joke
- 11:43Speaker 5: to a contender more than Mitchell Robinson, because he's one
- 11:46Speaker 5: of the only guys that's been there the entire time
- 11:49Speaker 5: where he gets a second contract with the Knicks, and
- 11:52Speaker 5: he was like the first player to get a second
- 11:54Speaker 5: contract with the Knicks that they drafted since like Charlie
- 11:57Speaker 5: Ward in the nineties.
- 11:58Speaker 4: Yep, he's been even bother than finding out which pinky
- 12:02Speaker 4: it was, because I was like.
- 12:03Speaker 1: No, don't chop it off. Chop it off.
- 12:05Speaker 2: He would tell that listen, nothing is going to keep
- 12:07Speaker 2: him from playing in the NBA Finals. And Taylor is right.
- 12:10Speaker 2: If Mitchell needed to, he would just say, hey, take
- 12:12Speaker 2: it off. I'm good without it. I'm probably better without it.
- 12:15Speaker 1: You never know, he.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Would Ronnie Lot that thing for sure.
- 12:19Speaker 5: I mean he's shooting thirty percent with the pinky. Yeah, Like,
- 12:22Speaker 5: what's what's the worst that happens if we chopped the
- 12:23Speaker 5: pinky off, he shoots twenty percent.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Right, or maybe he shoots forty percent, and you know
- 12:28Speaker 2: it was the pinky slack all the time.
- 12:29Speaker 5: It's like Rookie of the Year when Henry Rowan Gardner
- 12:31Speaker 5: breaks his arm and all of a sudden comes back.
- 12:33Speaker 3: That I'm of the.

- 14:33Speaker 3: What you guys haven't talked to you guys about this obviously?
- 14:35Speaker 4: What you guys think of Wemby sending the code red
- 14:38Speaker 4: ordering a code red when he said, have you seen
- 14:40Speaker 4: the I don't know if this is real or not,
- 14:42Speaker 4: because I don't know what's real. But did you see
- 14:43Speaker 4: the other image of the other angle where he said
- 14:45Speaker 4: hard foul in their ears apparently? And I was like,
- 14:48Speaker 4: I don't know what to think about that.
- 14:49Speaker 1: I love them, Yeah, do so.
- 14:51Speaker 5: He whispered hard foul to plumbly and the next play
- 14:56Speaker 5: plumbly absolutely levels Jared mccannon. It was kind of a
- 14:59Speaker 5: bus might.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Be on both of them.
- 15:00Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, well they all committed hard fouls. I'm poor
- 15:03Speaker 4: Jared McCain.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Yes, they're soldiers. They did their job, they took their orders,
- 15:06Speaker 2: they did their job. I mean Wemby told them to
- 15:08Speaker 2: do it. And by the way, if you're gonna whisper
- 15:10Speaker 2: put this on the pull. When you whisper hard foul
- 15:13Speaker 2: into an NBA player's year, does it need to be
- 15:15Speaker 2: a plumb lee?
- 15:18Speaker 4: Well, I'm wondering does it is this like a Ray
- 15:20Speaker 4: Rice situation? Like when you actually see it, is it
- 15:23Speaker 4: worse than not seeing it?
- 15:24Speaker 3: Like hey? Or is it lamer because he just said
- 15:28Speaker 3: hard foul and you.
- 15:29Speaker 4: Really wanted to, like in your mind, you wanted like
- 15:31Speaker 4: a big speech that you better like that.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Otherwise it's just hard foul with the French accent.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Listen, Wemby saved the All Star Game and he is
- 15:38Speaker 2: now saving the NBA.
- 15:39Speaker 1: People are glued to Wemby and he is bringing.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Hard foul playoff basketball back, and I applaud him for it.
- 15:45Speaker 1: I really do.
- 15:46Speaker 5: Is he The one thing that I do respect from
- 15:48Speaker 5: the Spurs this series is it seems like if if
- 15:52Speaker 5: they're going to get fouls called against them, they're at
- 15:55Speaker 5: least making the Thunder earn the foul calls. Where I
- 15:59Speaker 5: thought that Jared McCain one to be fair to the
- 16:01Speaker 5: Thunder was pretty bushy because Jared McCain is not guilty
- 16:06Speaker 5: of any of the flopping alligations like SGA is. But
- 16:10Speaker 5: like if Sga is going to go to the basket
- 16:12Speaker 5: and get fouled, it feels like the Spurs are at
- 16:14Speaker 5: least making him earn it.
