Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back from the weekend. Hope you had a great weekend.
- 0:02Speaker 1: 106.7 Light FM is on. Cubby, Christine, and Kristen, we
- 0:05Speaker 1: are back together kind of talking about our weekend. I
- 0:08Speaker 1: have 70 pumpkins in the backseat of my car if
- 0:10Speaker 1: you need them.
- 0:11Speaker 2: 70.
- 0:12Speaker 1: 70. Yes, but thankfully not the big ones. We bought
- 0:16Speaker 1: Miss Corinne, you know, the daycare director at Miles' Daycare.
- 0:19Speaker 1: She needed 70 pumpkins. They're the small, like, almost like
- 0:23Speaker 1: a little bigger than a softball. Okay. You know, they're
- 0:26Speaker 1: really small.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:27Speaker 1: And the kids will use them to paint on them. Oh, okay.
- 0:30Speaker 1: And she usually orders some from New Jersey, but we
- 0:33Speaker 1: have that little getaway home in PA. So we were
- 0:35Speaker 1: in Pennsylvania this weekend, and they're a lot cheaper there.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Oh, go for it.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Yeah. Only 55 bucks for 70 little small pumpkins.
- 0:42Speaker 2: That's good.
- 0:43Speaker 1: It's a good deal, right? So they're in the back
- 0:45Speaker 1: of the car right now, and I'll take them to
- 0:46Speaker 1: Miss Corinne later on today. But that was my weekend,
- 0:49Speaker 1: hanging out in PA and making sure my tire pressure
- 0:52Speaker 1: was okay.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Very important right now.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Did you get your ping on your car?
- 0:56Speaker 2: I didn't ping yet, but I also spent around 50
- 1:00Speaker 2: bucks this past weekend.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. So.
- 1:02Speaker 2: And it has to do with tires. Yes.
- 1:05Speaker 1: So you went to a brothel and when you were
- 1:07Speaker 1: driving to the brothel. OK, wait a minute. Hang on.
- 1:10Speaker 2: I sort of went to a brothel.
- 1:11Speaker 1: You went to a show involving a brothel, which we'll
- 1:13Speaker 1: get to in a second. But when you pulled in,
- 1:15Speaker 1: the guy noticed you had a flat tire.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Yes. So my friend Ann Sayre and I, right, we
- 1:21Speaker 2: go to see shows together all the time. We love it.
- 1:23Speaker 2: So we went to see Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen, which
- 1:28Speaker 2: is now playing off-Broadway at the Culture Club, which is, yeah,
- 1:32Speaker 2: a story about Colette in a brothel. And it's, you know,
- 1:36Speaker 2: it's really cool, Covey. You walk in there and you
- 1:38Speaker 2: feel like you're in a brothel.
- 1:40Speaker 1: You had me a brothel.
- 1:41Speaker 2: It's a cool setting.
- 1:42Speaker 1: I'm sold.
- 1:43Speaker 2: It's a great cast, Sophia and Caruso, like really wonderful cast,
- 1:46Speaker 2: really great show. The music is by Duncan Sheik. So
- 1:50Speaker 2: let me just say all that. So, you know, there's
- 1:52Speaker 2: a great show playing off Broadway. But when we pulled
- 1:55Speaker 2: into the parking garage and picked me up, we come
- 1:57Speaker 2: into New York City. They're like, miss, miss, as we're
- 2:00Speaker 2: walking away and we turn around, flat tire.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Well, at least it happened when you got there.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Thankfully, we made it to the parking garage, but flat
- 2:07Speaker 2: like pancake. I'm surprised she wasn't driving on her rim.
- 2:10Speaker 2: We're lucky we were there. So, the guys are discussing
- 2:14Speaker 2: amongst themselves, will they change this tire for us? Will
- 2:17Speaker 2: they offer to change it? And they do, and they're like, $ 50. Well, okay.
- 2:22Speaker 1: That doesn't sound too bad, actually.
- 2:25Speaker 2: They want $ 50 cash.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Because I'm thinking convenience at this point.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Like, they'll get it done while I'm at the show.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Yes, I know. I have AAA. I wanted to call AAA,
- 2:37Speaker 2: and she's right. Who knows how long we would be there.
- 2:39Speaker 1: It could take a while.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Right, and we wanted to get into the show, and
- 2:42Speaker 2: then you just want to get home.
- 2:43Speaker 1: And what if they need you while you're at the show?
- 2:45Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, that's true. Yeah, yeah, you've got to be there.
- 2:48Speaker 2: You've got to be there with them. I happened to
- 2:52Speaker 2: go to the ATM. I had $ 60 cash, which they took.
- 2:55Speaker 2: And then I'm like, can I get change, please?
- 2:58Speaker 1: Getting money for the brothel.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Can I please? Yes, exactly. Can I get that in singles?
- 3:03Speaker 2: Which is not the same thing as singles for a brothel.
