While Timbuktu is famous for its manuscripts and scholars, the educational system that produced them remains little understood. This episode examines the Sankore curriculum — how students at Timbuktu's great mosque-university progressed from memorizing the Quran to mastering Maliki jurisprudence, astronomy, logic, and medicine.