- 16:16Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, and they should.
- 16:18Speaker 4: I know, Stefan Castle maybe needs to chill a little bit,
- 16:20Speaker 4: especially in like isolation situations where again all sets of
- 16:24Speaker 4: eyes are on you. You know, maybe just relax and
- 16:28Speaker 4: not foul him as often as you do. But yeah,
- 16:30Speaker 4: I'm with you there, man. It's it's tough. It's a
- 16:33Speaker 4: tough team to like, it's a tough team to watch,
- 16:37Speaker 4: and when everybody's doing it, it's just it's hard.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Man.
- 16:40Speaker 4: Like lou Dort, do you know how thick that dude is?
- 16:43Speaker 4: And like he's sitting there flopping around too.
- 16:44Speaker 3: It's just frustrating.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Taylor is because he has so much time on his
- 16:48Speaker 2: hands and we're just waiting around to see who we're
- 16:50Speaker 2: gonna play in the NBA Finals.
- 16:51Speaker 1: He's unhinged. He has added a person.
- 16:54Speaker 2: To his list of people that he wants off the bandwagon?
- 16:57Speaker 2: What is this list list of people that you can't stand?
- 16:59Speaker 5: So not the list of the bandwagon? This is my
- 17:02Speaker 5: list of haters?
- 17:03Speaker 1: Oh okay, good?
- 17:04Speaker 5: Where they're my shit list? Basically, good and I have
- 17:08Speaker 5: a new addition today, Kevin O'Connor.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Hmm, okay, really Kevin O'Connor.
- 17:14Speaker 5: Kevin O'Connor was the only media member out of one
- 17:18Speaker 5: hundred media members with a vote. Yeah, that did not
- 17:20Speaker 5: vote Jalen Brunson to an All NBA team. Not his
- 17:23Speaker 5: first team, not his second team, not his third team.
- 17:28Speaker 4: Wow, how does one do that? What were the choices
- 17:31Speaker 4: ahead of him?
- 17:31Speaker 5: So, I'm glad you asked.
- 17:34Speaker 1: You know the choice is so, he said.
- 17:36Speaker 5: No, You're gonna be surprised, I think by some of
- 17:38Speaker 5: these names. He said he was sorry to Knicks fans
- 17:40Speaker 5: that he didn't vote, and his reasoning afterwards was so asinine.
- 17:44Speaker 5: He said, if the voting was after the playoffs, he'd
- 17:46Speaker 5: probably be on his first team. But you look at
- 17:49Speaker 5: Jalen Brunton. He was a top ten scorer in the league.
- 17:51Speaker 5: He was eleventh and assists per game. You could see
- 17:53Speaker 5: the impact that Jalen Brunson has on this team to
- 17:56Speaker 5: get the Knicks to a three seed in the East.
- 17:59Speaker 5: He said his last third team spot was down to
- 18:02Speaker 5: Jalen Johnson, Denny Odvida, and Tyrese Maxi And this was
- 18:07Speaker 5: exact quote is he I think Brunson was on the
- 18:10Speaker 5: bubble for the third team spot. For me, it was
- 18:12Speaker 5: about verse Tyrese Maxie versus Jalen Johnson versus Denny Advida.
- 18:16Speaker 5: At the time, I favored Avida as a two way
- 18:18Speaker 5: guy had a big year in Portland. Jalen Johnson an
- 18:21Speaker 5: offensive full crumb with the Atlanta Hawks, very versatile for
- 18:24Speaker 5: that team. And then it was really for me, it
- 18:26Speaker 5: was a matter of Maxie versus Brunson. I favored Maxie
- 18:29Speaker 5: slightly because I thought Brunson he carries a heavier load offensively,
- 18:33Speaker 5: but Maxi had a much better defensive regular season.
- 18:35Speaker 1: He should lose his vote, thank you.
- 18:37Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a tough one, Avdia, Avdya, I've messed that
- 18:42Speaker 4: one up a few times as well.
- 18:43Speaker 5: That's amazing.
- 18:44Speaker 4: So it basically came down to Maxi versus Brunson for
- 18:47Speaker 4: him and the.
- 18:47Speaker 3: First two spots. The first two teams were taken up by.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Huh, good question.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Yes, he doesn't have that information. He only has him
- 18:57Speaker 2: on his shit list.
