Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: 106.7 Light FM. Friday, September 25th. It's 9 to 5 day.
- 0:04Speaker 1: We played a little Dolly Parton earlier.
- 0:06Speaker 2: It was fun, yeah.
- 0:06Speaker 1: It's Cubby and Christine, producer Kristen. We're here and getting
- 0:10Speaker 1: ready for the big Nor'easter. Cloudy today. Rain arrives probably
- 0:14Speaker 1: evening time. And then it's pretty much rain and wind
- 0:17Speaker 1: all day, Saturday and Sunday. And what are you planning?
- 0:21Speaker 1: Are you planning on doing anything, Christine? Are you going
- 0:22Speaker 1: to hunker down?
- 0:23Speaker 2: I had to. I changed things. I'm hunkering.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:26Speaker 2: I'm going to hunker down. I'm going to do a
- 0:28Speaker 2: little ShopRite run today. Is it going to be crazy
- 0:31Speaker 2: when I go? Am I going to be there with, like,
- 0:34Speaker 2: hysteria masses?
- 0:35Speaker 1: You seem to always attract people.
- 0:37Speaker 2: I just, like, walk into.
- 0:39Speaker 1: It might be a little busy. Yeah. But, you know,
- 0:42Speaker 1: it is what it is. Oh, and so we got
- 0:45Speaker 1: football this weekend, of course. And I'm already out for
- 0:49Speaker 1: this weekend's NFL Survivor Pool, as we mentioned earlier.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Yeah, you thought, I love it, because yesterday your confidence
- 0:55Speaker 2: level was, See, I'm going to be able to relax
- 0:57Speaker 2: all weekend because my team's going to win tonight.
- 0:59Speaker 1: I'm still going to relax because I know I have
- 1:01Speaker 1: a loss.
- 1:01Speaker 2: You and Kristen have to hurry.
- 1:03Speaker 1: That's right. Like the decisions are already made.
- 1:05Speaker 2: That's true.
- 1:06Speaker 1: So if you haven't heard, we're doing a survivor pool here.
- 1:09Speaker 1: It's me, Kristen, and Christine. Every week you have to
- 1:11Speaker 1: pick a team in the NFL to win outright. And
- 1:14Speaker 1: you can't pick that team again. And we're playing with
- 1:18Speaker 1: two strike. I mean, you can have up to two misses.
- 1:21Speaker 2: We should have made it three.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Kristen and Christine already have two misses.
- 1:25Speaker 2: One apiece.
- 1:25Speaker 1: One apiece. And I got my first miss last night
- 1:28Speaker 1: when I said the Packers will beat the Falcons. And
- 1:31Speaker 1: the Falcons beat the Packers in Green Bay, which surprised
- 1:34Speaker 1: me because I thought the Jets got lucky. And I'm sorry,
- 1:39Speaker 1: I thought the Packers got lucky and they beat the
- 1:41Speaker 1: Jets on this past weekend. So I thought, OK, maybe
- 1:45Speaker 1: the Packers are going to be fired up. They had
- 1:47Speaker 1: a scare. They pulled it off. Now they're going home.
- 1:49Speaker 1: They're going to just crush the Falcons in Green Bay.
- 1:52Speaker 1: It didn't happen. Anyway, I got my strike. Yeah.
- 1:54Speaker 2: So we're all even.
- 1:55Speaker 1: We're all even. Yes. And by the way, Kristen, I
- 1:58Speaker 1: know you're tuned in right now. She's working from home.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Victor is taking the same as you, taking the Chiefs
- 2:04Speaker 1: over the Dolphins.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 2:06Speaker 1: That's what Kristen picked, right? Yes, she did. And he's
- 2:09Speaker 1: playing along.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Bills over the Chargers.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Bills over the Chargers. Yes. So you could have your strike,
- 2:15Speaker 1: we'll know on Sunday.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 2:17Speaker 1: You actually could be out. You and Kristen could both
- 2:19Speaker 1: be out.
- 2:19Speaker 2: We could. But, you know, Kristen and I are humble,
- 2:22Speaker 2: so our teams might be okay.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I was very cocky in that video that we did.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I'm like, I have no strikes. Yeah.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:30Speaker 1: We have Harry Medved calling in today. Yes. We're talking
- 2:32Speaker 1: movies later.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Talking movies. We have a winner for our Harry Styles
- 2:37Speaker 2: contest that we have to call.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Oh, I forgot about that.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:41Speaker 1: So what we're going to do is we're going to
- 2:42Speaker 1: go to our talkback thing and see who left a message.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:46Speaker 1: On who wants to see Harry Styles, the talkback is
- 2:49Speaker 1: a feature you can do by clicking the microphone on
- 2:51Speaker 1: the iHeartRadio app. And if you leave us a message
- 2:53Speaker 1: and tell us why you want to see Harry Styles,
- 2:55Speaker 1: we may call you. So we've got to go through
- 2:58Speaker 1: all of them, pick one at random, and maybe make
- 3:00Speaker 1: somebody's day.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's going to be fun. I love giving
- 3:03Speaker 2: away prizes.
- 3:04Speaker 1: What about, oh, hello, Taylor Swift. Yeah. New song out today. Yes.
- 3:09Speaker 1: We'll play it at 7 o'clock.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Technically four new songs.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Yeah, it's four new songs. But we have all four,
- 3:14Speaker 1: don't we, technically?
- 3:15Speaker 2: We do.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Okay. I mean, they're available.
- 3:20Speaker 1: They are available.
- 3:20Speaker 2: They are available. Yes, they are. But we're going to
- 3:23Speaker 2: be playing.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Well, Patient Zero is like the quote.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Single.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Single. Yes. We'll be playing that at 7 o'clock. Okay.
- 3:28Speaker 1: And then just after 9. And what else?
- 3:31Speaker 2: And Kristen's got a busy weekend.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Oh, my goodness. Guys, if you want to do something fun,
- 3:36Speaker 1: don't worry about this whole Nor'easter because you have a
- 3:39Speaker 1: roof on your car. And this place has a roof
- 3:42Speaker 1: where it's happening.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Yeah, and you want to be like inside and having
- 3:45Speaker 2: fun on a weekend like this.
- 3:46Speaker 5: Yes.