- 3:06Speaker 2: But it took a lot for me to just say,
- 3:10Speaker 2: to get the $ 10 back. They really didn't want me
- 3:14Speaker 2: to have that.
- 3:14Speaker 1: They wanted to pocket the extra $ 10. The $ 60.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Like, yeah, let us just keep it. And it's like, dude,
- 3:18Speaker 2: this is already for me. Kind of an expensive eating.
- 3:22Speaker 2: So they changed it, thankfully, and got home safely on
- 3:25Speaker 2: her donut. Oh. I have to check with her. I
- 3:28Speaker 2: don't know what happened with the original tire. Because we
- 3:31Speaker 2: never just added air or anything to see how it was.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Right. It might be able to be used again.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Yeah, hopefully.
- 3:36Speaker 1: And maybe they discarded it.
- 3:37Speaker 2: They could save it. So you don't think we got
- 3:40Speaker 2: ripped off? Because I felt like 50 bucks was steep.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I personally don't. Producer Kristen, do you think she got
- 3:46Speaker 1: ripped off?
- 3:46Speaker 2: No.
- 3:47Speaker 1: She says no, too. Because, again, it's back to convenience. Like,
- 3:50Speaker 1: they happen to notice it. They said they'll take care
- 3:52Speaker 1: of it. I'd be like, all right, just, you know,
- 3:55Speaker 1: I don't want to worry about it. Just take care
- 3:56Speaker 1: of it. That's what I would think. But if I
- 3:59Speaker 1: was at home in my driveway.
- 4:00Speaker 2: And I had time, I'd be like, yeah.
- 4:03Speaker 1: AAA and all that. But did Christine get ripped off? 44363.
- 4:08Speaker 1: And check your tire pressure. Again, with this cold weather, again,
- 4:13Speaker 1: if you had, like, say, a 42 PSI, it's probably
- 4:15Speaker 1: a 36 PSI now. It goes down in this cold weather.
- 4:18Speaker 1: It heats up a little bit when you're driving, but
- 4:21Speaker 1: there's a higher risk of flat tires with that first
- 4:24Speaker 1: cold burst of the season.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Don't be like Anne and me.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Don't be like Anne and Christine. And hit us up
- 4:28Speaker 1: on text. We're available. What are you up to these days?
- 4:31Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 4:37Speaker 2: I need to tell you two things.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Cubby and Christine's.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Two pretty cool things.
- 4:43Speaker 1: You want to give the kids Halloween costumes a practice run? Well,
- 4:46Speaker 1: Boo at the Zoo is happening at the Bronx Zoo
- 4:49Speaker 1: on weekends through November 1st, including this Saturday and Sunday,
- 4:54Speaker 1: October 24th and 25th. There's a candy trail, costume parades,
- 4:58Speaker 1: pumpkin carving demonstrations, a new animal-inspired hay maze challenge course.
- 5:04Speaker 1: The Halloween activities are included with zoo admission at the
- 5:08Speaker 1: Bronx Zoo.
- 5:09Speaker 2: That is so cute. I love that.
- 5:11Speaker 1: And we've got some good weather for that, too.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Oh, nice.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Nice stretch of sunshine and cool temperatures. Hey, what is
- 5:16Speaker 1: your cool thing?
- 5:16Speaker 2: It's never going to hit 80 again.
- 5:18Speaker 1: It's never going to hit 80 degrees this year.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Okay. Running gag. Sorry. This is great news. Chocolate may
- 5:24Speaker 2: be the key to better exercise.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Well, I better hit the gym.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Take it. Let's go. This new study from the Frontiers
- 5:31Speaker 2: in Physiology says that simply smelling chocolate while exercising adds
- 5:36Speaker 2: more reps. How about eating it? Yes. But even a
- 5:39Speaker 2: whiff of chocolate made people who were working out do
- 5:43Speaker 2: more repetitions and not even feel it. Like they weren't
- 5:47Speaker 2: complaining that they were exercising harder. Dark chocolate created the
- 5:51Speaker 2: best results by double and bonus made them feel less hungry.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Well, I can't make fun of Planet Fitness anymore because
- 5:58Speaker 1: when I did go to Planet Fitness back in the day,
- 6:01Speaker 1: I noticed they had M & Ms right when you
- 6:03Speaker 1: walked out of the place.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Oh.
- 6:04Speaker 1: I'm like, that's funny. They have chocolates. at a place
- 6:07Speaker 1: you're about to work out.
- 6:08Speaker 2: But maybe on the way in is the key. Have
- 6:10Speaker 2: them on the way in rather than out.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Yes. Get your boost.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Light FM.
- 6:14Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 6:18Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 6:19Speaker 1: We need some coffee. 106.7 Light FM. We're waking up though.
- 6:22Speaker 1: It's Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen. I just warmed up coffee
- 6:26Speaker 1: number two for the morning. Had one on the way in.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Yes.
