- 0:29Olympia
- 0:31on the show,
- 0:32Maggie Malone who is heading to Paris
- 0:35to compete in the Ja throw for team
- 0:38Usa. Maggie is now a 3 time
- 0:42Maggie lives in Nebraska with her husband, Sam,
- 0:45who is her coach. She was the 20
- 0:4716 American National and C.
- 0:50Record holder and Nc
- 0:53division 1 champion.
- 0:55She
- 0:56through for Texas A and m University.
- 0:59She has a
- 1:00really amazing post
- 1:02trials
- 1:03interview. I think it was with Flo track
- 1:06that just sucked me in her passion for
- 1:09this sport.
- 1:11She talks about in that interview. Like, how
- 1:12many times she has thought she might quit
- 1:15the sport and the fact she's here for
- 1:17her third Olympic team is so incredible.
- 1:20Maggie talks a lot about her fate, which
- 1:23seems to be a trending topic in
- 1:26these post Olympic trials pre Olympic interviews with
- 1:29these athletes I've been talking to. I hope
- 1:32if nothing else, you all learn a little
- 1:35bit about the Ja throw in this episode.
- 1:38Let's give these field sports some love. We
- 1:43get into lots of different topics in this
- 1:45episode, and I love Maggie Spirit and
- 1:49energy and I cannot wait to cheer for
- 1:51her in paris. Go be Bold, Maggie. We
- 1:54are all excited for you. I want to

- 2:37Alright, friends Today, on the podcast. We have
- 2:39Ja Throw Maggie Malone on the show. Welcome
- 2:42to the show, Maggie. Hi, Lindsay. Thanks for
- 2:45having me. Thanks for coming on. You're my
- 2:47second Ja or I've interviewed. Oh okay. Who
- 2:50was the first?
- 2:51Kara Winger. Oh, of course. Yes. Of course.
- 2:54But, you know, I interviewed Cara, like, when
- 2:57after she announced her retirement. So it was
- 2:58fun to see her come out of your
- 3:00tire with this year. Yes. I know. It
- 3:02was so great. It's... I've said this so
- 3:04many times. She's so good for the sport
- 3:06and great for me. Like, she has been
- 3:09just the trail blazer and, has helped me
- 3:11accomplish what I've been able to accomplish. So
- 3:14she's she's the goat in my book.
- 3:17See, I love that. Like, I love that
- 3:19you're starting off this interview, cheering on another
- 3:22woman who has, like, helped pave the way.
- 3:24That's, like... And I was gonna ask you
- 3:26about Cara later in the episode. I didn't
- 3:27realize we'd get it brought up so early
- 3:29right away.
- 3:31She's so easy to brag about. Oh, I
- 3:34love it. Yeah. I was excited to see
- 3:35her come out of retirement. Yeah. But, yeah.
- 3:38I mean, I normally... I do focus on,
- 3:39like, marathon runners, and I do some track
- 3:41interviews too. Like, I'd I just had a
- 3:43400 meter runner on, But Okay. Dabbling in
- 3:46the in the field events. I think it's
- 3:48really fun too, and I think it's really
- 3:50important that
- 3:51we try to expand Yeah the athletes that
- 3:54were sharing about.
- 3:56Had. Yeah. I agree. I, you know, field
- 4:00events don't always get a lot of love.
- 4:02Unfortunately,
- 4:04even though I think that they're so amazing
- 4:06and like, the things that field of can
- 4:09do with their body, and I just think
- 4:11is incredible. So I love that you're kind
- 4:14of expanding to us as well and you
- 4:16know, especially with, you know, where track is
- 4:19heading maybe in the future who knows, I
- 4:21do think that we're getting more popularity the
- 4:23to the sports and especially around the Olympics
- 4:25and I think
- 4:28with,
- 4:29the, Michael Johnson League that's coming out, I
- 4:31think that is amazing for the sport.
- 4:34I do hope that they extended it to
- 4:36to field events. I, you know, I hope
- 4:38that that's part of the master plan because
- 4:40I think it would be great for this
- 4:41sport in general. And continue to elevate all
- 4:44of us,
- 4:45and not just make, you know, sprint and
- 4:48running events which are already heavily watched.
- 4:51And it's not putting them further
- 4:55or, I guess, it'd be farther from where
- 4:56field events are. And jobs it's just, like,
- 4:58visibility. So I I do hope that we
- 5:01just continue to press forward and
- 5:05we'll see maybe getting some hardware in in
- 5:07Paris will help.
- 5:10So,
- 5:11yeah,
- 5:12Trials champion, we're talking to. 3 time Olympia
- 5:15now,
- 5:17How does that feel?
- 5:19It's really surreal.
- 5:21I just...
- 5:22You know, I feel so grateful,
- 5:24and I've said this a couple times of,
- 5:27like, III truly did almost quit the sport
- 5:29many times. And and in 26 or 20
- 5:3117 after my first team, like, I walked
- 5:33away from it completely. I went through a
- 5:35lot of mental health just like, red discovery.
- 5:39And I started kind of my journey with
- 5:40therapy.
- 5:42And then for me, finding my faith has
- 5:45just been a huge part of me continuing
- 5:47to do this. And even in
- 5:50finding, you know, Who Jesus is and who
- 5:52he is to me and what he says
- 5:53about me. I feel like, I'm still had
- 5:56tension with the sport where it was, like,
- 5:58man, God, like,
- 5:59why did you
- 6:01give this to me? Like, why is this
- 6:03my path?
- 6:04And I feel like this is the first
- 6:06year
- 6:07that I have really stepped into, like, okay.
- 6:11Like, this is what I was made to
- 6:12do, and I truly believe that God, like,
- 6:15made me to throw the Ja and made
- 6:17this my path,
- 6:19and I feel like I've... I finally accepted
- 6:21that and also, not just accepted it, but,
- 6:23like, stepped powerfully into that and been, like,
- 6:26okay. Walk boldly in this. This is what
- 6:29you were made to do. And so I'm
- 6:30in that you can walk faithfully.
- 6:32And I think for a long time, I
- 6:33was like, man I was given this gift,
- 6:35but I'm kind of scared of it, which
- 6:37is weird to say, but it was, like,
- 6:40I don't... I was afraid to fail in
- 6:42a lot of ways, and I was like,
- 6:44what what is this? Like, what is tracking
- 6:46feel... This wasn't a sport that I or,
- 6:48like, a,
- 6:50professional, I put in quote sport that I
- 6:52in envision for myself. And so having to
- 6:55navigate that and having to navigate a lot
- 6:57of, like, bumps in the road.