- 3:46Speaker 1: You want to go to New Jersey Horror Con and
- 3:49Speaker 1: Film Festival. It's happening this weekend. And producer Kristen and
- 3:52Speaker 1: her hubby are kind of the main people behind this show.
- 3:55Speaker 1: And it's happening at the Delta Hotels Woodbridge in Islin,
- 3:58Speaker 1: New Jersey.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Which is across from the Woodbridge Mall, by the way.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Exactly. And it's a three-day horror convention filled with celebrity guests,
- 4:06Speaker 1: vendors to shop from, films, cosplay, panels, and more. And
- 4:10Speaker 1: featured guest, check this out, Susan Sarandon from the Rocky
- 4:14Speaker 1: Horror Picture Show. She is going to be there. She'll
- 4:16Speaker 1: meet you. Dee Wallace, she's the mom in E.T. She's
- 4:21Speaker 1: going to be there.
- 4:21Speaker 2: I love these.
- 4:22Speaker 1: How cool it is to meet her. She was also
- 4:24Speaker 1: in Cujo. Oh, wow. I don't know if you remember
- 4:26Speaker 1: that movie.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I do, yeah.
- 4:28Speaker 1: There's a Chucky reunion going on along with many other
- 4:31Speaker 1: horror stars and filmmakers. So it's happening, I believe it
- 4:34Speaker 1: begins today. It says a three-day horror convention. So today
- 4:38Speaker 1: and tomorrow and Sunday. And if you need more information,
- 4:41Speaker 1: hit up njhorrorcon.com. njhorrorcon.com for tickets and more info.
- 4:53Speaker 2: To tell you two things.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Cubby and Christine's.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Two pretty cool things. All the ladies think Lenny Kravitz
- 5:01Speaker 1: is hot. And we've met him, and I'm not going
- 5:04Speaker 1: to lie, he's a good looking dude. Yes, yes. Well,
- 5:06Speaker 1: Lenny Kravitz is the newest Barbie Ken-bassador, bringing his powerful
- 5:11Speaker 1: stage presence to the collection of legendary figures now online
- 5:14Speaker 1: at major retailers. And do you know how much it
- 5:17Speaker 1: costs to get a.
- 5:18Speaker 2: How much is my Lenny Kravitz Ken?
- 5:20Speaker 1: 70 bucks for a Lenny Kravitz Ken doll.
- 5:22Speaker 2: I saw the picture. He looks good.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Yeah. And, you know, we've had the honor and privilege
- 5:26Speaker 1: to interview him a few times. He's such a nice guy.
- 5:29Speaker 1: And just the ladies, when they see him.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Oh, please.
- 5:31Speaker 1: He's got that six pack. He's always showing off his abs.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Kind of got everything going on.
- 5:35Speaker 1: He's got everything going on.
- 5:36Speaker 4: He does.
- 5:37Speaker 1: I mean, time is like no problem for him. It stops.
- 5:40Speaker 2: All right.
- 5:40Speaker 1: What do you have as a cool thing, baby? I
- 5:42Speaker 1: love your way.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Okay. Thank you, Kevi. It's about Dolly Parton today, of course,
- 5:46Speaker 2: being Dolly Parton Day. Bono is sharing some details about
- 5:50Speaker 2: YouTube's collab with Dolly Parton.
- 5:52Speaker 1: YouTube's? You said YouTube's, I think.
- 5:55Speaker 2: I said YouTube's?
- 5:56Speaker 1: I think you said YouTube's.
- 5:58Speaker 6: YouTube.
- 5:58Speaker 2: I have a cough drop in my mouth. I'm trying
- 6:00Speaker 2: to push it out of the way.
- 6:01Speaker 1: I could be wrong.
- 6:02Speaker 2: So I can talk. YouTube's the band. YouTube, what I
- 6:06Speaker 2: watch at night. So YouTube the band and Bono were
- 6:11Speaker 2: working on an album with Dolly Parton. Dolly said... She
- 6:15Speaker 2: had a bunch of songs and Bono said, let's do
- 6:17Speaker 2: a whole album. And she was like, no, no, she
- 6:19Speaker 2: didn't feel like she was right for it. But she
- 6:21Speaker 2: had one song in particular called Torn that she said,
- 6:25Speaker 2: you can take this. You can have someone else record it,
- 6:27Speaker 2: whatever you want to do. He said the song was
- 6:29Speaker 2: so beautiful. He wanted her to do it. So he
- 6:32Speaker 2: said that even though she was ill at the time,
- 6:34Speaker 2: she got out of bed to sing this song. And
- 6:38Speaker 2: he said, and you can hear that. He said, I
- 6:39Speaker 2: can't listen to it right now. Like it's too much
- 6:42Speaker 2: for him. But he said Dolly was able to approve
- 6:44Speaker 2: the final mix before she passed, and it was her
- 6:47Speaker 2: final recording.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Wow. Look, it's so sad that she's no longer with us,
- 6:50Speaker 1: but that is a cool story. Look, we keep her
- 6:53Speaker 1: memory alive with her beautiful voice.
- 6:56Speaker 2: And she worked to the last moment.
- 6:58Speaker 1: God bless her. All right, we're coming right back with
- 7:00Speaker 1: Taylor Swift, one you already know. But we have her
- 7:04Speaker 1: new one coming up at 7 o'clock.
- 7:05Speaker 7: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 7:09Speaker 7: Next on Light FM.
- 7:10Speaker 1: All right. Christine.
- 7:12Speaker 2: This is so funny. I have to share this, Covey.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Let's discuss. Okay.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Just came across this topic on the internet. You are
- 7:18Speaker 2: being recruited for the world's least useful Olympics. What event
- 7:24Speaker 2: do you take the gold in? And the response is
- 7:27Speaker 2: every single one relatable.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Give people examples if you don't mind.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Plugging in a USB the wrong way on the first try.
- 7:34Speaker 1: And why is that?
- 7:35Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 7:36Speaker 1: It's supposed to be so easy. Oh, it's upside down.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Every single time.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Forgetting someone's name four seconds after being introduced to them.
- 7:48Speaker 1: I do it all the time.
- 7:48Speaker 2: I take the gold.