- 6:30Speaker 1: And I get all my coffee for free at home
- 6:32Speaker 1: and then here. Oh. You have your coffee cart guy.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Yes, Carlos.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Yes. But there's a debate online if just, you know,
- 6:40Speaker 1: coffee places like stores, like a Starbucks or whatever. Yep.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Do they open up early enough?
- 6:44Speaker 2: This is like it's going viral on social media. The
- 6:48Speaker 2: country is divided, Cubby.
- 6:49Speaker 1: So is there like a.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Do coffee shops open early enough? Some people say yes.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Some people say uh-uh.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Do they give out like a time that most open
- 6:57Speaker 1: or are we just guessing here? Because I just go
- 6:58Speaker 1: by the... There's a Starbucks two blocks away from here,
- 7:01Speaker 1: and they don't open until 5 a.m. And to me,
- 7:03Speaker 1: I think that's kind of late for New York City Midtown.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Because we're already here. You know, when we're walking into
- 7:08Speaker 2: our building, there's people going to the gym next door.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Correct.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Like, we're not the only ones who are up this
- 7:13Speaker 2: early and we need our coffee.
- 7:14Speaker 1: And there's other coffee places that are not open yet.
- 7:17Speaker 2: They're not open.
- 7:18Speaker 1: That's why the coffee cart guys are winning.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Yes, they are.
- 7:21Speaker 1: They're like, yes.
- 7:21Speaker 2: They're set up. They're out there. So very happy to
- 7:23Speaker 2: see them. I mean, yeah, you know, I guess it
- 7:26Speaker 2: depends on where you are in the country because some
- 7:28Speaker 2: people are complaining their coffee shops don't open until 9 a.m.,
- 7:30Speaker 2: which sounds crazy.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Where are you living?
- 7:34Speaker 2: Do you want business?
- 7:35Speaker 3: Montana?
- 7:36Speaker 2: I know. But yeah, I mean, how do you find it?
- 7:40Speaker 2: Do you think? Coffee shops, I think in general, I'm
- 7:42Speaker 2: trying to think of like my New Jersey ones, were
- 7:44Speaker 2: never home during the week. So I'm not sure. I
- 7:48Speaker 2: think 6 a.m.? I think.
- 7:50Speaker 1: For like your home?
- 7:51Speaker 2: For like bagel places and coffee shops near me. Yeah.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Which wouldn't be early enough, obviously.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Right. I know one of the bagel places that has
- 7:58Speaker 1: coffee is 6 o'clock in Milltown, New Jersey. I pass
- 8:02Speaker 1: that a lot. That seems late to me, too.
- 8:03Speaker 2: That seems late.
- 8:04Speaker 1: But again, Milltown, East Brunswick, where I live, that area
- 8:08Speaker 1: is still considered kind of small. Yeah.
- 8:11Speaker 2: What about, like, do you pass any 24-hour break glass
- 8:15Speaker 2: emergency Dunkin' Donuts or Wawa or something?
- 8:18Speaker 1: There's a Dunkin' in Milltown. I mention Milltown a lot
- 8:21Speaker 1: because I drive through there on the way to work.
- 8:23Speaker 1: There's a Dunkin' in Milltown that used to be 24-7.
- 8:26Speaker 1: And about four years ago, during the pandemic, they started
- 8:30Speaker 1: opening at 6. Oh, yeah. And I think they're still
- 8:32Speaker 1: 6 because I drive by it and it's dark. Yeah,
- 8:34Speaker 1: a lot of 4.
- 8:35Speaker 2: I feel like that happened a lot after the pandemic.
- 8:38Speaker 2: A lot of 24-7 places are no longer 24-7.
- 8:41Speaker 1: But I feel like we're in an earlier state now
- 8:43Speaker 1: in the last couple of years. I feel like everything, like,
- 8:46Speaker 1: for example, the Lincoln Tunnel, you said, has an hour
- 8:47Speaker 1: delay right now. Yeah. I feel like everyone's getting up earlier.
- 8:51Speaker 2: It does. No, I think so.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Are they trying to get a jump start?
- 8:53Speaker 2: I think people are trying to get a jump start.
- 8:55Speaker 2: I think they're on to, like, if you can get
- 8:57Speaker 2: out there early, because on the weekends, like, even grocery
- 9:00Speaker 2: shopping and everything, if you went early, nobody was there,
- 9:02Speaker 2: but it's now, like, Oh, they're on to us. Like
- 9:05Speaker 2: if you get up early, you can beat the crowds
- 9:08Speaker 2: because we are just overcrowded.
- 9:10Speaker 1: You know, and people are doing dinner earlier. We've done
- 9:13Speaker 1: stories about that. Yes. Which we're fans.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Although that was like that was our time. 4 p.m. dinner.
- 9:18Speaker 1: You know, everyone's doing everybody's.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Got to now get a table at 4 p.m.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 9:23Speaker 2: But how do you feel like where do you land
- 9:25Speaker 2: on the coffee debate? Do you think our coffee shops
- 9:27Speaker 2: need to open earlier?
- 9:28Speaker 1: Yeah, 44363. Hit us up on text.