- 6:59Is tough as we all do in the
- 7:01sport. So
- 7:02I really am grateful for it and to
- 7:04get to go 1 more time and to
- 7:06also be healthy is such a big thing,
- 7:08especially as a ja throw. Like, health is
- 7:11is
- 7:12really important. There's a lot of injuries that
- 7:14that come in this. And as you know,
- 7:16maybe talking to Care even. It's like, there's
- 7:18a lot of injury. And so I feel
- 7:20very blessed that I get to do this
- 7:21and
- 7:22and, yeah, just get... Got the countdown going
- 7:25now.
- 7:27It's kinda crazy to hear you say, like,
- 7:29after you became an Olympia in 20 16,
- 7:31that's when, like, the mental health struggles came
- 7:33and you were like, why am I even
- 7:35doing this? What is my purpose? Because A
- 7:37lot of times, like, the Olympics aren't such
- 7:39a pedestal that you're like, oh, I became
- 7:40an Olympia. I checked the box.
- 7:43And I think a part of it is
- 7:45that my husband and I were talking about
- 7:47this.
- 7:48When you...
- 7:50Okay. So to put my story in perspective,
- 7:52like, I started throwing Ja on basically in
- 7:5420 13, and I made the Olympic team
- 7:56in 20 16. So Wow. I was this
- 8:00wasn't something that I even knew existed to
- 8:03be quite honest. Like, yeah, I wasn't a
- 8:05kid that was like, I'm gonna be Olympia
- 8:06and, like, that was not my goal, my
- 8:08goal at the time was to be an
- 8:10all American 1 time. Mh. Like I went
- 8:13to college and I was like, if I
- 8:14can stick out
- 8:154 years in d 1 athletics, and I
- 8:18could maybe get a a, you know, all
- 8:20American
- 8:21stamp on the chest 1 time,
- 8:23then I was gonna be so satisfied with
- 8:25that, and I knew in my head what
- 8:27the rest of my life was gonna look
- 8:28like.
- 8:29And
- 8:30obviously, it's like god just laughs this.
- 8:34So so to put that in respect 20
- 8:3613 to 20 16, And then to achieve
- 8:39something that is, you know,
- 8:42I watched... We've all watched the Olympics on
- 8:44Tv. And as a kid, you're, like,
- 8:46Wow. I,
- 8:48you know, those Olympia, like, they're on weed
- 8:50boxes. They
- 8:52the life has changed they're... Probably flying first
- 8:54ass everywhere, like, your life is totally different,
- 8:57and it could not be more opposite than
- 8:59that. Like, it truly is like, you you
- 9:03show up to the village, and I've always
- 9:04said this, like, I stayed at nicer places
- 9:06with my college team at Tech stadium, than
- 9:08I did at the olympic village. Like, wow.
- 9:10Let's just put that into perspective.
- 9:12And so
- 9:14I I think a part of that is,
- 9:16like, like Wow, God, Like, I thought my
- 9:18life was gonna change in a certain way,
- 9:21and it didn't. And now what does that
- 9:23mean? Because now there's, like this, like,
- 9:26am I supposed to keep doing this? Like,
- 9:27I just achieved the pinnacle and on top
- 9:30of that, I didn't perform well. So I
- 9:33achieved the pinnacle of success, and I didn't
- 9:35perform well now I feel like I failed
- 9:37publicly,
- 9:38and I'm in Room 3. I don't know
- 9:40if you know the room. So yeah it's,
- 9:41of course. Okay. So I'm the achieve, So,
- 9:44like, Failure is detrimental to us.
- 9:49We shame spiral as my boss say.
- 9:52And so I feel like all of that
- 9:55and figuring out, like, wow. This wasn't something
- 9:58that I had for myself.
- 10:00What does this mean now? And I think
- 10:02that's when a lot of the mental health
- 10:03stuff came in and I was like, do
- 10:05I wanna be doing this? Like, it... Do
- 10:06I have to do this? I feel like
- 10:08I have to do this?
- 10:09Like you have this gift, so you feel
- 10:11like you have to do it. You hit
- 10:12became an Olympia.
- 10:14Like, do you have to do it if
- 10:15you don't really wanna do it? And do
- 10:17I wanna do it? I don't know if
- 10:18I wanna do it? Yeah. So you had
- 10:21mentioned, like, you knew what you wanted to
- 10:23do with your life that you thought you
- 10:25knew what was gonna happen if you became
- 10:27all. Okay. What was it? What did you
- 10:28think you were gonna do? At the time.
- 10:30Yep. I thought that I was gonna go
- 10:32work for a sports agency and... Okay I
- 10:35would work in Texas, and
- 10:38I would probably live in Dallas, and I
- 10:40would work in either, like, P r work
- 10:43as, like, an agent. Or alongside an the
- 10:45agent, so that was kind of my goal
- 10:47was still work that. There was a time
- 10:49where I thought that I would work in
- 10:50college athletics
- 10:52you could not pay me enough to work
- 10:53really next right now. Absolutely not. It is
- 10:56such a wild wild west. And just with
- 10:59everything with N n now and but I
- 11:02I... The universities have to pay their athletes
- 11:04now. It's just... It's crazy. It's such a
- 11:07different,
- 11:08landscape and what I grew up in personally.
- 11:11Like,
- 11:12I'm not a big fan of it personally,
- 11:15So I I just think it's it's hard.
- 11:18It's a really hard job right now. Yeah.
- 11:20I was thinking about that, Like... There are
- 11:23pieces of the Stuff that I think are
- 11:25really good, but then I'm like... I feel
- 11:27like there's some, like, entitlement there too. There
- 11:30absolutely is. And I can say, like, I
- 11:33have experienced that
- 11:35witnessing and talking to athletes that wanna go
- 11:38to college for track, and it is a
- 11:40a question. It's not the question of, like,
- 11:42okay, at the time, at my time when
- 11:44I was competing, It was like,
- 11:46man I'm grateful to be on this team
- 11:48and like, I'm looking at for the best
- 11:49coach that could, like, get me the best,
- 11:52like, the best that I could be. Yeah.
- 11:53And now a lot of the tier tiers
- 11:56are, like, how much can you pay me?
- 11:58Right. How much can you get me? Oh
- 12:00my gosh. Yes. And
- 12:02and not only are college coaches having to
- 12:05recruit new athletes, but they're having to recruit
- 12:07their same athletes every year,
- 12:09U. We'll just re recruit the because of
- 12:12the... Yeah. Yeah. Hundred percent. And so it's
- 12:14like, if they're not happy,
- 12:15then they're... They and they know that. Like,
- 12:18there's this, like, and I've seen it where
- 12:20it's like, hey, I want this.
- 12:22If you don't do that for me. That's
- 12:23okay. I'll to go transferred down the road.
- 12:26And it's it's kinda wild because, you know,
- 12:28when we think about it like that, it
- 12:30takes like the
- 12:32relationship. Hundred percent. Down a step.