- 7:50Speaker 1: And it's something that I always say to myself, I'm
- 7:52Speaker 1: not going to let it happen next time.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Right.
- 7:55Speaker 1: And I always just, I never change.
- 7:57Speaker 2: I am so with you. This is one that Eric
- 8:00Speaker 2: is mighty proud of. grocery bag carrier. Doesn't matter if
- 8:04Speaker 2: there are two or twenty, we're only making one trip.
- 8:08Speaker 2: His arm might break, but he's going to bring all
- 8:11Speaker 2: of them up the stairs.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Because a lot of grocery stores don't do plastic bags anymore,
- 8:14Speaker 1: but the ones that do, you get And your blood
- 8:18Speaker 1: circulation is being cut off your fingers.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Oh, when they were plastic. Yes.
- 8:22Speaker 1: When they were plastic.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Yeah. You would think you were going to lose a finger.
- 8:24Speaker 2: I know.
- 8:25Speaker 4: I know.
- 8:25Speaker 2: That was really scary.
- 8:27Speaker 1: The one I liked right here, it says picking the
- 8:29Speaker 1: wrong line nearly anywhere.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Yep.
- 8:32Speaker 1: And that happens a lot with me in traffic. I'll say,
- 8:34Speaker 1: I'm switching to this lane because this lane is moving.
- 8:37Speaker 1: And then I get in that lane and the lane
- 8:39Speaker 1: I was just in is now moving. Right.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Is that a psychological trick? Is that like our brain
- 8:44Speaker 2: or is that happening? Because at the grocery store- Like
- 8:48Speaker 2: 10 for 10, I will pick the wrong line.
- 8:50Speaker 1: It looks like it's going to be short and run quick. Yeah.
- 8:53Speaker 1: But the one that was longer actually moved fast. Yes.
- 8:57Speaker 1: You would take the gold in that.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Yes, I would take the gold in that. And here's
- 9:00Speaker 2: where I take if there were platinum. Taking a decision
- 9:04Speaker 2: that would require 30 seconds and turning it into a
- 9:08Speaker 2: three-day research project.
- 9:11Speaker 1: That is just you being thorough, man. I know you
- 9:15Speaker 1: do it all the time.
- 9:16Speaker 2: It's exhausting.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I'm bad, not as bad as you, but I do
- 9:20Speaker 1: take longer than needed on some situations.
- 9:23Speaker 2: It's torture up in your cubby.
- 9:24Speaker 1: But it's a great question. So text us at 44363.
- 9:28Speaker 1: The question is, Christine?
- 9:30Speaker 2: You're being recruited for the world's least useful Olympics. What
- 9:33Speaker 2: event do you take the gold in?
- 9:35Speaker 1: Hit us up.
- 9:36Speaker 7: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 9:40Speaker 7: Next on Light FM.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. 106.7 Light FM. Oh, my gosh. Oh. Cubby
- 9:46Speaker 1: and Christine.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Scared all of us.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Well, because it's, well, first of all, it's September 25th,
- 9:51Speaker 1: three months until Christmas. But forget Christmas right now. Yeah.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Can we talk about Halloween?
- 9:56Speaker 2: Can we, please?
- 9:57Speaker 1: What are you dressing up as? It doesn't matter if
- 9:59Speaker 1: you're a kid or a girl. a grown-up. What is
- 10:02Speaker 1: the costume to have this year?
- 10:03Speaker 2: Yeah, this is important.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Are you wearing anything?
- 10:06Speaker 2: Well, there's some things that are popping. A little bit.
- 10:09Speaker 2: And they happen to be based on pop culture. So
- 10:12Speaker 2: every year that does happen, right?
- 10:13Speaker 1: Are there a lot of Dolly Partons? I'm thinking there'll
- 10:15Speaker 1: be a lot of Dolly Partons.
- 10:16Speaker 2: There's a lot of Dolly Partons. So yeah, if you
- 10:19Speaker 2: go by the internet searches and what people are looking
- 10:21Speaker 2: for right now, Dolly Parton is super, super popular. Taylor
- 10:27Speaker 2: always is.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Since like 2012.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Since Eric and I did it. Yeah, Taylor Swift and Travis.
- 10:33Speaker 2: The Pit, The Doctors from The Pit, which is a
- 10:35Speaker 2: show that I know you watch.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I love it.
- 10:38Speaker 2: So you could do that. That's an easy one for you.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Medical scrubs, an ID badge and a stethoscope and look exhausted.
- 10:43Speaker 1: But the problem with that is you have to explain it.
- 10:46Speaker 1: You look like a doctor.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Well, usually.
- 10:49Speaker 1: What are you, a doctor? Well, I'm more than a doctor.
- 10:50Speaker 1: I'm blah, blah, blah.
- 10:51Speaker 2: From the pit. It's usually on like the little ID tag.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Oh, you have to put the name on the ID tag.
- 10:56Speaker 2: And then people have to read it. Harry Styles in
- 10:58Speaker 2: the Dance No More video.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Ah, that's big.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Tiny red shorts, blue zip up hoodie, sneakers. I think
- 11:04Speaker 2: that's very you. I think you should go with that, actually,
- 11:09Speaker 2: not the pit.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Actually, I have a question. What are you going to wear?
- 11:11Speaker 1: Because I know you go to a grown-up Halloween party. Yeah.
- 11:14Speaker 1: You've done Travis and Taylor before.
- 11:16Speaker 2: I did Taylor and Travis. My favorite was I was
- 11:20Speaker 2: one of the ghosts from the Disney ride.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Oh, the Haunted Mansion? Yeah.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Oh, that's cool. That year. I loved doing that. I mean,
- 11:27Speaker 2: like my interpretation of it, like one of the ballroom
- 11:29Speaker 2: ghosts or something. Oh, that was such a cool one.
- 11:32Speaker 2: And I had the Disney ears and the goth makeup
- 11:35Speaker 2: and I wish I could revisit that. So I don't
- 11:37Speaker 2: know yet. Yeah. I don't know yet.
- 11:39Speaker 1: I'm going to be Olivia Dean.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Okay.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Or Sabrina Carpenter, because I'm reading that a lot of
- 11:44Speaker 1: pop culture music icons are popular. People are dressing up as,
- 11:47Speaker 1: like we mentioned Dolly, but Olivia Dean and Sabrina Carpenter.
