- 0:02Speaker 1: This is a Bramble Jam podcast.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Homewark review podcast. I'm
- 0:25Speaker 2: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan.
- 0:27Speaker 3: I'm Wendy.
- 0:28Speaker 4: I'm a former Hamewark hater.
- 0:30Speaker 2: We're back with one of your favorite regular episodes, and
- 0:33Speaker 2: that is our Listener Mailbag episode where we are reading
- 0:38Speaker 2: your thoughts, your opinions, your questions, your feedback set to us.
- 0:43Speaker 2: If you want to participate in the future Listener Mailbag.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Episode, there's two ways you can do it.
- 0:49Speaker 2: You can email us Girls go on Hamewark at gmail
- 0:51Speaker 2: dot com, or you can drop us a voice message.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Our phone number is nine four nine three two nine
- 1:00Speaker 2: eight zero nine zero.
- 1:01Speaker 3: We do have a voice message to read this week.
- 1:05Speaker 2: We'd love to hear more voice messages from you, so
- 1:08Speaker 2: drop us.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Your thoughts on the Chicken Sisters.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Those reviews are coming and I think I think we
- 1:14Speaker 2: might get some mixed reviews. There's not a single Chicken
- 1:17Speaker 2: Sister thought in this episode, but I'd like to hear
- 1:19Speaker 2: what the people are thinking.
- 1:21Speaker 4: I think the people are thinking the same thing.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I am.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Also coming up on Hallmark. We have the Groomsmen. Would
- 1:27Speaker 3: love to hear your.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Thoughts on that and yeah, rapid fire barrage of countdown
- 1:32Speaker 2: to Christmas news that we are getting ahead of the
- 1:36Speaker 2: official announcements. I did see in our Facebook group somebody
- 1:40Speaker 2: was upset that September was full of, not full of.
- 1:43Speaker 3: It is three weeks of.
- 1:45Speaker 4: The Groomsman movies, and I think this person is maybe
- 1:49Speaker 4: only upset because they had Homer Plus and sure one
- 1:53Speaker 4: have already seen these movies when they premiered last summer
- 1:57Speaker 4: last fall, So for them it's like, yeah, oh yeah,
- 2:00Speaker 4: three weeks, that's no new movies. But I think there's
- 2:03Speaker 4: a whole lot of people who haven't seen these movies,
- 2:06Speaker 4: so yeah, for them, I remember those being very enjoyable.
- 2:10Speaker 2: We're glad that they're making it their way to Hallmark Channel,
- 2:14Speaker 2: if I understand both sides right, Like, you're like, I
- 2:16Speaker 2: paid for both of these services, and now it's not
- 2:18Speaker 2: really working out the way that it was promised. I
- 2:21Speaker 2: was saying to someone earlier today. Hallmark Plus now is
- 2:23Speaker 2: what I think Hallmark Plus should have always been, you know,
- 2:27Speaker 2: a dupe for the Hallmark Channel. Trying to make them
- 2:30Speaker 2: two separate products never really made sense.
- 2:34Speaker 4: Yeah, but you could see what they were trying to do.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Though, right, Yeah, you could see what they were trying
- 2:38Speaker 2: to do and it didn't work out, so they had
- 2:41Speaker 2: to recoup all that money post these movies on in
- 2:44Speaker 2: these series on the main channel and course correct.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Yeah, but this is this has got to be the it.
- 2:51Speaker 4: Except for Finding Mister Christmas is the only other series
- 2:55Speaker 4: I think, like series of movies or new movies that
- 2:58Speaker 4: went directly to Hallmark plus us. I think that's the
- 3:01Speaker 4: only other project that remains not have aired on Hallmark Channel.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Yet except for some of the reality series, right like
- 3:11Speaker 2: Ashley will reality series was only.
- 3:13Speaker 3: A homework Plus We've got Marlan's.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Reality series, Wes Brown's reality series. I don't know if
- 3:19Speaker 2: those will ever see the light of day on Hallmark.