- 9:31Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Don't drive down this road. Light FM. Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen.
- 9:40Speaker 1: I know you do the traffic report sometimes, Christine. Anything
- 9:44Speaker 1: going on on Clinton Road at the moment in Passaic County?
- 9:48Speaker 2: Should I do the haunted traffic report?
- 9:51Speaker 1: So what's up with Clinton Road, a 10-mile stretch that
- 9:54Speaker 1: runs north to south in New Jersey's Passaic County?
- 9:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it's specifically in West Milford. It is the country's
- 10:02Speaker 2: most haunted road. Don't you love these studies? Again, always
- 10:08Speaker 2: around Halloween we get this kind of stuff.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I get many goosebumps. I really do.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Well, apparently if you drive on this road, legend has it,
- 10:16Speaker 2: you will see a ghost boy. It's called Dead Man's Curve.
- 10:21Speaker 2: If you toss a coin off the bridge, the ghost
- 10:23Speaker 2: will toss it back. Drivers have also reported ghost lights,
- 10:28Speaker 2: phantom cars, strange creatures, and other unexplained sightings. Also, it
- 10:35Speaker 2: goes through isolated woods where a serial killer is said
- 10:38Speaker 2: to have dumped a body back in the 80s.
- 10:40Speaker 1: This is all on Clinton Road.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Just one little road.
- 10:44Speaker 1: What if someone's on there right now in this very second?
- 10:47Speaker 2: A 10-mile stretch that goes through the woods? That's, like,
- 10:49Speaker 2: creepy enough.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:51Speaker 2: You know?
- 10:51Speaker 1: No streetlights. None of that.
- 10:53Speaker 2: You must report back, please. 44363.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Or me.
- 10:55Speaker 2: If you know this.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Maybe your radio's getting staticky right now.
- 10:58Speaker 2: I know. That supposedly happened to someone when we were
- 11:01Speaker 2: talking about, you know, the doll Annabelle last week.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Oh, you told me that.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Radio, yes.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Somebody texted in about that.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Uh-huh. That as we were talking about her. The radio
- 11:10Speaker 2: got all fuzzy, the volume dropped, and she said, I
- 11:13Speaker 2: didn't touch it. And then when you guys stopped talking
- 11:15Speaker 2: about her, sound came back.
- 11:17Speaker 1: You know, it's spooky season for sure. I would love
- 11:20Speaker 1: to hear from you guys at 44363 if you know
- 11:22Speaker 1: anything about Clinton Road, if you've heard this. I know
- 11:24Speaker 1: producer Kristen, she's a big fan of the book Weird
- 11:27Speaker 1: New Jersey.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 11:28Speaker 1: And that's been in there along with The Devil's Tree.
- 11:31Speaker 1: People bring that up. Where is The Devil's Tree? Martinsville. Martinsville,
- 11:36Speaker 1: New Jersey.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't really know that area.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Something about a tree where just weird things have happened.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Okay.
- 11:42Speaker 1: And you don't want to get near the tree or
- 11:43Speaker 1: you'll be cursed or something like that.
- 11:45Speaker 2: I think there's a lot. I remember, wasn't there a
- 11:47Speaker 2: road in New Jersey, like, if you went up, you
- 11:50Speaker 2: would roll back down for some reason? I remember talking
- 11:54Speaker 2: about that.
- 11:54Speaker 1: That sounds familiar. You're right, you're right. You know what's
- 11:56Speaker 1: really scary? The Lincoln Tunnel inbound and outbound. Yeah. You
- 11:59Speaker 1: know what's really scary? The Holland Tunnel. You know what's
- 12:01Speaker 1: scary as hell is George Washington Bridge. Anything where there's congestion.
- 12:07Speaker 2: It just, yes.
- 12:08Speaker 1: It's just downright scary.
- 12:09Speaker 2: The level of stress is ridiculous. But yeah. So, yeah,
- 12:12Speaker 2: would you rather be stuck in traffic or driving on
- 12:15Speaker 2: a haunted road?
- 12:16Speaker 1: On Clinton Road. Hit us up.
- 12:18Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 12:23Speaker 1: 6.58 Monday morning and Christine Nagy has everything you need
- 12:26Speaker 1: to know. Good morning, Christine.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Good morning, Cubby. And I know we're off to a
- 12:29Speaker 2: frosty start this morning and New Jersey drivers are being
- 12:32Speaker 2: warned to look out for deer activity and increase in
- 12:36Speaker 2: activity because it's the time of year when they're looking
- 12:39Speaker 2: for a mate. And I did see them. out on
- 12:41Speaker 2: the sides of the road this morning, so please, please
- 12:43Speaker 2: be careful. Russian President Vladimir Putin suggesting a summit with
- 12:48Speaker 2: President Trump and Chinese leader Xi to negotiate ending Moscow's
- 12:54Speaker 2: war in Ukraine. The summit would seemingly exclude Ukrainian President Zelensky.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Trump reportedly hasn't agreed to it as of yet. Early
- 13:03Speaker 2: voting is up and running across several states right now.