- 11:50Speaker 2: So why would you do Harry Styles when you could
- 11:52Speaker 2: be Olivia Dean? I get it.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Right. I like, you know, wearing a dress every now
- 11:56Speaker 1: and then, it's just kind of fun.
- 11:57Speaker 2: It's comfortable.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Yeah. And the heels.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Yeah. Athena and Odysseus from the Odyssey.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Oh, that was a big movie.
- 12:05Speaker 2: We could do that.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Spider-Man, then. Okay. Well, I know it's been around forever.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Yeah, me too, and Spider-Man.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Spider-Man had a moment again this year at the box office.
- 12:13Speaker 2: I think this is a funny one. Celebrity row at
- 12:15Speaker 2: Madison Square Gardens. You could be Taylor and her friends. Oh,
- 12:18Speaker 2: I love that. And Mariska Hargitay.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Spike Lee.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Oh, that one.
- 12:21Speaker 1: That one's good.
- 12:22Speaker 2: That's a good one. That one we can do. Bad
- 12:24Speaker 2: Bunny Super Bowl bushes.
- 12:26Speaker 1: You can go as the bushes. I forgot all about that.
- 12:29Speaker 2: There's grass costumes that you can get. There's a little, yeah.
- 12:32Speaker 1: You can't go wrong either with K-pop, Demon Hunters, even
- 12:34Speaker 1: though that was kind of happening last year. Okay. I
- 12:37Speaker 1: think you can get away with it again this year
- 12:38Speaker 1: if you're a kid or an adult.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Is Wicked done? Like if I'm Glinda, done, right?
- 12:44Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe.
- 12:45Speaker 2: So last year.
- 12:45Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 12:46Speaker 2: And the year before.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Okay. All right.
- 12:47Speaker 2: It's all right. We'll come up with something. We've got
- 12:49Speaker 2: a little time.
- 12:49Speaker 1: 44363 on text. Let us know what you're dressing up as.
- 12:53Speaker 1: You can always do the, what's the go-to that never
- 12:56Speaker 1: changes every year? A nurse?
- 12:58Speaker 2: A nurse, a witch, for women, you know, a cat.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Oh, cat is very easy too, right?
- 13:03Speaker 2: Yeah, because we put the cat ears and cat suit. Boom,
- 13:07Speaker 2: we're good to go.
- 13:08Speaker 1: And I'm good to go with new Taylor music coming
- 13:10Speaker 1: up next. We'll play Patient Zero, and you have the
- 13:12Speaker 1: headlines on the way.
- 13:13Speaker 2: I do, and you mentioned Christmas, so... Is it too
- 13:16Speaker 2: early to decorate for Christmas?
- 13:18Speaker 1: We'll find out.
- 13:19Speaker 7: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 13:23Speaker 7: Next on Light FM.
- 13:25Speaker 1: 6.59 on this Friday, September 25th, 9 to 5 day.
- 13:28Speaker 1: We love you, Dolly Parton, and we miss you already. Hey,
- 13:30Speaker 1: all the headlines right now with Christine. Good morning, Christine.
- 13:33Speaker 2: And good morning, Cubby. And yes, a lot of talk
- 13:35Speaker 2: about the Nor'easter, which is headed our way. So New
- 13:37Speaker 2: York City has a travel advisory in effect. Long Island
- 13:41Speaker 2: expected to be hit hard with flooding, all the coastal regions, right,
- 13:44Speaker 2: even along New Jersey shoreline. Mayor Mondani reminding people who
- 13:49Speaker 2: live in basement apartments to please be careful and have
- 13:53Speaker 2: an exit plan. And if you park your car in
- 13:56Speaker 2: what is typically a flood zone, you probably want to
- 13:58Speaker 2: get that to higher ground. So the wind advisory kicks
- 14:01Speaker 2: in at two o'clock this afternoon. And We'll be dealing
- 14:04Speaker 2: with those kind of conditions this weekend. New Jersey Governor
- 14:07Speaker 2: Mikey Sherrill calling on Lieutenant Governor Dale Caldwell to resign
- 14:11Speaker 2: following an investigation into allegations that he acted inappropriately with women.
- 14:17Speaker 2: President Trump is celebrating the long history shared with the U.S.
- 14:21Speaker 2: and China, hosting President Xi Jinping at the White House
- 14:25Speaker 2: for a state dinner yesterday. Trump said European explorers first
- 14:29Speaker 2: discovered the Americas while trying to discover a route to China. Meanwhile,
- 14:33Speaker 2: CNN is reporting both they and MSN Now were denied
- 14:38Speaker 2: access to cover Xi's arrival to the dinner, despite a
- 14:43Speaker 2: court order allowing reporters back in the White House earlier yesterday.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Mortgage rates are over 7 percent for the first time
- 14:51Speaker 2: in nearly two years. They are reaching their highest level
- 14:53Speaker 2: during either of President Trump's terms in office. And I
- 14:58Speaker 2: guess we could lighten things up a little bit here
- 15:00Speaker 2: if you're attending this. The Global Citizen Festival at Central
- 15:04Speaker 2: Park this weekend. It's still on, despite the weather. Just
- 15:08Speaker 2: want to let you guys know they're moving forward.
- 15:10Speaker 1: But get your parka and your galoshes out.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Just be prepared for it.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Be prepared.
- 15:14Speaker 2: In sports, baseball, Mets lost to the Rangers 3-1. Yankees
- 15:17Speaker 2: fell to the race 6-4. The Falcons beat the Packers 35-14.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Paul could be bright.
- 15:25Speaker 1: I got a strike.
- 15:26Speaker 2: You have a strike against you.
- 15:28Speaker 1: I was so confident the Packers were going to walk
- 15:30Speaker 1: all over the Falcons and I was wrong. So with
- 15:33Speaker 1: that said.
- 15:33Speaker 2: We all have one strike against us.
- 15:36Speaker 1: But this weekend, your games haven't played yet, Christine and Kristen.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:40Speaker 1: You could be done for the year.
- 15:41Speaker 2: But the thing is, we've been humble about it.
- 15:43Speaker 1: All right. Karma's got me. I'll admit. I'll admit.