- 19:00Speaker 4: Hey guy, So the first team, I mean, there's no
- 19:04Speaker 4: real position, right, So it's SGA, it's uh Luca. Right,
- 19:07Speaker 4: So let's just say those are two obvious choices ahead
- 19:10Speaker 4: of it.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Well, hold on, if you did it after the postseason, though,
- 19:12Speaker 2: and I think you should do it after the postseason,
- 19:14Speaker 2: he would probably take SGA off.
- 19:16Speaker 4: I mean, right, I mean, that's that's a whole different conversation.
- 19:19Speaker 4: We can't just change the set, change the rules and
- 19:23Speaker 4: Mike Brown Coach of.
- 19:24Speaker 1: The Year over But hold on, hold on, yes, and
- 19:26Speaker 1: just stop for a second.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Is he don't you think they should factor in the
- 19:29Speaker 2: postseason when doing these awards?
- 19:30Speaker 1: I do. I mean, what the biggest of the.
- 19:33Speaker 4: New award, like, if you want to do playoffs MVP,
- 19:35Speaker 4: which I do believe the the NHL has a version
- 19:38Speaker 4: of that, right instead of just a finals MVP or
- 19:40Speaker 4: just a conference finals MVP, if you want to do
- 19:42Speaker 4: an entire playoffs MVP, I'm all about that. I feel
- 19:45Speaker 4: like the NBA is already sort of stuck in its
- 19:48Speaker 4: ways because rather than do a full playoffs MVP, they
- 19:50Speaker 4: just decided to go MVP. And now they have two
- 19:53Speaker 4: of those, and so you know, they're basically eliminating the
- 19:56Speaker 4: first and second rounds from any sort of awards assignment.
- 19:59Speaker 4: But no, I don't think the regular season or the
- 20:02Speaker 4: postseason should be included in the regular season, all right,
- 20:04Speaker 4: so do we have the fun I do think that
- 20:05Speaker 4: there's other questions there, like Donovan Mitchell was the second
- 20:08Speaker 4: team Donvian Mitchell or Jalen Brunston. I mean, this is
- 20:13Speaker 4: without examining the numbers at all. It feels like Jalen
- 20:16Speaker 4: Brunson had a better year and did more for his
- 20:19Speaker 4: team than Donovan Mitchell. So it feels like if you're
- 20:21Speaker 4: just isolating the Tyres MAXI versus Jalen Brunson, you're kind
- 20:25Speaker 4: of not really including everybody into the conversation.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Can you give me the entire second team there?
- 20:30Speaker 2: Because as we know, basketball is positionless now, and so
- 20:33Speaker 2: I'm just wondering who else made that team?
- 20:36Speaker 4: Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Donovan Mitchell, Jalen Brown, and Jalen Brunson.
- 20:40Speaker 1: I mean easy one.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Take Durant's off, put Brunton in, right, I mean, seriously,
- 20:43Speaker 2: Brnston's already it.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Brunton's on.
- 20:45Speaker 2: No, no, no, I understand that, But I'm talking for
- 20:47Speaker 2: me and O'Connor's standpoint, like whatever, Yeah, I mean a
- 20:53Speaker 2: couple of O'Connor's cutting it up. How about that I'm
- 20:56Speaker 2: just saying, from his standpoint, he needs if he voted
- 20:58Speaker 2: for Durant, he should be a shit himself over Jalen Brunson.
- 21:02Speaker 2: That's where That's what I'm saying. Do we know if
- 21:03Speaker 2: he voted for Durant? Do we have any idea?
- 21:06Speaker 5: Now I'm looking for his list.
- 21:08Speaker 1: He's just on our ship list, all right, we pore back.
- 21:13Speaker 4: To be I mean, Kevin Durant is permanently on your
- 21:15Speaker 4: shit list because Kevin Durant hell of a year and
- 21:18Speaker 4: deserve to be right up there with the second teamers.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Y Well, guess who's gonna be watching Jalen Brunson playing
- 21:23Speaker 2: the NBA Finals?
- 21:25Speaker 1: Kevin Durant, Vin Durant about that?
- 21:27Speaker 3: I mean, he played seventy eight games this season.
- 21:29Speaker 4: Kenny, did I know they wish to talk about everybody resting?
- 21:32Speaker 4: He played seventy eight, average twenty six and at thirty seven,
- 21:36Speaker 4: thirty six years old.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Pretty impressive.
- 21:38Speaker 1: I think the Rockets wish he played less. I mean,
- 21:43Speaker 1: I am so mean to Kevin Durant. I love you, Ken,
- 21:45Speaker 1: I do, but Taylor is this.