- 12:34Yes. It
- 12:36Yes.
- 12:37I just saw yesterday. There was a breaking
- 12:39news. Let me see if I could pulled
- 12:40it up, but it said, I think it
- 12:42was from
- 12:43Espn.
- 12:44Me see. I'm gonna pull this up because
- 12:45I wanna get it right. My massage therapist
- 12:48sent it to me. You were talking about
- 12:50it. Okay. This is from Espn Breaking news,
- 12:52Us appeals court,
- 12:53rules college athletes may qualify as employees
- 12:57deserving of pay under federal wage and our
- 12:59laws.
- 13:00So now you're an employee to
- 13:03the team to the university.
- 13:06So then that begs the question of like,
- 13:08okay. Do you even have to go to
- 13:09school? Do you have to be mold? What...
- 13:11Like, and like, yeah, what... Where do academics
- 13:13come into play at all? What is the...
- 13:15Yeah. I don't know.
- 13:17And I also, like,
- 13:19I think that that will crush
- 13:21smaller schools. Like, if you can't can pay
- 13:23your athletes.
- 13:24Yeah. Yeah. And now you're room... So let's
- 13:27keep it layering.
- 13:29Now you're removing opportunity for maybe a family
- 13:32that's never gone to college, but this was
- 13:34their opportunity to go to college, and this
- 13:35was their way to go to call. And
- 13:37now
- 13:38you're having to either cut those programs, which
- 13:40you're seeing. You're seeing that nationally. Mh. And
- 13:44And and, you know, it's, like this generational
- 13:47change. I... I'm not for it. Yeah. It's
- 13:50like it's kinda of the same thing as
- 13:51like, what's happening in the country 2. It's
- 13:52like, the Richard Richer and you poorly
- 13:55is happening. Yeah. And so now if I
- 13:57was an athlete,
- 13:59I mean, I wouldn't do this just because
- 14:00I... It's not how I operate, but, like,
- 14:03stepping into their mindset,
- 14:05looking at schools,
- 14:08I would go where the money is. Right?
- 14:10What's yeah. Like, if you are a star
- 14:11Athlete. Yes. Which is, like, the Sec probably.
- 14:14Yeah. So now those conferences in those schools
- 14:17are just gonna get, you know, because they
- 14:18have the money,
- 14:20you're gonna see a huge pendulum swing, maybe.
- 14:23This is just me, you know, I'm just
- 14:25talking here. I don't know. I can't see
- 14:26the future. But in my head, it's, like,
- 14:28you may see this big pendulum swing to
- 14:30those conferences
- 14:31because they have the money.
- 14:34And what's wild?
- 14:35Like, as I'm thinking this through as a
- 14:38parent with kids and sports and, like, seeing
- 14:41the absolute absurdity of travel sports and what
- 14:45you club seeing right now? I'm not. We
- 14:47don't do... We don't do travel sports. My
- 14:49oldest is 12. Okay. We... I mean, they
- 14:52do soccer programs, but they're in, like a
- 14:55step above a rec league, like, it's still
- 14:58parent coaches who are volunteers. Yeah. Yeah. I'm
- 15:01so against it, like, financially, also, like, time
- 15:04wise. I know. I can't... I'm not give
- 15:08that's just not how we're gonna spend our
- 15:09time as a family in the car. Yes.
- 15:12You know, all of all things. But
- 15:14but to me, I'm thinking when I'm hearing
- 15:16you say this, I'm like, oh my gosh
- 15:18These parents that are already investing all this
- 15:20time and all this money just so they're
- 15:22their kids first of all make the high
- 15:23school team. I, that's what people are doing
- 15:25now.
- 15:26So their kids can make a high school
- 15:29soccer team. They're spending
- 15:31thousands of dollars.
- 15:33Every season and Yes. Spending all of their
- 15:36weekends on the road for Yes. Quite frankly,
- 15:39mediocre kids to play soccer so they can
- 15:41maybe make their high school team a hundred
- 15:43percent. And so my question to you is,
- 15:46okay, what was your background
- 15:49and how did you get... How did you
- 15:51get into,
- 15:52you know, athletics And how did you make
- 15:54it to call it? Like, what was it
- 15:56was it a coat that's saw you? Did
- 15:57you do development with, like, a small club,
- 16:00like, what was your path
- 16:02compared to, like, what it is now?
- 16:04Well, I mean, I didn't I didn't do
- 16:05athletics in college. Oh, okay. I thought you
- 16:07did in Indiana. Okay. Sorry. No. III went
- 16:10to I.
- 16:11But okay. Gotcha. I, like, maybe could have
- 16:13walked on to a small team. You know?
- 16:16Yep.
- 16:17Yeah. Was gonna more like... It's so different
- 16:19than that. Like, it's... My parents didn't pay...
- 16:22They couldn't afford it. Yeah. And I don't
- 16:24know, like... And again, like, you're gonna see
- 16:27fewer and fewer opportunities for families who can't
- 16:29afford it, but their kid is a stud
- 16:31athlete.
- 16:33But now you barrier. Yeah. Yeah. That's the
- 16:36thing I feel like
- 16:38at the end of the day, if your
- 16:40talent is really there. Yep.
- 16:43You will rise, somebody will see you. Yes.
- 16:47If that will... That's how always work. Yeah.
- 16:50Yeah. The problem is is the kids that
- 16:52are, like, pretty good. It could be really
- 16:55good, but then their parents can't afford like,
- 16:58Yeah. What these higher income families can afford,
- 17:00and that... Those are the people... It's, like
- 17:02how the blue collar people always get lost.
- 17:04Right? Hundred percent. That's exactly what it is.
- 17:07It's such a reflection or maybe even, like
- 17:09a symptom of what kinda like the Us
- 17:12or the economy is. And I just... I
- 17:14don't know. Like,
- 17:16you know, maybe the Us goes to a
- 17:18club system in the future, it feels like
- 17:20that's where it's going. I don't want that
- 17:22personally because I think, like, high school pride,
- 17:24high school like, oh. Like just such a
- 17:28beautiful season of life, and and
- 17:31be I know. It's so different. It's so
- 17:33different than what clubs offer. And club systems
- 17:36are great. Like, obviously, Europe is doing great
- 17:37with that. But I
- 17:40high school football games, high school basketball games,
- 17:42like, Amazing better. Amazing.
- 17:46Nothing better. It's all club now. It's I
- 17:48know. And 5 parents or coaches, and they
- 17:51say too, Like, they lose a lot of
- 17:52those athletes to the club teams now.
- 17:55Alright, friends. This episode of the podcast is
- 17:58supported by Proven x, my go to for
- 18:00protein powder, muscle health, joint health, all the
- 18:03vitamins and supplements.

