Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Senator Schumer is he's nervous as a pregnant nun. It's
- 0:05Speaker 1: hard to believe that anyone can can fit that much
- 0:09Speaker 1: stupid into their head.
- 0:10Speaker 2: I think all.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Those those people need to popo zoeloft and relax a
- 0:16Speaker 1: little bit. Anybody that tells you that they know what
- 0:20Speaker 1: the short term impact of these tariffs is going to
- 0:23Speaker 1: be on the economy has been homeschooled by day drinker.
- 0:28Speaker 2: If you hate.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Cops just because of their cops, you don't know anything
- 0:30Speaker 1: about them, then next time you get in trouble, call
- 0:33Speaker 1: a crackhead.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Few people roast Washington and logic more with charm and
- 0:40Speaker 3: more truth than my next guest. He's the most quotable
- 0:42Speaker 3: Senator maybe ever. He is John Kennedy, And the Senator
- 0:46Speaker 3: has a brand new book out, Pulling No Punches.
- 0:48Speaker 2: It's called How to Test Negative for.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Stupid and Why Washington Never Will And joining us now
- 0:53Speaker 3: is Senator Kennedy himself. Senator, who prompted you to write
- 0:57Speaker 3: this book? Was it because you were seeming to be
- 0:59Speaker 3: so quotable and bookable for those people who have shows
- 1:03Speaker 3: like this?
- 1:06Speaker 1: Well after I had been in the Senate for an
- 1:10Speaker 1: acceptable reasonable period of time, Brian, I just decided I
- 1:15Speaker 1: wanted to write a.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Story book.
- 1:19Speaker 1: It's not a policy book, though I talk about policy
- 1:22Speaker 1: some a story book about what Washington and specifically the
- 1:27Speaker 1: Senate is really like and why in Washington normal is
- 1:33Speaker 1: just a setting on the Cloches Drive. Many of the
- 1:35Speaker 1: stories are funny, some of them are deeply bizarre. Right,
- 1:39Speaker 1: and I think the book you'll understand this shutdown much
- 1:43Speaker 1: better if you read the book well.
- 1:45Speaker 3: I can hear your voice in every word, because you
- 1:47Speaker 3: love to read, and now we know you love to write.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Here's an excerpt I think stood out.
- 1:51Speaker 3: He said, I don't hate anyone though my people skills
- 1:53Speaker 3: are generally fine.
- 1:54Speaker 2: I have a low.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Tolerance for more runs and blue bleep. I like breakfast
- 1:59Speaker 3: food and straight answers. It's hard to get straight answers
- 2:02Speaker 3: in Washington, d C. In part because common sense is illegal.
- 2:05Speaker 3: That's why I am so direct. That's why I ask
- 2:07Speaker 3: tough questions, which we have.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Seen in action.
- 2:11Speaker 3: And now we're sitting now with something happening.
- 2:15Speaker 2: That backs up the premise of your book.
- 2:17Speaker 3: It seems like we are in a shutdown despite being
- 2:20Speaker 3: the most successful country in the world. We can't agree
- 2:23Speaker 3: how to fund it.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Well, I think that's a reflection. This shutdown is a
- 2:32Speaker 1: reflection of how absurd the demands are of the socialist
- 2:38Speaker 1: wing of the Democratic Party, which is of course telling
- 2:43Speaker 1: Senator Schumer what to do. We asked for you've heard
- 2:47Speaker 1: the term clean cr That just means we didn't ask
- 2:50Speaker 1: for anything. To open government and negotiate a new budget
- 2:55Speaker 1: for the next six or seven weeks, and the loon
- 2:59Speaker 1: wing Senctor Schumer said, we'll only agree to open it
- 3:03Speaker 1: if you give us one point five trillion dollars.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Well, we're not going to do that. If we did
- 3:09Speaker 2: do that.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Brian, you would see inflation go through the roof. You
- 3:13Speaker 1: would see long term interest rates go through the roof.
- 3:18Speaker 1: And I don't see an end in sight. I really don't.
- 3:21Speaker 1: If we're still shut down in two weeks, my suggestion
- 3:25Speaker 1: is that we locked Foon and Schumer into a room
- 3:30Speaker 1: with Katie Porter and tell them they can't come out
- 3:33Speaker 1: till they.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Make a deal. Absolutely, that would be a scary sight.
- 3:36Speaker 2: And lastly, just.
- 3:37Speaker 3: As we try to fund the government, I think the
- 3:39Speaker 3: problem is to a degree, is that you're asking for
- 3:43Speaker 3: nothing and they're asking you to undo the big beautiful
- 3:46Speaker 3: bill including a lot of the recisions that went through.
- 3:48Speaker 2: So therefore, when they say meet halfway.
- 3:51Speaker 3: You're not even out of the blocks, Like you, where
- 3:53Speaker 3: do you want to meet?
- 3:54Speaker 2: You haven't asked for anything.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Yeah, well this is this is this is just crazy.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Somebody asked me yesterday to describe it. I said, it's
- 4:07Speaker 1: like it's like the game room in a mental hospital.
- 4:11Speaker 1: That's what the Senate is like right now. It's and
- 4:15Speaker 1: it's I mean, I'm prepared to just stay shut down.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I'm sorry for all the pain it's causing. You know,
- 4:22Speaker 1: our military is not going to be paid for a while,
- 4:25Speaker 1: and I mean, I'm really The pain that is causing
- 4:29Speaker 1: the American people breaks my heart.
- 4:31Speaker 2: But I don't know what else to do.
- 4:33Speaker 1: We can't just they basically want us to repeal the
- 4:36Speaker 1: one big, beautiful bill to spend one point five trillion dollars,
- 4:41Speaker 1: and we can't do that.
- 4:42Speaker 2: It would really hurt the country.
- 4:44Speaker 1: But we can't just give the moon wing of the
- 4:48Speaker 1: Democratic Party one point five trillion dollars. Right, you can't
- 4:51Speaker 1: do it. I'm not gonna I'm not going to vote
- 4:54Speaker 1: to do it.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Right. Meanwhile, you can pick up Center Kennedy's book.
- 4:56Speaker 3: It's had to test negative for stupid and why Washington
- 4:59Speaker 3: never will? Your premise is backed up every day this
- 5:03Speaker 3: shutdown goes on.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Thanks Enner, always great to have you.