- 13:06Speaker 2: We're a couple of weeks away from midterm elections. Pope
- 13:09Speaker 2: Leo back at Vatican City. He gave Sunday blessings at St.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Peter's Square. This is after he had surgery removing a
- 13:16Speaker 2: lung tumor earlier this week. That's pretty quick. He looked really,
- 13:21Speaker 2: really good. An expedition searching for Amelia Earhart's missing airplane
- 13:27Speaker 2: has come up empty-handed. I know we were kind of
- 13:29Speaker 2: following this in the news, Cubby. This was an island
- 13:31Speaker 2: in the South Pacific.
- 13:32Speaker 1: We thought we were close.
- 13:33Speaker 2: It was a large collection of trees. It wasn't wreckage.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I really thought they were on to something when I
- 13:40Speaker 1: saw that story.
- 13:40Speaker 2: I know. So it still remains a mystery. Medicare open
- 13:44Speaker 2: enrollment has begun. Millions of Americans have a chance to
- 13:46Speaker 2: review or change their coverage for 2027. And experts are saying,
- 13:50Speaker 2: please really look into it because things have changed a lot.
- 13:53Speaker 2: So you might want to switch things up. In sports,
- 13:56Speaker 2: Jets lost to the Patriots 26-19. Giants lost to the
- 13:58Speaker 2: Saints 34-27. Colts lost to the Titans 26-20.
- 14:04Speaker 1: So you kind of lost too.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Mine. Yeah, that was my pick. Tonight, Cubby, you're up.
- 14:10Speaker 2: 49ers play the Commanders. And Kristen is safe. Patriots beat
- 14:13Speaker 2: the Jets 26-19, as we said. So that was Kristen's pick. Okay.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Quirky cities in the U.S. Which cities would you say
- 14:22Speaker 2: march to the beat of their own drum? Austin, Texas
- 14:25Speaker 2: came up number one. They have a lot of outdoor
- 14:29Speaker 2: inclusive graffiti gallery, clothing optional parks, and a resident bat colony.
- 14:35Speaker 2: So they said that it's clear that Austin is not
- 14:37Speaker 2: your typical Texan city. Second on the weird quote-unquote city
- 14:41Speaker 2: list is Portland, Oregon, home of the World Naked Bike Ride.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Everything's naked.
- 14:45Speaker 2: It's followed by Santa Fe, New Mexico, New Orleans.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I was waiting for New Orleans because I know that's
- 14:52Speaker 1: your favorite place.
- 14:52Speaker 2: I love New Orleans. And San Francisco.
- 14:54Speaker 1: And no Nashville, though.
- 14:55Speaker 2: No Nashville, but these are considered the quirkiest cities. Maybe
- 14:59Speaker 2: Nashville's further down the list. I don't know, but I'll
- 15:02Speaker 2: take New Orleans, definitely. And I've yet to go to Austin.
- 15:05Speaker 2: I want to see Austin.
- 15:05Speaker 1: And we're doing that at the end of the year.
- 15:07Speaker 2: So nice.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Book a ticket. We're going to be there for your birthday.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Thank you. I don't want to go to the naked parks, though.
- 15:14Speaker 1: What? Live a little.
- 15:15Speaker 2: We know each other well enough.
- 15:17Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine and the great music variety you
- 15:20Speaker 3: expect next on Light FM.
- 15:22Speaker 1: All right, we're gearing up for a trivia battle. We'll
- 15:24Speaker 1: get to that in a second. It's Light FM with
- 15:26Speaker 1: Cubby and Christine in the morning. Producer Kristen producing in
- 15:28Speaker 1: the background. And we have a controversy involving Ritz crackers.
- 15:32Speaker 1: We think. I haven't had Ritz in a long time.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Oh, I have. But.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Putting on the Ritz. What do you got on putting
- 15:38Speaker 1: on the Ritz?
- 15:39Speaker 2: Oh, that's it?
- 15:40Speaker 1: That's all I got. Oh, you're such a tease. I know,
- 15:41Speaker 1: I know. I thought there was I could play the
- 15:44Speaker 1: whole song later.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Yeah, okay. So I thought it was just me, right? Because,
- 15:50Speaker 2: you know, I was sick recently. I had a virus
- 15:53Speaker 2: and had a lot of chicken soup with Ritz crackers,
- 15:57Speaker 2: which is a comfort food.
- 15:58Speaker 1: And the Price is Right was on. Yeah. That was
- 16:00Speaker 1: back in the day right there.
- 16:01Speaker 2: That was back in the day. And I was kind
- 16:03Speaker 2: of like, what is with the Ritz crackers? They don't
- 16:05Speaker 2: taste the same. They seem like they're smaller. They don't
- 16:09Speaker 2: hold up. Like you take it out of the package
- 16:10Speaker 2: and it's broken. I mean, you know. Just trying to
- 16:13Speaker 2: get over a virus here. Can I at least have
- 16:15Speaker 2: some decent Ritz crackers? Thought it was just me. It's
- 16:19Speaker 2: a whole social media thing. So now I feel like, uh-huh.