- 15:48Speaker 2: This is our football pool, by the way. And is
- 15:51Speaker 2: it too early to decorate for Christmas?
- 15:54Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Depends on how you feel about the holidays, according to
- 15:56Speaker 2: the experts. If you love long festive seasons, decorate early.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Why?
- 16:01Speaker 2: Longer enjoyment of decor. More time for photos, videos, and gathering.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Ideal for content creators and early planners. If it sounds
- 16:10Speaker 2: too early, they say go with a tradition. People like
- 16:12Speaker 2: to wait until after Thanksgiving, usually. to put up their
- 16:16Speaker 2: Christmas decorations.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I feel like 10 or 20 years ago, I would
- 16:19Speaker 1: have said this is way too early, but the way
- 16:20Speaker 1: life moves so fast, I feel like you should put
- 16:23Speaker 1: them up today because you'll be taking them down next week.
- 16:26Speaker 1: It's going to feel like, you know?
- 16:28Speaker 7: More Cubby and Christine and the great music variety you
- 16:30Speaker 7: expect next on Light FM.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Hey, let's give away Harry Styles tickets. 106.7 Light FM.
- 16:36Speaker 1: It's Cubby and Christine in the morning. We got producer
- 16:37Speaker 1: Kristen producing in the background. In fact, she's got this
- 16:41Speaker 1: whole thing orchestrated. She's got things ready to go. Buttons
- 16:44Speaker 1: pushed through. right way so the last couple of weeks
- 16:47Speaker 1: we've been saying hey you can win harry styles tickets
- 16:50Speaker 1: if you do this one thing and what were the
- 16:52Speaker 1: instructions if you don't mind like recalling this yeah uh.
- 16:56Speaker 2: You listen to us right 106.7 light fm on the
- 16:59Speaker 2: free iheart radio app and that's where you find the
- 17:02Speaker 2: talkback microphone you'll see it you tap that you tell
- 17:05Speaker 2: us why you need to see harry styles you hit
- 17:09Speaker 2: send that submits your talkback message and then you're entered
- 17:12Speaker 2: for a chance to win.
- 17:13Speaker 1: And when you hit send, it shows up on our
- 17:15Speaker 1: computer right here and we're able to listen to them.
- 17:18Speaker 1: And we've listened to a ton of them. And I'd
- 17:21Speaker 1: like to play you one that we received and then
- 17:23Speaker 1: try to get that person on the phone and tell
- 17:26Speaker 1: him or her some good news. So here is a
- 17:29Speaker 1: talkback that we got when you hit send.
- 17:32Speaker 5: Hi, my name is Debra Novak, and I really would
- 17:35Speaker 5: love to win those Harry Styles tickets for my daughter,
- 17:38Speaker 5: who's been really sick lately and had to cancel two
- 17:41Speaker 5: shows she was supposed to go to. She's finally feeling
- 17:44Speaker 5: better and really hoping we would get tickets. We've been
- 17:48Speaker 5: trying so desperately. All of our funds are pretty much depleted.
- 17:54Speaker 5: So this would really be great.
- 17:56Speaker 4: Really, really, really great.
- 17:58Speaker 5: Hopefully we can get them. Thank you.
- 18:00Speaker 1: So that is the talkback that we got on the
- 18:02Speaker 1: iHeartRadio app from Debra. Now let's try to call her.
- 18:09Speaker 5: Hello?
- 18:09Speaker 1: Is this Debra?
- 18:11Speaker 3: Yes, it is.
- 18:11Speaker 1: I'm sorry to bother you. It's Cubby and Christine from
- 18:14Speaker 1: Light FM. We got your talkback on the iHeartRadio app.
- 18:17Speaker 5: Are you serious?
- 18:18Speaker 2: Yes. You said that you wanted to take your daughter
- 18:21Speaker 2: to see Harry Styles. I guess you guys tried a
- 18:23Speaker 2: couple times and she wasn't feeling well and you missed
- 18:25Speaker 2: your opportunity.
- 18:26Speaker 5: Yes. Yes.
- 18:27Speaker 1: You mentioned her funds are pretty much depleted. What, she
- 18:30Speaker 1: spent all her money? Pretty much, yeah. On this ticket.
- 18:34Speaker 4: And then we couldn't go, so.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Oh, so she was planning to go see Harry Styles. Right.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Got under the weather. And this happened twice? Yeah.
- 18:42Speaker 5: And actually, she's still not feeling 100%, but she's determined, so.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Oh, you think she'd be up for going?
- 18:50Speaker 5: Definitely, yes.
- 18:52Speaker 1: We have two tickets for you.
- 18:53Speaker 6: We do.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Harry Styles, Madison Square Garden. What's your daughter's name?
- 18:57Speaker 2: It's Casey.
- 18:58Speaker 6: Casey.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Yes, we wanted to give you the Harry Styles tickets.
- 19:02Speaker 2: And so I hope you guys can do this. That
- 19:04Speaker 2: would be awesome.
- 19:05Speaker 5: Oh, my God. She's going to be so happy.
- 19:07Speaker 4: This is going to make her feel so much better.
- 19:09Speaker 1: I would say, can we get her on the phone?
- 19:11Speaker 1: But is she at school?
- 19:13Speaker 5: No, she's actually in bed sleeping.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Oh, poor thing. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Hopefully then, you know, you guys are able, you've got
- 19:20Speaker 2: some options in choosing a date and then choose a
- 19:23Speaker 2: later date, you know, to give yourself more time.
- 19:25Speaker 1: We'll make it work. Yeah. We're not even at October yet,
- 19:28Speaker 1: so you're good. Well, listen, congratulations. Please, when she wakes up,
- 19:31Speaker 1: tell her the great news. And thank you for taking
- 19:33Speaker 1: the time to leave that talk back for us.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I really appreciate it. Thank you.
- 19:37Speaker 1: All right, hold on. That makes me feel really good, actually. Yes.
- 19:40Speaker 1: And we're going to do it next week as well.
- 19:43Speaker 1: I believe next week and the week after. Okay, So
- 19:45Speaker 1: if you're a Harry Styles fan, just leave a message
- 19:48Speaker 1: and click on that microphone. Yeah.
- 19:50Speaker 7: Your chance to win more Covey and Christine and the
- 19:53Speaker 7: great music variety you expect next on light FM.