- 3:21Speaker 3: They might.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I mean I could see Wes Brown's coming out on
- 3:24Speaker 2: Homewark because during the holiday season and in short, yeah,
- 3:28Speaker 2: it was only three episodes filler, this isn't a Homemark
- 3:33Speaker 2: headlines episode.
- 3:33Speaker 3: But I'm very curious what.
- 3:36Speaker 4: The countday of Christmas Sason is going to look like. Oh,
- 3:39Speaker 4: we already talked about it. You and I off off
- 3:41Speaker 4: Mike with our our predictions. I don't want to say
- 3:46Speaker 4: them publicly yet because they tend to be wrong. Yeah,
- 3:50Speaker 4: so I don't want anybody to pick up and run
- 3:53Speaker 4: with that when I, you know, declare that I think
- 3:56Speaker 4: they're gonna have less than forty movies.
- 3:57Speaker 3: But who knows? Who knows? Well, let's jump into these emails, Okay.
- 4:02Speaker 4: Our first email is from Mary Ann. This email includes
- 4:06Speaker 4: some feedback on our mystery one oh one, But this
- 4:09Speaker 4: is what we wanted to read from her email because
- 4:12Speaker 4: we both got a good laugh at it. I think
- 4:14Speaker 4: she writes she was curious about the origin of our
- 4:17Speaker 4: podcast name and says and then finally, I'm curious why
- 4:21Speaker 4: you decided to go with the name for your podcast,
- 4:23Speaker 4: Girl's Gone Hallmark. The name is reminiscent of a show
- 4:26Speaker 4: called Girls Gone Wild.
- 4:28Speaker 3: And wasn't that show.
- 4:29Speaker 4: About women getting paid to take off their shirts and
- 4:31Speaker 4: show their bodies, their boties, their bodies, et cetera. I
- 4:37Speaker 4: never watched the show, but it kind of seemed objectifying
- 4:40Speaker 4: to women and degrading. Every time I saw clips or
- 4:42Speaker 4: commercials for that show back in the day, it made
- 4:45Speaker 4: me want a barf. There's this one other org that's
- 4:48Speaker 4: done a riff off and the title is called Girls
- 4:52Speaker 4: Gone Bible. That's a podcast, right, Girls Gone Bible. Again,
- 4:57Speaker 4: a strange choice given the show's content. But maybe there's
- 5:00Speaker 4: something I don't know about the show. I'm very curious
- 5:03Speaker 4: why you chose the name.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Well, all credit goes to Wendy on that one.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Nah put it on me.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Huh, well you didn't you. I'm fairly certain you named
- 5:14Speaker 2: Girls Gone Homewark.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Girl's Gone Disney king Walker, so Girls Gone Homark could run. Yeah,
- 5:21Speaker 4: it's a riff off of Girls Gone Wild. I mean,
- 5:24Speaker 4: not like consciously though. I just think it's a funny,
- 5:28Speaker 4: tongue in cheek, funny name.
- 5:30Speaker 3: That's all I agree. It was just meant to be fun.
- 5:33Speaker 3: I just looked it up.
- 5:34Speaker 2: There was a expose Girl's Gone Wild, the Untold Story.
- 5:39Speaker 2: It was on Peacock. I haven't looked now to see
- 5:41Speaker 2: if it still is. I assume it is. But Girls
- 5:45Speaker 2: Gone Wild existed for fifteen years.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I think you should explain what Girl's Gone Wild?
- 5:51Speaker 3: What I mean?
- 5:52Speaker 4: I don't even know. Actually, I just remember the Infra
- 5:54Speaker 4: marshals for it.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Think spring break videos, girls flash guys from their speedboats
- 6:01Speaker 3: that lake have as Yeah, that about sums it up.
- 6:04Speaker 2: I think they were like videos and DVDs that you
- 6:08Speaker 2: could order basically in the.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Age Creepee dues Creepy Doo's ordering like, yeah, that's gross.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Yes, the series did go bankrupt in twenty thirteen, so yeah,
- 6:19Speaker 2: it's not meant to be related.