- 18:07x dot com. They have the highest quality
- 18:10ingredients clinically effective supplements that promote health and
- 18:14longevity and what I'm raving about is their
- 18:17muscle health. If you follow me on Instagram,
- 18:19you might see that I've been lifting quite
- 18:22a bit, My goal is 3 days a
- 18:24week of lifting,
- 18:25still running around 5 days a week, and
- 18:28the muscle health plus combines clinically effective doses
- 18:32of cr
- 18:33mono.
- 18:34If you're taking cr, you want that mono
- 18:38is the kind that you want.
- 18:40In other essential amino acids,
- 18:43it combines all these amazing ingredients for comprehensive
- 18:47muscle health.
- 18:48And
- 18:49As you age,
- 18:50you know, you hit 30, you hit 40,
- 18:52you hit 50, your muscles break down a
- 18:55certain percentage every decade, and it's so important
- 18:58to fight against that, so you can stay
- 19:00strong as you age.
- 19:02This is something I'm taking really importantly,
- 19:05importantly is that a word. I'm taking it
- 19:07really seriously.
- 19:09You know, I just hit 40, and this
- 19:11is a big deal to me.
- 19:13So I am focused on the strength training
- 19:17and also
- 19:18taking the muscle health and doing anything complimentary
- 19:20that will help me stay strong and help
- 19:23with that muscle growth and protect against the
- 19:26muscle breakdown. So good news if you have
- 19:29already used my code another with Proven x.
- 19:32You can use the code Lindsay strength, LINDSEY
- 19:36strength,
- 19:37to get
- 19:3815 percent off your order. As long as
- 19:40you have muscle health in the cart. You
- 19:42could put anything else in there and you
- 19:44can still get that discount using the code
- 19:46Lindsay strength
- 19:47you can also use the code another if
- 19:49you've never purchased from P x using my
- 19:52code before, that'll still work for 15 percent
- 19:55off as well.
- 19:56I highly recommend their products. I take their
- 19:58multi vitamin. My kids take their vitamins.
- 20:01I really trust the work they're doing in
- 20:03the ingredients that they put in the product.
- 20:05So go to p x dot com and
- 20:07check it out. Code lindsay strength or another.
- 20:10Alright friends back to the show.
- 20:15My husband and I, we do a lot
- 20:17of, different training, so whether it's with Ja
- 20:19or, like, speed agility, that kind of stuff,
- 20:21and a lot of our parents have will
- 20:23ask us if, you know, oh, should I
- 20:25specialize my kid this year. And we are
- 20:27always saying, like, absolutely not, like, it is
- 20:30not good for your kid as an athlete.
- 20:32The development that they will get for playing
- 20:34different words is so much greater than just
- 20:38throwing the Ja or just playing basketball, like,
- 20:41that cross
- 20:43kinda training is not only better for them
- 20:45physically, but it's better for them, like, emotionally,
- 20:48maybe they're not the best on that team
- 20:49so they're having to navigate that. Like, there's
- 20:52so many more benefits to doing multiple sports.
- 20:55Yeah. Not to mention injury, like, you were
- 20:58talking about injury with your Ja throwing earlier,
- 21:00Like... And that's what I would say too.
- 21:02Ja is not fun. Like, we're not playing
- 21:05Ja. Yeah. It's next max effort throws. Okay?
- 21:08So to go do something that is fun
- 21:11is is, like, before I compete. Like, my
- 21:14husband and I always do something fun. So
- 21:16we'll play like light spice or like Volleyball
- 21:19or something. Like, we have to do... You
- 21:20gotta play. Like, you gotta bring some play
- 21:22to it.
- 21:24I love that that you even now. Like
- 21:26you still do that. Mh. And I did,
- 21:29you know, basically 4 sports. I did... I
- 21:31was outside hundred volleyball as a point Garden
- 21:33Bass of. I was a jumper in track,
- 21:35and then I was a Ke and softball.
- 21:36So, like, I was a different athlete every
- 21:39season,
- 21:40and I love that. Like, I can play
- 21:42multiple sports and it's fun. It's fun to
- 21:44go shoot around. It's fun to go, you
- 21:45know,
- 21:47go rally, you know, and volleyball. Like, it's
- 21:49fun to do that kind of stuff.
- 21:51Do you think there are certain sports though
- 21:53that are more important to specialize early? I
- 21:56always think about this like, a gymnastics. You
- 21:57know what I mean?
- 21:59I know these... I cannot speak to the
- 22:01gym gymnastics
- 22:02Clearly, they are specializing by age like 7.
- 22:050, you. 4 working for them. But also,
- 22:08think about the the... That's the minority. Right?
- 22:11Yeah. So, like, the minority is the group
- 22:13that's going to make it to the Olympics,
- 22:15which is the pinnacle of what they're doing.
- 22:16K. So how many do they send, like,
- 22:186. Right.
- 22:20So women, 6 girls in country. For the
- 22:24whole country, they're going to go represent? So
- 22:27in my head,
- 22:29I would do multiple things. Yes.
- 22:33Oh, hi gosh.
- 22:34Speaking of sending 6. Mh. 3 Ja throw
- 22:39get sent, and you're 1 of them, and
- 22:40you you won the trials. I think just
- 22:432. Yeah. Just me for the women and
- 22:45just, 1 for the men. Yeah. Really? Yeah.
- 22:49To the Olympics? Yeah.
- 22:52Tell me more.
- 22:54Unless I'm wrong. I need to, like, fact
- 22:56check it because I actually have not checked
- 22:57so much.
- 22:58This is... What's up with that? Is it...
- 23:00That's not top 3?
- 23:02So
- 23:02the way that you can make it to
- 23:04the Olympics is there's 2 reps. Yeah. 1
- 23:06is by hitting your standard. Yeah. So that
- 23:09is,
- 23:11That is like, you know, you run a
- 23:12certain time, you jump a certain distance, you
- 23:14throw a certain distance, XYZ. Right. The other
- 23:18way is the point system. So the point
- 23:21system is you go to certain ranked meats.
- 23:24So I could get as detailed as we
- 23:25can into this, but it's really boring. But,
- 23:27basically, there's, like, a level b level c
- 23:30level needs, there's global meats. And based on
- 23:33the type of meat, you get a certain
- 23:35amount of points allotted to you based on
- 23:37your performance. So if you win the meet
- 23:41and you throw a distance, you'll get a
- 23:43lot of points to your overall score.
- 23:46You need 5 meats
- 23:48to be considered to be in the top
- 23:5032
- 23:51in the world. So to have a world
- 23:53ranking, you need to have 5
- 23:55competitions.