- 19:57Speaker 1: If you're Tyler, the woman behind that song, Chanel, when
- 20:00Speaker 1: Chanel heard that song. Oh yeah. Do you think they
- 20:03Speaker 1: just boxed up a bunch of stuff and just sent
- 20:04Speaker 1: it to her?
- 20:05Speaker 2: I would. If I were Chanel, I'd be like, here,
- 20:07Speaker 2: thank you. I mean, they're doing okay.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Her follow-up hit, Coach, comes out next month. She's going
- 20:17Speaker 1: to do all Burberry.
- 20:18Speaker 2: You're kind of all over the.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Deal, but yes. Okay, it's 106.7 Light FM. Let's do
- 20:24Speaker 1: a flashback track today on a flashback Friday. I'm going
- 20:27Speaker 1: to play you a clip of a 90s song. I'm
- 20:29Speaker 1: giving you a hint. It's from the 90s.
- 20:32Speaker 2: I'm still laughing.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Okay. Thank you. And tell me the title and artist
- 20:36Speaker 1: of this song, okay? Going back to the 90s. It's
- 20:41Speaker 1: one of my favorites.
- 20:42Speaker 3: Cubby. I know.
- 20:42Speaker 6: It's barely anything.
- 20:44Speaker 1: But if you're a true fan of the 90s. Okay.
- 20:47Speaker 1: You'll know it. Although you are. Actually, I take that
- 20:49Speaker 1: back because you're a true fan of the 90s. Yeah.
- 20:51Speaker 1: And you don't know it. You don't know it? Really?
- 20:53Speaker 2: I don't think I know it. Go again.
- 20:58Speaker 1: All right, I'll give you a hint.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 20:59Speaker 1: Today's National One Hit Wonder Day. Uh-huh. They are not
- 21:02Speaker 1: a one hit wonder.
- 21:02Speaker 5: Oh.
- 21:03Speaker 1: They had like three songs. I'm also not a DJ.
- 21:08Speaker 1: One more time. You think we'll have a tough time
- 21:12Speaker 1: with this? Okay.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Maybe not. Other people are way quicker than me.
- 21:18Speaker 4: 1-800-222-1067.
- 21:18Speaker 1: More Cubby and Christine.
- 21:21Speaker 7: And the great music variety you expect. Next on Light FM.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Good morning. It's Cubby and Christine. Happy Friday. It's 106.7
- 21:27Speaker 1: Light FM. We're doing a flashback track today for Journey Tickets.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Can you identify this song, title, and artist? Line four.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Here's the clip. Hi, Light FM. Do you know the
- 21:39Speaker 1: title and artist of that?
- 21:40Speaker 2: P.M.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Dawn, Set A Drift Memory, Bliss of You.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Yay!
- 21:45Speaker 1: Whoa!
- 21:46Speaker 2: Amazing.
- 21:47Speaker 1: No, I won't defend Christine here. It is kind of
- 21:49Speaker 1: a deep cut, Christine.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 21:51Speaker 1: But we got a winner here. What's your name? Kim. Kim,
- 21:54Speaker 1: where are you from?
- 21:55Speaker 5: Scotch Plains, New Jersey.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Kim is off to Journey.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Yes, you're going to go see Journey Saturday, October 25th
- 22:02Speaker 2: at Prudential Center. Tickets available now at Ticketmaster.com. But, Kim,
- 22:07Speaker 2: you've got yourself a pair. Good job. Thank you.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Here we go. Our flashback track from 1991, P.M. Dawn,
- 22:13Speaker 1: Set Adrift on Memory Bliss, which samples Spandau Ballet, True,
- 22:18Speaker 1: on what station? Light FM.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Woo-hoo!
- 22:23Speaker 7: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 22:27Speaker 7: Next on Light FM.
- 22:29Speaker 1: 106.7 Light FM. It's Cubby and Christine. It's National One-Hit
- 22:31Speaker 1: Wonder Day.
- 22:32Speaker 2: It is.
- 22:32Speaker 1: And I just want to defend P.M. Dawn. because they
- 22:35Speaker 1: are not, I repeat, not a one-hit wonder. They had
- 22:38Speaker 1: that hit. They had a tune called Looking Through Patient Eyes,
- 22:41Speaker 1: which sampled Father Figure by George Michael. That was a
- 22:44Speaker 1: big one. And they had a ballad that was really
- 22:46Speaker 1: good called I Die Without You, and that was from
- 22:48Speaker 1: the Boomerang soundtrack, all early 90s. But, Christine, it is
- 22:53Speaker 1: National One-Hit Wonder Day. Let's talk about some one-hit wonders
- 22:56Speaker 1: right now. And we're going to go back to the
- 22:58Speaker 1: 80s for this one, right?
- 22:59Speaker 2: They're all from the 80s, Cubby. I mean, this is
- 23:01Speaker 2: right up your alley.
- 23:02Speaker 1: I love one-hit wonders.
- 23:03Speaker 2: I know you do. So these are considered the 10
- 23:06Speaker 2: best one-hit wonders, according to Ranker.com. Coming in at number 10.
- 23:10Speaker 2: You got it.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Play that funky music.
- 23:15Speaker 1: By Wild Cherry. Yeah. A guaranteed dance floor packer if
- 23:24Speaker 1: you're doing a wedding reception.
- 23:25Speaker 2: I just want to stay on this show.
- 23:28Speaker 1: I know. We're only at number 10. I know.
- 23:31Speaker 2: I know.
- 23:31Speaker 1: We're having fun. I know.
- 23:33Speaker 2: There's not enough time.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Play that funky music. Okay. I love that one. All right.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Coming in at number 9, 99 Luft Balloons.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Okay. There are two versions. There are two versions. There are.
- 23:44Speaker 1: They put Luft Balloons, not Red Balloons, at number 9.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Luft Balloons. By the way, my wife, she prefers that version.
- 24:06Speaker 1: She lived in Germany for many years. Yeah. And she said,
- 24:09Speaker 1: even to this day, they play that song like every hour.
- 24:11Speaker 2: She can also sing along.
- 24:13Speaker 1: And she knows all the words. Yes. I don't, right?
- 24:15Speaker 1: All right.