- 6:21Speaker 3: No, don't fight any reads. We just thought it was
- 6:24Speaker 3: a fun name. That's what it comes down to.
- 6:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Next up, we have an email from Lance.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Lance says what I think many of you think. He says,
- 6:32Speaker 2: I'm assuming I'm not the only one that, while listening
- 6:33Speaker 2: to a mailbag episode thinks of several things I want
- 6:36Speaker 2: to send in as an email, but never actually do
- 6:38Speaker 2: it when I get to the computer. I'm usually listening
- 6:41Speaker 2: while walking the dogs, and he attaches a picture of
- 6:43Speaker 2: Share and George his pups. He says, I want to
- 6:46Speaker 2: share how much I can relate to the idea of
- 6:49Speaker 2: wrestling with the issue of celebrities, including Hallmark stars, being
- 6:53Speaker 2: people outside of their fictional characters, who I may or
- 6:56Speaker 2: may not actually like. Often I discover shows because I
- 6:59Speaker 2: know I like some thing about a specific celebrity already,
- 7:02Speaker 2: so I want to see the new thing they are in.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Other times, I'm hesitant to watch something I know I
- 7:06Speaker 2: would probably like because I'm troubled by actions that celebrity
- 7:10Speaker 2: has made and been very public about. You've often talked
- 7:13Speaker 2: about Jill Wagner, and I wanted to share a story
- 7:15Speaker 2: about her and a connection to Holland Roadent. He goes
- 7:18Speaker 2: on to say, I completely empathize with the quandary of
- 7:21Speaker 2: her and GHAK.
- 7:22Speaker 3: I don't watch.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Anything on there either and have been comfortable boycotting Candace
- 7:27Speaker 2: and Danica. My story about Jill, though, is her connection
- 7:30Speaker 2: to Holland Roaden, the rising superstar of Hallmark, starring in
- 7:33Speaker 2: the upcoming Bill's Football movie. They were both on a
- 7:35Speaker 2: teenage Werewolf series. I really liked, He comments, I have
- 7:39Speaker 2: the TV viewing habits of an adolescent female. Holland had
- 7:41Speaker 2: a Rewatch podcast about the show a few years ago
- 7:43Speaker 2: that I really liked, and her episode with Jill.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Could be worth you listening to.
- 7:47Speaker 2: They did talk about Hallmark a little, but much of
- 7:49Speaker 2: it was about the in development show Lioness.
- 7:53Speaker 3: I did not know if he knew.
- 7:54Speaker 2: That show was created by Jill and her husband based
- 7:57Speaker 2: on his experiences in the military. It certainly gives a
- 7:59Speaker 2: different view of her as a person. To hear her
- 8:01Speaker 2: tell that story. He leaves a link to that podcast,
- 8:04Speaker 2: which we can share in our show. I think that
- 8:08Speaker 2: is a line that I'm not perfect about walking. When
- 8:13Speaker 2: I find out a music artist or someone in movies
- 8:17Speaker 2: I like her TV shows or the creator of this
- 8:19Speaker 2: or that behaves in the way that I don't like,
- 8:23Speaker 2: and it's for me. Sometimes it's hard to figure out
- 8:25Speaker 2: where the line is. A lot of people have reached
- 8:26Speaker 2: out about Jill Wagner especially and have suggested that maybe
- 8:31Speaker 2: her being on Great American Family doesn't fully align with
- 8:35Speaker 2: who she is as a person, which I hope is true.
- 8:39Speaker 3: What are your thoughts.