- 21:47Speaker 4: I don't not having him, not having Jalen Brunson on
- 21:51Speaker 4: any of the three all NBA teams, whilst Jalen Brunson
- 21:55Speaker 4: still made the second team. Is that something where you
- 21:58Speaker 4: really like, is that deserving of a shit list position?
- 22:01Speaker 3: Or is it just like I need all the glory
- 22:03Speaker 3: for my guy.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Maybe Ian's vote or whatever his name is gets him
- 22:08Speaker 2: to the first team, though perhaps you know, maybe.
- 22:11Speaker 5: Yeah, it's not even about that. And it's like, come on,
- 22:15Speaker 5: be a respected NBA journalists, You're a respected NBA journalist.
- 22:19Speaker 5: How am I supposed to take your basketball opinion series
- 22:22Speaker 5: when you watch Jalen Brunton and say he wasn't one
- 22:24Speaker 5: of the fifteen best players in the NBA this season.
- 22:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean it's hard to say. It's practically impossible
- 22:30Speaker 4: to say. I was a little bit surprised with the
- 22:31Speaker 4: Jalen Johnson part of the All thirteam because it felt
- 22:35Speaker 4: like that was a maybe not second half of the season,
- 22:38Speaker 4: but let's say second two thirds of the season type
- 22:40Speaker 4: of performance from him, and I thought maybe that.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Was somebody you could leave off.
- 22:44Speaker 4: But hey, you know, I mean to each and ow
- 22:46Speaker 4: and I think Jalen got what he deserves at that
- 22:47Speaker 4: second team spot. And you know, if he could be
- 22:50Speaker 4: on your shit list, I'm sure he can come off
- 22:51Speaker 4: of it.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Right, Is Kevin O'Connor an NBA expert? Because I'm just
- 22:56Speaker 2: I'm thinking, like I'm going through the rollodecks of people
- 22:58Speaker 2: I want to hear from ian NBA news breaks, and
- 23:01Speaker 2: I'm telling you Kevin O'Connor is dead.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Last, Like.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Rankings, is that bad?
- 23:09Speaker 1: Is that mean? I mean, I just I don't how
- 23:12Speaker 1: does he have a vote? I mean.
- 23:16Speaker 3: Have him on and then just think opposite of.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Whatever he says.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Yes, we love Kevin O'Connor. He's very credible. He's one
- 23:22Speaker 2: of the best NBA guys going. Taylor, get him on
- 23:25Speaker 2: the show next week.
- 23:26Speaker 4: Okay, So he also said he he says he had
- 23:28Speaker 4: I mean he made a mistake.
- 23:30Speaker 3: At least that's a yes.
- 23:32Speaker 5: I found his second team finally, right, it's Jalen Brown,
- 23:37Speaker 5: Jalen during Kawhi, Leonard Donovan, Mitchell, Jamal Murray.
- 23:43Speaker 1: So we didn't vote from Jamal Murray is the oof?
- 23:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean just off off the dome. Jamal Murray
- 23:53Speaker 3: is the oof there.
- 23:54Speaker 4: I mean not because he was left off of the
- 23:57Speaker 4: second team or whatever, but just off the top my head,
- 24:00Speaker 4: just Jalen had a better season.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Do you think if he asked all the other four
- 24:04Speaker 2: guys on the second team, hey, we're going to trade
- 24:06Speaker 2: Jalen Duran for Jalen Brunson, they'd be okay with it.
- 24:14Speaker 1: You know.
- 24:14Speaker 4: The other part about that is, by the way, because
- 24:16Speaker 4: if you're again, if you're including Jamal Murray into the conversation,
- 24:19Speaker 4: throw him into the tyres MAXI, Jalen Brunson, Jamal Murray trio.
- 24:23Speaker 4: I'm still picking Jalen Brunson first of those three.
- 24:26Speaker 3: And he had Jamal Murray on his second team.
- 24:29Speaker 4: So I don't know if that's giving more a nod
- 24:32Speaker 4: to the Western Conference because it's more difficult. I don't
- 24:34Speaker 4: think that's necessarily fair. But you know, voting is hard, man.
- 24:37Speaker 4: I used to vote on a lot of things, and
- 24:38Speaker 4: I used to get shitited from everybody when I was
- 24:41Speaker 4: Never was I more nervous than when I was an
- 24:44Speaker 4: AP college football voter. And I'd wake up on Mondays
- 24:47Speaker 4: and be like, please tell them I didn't forget Somebody,
- 24:48Speaker 4: please tell me there isn't, like, you know, a Mississippi
- 24:51Speaker 4: State that I was supposed to put in there, and
- 24:52Speaker 4: they're all just gonna flood my emails.