- 24:16Speaker 2: That's by Nina.
- 24:16Speaker 1: That's number nine?
- 24:17Speaker 2: Yes. Coming in at number eight, I'm going to be
- 24:19Speaker 2: 500 Miles, The Proclaimers.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Which, actually, people think it's 90s, because it was in
- 24:26Speaker 1: the Benny and June soundtrack. Oh, yeah, you're right. In
- 24:28Speaker 1: like 91 or 92, but this song came out in 1988. Five. Hey,
- 24:33Speaker 1: I know I'm going to be, I'm going to be
- 24:36Speaker 1: the man who's giving to you. All right, that's I
- 24:40Speaker 1: Will Walk. It didn't get to the hook on that one.
- 24:42Speaker 1: These are so fun. I Will Walk.
- 24:44Speaker 6: I know, I know.
- 24:45Speaker 2: I just want to go with all of them. All right,
- 24:46Speaker 2: coming in at number seven, My Sharona.
- 24:49Speaker 1: I Will Walk. This sounds like I recorded it off
- 25:01Speaker 1: the radio. It does.
- 25:03Speaker 2: It does. And that was in Reality Bites, like that.
- 25:05Speaker 2: So again, like 90s brought it back. Number six, Video
- 25:09Speaker 2: Killed the Radio Star.
- 25:11Speaker 6: Video killed the radio star.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Video killed the radio star. In my mind and in
- 25:20Speaker 1: my car, we can't rewind, we've gone too far. Yeah,
- 25:25Speaker 1: The Buggles, great song.
- 25:26Speaker 2: These are such great songs.
- 25:27Speaker 1: What number are we at now?
- 25:28Speaker 2: Now we're coming in at number five.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Number five.
- 25:30Speaker 2: 8-6-7-5-3-0-9-9. Danny, I got your number. I need to make
- 25:36Speaker 2: you mine.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Tommy Two-Tone. Danny, don't change your number. 8-6-7-5-3-0-9-9.
- 25:47Speaker 4: 8-6-7-5-3-0-9-9.
- 25:48Speaker 1: So my sister, her name is Jenny. And if you
- 25:51Speaker 1: go back to her yearbook from the 80s, she was
- 25:53Speaker 1: a senior in high school. And that song was, like,
- 25:57Speaker 1: huge when she was a senior in high school.
- 25:59Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 25:59Speaker 1: So her yearbook is filled with signatures saying, I know
- 26:01Speaker 1: where to find you. Eight, six, seven, five. People put
- 26:04Speaker 1: their phone number and put K-I-T, keep in touch. So, yeah,
- 26:07Speaker 1: Tommy Two-Tone at number five.
- 26:10Speaker 2: All right, coming in at number four, Spirit in the Sky.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Remember this song? By Norman Greenbaum. This is, I think
- 26:17Speaker 1: you might recognize it. It's a deep cut, but it's
- 26:18Speaker 1: number four on the One Hit Wonder list.
- 26:20Speaker 6: That's a good question.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Is that going further back? That's going further back than
- 26:38Speaker 2: the 80s?
- 26:39Speaker 1: Is this 80s? I got to double check that.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Or is that 70s?
- 26:41Speaker 1: Okay. All right.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Please make a note of it. We'll look into it.
- 26:44Speaker 1: All right.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Number three. Come on, Eileen.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Dexy's Midnight Runners. And his overalls. Look at that video. Oshkosh.
- 27:02Speaker 1: All right, we have two more one-hit wonders to go.
- 27:06Speaker 1: What are people liking here?
- 27:07Speaker 2: Number two, Tainted Love. Tainted Love.
- 27:12Speaker 1: This would be Soft Cell. Sometimes I feel I've got
- 27:16Speaker 1: to run away.
- 27:19Speaker 6: I've got to get away from the pain you drive into.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Great song. So that's number two. Now, according to Ranker.com, Christine,
- 27:29Speaker 1: what is the number one one-hit wonder fave?
- 27:33Speaker 2: Take On Me. Uh-huh.
- 27:34Speaker 7: Take on me.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Possibly.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Possibly. one of the best videos of all time. I
- 27:42Speaker 1: still think it holds up. Now we're all Break out
- 27:52Speaker 1: of that cartoon. I know.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Break out of that cartoon.
- 27:55Speaker 1: We're ready for a best of the 80s weekend and
- 27:57Speaker 1: 90s weekend.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Seriously, you should throw a one-hit wonder party because that
- 28:01Speaker 2: was such a fun playlist.
- 28:03Speaker 1: I know. Great songs. And some of these groups, I'm like,
- 28:05Speaker 1: I can't believe they only had one hit. Yeah. A-Ha
- 28:08Speaker 1: had a couple in Europe, but that was, Take On
- 28:10Speaker 1: Me was by far their biggest here in America. But
- 28:12Speaker 1: that was fun. What's your favorite one-hit wonder? You can
- 28:15Speaker 1: text us.
- 28:16Speaker 7: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 28:19Speaker 7: Next on Light FM.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Friday, everybody. It's 106.7 Light FM. Cubby and Christine in
- 28:24Speaker 1: the morning. We have a long distance phone call, Christine.
- 28:27Speaker 1: We do.
- 28:27Speaker 2: Direct to Hollywood and our friend Harry Medved from the
- 28:29Speaker 2: Cinema Foundation. Good morning, Harry.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Hey, Cubby. Hey, Christine. Good morning.
- 28:34Speaker 5: Morning.
- 28:34Speaker 2: So you're going to let us know what's new in
- 28:36Speaker 2: theaters this weekend?
- 28:38Speaker 3: Well, I'll tell you what's new is that there's something
- 28:39Speaker 3: for everyone this weekend.
- 28:40Speaker 4: You've got three big movies that are opening.
- 28:43Speaker 3: One of them is actually a re-release, which is Avengers
- 28:46Speaker 3: Endgame in Infinity Vision. So people are going to go
- 28:49Speaker 3: back and see that film, even though they've already seen
- 28:51Speaker 3: it because they're preparing for, of course, Avengers Doomsday. That
- 28:55Speaker 3: could be the number one film of the weekend. But
- 28:56Speaker 3: the other two are Heart of the Beast with Brad
- 28:58Speaker 3: Pitt and An Incredible Dog. and Prime Time with Robert Pattinson.