- 8:40Speaker 4: It's a hard line to toe because there are certain
- 8:44Speaker 4: let me just be frank about Jill Wagner. Yes, going
- 8:46Speaker 4: into reviewing Miss Ray one on one, I was like,
- 8:49Speaker 4: I don't I'm not really looking forward to this because
- 8:51Speaker 4: of some things she has been outspoken about. Then I
- 8:54Speaker 4: watch Miss Ray one one and I'm like, I really
- 8:56Speaker 4: enjoy her as an actor, Like she's really good. And
- 8:59Speaker 4: now I'm having a harder time trying to deal with
- 9:03Speaker 4: those feelings like and honestly, like, there are bigger things
- 9:07Speaker 4: in the world or even in just my life, I
- 9:10Speaker 4: should be worried about more than sharing about uh, consuming
- 9:13Speaker 4: entertainment from somebody who does not lean the same way
- 9:16Speaker 4: I do.
- 9:17Speaker 3: I don't know, but that is I feel slope right. It's
- 9:20Speaker 3: like the Michael Jackson of it, all.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Right, Yes, yes, that's a great example, you know so,
- 9:26Speaker 4: which is a very different thing from what we're dealing
- 9:28Speaker 4: with with the actors that work with this other network.
- 9:32Speaker 3: But it's you know, at some point you got to
- 9:35Speaker 3: draw the line, and.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Part of me kind of want to go back to
- 9:37Speaker 4: a world where I didn't know these details.
- 9:39Speaker 2: You know, Yes, great points on the one hand, like
- 9:43Speaker 2: ignorance is bliss on the other hand, and not speaking
- 9:46Speaker 2: about Jill, but if someone's a hateful person behind the scenes,
- 9:49Speaker 2: I don't want to actually support that. It's it's not
- 9:52Speaker 2: a perfect system.
- 9:54Speaker 1: No, it's not.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Paula writes in Hi, it's been a while. You may
- 10:06Speaker 4: wish it's been a while longer. After this email, which
- 10:10Speaker 4: it gives me a good chuckle, Paula Pala, I welcome.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Paula's emails anytime, totally right.
- 10:18Speaker 4: I mean, Paula even made our It was Always You
- 10:22Speaker 4: Live podcast.
- 10:23Speaker 2: In d there's an email pad leader in this episode.
- 10:27Speaker 4: Oh even great, She writes, I don't understand the appeal
- 10:29Speaker 4: of Providence Falls, It's mostly a typical mystery movie, and
- 10:33Speaker 4: I'm not a big fan of those, so I won't
- 10:35Speaker 4: talk about that. As to the romance, why pick sides,
- 10:38Speaker 4: it seems so obvious that Liam will become the good
- 10:41Speaker 4: person that she needs to be for Cora to do
- 10:44Speaker 4: her second chances thing. My biggest problem is the idea
- 10:48Speaker 4: of predestination. The whole setup of overturning lives for Coora
- 10:52Speaker 4: to do her good works.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Just doesn't make sense. Why Cora.
- 10:56Speaker 4: I'm hoping that free will wins out, that this is
- 10:59Speaker 4: some sort of except I'm our episode of Providence Falls.
- 11:04Speaker 4: The last movie came out yesterday. While I didn't think
- 11:07Speaker 4: it was perfect, still super enjoyable for me. I know
- 11:10Speaker 4: you liked it a lot.
- 11:12Speaker 3: I wish Paula would.
- 11:14Speaker 4: Give it another chance, because a second chance if you will.
- 11:18Speaker 3: I it's just one of.
- 11:20Speaker 4: Those It's one of those Hallmark projects that is different,
- 11:25Speaker 4: and I think you just got to like go with it.
- 11:28Speaker 3: It's I said it yesterday. You can go listen.
- 11:30Speaker 2: The acting is on a higher level, the production value
- 11:32Speaker 2: was on the higher level. If perhaps the story with
- 11:36Speaker 2: the angels. I had issues with the predestination of it too,
- 11:39Speaker 2: I spent two whole episodes talking about the idea of
- 11:42Speaker 2: destiny and did they really understand what that meant? Or
- 11:45Speaker 2: did I not understand what that meant? But I think
- 11:49Speaker 2: to me it is a high quality project. Whether or
- 11:54Speaker 2: not you're into the story, I think that's worth acknowledging.
- 11:56Speaker 2: But as I said, you know, the story's not for everyone,
- 12:00Speaker 2: but I do think it's well done.