- 16:23Speaker 1: You're not alone.
- 16:24Speaker 2: I am not alone, Cubby. People are complaining about Ritz
- 16:27Speaker 2: crackers online, kind of asking each other, what happened?
- 16:31Speaker 1: Did they change makers or something?
- 16:32Speaker 2: No. It looks like they may have changed. I'm Googling now.
- 16:36Speaker 2: That they may have changed the recipe this year. They're
- 16:40Speaker 2: trying to make them healthier. Ugh. I get it.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Oh, it comes back to health. I know.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Why do we have to be healthy? So I guess
- 16:48Speaker 2: maybe they changed the kind of oil that they make
- 16:50Speaker 2: it in, right? Because that's supposed to be better for us.
- 16:55Speaker 2: And maybe there's less salt. I'm not sure. It's like.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Can they make two versions? Can they make the regular
- 17:01Speaker 1: Ritz and then the Ritz Light?
- 17:04Speaker 2: And they're smaller. To me, they're smaller. That's usually a
- 17:06Speaker 2: money saver. Yes. Like, can we have... like nostalgic Ritz crackers,
- 17:12Speaker 2: which we call them vintage old school Ritz.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Right.
- 17:14Speaker 2: And then for those of you who want to be healthy,
- 17:17Speaker 2: people are complaining of shrink flation.
- 17:19Speaker 1: They should have fat Ritz and skinny Ritz.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Yes. Well, but also this is, they're saying as of 2020, Oh,
- 17:26Speaker 2: as of 2024, they do acknowledge that they had to
- 17:29Speaker 2: cut them by 30% because of pricing. So they're 30% smaller.
- 17:35Speaker 1: So the crackers are smaller.
- 17:36Speaker 2: They are. So that's not my imagination either. But the
- 17:39Speaker 2: ingredients have shifted a little bit.
- 17:41Speaker 1: All right, well, chime in on this at 44363 if
- 17:45Speaker 1: you're part of the whole Ritz controversy here.
- 17:47Speaker 2: What happened to Ritz? Have you noticed the difference?
- 17:49Speaker 1: See, I haven't had them in so long, so now
- 17:51Speaker 1: I kind of want to buy them just to see
- 17:52Speaker 1: if they are different.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm right. I'm telling you.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Hey, we have something free to give away. The only
- 17:56Speaker 1: catch is you have to win a trivia battle. 1-800-222-1067.
- 18:00Speaker 1: It's a brand new week, so a brand new week
- 18:02Speaker 1: of prizes. What do we have?
- 18:03Speaker 2: Tickets to see Michelle Branch at the Beacon Theater Thursday,
- 18:06Speaker 2: November 5th. Tickets on sale now at Ticketmaster.com or give
- 18:10Speaker 2: us a call.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Good luck.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Mort Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 18:16Speaker 1: You pretty good at trivia?
- 18:18Speaker 3: Light FM's Trivia Battle.
- 18:21Speaker 1: It's a Monday edition of a trivia battle. And Christine,
- 18:24Speaker 1: meet Christine. She's on Team Cubby. She's from Long Island. Christine,
- 18:28Speaker 1: say hi to Christine. Hi. Hi, good morning.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Morning.
- 18:32Speaker 1: What are you doing up? Where are you headed?
- 18:34Speaker 3: I'm headed to work.
- 18:35Speaker 1: And what do you do? I'm a teacher.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Oh, very nice.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Thank you for all you do.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Yes.
- 18:39Speaker 1: And hopefully you'll get a victory on Team Cubby. But
- 18:42Speaker 1: who's your competition, Christine?
- 18:43Speaker 2: Bruce in lovely Plainsboro. How are you this morning, Bruce?
- 18:48Speaker 1: I'm doing great. How are you doing?
- 18:49Speaker 2: Good. Oh, you've got such great energy.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a Monday, you know. Just caffeinated.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Yes, fake it till you make it.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Well, best of luck to you both. I think you
- 19:01Speaker 1: know the drill, but if not, Christine, you'll get three questions.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Bruce will get three questions. Best out of three wins
- 19:06Speaker 1: our trivia battle. Christine and Team Cubby, you're up first.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Can you tell me, in college football over the weekend,
- 19:12Speaker 1: Notre Dame, they lost on Saturday in a big upset,
- 19:15Speaker 1: losing their first game of the season. What team beat
- 19:18Speaker 1: Notre Dame over the weekend? A, Auburn, B, BYU, or C,
- 19:22Speaker 1: Florida State? Um, I don't know. Can you say the
- 19:28Speaker 1: choices again? Sorry. Yeah, Auburn, BYU, or Florida State. One
- 19:32Speaker 1: of those teams beat Notre Dame.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Uh, BYU.