- 24:54Speaker 3: It's just it's hard. It's not the easiest thing in
- 24:56Speaker 3: the world. Give them some slack.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Do you do you have a story if someone texting
- 24:59Speaker 2: you were calling you because they're upset that you forgot
- 25:01Speaker 2: about them.
- 25:02Speaker 3: I mean, I mean, it's really old.
- 25:03Speaker 4: It's I don't even remember the details, but I just
- 25:05Speaker 4: remember every other week in the A People just somebody
- 25:09Speaker 4: was either criticizing mine or telling me I completely let
- 25:12Speaker 4: somebody off. And I'm a joke of a reporter, and
- 25:15Speaker 4: it's just like, man, it's just.
- 25:16Speaker 3: The A people, Taylor.
- 25:19Speaker 1: That's so mean of you? Is the air working at
- 25:25Speaker 1: the radio station?
- 25:27Speaker 2: Isy, you picked a good day to be sick because
- 25:30Speaker 2: the power is out. I had to climb to not
- 25:33Speaker 2: one and two flight of stairs with a backpack on
- 25:35Speaker 2: my shoulders. I am still. I mean, listen, I'm still
- 25:39Speaker 2: trying to catch my breath. Bad shape right down. The
- 25:42Speaker 2: elevators aren't working. Someone is stuck at an elevator. I mean,
- 25:46Speaker 2: I am nervous. I am nervous about the entire day,
- 25:48Speaker 2: mostly about walking back down those stairs when the eater.
- 25:50Speaker 3: How about that?
- 25:51Speaker 4: So the elevator that time stands still is now actually stuck.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Yes, it's just standing still.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Yes, yes, So easy.
- 25:58Speaker 5: I realized something was awry where I got off on
- 26:04Speaker 5: seventy five and all the lights were off, all the
- 26:07Speaker 5: traffic lights, and it felt like a lawless society because
- 26:11Speaker 5: that's a pretty busy intersection and nobody knew when to
- 26:14Speaker 5: go and when to not go. So I was just
- 26:17Speaker 5: like inching my way up. And as I'm getting there,
- 26:19Speaker 5: I'm like, oh, that was weird that that light was out.
- 26:21Speaker 5: The next lights out, the next lights out, the next
- 26:23Speaker 5: lights out, and I'm like, okay, let me just get
- 26:26Speaker 5: into the studio right now. And I walk in and
- 26:29Speaker 5: there's alarms blaring and the lights are just completely out.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:33Speaker 4: Man, I mean, I hope I'm not seriously sick, but
- 26:36Speaker 4: I'm glad I'm sick here. But Taylor also spoiler alert.
- 26:39Speaker 4: In South Florida, if there's ever lights out, it doesn't
- 26:42Speaker 4: matter what the intersection is, nobody's going to know what
- 26:44Speaker 4: to do. Nobody's gonna know what to do, even if
- 26:46Speaker 4: it's the lightest intersection in all of South Florida.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Even when they were, people barely know what to do.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Tailor in that situation, I'm about to cough. Yeah, no,
- 26:56Speaker 2: I could hear it. Go ahead. That's usually me. It's
- 26:59Speaker 2: easy this time. I'm super happy about that.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Uh.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Normally, in those situations lights aren't working, you just pin it, right,
- 27:05Speaker 2: that's what you do, Just keep going until someone stops you.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Right, I mean no, I.
- 27:09Speaker 5: Was doing the I was doing the exact Oh I
- 27:12Speaker 5: was crawling.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Well you're safer. Yeah, I was crawling.
- 27:16Speaker 5: The guy behind me is going like seventy five miles
- 27:18Speaker 5: per hour, flooring it into like the back of my car,
- 27:22Speaker 5: and I'm like, I'm going very slow. I'm looking at
- 27:25Speaker 5: the guy to my right and being like I'm giving
- 27:28Speaker 5: him the thumbs up, like am I allowed to go now?
- 27:29Speaker 5: He's like he's giving me the emphatic no, and I'm like, okay,
- 27:34Speaker 5: I'll wait here.
- 27:34Speaker 2: I guess little teamwork there. Huh did he give you
- 27:37Speaker 2: the de Kende Matumbo finger?
- 27:40Speaker 5: He gave me another finger.