- 12:02Speaker 4: I think so too.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Watch for Katie Stevens and Evan Roderick and Maddie Yeah.
- 12:07Speaker 3: I mean watch for these guys.
- 12:09Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, before we move on, Paula did. Paula was
- 12:15Speaker 4: at our Facebook group when we had a conversation about
- 12:17Speaker 4: the actors Jen Lily, and I don't remember totally the
- 12:22Speaker 4: context or what my response was. It was just like,
- 12:25Speaker 4: I don't miss her on Hallmark, and Paula wanted to
- 12:28Speaker 4: know why.
- 12:29Speaker 2: I think there was a conversation about her returning, oh
- 12:32Speaker 2: to Hallmark, Yeah, and I was yeah, and was my
- 12:35Speaker 2: disappointment just just evant, like.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Yeah, she wants to know what my why? I have
- 12:41Speaker 4: an anti jin Lilly stance, And all I can say
- 12:44Speaker 4: is rewind about two minutes and listen.
- 12:46Speaker 3: To our Jill Wagner.
- 12:48Speaker 4: Indeed, but that's all I want to say about it.
- 12:50Speaker 4: I guess yeah, which is a nothing burger. But I
- 12:53Speaker 4: think you can read between the lines. Yeah, that's where
- 12:55Speaker 4: it comes from. I think I agree.
- 12:57Speaker 3: All right.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Next up, we have a voicemail from Michelle regarding Providence.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Let's give it a listen.
- 13:03Speaker 5: Hey, Okay, I wanted to give you my thoughts on
- 13:06Speaker 5: Providence Falls. I was not thrilled with the first one.
- 13:09Speaker 5: I gave a second one a chance, and I'm still mixed.
- 13:12Speaker 5: It just has not grabbed me like other Hamewark series have.
- 13:16Speaker 5: And after listening to your review this morning, I have
- 13:20Speaker 5: to kind of agree with Wendy on it's the tiny
- 13:24Speaker 5: it's the pacing like it, it's slow, and yes, Megan,
- 13:31Speaker 5: the last twenty minutes of the second episode was so grabbing,
- 13:37Speaker 5: and I'm like, Okay, that will make me watch the
- 13:39Speaker 5: third one because now I want to see what happens.
- 13:41Speaker 5: I do also tend to think, and I think it
- 13:43Speaker 5: was part of what hindered me from like falling in
- 13:45Speaker 5: love with it. The Angel slash Heaven scenes are just
- 13:50Speaker 5: too like I'm gonna say it, they're too cheesy. If
- 13:53Speaker 5: it would have been done maybe a little bit differently.
- 13:55Speaker 5: I don't know that part is what's throwing me. The
- 13:58Speaker 5: Fate Destiny flashbacks are fine. I get how they've been
- 14:02Speaker 5: given a second chance and want to see what happens.
- 14:06Speaker 5: But those scenes where we go to like the Angels,
- 14:09Speaker 5: that's where.
- 14:10Speaker 4: It loses me.
- 14:11Speaker 5: So hopefully the third episode will pull it all together,
- 14:15Speaker 5: but unfortunately I do not have high hopes.
- 14:18Speaker 3: Yikes, yikes.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Indeed, we do have a message in Instagram from Michelle
- 14:25Speaker 2: about the third episode and says still not sure about
- 14:29Speaker 2: Providence Falls, but Gabriel has my vote, so at least
- 14:33Speaker 2: she was team Brenda Penny.
- 14:35Speaker 3: She's not wrong.
- 14:36Speaker 4: It's kind of slow, yeah, but that doesn't mean it's
- 14:40Speaker 4: not good.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:41Speaker 2: I really liked it, as evidence by three episodes about it.
- 14:44Speaker 3: I thought the books were a little slow too.
- 14:46Speaker 2: I just think it's that kind of sweeping storytelling, a
- 14:49Speaker 2: little bit real contrast from like Chicken Sisters style storytelling.