- 19:37Speaker 1: BYU is correct. A controversial ending, too. Some people think
- 19:42Speaker 1: Notre Dame deserved one more play.
- 19:44Speaker 2: One more second.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Yes. Okay.
- 19:46Speaker 2: All right, Bruce, here we go. The Milwaukee Brewers are
- 19:49Speaker 2: headed to the World Series. What team did they beat
- 19:52Speaker 2: in the National League Championship? A, the Dodgers. The Dodgers. B,
- 19:56Speaker 2: the Braves. C, the Padres. A, the Dodgers is correct, sir.
- 20:00Speaker 1: That was quick. All right. Christine, how many children do
- 20:04Speaker 1: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have? Is it A2, B3,
- 20:07Speaker 1: or C4?
- 20:11Speaker 3: Um, I think it's two.
- 20:14Speaker 1: You are correct, and you have two points. It is 2-1, Christine.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Bruce, actor, director, producer Tim Robbins just celebrated his birthday.
- 20:23Speaker 2: What famous actress did he have a long relationship with,
- 20:26Speaker 2: though they never got married? Was it A, Jodie Foster, B,
- 20:30Speaker 2: Susan Sarandon, C, Sigourney Weaver? B, Sue. Okay, Susan Sarandon
- 20:37Speaker 2: is the correct answer.
- 20:38Speaker 1: And it's 2-2. All right, Christine. Which dog breed was
- 20:43Speaker 1: traditionally kept by monks in the Swiss Alps to find
- 20:47Speaker 1: lost travelers? Was it A, German Shepherd, B, Golden Retriever,
- 20:52Speaker 1: or C, St. Bernard?
- 20:54Speaker 2: I'm going to go with St.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Bernard. Unreal, you guys. You're doing well. All right. Christine,
- 21:03Speaker 1: three for three.
- 21:03Speaker 2: We need this for the tie. Okay. What is the
- 21:06Speaker 2: national animal of Scotland? A. Tiger, B. Whale, C. Unicorn.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Unicorn.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Yes, sir. We have ourselves a tie. Paul Cubby Bryant.
- 21:21Speaker 1: All right, Christine.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:22Speaker 1: What number do you.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Kristen's going to choose a number.
- 21:26Speaker 1: What number do you think she should pick? Excuse me?
- 21:29Speaker 1: Give me a range. Yeah, Bruce or Kristen's going to
- 21:32Speaker 1: write down a number between 1 and... 150.
- 21:33Speaker 2: 150?
- 21:33Speaker 1: Yes. Okay, write it down, Kristen. Don't tell us what
- 21:37Speaker 1: you wrote down yet. Now, what do you think Kristen
- 21:40Speaker 1: wrote down? You both get guesses. Whoever's closest will win
- 21:43Speaker 1: the game. Christine, you go first. Between 1 and 150,
- 21:47Speaker 1: what do you think Kristen wrote down? This is our tiebreaker.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Between 1 and 150, let's say 75.
- 21:51Speaker 2: 75.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Bruce, what's your guess? Let's go with 74.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Oh, my goodness. Producer Kristen picked the number 10. Bruce,
- 22:05Speaker 2: you're the winner. Wow. With your strategy there.
- 22:08Speaker 1: And I don't want anybody complaining, well, it all depends
- 22:10Speaker 1: on who goes first. It doesn't matter. We don't know
- 22:13Speaker 1: what Kristen picked.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 22:14Speaker 1: You can go either direction. And that was right down
- 22:15Speaker 1: the middle.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Yep.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Yep.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Christine, you were great. And you know you can always
- 22:19Speaker 2: call us and play again, right?
- 22:20Speaker 1: Yes, of course.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Thank you. Thank you. And Bruce, congratulations. You're going to
- 22:26Speaker 2: see Michelle Branch at the Beacon Theater Thursday, November 5th.
- 22:29Speaker 1: That's terrific. Thank you.
- 22:31Speaker 3: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 22:34Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Christine, do you mind if I share some of our
- 22:38Speaker 1: morning show text thread with the audience?
- 22:42Speaker 2: Go for it.
- 22:43Speaker 1: I know what stays on our text thread usually. Okay.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Stays on our text thread. Or what happens in Vegas
- 22:48Speaker 1: stays in Vegas. Yes. What happens on our text thread stays.
- 22:50Speaker 1: It should, yeah. But this is a public service announcement, really.
- 22:53Speaker 2: You're about to out me, aren't you?
- 22:55Speaker 1: Well, it's going to help people.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Okay. Yes, it is, actually.
- 22:58Speaker 1: I was a little... Unsure of it and shocked? Shocked
- 23:01Speaker 1: and awed. Yeah. So there's a thing on Instagram called Instapick.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 23:08Speaker 1: And you sent a text to me and Kristen. This
- 23:10Speaker 1: was like 4 p.m. on Friday.
- 23:12Speaker 2: In a panic, yes.