- 23:56And I believe I was the only person
- 23:59that had the standard and was in the
- 24:01top 32 and the same... Well, curtis Curtis
- 24:04Thompson doesn't have a standard, but he's in
- 24:05the top 32 based on his consistent performances.
- 24:09Gotcha. Yeah. Okay. So had the other 2
- 24:12women had this performance in 64, which was
- 24:14what she was trying to do. She would
- 24:16had the team. Yeah. Gotcha.
- 24:19Yeah. Okay. Wow. Yeah. I mean, it's similar
- 24:21to, like, in running, you have to hit
- 24:23the standard or be world ranking. As you
- 24:26think in the Us, like, oh, top 3
- 24:29they're going, but... Yes. We keep finding out
- 24:31time and time again. Oh, will this person
- 24:32get to go because they don't have the
- 24:33standard. So... Yeah. We're only sending to Ja
- 24:36or or, Scott it. Yeah. Because I wanna
- 24:38I mean, the women's and men's Ja standard
- 24:40is absurd. Like, 6 4 meters is... I
- 24:43think somebody told me this now. So fact
- 24:46check me, but they said, like, I think
- 24:47only 8 women actually have the standard in
- 24:50the world.
- 24:51Wow.
- 24:52So it's really high.
- 24:54So will the might be 8 of you
- 24:55in the Olympics then?
- 24:57So then they filled the rest with the
- 24:59top 32 Ranking. Yeah. The ranking system. Yeah.
- 25:02Wow.
- 25:02Okay. So that is crazy too. The men's
- 25:04is 85 meters like, that's
- 25:07insanity. It's a crazy.
- 25:10So what were you thinking
- 25:12at the at the trials when you made
- 25:14your throw?
- 25:15Yeah. I... You know, for me, I had
- 25:17really just been in a lot of prayer.
- 25:19I read Sydney Mc la book. Luck and
- 25:22I felt like that just like,
- 25:25stirred something in my heart, and
- 25:28it just...
- 25:29I don't know. She's amazing. She's just done
- 25:31so much and for the sport and just
- 25:33listening to her and how she's navigated this.
- 25:36And, you know, she... Her first team was
- 25:37also real. And so a lot of what
- 25:40she was sharing was the same as I
- 25:42was experiencing.
- 25:43And
- 25:44just to be able to, like, walk through
- 25:46that and hear her
- 25:48experience helped me. And to hear how she
- 25:50overcame fear, which was ultimately what had a
- 25:52hold of my life was fear.
- 25:54And
- 25:56I just felt like I had been praying
- 25:57for
- 25:58you know, a month at that time, and
- 26:00I had so many people praying for me,
- 26:01and I just kept asking god for courage,
- 26:03confidence and bold. Like, those are the 3
- 26:05words that I just kept saying over myself.
- 26:07Courage confidence and bold.
- 26:09And I felt like that I totally... Like,
- 26:12God just totally equipped me with that. And
- 26:14I was like, alright, god. I trust you.
- 26:15I know that I made to do this.
- 26:17And I wanna execute for you.
- 26:19And
- 26:21so to be able to have had that
- 26:23experience and to have that outcome, like, I
- 26:25didn't know what the outcome was gonna be,
- 26:26but I knew that I could control what
- 26:28I could control, and I'm grateful. I'm so
- 26:31grateful to have had the results that came
- 26:33out of it.
- 26:35What was the fear
- 26:36fear failure you said earlier? Yeah. I would
- 26:39just say
- 26:40a lot of the fear stemmed from
- 26:43disappointment in the disappointment that I had had
- 26:46in my life and in my
- 26:48career,
- 26:49and a lot of it was, like, man,
- 26:51God, can I even trust stew in this?
- 26:53Like, Yeah. I feel like I put a
- 26:54lot into this and the results haven't been
- 26:58the what I wanted.
- 27:00I'm really thankful for that. And I'm thankful
- 27:02for those hard seasons because it has truly
- 27:04prepared me for
- 27:06what the next Olympics looks like for me
- 27:08and
- 27:09specifically,
- 27:10I would used to really value a metal
- 27:12and feel like that was going to bring
- 27:14me satisfaction and worth, and I really don't
- 27:16believe that anymore. Like, I I'm gonna go
- 27:19to Paris and I wanna compete to the
- 27:20best that I can, but I
- 27:23don't need... I don't value the metal as
- 27:25much as I used to. And
- 27:27it would be amazing,
- 27:29but I think for me, the reason I
- 27:32do this is to let people know who
- 27:34Jesus is. And that's why I do it,
- 27:36and that's the importance to me. And so
- 27:39I'm walking in what I was made to
- 27:41do, and
- 27:43I'm really happy and joyful about that. So
- 27:46regardless of what happens,
- 27:49I'm gonna do my best, and I'm just
- 27:50gonna use the gifts that god gave me.
- 27:52You said it along the way you found
- 27:53your faith, but did you grow up with
- 27:55a faith and then it you came back
- 27:57to it? Yeah. I would say yes. I
- 27:59definitely did. I grew up Catholic, and I
- 28:01would say that I had a faith, but,
- 28:03like, we... We were very Catholic. We went
- 28:04to yeah, you know, church
- 28:06on, you know, Wednesday nights and on Sundays
- 28:09and, like, you know, all the holy days,
- 28:11all the stuff. But I really didn't have
- 28:13a relationship with Jesus.
- 28:15And so I didn't know who he was.
- 28:17There was no foundation for that. It was
- 28:19very transactional.
- 28:21And so when I look back, I I
- 28:23know that I in my head,
- 28:26if you go to church, if you do
- 28:27the right things, if you, you know, be
- 28:29the good catholic girl, then you will be
- 28:31rewarded.
- 28:32And that's how it was put into my
- 28:35head. And so to then
- 28:39do those things
- 28:40and have a major failure
- 28:42I was, like, what in the world. But
- 28:45God, you totally
- 28:47betrayed me. And so I think that really
- 28:50sent me into and and
- 28:52I really didn't know who jesus was. I
- 28:54just was checking the boxes.
- 28:56And thankfully,
- 28:57I went to T, and I hadn't... You
- 29:00incredible women and and men, but incredible people
- 29:03around me that helped me with my journey
- 29:06and and came alongside me when I was
- 29:08making terrible decisions, and you know, just living
- 29:11the college life that I out proud of.
- 29:13And thankfully, they came around me and they
- 29:16helped me through that. And I had so
- 29:17many people in my community,
- 29:19who have made me better and who have
- 29:21led me. And
- 29:24I'm just grateful for that for them, and
- 29:26I hope that I can be that to
- 29:27other people too,
- 29:28And your husband is your coach. I assume
- 29:30you guys walked that together. Hundred percent. Yep.