- 14:53Speaker 5: Well.
- 14:54Speaker 3: I have two thoughts.
- 14:55Speaker 4: One is we live in such a world where everything
- 14:58Speaker 4: has to come at us fast and furious, right, like
- 15:01Speaker 4: we have no attention span for anything indeed, And the
- 15:05Speaker 4: second thing is Michelle, like us, also grew up on
- 15:09Speaker 4: Gilmore Girls, and so I think we are just used
- 15:12Speaker 4: to pace that is, like, let's just get to the point, right.
- 15:15Speaker 4: I think those are contributing factors. But also I want
- 15:19Speaker 4: to talk about Michelle's thoughts on the cheese of it
- 15:23Speaker 4: all with the angels and stuff. I do think she
- 15:26Speaker 4: nails it there. But I think you Megan made a
- 15:29Speaker 4: really good point in yesterday's Providence Falls episode about how.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Do you do that with that?
- 15:36Speaker 4: You know, there's things we have to work with here.
- 15:40Speaker 4: Maybe it wasn't executed perfectly, but it didn't ruin the
- 15:44Speaker 4: series for me.
- 15:45Speaker 2: I liked the heaven scenes. I didn't love like the
- 15:49Speaker 2: when they would appear. I thought that was that was
- 15:51Speaker 2: where they lost me. But yeah, I don't have the
- 15:54Speaker 2: answer for how you make that more believable or let
- 15:57Speaker 2: you know, there's an element of they are angels needs
- 16:00Speaker 2: to be a little bit otherworldly. Any you either like
- 16:03Speaker 2: that sort of thing you don't. I don't know what
- 16:05Speaker 2: that answer is there, but we do have another email
- 16:08Speaker 2: about Providence Falls. Diane writes in I'm a first time
- 16:13Speaker 2: writing but I've been enjoying your podcast for a few
- 16:15Speaker 2: years and I've always thought about writing in and finally
- 16:18Speaker 2: worked up the courage y'all don't be afraid of.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Us, not at all, please, she says.
- 16:22Speaker 2: First off, when you were talking about the low ratings
- 16:24Speaker 2: for Providence Falls, I can't help but wonder if the
- 16:26Speaker 2: promos are to blame.
- 16:28Speaker 3: I think thing ding ding on that one.
- 16:31Speaker 2: All Mark promos for new movies have been rough for
- 16:33Speaker 2: a couple of years now. I used to be able
- 16:36Speaker 2: to tell from a promo whether a movie would be
- 16:38Speaker 2: good or just so so, but not anymore. The promos
- 16:41Speaker 2: seem to undersell some good movies. That's one reason I
- 16:44Speaker 2: love your podcast. Our tastes are similar, and I trust
- 16:47Speaker 2: your reviews. Back to my point, the commercial for the
- 16:50Speaker 2: first Providence Falls movie wasn't great. I thought it was
- 16:52Speaker 2: a period piece and wasn't excited for yet another month
- 16:55Speaker 2: of the eighteen hundreds, even though I'm team Tomcat. But
- 16:58Speaker 2: I gave the movie a chance after the second promo
- 17:01Speaker 2: featured that swoonworthy line about Liam loving Cora between lifetimes.
- 17:07Speaker 2: Hallmark might have leaned too heavily into the past in
- 17:09Speaker 2: the promo, or maybe it was just another miss from
- 17:12Speaker 2: the marketing team that said I'm loving the Providence Falls movies.
- 17:16Speaker 2: They give me the way home vibes which makes me
- 17:18Speaker 2: so happy. I'm going to pause there. In terms of
- 17:20Speaker 2: production value, I agree. What are your thoughts in terms
- 17:24Speaker 2: of production value? Yeah, we're we're talking quality of The
- 17:26Speaker 2: Way Home. Yeah, it's on par Yeah, I think I
- 17:30Speaker 2: think the storytelling in the Way Home is stronger than
- 17:33Speaker 2: Providence Falls. However, Providence Falls is based on existing content,
- 17:39Speaker 2: and so there was, you know, some limitations there in
- 17:42Speaker 2: order to tell that story. Dane goes on to say
- 17:44Speaker 2: another Providence Faalse thought, I'm wondering if Kora's dad is
- 17:46Speaker 2: up to something. We've already solved this mystery since we've
- 17:50Speaker 2: reviewed the third depth episode. But she says it felt
- 17:53Speaker 2: odd that he wanted her off the case, and that
- 17:55Speaker 2: scene in the coffee shop with him and the retired
- 17:57Speaker 2: detective seemed awkward and suspicious.