- 29:03Speaker 3: And about the Brad Pitt movie, people were saying, you know,
- 29:06Speaker 3: this film, I think it was Stephen Elliott at the time,
- 29:08Speaker 3: Alan said it features an incredibly daring hunk with a
- 29:12Speaker 3: great mane of hair and soulful eyes. They said, but
- 29:14Speaker 3: enough about the dog. Let's talk about Brad Pitt. The
- 29:18Speaker 3: dog is really the star of this film. He completely
- 29:20Speaker 3: steals every scene. It's a survival tale of this special
- 29:23Speaker 3: forces fighter who is trapped with his combat dog in
- 29:27Speaker 3: the wilds of Alaska. And I'll tell you, the CGI
- 29:30Speaker 3: on this is pretty amazing because it is a beautiful
- 29:33Speaker 3: survival tale.
- 29:34Speaker 1: It's a beautiful film.
- 29:35Speaker 4: I don't know how they did it, but definitely worth
- 29:37Speaker 4: seeing up on the big screen. And prime time is...
- 29:40Speaker 4: is pretty much of a.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Dark thriller with comic overtones with Robert Pattinson. Hard to
- 29:44Speaker 3: believe it's been 18 years since this guy... Came up
- 29:47Speaker 3: on the scene in Twilight, but boy, what a year
- 29:49Speaker 3: Robert Pattinson has had, right?
- 29:51Speaker 4: I mean, in The Odyssey and the drama, and he's
- 29:54Speaker 4: going to be in Dune 3 coming up in a
- 29:56Speaker 4: few weeks, which I'm seeing next week.
- 29:58Speaker 3: It's a crazy year for Robert Pattinson, but he has
- 30:00Speaker 3: turned into such a great villain.
- 30:02Speaker 4: I never thought the guy had it in him. But
- 30:05Speaker 4: he's wonderful, of course, in the Odyssey, and he's terrific
- 30:07Speaker 4: in this one, too.
- 30:08Speaker 3: But what I'm also excited about is New Jersey is
- 30:11Speaker 3: definitely having a moment on the big screen. First of all,
- 30:14Speaker 3: you know, my friends at the Cranford Theatre in Cranford,
- 30:16Speaker 3: New Jersey, they're going to be celebrating their 100th year
- 30:19Speaker 3: anniversary on November 9th. So hopefully I'll be in New
- 30:21Speaker 3: York and we'll see you guys if you guys have
- 30:23Speaker 3: time on that date.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Yeah. Wonderful.
- 30:25Speaker 3: And there's two big movies that I just saw in Toronto.
- 30:28Speaker 3: that are going to be playing there because they're both
- 30:30Speaker 3: shot in New Jersey. One is I Play Rocky, which
- 30:33Speaker 3: is the story of how the movie Rocky was made
- 30:37Speaker 3: with a brand new guy playing Sylvester Stallone.
- 30:40Speaker 1: It's terrific.
- 30:41Speaker 4: Shot in New Jersey.
- 30:42Speaker 3: The other one I saw in Toronto is called The Debut,
- 30:46Speaker 3: written and directed by Jesse Eisenberg and starring Julianne Moore
- 30:49Speaker 3: and Paul Giamatti about a housewife who wants to become
- 30:53Speaker 3: an actress in New Jersey and It takes place a
- 30:56Speaker 3: while back. It's fantastic. Julianne Moore just knocks it out
- 31:00Speaker 3: of the park. And she is without a doubt going
- 31:03Speaker 3: to be the front runner for best actress at the Oscars.
- 31:05Speaker 1: I think.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Wow.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:06Speaker 2: I did see a preview and it looks really, really wonderful.
- 31:09Speaker 4: Oh, it's so up your alley. It's a musical too. It's, it's,
- 31:12Speaker 4: it's fun. You know, it's about community theater players and
- 31:15Speaker 4: she's so good at playing so bad. It's hard to
- 31:18Speaker 4: be a a bad actor, but she, you know, makes,
- 31:21Speaker 4: she grows.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Paul Giamatti's the theater director who teaches her how to
- 31:24Speaker 3: put a little bit more oomph into her performance.
- 31:26Speaker 4: She's just terrific.
- 31:27Speaker 3: Also up for Best Actor that I saw in Toronto,
- 31:31Speaker 3: Andrew Scott playing Ian Charlson, the guy from Chariots of Fire,
- 31:36Speaker 3: who is sadly dying of AIDS in the 80s and
- 31:39Speaker 3: trying to hide it while he's playing Hamlet.
- 31:41Speaker 4: On the stage. It's a movie called Elsinore. Whoa. He's
- 31:44Speaker 4: absolutely amazing. Andrew Scott has never been nominated for an Oscar.
- 31:47Speaker 4: He should have had one.
- 31:48Speaker 2: He's so good.
- 31:48Speaker 4: A few years ago, and he is so good. And
- 31:51Speaker 4: this film has to be seen. It's called Elsinore.
- 31:53Speaker 6: Wow, okay.
- 31:54Speaker 4: For both his features. The same guys who did Hamlet
- 31:57Speaker 4: last year. So I think it's a tradition that every
- 31:58Speaker 4: year they're going to have a movie based on Hamlet
- 32:01Speaker 4: that will be up for the Oscars. I think they
- 32:02Speaker 4: had last year.
- 32:03Speaker 2: And they should win.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Yes, exactly.
- 32:06Speaker 3: I would just recommend, if you ever have a chance
- 32:08Speaker 3: to go to the Toronto Film Festival, it is the
- 32:11Speaker 3: best festival there is because it's so democratic.
- 32:14Speaker 4: Everyone can go. Any of these... There's no hierarchy there.
- 32:19Speaker 3: And you have movie stars standing in line with regular
- 32:22Speaker 3: people like me.
- 32:23Speaker 4: And it's just a hell of a lot of fun.
- 32:25Speaker 2: That sounds like a great experience. We'd love to do that.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Well, Harry, always a pleasure. Thank you so much. And
- 32:30Speaker 1: we'll see you at the movies.
- 32:31Speaker 4: Thanks so much, Cubby.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Thanks, Christy.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Thank you, Harry.