- 29:33My husband's is my coach. He was my
- 29:35teammate text. He threw Ja.
- 29:38It was not on our,
- 29:40you know, radar for him to coach me.
- 29:42Yeah.
- 29:43I had started a group in Birmingham,
- 29:46and
- 29:47Unfortunately, did not work out with that coach.
- 29:50And it was honestly a really hard season.
- 29:52It was really, really tough because I wanted
- 29:54it to work out, and we loved Birmingham
- 29:56and we loved
- 29:57that time of our life,
- 30:00but
- 30:01it became pretty toxic to be fully transparent.
- 30:04Mh. And
- 30:05my husband then had to fill that role
- 30:08because that coach chose not to coach me
- 30:10anymore during an Olympic year.
- 30:12Wow. And
- 30:15so he really stepped into that role and
- 30:17then from that point, you know, we've had
- 30:19plans where it's like, okay. If we go
- 30:21here and then, like, this this coach can
- 30:23coach me and then it... Something happens and,
- 30:25like, he has just had to kinda of
- 30:27fill in.
- 30:28And
- 30:29I feel like we were finally like, okay,
- 30:31God. Like, maybe he's meant to coach me.
- 30:34Is that who's this?
- 30:36And
- 30:37It's been awesome. And he's been amazing and
- 30:40help and just, like, knows how to work
- 30:42with me that it's definitely... It's not perfect.
- 30:44Me.
- 30:45There are definitely times jazz home and we're
- 30:47like, don't talk to me.
- 30:50Sure. Yeah. Do not talk to me.
- 30:52But you know, it's made our marriage stronger.
- 30:55It has made our communication stronger, and, you
- 30:59know, we trust each other. And I think
- 31:01that has been the biggest blessing is that
- 31:04I know that he's in my corner. He's
- 31:05my rather die. And I'm the same for
- 31:07him and
- 31:08whatever happens, like, we're in this together.
- 31:11Success or not, and we'll be okay if
- 31:13we don't have success. We'll be okay if
- 31:15we do, and it's okay if we don't.

- 32:09dot com.
- 32:10And use the code lindsay
- 32:12for 30 percent off your order. Alright, Friends
- 32:14back to the show.
- 32:20Alright. What everybody does not know is that
- 32:22we are
- 32:24recording this on a day 2. We had
- 32:26some... Technical issues. So thanks for doing this,
- 32:29Maggie. Yeah. No problem, Glad we could get
- 32:32together again. It's all good. I'm I'm so
- 32:34glad.
- 32:36Okay. So
- 32:37where were we even at? Let's see.
- 32:40What does your life look like? No? So
- 32:43we're recording this July fifteenth. Yep. Until the
- 32:47Olympics. Yep.
- 32:48So I am still working. I work at
- 32:52the Foundation. So I work there,
- 32:55starting at 8, I leave around, like, 03:34.
- 32:59And then I train in the afternoon. So
- 33:01I'll be doing that, and then I leave
- 33:03for the London Diamond leak Diamond league on
- 33:06Wednesday.
- 33:07So was that the seventeenth?
- 33:09And then I
- 33:11will be going to Finland in doing a...
- 33:13Basically, like, a small training camp until the
- 33:15Olympics.
- 33:16My husband's families from Finland, so we're gonna
- 33:18go out there Train and
- 33:21just get really
- 33:22acclimated to the time zone, and then we'll
- 33:24head over to,
- 33:26Paris on the 20 eighth
- 33:29Yep.
- 33:30So
- 33:31since we had a day, a couple days
- 33:33in between when we originally recorded it now?
- 33:35I decided to ask my husband and my
- 33:38friend Carolyn. I was like, I was telling
- 33:40them, like, I I interviewed Ja thorough. She's
- 33:43going to Olympics, and I said, how much
- 33:44do you think? A Ja weighs. Oh, good
- 33:47question. Mh.
- 33:49My husband said 25 pounds. 000.
- 33:55My shoulder hurts thinking about it.
- 33:58And I think my friend said, like, 25
- 34:013 or something... I know. I... Like, they
- 34:02just had... That's what I'm saying though, like,
- 34:04when we talked about this. Like, that people
- 34:06just have no idea. No. They have no
- 34:08idea. It's super light. Psa, it's a very
- 34:10light object.
- 34:12Oh, my gosh.
- 34:14Okay. So what we do at the end
- 34:16of the podcast is we wrap up with
- 34:18into podcast questions. And so,
- 34:21we'll start with this. What is something
- 34:24professionally or personally you would like to do
- 34:26that you have not done yet.
- 34:28Oh,
- 34:30Great question.
- 34:32I
- 34:33would like to change some things as part
- 34:37of Us o pc
- 34:39law.
- 34:40I tease that a little bit.
- 34:43Yeah. I am going to hopefully be working
- 34:46with some much smarter people than me to
- 34:49help
- 34:50advocate for athletes a little bit more. Oh.
- 34:53And their support.
- 34:54Do we get any more insight at all?
- 34:57I can't right now But what is your,
- 34:59like, passion, like, tell us where your passion
- 35:01for that comes from? My passion for that
- 35:03is that
- 35:05I would say is very similar to N
- 35:06n,
- 35:08to the college athlete.
- 35:10And I think that that has created a
- 35:12little more of a precedent
- 35:14to
- 35:15professional athletes
- 35:18Olympic athletes are, like, heavily restricted
- 35:20especially during the Olympics on what they can
- 35:23and cannot promote. And this is the time
- 35:26where athletes can,
- 35:28you know, support themselves. I'll, there's not a
- 35:30lot of funding in this, and,
- 35:32you know, personal sponsorship through, you know, a
- 35:35small mom and pop you know, store in
- 35:38Nebraska or in Texas,
- 35:40people wanna support you, and
- 35:42this is when visibility happens. And unfortunately, we
- 35:45can't do some of that
- 35:47because of different restrictions that were passed in,
- 35:49like, 19 78.
- 35:51Wow.
- 35:52Well, I love that you're... I love that
- 35:54you're getting behind it. And let you... Because
- 35:56know, we can talk about being annoyed about
- 35:58things and talk about how frustrating is, but,
- 36:00like, yeah. You're doing something. And also, I
- 36:04and we'll be very honest. Like, it it
- 36:06feels scary only in the sense of, like,
- 36:09I would never want some a
- 36:11retaliation.
- 36:12From
- 36:13O pc or anything because the only reason
- 36:15I'm doing it is to
- 36:17help the betterment of
- 36:19athletes to continue to do these sports.
- 36:22Mh. And if there is no financial
- 36:25support,
- 36:26then
- 36:27the the...
- 36:29It's gonna die. People more we need to
- 36:31do this? Because why would you why would
- 36:33you put yourself through this
- 36:35and achieve the high honor and then also...