- 18:00Speaker 3: I'm telling you they did that on purpose. Totally, totally.
- 18:03Speaker 3: You know what's funny.
- 18:04Speaker 2: We didn't talk about this, but I didn't watch Providence
- 18:06Speaker 2: Falls as a mystery. I know it is a mystery.
- 18:09Speaker 2: I'm well aware we were trying to solve a crime.
- 18:11Speaker 2: At no point did it occur to me to think
- 18:15Speaker 2: about the characters that we saw on screen that one.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Of them had to be involved.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Yeah, When you were like, it's got to be void,
- 18:22Speaker 2: I'm like, that's funny. I didn't even occur to me
- 18:25Speaker 2: that it could be someone that we've already met, because
- 18:29Speaker 2: when we when we watch mystery movies, we're like we
- 18:32Speaker 2: were dialed in and we're trying to figure it out. Right, Yeah,
- 18:36Speaker 2: they've introduced the the bad guy to us in some way.
- 18:40Speaker 4: Right, So I wonder if that's like a viewer issue too,
- 18:44Speaker 4: like what are we watching? Is it a romance? Is
- 18:46Speaker 4: it a mystery? I don't is it a period piece?
- 18:49Speaker 4: I don't know what we are working with here. Maybe
- 18:51Speaker 4: that is a marketing issue for homework. Maybe they maybe
- 18:54Speaker 4: they didn't sell it in the right way. I read
- 18:58Speaker 4: the I read book one, I read part of book two.
- 19:01Speaker 4: I'm interested in finishing them, but I do find the
- 19:04Speaker 4: books to be a little bit slow, so they're not
- 19:06Speaker 4: like the first thing I reach for. I'm just curious
- 19:08Speaker 4: the differences overall once in the series.
- 19:11Speaker 3: And the books.
- 19:13Speaker 2: My point is in reading the synopsis of the movies
- 19:15Speaker 2: before they came out and reading this synopsis of the books,
- 19:18Speaker 2: I still was not one hundred percent sure what I
- 19:20Speaker 2: was getting myself into. They talked about like chasing each
- 19:23Speaker 2: other through lifetimes and we were like, oh, this is
- 19:26Speaker 2: this is a time travel movie and oh yeah, it
- 19:28Speaker 2: was not a time travel movie.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Yeah. All so I totally agree.
- 19:35Speaker 2: That people did not know what to expect with these movies.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Diane closest by saying, I just wanted to say I
- 19:40Speaker 2: love the podcast, the Hallmark News and the Mailbag episodes.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Keep up the hustle, ladies, Diane, thank.
- 19:45Speaker 4: You for your email. We appreciate you. Yeah, totally so.
- 19:49Speaker 4: Paula wrote to us an email after listening to our
- 19:54Speaker 4: live podcast recording of It was Always You from bramble
- 19:57Speaker 4: Fest earlier this summer. She writes, great on the podcast,
- 20:00Speaker 4: it was great hearing you live. Thank you for the
- 20:03Speaker 4: mention too. I've been wondering about being too critical lately,
- 20:07Speaker 4: although I guess it's not just lately. One last thing
- 20:10Speaker 4: about George is that he left the island when he
- 20:14Speaker 4: didn't need to, and she, Lizzie was very explicit about
- 20:19Speaker 4: not wanting him to go.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Great job once again.
- 20:25Speaker 4: Yeah, so she's basically just saying that George is that
- 20:27Speaker 4: fault too, right.
