- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Divine Worth Podcast,
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: where we are letting go of our self-doubt,
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: anxiety, fear,
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: and limiting beliefs so that we can step into the divine roles that God has for us.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: I am your host,
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Life Coach Karen Papin,
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: and together we are embracing our divine worth and potential.
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: Welcome to the podcast.
- 0:19SPEAKER_01: This week I am doing something I haven't done before and just to give you
- 0:25SPEAKER_01: a little background behind what I will be sharing with you today.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: I have this experience where I was cuddling with my son.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: I was putting him to bed and we were just kind of cuddling there and I was singing
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: to him and he like shifted in a way and accidentally elbowed me in the face
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: and I could not escape this owl that came out of me and my son felt horrible.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: He just like I remember just holding him and doing my best to comfort him,
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: but it took a while for him to really calm down and
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: To be able to move on from that experience.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: And I realize that this is something that we all go through,
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: where we hold on to a mistake that we made,
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: even though we felt horrible,
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: even though there are things that we can do to overcome it,
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: and even though we have the Savior in our life,
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: we still hold on to these mistakes,
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: and we beat ourselves up over and over and over again,
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: and we ruminate over and over and over again.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: And so as I was pondering this,
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: and since I have been focused on writing the things that come to my mind,
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: this was one of those things that came to my mind.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: And so I wrote a letter to the one who is stuck in those mistakes and who can't get out of them.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: And I posted it on Substack, and I also thought that I would share it with you today.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: So I'm going to read what I wrote to you.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: That one.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: My dear one, I held you as you cried.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: In that moment, all I wanted was for you to be comforted.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: I offered words of comfort and the love shared through my warm embrace.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: Yet you still felt the sorrow, the pain, the guilt, the shame.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: All I could do was hold you.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: Trying to allow the love I felt for you to flow through my arms and into your soul.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: Trying to ease your pain through words that I'm not sure were even getting through to you.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: Sometimes That's all we can do is feel that pain.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: Sometimes all we can do is allow ourselves to see the mistakes that we've made
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: and we struggle to move on to the next step because what we see is so obvious to us
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: and so painful to admit.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that acknowledgement is the first step to moving forward.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: It is hard, but so needed.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: But please don't get stuck there.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: I know what it's like to ruminate over and over what you did, replaying it over and over.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: That moment in your mind.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: Wishing you could go back and change the reality of what happened and yet feeling
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: the hopelessness and awareness that what was done was done.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: There is hope.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: It's called repentance.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: It's called love.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: It's called doing what you can to right the wrongs and committing to doing things differently.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: Because you see,
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: when you get stuck in the hopeless,
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: either not focusing on what happened,
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: or refusing to accept it,
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: or ruminating over and over and not accepting that you can't go back and change it,
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: it keeps you from making the change.
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: My dear one, mistakes are a part of life.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: They are a part of learning.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: You have been given agency and the ability to choose who you will be moving forward.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: You get to choose how you want to respond to what happened.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: So instead of hiding in shame, allow yourself to feel my love for you.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: My love that extends to you.
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: Regardless of those mistakes that you've made or the weaknesses that you carry,
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: and accept where you are because then you can see more clearly the actions
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: that you need to take to make things right.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: Move forward from that love that I have for you.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: Move forward with hope.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: I love you, and I always will.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: That's the end of the letter to the one.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: I imagined writing that,
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: not only writing it to my son,
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: but I also felt the words to myself as if Heavenly Father...
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: I hope that you felt that as well,
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: that you know that you have a loving Heavenly Father who understands
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: that you have made mistakes.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: And because of that,
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: has provided a way for you to be able to move forward,
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: to be able to apply the atonement in your life,
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: and to have His love for you in His life, and to learn and to grow.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: And while we are here on earth, we will make mistakes.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: That is part of the process.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: I hope you enjoyed that little letter.