- 36:38Like, my Friend brooke Anderson. She worked at
- 36:39Chipotle for years. She's a world champion.
- 36:42Wow. A world champion.
- 36:45It's unbelievable. Yeah. So to me, it's... My
- 36:50fear is, like a retaliation of some sort
- 36:52of, like,
- 36:53who knows? You know, like, I would never
- 36:56want, like,
- 36:57the... I'm just hype hypo here, but just
- 37:00like, what if they control like, you saw
- 37:03of some sort and, a positive drug test
- 37:05comes up. Like, yeah, that would quiet someone
- 37:07real quick because all of sudden older they're
- 37:09they're a dirty athlete.
- 37:10And maybe they're not. And, you know, I'm
- 37:13just... That's where my head goes on it.
- 37:15I could be conspiracy theory 10 ad here,
- 37:18but
- 37:19I... My passion is to continue to help
- 37:21athletes, and I want to
- 37:24educate myself as much as I can too,
- 37:25and that's what I'm trying to do.
- 37:28Love it.
- 37:29Okay. Little more light lighthearted? K. What's the
- 37:32best most recent book you've read?
- 37:36To be honest, I'm not a read it.
- 37:40But
- 37:43I mean, does the Bible count? Like, you're
- 37:45in day.
- 37:47What are... What are you reading right now
- 37:49in the bible? Right now Going through the
- 37:50new testament,
- 37:51and I am am. I just... I'm I'm
- 37:54getting into first Corinthians. So
- 37:57I'm in acts right now. So talking through
- 38:00just paul's kind of, and going through all
- 38:03the cities and he's evan
- 38:05and it's been really cool and just to
- 38:07hear, like,
- 38:09like, the the church as it's getting established.
- 38:11Like, how it was established and, like, the
- 38:14people and the players of the game that
- 38:16were really influencing that. And just like,
- 38:19You know... Humanity doesn't change. You know, things
- 38:21that are, like, happening then. You're like, yeah.
- 38:23We do that now too. Yeah. We suck.
- 38:26Yeah.
- 38:29Oh, but it... It's just really good. So...
- 38:31Mh.
- 38:33It sounds better than the part of the
- 38:35bible that I'm reading right now is it's
- 38:37first... Samuel, and it's not super interesting.
- 38:41Yeah. The old testament is just sometimes
- 38:45a grind to get through. I'm dead set.
- 38:48I'm reading the whole thing, and I.
- 38:50Yeah are you doing a program? Because, the
- 38:53Bible recap is my favorite if you've never
- 38:55I've been I've been listening to that Charlie
- 38:56Cobb. Yeah.
- 38:58That. She's amazing. It, like, really opened my
- 39:02eyes to understanding the Bible so much better.
- 39:04More? Yeah.
- 39:06And it makes it more interesting to too
- 39:07because I could read something and I'm like,
- 39:09what did I just read? And I'm like,
- 39:11this is crazy.
- 39:13Like no. Also I'm like, it did that...
- 39:16That
- 39:17not real. I like to that happen.
- 39:19It's it's
- 39:20Not. I know the older I get them
- 39:22more. I'm just, like,
- 39:24you just... I just have to come to
- 39:26the... I love that. I just have to
- 39:28come to the fact. Like, I'm never gonna
- 39:30fully understand. I never gonna fully understand it.
- 39:33And also, like, that's faith and trust of
- 39:35just being, like, god, Like, it's your your
- 39:37word. And
- 39:39But, like, also,
- 39:41the... Like, that's why I love listening to
- 39:43different pastors too. 1 of my favorite is
- 39:45Jonathan Ba. He's a pastor in Texas.
- 39:47Okay. And he is so
- 39:49great at teaching and just, like, so relatable.
- 39:52He's great with young adults.
- 39:54And, you know, people with families too, but
- 39:57he brings such a real to it where
- 39:59you're like,
- 40:00okay. Like,
- 40:02that's he... Saying it in layman's terms and
- 40:04it kinda hits you between the eyes with
- 40:06it. And you're like,
- 40:07okay. I needed to see that. And it's...
- 40:09He's not stopped, and I really appreciate that.
- 40:13Good. Okay. I have to look him up
- 40:14I've never heard of him. But I would,
- 40:16I'm gonna add 1 more book, because I
- 40:17did finish this 1. I should have said
- 40:19this. But Sydney, Mc molecular Book regular trials.
- 40:22I had mentioned it. It is a very
- 40:24good book beyond Gold, I think. Yeah. I
- 40:26need to read that. Highly recommend. I I
- 40:28am also an audiobook. So. Spotify audiobook. That's
- 40:32what I did it on. It's in her
- 40:33voice, which is really great.
- 40:35So I enjoyed that.
- 40:38I love an audio for books like that.
- 40:40Like, especially if it's, like, some sort of,
- 40:42like, auto
- 40:43type? Yes. Book. Yeah.
- 40:45You get a little bit more of just
- 40:47like their...
- 40:48Like, you could read something and your inflection,
- 40:51but hearing, like theirs... And where they put,
- 40:53you know, different pauses or something on you're
- 40:55like, U. Oh, got it. Like, that was
- 40:57important to them, or that's how they are
- 41:00interpreting this. It really good. Totally. Mh. I
- 41:03finally just read the and gale which has
- 41:04been recommended so many times on the process.
- 41:07Have you read That? I have not but
- 41:09my sister recommended the same thing. So I
- 41:10don't know why. What's the? Everybody's obsessed with
- 41:13it. It's World war 2 and... Okay. The
- 41:15main... 1 of the main characters is, like,
- 41:17she's someone that helps, like,
- 41:19fighter pilots who went down, get to safety
- 41:21and Yep.
- 41:23I've... I stayed up till 12:30 last night
- 41:25reading this book. So it's like, I have
- 41:27to finish it. Yeah. Wow Good. Okay. Maybe
- 41:30I'll go to... Preston Hannah. A lot of
- 41:32my work friends and gals. They are in
- 41:35this, like, what is it? Like, something
- 41:37thrones or, like, oh,
- 41:40I think I know what 4 not and...
- 41:43Yes. Yes.
- 41:44They are, like, all... And already talks about
- 41:46that. Laura the worlds and they intersect and.
- 41:50That sounds. I don't know know if I
- 41:52could take commitment.
- 41:53Yeah. I don't know. I have a hard
- 41:55time with, like, the
- 41:57acting the extra stuff, Like... Yeah. I mean
- 41:59I and. There's, like, yeah. Books. I could
- 42:01be exaggerating, but I'm pretty sure there's, like,
- 42:0415 books that all inter locked and there's,
- 42:05like, this whole reading plan. My trend chandler
- 42:08literally read all of them within, like, a
- 42:11month. So they have to be good. Everybody's
- 42:13talking about them. Yes. They have to be
- 42:15good. I mean, people at my work or,
- 42:16like, Maggie. And I'm like, I'm not a
- 42:18reader. Okay?