- 20:30Speaker 3: Yeah, that was Paul's take all along.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Paula had been one of the drivers of the train
- 20:34Speaker 2: of wanting us to re look at it was always
- 20:37Speaker 2: you and was very much like pay closer attention to George,
- 20:42Speaker 2: like he is not deserving of any pity.
- 20:45Speaker 3: He's equally at fall here. Paula is not team George
- 20:49Speaker 3: for sure.
- 20:50Speaker 2: One final bit of Providence false thoughts comes from Francisco,
- 20:54Speaker 2: who says, I'm enjoying Providence Falls on the first episode.
- 20:58Speaker 2: I did like how Liam was confused by cars and
- 21:00Speaker 2: cell phones. Francisco, I hated that he said it's funny
- 21:03Speaker 2: and Egon is nice as comic relief. Hey, I want
- 21:06Speaker 2: to interrupt Francisco here, I heard Deck the Hallmark say egon,
- 21:10Speaker 2: no egon, Francisco ort egon.
- 21:12Speaker 3: So Egon should have been played by.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Any guesses uh, Erica Tavla indeed, and I have to
- 21:18Speaker 2: say I totally agree with that take. Francisco says, I
- 21:22Speaker 2: do agree with Wendy. Pertaining to the first movie, the
- 21:23Speaker 2: flashbacks were pretty dark.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Is the story there that interesting? It's okay.
- 21:28Speaker 2: I buy Liam and Core's relationship there, but I'm not
- 21:30Speaker 2: exactly rooting for them in the present.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Francisco.
- 21:34Speaker 2: For the flashbacks shown between the movies, I liked how
- 21:36Speaker 2: movie too did it, He says, I like how the
- 21:39Speaker 2: second movie explored Finn and we're not just being overly
- 21:41Speaker 2: bombarded with how Liam is the one blah blah. On
- 21:44Speaker 2: that same note, I'm glad the guys are totally cool
- 21:46Speaker 2: with losing out to each other on this one. It
- 21:48Speaker 2: was the total antithesis of how The Way Home treated it.
- 21:53Speaker 3: M I do agree with that. Yeah, I actually.
- 21:57Speaker 4: Really loved Finn and Liam's relationship and banter mm hmm
- 22:02Speaker 4: with each other. I would love to watch a show
- 22:06Speaker 4: about them, a buddy comedy with Ben and Liam.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Yep, yep, yeah, that is really interesting.
- 22:11Speaker 2: They were both pretty quick to be acknowledged that they
- 22:14Speaker 2: we were dealing with two good guys here, and there
- 22:17Speaker 2: was no wrong choice in terms of the way Korra
- 22:20Speaker 2: would ultimately be treated so well.
- 22:23Speaker 4: And Finn even said in movie three, He's like, we
- 22:26Speaker 4: have a good relationship, but it's obvious those two have
- 22:29Speaker 4: something else. So like he took the l like he
- 22:32Speaker 4: saw it, and he has who's it waiting in the wing.
- 22:34Speaker 3: So don't even get me started.
- 22:37Speaker 2: But yes, if you want our full thoughts on that,
- 22:39Speaker 2: please go back to yesterday's episode. Providence follows three Thief
- 22:44Speaker 2: of fate. That's a wrap on this listener Mailbag episode.
- 22:47Speaker 2: We'd love to hear more thoughts, opinions and questions from you.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Email us girls gone Hamewark at gmail dot com, and
- 22:56Speaker 2: we'll be back next week with more homemark reviews.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Goodbye bye.
- 23:12Speaker 2: All right friends, before we go, just a quick heads up,
- 23:15Speaker 2: you're about to hear some ads. These little gems help
- 23:17Speaker 2: us keep the show running and the Hallmark love flowing.
- 23:21Speaker 2: So do with that info what you will, Grab a snack,
- 23:24Speaker 2: hit the skip button, or maybe just maybe listen in
- 23:27Speaker 2: and discover your new favorite product.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Bye