- 23:13Speaker 1: You said, oh my gosh, what is this? And it's
- 23:16Speaker 1: a picture of you. It looks like a selfie of you.
- 23:18Speaker 2: It's horrible, yeah.
- 23:19Speaker 1: And the room is very dark. There's not good lighting.
- 23:22Speaker 2: And it would be our studio.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Right. Yeah. It's in our studio. And kind of... It's
- 23:29Speaker 1: kind of looking up at you, almost like below the chin.
- 23:33Speaker 2: The worst angle imaginable, it apparently was me checking my messages.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Right. And you didn't know if this picture initially was
- 23:41Speaker 1: from your computer at work or from your phone. And
- 23:44Speaker 1: we did some research. And if you're on your messages
- 23:48Speaker 1: in Instagram.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 23:49Speaker 1: There is a thing off to the right in the
- 23:51Speaker 1: corner where you can take an Insta pic, and it
- 23:54Speaker 1: will instantly put it up, not on your Instagram story.
- 23:57Speaker 1: It will just go to your DMs.
- 24:00Speaker 2: So what happens is anybody who DMs you will then
- 24:04Speaker 2: see it. Thank you very much, Instagram. It's okay to
- 24:09Speaker 2: share this because, yes, this is a public service announcement. Warning,
- 24:13Speaker 2: protect yourself.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Because you can easily hit it.
- 24:16Speaker 2: So easily. So I must have been scrolling, right, to
- 24:19Speaker 2: read my messages.
- 24:20Speaker 1: And there's a little plus sign right here.
- 24:21Speaker 2: That little watch out for that guy. Yep. And the
- 24:24Speaker 2: next thing I know, I'm like getting messages responding to
- 24:28Speaker 2: this Insta pic.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Yeah, people can like it, love it, hit the fire emoji, whatever.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Yeah, there was no fire emojis. It was a horrible picture.
- 24:37Speaker 2: It was like, you know, when you look down into
- 24:39Speaker 2: your phone, nobody like ever needs to see that ever. Right.
- 24:42Speaker 2: And I was talking about this with My friend Ann
- 24:46Speaker 2: on Friday, we're driving into Manhattan. I'm telling her, look out,
- 24:49Speaker 2: this is awful. She's like, you could be in the bathroom.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Sometimes we're laying in bed and looking at our messages.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Actually, that explains it.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Who knows?
- 24:57Speaker 1: Because now I've been watching. I've been paying attention to
- 24:59Speaker 1: the Instapics. And I have seen just pictures of shoes,
- 25:03Speaker 1: somebody clearly on the john. And I'm wondering if they
- 25:06Speaker 1: accidentally are doing it. They don't know they're doing it.
- 25:08Speaker 1: That's bad. But you're right. So once again, if you're
- 25:10Speaker 1: on Instagram and you go to your DMs, And you're
- 25:13Speaker 1: checking your messages right off to the right. There's a
- 25:15Speaker 1: little plus sign. And you can easily, by accident, hit
- 25:18Speaker 1: it and then post a picture. It could be no
- 25:21Speaker 1: matter what. It could be anything.
- 25:23Speaker 2: It's like you don't even know. I didn't know until
- 25:25Speaker 2: people started responding to it. And I was like, what
- 25:28Speaker 2: are they responding to? Oh, that's an awful picture.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Well, look, it could have been a lot worse.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:33Speaker 1: It could have been something a little bit more intimate. Yes.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Thankfully, it was basically the ceiling of our studio.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Right. It was very dark, too. The lighting, again, was awful.
- 25:44Speaker 1: But your face is kind of funny in the picture.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Oh, thanks, Cubby.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Huh? Like Scooby-Doo. Huh?
- 25:53Speaker 2: That's me reading messages.
- 25:54Speaker 1: How quickly did you delete that, by the way?
- 25:56Speaker 2: As fast as I could when I talked to you guys.
- 25:58Speaker 2: And remember, I checked with you and Kristen. I'm like,
- 26:00Speaker 2: please tell me it's gone. Like, it's really gone, right?
- 26:03Speaker 1: Oh, and then Kristen tried to take a screenshot. And
- 26:05Speaker 1: then a screenshot of that screenshot she sent to us.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:08Speaker 1: And you can't take a screenshot. So that's some good news.
- 26:11Speaker 2: Oh, that's good.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Like nobody took a screenshot of that.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Oh, so nobody has it.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Right.
- 26:14Speaker 2: Yeah, because like you could bribe someone with those pictures. They're, wow.
- 26:17Speaker 1: So funny.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Just really be careful with Instagram. Just telling you.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Yep. Be careful. Hey, be caller 10 right now. 1-800-222-1067.
- 26:25Speaker 1: There is a show happening later this week.
- 26:28Speaker 2: There is. Journey, Sunday, October 25th at Prudential Center. That's
- 26:33Speaker 2: this Sunday. Tickets available now at Ticketmaster.com or give us
- 26:37Speaker 2: a call. 1-800-222-1067.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Good luck.