- 42:20And I don't know the movie. Yeah. And
- 42:22would that be grilled or on audio.
- 42:25I know. Maybe they're bad do they're thick.
- 42:29Yeah.
- 42:30I mean, I did get, like, when we're
- 42:32talking about, like,
- 42:33what do you call that? Like... What it...
- 42:35Is it Sci or what is that kind
- 42:37of Fantasy?
- 42:38Fantasy? I mean, I did, like, back in
- 42:40the it into the hun games. I really
- 42:42potter with my kids.
- 42:44Yeah. Yeah. My husband and I are currently
- 42:46going through audiobook of Harry Potter when we
- 42:49go to sleep. Dig mh. Audiobook book that
- 42:51for 30 minutes, and then we falsely asleep
- 42:53to it. What are you what are you
- 42:54on me to start? We're on chamber... Or
- 42:56on,
- 42:57Sorcerer stone. Yeah. Okay. Yep. I think we've
- 43:00read the 3 book. 3 of them, and
- 43:02we, like, taken a pause. It just makes
- 43:04you... I'm, like, oh, This is so good.
- 43:07The detail in it in the story is
- 43:09just so good. Yeah.
- 43:11Okay. Anything you're watching or excited about, like,
- 43:15to zone out? Watch Sprinter. Sprinter was fantastic.
- 43:19U. Or Sprint. Sorry. Not Sprinter. I keep
- 43:21saying Sprinter because that was somebody at work
- 43:23her son kept saying that. Are you with
- 43:25Winter?
- 43:26It's like, no honey.
- 43:29Not.
- 43:30But, yes, Sprint really good.
- 43:33We just... We're currently in Dc dallas cowboy
- 43:36cheerleader thing. Really good.
- 43:39Receiver really good. Obviously, you can see a
- 43:41theme here of what I mean interested is
- 43:42it.
- 43:44My boys are watching receiver right now, and
- 43:47I was like, guys. You can watch Sprint
- 43:49with me. Like, this is a sports because
- 43:51they love Quarterback. I love all the.
- 43:53You'll love it, but they're like I wanna
- 43:55watch it.
- 43:56Blame for some. I know. They're really into
- 43:58the soccer stuff going on right now. So...
- 44:00Yeah. That too. Yep. Yeah I just felt
- 44:03like Sprint did such a great job of
- 44:05telling the stories, and that's what's great about
- 44:06Trek field are the stories and the behind
- 44:08the scenes. And you know, selfish officially, the
- 44:111 thing I would have liked to see
- 44:12more of is, like, the behind the scenes
- 44:14of their training. Yeah.
- 44:16Because I mean, just as, like, a athlete.
- 44:19I'm like, I felt, like, quarterback did a
- 44:21really good job that with Patrick Mah homes.
- 44:23Oh, yeah. And I just was like, man,
- 44:25I wanna see, like, what No allowances is,
- 44:28like, training looks like? Like, how does she
- 44:30carry train? What do they think about focus
- 44:31on? So maybe season 2, but I really
- 44:34liked it. Yeah. It's really good. And we
- 44:36free call for throw, hopefully. Yeah. Right?
- 44:40And that's what they need to call it
- 44:41Throughout. Yeah. Right Right? Come on.
- 44:44I love it. Or what would they call
- 44:46it field? Because you wanna get, like, the
- 44:47pole vault
- 44:49more just like the forgotten sports. These the
- 44:51forgotten events.
- 44:54Yes. The ones we need to give more
- 44:57attention to to... We love the ones yes.
- 44:59Love yeah. Mh.
- 45:01Do you have a nonprofit You would like
- 45:03to highlight or support tell
- 45:05foundation, I... We give to Tint.
- 45:07They do amazing work. Not only, like, ministry.
- 45:10They do work with,
- 45:12special needs. And then most specifically, they do
- 45:14work around,
- 45:16child rescue from,
- 45:18really, really bad situations of, like, sexual prostitution
- 45:22and all that sort of stuff, They're amazing.
- 45:24They do really great work, Highly recommend. Oh,
- 45:27that's awesome. I listened to him on... I
- 45:29think he was on Annie Downs pot. Cast.
- 45:30I to that. Do you listen to love
- 45:32podcast? Love any Downs. Yeah.
- 45:35Read all her books in college because I
- 45:37yeah I'm really with my life? U.
- 45:41Yeah. I was I was listening to her
- 45:42today, and she's said she's in New York
- 45:45for the summer to make she's Yeah. Yeah.
- 45:47She's in New york for the summer that's
- 45:48where she does her, like, kinda, like, sunday...
- 45:50Or
- 45:51summer sabbath? U. That really great 1 is,
- 45:55do you listen to Jenny Allen at all?
- 45:57Kinda I have read... I read 1 of
- 45:59her books. Okay.
- 46:00I forget which 1 it was. Her podcast
- 46:02is great too I think it's called Made
- 46:03for this. Yeah. Yeah Yeah. He brings great.
- 46:06People on. Another awesome nonprofit organization is called,
- 46:11god behind bars, I think, and she had
- 46:13them on. And
- 46:15it's you know, prison ministry. Okay.
- 46:18Unbelievable work and just, like, unbelievable of,
- 46:21like, how the spirit is, like, moving in
- 46:24these faces.
- 46:26Yeah. I think it's called God behind bars.
- 46:27It's incredible. So my hope at some point,
- 46:30I'm, like, how can I get involved with
- 46:32them? Yeah. Whether I mean, obviously, you can
- 46:34give financially, been like, that would be really
- 46:36fun for me to, like, work with them
- 46:39in some capacity. Yeah. Like, give your time
- 46:41as Yes. Give my time. Yep. Yeah.
- 46:45Well, what is your last message to leave
- 46:46with our audience today?
- 46:49My last message would be...
- 46:52I would just... Ask for prayer through these
- 46:55upcoming weeks, not just for me, but of
- 46:56all athletes.
- 46:59I just think that
- 47:01everybody that is in the situation going to
- 47:03the Olympics This is a dream of theirs,
- 47:04and they've worked really hard. And so just
- 47:06for continued safety. And
- 47:09unity, you know, just
- 47:11overall, like, just for for peace, I think
- 47:14in the world too, especially just, like, coming
- 47:16off of what this weekend was.
- 47:19So I would just say continue to pray
- 47:21for, like, peace and health and safety,
- 47:24and then
- 47:26you know, support us, keep supporting us.
- 47:29Thank you so much, Maggie. Yeah. Thank you.
